The herons are nesting & there is an eagle in the LWash nest. Behind the tree trunk. Can you get it up/running Deb
Hi Dana Give me the url for Lola I am never sure about the osprey nest.
I hope that Lady BW was feeding at least the one chick! That is one reason I LOVE THE LIVE FEED! You can not tell what movements are made during the refresh!
I can open that osprey site, but I don't get a live feed. I was reading and it keeps referring to Internet Explorer, so I assume that is why I can't get it.
Pecking Pearl is ever vivilanat. Wants to make sure the chick by the parent doesnt steal any of the food. lol Pearl will be up there next. Poor Little bit has bit the dust and is sleeping.
Is anybody counting bites for Tiny Lit Lun? Pecking Pearl deserves that name. Did little bit get enough? Hang in there, junior spunkster. Yes, I remember the blue teddy bear, too. BBLater guys and gals. donna
Hey everybody! The results are in from the Refuge photo contest. I didn't win any prizes but I did get two photos that will be going into the Refuge Image Library (which was my goal).
On another note, I got an email from Lisa asking me to keep an eye out for osprey and eagle fishing activity at BW. She is concerned there haven't been sightings of osprey with fish on the osprey cam platform and the disproportionate number of ducks at the eagle cam platform. I did see an osprey catch a small fish this past Sunday at BW. I'll keep you all posted.
Well, no sour grapes from me Mits. There were tons of good ones but I agree, the first one looks like something was altered in Photoshop. Its still beautiful though.
Hi, eagle & eaglet lovers. Just now had some time to log on. Been busy, busy, busy. It's so good to see and hear our eagle family. I love it that the eaglets are wandering out of the cup. They are such cuties! Welcome to new bloggers Misty and Dawne. I have a question - I can't watch the nest at night. Do the eaglets get fed at night? If so - do they get fed as much as they do during the day?
Congrats, Bob, that is a great honor! Some of the pictures are really beautiful and some I look at and think Bob's are nicer than that one. I know everyone has their own opinion and Mits is right, we are just a little biased.
Kidd and Lola are in the nest at CT Osprey. Kidd has a nice size fish in there. Something is still bothering them. Kidd just took off wit the fish in his talcons.
Here's a little more info from the email Lisa sent:
For a couple months now, the two eagle parents have seemed to have trouble producing fish. They both have caught a larger amount of birds than we've seen in the past, and right now they're not producing more than one fish every three days or so.
Also, our returning ospreys, that have been seen on the platform, have yet to bring one fish meal there. In fact it looks like they've almost abandoned the platform.
I asked Tom Miller -- our ranger -- if the drought had caused a shortage of fish. He emailed John Gill, our fisheries expert, who said their sample nets seemed to be normal.
I wonder if the female that was there last year is nesting at a different platform there at the refuge with a different mate..or she hasn't found a new mate. Maybe we need an entirely new pair to adopt the cam platform as their home.
I guess I am partial also, Bob but I sure do like the looks of that Harris Hawk and the sunset if awesome! I am glad you made your goal of having two of your photos into the Refuge Image Library!
It is going to be devastating if the fish supply has gone down - but it would really explain what we are seeing in the eagle's nest. That one little one, I don't think, is going to make it. Trying to see if and when he actually moves. I am sure Lisa has staff and even herself monitoring the nest.
Paula - when I was there last Sunday there was a lone osprey sitting on almost every platform except the cam platform and the one that's real close to the wildlife drive. I wonder if those are the least desirable and the last to be occupied.
I also saw the top of an eagle head in a nest not too far from the entrance to the drive. I think that nest was empty last year but produced two eaglets the year before. Nice to see its active again.
I'm not counting bites but TeenyWeeny is getting alot - along with MidSize. I think that Pecking Pearl is lying there all alone... don't know why? This will be interesting to watch.
BOB CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING TWO OF YOUR PICS IN THE REFUGE IMAGE LIBRARY. They are both just as beautiful as all of your pics AND what was that first prize winner? You couldn't see much for the fog. It wasn't something I would look at twice. You capture the best nature shots ever. kEEP ON CLIKCING.
03/26/08: We're still confused by the lack of time that our ospreys seem to be spending at the nest. This is the first year we've gone this late with so little activity.
If our original pair does not want the nest, we would think a new osprey pair would make a move for the platform.
This has been a very nice and enjoyable feeding. Every chick was polite; even PP when she woke up. It looks like little bit is full right up to the top and ready for a nap. ;)
MITS, I saw one white oval. Isn't there supposed to be two. She got right off the egg cup, walked around and took her own sweet time, looking around and to the sky. Then she came back over and carefully layed back down.
Last year, if it was the first egg that broke, then the second egg hatched at 35 days...if it was the second egg that broke, then hatch would have been at 39 days for first egg...so, I think there's a few more days to wait there.
It appears the BWE chicks are conserving their energy...although I think it's hard to tell how active they are with the 30 second cam...but I don't beleive they are quite as active as ours...if we had some current video we could tell.
Thank you ladies for making such good comments. When I came back after my panda nap. I read and felt like I was still right here with you all and the 3 eaglets of ours. Very good commenting ( :
thanks, Paula...thought so...that is what the adult eagle has been doing today, comes in head stays down, chick sorta, crawls over, but I don't see any real exchange of food....was wondering if the people at the visitor center see more going on then we do with the 30 second cam

parent gone already at BWE, DON'T SEE ANY REMANTS OF FOOD
Could be Dana, the last few days, there has been a large white-headed bird, down on the look-out post.
Lola had something to small to eat in nest. Maybe it wanted it. She after flying upward to ward off the intruder decided to take her meal and leave.
Well, I have an appointment but will be back later, maybe 2:30 or so. Keep good notes!
Well this intruder could be it cause it was in sky and white head.
see ya, Sharon
Parent back at our nest
our eagle back

Pecking Pearl needs to take a hike! :)

Yes, Jo, I have it open. I want a window in the tree!!
Those 2 up front make good offensive linemen for the little quarterback
Pecking Pearl is just too much!
I'm hoping that the middle one gets fed next like the oldest one is now.
TeenyWeeny - You're turn is coming!!
Come on Little Bit, crawl over the top
The middle one just refused a bite and laid head back down - for fear of being pecked by you know who I bet!
I can open that osprey site, but I don't get a live feed. I was reading and it keeps referring to Internet Explorer, so I assume that is why I can't get it.
Just seen "spidey" running around the white tree branch where horsie is.
little one gave up
little one back in the game
Tiny weinee got some food ha ha
Up the hill
Climb Up the hill
Stretch TeenyWeeny
Hopefully Pecking Pearl has a full tummy and the parent isn't tired of feeding..........
poor middle one climbed out of pecking range
something just flew by under the right side of the nest
You don't think that TeenyWeeny is choking do you? lol
OK Pecking Pearl is out of the race!
Did you all see the littlest get a big piece and was shaking its head to get the piece down it throat...an got it !! hee hee
WHOO HOO
What a shot!
Hey you all, I finally saw my first chick poop shoot. Im lmbo
thought he was going to need the Heimlich Maneuver
Woo Birdie (Tess) is REALLy catching air again..higher this time than most.
Hi all, been busy and haven't been on. So now I'm gonna say bye all.
All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
I thought at first that the poop shoot was going to get Pecking Pearl!
That little guy was powerful! Clear
out of the nest!
I saw the fly by on the right side of the nest Mits! I though it a small black bird of some sort.
There is going to be a tumble by our middle guy soon
See you tomorrow Suzanne.
it went by so fast Jo, I couldn't tell what it was.
I got worried when the litlest one looked like it was choking on big piece. He swallow it ok tho.
See you tomorrow Suzanne tc ( :
I guess the parent gave up feeding. It must have been Liberty. Belle, being the MOM, sould have seen that each got their equal share. :)
Have a safe trip home SUZANNE. TTUT

Thanks, Bob. Think the judges have poor eyesight, that 1st place one looks fake....liked yours better.

of course I am biased when it comes to your photos, Bob...Congrats.

Afternoon, all. Been in meetings this morning...sounds like all is well here.
But now it's time for lunch!
I agree on the that first pic, too.
We love your pics, Bob. There were some nice ones there, tho.
Bob your pictures are awesome contragulations on the two that got into the Refuge Image Library since that was what you really wanted. I do so hope you can visit BW and see if you can see what is going on. With the osprey not getting fish hardly. Something just doesn't seem right down there. Even the eagle female hasn't caught much to bring to her chicks at BW.
Bob keep us and Lisa informed as to what you find out.
Congrats, Bob, that is a great honor! Some of the pictures are really beautiful and some I look at and think Bob's are nicer than that one. I know everyone has their own opinion and Mits is right, we are just a little biased.

I just looked back at BWE and it does look as though they both have changed their positions....

It is so funny to watch them crawl out of the egg cup, they kind of remind me of a penguin when they climb out.
CLC on the ME Forum has posted this video of our guys

ROFLMBO!! Get Pecking Pearl
TeenyWeeny is King of the Nest!
I see some explorer chicks! Look at baby, up there on the edge!
Eagle back
Man Pecking Pearl is really traveling
Adult in the nest & Pecking Pearl hurrying back to the Egg Cup!!!
Still working on that old ground hog
Dragging something out to eat...
Can really see the white patch at the top of the wing on the right
Now moved to the back of the nest
If I'm not mistaken - throughout the day these eaglets seem to get fed on the hr every hr!
I'm not counting bites but TeenyWeeny is getting alot - along with MidSize.
I think that Pecking Pearl is lying there all alone... don't know why?
This will be interesting to watch.
Do you think that Pecking Pearl doesn't want anymore ground hog lunches? She is like sleeping ??
probably doesn't like 3 day old leftovers
Looks like Pecking Pearl isn't going to get any this time! lol Those two youngsters were waiting at the right spot for the food delivery.
Full from last time, perhaps?
Doesn't look like a hatching at SC/PH. Just saw them off the eggs and then get back on.
looks like falcon in PA might be trying to lay 3rd egg
You think Belle wants them all down in the egg cup?
Eagle is asking, OK, so how do I gather these chicks up and get them under me?
BOB CONGRATULATIONS ON GETTING TWO OF YOUR PICS IN THE REFUGE IMAGE LIBRARY. They are both just as beautiful as all of your pics AND what was that first prize winner? Eagle walked around the nest, now feeding off the back
Eagle at BWO!
nope no #3 falcon egg yet
PP is looking interested but only getting leftovers!
LISA'S UPDATE ON OSPREY PAGE
Nest Update
03/26/08:
We're still confused by the lack of time that our ospreys seem to be spending at the nest. This is the first year we've gone this late with so little activity.
If our original pair does not want the nest, we would think a new osprey pair would make a move for the platform.
Teeney Bit has had a LOT to eat!
Mom is fair!
These 3 little ones have all been fed a lot during the last hour.
OK BBILW
Yes You're Right
Panda Nap Time........
Yes! And Teeney Bit was in a good place for this feeding!
This has been a very nice and enjoyable feeding. Every chick was polite; even PP when she woke up. It looks like little bit is full right up to the top and ready for a nap. ;)
Two parents in our nest
Looks like Belle just dropped in!
Yes, a good feeding! And WHAT hsd been brought in now?!!!
Looks like more foooooood.
Ahhhh! A very well stocked pantry!
Over she goes to make sure her chicks aren't blown away. :) And Little Bit wouldn't blow anywhere as he is out flat and full. :):)
And, what ever it is it is still moving!!!!
Fedding is over, nap time. All is well! BBL
Parent at PH up and looking in egg cup. Just staring. Take a look. I can't tell
Was just watching that Candy....maybe Paula knows
MITS, I saw one white oval. Isn't there supposed to be two. She got right off the egg cup, walked around and took her own sweet time, looking around and to the sky. Then she came back over and carefully layed back down.
yes supposed to be 2 I think, maybe other egg is lower.
I really don't follow the CA nests that much, Candy, but someone had mentioned a possible hatching of egg today
Ok MITS TU Mother is quiet now on nest. Looked in on BWE and one baby has crawled up to the top edge of nest.
I saw thmat Candy, really moved away fro other eaglet
Yes, there are 2 eggs at PH - can't always see both at the same time....I think today would be the earliest possible hatch date...today is day 31
Last year, if it was the first egg that broke, then the second egg hatched at 35 days...if it was the second egg that broke, then hatch would have been at 39 days for first egg...so, I think there's a few more days to wait there.

Belle is standing to the left of the chicks in the cup...they are snoozing together
Paula, do you remember if the TV down at the visitor center has live streaming video?
both our nest
well there were 2 in there
Thank you ladies for making such good comments. When I came back after my panda nap. I read and felt like I was still right here with you all and the 3 eaglets of ours.
Very good commenting ( :
The chicks at BWE seem the one has moved up to were the other chick is now. They are together and a parent (probably Mom) just came in.
Parent at BWE
Look at the eagle go; defurring or defeathering whatever is for dinner tonight.
Can't see with BWE brought into the nest. dang Candy if it is defeathering it maybe a duck that would be great..oh I hope ( :
Candy which nest are you talking about?
DANA The parent in our eagle nest was plucking a bird of some kind and is now feeding the chicks. I don't see any movement from the parent in BWE
Hey Gang! N E W T H R E A D!!!!!
BWE just seems to sit there. Didn't see if anything was brought into the nest there. Sorry I got you confused.
thanks, Paula...thought so...that is what the adult eagle has been doing today, comes in head stays down, chick sorta, crawls over, but I don't see any real exchange of food....was wondering if the people at the visitor center see more going on then we do with the 30 second cam
chicks by themselves..
