Norma, my kids are too young to watch this! I had Gypsy taken care of after her kittens were weaned, and had the kids taken care of as soon as they were old enough! Don't need more kitties!!!! Mei looks like she's just gonna take a nap. Or looks like she wants to. Tian is sure gonna sleep well tonight!
Morning, Jim, thanks! Was chilly a few hours ago, so hope it warms up some. You need to check out Mei and Tian! They're trying to make a baby. Or several hundred...
Helen, if she's not quite in heat, then this is just practice for Tian?????? Good grief, that poor girl! And he's gonna work himself up to being too tired when she DOES come in heat. But that should be in a day or two, though, right? I read the updates, just don't remember, and now it's time for me to leave. Gonna have to go home and take a nap, watching those two made me tired. All have a great eagle/panda day. Phew, Tian and Mei too! Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
HELEN---DON'T UNDERSTAND!---Do you mean MAI is not in heat?---Why would they allow them to get together if she wasn't ready!!----In my watching----I was thinking he is the one that needs a sex-ed class!!---Thanks!----She seemed to be so nice & more than patient with him!!!---Keep me updated!!
ROCKING CR---I thought the same thing about MEI getting into the water when I first began watching!!---This as been going on for a long time---& she did go into the water early on---he went in too!!--- This has certainly been a learning process!!!
NORMA AND DANA, just sent you the page with the pregnancy 2008 update, it is found on the panda web page. Now they say she is in estrus, my secret contact at zoo must be a tad behind
GOOGLE & LEARN ABOUT PANDA REPRODUCTION----- Just read that the female PANDA only ovulates once a year! They ovulate in the spring---for 2--3 days! They usually have 1 offspring every 2 years----
I am home sick today so to answer your question from yesterday Norma it was probably too soon for me to go to work, think we are all taking turns being sick or well enough to at least go in for a while...not so good right now. Anyway got up to fix some tea and took a peak at the cam . Got to watch a feeding. I think we have Big Brutus, Little Brutus and Baby Believe. I hope the littlest one has got lots of that same spunk in its bllood. If it does it will be OK but those two big ones goodness me. Hope they spend most of their time bothering but not really hurting each other.
I mean the one that occurred around 1 ish....my RP didn't like the rewind on that,,,pictures froze...but did see parent appear at 6 on the nest, then the bowl was empty, then new parent on the chicks
Oh it has started to rain here---I hope it by passes our NEST!!---Don't want those 'little dears' to get wet----yet!---They can sometime later--a month or two--ho!---
Hi, eagle and eaglet lovers! Aren't our bobbleheads just the sweetest little things - even when they are pecking at each other? I noticed that one (probably the oldest) doesn't bobble nearly as much now. It holds that little head straight up, looking for food. I looked at the new picture gallery at BW. I saw both adults in the nest and more food in the nest than I have seen whenever I look at the webcam. That made me feel better for those BW babes. This morning, driving to work - I saw a "raft" of wild turkeys on a hillside (must've been 25 or 30 of them) and a "wake" of buzzards in some trees along the road. Remember when someone (Birdgird, I think) sent us that list of collective nouns for birds a while back? - that's where I got "raft" and "wake". I got such a kick out of watching those NZ pandas. Had half the office in here laughing at them.
OK, when biggie was eating, he pecked the baby. So the baby was laying down, then Belle went to pick up a piece of food, the baby either got moved with the food or moved as she was moving also....I did see baby move OK after that...and then second chick was laying on baby after being pecked again.

and they will AI for added insurance
I'm ready for a panda nap

Mits how do they know "exactly" when she is ready "in heat"??
Starting to rain here (10 minutes flying time from nest to here)
Looks more like the Tesoro cam is having problems...I don't see them searching for an eaglet...
they check her hormone levels. it is ok for them to mate even though she is not in heat.....my real player went off for eagles
ROCKING CR---I thought the same thing about MEI getting into the water when I first began watching!!---This as been going on for a long time---& she did go into the water early on---he went in too!!--- This has certainly been a learning process!!!
Mine went off also Mits for some reason. I just clicked it back on the link. It opened right up...

mine went back on too.
Looks like our nest has been fairly quiet today?
It's chilly and breezy outside today....and cloudy, mostly.

Well, isn't that the cutest little bowl of eaglets you have ever seen?
Both chicks are peeking out from under Dad at the world in the BWE nest.

Jim
Thanks for the heads up on the feeding...yes the eldest surely likes to pick on the middle one.
Interesting...the eldest didn't peck nearly so hard on the baby as he did the middle chick...more like a touch than a peck.
Tesoro cam is straightened back out...on the nest now
Did you all just see that switch?
BWE eating again...
I mean the one that occurred around 1 ish....my RP didn't like the rewind on that,,,pictures froze...but did see parent appear at 6 on the nest, then the bowl was empty, then new parent on the chicks
LOL, I think they start fighting everytime one of the eagles gets off of them!
Eagle at BWO
Eagle off our chicks again
Looked like feeding time, but I guess not...
hee hee not all the way down on them and they are popping out the sides lol
Oh it has started to rain here---I hope it by passes our NEST!!---Don't want those 'little dears' to get wet----yet!---They can sometime later--a month or two--ho!---
Hmmm, time for Mom to eat - and of course she always shares.
aww fed the littlest hee hee
OK, stuff the biggest first...
That didn't look good. It looked like she picked up a limp eaglet. Did anybody else see that?
No, but I'll go back and look, I am recording, also.
Oh Lord Sharon do NOT say that
Well, that made my heart fall and start thumping. I guess it is okay though.
I am sorry, I am so hoping I was wrong. My cam froze up on me right after that.

At least that carp isn't staring at us any more...see he lost his head! :)
ok I can actually see and feel the newest gray hairs and wrinkles.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Paula. I was going nuts here!
