My Graphics class got cancelled this week. Instructor has a death in his family

deb said...

That's too bad, Red, sorry to hear that. Will you do a make-up week, or will that be discussed when your instructor comes back?

Mits said...

something at BWO with what looks like a dead bird

Mits said...

its the juvie...oh oh, that could be trouble

Mits said...

changed my mind, think it is a fish, that looks like it put up a good fight.

Mits said...

ok maybe think it might be a bird?

deb said...

I can't tell either, I was thinking a gull of some sort.

deb said...

Feeding time, BWE!

Mits said...

Mits said...

welll what ever is was, it is almost gone

Red said...

We will make it up Deb. Will just extend it a week.

deb said...

Wray is sitting on the nest bowl right now, wings are down. Maybe egg #2 on the way? 01 is there also.

deb said...

I should have said that is happening at West End.

both Eagles at BWE.

Hi gang. Back and caught up on blog...haven't even looked at mail since early this am.
Norma, know the abbreviations can get confusing....death was my oldest son-in-laws' brother-in-law. Usually wouldn't be a close enough relationship to count for much on my part, but after my daughter and SIL lost their home in a fire they lived with his sister and her husband for about 6 mos. They were living there when my first granddaughter was born. Also, they did the photography and a lot of other stuff for the kids' wedding. So I had gotten to know them fairly well. SIL's whole large family has always treated me like a member of their family.

paula eagleholic said...

Ha - BWO, now an adult eagle there...but Juvie disappeared with his catch!

paula eagleholic said...

OMG and now Juvie is back...that would be fun to watch!

paula eagleholic said...

That's a white bird...that juvie has at BWO

Mits said...

juvie is standing his ground:)

Mits said...

windy out in Caltran today

paula eagleholic said...

BWO juvie took off, lunch bird still in the box

paula eagleholic said...

He's back for his birdie

Mits said...

I still see juvie eating again

Mits said...

don't think he wants anyone else to get it

paula eagleholic said...

Lunch bird has a long black skinny beak...almost like a sandpiper

Or, that could be a leg!

Mits said...

LW is now back up on the WDFW page

paula eagleholic said...

And he's gone again...still defending his lunch

hedgie said...

Eeeekk..."record-breaking" lows predicted for tonight. Speaking of which, guess I better go throw another log on the fire!

paula eagleholic said...

BWE chicks in view, but they blend really well into the nest.

Lots of calling at WE - wonder if Ravens are around?

BWO - lunch bird in the box...no sign of the juvie

deb said...

It definitely has a long beak. Do sandpipers stay there all year?

paula eagleholic said...

Lord BW (I think) is back. Could see one chick sitting up, sun was just hitting his head!

paula eagleholic said...

I don't know Deb...

Should send the pic to Lisa...

paula eagleholic said...

Mits said...

I sent her one earlier...I rarely see any sandpipers at the beach in the summer, and when I do, they are very small and maybe not really pipers

WASHINGTON - D.C. police say McGruff the crime dog, who urges children to "take a bite out of crime," became a victim Saturday when a bus driver punched him in the face as he handed fliers to children.

The popular crime-fighting dog has been around since 1980 as a cartoon character and as a furry mascot known by children and parents alike.

Police say the Metro bus driver, 38-year-old Shawn Brim, climbed off the bus at the corner of 14th Street and Spring Street, adjusted both sideview mirrors and then swung at Officer Tyrone Hardy, who was dressed as McGruff.

Police say McGruff staggered, children screamed and the bus driver drove off. Officers quickly pulled him over and charged him with assault.

"Who the bus driver? Oh, he needs to go to jail," said Vincent Rogers. "He needs to go to jail!"

As it turns out, he's come close. D.C. court records show between 1990 and 2006, Brim was arrested on suspicion of prostitution, possession of PCP and possession of a gun.

Despite his record, in 2003, Metro hired him to drive the bus. Metro spokeswoman Candace Smith says Brim told a supervisor he was trying "to be funny." Smith says Brim will undergo drug and alcohol testing.

"But we certainly don't think it's funny," noted Lisa Farbstein, a Metro spokesperson. "There is not one person who works at Metro who thinks that's funny."

A Metro spokesperson says the bus driver has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation and he has been charged with assault. The D.C. police officer inside the McGruff costume is back on the job.

ONLY IN DC COULD THIS HAPPEN:(

paula eagleholic said...

Or some sort of plover/piper type bird...those birds that run along shore and stick their beaks in the sand or shallow ponds/mud and eat all sorts of goodies

deb said...

There are some sandpipers that do stay along the east coast in the winter, not many but a few.

Lisa is going to get a lot of those pictures!

paula eagleholic said...

What would have been really funny (pardon my sick sense of humor here), would be for McGruff to take out a gun and shoot the Metro driver, and show the kids how to really "Take a Bite out of Crime".

Mits said...

roflmbo....Paula, it just brings to mind the question "what was he thinking"?

deb said...

Wray has moved and just gave a great big shake.

deb said...

You do have to wonder about people!

Adult is eating the Juvie's food

Mits said...

another trucker with a pet traveling...sad ending for the trucker.....

OMAHA, Nebraska (AP)-- A puppy stranded in Nebraska by the death of a trucker is getting a flight home to California.

The dog named Zak was with 59-year-old Robert Shields on Sunday when Shields' tractor-trailer rig drifted off Interstate 80 and hit a bridge support in Omaha.

Police said Shields might have had a heart attack. The year-old dog was only scratched.

Shields' wife told the Nebraska Humane Society the family desperately wanted Zak home in Poway, Calif.

Humane society spokeswoman Pam Wiese (WEECE) put out a call for help. American Airlines general manager in Omaha, Michele Henry, said Tuesday the airline will pay the dog's fare of about $300.

Zak is expected home Wednesday.

paula eagleholic said...

Looks like Adult won at BWO, he eating the lunch bird

deb said...

Hmmm, it doesn't look like a beak any more--I can't tell it is too small. When you make it bigger, it gets fuzzy.

deb said...

That's sad, Helen. :(

Mits said...

wonder if the lunch bird will show up in the nest?

paula eagleholic said...

Just realized the whole wooden bottom of the BWO box is gone..only screen left...

Mits said...

reminded me of BRS and TK

paula eagleholic said...

And adult dragged part to the far side of the box, too

hedgie said...

Sad story about trucker and puppy. As for McGruff...agree w/ Paula...that would have been poetic justice!

deb said...

Is that feathers all over the BWE nest?

deb said...

Both eagles in BWE.

Mits said...

DEB, I think it is the leftovers from the BWO nest, when the adult left the platform, the next shot showed there were no leftovers, where 30 seconds before there were.

deb said...

I was wondering about that. I wasn't watching for awhile, so I missed the bird making the trip to the nest.

Still no visits to the Kent nest, that I have seen. I wish they would make an appearance.

Costume Lady said...

I guess Margy hasn't logged on here yet. Just got a call from my Karla, that she had a wreck close to the VA line. She hit an IRONING BOARD and it smashed in the whole front end of Our Mountaineer, which she has just borrowed while her car is getting a new transmission! Doesn't know if to cal 911 or the Insurance co.
Gene told her to call 911.

Mits said...

#@$#% ironing boards...is she OK?

Costume Lady said...

I think she is ok, Helen, just upset over the experience. She couldn't avoid the accident for the number of cars on the interstate. Her husband is in a car behind her, so I'm sure he will take care of her:(

Mema Jo said...

In order for insurance to kick in she may as well do what Dad told her & get a report of some kind on file!
I know you're thankful she is OK ! I notice the OUR Mountaineer... There must be a reason - always is But you sometimes don't know until later

Mits said...

ironing boards are worthless pieces of junk...hope she is ok, know she is upset...but car can be fixed....

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

I am with ya Wanda. I think ironing boards should be outlawed. If the dryer can't get the wrinkles out, put it back in the closet.

Mits said...

I'm sure some chauvinistic man invented them.

wvgal_dana said...

WAnda so glad that Karla was not injured. Sorry about your vehicle.

ROFLMBO When Sissy asked if the ironing board was on a truck or in the road!

SISSY - Thank you for my laugh!
Like you say - if it needs to be ironed - leave it in the store!

I am glad to know Karla's hubby was right there following OR maybe he should have been in the lead vehicle - ....

wvgal_dana said...

Hi Sunny glad you are able to get on an chat.

I thought they didn't sale ironing boards anymore LOL the lol is only at the ironing board. Take it
to the cleaners if they are that particular they need an ironing board. Cleaners irons them great..for military, executives, and etc.

Mema Jo said...

Hi Sunny - good to see you this evening!
Is your new work location still in the Hgstwn area or are you traveling?

paula eagleholic said...

Hi Sunny!!

I was LOL too...I've always said ironing boards are hazardous to your health...

Mema Jo said...

Did BWE have a duck (feathered bird) for their dinner this evening? I didn't get on before the night light hit and I think I see feathers in the nest.

sunny said...

Jo, I'm working in Chambersburg now, so I get my share of time on the highway each day. I'll be watching for ironing boards tomorrow! I think I have one around here somewhere, but it hasn't been used in a VERY long time. I also believe that if it need ironed, it stays in the store.

wvgal_dana said...

I don't watch "The Bachelor" but last night was suppose to be the final episode. Now I hear he dropped the girl he got engaged to. Tonight he is giving the ring to another girl. They said it is the first time this has happened on the Bachelor. Anyone hear about this?

Mema Jo said...

Well the ironing board didn't disappear from my kitchen until after uniforms were wash/wear styled fabrics and when
"Well if your undershorts aren't pressed - who's going to see them anyway. I don't always do things the way Mom did"

Mema Jo said...

Chambersburg isn't that far up the road..

wvgal_dana said...

Heading that way tomorrow Wanda so I hope Karla gave that ironing board a BIG 1 2 heave ho throw into the median.

paula eagleholic said...

paula eagleholic said...

Jo, BWE found a bird at BWO...he snagged it from a juvie there...then took back to nest.

deb said...

wvgal_dana said...

floralgirl said...

Those eagles at HI are really talking to each other.
Eagle at WE is really sitting still now- sure did look like she was pushing an egg out.

Mits said...

Megan, what does your dog do, when he hears the eagles at HI, they are so loud, plus all the other bird calling going on?

floralgirl said...

He hates it, he went downstairs. Sometimes it makes him bark, other times it just seems to annoy him.

hedgie said...

Is Margy MIA again??? Where are you, Magpie???

wvgal_dana said...

I am sure there will be an egg at WE in the morning. I believe she laid it tonight.

I saw eagle flying around in H1 sure is pretty.

Not MIA, Hedgie, MIB - Missing in Blog....takes awhile to read all these "class notes" as Sunny calls them - so true!

magpie said...

First and foremost: Wanda - I am sorry to hear of this wreck, was it in WV or VA?
Yeah, 911 is a good call for that one, though she might have gotten transfered directly then to a police agency. Woof! Can the Mountaineer be fixed? Sounds like it is a Family Fixture for sure!

I am glad no physical injuries, but sure her spirit is banged up a bit....

magpie said...

I will say this about ironing boards, I do wish I had one....I have several vests that need ironing, anything else that needs it does not get closet space in MY roost...

Hey - did anyone on here ever Iron their Hair? That was a big thing back in the 60's - I had long hair then and used to do it...Goofy! ☺
Sure is good to See Everyone ☺ ♥

magpie said...

It's rather comforting to see that LW has some Spidey threads too, and we are fortunate we have not seen too many of them at OUR nest lately.
