Yes Norma We were under winter storm warnings all day yesterday; well actually we still are for another hour...but instead of the 4 to 8 inches of snow we got about 3 inches in like an hour and then we got the sleet and freezing rain. It is an interesting texture out there LOL, but made it over for coffee and dog treats and am getting ready for church now. Its aobut a 5 minute drive on normal roads so not too far.
awww just snapped agreat picture of Hydie with his feet :-) I think that is always so cute when those feet are sticking out and yep that neck was popped right up there.
GLO---We have such a beautiful am here today---We had good rains yesterday & now---temp 52°--and the SUN is shining!!--Wish we could share it with you!!---DRIVE CAREFULLY!!
Send that sun down over the mountain, Norma as it is still grey outside.
I was also looking at our eaglet's feet! Some of my favorite pics of the past season are of the eaglets sitting with their 'big footsies' out in front of them!
No changes at the PA PERGRINE FALCON nest---still setting on 3 eggs!!----for you new folks---The nest is located on a ledge at the RACHAEL CARSON BUILDING!!---cool--

Getting myself ready for an afternoon outing...taking grandgirls to see Jack Hanna at The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown. Papers read, corn cakes for breakfast (YUM), kitchen cleaned up, trash ready to go out to roadside...now just need Margy's fairy to work on me!!! Enjoyed your pics, Wanda....that's the same thing that happened Fri. Belle moved egg up to outer edge...but it must have rolled back into egg cup!
I have watched BELLE & the EGG!!--Have seen her more that once poke the egg & stare at it, etc---then she gently pushes it back under with the HUGE CHICK that's in her nest!!
Norma, I said yesterday that I wished I was there to go to that seminar with you! Have always been taught that Nancy Hanks was born in that Saddle Mt. area, but cool that they have pinpointed it further.
OH HEDGIE!---I -- too have always been interested in NANCY HANKS LINCOLN---The MIN. CO. Historical society & many other folks living outside WV have been working on this for yrs & yrs.----They have a cabin there--an exact replica of the orig.---Interesting program yesterday!!!---
I have to tell you about Loch Lowe's noticed two birds there earlier, then while on the phone, there was some Major HP going on, then the male flew off, the cam operators panned the camera to follow his flight, then have been doing close-ups and other things. Now, a prayer that work does not call me for anything today, PLEASE.... xo
Norma, yes! Mom NBG was sitting, but bobbleheads were in front of her. After they got fed, she had to do a lot of side to side wiggles to get them under her. Could still see one in front! Dad at OK flew in w/big stick while Mom was feeding baby. Thought he was gonna whack it, but he managed to put over them to edge of nest. Getting kinda long time for other 2 eggs.
Lynn & Norma have heen talking about Jack Hanna. I should go to Hagerstown! The Fed. Pax Reasearch Ctr. Museum in Laurel, MD is having the last day of Wildlife Art Show today 11-4PM. Audubon 5K run/walk on May 2, entitled "This Race is for the Birds" -

NCTC !!!!
Details in Today's Martinsburg Journal, section E, page 4. Proceeds go to support the local Audubon Society's educational programs for children. The article mentions the Eagles, and how the walk route will allow protection of the Active nest, but that Eagles will probably be seen!
I can post some websites on here later ...would that not be Way Cool? I think I would be in the Walk division ☺
I was going to tell you that I looked closely at my Hummingbird feeder yesterday, and I see there are copious quantities of gnats floating there in.
That invariably means that the feeder is being used by a mother with chicks ... probably in the Fica tree opposite my balcony-patio.
I'm only guessing, but I think the Ruby Throated Hummer in your areas probably do the same. Have you noticed the little bugs in your feeders this time of year??
I don't hang feeders here in town... not even for other birds because of the squirrels and I had horrible two year in-ceiling residency of a squirrel and can't ever go through that again !

Good morning! It is sun shiney and 69. Gonna work in my yard after two days of cold temps! Yea!
Just returned from church and called my sister. BIL doing better. He is being moved to a reular room. Surgery will be tomorrow after lunch. We are leaving in the monning for Athens,TX. Dr told them this morning that he was not sure he was going to make it early yesterday. The infection had gotten into his blood. Scary!
Hi everyone. I am home after another long day. Highlights were a HERONRY and three common loons, one Swainson's Hawk, I hope! I have been studying hawks and don't think it is a Krider's Red-tail.
Good Sunday evening. Sure had a fun day! Jack Hanna's show was good....he had creatures from both the Columbus Zoo and The Maryland Zoo---nice collaborative effort. There was an absolutely beautiful bird whose name eludes me...has a neat crest of feahters (Mohawk-style)--it flew from the back of the theatre onto the stage. A flamingo, red-tailed hawk, red-shouldered hawk, a cougar cub, a python, a porcupine and an African porc with a strange name--big and beautiful. Also a young hyena, the snake-head turtle that he had on Letterman a few weeks ago, along w/ a big turtle that has a worm-like appendage on his tongue that he uses to lure fish into his mouth; and I'm forgetting what else!! Videos, and a long autograph session which made the show start late, and which he resumeed after the show!
Hope everyone is well, not caught up yet...finally home from moving DS & DIL into newly rented house...very nice 3 BR rancher in the country...apple orchards all around.
Margy - they are in Cashtown now, west of Gettysburg. I don't know if I will be here on May 2...if I am, I might be able to do that walk. Do you have a start time?
Lolly - Did you make that dinner? Sounds delish!
Thoughts and prayers for Deb & Ceils friends and Lolly's BIL. Safe travels tomorrow, Lolly.
Paula, GeeGee seems to be progressing really well. You really can't tell she had a stroke, except when she talks. Her speech is OK, but she forgets what she was talking about, often. Don't know any results of her scans. Thanks for asking....Now, how about those pies?
I'll make copies of the article that was in today's Journal so if anyone is interested I can just mail you a copy or you can to: www.journal-news.net then at the very top on the right you can type in Audubon 5K Run/Walk and hit Go for a search
Hey, hey, Paula! Glad you made it home safely. Bet you are one tired momster. How far a drive is it from Emmittsburg to Cashtown? Will you get to see them very often now?
Good to hear about GeeGee, Wanda.... - the good things that is, sorry about the memory lapse during conversation... soon maybe a monarch chrysalis will brighten up her days !
The local Audubon Society sponsors a lot of bird walks, in all the surrounding WV counties and sometimes elsewhere...but due to my work schedule I have never been able to commit to one yet....
I have a niece and a budding bird-watching great-nephew near Annapolis and I want to get to Sandy Point State Park ! Soon !
* Good Morning Eagle ♀ and ♂'s * Sure is early... I'm watching TWO Osprey at Loch of the Lowe's - male has been in and out, just returned with some ball of fluff, and the nest is taking shape there. Cam operators there like to pan the camera around from time to time...
Hope everyone has a good day today...
Megan... been watching for your "Sweet Peas" these last few days looking for you..hope your planting season is going well.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... I cringe, everytime I see Margy on here sooo early in the morning, knowing that she is getting ready to go to work. And then, there was Sissy, a very early bird. I'm wondering if Deb ever got up off the couch and wennt to bed:) No action in the nest right now, just a watchful, Lib looking all around. My weekend guest has gone home, so I will have the 'puter back today.
Margy said she saw a pair at L of the L, so I guess that means that Angus finally showed up;)
Good morning Wanda!! Been a busy weekend, didn't have time to even look at the blog!
We took our boat to the lake yesterday and, of course, it wouldn't start when we put it in the water. Had to take it back out of the water and take it to a repair shop. They said it was probably just a clogged fuel line, easy fix (let us pray!!).
But anyway, we had a good day. Tom goes back to day shift today and I am tickled to death. No more second shift!!

BWO UPDATE......
Nest Update
03/29/09:
On Saturday, we had two ospreys on the platform together and they brought in some sticks, but then we haven't seen much action since.
Photographer Bob Quinn did report seeing an osprey chase an eagle from the Osprey Cam nest.
Hi everyone. I am home after another long day. Highlights were a HERONRY and three common loons, one Swainson's Hawk, I hope! I have been studying hawks and don't think it is a Krider's Red-tail.
Two eaglets in CO and one egg. I can't see if it has any pip holes on it. First eaglet seen Friday AM, second eaglet hatched Friday afternoon.
Bob should be coming with pictures sometime soon since it sounds like he was at BW recently.
Beautiful day here! Had a great afternoon tending flower beds, emptying the greenhouse, etc.
Now I am ready to put my feet up and watch some TV.
Margy, you are a great neighbor...plunging the toilet!
Videos, and a long autograph session which made the show start late, and which he resumeed after the show!
Oh, a pink/cream colored armadillo from South America--smaller than I remember the Florida ones being--and a baby South American alligator.
Cold Case on....bbl.
Evening, all.
Hope everyone is well, not caught up yet...finally home from moving DS & DIL into newly rented house...very nice 3 BR rancher in the country...apple orchards all around.
Paula, does that mean that you will bring apple pies on our next nest visit?
Have to send DIL on a midnight run into the orchard next door :)
It will be really pretty when they are in bloom
Maybe at Open House, Wanda...
Sounds like a great new home for your son and daughter-in=law, Paula - whereabouts is it?
and Hedgie !
What a show!
Deb
Can't wait to see your pictures, esp of the Swainson's Hawk---want to see if it resembles what was in Lynn's trees last week...
"Common Loon" - isn't that an understatement of a name for such a spectacular bird !
Good Sunday Evening all, I am glowing from some quality time with my grandson.
I have managed to set the date and time on my new camera and take a few pictures...what fun !
xo
So, is anyone interested in the Audubon 5K Run/Walk on May 2 at NCTC ?? ( I would be in the "Walk" division, for sure...)
I think I am going to put in for the day off and give it a try, so long as it does not conflict with any field trip dates to Loretta's place...
I see only ONE hummingbird in the nest....
will have to check their blog posts and see what's going on...
Hedgie - Jack Hanna show, how cool!!
Wanda - How is GeeGee?
Margy - they are in Cashtown now, west of Gettysburg. I don't know if I will be here on May 2...if I am, I might be able to do that walk. Do you have a start time?
Lolly - Did you make that dinner? Sounds delish!
Thoughts and prayers for Deb & Ceils friends and Lolly's BIL. Safe travels tomorrow, Lolly.
Jo - glad the leg is feeling better.
Feeding at Two Harbors
Paula, GeeGee seems to be progressing really well. You really can't tell she had a stroke, except when she talks. Her speech is OK, but she forgets what she was talking about, often. Don't know any results of her scans. Thanks for asking....Now, how about those pies?
It took me seven minutes to post about Two Harbors! Those IWS sites clobber my computer !
Paula - I think it starts at 9 am - early registration for $18 by Apr 25 - free tshirt, on the day of, is $20 and free tshirt while supplies last...
Cashtown, great name ! ☺
I'll make copies of the article that was in today's Journal so if anyone is interested I can just mail you a copy or you can to:
www.journal-news.net then at the very top on the right you can type in Audubon 5K Run/Walk and hit Go for a search
Hey, hey, Paula! Glad you made it home safely. Bet you are one tired momster. How far a drive is it from Emmittsburg to Cashtown? Will you get to see them very often now?
Ahh, Open House. What a spectacular time we have that day. Only 6 and a half months to go:):)
Good to hear about GeeGee, Wanda.... - the good things that is, sorry about the memory lapse during conversation...
soon maybe a monarch chrysalis will brighten up her days !
Wanda - No apples yet! No pies yet!
Lynn, sounds like you had a really special day!
Soon !
The feeding at Two Harbors was pretty neat, two little grey birdies....I just couldn't post a post ! :(
Kids are about 20 minutes northwest now instead of northeast!
Thanks, Margy, I'll have to check that and my schedule...
Wanda - glad GG is feeling good.
The Night Bandit is at work, stealing away the time, I have to work in the morning, and I am yacking too much anyway..
so Good Night, Fare Well, Eagle Pals
Peace, Love and Prayers, for wellness and comfort, joy and serenity... xoxo
Regulars MIA today: Bluefield girls, Bedford gal, Pink Kitty lady, Alabama guy---hope all are well, and just out and about having fun!
Oh, and I guess the coolest news was big eagle feetsies in the nest!
Night, Margy. Here's hoping you rest well and have a good shift tomorrow.
Just read Paula's forwarded article about Decorah...very informative.
Well, I am going to say goodnight, dear friends. Prayers and peace.
I am saying good night, also. I didn't get to my pictures, I was falling asleep at the computer so I moved to the couch, more comfortable to nap. :(
Deb, get up off the couch and go to bed!:)
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE
SWEET DREAMS
PRAYERS FOR ALL
I hope everyone has a great week.

* Good Morning Eagle ♀ and ♂'s *
Sure is early...
I'm watching TWO Osprey at Loch of the Lowe's - male has been in and out, just returned with some ball of fluff, and the nest is taking shape there.
Cam operators there like to pan the camera around from time to time...
Hope everyone has a good day today...
Megan... been watching for your "Sweet Peas" these last few days looking for you..hope your planting season is going well.
xo
Good morning everyone!!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
I cringe, everytime I see Margy on here sooo early in the morning, knowing that she is getting ready to go to work. And then, there was Sissy, a very early bird.
I'm wondering if Deb ever got up off the couch and wennt to bed:)
No action in the nest right now, just a watchful, Lib looking all around.
Feeding going on at BWE right now!
MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!!----NEW THREAD FROM STEVE---COME ON OVER!
