Morning, everyone. I slept in this morning. I was up at 6, but fell back to sleep today.

ceil said...

Arrgh. Going to give up on computers. They don't like me. Posted twice. Sorry.

Funny, guess the OK eagle woke too early this morning. Taking a panda nap, or is it a cat nap? Maybe just an eagle nap!

Finished the paper, guess I will go get beautiful and prepared to face the day.

Have a great day everyone. I will be in and out, checking on NBG and OK, as well as our nest.

Good morning everyone. I am home from work. Going to fix some breakfast and pull up a few cams and then probably fall asleep :).

Enjoy your day.

paula eagleholic said...

Since we don't know which egg hatched, I am including all the info for all the eggs. This is the last day I will post this info. I personally don't think a chick would hatch after 40 days, if in fact it was the second egg that hatched last Saturday.

If we don't have a hatch today, I would assume it was the third egg that hatched last Saturday, at 36 days.

March 18, 2009

Today's egg stats - not including day egg was laid

Egg #1 46 days
Egg #2 44 days
Egg #3 40 days

paula eagleholic said...

Have a nice breakfast and a good sleep, Glo.

Morning y'all! Getting caught up slowly but surely.
Yes, Norma....area code requirement is statewide.
Dana, loved the polar bears...quite a size difference between the cubs...are they from the same litter?
Jim, I thought they had already determined that Buddy would never be able to be released....????

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

There are many pluses to have 1 eaglet. Don't have to worry about the littlest one being fed, don't have to worry about it being pecked into submission, don't have to worry about the others kicking it out of the nest.

Mema Jo said...

Both in our nest

glo said...

Yes Vicky I had read about the hatch yesterday but didn't see any good captures of movement. I have one for us today. You knwo how it is when you see things so took the careul route today.

paula eagleholic said...

glo said...

Go see our youngest eaglet of the season Baby Caltrans

well for those of you who would like to see todays video it is posted for you.

If its old news for you then perhaps it will be fun for others. I surely enjoyed watching the little one.

hedgie said...

Been suffering quite a bit w/ this stupid tooth, gang....alternating between sensitivity and downright pain....and it is pain now. Called dentist...off today (golf course, no doubt!) so I go back tomorrow afternnon. No way I can put up with this until permanent crown on the 31st. ARGH!

paula eagleholic said...

Mits - here's the link to the last page of the Caltrans thread....you can access Lori's video from there.

Caltrans Thread - Maine Forum

paula eagleholic said...

No Glo, it is certainly new news to me!

paula eagleholic said...

OK should be next...looks like spots on a couple of eggs there..

Good Capture, Glo

deb said...

Very cute, Glo! Now to watch Maine's clip.

paula eagleholic said...

LOL, or NOrfolk....chicks gonna bust out all over!

paula eagleholic said...

Hedgie - did they do a root canal, too?

movin said...

Hedgie, I have not seen anything official that Buddy cannot be released. But many fear that they've screwed around so long with him that he's going to be an educational tool.

On the other hand, I asked Dr. Sharpe (Catalina) about that several months ago, and he said that as long as they don't become too familiar with humans, that there isn't much limit on how old they can be to be released. I don't know how they feel where they are treating him, but they do not seem to be in a hurry to straighten his beak, you know it!

Just came in with a nice I think fish at Caltrans. Its fun watching them approach the nest...now that leaving well gonna be otugh to watch at fledge time. JMHO.

Also for those of you who are helping me with this there are new photos on Glos Glimpses...no eagles this time :(.. hope you will still be onboard. whole new territory or me and my camera LOL.

Glo's Glimpses

Glo, your video stops at 10 secs. Do you think you can fix that?

Lolly said...

Yea! I did so well declaring it spring yesterday!! Hummer at the feeder this morning!!!! I was eating breakfast and almost choked I was so surprised! They tell us to put the feeders out April 1. One year on April 1, no lie, there was a hummer at the window where I hang my feeder and had NOT put it up yet. Smart little birds return to same feeder. Who new?

Yea, too, for Caltrans! Cute video.

I am happy with one chick this year. I was so afraid we would not have any!!!

Time to go brush my teeth and head to the dentist!

BBL

glo said...

Seems like lots of napping at OK..think they been listening to peeps all night over there LOL

Lolly said...

Make that, "who knew". LOL

glo said...

I sure wish I could zoom in on Caltrans like that. Loris got a great capture of movement. I never saw that beore leaving for work.Is that Vista or am I missing something about how that cam works LOL

glo said...

Sorry Jim not sure what the problem is for you. Plays all the way through for me. Is anyone else having trouble getting it to play through?

Mema Jo said...

That was good Glo
It played smoothly the whole way through for me. Not sure what caused Jim's to stop.

Mema Jo said...

I didn't realize they had a night light at Caltrans. I see it on the slide show up on ME forum

paula eagleholic said...

No, she doesn't have any special zoom that I know of...it's right from the camera....but the view is bigger when you post it to youtube...

paula eagleholic said...

Is there a trick to "unpausing" OK if you accidently click on one of the cam pics...besides reloading the entire page?

Mits said...

thanks, Paula:)

paula eagleholic said...

Sure does look like one....I didn't think they had one....must only be on in the morning...cam shuts off before dark

Mits said...

worked FINE for me, Glo:)

paula eagleholic said...

Can see spots on at least 2 eggs at OK

Lori and PattieO's clips were good too from Caltrans nest

Mits said...

66° at OK

hedgie said...

No, Paula, no root canal.
Jim, I think that with Buddy's situation, the beak will always grow w/ deviation, so will have to continuously be dremeled in order to maintain enough alignment that he can eat. Could have sworn I read that somewhere! Maybe just dreamed it.

Mits said...

don't know how he could go back to the wild, Lynn....

paula eagleholic said...

Belle up - great view of chicklet

paula eagleholic said...

Looks like Eatin' time again!

hedgie said...

Heading out for bank, P.O., and late lunch w/ daughter...hope I can eat something w/o more pain!
Glo, will check your new pics later and let you know my favs!
Have a good afternoon, folks. BBL!

paula eagleholic said...

They have to dremmel the beak, then let it grow out, then dremmel some more. It's a slow process, Jim, not an instant fix.

Costume Lady said...

I just saw the video that Paula put on here for us...Caltrans, I think and that Mama sure can WIGGLE! I know now why I made the remark that I didn't remember our babies from last year being as cute as (Hidey)this one...I was out west when the babes hatched last year and didn't get to see them right away. If this one is the ONLY one we have, it will become enormous, quickly!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I just found a whole pack of cigarettes in my bedroom that had never been opened. I cannot say that the strong thought did not cross my mind to open that sucker up and smoke one. I immediately called Sissy and Tom so I wouldn't be tempted. Quitting smoking and staying quit has not been an easy jaunt for me but since they are $4.59 a pack now, I am pretty grateful that I don't smoke.

deb said...

Sharon, glad you called in the reinforcement crew! That is expensive, I had no idea they were up to that.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Deb, I didn't either until I passed a sign yesterday that had that price on it, like it was a bargain or something.

Red said...

Sharon, Anyone who can quit smoking cold turkey is on my list of people to look up to. I finally quit after 55 years of smoking but I had to get lots of help.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

But, if I were still smoking, you can bet your sweet bippy I would be paying out $10 a day for 2 of those packs!

paula eagleholic said...

That would be the very cheapest you could pay for a pack in Maryland...most packs are $5.50 to $6..and the Fed's are gonna add another .70 cents tax come April 1st, I've heard.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I remember driving through Maryland last year and they were so much higher there than in WV.

deb said...

I am on my way to grocery store, I'll have to see how much they cost here.

deb said...

Our chick is alone in the nest/

deb said...

Make that was!

paula eagleholic said...

OUr nest was MT...eagle back

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Do you all see our precious baby??

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

OMG, look at those little wings moving!

deb said...

Red, I am impressed with anyone who can quit, no matter how it is accomplished. I am just so glad I never started.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I was watching the movement of the eaglet and kept thinking I was seeing more than one but it always turned out to be the wing of Hidey.

deb said...

Off to grocery store, my sister is coming down today. Better have something for her to eat!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I don't know what I would do if my sister didn't supply me with food! But mine is an every day visit!

Anne-Marie said...

I may need new glasses but I still see two.... Maybe its old age.

magpie said...

Oh my that was cute !

Baby Eaglet and Parent...

Hi Anne-Marie! ☺

paula eagleholic said...

Anne - there is only one chick moving in the nest

movin said...

Absolutely, Sharon, do not smoke even one.

I can't tell you how many times I got rehooked on smokes by 'just one.' ... Usually when I was drinking or playing cards, and 'just one' seemed like a good plan at the time.

Anyway, I quit almost 7 years ago on the doctors' orders, and I haven't had one since. And the cravings have died down to a few now and then. But I think I've got it whipped as long as I don't give in to that 'just one won't hurt anything' urge.

I'm betting on Paulas eyes.
