When the parents come I don't see any leftovers or anything in the nest from where the chicks have been fed...and you cannot always tell whether they have food or not. Once the Dad even brought a fish that was smaller than the eaglets themselves....what was he thinking??
Oh oh, one chicklet is getting very daring. Maybe the wind will blow him back into the egg cup before the other . Oh oh, looks like the other one is following.
Okay, you were talking about the babies waking up, mine were still asleep!!! Media player frozen up. That is the second time it has happened. Rebooted but can not get on. Anyone else with this problem?
Good morning all! Just peeking in, I'm 3 hours behind in time, but just heard the sound! How awesome!!! I was getting nervous with the parents gone and the kiddies getting too curious for their own good-glad to see Mom/Dad back :D
Have returned from appointments - Someone took the safety gate down I see! All 3 of them up & out of the egg cup! I saw our littlest one make his way out! So proud of TeenyWeeny! I need to read up to see what that is for lunch!
Ok, so I don't think rebooting the computer will help if so many are having the problem. I think Steven said this was a concern with sound, the picture would go out.
Oh my! If you don't have sound right now you are really missing it! Other adult eagle may be above the nest & they were calling to each other. Concern Now that they are out of the egg cup, the feeding was with our parent eagle's tail end towards us! This will probably continue & I guess we're not going to be able to count how many bites TeenyWeeny gets!
Blogger cop got me! I'll try again! My picture started freezing up. When I restarted I had sound but no picture. Rebooting the computer did not help. I would much rathcr have picture and no sound, that sound and not picture!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!
Can someone please help. My real player froze so I had to restart my computer and now I have sound and no picture. Tried restart about 3 time and nothing. I would rather have picture and no sound. If anyone can advise I would appreciate the help. Debbie
Well, I will tell you that the adult went to the far side of nest cup and ate some leftovers, and is perched there now. Oldest eaglet followed , and is now back by nest cup. The other two are still out in the nest.
I remember Lisa told us that there are many eagles at BW and that many of them use the BWO platform, Paula. It could be any eagle there, now the parents from BWE.
Well whichever parent we saw on the BWE nest sure didn't stay long. I hope the lil' fellas were able to at least get warm...and maybe some food. A big ole fish....or some good ole duck would be nice!
Alright! One eaglet has made it back into the egg cup. Adult eagle (Lib I think) is up on his perch at 12 noon. The other 2 eaglets blend in perfectly with th nest decor. I think they are both up around the dinner table. Can anyone else give those without pics some visuals
My MEdia Player Classic which I installed when my Real Player wouldn't work is still going ok. I know it could go down at any time.. BUT I think maybe Steve should use this alternative player version.
Wind sound is still there - Sounds like we're on the islands!
Every once or so a little wing flys up and you know where they are. They raise their little heads and their big eyes give them away. Only one still in the egg cup & other 2 still out in the middle of the nest. Lib still up on perch.
Eaglet #2 in egg well trying to come back out towards Mom. Eaglet #1 & #3 are sitting there watching mom checking out the food source. Now they are all 3 in a line waiting They are trying to crawl closer.
Hey, look at that! Belle's feeding them some old carp or something from the camera end of the nest, and all three chicks are out of the cup and getting fed at this end of the nest.
I have sound, but no picture also. It happened when it happened to others too. I had tried to rewind (to see the littlest one skoot out of the cup) and the picture froze and then was gone. Boo hoo ;-(
Belle is pulling sooooooooo hard to get the good stuff off of whatever it is for lunch - she looked as though she was going to do a back flip off the side of the nest!
There goes parent, just when I thought that all 3 chicklets were going back to egg cup for a snooze. They must be well fed now and tired. Panda nap time as JO says.
I think the last head hit the pillow.Oh no, now one is up bobbing and now two. Maybe they'll snooze yet. Oh oh, a little rough play going on there. Now be nice to eachother you two.
Jim, I hate to disagree with you, but I have only rarely seen an eagle there at the osprey nest with a brood patch, I have seen Lonsesome Louie alot
info from BWE site
Another special feature of the Refuge is the resident bald eagle population. Blackwater hosts over 150 bald eagles during the winter and spotting one from the Wildlife Drive is the highlight of many a visit to the Refuge. In December, bald eagles begin nesting in tall loblolly pine trees. Eggs are laid around mid or late February, and the eagle pair will return to their large nests every breeding season until the nests are blown down or disturbed. At this time, Blackwater Refuge hosts one of the largest breeding populations of bald eagles in the country.
Our guys have been awake and active quite a bit this afternoon. Compare that to the guys at BW. Seems like they are always sleeping when not being fed. I may be wrong about that because I don't watch them as much. I hope they are OK.
there is a ton of food at BW, Althenaa, its just that this male has not learned how to hunt for his family. It is a wonderful place and that is why so many eagles roost there. The place is full of wildlife.
Athenaa - she has to do the food gathering for her and the chicks....it could also be the chicks are getting older and better able to regulate their own temp...she could be in the tree out of sight...
it is the male that is immature, Althenaa, the mom is a pro, but she has do go out and get the food for the eaglets, and she may just be on a branch close by also, hoping he brinks some food in, she doesn't really have to go far to get food, but is probably reluctant to leave them.
That's the same male as was there with and without the female all winter.
I wonder what happened, which one was replaced, between last season and last... And why??
Last year's family at BW worked like a champ.
Also, why is the female not bringing in the food either? She hasn't had troubles getting the male to tend the youngsters all season.
I think something is interfering with their normal fishing and hunting. No way we can tell what it is with just the nestcam ... unless Sherlock were able to deduce .......
Jim - the female HAS been bringing in food, when she realizes the male ain't showing up...she can't be off hunting all the time..someone still has to protect the chicks..
PALA Did you ever see the third chick that made it to the chow line get fed? I didn't. He just wandered back with the parent to the egg cup. Maybe he was fed alot in the last feeding.
JO finally saw your MaMa Cali with her three chicks. Boy they are really pretty big already; about 2/3rds as tall as the parent. How is that other owl doing with all her brood?
Ya know...LOL ya'll really give me a great laff movin and mitts!! But ya know I kinda think the idea that something is disturbing their hunting habits is really more believable. I feel it would really be against the nature of the female and even an immature male to let the offspring starve in the nest. There HAS to be something causing it.
I think I have just gotten attached to my BWE babies. Ya know you kinda want to just pick them up and take them home and open a can of tuna for them!! LOL!
Back from the dentist. Hooray, that is over for another 6 months. Yes, I made it and even showered fast. It is just down the road from my house; just before my school. Very convenient, but still didn't want to be late getting there.
See Mom is getting up off our chicks and we still have live cam and sound. Good deal

Egg turning at Norfolk a minute ago. Oh, how I love it!!!! Take care of that precious egg!!!
Hi and Welcome Athenaa ( :
Ok you 2 bigger ones quit squabbling... one trying to crawl out of nest.
Parent is back at BWE. Maybe more food?
OH No this isn't going to work out well...seagull on the CT Osprey nest on my goodness
"Nap's over...now where's our Mom or Dad?"
One of our babies is awake and skooting out of the cup!!!
HE/SHE/has made it out, and here comes the other one
Lola just came back and seagull flew away. She isn't going to let m=him (Oscar) have her nest.
Second oldeat is moving around too!
GGet back in, you silly baby! It's DANGEROUS!
Whoa! I think the wind is picking up!
I meant "oldest" not "oldeat" !!
ha, ha ,now that he's out he doesn't know what to do:) Howdy all:)
Oh oh, one chicklet is getting very daring. Maybe the wind will blow him back into the egg cup before the other . Oh oh, looks like the other one is following.
Stretching those necks and checking out the rest of the nest!
Thank you for the wvgal!! Ya'll really have a nice place here....
Maybe they just want to "catch some rays!"
There goes the second one
Okay, Liberty/Belle, the babies are out of the cup!! Come home soon!
Oh boy, two out of the nest cup now...
I wonder if Belle or Lib is watching?
LOl, hey we can peck at each other out here, too!
OH! WOW!---I think #1 EAGLET has gotten up out of the "bowl"!!---That "lil'love-bug" is movin' on!!
WOW---there goes #2!!----
THEY ARE CERTAINLY ADVANCED FOR THEIR AGE!!!
Aha, parent is back!!!
THUD!!!!!
The egg cup is probably getting a little too cramped for all three to stay in there comfortably. Here is parent back, just in time. Both back now.
Okay, you were talking about the babies waking up, mine were still asleep!!! Media player frozen up. That is the second time it has happened. Rebooted but can not get on. Anyone else with this problem?
Both adults!!
One parent in and now the other flew in and one chick out of nest. Food brought in...wonder what it is?
bbl
Hope parent briough in some chow for the little ones. It looks like BWE is now taking care of her young finally.
Oh, htat one chick is almost over to the parent. The little cutie.
That oldest eaglet has spunk doesn't it??
Lib and Belle are back and Lib is eating that "thing". Of she flew!
Oh boy, now all three are trying to get fed, Tiny is trying to figure out how to get out of that cup
I am still getting live sound feed lolly.
The second lil' guy at BWE just doesn't really look like he's got the strength to go after whatever the parent brought to eat....
Good morning all! Just peeking in, I'm 3 hours behind in time, but just heard the sound! How awesome!!! I was getting nervous with the parents gone and the kiddies getting too curious for their own good-glad to see Mom/Dad back :D
All three chicks now out of egg cup.:) Parents will have their hands full now.
It's kind of like when toddlers begin to walk.....into everything...
Where can I find the cam for BWE? I still haven't found all of the links that sometimes are a topic of conversation.
I have sound but no picture. I had the same thing happen, Lolly. I am trying to figure out what went wrong.
Gotta give that little guy credit, he made it out of cup and right up beside the others. He is tough.
Have returned from appointments -
Someone took the safety gate down I see! All 3 of them up & out of the egg cup! I saw our littlest one make his way out! So proud of TeenyWeeny!
I need to read up to see what that is for lunch!
It's www.friendsofblackwater.org ....
I have had to re-boot the live feed twice this a.m.
Deb, do you have Media Player? I still have sound but no picture. Sorry, you have this problem too, but glad to know it is not my computer.
Wow that is Soooooooo big it is hard to move Still reading back to see what you think it is....
My Media Player Classic is doing great... have it up with sound & I had left it up while I was gone.
I don't have any thing now-- no pic of nest or sound!!!----JUST WHEN THOSE "BANDITS" ARE SHOWING HOW COOL THEY ARE!!!
Thanks Jo! Gotta figure out what is going on. Still can not get a picture!
I had to reboot my RP and now I only have sound....was trying to rewind it....didn't like that a bit...
No, I have Real Player, have tried everything but rebooting the computer, which is what I am going to try now.
I lost my MEDIA PLAYER TOO!!
Good grief, my computer is barely running, real player is the only thing actually working correctly..shouldn't say that..knocking on wood...
Ok, so I don't think rebooting the computer will help if so many are having the problem. I think Steven said this was a concern with sound, the picture would go out.
don't know why mine is still working, not going to touch it...
Eagle calling out
My Real Player is on with sound, there is no movement. The clock continues to click but no movement.
OH WOW!!!! the big eagles are talking.
Was that what that was?? The big eagles talking?? How totally kewl...
ENJOYED THE SOUND OF THE ADULTS!!
but no real players or movement!!
I need to get my pbj lunch!
I'm not telling all of you with problems that I love my live feed with sound
think the one that was talking is in the branch above...eagle keeps looking up when it talks
I sent Steve an email...
Mine's working too, touch wood!
That reminds me of the conversation we once had with my dmom, who claimed she was NOT superstitious as he knocked on wood!
I would love to see our eaglets..
They are all being hidden by the parent.
Blogger cop got me! I'll try again! My picture started freezing up. When I restarted I had sound but no picture. Rebooting the computer did not help. I would much rathcr have picture and no sound, that sound and not picture!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!
They know how to get them back in that egg cup!
Oh, just got my first view of the babies out of the cup. Thanks to the 3 minute shot!
BWEaglets alone... Adult eagle on Osprey Platform... May be the mom or dad - I can't tell.
Mama Cali & her 3 Hooties are visible
Link to Mama Cali
Most of the WildWatch cams are frozen
Scarface is still at Pook's Place
http://moosewatch.com/
Well, this is no fun1 Going away to pout!
Can someone please help. My real player froze so I had to restart my computer and now I have sound and no picture. Tried restart about 3 time and nothing. I would rather have picture and no sound. If anyone can advise I would appreciate the help. Debbie
DEBBIE---EVERYONE HAS THE SAME THING!!---I FEEL YOUR PAIN!
Have the BW chicks been fed recently? Don't know what's going on there, but Dad's back on BWO, and I haven't seen Mom myself this morning.
Do you suppose neither one of them can find fish right now?
[:~)]
Jim
Most of us are having the same problem. We are waiting for Steven to fix it.
Camsgrammy - most of us are in the same boat as you....sound, but no picture...
Why does everyone always think that is the BW eagle Dad on the BWO nest???
Well, I will tell you that the adult went to the far side of nest cup and ate some leftovers, and is perched there now. Oldest eaglet followed , and is now back by nest cup. The other two are still out in the nest.
OK Thanks !
Paula - I guess because of being perched there and being fishless! lol
Jim - There was an adult there a little while ago.
Well, as of this second, I have picture and sound!
Alright! One eaglet has made it back into the egg cup. Adult eagle (Lib I think) is up on his perch at 12 noon.
The other 2 eaglets blend in perfectly with th nest decor. I think they are both up around the dinner table.
Can anyone else give those without pics some visuals
Thanks for the website link. I wanted to cheer the Eaglets on, but right now the Blackwater cam just seems to heartbreaking to watch :(
It looks like they are really soaking up that sun!
My MEdia Player Classic which I installed when my Real Player wouldn't work is still going ok. I know it could go down at any time..
BUT I think maybe Steve should use this alternative player version.
Wind sound is still there - Sounds like we're on the islands!
Now the "picture problem" has gotten to me too! Sound but no picture......BWAAAAAAAH!
Every once or so a little wing flys up and you know where they are. They raise their little heads and their big eyes give them away. Only one still in the egg cup & other 2 still out in the middle of the nest. Lib still up on perch.
I feel exactly the same way you do N8turewatcher.......
The alternative player is not made for use on a Mac computer, I hope he doesn't use it!
Parent is talking..
Well, Paula, after seeing so much of the BWE pair on the Osprey nest over the winter, I can recognize them both fairly readily.
It's when they get back on their own nest, and we can only see the top side that I have problems identifying them.
[:~)]
Jim
OOps Here comes Mom
Now you guys better get back in that
egg cup
Off goes Dad..... They are all yours
Both adults at nest again.
Parent just flew into our nest.
I am listening to the sounds on the real player and watching on the 30 second still cam and refreshing.
Adult that was in nest flew, parent is now perched in front of cam.
Eaglet #2 in egg well trying to come back out towards Mom. Eaglet #1 & #3 are sitting there watching mom checking out the food source.
Now they are all 3 in a line waiting
They are trying to crawl closer.
Gonna feed the chicks again, and here goes big guy trying to get back out of nest cup without any siblings to use to climb up on.
Steve said they will try a reset on the live video to fix the picture problem
You should start to hear the eaglets who are being fed (with Mom's tailend in our face)
#1 eaglet can sit up fairly well
Who else has a picture?
Gotta go back to work:( hooray-tiny is getting fed first!!
Hey, look at that!
Belle's feeding them some old carp or something from the camera end of the nest, and all three chicks are out of the cup and getting fed at this end of the nest.
[:~)]
Jim
I can see 2, no make that 3 out of the cup on the 30 second pic
Candy - I think we sometimes forget that we do have the 30 sec (?) refresh cam.
Deb - had the Media Player Classic worked on your MAC?
Quiet little bunch right now...
All intently watching Mom pulled the food off of whatever it is...
For the teacher that was looking for an update, it has been updated on the website
I have sound, but no picture also. It happened when it happened to others too. I had tried to rewind (to see the littlest one skoot out of the cup) and the picture froze and then was gone. Boo hoo ;-(
No, Jo, it is only designed to work with Windows.
I think that is leftover ground hog...they pulled 2 things out from around the bowl last night and dragged them to this end of the nest....
Mom is blocking the view of the feeding. :( That is not fair......
Belle is pulling sooooooooo hard to get the good stuff off of whatever it is for lunch - she looked as though she was going to do a back flip off the side of the nest!
I just lost sound, did everyone else?
There goes the sound. What else? :(
well, my sound and pic just went down
Reset worked for me!!
Thanks, Steve!
Yea!!! I have a picture and sound!! Thank You, Steven!
Lost everything but got it right back up.
OK Steve must be working on it
Just had my pic freeze and now a black
screen..........Sound has also gone.
They must have reset it, because mine stopped. But it restarted readily. Try it.
[:~)]
Jim
I have live sound and pic now too. Thanks Steven.
Yeah! Mine is working too - picture and sound. Thanks, Steve. (I hope that never happens on a weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Everything is A-ok here!
Where did Mom go?
There goes parent, just when I thought that all 3 chicklets were going back to egg cup for a snooze. They must be well fed now and tired. Panda nap time as JO says.
Blogger Cop just came on duty I think
YES! we're back in business! So HAPPY about that!
Maybe Mom went off to get some fresh meat. it looks as if they will all stay in the egg cup and wait for her to return. Let's hope anyway.
THANKS STEVEN!!!! Hitting the reset did it! Came back and have video and sound! Whoopeee!!!
I've got that Security Information message every time I post on the blog.....I can't remember how I got rid of it the last time! HELP!
I think the last head hit the pillow.Oh no, now one is up bobbing and now two. Maybe they'll snooze yet. Oh oh, a little rough play going on there. Now be nice to eachother you two.
Now Baby Littley is getting pinged.
Paula and Sharon know how to get rid of it, Geula
They had better huddle together to get warm from that wind. Well one chick is sacked out anyhow.
Oh, oh, one of the bigger ones was just pecking the H out of the little one... They're all back in the cup.
[:~)]
Jim
Geula, go to tools, internet options, security, miscellaneous, display mixed content and hit enable.
Well, Jim that was definitely a good way to put it!
Jim, I hate to disagree with you, but I have only rarely seen an eagle there at the osprey nest with a brood patch, I have seen Lonsesome Louie alot

Something perked them all three up!
Well mits that kinda makes me wonder if there is enough food to go around for all of the eagles. Do ya think that could be the problem with BWE??
Out on the loose again!
Stay Down
Here is Mom!
Parent back and here they all come.
Our guys have been awake and active quite a bit this afternoon. Compare that to the guys at BW. Seems like they are always sleeping when not being fed. I may be wrong about that because I don't watch them as much. I hope they are OK.
I see how you can work up an appetite getting up out of the egg cup!
Hey There - you're going the wrong way.
Oops one still in egg cup. better get those wings working and get over for the grub.
Yahoo I saw that Poop Shoot
there is a ton of food at BW, Althenaa, its just that this male has not learned how to hunt for his family. It is a wonderful place and that is why so many eagles roost there. The place is full of wildlife.
Parent back
Hey MOM, don't forget the little one in the cup.
Come on, hoist yourself out of there. Hurry up before it is all gone baby chick.
BBILW
So why is the mother gone for such long periods of time mits? Is it that she is have to work very hard just to keep herself going or what?
Rewind works good now!
Or maybe SHE is immature also mits??
Athenaa - she has to do the food gathering for her and the chicks....it could also be the chicks are getting older and better able to regulate their own temp...she could be in the tree out of sight...
it is the male that is immature, Althenaa, the mom is a pro, but she has do go out and get the food for the eaglets, and she may just be on a branch close by also, hoping he brinks some food in, she doesn't really have to go far to get food, but is probably reluctant to leave them.
I think Baby Littley is up there in front of Belle.
My heart goes out to her....there is something to be said for an older mate eh??
They really don't know what hppened to her previous mae of the last couple of years:(
can you imagine what it is going to sound like during a storm at the nest, the wind isn't really that strong today.
Mits - we have had wind gusts of about 10-15mph here today
Last chick finally made it to the chow line...
yeah, I know, but, it must sound like more, because the mic is so sensitive.
No, I don't agree, Mits.
[:~)]
Jim
I am so grateful this year is so much better than last year. Don't think I could do another one like2007!!!
A storm like Spunky rode out would bust our ears!
Belle is working on the cup while it is empty!
then where is his brood patch, Jim
Jim - the female HAS been bringing in food, when she realizes the male ain't showing up...she can't be off hunting all the time..someone still has to protect the chicks..
Jim - did you read Lisa latest weblog?
The female has been working her butt off.
PALA Did you ever see the third chick that made it to the chow line get fed? I didn't. He just wandered back with the parent to the egg cup. Maybe he was fed alot in the last feeding.
You know these are eagles operating on pure instinct with the rules of nature in charge.
It's not an oppressed housewife and a drunken wastrel carousing around, etc., etc.
[:~)]
Jim
The other two are out getting a sun tan!:)
Maybe MOTHER NATURE left out the fathering instinct of the male bird. Only making fun. Can't get too serious here now.
Yes, Jim - we are watching uncensored nature.
Let us just hope that everything works out for the best at the BWE nest. They are both such cute fuzz balls.
Candy - that's what I saw....
Really funny to see them all passed out all over the nest....
I haven't seen an eagle at Kent now since the 22nd, has anyone else seen them?
JO finally saw your MaMa Cali with her three chicks. Boy they are really pretty big already; about 2/3rds as tall as the parent. How is that other owl doing with all her brood?
Looks like Belle is trying to get them back to the bowl now
Oh rats, I lost track of time. I have to get a shower yet and be at the dentist at 3pm. All keep blogging so I cna read up on what I missed. BB
Is she feeding piglet more? Poor chick is gonna pop!
Better take a sailor's shower Candy - you got 30 minutes!!
hope the dentist is not to far from you Candy:)
Nope just a bite or two...must have fallen back asleep - hard to tell with Belle blocking the view! But I don't hear any peeping either!
Athenaa - the parents come first, chicks second. They can't take care of the chicks if they don't take care of themselves first.
Althenaa, if you read the update from yesterday at the BWE site, it is pretty straight forward what is going on.
Did you all see that the Maine eagles fell out of the tree while mating yesterday?
I think I have just gotten attached to my BWE babies. Ya know you kinda want to just pick them up and take them home and open a can of tuna for them!! LOL!
my God, what did she dig up at the back of the nest?
They fell OUT of the tree deb?? That would be an interesting video to watch fer sure!! HAH!
Maybe they were "falling" for each other! :)
Hello again:) Steve has provided us a new thread !!
Mits, she must have had something hid in the pantry!
There is a video at the Maine site, I will go find it and put up a link.
Sharon, you always come up with a good one!!
Back from the dentist. Hooray, that is over for another 6 months. Yes, I made it and even showered fast. It is just down the road from my house; just before my school. Very convenient, but still didn't want to be late getting there.
See Mom is getting up off our chicks and we still have live cam and sound. Good deal
