I was really grateful he was still open and not closed for good. It is right next door to where he was so it should have close to the same view. Think I will call him tomorrow and ask him when.
Oh my the nest camera is those shades of greens n blues n reds again.. wonder if thats because of rain over there?? Hmmm and what we have to look forward to in bad weather? NOT a happy camper hmmmm
Oh Jo one of my fond memories of my sister and i who died was we would go into card stores and read those goofy cards and laugh together... I sure do miss her hard to think next month is 2 years she has been gone...
Nilla, my sister Donna and I would call each other and read those really long and flowery obituaries to each other. I know, it was sick but it could be so funny!
I was just about to go out to car & the heavens broke lose!!!! Biggest drops of RAIN I have seen in a long time. Think I'll wait for a little - I can hear the thunder coming...... LOVE THE SOUND OF RAIN HITTING!
That was on windy storm, got it on video, pretty wild.
Tonight is CSI season premiere so I will be at my sis in laws with tori so we can watch it together till 10, wednesday and thursday is our tv time together, hope I don't miss much here...
Yeah, Grey's Anatomy, is on the same time as CSI....will have to go back and forth watching them...then ER.....Thank, goodness the TV shows are back...yea!!!
Ooooo Sharon those pictures are fantastic!!!! They look so happy in the nest together... I missed them since it was raining here i thought they would not show up so walked down to Dollar store... and wouldnt you know it they did... But your pictures tell a story that love is in the air in the eagle nest!!!
Wanda-that is dumb. What about all those other signs on 45? And the guy that owns the sub shop, his signs have been up for 20 years. LOL. And there have to be 2 dozen real estate signs down thru there, don't they count?
Hey Mits no chance of mine filling up i have OCD when it comes to my mail and clean it out all the time... Dont forget tonight at 8 pm the final cruise with Iris over on Glo's "FOR THE LOVE OF EAGLES BLOG" CHAT ROOM .. Please come and enjoy touring the places Iris has and fun times with each who attend... To get there in case you dont know click on Glo's name and her page comes up click the For The Love Of Eagles Blog and apage opens up top in the left hand corner you will see chat room... make a screen name and come on in.... Please make sure your pop ups are turned off for the adventure... Thanks
Wanda-we could always have Joey and Zach come down and hold the signs and spin them like the real estate people do. Could send Gene out to supervise. LOL
Just had another crack of thunder, brace yourselves. Hope Robyn is at her Sister in laws by now. Jo you better make a break for it, if you haven't already.
Did we have storms this bad this summer, cause I sure don't remember them
I dont know but daughter just called and told me to turn off comps tonight here at the store.. We have back up but apparently that was not enought to keep them on all last night in those storms... My parking lot at home looked like a pond last night...
JILL--Because we are not open to the public all the time, We don't want a sign up all the time. People would get mad because we weren't open and tear the sign down. You know the public. Also, it is more money than I want to spend for a permanent sign. A temp. sign is free, but you can have it up for only 20 days.
NILLA--I like the idea of having Gene standing along the road with a Gorilla suit (or clown).
Storm finally hit here before dinnertime, got my dinner made before the storm. Lights only blinked once, lots of wind, not as much rain, but enought to get everything pretty wet!
Watching Grey's and ER later.
Wow, we had another visit. Cool. I really can't believe how much they have been at the nest. Must have seen some irresistable sticks!
Took the thunder that long to get over the mountain but here comes today's morning rain that we should have gotten much earlier in the day. I'll take it anytime! Smells good & fresh outside! Now if I could just get the one cat in before he drowns. I am sure he is hiding under the deck and not getting wet!
What browser do you use, Mits? Seems the Frodo popup has been crashing my IE, and I am on XP! I don't have the problem with IE at work, and I am on Windows 2000 there.
I guess Liberty and Belle didn't come back again. Six appearances were really good today.
We have had rain here today but no storms. My dogs really trip out when it storms or when they hear a loud bang of any kind. Obviously, none of them would make good hunting dogs - good thing cause I don't hunt! :)
I have to say that it is so good to be back on the blog and to get to see Liberty and Belle on the cam again! After seeing them live and in person (or should I say eagle), it makes it so different and so special (if it can get any more special). Love you all!
Good night to all and sweet eagle dreams... Jo or Paula do you think that thing i had the picture of dead with those big feet could have been the 3rd baby? Just a thought... Niters
Got a message from Sandra as you all will thru Eaglet Momsters' email: ...Jo, for the blog. From the October issue of The Observer: NCTC First Decade, by Steve Chase. “ A new camera was installed in the nest tree of the popular NCTC Eagle Cam. The new camera was made possible through a partnership between the NCTC, and a group of people from the community and the nation known as Eagle Momsters.”
Jill it started to pour as soon as Tori said, mom it is just a light rain but it eased up when I got to my sis in laws. Seems she is going to see my brother end of Oct overseas so I will be minding the 3 boys here, banging head against wall!lol
Great show tonight CSI and loved reading Sandra's email.
Mits wish I knew it was sunfest this weekend now I have hard decision to make as my friend has a place set up for this weekend not in much of a mood to think tonight.
Well Wanda just send Gene out there in a variety of costumes when you are open. That satisfies all the suggestions. LOL. And just who is in charge of counting how many days signs are up? Do we have a special deputy for that? LOL
WHOA Just had a scary thought. I am going to be driving to Shep. 6:30 am Monday, 1/2 asleep and see a large eagle/gorilla/clown at Gosling Marsh Road. YIKES> LOL
Not sure Jo, I asked my friend if sunfest was this weekend she said yes, the Cork Bar has their annual party during sunfest and they are having it this weekend so ...
I use to put my sign out the whole month of Oct.--for many years. Then one day a woman came to the shop and said she would have to confiscate my sign and I could be fined. I told her I had no idea I was breaking the law. She then told me the rules and we have to call her every Oct 10 and ask if it is ok to put our sign out. Her name is Barbara Abe (sp) and she is from Burlington, WV.
Thanks Wanda. I can just see me 1/2 asleep driving through the fog and seeing a giant eagle by the side of the road then trying to explain it. HE HE> Although it would be fun to mess with people at night. And you know some of the stupid people we have around here would believe the UFOs had landed and dropped off a giant eagle.
Thanks, Wanda, I am really struggling to find replacements for the 3 people I lost, and I am running out of time. Does that lady work for the state of WV?
OKAY I just read the craziest excuse for a crime ever. The guy who went off and killed 5 people in TX then drove to PA and killed an eldlerly woman for her car, says he did it because, are you ready for this? A rattlesnake bit him.
Yes, sorry, Jill, I am still working on answering the slew of emails I had today, been gone all day, and when I got home the storms were too severe here to get on the computer. The sign issue seems ridiculous, it's a seasonal shop and should be allowed to get a permit to have your sign up all month,.. What a stupid law. ANd I'm suprised anyone's enforcing it. Gotta go to bed, it's been a long, hot day. Nite all.
Megan, I have asked everybody I can think of and nobody is available. Call Shepherd and talk to the early education dept, maybe they have a couple of students who could help.
That lady was probably just passing through and saw it. That whole road is covered with signs. What happens if you put it up in one spot, leave it for 10 days then move it? Or if you put it 10 yards off the main road? There has to be a way to do it. Too many signs out there not to.
I too think that is a silly law also. SInce it is a seasonal shop, maybe the woman needs something more important to do then harrass people making a decent living.
I don't get it Robyn. I understand not wanting to litter the highways with signs but has she taken a good look at 45 lately? Wanda's sign would be a welcome change to all the rotten, half missing pieces of junk that are out there.
I was getting zonked this afternoon, so I got in the car took it to the car wash (looks 100% better); then I headed to the laundromat with those extra big machines and washed my car cover, which hadn't been washed since new and would deposit nearly as much dirt when used as you would get without it; then on to the local Pollo Loco for a 2-piece dinner take-out...gooooood chicken.
I know it sounds stupid, but it was enough to break the monotony.
Good morning, world. We made it to Friday, yea!! Light rain in my area, got out of it and onto dry streets before I got to Frederick. Hope we get lots more rain today where I am, won't have to water again tonight. Moon is there, but peeking through the clouds. 67° at my house, 69° here at work. Beautiful pic on our cam, but nest is MT. To be expected at this hour, and can only see a line or two of Spidey's web. Wish he's win the lottery and go live in the Bahamas or something! Only getting the cam logo on the SD cam, so darn, can't see Bai or Squiggles or anyone else. Frieda is on the chicks, and they have an update asking folks to look at their galleries to see if you can figure out what happened to the missing chick. Cool pics on there, but will look later. All have a great eagle/panda Friday day! Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly.
Morning, Jim. I'm gonna have to get you some hot tea that will relax you and let you sleep! Doing great on this end, had a little rain this morning, but I'll try to send some your way. I'm thinking Bai and Squiggles will be on cam when someone comes to work there. That's what happened yesterday, I think. Cam was on totally MT den, but someone came in, and we started seeing them in and out. Hope we see Lib and Belle this morning, too! But doubt we'll have 5 glorious visits like we did yesterday. They have lots of new leaves in the nest, and it may be raining there, don't know. Hope you have a great day, and a wonderful weekend! Also hope you can go back to bed and actually get some sleep! Have any Cammomile tea?
Morning, Mits! Yes it is! Gotta tell ya, I'm very glad, too! See Spidey's one web strand? Hope that guy doesn't try to build the Taj Mahal this year like he did last year!
Morning, Megan. We finally got some rain this morning, it was raining when I left. Nice easy rain. Hope it keeps up all day! They got some very heavy storms east of me, in Lancaster area. Dime sized hail they said on the news last night. As they were saying that, the sun was still shining brightly. Megan, do you know where I can get some MILKWEED? I know that's probably considered a weed, I used to think that when I was little, but I want to plant some so I can try and get some Monarch butterflies hanging out next year.
Phew, back. Doesn't look like I missed anything. Frieda still on babies, she keeps changing positions, but I never see her get up to do it! Still no cam in SD. Think Jim's right, they're sleeping outside now, anyway.
GOOD MORNING SUZ, MITS, JIM AND MEGAN-- Suz, you are talking about Monarch Butterflies, one of my favorite thing to do in the late Summer and Fall. We have many plants of Milkweed here and I gather all the caterpillers that I can find and put them in containers. I refresh their supply of milkweed as needed until they make their cacoon. Then I give the containers to children and let them experience the life cycle of the butterfly.
Morning, Wanda! That's what I'm wanting to do, plant the milkweed, and hope they find it, then maybe I'll get butterflies. If I get one, I'm sure I'll get others. Do yours grow wild, or did you initially get some plants to get started?
Suz, the milkweed grows wild. I was mowing the lawn about 3 years ago and saw a big fat caterpillar on a milkweed plant and remembered from grade school about Monarch butterflies needing milkweed for their food. So I assumed that is what the caterpillar was and put it into a see-through container so I could watch. About 2 days later, it formed it's cacoon or chrysilis and I got to see it doing this. I was so fascinated that I felt like a child again. Not sure of the time, but I think it was 10 days later I got to watch it hatch out and become a beautiful butterfly.
I do that too, Mits. But think it's getting light enough now that we can't see the web.
So ok, we're waiting!
Look at Frieda...looks like she's pushed an egg out on the side of her. I'm sure it's only part of a shell, but sure looks like a whole egg, doesn't it? Hope they can figure out what happened!
Wow, Wanda, that's awesome! I'd love to watch that. So what do you do, just put some leaves and a branch in a see through container, and let nature take it's course? How do you keep refilling the container, just with more leaves and they eat the ones already in there?
I have not seen any caterpillars at all this year. I don't know if it is because of the heat or the drought. I haven't had a lot of time to search for them this Summer. I would be happy to give you some seeds. I will mail them to you or give them to you on the 20th.
We had a big storm come through here last evening with almost hurricane-like winds and lots of rain and then some rain again this morning. I would imagine ther is a lot of work to be done on this nest. It will probably take 10 0r 12 visits to make repairs. lol
SUZ, I am not sure of the culture of milkweed. I would plant some now and save some seed for the Spring. It is a wonderful experience for children and adults alike. I enjoyed giving them to children and then had requests from adults to get some for them also.
Gesh, Wanda, you're getting a lot of rain. Wasn't getting much when I left this morning, and absolutely nothing down here. Talked to a guy said it didn't rain at his house at all last night. Can do without the wind and hail, but sure would be nice if I didn't have to water tonight!
Ok, thanks, Wanda. Please consider this a request then from me, for some seeds. That'd be great! I found a place online, but they're out for the rest of the year. But they did ship in October, so I'll have to look it up, but I'm guessing that's a good time to plant. But I'll also save some seeds for Spring.
Good morning Suzanne, Wanda, Mits, Megan. Raining here this morning.
Onto stink bugs again, well one of those little suckers got me the other day and it is a nasty bite got me in the car. Felt a burning pain and 2 days later saw the results of the bite, it is like a burn on the skin. Looked it up last night kinda got me worried but the web site said they only hurt for a few days and eventually clear up with no ill effects. Got me on the left butt cheek lol, Talk about a pain in the .....
Oh, I love to raise monarch caterpillars, too. I sell a butterfly weed that is not the native, you plant it May/June and the caterpilllars love it. I always have more of them on my plants than the native milkweed that grows in my yard. I always have lots of caterpillars. We have a large cage we bring them inside and watch them, it is the most wondrous thing to see them turn into a chrysalis and them turn into a butterfly.
Oh, Megan, I want some of your plants, then! I want to try and get the Monarch butterflies back in my yard. They used to be there, but last couple of year, haven't seen hardly any. I have a gazillionn of those little white butterflies, but sure would like the Monarch's back!!!
Oh, sorry, Robyn. Good morning! Sorry to hear about your pain in the ...! I hate those stink bugs, but thankfully, haven't seen any at my house this year. Hopefully, it stays that way!!!
Hello Mits, Wanda, Candy and Robyn. SOrry, Robyn, that sounds awful, I didn't even know they could bite. They are everywhere here this year. Yesterday there were almost 35 on one screen door. I will make sure you get some plants from me next year, Suzanne, our yard is full of monarchs.
I've only seen 1 stink bug so far this year. He was on my bathroom screen, so I sprayed him with some air freshener and he dropped like a rock and took off, but at least he will smell nice.

Yeah, eagle suit for the Capt. would be good.
Frieda, seems very quiet tonight or tomorrow.
What browser do you use, Mits? Seems the Frodo popup has been crashing my IE, and I am on XP! I don't have the problem with IE at work, and I am on Windows 2000 there.
Ummmmm, good question, I have Windows XP, Internet Explorer 7
Aha, I am using IE 6
But every now and then my will go down.
I thought it was the high traffic to the site.
she just seems to be staying in one spot, and I haven't seen the chicks yet.
I am back HOME!
Finally got the cat inside!
Need to check emails.....
I do see the 2 eyasses... and the one egg shell. My conclusion is that the 3rd chick never was....
ICE CREAM TIME!

That was before the third egg hatched, I think. I'd have to go back to double check.

I'm not sure NILLA but the caption on your email should have been a heads-up to us! lol
Yes! It is great to have our early morning eagle eyed gal back with us in full force! loL
Do I spot Frodo?
Wow, Sandra. That's AWESOME! Can you save me a copy?
AND IT IS GREAT TO BE BACK!
You can see the 2 chicks and the egg very clearly right now. It looks like there is still someting inside the egg.
Could it be the remains of the missing chick? Who knows. This is the first time I have seen the chicks. They are sooo cute.
Jill it started to pour as soon as Tori said, mom it is just a light rain but it eased up when I got to my sis in laws. Seems she is going to see my brother end of Oct overseas so I will be minding the 3 boys here, banging head against wall!lol

OOh, sounds like the sign police are patroling the neighborhoods keeping us all safe...
ANYHOO! Time to close down

MEGAN--Glad you are on here. Your sign is done and in the Shop.
What agency does she work for?
Burlington? That's clear up passed Norma's. Doesn't she have plenty of signs up there to worry about????????? NORMA????????
State Road has their regional office in Burlington.
Megan-did you get my note about the 2nd? You answered the second email I sent but didn't say anything about the first.
Thanks, Wanda, I am really struggling to find replacements for the 3 people I lost, and I am running out of time. Does that lady work for the state of WV?

I like your idea Jill; Move the sign a couple of times. I would love to come up something because I know we lose sales.
ROBYN--Loved the video of the Pandas. I have never seen them playing like that.
Wanda, you should watch them at the National Zoo, Mei and Tian play like that alot, so do the Atlanta pandas....GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE.
OK Girls...I have had it for today. TTYT.....Nite
Wanda did you think of making 2 signs? One for the first half of the month and another for the 2nd half?
Wow, got lost on the phone, then in TV and then emails...finally found my way back...
I would put up a sign on Oct 1. On Oct 10, call the stupid sign lady and ask her if you can put up your sign. Then put up a different sign...
Have a good night all!
Good Morning, Suz

Beautiful pic on our cam, but nest is MT. To be expected at this hour, and can only see a line or two of Spidey's web. Wish he's win the lottery and go live in the Bahamas or something!
Only getting the cam logo on the SD cam, so darn, can't see Bai or Squiggles or anyone else.
Frieda is on the chicks, and they have an update asking folks to look at their galleries to see if you can figure out what happened to the missing chick. Cool pics on there, but will look later.
All have a great eagle/panda Friday day!
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly.
Oh, just got a peek at the babies. Well, one anyway, Frieda stood up. Now she's got her head down rearranging them, I guess.
Good morning, Suzanne....
More or less the same scenario today. How are you doing?
I don't think Squiggles is sleeping in the den these nights anyway. I know the place was empty when I went to bed.
They have a lot more room just outside the den, and that's where they are, although the baby WAS sleeping in the den during the day.
Remember So Cal in your rain dances back East. OK?
Hope you see some interesting critters today... Have a great weekend.
Jim
GOOD FRIDAY MORNING, EVERYONE TGIF...SUZANNE:)
Morning, Mits! Yes it is! Gotta tell ya, I'm very glad, too!
See Spidey's one web strand? Hope that guy doesn't try to build the Taj Mahal this year like he did last year!
Morning, Suaznne, and Jim I hope you're sleeping by now. Heavy rain last night, raining here again now.
We had some rain last night, sounded nice on the roof....
I know that's probably considered a weed, I used to think that when I was little, but I want to plant some so I can try and get some Monarch butterflies hanging out next year.
ok, I'm up this early, going to get my coffee....Suz, you want some???
Thanks, Mits, I have Micky D's iced here with me!!! Have to have my daily fix of caffine, ya know!
Time is getting closer!
Ok, think I have a sec. BRB...
Phew, back. Doesn't look like I missed anything.
Frieda still on babies, she keeps changing positions, but I never see her get up to do it!
Still no cam in SD. Think Jim's right, they're sleeping outside now, anyway.
Don't know what happened to the one Chick, Suzanne. Paula , Robyn and I watched it very closely the other night.
Sunrise down in FLA.
Pandas still asleep in DC.
GOOD MORNING SUZ, MITS, JIM AND MEGAN--
Suz, you are talking about Monarch Butterflies, one of my favorite thing to do in the late Summer and Fall. We have many plants of Milkweed here and I gather all the caterpillers that I can find and put them in containers. I refresh their supply of milkweed as needed until they make their cacoon. Then I give the containers to children and let them experience the life cycle of the butterfly.
Almost time for our VISIT.
every time spidey's web moves I think it is incoming.
Morning, Wanda! That's what I'm wanting to do, plant the milkweed, and hope they find it, then maybe I'll get butterflies. If I get one, I'm sure I'll get others. Do yours grow wild, or did you initially get some plants to get started?
going to get another cup of java..
Hope they can figure out what happened!
cool, Wanda...
Wow, Wanda, that's awesome! I'd love to watch that. So what do you do, just put some leaves and a branch in a see through container, and let nature take it's course? How do you keep refilling the container, just with more leaves and they eat the ones already in there?
HELLO EAGLE
EAGLE ALERT!!!!
BIG MOMMA IN THE NEST.
NOW BOTH!!!
EAGLE ALERT!
I have not seen any caterpillars at all this year. I don't know if it is because of the heat or the drought. I haven't had a lot of time to search for them this Summer. I would be happy to give you some seeds. I will mail them to you or give them to you on the 20th.
Phew, be still my heart!
So nice to see them!!!
Good morning Mits and Suzanne!
GOOD A.M. SHARON.
Oh cool, Wanda! I can get them on the 20th. Can I plant them then? Or should I wait till Spring?
Doing a little nestorations, I guess. Or just talking.
Good morning, Sharon. And there they are!!!
Or one, now.
Well, think that may be Belle, and looks like she's looking at the cam.
Ok, we're here...did you see?????
We had a big storm come through here last evening with almost hurricane-like winds and lots of rain and then some rain again this morning. I would imagine ther is a lot of work to be done on this nest. It will probably take 10 0r 12 visits to make repairs. lol
Poof, gone. Quick first visit, but sure was nice to see them. Hopefully that is the first of several this morning!
ALL GONE, but 2 eagles sitting on a branch down in Tesoro...Florida
I could never get my old Fla cam back up, so Lynda sent me another link, where the cam is pulled way back and both are sitting under the nest.
Oh, sounds like a cool view, Mits!
Pics of this morning's visit are enroute.
Sun is shining brightly on the eagles down in FLA.
Mits what is the link to the tesoro cam, I keep getting a black screen on their site.
Thanks Suzanne, it must have landed on my seat when I sat down, stupid bug
Hello Mits, Wanda, Candy and Robyn. SOrry, Robyn, that sounds awful, I didn't even know they could bite. They are everywhere here this year. Yesterday there were almost 35 on one screen door. I will make sure you get some plants from me next year, Suzanne, our yard is full of monarchs.
Megan they mix 2 chemicals in the body and release it as a defense equivilant to 360 degrees, which cuases a burning sensation and trust me it BURNS.
Robyn, I didn't know they bit either, or burned. Just know if you touch them, they stick up the place like, IMMEDIATELY! Hate the things.
Thanks, Megan. I want a lot of Monarch's so I'll take as many plants as you think I'll need!
New thread come on over
I've only seen 1 stink bug so far this year. He was on my bathroom screen, so I sprayed him with some air freshener and he dropped like a rock and took off, but at least he will smell nice.
