Great videos, Paula. Thanks! Just taking a break to take a peek. It is just beautiful outside and as I work I can hear the hawks in the back yard of the neighbor across the street. It is so cool!
Our little eaglet may never make it out of the egg cup. It is so deep. LOL You can just see its head peeking up.
Sorry, I've been trying to get it to work for an hour and it won't go further than 7 seconds...It works fine on my computer. Paula, I'll email it to you.
No, Dana, he didn't say. The assumption had been Sat., based on actions of Lib and Belle, but chick looks like it could be a bit older than that, so.....we just don't have anyhting definite...thanks to a deep cup, blocked views, and no live feed for so many days. Steve took down the video...he'll work on it form home, he said.
Thank you Steve, Paula, as Mits said the video dept. and anyone else involved in that video clip. The sound of our 1st peeping chick is awesome. The tenderness of a Mother Bald Eagle feeding a tiny chick is a "Miracle" without NCTC Steve and the guys and this blog and live feed. Would not have been possible. I am greatful to ALL----Thanks EVEYONE !!!
I came on not a moment too soon. That video clip is without a doubt the most heart warming scene of a "Mother & Child" reunion !!! Brought tears to my eyes! Thank you Lib & Belle! and all of you faithful eagle buddies! Thank you Steve and audio dept and Paula for getting that out to us!
I had Surgeon's appointment today and he is very pleased with the recovery. Next appointment next Monday when staples would be removed. Saw the xray and looks very sturdy with that rod the whole way down the front! Putting feet up now - did stop for dinner before coming home.
Has a chick been spotted at OK yet? I think I saw one, but I am not sure. Not again, I wish these eagles would just stand up and let us have a good long look. :)
Hedgie I couldn't get it to load on my laptop so went to my desktop...I have several cams up on my laptop though so not sure if that was my problem. Keep trying...maybe bookmark...restart and go there first..then pull up Blog, etc etc. just a thought.
Eagle Nest Updates Winter Update #2 - March 16, 2009 Our first egg hatched out on Saturday, and the young eaglet looks healthy. The other two eggs are still in the nest, but have been hard to see. We hope they hatch out as well in the next several days.
Typically, bald eagle eggs will hatch in about 35 days, but there are instances where the time is as long as 45 days.
Remember that not all eggs are viable, although these adults have been very diligent this year in keeping the eggs warm and dry.
Thank you NCTC and Paula for that sweet video. That is the cutest chicklet I have ever seen:) He/she has been hiding from us for so long, maybe we should call it HEIDI. LOL
Yes, it would be cute if the chick is female, but who knows. You know, I can't remember our babies being that cute from last year:) My heart is just melting!
I just watched the video. No problem with it. LOve the name Heidi but suppose it is a boy. I don't think he would like it. LOL So glad we finally saw it. All weekend I would read there it is. I just got new $700.00 glasses and could not see it. Was about to call the eye doctor.
Paula thanks for putting in here on blog that Steve said chick hatched Saturday so that would be March 14th date of birth. Heidi is a cute name Wanda since it hide so much from us....I like it!! ( :
I got it and it is hooked up but still needs tweaking. I think it is me. As I get older my manners are going. Thanks to Steve and everyone on the great video. Thanks Paula for putting it on youtube. BBL
yippee I think our little one might have a name...i don't care how its spelled, i have never in 4 years spent so many days trying to see an eaglet in a nest!!!!
I am not the only one that saw a feeding a short time after 7 pm am I? I enlarged the live feed pic and saw that little ball of grey fluff with a black mask wiggling around in the nest...
I can't help but wonder, if the eagle's eggs were laid so early, would that have ANYTHING to do with their late hatching? You wouldn't think so, but it's happening with others.
Read blog, watch cam, read blog, watch cam... Caught up except for viewing Deb's slide shows. Thanks to all for the great pictures, and Especially Paula and the NCTC Staff for the Magnificent Video with Sound !
"Hundreds of Tundra Swans flying north this weekend, some of them are stopping to rest and eat for a while. This morning a flock came over with a Sandhill Crane flying in formation with the swans. That was very neat, I have been hoping to see one. " Drool...
I like Hidey/Heidi, too....spelling doesn't matter!!! Hi Margie! Bet your day has been l-o-n-g!! Know you couldn't wait to get home and check out the nest activity!!!
You know...after watching the video again, I think that something scared Belle that made her stop feeding and cover little "Hidey"---the way she suddenly looked up & around made me think that there was a threat of some kind. Anybody else notice it?
I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD A VOTE ON THE NAME OF THE CHICK!!!---or have I ever been asked----since day 1---when I suggested naming the chick "YEAGER"---(1st man to break the sound barrier!!) STEVE makes all of this possible---even gave us a new thread at 11:00 pm!!!---- I STILL VOTE FOR THE NAME "STEVY"---but guess it has already been decided!!!
Norma, the eaglet's name hasn't been decided. I just made a remark earlier about the chick should be called Heidi, because it was hiding for so long....It sounded like a good name to some. But there has been no vote.
It was in 2006 that there was talk about voting on the eaglets names after we had thousands of comments already made. I then mentioned we keep the names of the eaglets and instead vote on naming the adults. Like they had at the Wilson Bridge "George and Dorothy". That is when we all put different names in. Paula did the poll and SWEET LADY NORMA you did put in a vote for the adult eagle to me named "YEAGER". The most mentioned got down to 3 or 4 names to finally vote on. That is how we came up with Liberty and Belle. Keeping the eaglets Bigboy, MsInBetween, and Spunky. Those names for the eaglets was ones that was just mentioned as the chicks grew and the names stuck.

Yep, freezes at 7 secs for me, too.
Maybe it will work later...
I have tried everything to make it work, can't. I can play some of it, advance play a little more, etc. Darn! :( What i can see is really nice!
Does it have sound?
I can manually advance it some...but then just stops and says buffering...
Oh, it has sound:)
Sorry, I've been trying to get it to work for an hour and it won't go further than 7 seconds...It works fine on my computer. Paula, I'll email it to you.

I'll keep my eyes open for it!
Maybe it will let me reprocess it...

Hang on...it's processing....:):)

Lynn did Steve say by looking at the live feed down there when the chick hatched?
No, Dana, he didn't say. The assumption had been Sat., based on actions of Lib and Belle, but chick looks like it could be a bit older than that, so.....we just don't have anyhting definite...thanks to a deep cup, blocked views, and no live feed for so many days.
Steve took down the video...he'll work on it form home, he said.
Both!
I thought they were going to rewind the LIVE FEED and find out when the chick was hatched?
1 wants to switch, other wants to stay
I'm going back to still:)
Switch in process....

Radar shows it's probably raining there now.
Darn live feed froze when beak was in nest cup.

Hedgie I couldn't get it to load on my laptop so went to my desktop...I have several cams up on my laptop though so not sure if that was my problem. Keep trying...maybe bookmark...restart and go there first..then pull up Blog, etc etc. just a thought.
Speaking of sleeping, I did that most of the day yesterday and it was wonderful!
Okay, Glo, will try that. Didn't have any trouble w/ earlier ones, and had same stuff open, but maybe sound makes it harder!! Will go to PC.
Still two eggs in Tulsa, that might be it for them.
OMG...what a lovely sight and sound that was!!!! Thanks Paula, and Steve and NCTC folks!! Just beautiful!!
eagle up at OK
never mind its back down again saw 2 eggs
BRS near Knoxville
I was watching, too, Mits. I thought I saw all three eggs.
Tomorrow is Day 35 for Norfolk, so a hatching could be coming there soon, also, in the next few days.
heading to pass thru Sevierville, been there once, loved it, saw Lee Greenwood at his theatre, don't know if he still has one there.
I saw a 3rd object, was not sure if it was egg or chick...
I wish it were a chick, day 38 for first egg. I thought there was a hole on Sunday, but maybe not.
Steve also posted an update on the cam page...

I think I heard someone else mention a possible hole at OK also...on another forum....
The thanks go to Steve and NCTC...I just put in on youtube.
What happened to the video from Steve and Paula??
"We're sorry. This video is no longer available"

My video worked fine.
Try it again Jim. Youtube gives out that message sometimes...I just clicked the link and it came up fine for me...
Thank you NCTC and Paula for that sweet video. That is the cutest chicklet I have ever seen:) He/she has been hiding from us for so long, maybe we should call it HEIDI. LOL

I really like Heidi, good name, Wanda.
Yes, it would be cute if the chick is female, but who knows.
You know, I can't remember our babies being that cute from last year:) My heart is just melting!
seems like there is a feeding every half hour or less
OK, Paula, Steve, it is a great video.
It would not open with my FireFox, but I remembered that Paula uses Explorer. So I got my copy out of mothballs, and it opened the clip just fine.

Paula thanks for putting in here on blog that Steve said chick hatched Saturday so that would be March 14th date of birth. Heidi is a cute name Wanda since it hide so much from us....I like it!! ( :
belle seems to be looking for lib
I got it and it is hooked up but still needs tweaking. I think it is me. As I get older my manners are going. Thanks to Steve and everyone on the great video. Thanks Paula for putting it on youtube. BBL
I can hear Bill today!! First time.
Bill is really breaking up tonight, usually is very smooth running.
Thought it was just me, he sure gets going.
how about Hidey for a boy and Hidei. Let's play with the spellings.
he really is impressed with himself, bet the neighbors hate it
well since we are never ever going to know the sex, it really does not matter, I guess.....
I'm beginning to think all these nest are going to have later than 35 day hatchings.
BWE 1st was 38 days incubation.
Ours 1st was 42 days incubation (if that was the 1st egg.
Oklahoma 1st egg 35 days was March 13 already passed it is now 38 days and still going.
Caltrans 1 egg 35 days was March
13 aleady passed it is now 38 days and still going.
Heidi or Hidey is great...
What is that?
Spidey's web...
what?
yippee I think our little one might have a name...i don't care how its spelled, i have never in 4 years spent so many days trying to see an eaglet in a nest!!!!
Hey !
I am not the only one that saw a feeding a short time after 7 pm am I?
I enlarged the live feed pic and saw that little ball of grey fluff with a black mask wiggling around in the nest...
Good Evening Everyone ! ☺
I can't help but wonder, if the eagle's eggs were laid so early, would that have ANYTHING to do with their late hatching? You wouldn't think so, but it's happening with others.
Belle is up
I've stopped wondering, hurts the head:(
good evening magpie
A something else just now for a few minutes.
Spidey web thread is like a Palm Frond being waved over Belle's head... ☺
Margy, glad your home and seeing our little cutie. Did you see the video? Check it out, if you haven't.
It sure is nice to be able to see that darn spider web blowing in the breeze.
I can't believe you said that, Megan:):)
Read blog, watch cam, read blog, watch cam...
Caught up except for viewing Deb's slide shows.
Thanks to all for the great pictures, and Especially Paula and the NCTC Staff for the Magnificent Video with Sound !
Nice egg-turning? right then
Hi T-Bird ! ☺
Some more rain showers are headed towards the nest.
Oh, I gottcha...glad to any movement!
off to fix dinner and watch House.
I like it-the glass is half full!
Yeah, Megan it bears repeating, we do soooooo need rain...
☺
Howdy Hey everyone !
Hidey, Heidi - Great names !
I can't remember: Who is the Sandhill Crane person on here?
Mits I saw a cute little beany baby Anteater yesterday, must go back for it ! (at GoodWill)
i don't know Magpie
Oh, yeah, I opened the pictures of that anteater, it is adorable- in some strange way...odd looking little creature.
From my friend in New York (near Lake Erie):
"Hundreds of Tundra Swans flying north this weekend, some
of them are stopping to rest and eat for a while. This morning a
flock came over with a Sandhill Crane flying in formation with the
swans. That was very neat, I have been hoping to see one.
"
Drool...
Bird looking straight up OUR nest - was....
Genie is the sandhill crane fan.
Those baby aardvarks are sooooooooo cute!
Thanks Paula!
I think I shall email her the comment from my friend...
Aaargh cannot see the slide show Deb posted...only the left hand of the nest view shows :(
But I sure loved all those pictures!
Rustling in the nest again
I like Hidey/Heidi, too....spelling doesn't matter!!!
Hi Margie! Bet your day has been l-o-n-g!! Know you couldn't wait to get home and check out the nest activity!!!
One thing I like about the still cam when it is ahead of the Live, gives a preview of what is coming along !
I like that too, Magpie
And time for my Manners !
Mema Jo
Great Report....and No Surprise that your recovery is going well, with your "Home Health Care" including " Mr. Jo.." (Ed ! )
xo ☺ ♥
...not sure which is more exhausting: Trying to catch up on the day's events, or working a
12-hour shift at 9-1-1 !
☺
Big time tenting going on
Eagle scootched down in the nest at Lake Washington
Okla fussing with nest now
She was just sort of up, Okla, but I could only see a little of the eggs nothing definitive
Looks like Maine Forum's got it covered pretty well, so I will just watch
LW really relaxing in her nest
I have to get up and MOVE - have computer neck and shoulders!
OH MY!!!---Couldn't figure out what was the light on the side of the nest!!----I guess that is SPIDEY??
Okay, I will put in my 2 cents worth - I love the name Heidi!!
Or Hidey, named after Spidey!
So, how is everyone on this fine evening??
Margie, I talked to Janie today and she said hundreds of Tundra Swans were in her area of Idaho this weekend.
Norma = just Spidey's web
Hidey rhymes with Spidey.
I STILL THINK WE SHOULD NAME THE CHICK----STEVY!!!!!!!!---- Who gets to name the chick???----We will need 2 more names----
Any of the chicks will be hiding!---BELLE has such a deep bowl there---She has been digging most of the day!!
Well gang don't let the bed bugs bite. I hope you all have a fine night. Later gator and all that jazz.
Nobody emailed me! Major congrats on your chick!!!!!
Sounds wonderful, Deb !
Stevy - that IS a good idea, Norma...hopefully we will be able to play around with Two or Three Names !
You know...after watching the video again, I think that something scared Belle that made her stop feeding and cover little "Hidey"---the way she suddenly looked up & around made me think that there was a threat of some kind. Anybody else notice it?
Lisa...
I think we all lost our MINDS and our MANNERS over the week-end...
and some of us even changed our monikers!
Sorry for the Faux Pas...
When we are not watching OUR Nest, we are often watching YOURS xo ☺
I HAVE NEVER EVER HAD A VOTE ON THE NAME OF THE CHICK!!!---or have I ever been asked----since day 1---when I suggested naming the chick "YEAGER"---(1st man to break the sound barrier!!)
STEVE makes all of this possible---even gave us a new thread at 11:00 pm!!!---- I STILL VOTE FOR THE NAME "STEVY"---but guess it has already been decided!!!
Thanks MAGPIE!---But it has already been decided!!-----like the others!!--It's ok---
I don't think anything has been decided at all-
Norma, the eaglet's name hasn't been decided. I just made a remark earlier about the chick should be called Heidi, because it was hiding for so long....It sounded like a good name to some. But there has been no vote.
Hedgie
I noticed the same thing on the video and thought the same thing.
I'm all frozen up here, computer, AND BODY - time to clean things up and myself too !
TTFN Back Later...xoxo ☺
I don't remember voting last year.
I think the only vote was for names for the adults.
I'M SO VERY SORRY!!---I very RARELY sound off like that----please forgive me--- really don't care what you name him!!----
We didn't vote last year, the names just evolved. Didn't people called the last one by different names?
Here is the last line from my friend about the Tundra Swans and the LONE Sandhill Crane that I should have posted earlier...
"... It was
calling loudly right along with the swans. "
Sent the message to Genie..
Well, NOW, TTFN xo
That's okay, Norma!
Raccoons at Saline.
Eagle is still tenting, are you getting a nice rain?
HO, Norma.....no vote! Just speaking our thoughts out loud!
Yes, Deb, the middle chick was called Middy, Midly and Sharon had a similar name for it. It's all good:)
I'm SERIOUS---'HIEDY' --is a great name!!
Yes, Deb, pretty decent at the moment. It's been on and off nuisance until about an hour ago and now a steady light rain.
Norma - You suggested Glennis and Yeager as one of the set of names when we were voting to name Lib and Belle.
I think we should have a vote this year...we haven't in the past, because the names just evolved...
What do ya'll think???????
what were the chicks names last year?
I don't care eaglet is a fine name.
Eaglet #1!
PEARL, MIDDY AND TINY.
thanks:)
Back to Dancing.
HO, Norma.....no vote! Just speaking our thoughts out loud!
Black Cat at Saline.
Voting sounds fun!
Spidey is alive and hunting!
Here we go again...blogged cop posted my comment twice at an interval!!
Was that spidey's foot...or did you see all of him...
A vote sounds good, Paula!
What!! I'm missing Dancing!
