Once the Dad even brought a fish that was smaller than the eaglets themselves....what was he thinking??

Okay, you were talking about the babies waking up, mine were still asleep!!! Media player frozen up. That is the second time it has happened. Rebooted but can not get on. Anyone else with this problem?

Good morning all! Just peeking in, I'm 3 hours behind in time, but just heard the sound! How awesome!!! I was getting nervous with the parents gone and the kiddies getting too curious for their own good-glad to see Mom/Dad back :D
All three chicks now out of egg cup.:) Parents will have their hands full now.

Someone took the safety gate down I see! All 3 of them up & out of the egg cup! I saw our littlest one make his way out! So proud of TeenyWeeny!

I had to reboot my RP and now I only have sound....was trying to rewind it....didn't like that a bit...
No, I have Real Player, have tried everything but rebooting the computer, which is what I am going to try now.

Ok, so I don't think rebooting the computer will help if so many are having the problem. I think Steven said this was a concern with sound, the picture would go out.

Eagle calling out
My Real Player is on with sound, there is no movement. The clock continues to click but no movement.

Other adult eagle may be above the nest & they were calling to each other.
Concern Now that they are out of the egg cup, the feeding was with our parent eagle's tail end towards us! This will probably continue & I guess we're not going to be able to count how many bites TeenyWeeny gets!

Blogger cop got me! I'll try again! My picture started freezing up. When I restarted I had sound but no picture. Rebooting the computer did not help. I would much rathcr have picture and no sound, that sound and not picture!!!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!!

Can someone please help. My real player froze so I had to restart my computer and now I have sound and no picture. Tried restart about 3 time and nothing. I would rather have picture and no sound. If anyone can advise I would appreciate the help. Debbie

Have the BW chicks been fed recently? Don't know what's going on there, but Dad's back on BWO, and I haven't seen Mom myself this morning.

Why does everyone always think that is the BW eagle Dad on the BWO nest???
Well, I will tell you that the adult went to the far side of nest cup and ate some leftovers, and is perched there now. Oldest eaglet followed , and is now back by nest cup. The other two are still out in the nest.

Jim - There was an adult there a little while ago.
I remember Lisa told us that there are many eagles at BW and that many of them use the BWO platform, Paula. It could be any eagle there, now the parents from BWE.
Well whichever parent we saw on the BWE nest sure didn't stay long. I hope the lil' fellas were able to at least get warm...and maybe some food. A big ole fish....or some good ole duck would be nice!
Well, as of this second, I have picture and sound!
Alright! One eaglet has made it back into the egg cup. Adult eagle (Lib I think) is up on his perch at 12 noon.
The other 2 eaglets blend in perfectly with th nest decor. I think they are both up around the dinner table.
Can anyone else give those without pics some visuals

My MEdia Player Classic which I installed when my Real Player wouldn't work is still going ok. I know it could go down at any time..
BUT I think maybe Steve should use this alternative player version.

Every once or so a little wing flys up and you know where they are. They raise their little heads and their big eyes give them away. Only one still in the egg cup & other 2 still out in the middle of the nest. Lib still up on perch.
I feel exactly the same way you do N8turewatcher.......
The alternative player is not made for use on a Mac computer, I hope he doesn't use it!

Well, Paula, after seeing so much of the BWE pair on the Osprey nest over the winter, I can recognize them both fairly readily.
It's when they get back on their own nest, and we can only see the top side that I have problems identifying them.

I am listening to the sounds on the real player and watching on the 30 second still cam and refreshing.
Adult that was in nest flew, parent is now perched in front of cam.
Eaglet #2 in egg well trying to come back out towards Mom. Eaglet #1 & #3 are sitting there watching mom checking out the food source.
Now they are all 3 in a line waiting
They are trying to crawl closer.
Gonna feed the chicks again, and here goes big guy trying to get back out of nest cup without any siblings to use to climb up on.
Steve said they will try a reset on the live video to fix the picture problem
You should start to hear the eaglets who are being fed (with Mom's tailend in our face)
#1 eaglet can sit up fairly well

I have sound, but no picture also. It happened when it happened to others too. I had tried to rewind (to see the littlest one skoot out of the cup) and the picture froze and then was gone. Boo hoo ;-(
No, Jo, it is only designed to work with Windows.
I think that is leftover ground hog...they pulled 2 things out from around the bowl last night and dragged them to this end of the nest....
Mom is blocking the view of the feeding. :( That is not fair......
Belle is pulling sooooooooo hard to get the good stuff off of whatever it is for lunch - she looked as though she was going to do a back flip off the side of the nest!

Another special feature of the Refuge is the resident bald eagle population. Blackwater hosts over 150 bald eagles during the winter and spotting one from the Wildlife Drive is the highlight of many a visit to the Refuge. In December, bald eagles begin nesting in tall loblolly pine trees. Eggs are laid around mid or late February, and the eagle pair will return to their large nests every breeding season until the nests are blown down or disturbed. At this time, Blackwater Refuge hosts one of the largest breeding populations of bald eagles in the country.

Our guys have been awake and active quite a bit this afternoon. Compare that to the guys at BW. Seems like they are always sleeping when not being fed. I may be wrong about that because I don't watch them as much. I hope they are OK.

there is a ton of food at BW, Althenaa, its just that this male has not learned how to hunt for his family. It is a wonderful place and that is why so many eagles roost there. The place is full of wildlife.

Athenaa - she has to do the food gathering for her and the chicks....it could also be the chicks are getting older and better able to regulate their own temp...she could be in the tree out of sight...
it is the male that is immature, Althenaa, the mom is a pro, but she has do go out and get the food for the eaglets, and she may just be on a branch close by also, hoping he brinks some food in, she doesn't really have to go far to get food, but is probably reluctant to leave them.
I think Baby Littley is up there in front of Belle.
My heart goes out to her....there is something to be said for an older mate eh??

Last year's family at BW worked like a champ.
Also, why is the female not bringing in the food either?
She hasn't had troubles getting the male to tend the youngsters all season.
I think something is interfering with their normal fishing and hunting. No way we can tell what it is with just the nestcam ... unless Sherlock were able to deduce .......

Jim - the female HAS been bringing in food, when she realizes the male ain't showing up...she can't be off hunting all the time..someone still has to protect the chicks..

You know these are eagles operating on pure instinct with the rules of nature in charge.

Ya know...LOL ya'll really give me a great laff movin and mitts!! But ya know I kinda think the idea that something is disturbing their hunting habits is really more believable. I feel it would really be against the nature of the female and even an immature male to let the offspring starve in the nest. There HAS to be something causing it.
Nope just a bite or two...must have fallen back asleep - hard to tell with Belle blocking the view! But I don't hear any peeping either!
Athenaa - the parents come first, chicks second. They can't take care of the chicks if they don't take care of themselves first.
Althenaa, if you read the update from yesterday at the BWE site, it is pretty straight forward what is going on.
Did you all see that the Maine eagles fell out of the tree while mating yesterday?
I think I have just gotten attached to my BWE babies. Ya know you kinda want to just pick them up and take them home and open a can of tuna for them!! LOL!

Back from the dentist. Hooray, that is over for another 6 months. Yes, I made it and even showered fast. It is just down the road from my house; just before my school. Very convenient, but still didn't want to be late getting there.
