I need to ask Steve a question about the cam setup. Do you look at the cam hanging at a 45° angle being supported on a limb with duct tape and take pride in what thousands of viewers are seeing. I think not!
I'm an old man who was taught to take pride in what I do and be aware of what others think. I have been following this cam and blog for a few years now and the excuse for cam problems is always bandwidth. Well if you can't get the bandwidth cancel the live cam and go back to a 30 second update one or improve it to a 20 or 10 second one. It's hard for me to believe the US Government cannot solve a smiple cam problem when we can watch other live cams with good audio from the forests of an island in British Columbia Canada or the jungles of Ecuador. If you don't have the budget to do something right then don't attempt it.
I apologize to everyone I have offended. If I get banned I hope you get your good cam system someday.

Sorry, Norma- I was outside in the GH:) I must work, not watch cams...must work..must work.... big beautiful moon full moon - the worm moon. Also known as the sap moon, time of year the sap starts to run. Surely the powerful effects of the moon will have some effect....

HEY Red- I share your frustration, as there are times when the cam drives me nutty- BUT- your comments are too harsh for me, cause yeah, I do take pride in what Steve and John and crew have accomplished on their own time with very little funds and all the while working with government rules and regs. This project was never part of their job at NCTC- only their love for the eagles has pushed them to share it with all of us. When I voice my complaints about the cam, it is just out of frustration cause I am missing the nest action. I do truly appreciate all Steve and John have done to help us see this nest. I personally, would like you to delete your comments, they seem way to personal.
Could it be that all of us are feeling a little stressed right now over how things really are in that nest and just wanting to "see" a little one..and celebrate together.
I'm sorry Megan but I am also a stubborn man. I'm not saying John and Steve have not worked hard. I'm just saying IF YOU DO SOMETHING TAKE PRIDE AND DO IT RIGHT. OR IF YOU CAN'T DO IT RIGHT AND TAKE PRIDE IN IT, DON'T DO IT. I would even help fund this project. A T-1 line would cost around $350 per month. Just a drop in the bucket compared to what they are spending on Hunters Training. lol
I am not stressed, but do admit to being frustrated and often griping when the live feed freezes. Steve pretty much told us last night this is the best they can do for now, and I accept that. If it's this or nothing, I take what we have. That said, I do not want Steve to think for a second that we do not appreciate all they have done. I love watching this cam, despite it's issues, It is still my favorite:) And now, I'm going back to work, so keep watching for that eaglet:)
$350 a month, That is a great piece of info especially since we do have good equiptment and a nice set up. How do we get that into play. My guess is there are $350 of us with $10 a month out there somewhere or even 7 with $50. Just a thought but I do not have a clue how or where T 1 lines even come from...I am grateful for my dsl :). Come on eaglet I am getting a little stressed. I even went back and counted the days to be sure we have the count right.

I agree with Megan's comments of 9:34 and 9:45 this morning regarding OUR Eagle Cam.
If Steve says this is the best they can do, then I trust that implicitly. We've been so fortunate to have what we have, despite some of the limitations. There is a whole lot more on this FWS site which reflects a great deal of work and effort regarding many Wildlife and Educational issues. If we have serious critical comments to make, then Steve has an email address readily available to all of us. That seems to be a more acceptable way to convey our more critical opinions and offer helpful suggestions.
And personally at this stage, I am more worried about the viability of these three eggs whether we get to watch it or not.
I agree with Mits as well, we are a planet in distress.

Well glad someone else is worrying with me LOL not intensely of course but concerned that viability for at least one may now be an issue.
I too like each of us of course deal with many human life situations that far outweigh... as much as I do love them ...what is happening on any eagle cam.
This is though my source of enjoyment and escape from those kinds of things and I do take that into account on a day to day basis...as in I did NOT watch that storm at BW while Snow White and frosty were being hatched...just not my idea of a peaceful escaping kind of thing to do. But those two are cute as a button right now.

Metrobus Driver Sucker Punches McGruff: Police
A Metrobus driver is accused of jumping out of his bus and punching McGruff as the Crime Dog made a public appearance.
Shawn Brim, who police said stopped his Metro bus, got out and punched the mascot in the face, was fired by Metro on Friday. He had been on administrative leave since the Feb. 28 incident.
Police Officer Tyrone Hardy, who was in the McGruff costume, suffered a swollen cheek in the incident.
Brim, 38, was charged with assault.

THE SALINE RIVER VALLEY IS EXPECTING VERY HIGH WINDS ON 10-MAR-09.
WIND GUSTS EXPECTED TO 60 MPH AT TIMES, CONSTANT WIND SPEEDS TO 35-40 MPH. WE FULLY EXPECT TO LOSE POWER DURING THE DAY. IF THAT HAPPENS, THE WEBCAM WILL NOT BE STREAMING

Hi, Thought you and others might be interested in this update. I just called Milford. Well.........here's the story. They don't know exactly what is wrong with it and they need to call in outside technical help. No idea when it will be done but they are aware that the osprey return within 2 weeks.
