Hi gang. Back and caught up on blog...haven't even looked at mail since early this am. Norma, know the abbreviations can get confusing....death was my oldest son-in-laws' brother-in-law. Usually wouldn't be a close enough relationship to count for much on my part, but after my daughter and SIL lost their home in a fire they lived with his sister and her husband for about 6 mos. WASHINGTON - D.C. police say McGruff the crime dog, who urges children to "take a bite out of crime," became a victim Saturday when a bus driver punched him in the face as he handed fliers to children.
The popular crime-fighting dog has been around since 1980 as a cartoon character and as a furry mascot known by children and parents alike.
Police say the Metro bus driver, 38-year-old Shawn Brim, climbed off the bus at the corner of 14th Street and Spring Street, adjusted both sideview mirrors and then swung at Officer Tyrone Hardy, who was dressed as McGruff.
Police say McGruff staggered, children screamed and the bus driver drove off. Officers quickly pulled him over and charged him with assault.
"Who the bus driver? Oh, he needs to go to jail," said Vincent Rogers. "He needs to go to jail!"
As it turns out, he's come close. D.C. court records show between 1990 and 2006, Brim was arrested on suspicion of prostitution, possession of PCP and possession of a gun.
Despite his record, in 2003, Metro hired him to drive the bus. Metro spokeswoman Candace Smith says Brim told a supervisor he was trying "to be funny." Smith says Brim will undergo drug and alcohol testing.
"But we certainly don't think it's funny," noted Lisa Farbstein, a Metro spokesperson. "There is not one person who works at Metro who thinks that's funny."
A Metro spokesperson says the bus driver has been put on administrative leave pending an investigation and he has been charged with assault. The D.C. police officer inside the McGruff costume is back on the job.
Or some sort of plover/piper type bird...those birds that run along shore and stick their beaks in the sand or shallow ponds/mud and eat all sorts of goodies
What would have been really funny (pardon my sick sense of humor here), would be for McGruff to take out a gun and shoot the Metro driver, and show the kids how to really "Take a Bite out of Crime".
another trucker with a pet traveling...sad ending for the trucker.....
OMAHA, Nebraska (AP)-- A puppy stranded in Nebraska by the death of a trucker is getting a flight home to California.
The dog named Zak was with 59-year-old Robert Shields on Sunday when Shields' tractor-trailer rig drifted off Interstate 80 and hit a bridge support in Omaha.
Police said Shields might have had a heart attack. The year-old dog was only scratched.
Shields' wife told the Nebraska Humane Society the family desperately wanted Zak home in Poway, Calif.
Humane society spokeswoman Pam Wiese (WEECE) put out a call for help. American Airlines general manager in Omaha, Michele Henry, said Tuesday the airline will pay the dog's fare of about $300.
DEB, I think it is the leftovers from the BWO nest, when the adult left the platform, the next shot showed there were no leftovers, where 30 seconds before there were.
I guess Margy hasn't logged on here yet. Just got a call from my Karla, that she had a wreck close to the VA line. She hit an IRONING BOARD and it smashed in the whole front end of Our Mountaineer, which she has just borrowed while her car is getting a new transmission! Doesn't know if to cal 911 or the Insurance co. Gene told her to call 911.
I think she is ok, Helen, just upset over the experience. She couldn't avoid the accident for the number of cars on the interstate. Her husband is in a car behind her, so I'm sure he will take care of her:(
In order for insurance to kick in she may as well do what Dad told her & get a report of some kind on file! I know you're thankful she is OK ! I notice the OUR Mountaineer... There must be a reason - always is But you sometimes don't know until later Someone doing a Move Yourself in the back of of Pick Up no less.
Well good evening Eagle friends! I have been lurking all day and working a little bit and playing on Facebook alot!!! I am going to pray before I start in the morning for God to give me the strength to mind my own business and work like they pay me too!!
I'm sure she is concerned about her Daddy and his LOVE for this vehicle. It has been a FAMILY vehicle for a number of years. Anyone in our immediate family who needs a vehicle temporarily...this is the one! This is the first time it has been wrecked. IT WILL BE ALRIGHT!
Okay, I'm glad I didn't have a mouthful of beverage when I started reading about the @#$%^^ ironing board! Hilarious! Just the ironing board, not the accident part. Hope she's okay!
I'm excited about SnowWhite and Frosty. I checked in a couple of times today to make sure everything was well with them. Thanks for taking such good notes, class.
I thought they didn't sale ironing boards anymore LOL the lol is only at the ironing board. Take it to the cleaners if they are that particular they need an ironing board. Cleaners irons them great..for military, executives, and etc.
Jo, I'm working in Chambersburg now, so I get my share of time on the highway each day. I'll be watching for ironing boards tomorrow! I think I have one around here somewhere, but it hasn't been used in a VERY long time. I also believe that if it need ironed, it stays in the store.
I don't watch "The Bachelor" but last night was suppose to be the final episode. Now I hear he dropped the girl he got engaged to. Tonight he is giving the ring to another girl. They said it is the first time this has happened on the Bachelor. Anyone hear about this?
Well the ironing board didn't disappear from my kitchen until after uniforms were wash/wear styled fabrics and when "Well if your undershorts aren't pressed - who's going to see them anyway. I don't always do things the way Mom did"
Chambersburg isn't that far up the road.. Glad you are still local! Rt 81 can be fierce at times with all the trucks but more so because of all the crazy drivers! I hope you like what you are doing - you know! You are suppose to make WORK FUN.
Paula someone told me that he choose the one from 2 and gave they became engaged. After being together awhile. He decided he didn't want the one he picked. He wanted the other one he let go. Is that correct?
OMG, Wanda.....so glad that Karla is okay. Could have been so much worse...thank goodness her hubby didn't run into the back of her....the insurance company would love that!!! There was a commercial a few years ago where husband and wife hit each other!!
First and foremost: Wanda - I am sorry to hear of this wreck, was it in WV or VA? Yeah, 911 is a good call for that one, though she might have gotten transfered directly then to a police agency. Woof! Can the Mountaineer be fixed? Sounds like it is a Family Fixture for sure!
I am glad no physical injuries, but sure her spirit is banged up a bit....
I will say this about ironing boards, I do wish I had one....I have several vests that need ironing, anything else that needs it does not get closet space in MY roost...
Hey - did anyone on here ever Iron their Hair? That was a big thing back in the 60's - I had long hair then and used to do it...Goofy! ☺ Sure is good to See Everyone ☺ ♥
How you all feel about Thousand Leggers? I have one in my apartment, sure sign of Spring?? I should have removed him to the outdoors, because now I cannot locate it! :(
Good evening everyone; I have had a busy day,all i did was take photos.and i have them posted.I removed the new nest post and added indiana wildlife 2009 and put some photos there. The new nest is not active this year, but the eagles are sitting on eggs on the older nest.
Well Howdy there Dave, must go have a look at your new pictures. Did you ever iron your hair back in the 60's - don't want to leave the guys out of this...☺ I bet ALL your days are busy .. xoxo
Good evening my friends of fine feathers and fur! Hope all is well. Sissy said something about an accident with a ironing board! Never heard of that before. I hope everybody is okay!
NOPE! Dr was satisfied that all is well and that she isn't that many days past her due date. Do mention yet of inducing labor - I'm sure she convinced them that she could do it herself! lol
Hello evening folks! Margie, glad you slogged thru' the blogs! Family is doing pretty good....it was a nice tribute service...Steve was a very good Christian and totally devoted to a group called Royal Rangers, which is a ministry to young men that seems to be alot like Boy Scouts, but w/ the religious influence. Lots of them there in uniform. He was the district commander for 21 yrs. He only had a daughter, so treated all the boys as if they were his sons. He was very well-liked and respected.
On March 6, 1962, I was born. On March 6, 1975, Becky (Mattie and Justin's mommy) was born. On March 6, 1980, Aaron (Sissy's youngest) was born. It is a glorious day! My mommy and both sisters had babies on the same day! I have probably told that story before but I feel it is worth repeating! ☺☺☺
Hedgie... I had noticed on the Brown's tributes site the nice things folks were saying about Mr. Shirley and the Royal Rangers. God has picked a wonderful flower for His garden, but so sad for those left behind.
Sharon, as long as the cukes don't give you indigestion I doubt that they can hurt you...but they do have a lot of water so could make you have to go-o-o-o!! No jokes about pregnancy for Sharon!! She CAN'T let her belly get stretched!!!!!
Evening Everyone!! OMG, Wanda! What an unusual news story!!What was that stoopid stray ironing board doing in the road anyway? Must have slid away from home. I'm not making light of poor Karla's predicament. Glad she is OK. ☺ Did Margy get the 911 call? Or different area? There were so many birds songbirds, etc.) around the Park today, I took 40+ pics! That's what I've been working on--didn't even watch Idol. But now I need a break!
Sunny is absolutely right about update on the Eagle Web Cam Log at the BWE site, very dear information about the baby Eaglets.... Thanks Sunny for the Alert ☺
RE - the Batchelor - still don't know if that happened last night or tonight...he dumped the first girl he proposed to and asked the other gal to give it a go...

My Graphics class got cancelled this week. Instructor has a death in his family
That's too bad, Red, sorry to hear that. Will you do a make-up week, or will that be discussed when your instructor comes back?
something at BWO with what looks like a dead bird
its the juvie...oh oh, that could be trouble
changed my mind, think it is a fish, that looks like it put up a good fight.
ok maybe think it might be a bird?
I can't tell either, I was thinking a gull of some sort.
Feeding time, BWE!
more feeding BWE
welll what ever is was, it is almost gone
We will make it up Deb. Will just extend it a week.
they are looking good, those chicklets
Wray is sitting on the nest bowl right now, wings are down. Maybe egg #2 on the way? 01 is there also.
I should have said that is happening at West End.
both Eagles at BWE.
Hi gang. Back and caught up on blog...haven't even looked at mail since early this am.
Norma, know the abbreviations can get confusing....death was my oldest son-in-laws' brother-in-law. Ha - BWO, now an adult eagle there...but Juvie disappeared with his catch!
OMG and now Juvie is back...that would be fun to watch!
That's a white bird...that juvie has at BWO
juvie is standing his ground:)
windy out in Caltran today
BWO juvie took off, lunch bird still in the box
He's back for his birdie
I still see juvie eating again
don't think he wants anyone else to get it
Lunch bird has a long black skinny beak...almost like a sandpiper
Or, that could be a leg!
LW is now back up on the WDFW page
And he's gone again...still defending his lunch
Eeeekk..."record-breaking" lows predicted for tonight. Speaking of which, guess I better go throw another log on the fire!
looks like a beak to me, or a leg without a foot
live stream heron cam is working also on WW
both eagles still at WE, one is calling out
BWE chicks in view, but they blend really well into the nest.
Lots of calling at WE - wonder if Ravens are around?
BWO - lunch bird in the box...no sign of the juvie
It definitely has a long beak. Do sandpipers stay there all year?
Lord BW (I think) is back. Could see one chick sitting up, sun was just hitting his head!
I don't know Deb...
Should send the pic to Lisa...
Eating time? at BWE - Parent up
I sent her one earlier...I rarely see any sandpipers at the beach in the summer, and when I do, they are very small and maybe not really pipers
Sent Lisa an email

Looks like Adult won at BWO, he eating the lunch bird
Hmmm, it doesn't look like a beak any more--I can't tell it is too small. When you make it bigger, it gets fuzzy.
That's sad, Helen. :(
wonder if the lunch bird will show up in the nest?
Just realized the whole wooden bottom of the BWO box is gone..only screen left...
reminded me of BRS and TK
Yea, now that looks like a leg without a foot
And adult dragged part to the far side of the box, too
sounds like a country song, Leg with No Foot
Adult gone...me too!
CU Later...
chicks in view

Sad story about trucker and puppy. As for McGruff...agree w/ Paula...that would have been poetic justice!
Is that feathers all over the BWE nest?
Both eagles in BWE.
DEB, I think it is the leftovers from the BWO nest, when the adult left the platform, the next shot showed there were no leftovers, where 30 seconds before there were.
I was wondering about that. I wasn't watching for awhile, so I missed the bird making the trip to the nest.
Still no visits to the Kent nest, that I have seen. I wish they would make an appearance.

Oh my gosh Wanda. I am sorry to hear about your daughter's accident. Ironing board, in the road or on a truck?
DA.. IRONING BOARDS...I NEVER DID LIKE THEM!! INTERSTATE IS NO PLACE FOR AN IRONING BORD. What in the h--- were they thinging of??
ironing boards are worthless pieces of junk...hope she is ok, know she is upset...but car can be fixed....
I am with ya Wanda. I think ironing boards should be outlawed. If the dryer can't get the wrinkles out, put it back in the closet.
I'm sure some chauvinistic man invented them.
WAnda so glad that Karla was not injured. Sorry about your vehicle.

Well, good grief, an ironing board in the middle of the highway... not something you expect to see. Glad Karla is ok, Wanda.
I'm reading back over all the Ironing Board comments......
ROFLMBO When Sissy asked if the ironing board was on a truck or in the road!
SISSY - Thank you for my laugh!
Like you say - if it needs to be ironed - leave it in the store!
I am glad to know Karla's hubby was right there following OR maybe he should have been in the lead vehicle - ....
Hi Sunny glad you are able to get on an chat.
I thought they didn't sale ironing boards anymore LOL the lol is only at the ironing board. Take it

Hi Sunny - good to see you this evening!
Is your new work location still in the Hgstwn area or are you traveling?
Hi Sunny!!
I was LOL too...I've always said ironing boards are hazardous to your health...
Did BWE have a duck (feathered bird) for their dinner this evening? I didn't get on before the night light hit and I think I see feathers in the nest.
Jo, I'm working in Chambersburg now, so I get my share of time on the highway each day. I'll be watching for ironing boards tomorrow! I think I have one around here somewhere, but it hasn't been used in a VERY long time. I also believe that if it need ironed, it stays in the store.

It is amazing where we can find a good laugh, ain't it. I love you guys!!
Dana - that all happened last night....then tonight there's another episode...that one where they sit around and talk, I think...
Heading that way tomorrow Wanda so I hope Karla gave that ironing board a BIG 1 2 heave ho throw into the median.
Wanda - glad Karla is OK...
Jo, BWE found a bird at BWO...he snagged it from a juvie there...then took back to nest.
Still no eagles at the Kent nest.
Paula someone told me that he choose the one from 2 and gave they became engaged. After being together awhile. He decided he didn't want the one he picked. He wanted the other one he let go. Is that correct?
Yup, he broke up with the one he picked, and asked the other one to marry him...I thought it all occured last night...but I could be wrong...
raining on the eagle at Caltran.
My ironing board folds up into the wall, so I love it, cause it usually stays there, in the wall.
eagle at HI, noisy again
WE female was laying down she is up now. Has anyone been watching her? Did it look like she laid an egg?

I THINK WE IS LAYING THE EGG
OK, cool, Dana- sure did look like she could've been laying an egg-
getting dark at KENT, was hoping they would come by at the end of the day
OMG, Wanda.....so glad that Karla is okay. Could have been so much worse...thank goodness her hubby didn't run into the back of her....the insurance company would love that!!! There was a commercial a few years ago where husband and wife hit each other!!
Those eagles at HI are really talking to each other.
Eagle at WE is really sitting still now- sure did look like she was pushing an egg out.
Megan, what does your dog do, when he hears the eagles at HI, they are so loud, plus all the other bird calling going on?
He hates it, he went downstairs. Sometimes it makes him bark, other times it just seems to annoy him.
Is Margy MIA again??? Where are you, Magpie???
I am sure there will be an egg at WE in the morning. I believe she laid it tonight.
I saw eagle flying around in H1 sure is pretty.
Wish they had a night light at WE.
Me too, cause it sure did look like she laid an egg. Thanks, I got the cam open just in time to see that.
Howdy, Rowdies! ☺
Not MIA, Hedgie, MIB - Missing in Blog....takes awhile to read all these "class notes" as Sunny calls them - so true!

It's rather comforting to see that LW has some Spidey threads too, and we are fortunate we have not seen too many of them at OUR nest lately.
Margy my hair was so straight did not need to do that....
Hedgie How is the family doing following the funeral?
Wonderful pictures that have been sent around today for BWE... I was thinking about that second eaglet all day...

I should have removed him to the outdoors, because now I cannot locate it! :(
I'm not a big fan of them.
That is quite a sight at BWE, all those black things, guess you all figured they are feathers.

Margy, I don't burp much since I had the gastric bypass. It is a wonderful thing. No heartburn!
1st visitor of the night at Saline,,,raccoon
BRS has pic of a beautiful sunset tonight in FLA on his blog page

"A little while ago I saw a pair of White-winged Scoters in some open water on the outlet of the lake. They are not common around here. "
