With all this excitement, I am headed back in to my recliner for a while & get my leg up. Hope to be back before bedtime

NatureNut said...

Oh Please stand up, Belle. I wanna take a pic before dark and get some din din! ☺

floralgirl said...

Raining there again, so she is tenting a little.

glo said...

she's tenting must still be rain to deal with. I am so glad I got to share some of this afternoons excitement with all of you. Will be lurking now for the most part. I am sure it will be an ealry night here..running on about 2 hours of sleep...starting to feel it for sure.

glo said...

its not snowing on Belle is it argh!!!!

NatureNut said...

Gosh Glo, you're worse that me on sleep. I had sleep, but did not go to Park today where there is puter :>( . They had a special "Science for Children" expo at another Park where most of us went. Helped little kids make fish prints! They put small roller on paint spread on dish & rolled it onto rubbery fish & then placed on colored paper! What fun! They counted 300 guests--not all were kids of course, but felt like it! ☺

floralgirl said...

It is not snow, it's rain- it is 40° here.

hedgie said...

No, Glo, not snow...just must be the rain is falling in front of the cam!

Lolly said...

Well, Loretta, sounds like you had a good day with the kids. That is my kind of thing.

Yes, I really better not be on much tonight. I have not accomplished one thing! I have sat right here in my chair and blogged. However, it has been a very special day!

T-Bird said...

I'm changing into my lurking outfit now to. Thank you all for the fine company today. Thanks especially to Lib and Belle and our new little one.

glo said...

ok thanks megan guess thats better sort off..little one or whatever are being well cared for.

NatureNut said...

Lolly, I haven't accomplished much for a year! LOL Lotta guilt and anxiety about that due to camaholic disease!! ☺ ☺ ☺

Costume Lady said...

Oh, thank you, Loretta for putting a name on our disease! I'm so glad that someone else has the same problem. I really don't think there is a cure for it:)

wvgal_dana said...

It is VERY CONTAGIOUS with NO CURE!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

We could hold 12-step meetings for it but we would have to have our laptops set up so we could continue watching!!

NatureNut said...

I gotta at least go for coffee. I don't guess she will get up w/rain coming down. It does glisten on "upper" wing like snow.
Wanda, I was thinking cam addiction too, but this will work! ☺ ☺ ☺

I used to get on the blog to get rid of my anxieties, but now, it is making me very anxious. Knowing how wonderful it would be to see this little chick on the Live Feed is almost more than I can handle:(

Can anyone tell me how to find posts of the new chicklet?

deb said...

There haven't been any really good sightings yet, Genie. If you click on Lolly's name and look under Misc. Pictures, there are some there. You can also click on my name and go to nest pictures.

NatureNut said...

Big black kitty at Saline munching out!

normabyrd said...

DEB!!---What a photo!!---LIB has brought her a BLOODY RED RABBIT!-------I love that part!!!---ISN'T NATURE WONDERFUL!!

deb said...

Three mammals, Norma. One rabbit for sure, the others, not quite so sure. Maybe the second was another rabbit.

Lolly said...

Y'all are a riot. Prepared dinner and ate, occasionally peeking in. Camaholic! I love it! Laurel told me today I was addicted! Just need a maid to clean and a cook and I can just sit here! Who needs a 12 step program! LOL

glo said...

Genie I will also be posting something very special to FTLOE Blog very soon. Working on it now.

Mits said...

Hello, back...Lolly enjoy your wine, Paula said when I get a definite view of a chick being fed, call her, I have not seen a beak to chick mouth yet...Dana, no modem for Ceil, she called, but of course they are closed on Saturdays, and computer is down again....and she has had it with the computer, will probably hear of a crazy woman throwing her computer out the window tonight.

Lolly said...

Checked Maine forum again. They are saying "what a guy" about Lib! They also think it is snowing. They should check with us, just like we check on them.

Genie said...

Thanks Deb. I get so frustrated tying to find things on the Momsters pages.

I do wish the "people in charge" at NCTC would check with some of the other nest cam people..Norfolk, Okla, the Calif nest cams...and see how they manage to keep their cams working most of the time.

It is certainly not conducive to sending money to support the NCTC cam when it is "out of order" so much of the time. I have pretty much stopped even trying to watch it, just check the Daily Blog and see if anything is happening and if anyone managed to get a picture.

I hope I am not offending anyone, but thought it should be pointed out that I cannot ask my sandhill crane friends to financially support NCTC when there are so many others that seem to keep their cams working.

Mits said...

you are absolutely correct, Genie, don't throw money down the toilet.

Genie said...

Glo, thanks for keeping the FTLOE Blog so current. I check it every day and nearly always find great pics and videos, and am always sending my sandhill crane friends there to check it out. They love it!!!

magpie said...

I made a guess as to how many posts there would be on the Blog..I guessed 555 - see I was WAY UNDER - Now, to Read All About It ! Saw just a teeny bit before I had to leave for work...now for the Fun !

Hi Margy! We certainly had fun today! You were missed!

Thanks for the pictures. They arrived today. I was on the blog when Jack brought the mail to me. Very fitting!

normabyrd said...

DEB!---When LIB brought food to BELLE-----Isn't that a sure sign that there is a chick?------Also the chick doesn't eat for 24 hrs after hatched?----Right?---Could you send me one your pics with the rabbit??----

magpie said...

Camoholism
That is IT ! And I have Camo pants to wear to go along with it!

Okay, I have read all of 38 posts so far!
You friends are hilarious.
Oh to go see the pictures too.
I was watching at the time but computer was going thru virus scan -
could only watch Belle with that broken egg, then up down up down, learned how to be a 30-second housekeeper for sure

Lolly said...

Glo...great job! The song worked out perfect what with rain coming down.

deb said...

Norma, I would say it is a very good sign that Lib brought not one, but three food offerings to the nest. The chick does not HAVE to eat in the first 24 hours, but it can eat if it wants to. i'll get a picture to send you.

normabyrd said...

WHOA! MARGY!---Will we recognize you when we see you next time!! ho!

glo said...

LOL Lolly Did you actually get to hear the right song? I had to redo do the whole thing a few minutes ago as I forgot to save the song I wanted to the video instead of the one that Smilebox used. Anyway The right one is on there now..sure hope everyone hears the right song. I knew I was gonna run with your idea as soon as I heard it LOL.

Ok Here is the link to our NCTC Celebration..

deb said...

Norma, you have mail.

Lolly said...

Yes, I heard Perry singing! Love that song!

normabyrd said...

Thanks DEB!---I read that the male EAGLE will bring the food when he hears the chick ---pecking its way out of the shell-----WILL OWE YOU BIG TIME!!!!

deb said...

Ha, I thought it was Bing Crosby!

deb said...

One eagle at LW, they have been in and out this afternoon.

glo said...

HaHa OK great. Guess it is good to go. You must have been the first one to hear it once I reloaded it right :). I love that song too. Good night everyone. Off to bed now...we will see our new family in the am well hopefully we will if they will feed form the back side of the nest anyway.

normabyrd said...

if interested the big east play- off is on now----SYR v L'VILLE!!

glo said...

LOL Deb...well close

Lolly said...

i have decided the second offering brought to the nest is a rabbit as well. It still had it's head at the bottom of the screen. LOL I was picking up my laptop and holding it upside down to look at the yucky thing. Can not tell what the third offering was.

BWO update.........

Nest Update

03/14/09:
For those who are new to osprey identification, the gender of ospreys -- or fish hawks -- can often be easily recognized.

In North America, female ospreys have a brown "necklace" while males often have an all-white chest.

Bob Quinn said...

Geez, lots of posts today. I stopped by the BW eagle festival for just a couple of minutes and shot some owls and a hawk from an exhibit. They are at the end of a gallery of a couple of shots I took last week at BW.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Lolly, I can so see you turning your laptop around trying to figure it out. How funny!

There was just something about today that I knew beyond any doubt we had a baby. I had just told Jim a few minutes before that that we were hesitant about speculation and then the proof is in the pudding.

normabyrd said...

Nite---TOTALLY NUTTY!!--EAGLE DREAMS!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Hey Bob, how the heck are ya?? We have a baby but I guess you already knew that.

deb said...

Great pictures, Bob! I love all the swans.

floralgirl said...

Nice, Bob! I like the pelican shots.

Bob Quinn said...

So weird that those pelicans are at BW. I guess they hung a right when they should have gone left.

Lolly said...

I like the pelicans, too. When Michael was little he called them Potties. ???? We would break the word down, have him repeat the syllables, and he would still say Potty.
So, Jack cam up with....

A wonderful bird is the Potty
His beak can hold more than his boty.

Oh, well.....

Mits said...

ok, Lolly sounds like the wine is kicking in.

from Loraine...

Well I hate to say this but we don't believe Star and Spirit will be nesting at this nest this year. Either something has happened or they've found an alternate, although both birds (or two other adults) have been here off and on and were here just a few days ago.. Week before last one was screeching like crazy every morning for a week, he/she would leave and return again the next day. Since then like I say they've been back but not to stay like they should be. It is already mid-March and by now the nest should be ready, they would have mated & eggs would be on the way too.. March 20th through 25 or so are typical egg laying dates if my memory serves me correctly. The nest is no where near ready and they haven't been around to spend but one night here. I guess stranger things have happened so we'll just continue to wait and see.

magpie said...

Wow, Susan had some great comments, she is soooooo lucky to be in that Master Naturalist class ! Field trips at NCTC and Great Cacapon State Park are part of the curriculum !
