MORNING, STEVEN....THANKS FOR THE WORKING IN THE NEST THREAD:).

MITS said...

MEI AND TIAN are rough-housing outside.

MITS said...

Tai is sitting in his shoot, lolly-gagging this a.m.

MITS said...

a heron just flew by on the Florida site.

Suzanne said...

LOL, Steven, thanks for trying! Thanks for the new thread, and thanks Robyn for the heads up.
Mits, laughed at your last comment, suppose a good smelling stink bug isn't so bad....

MITS said...

the keeper is trying to talk Tai into coming out....good luck with that.

Suzanne said...

Cool, Mits. Speaking of herons, what's with BW? It's still down! Darn.

Jill said...

Bet that was one mad stink bug. LOL. Probably out warning the others not to go to Mits' house. HE HE

MITS said...

Yes, Suzanne, smells like an orange now:). They been having some issues at BW, but they are working on it.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Jill. LOL, Mits, believe Tai has a mind of his own, doesn't he? Too funny. I thought they'd have BW fixed by now, Mits, guess not. Hopefully, Monday.

Found a good article on growing milkweeds. Answered my questions from earlier.

http://www.monarchwatch.org/milkweed/prop.htm

Now all I gotta do is wait till after frost, and I can get started outdoors.

Robyn said...

My cats play with them and they pull their heads up FAST and shake it when they move them nasty bugs lol

Robyn said...

Morning Jill

Robyn said...

Bonaire cam is back up Suz

MITS said...

yep, Jill, he was not happy, sure he would have loved to get inside and bite me...

Suzanne said...

Oh, we have a cam at SD, but we also have a very MT den! Least the cam is back...

Suzanne said...

Thanks, Robyn! Been watching the donkeys a bit this morning.

So ok, are we only gonna get one visit today? Is it still raining in WV?

MITS said...

Liberty is standing on the 12noon edge of the nest! Like Sharon mentioned, we need the camera tilted because all I can see are his feet

Mema Jo said...

Our eagles have a lot of repairs to make after that big storm last evening.

Suzanne said...

Morning, Jo. Mits has been having coffee with Lib and Belle this morning!

MITS said...

MITS is going to be wired up today.

Suzanne said...

Ya know, if they tilt the cam more, we won't be able to see the launch pad by the tree. The one Spunky used to hide by. Maybe a wider angle? Can they do that?

Suzanne said...

So not a good day to sit and read a book, huh Mits?

Costume Lady said...

I agree with you Mits. I liked it better when we could see a little of the surrounding area.

Suzanne said...

She looks wet, as does the nest. Must be raining.

Costume Lady said...

SUZ--When you have time, check out my blog "WANDA'S WISHES" and you will see one of my Monarchs that just hatched.

MITS said...

Not today, Suzanne, maybe I can get into cleaning out the bedroom closet...

Robyn said...

Clear skies Suz but it was raining earlier this morning

MITS said...

Unless, they have a remote, don't think the view is going to change.

Suzanne said...

Have Bai and Squiggles up too, and Bai is really flipping that grass! She's having a ball!

Robyn said...

Nice long visit this morning :)

Suzanne said...

Belle must have found something.

Bai is going nuts with that bamboo!

Robyn said...

Both in nest

Mema Jo said...

I just went over to read the previous thread - had to find out if there was anything going on to have Mits up so early. 5 cups of coffee will wire ya

My cat got me out of my nice warm comfy bed with a blood curtailing meow! All she wanted was to go out on the deck - hubby had been up earlier & fed them. I should have named her Puddles - she loves the water! The big old tom, Scar doesn't even like to step on a rain soaked rug!

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for jumping down in the nest so we could see ya, Lib

normabyrd said...

Hello JO:) Missed them again, did I? sigh.. oh well, glad they are working on the nest and you guys are watching. Gotta run out of here til much later..TGIF! Hope you get some good news soon, Mits. Better slow down on that coffee!! Nice, cool morning, soggy. Heavy rain last night and another shower this morning. The only toxic thing I found in my house was Windex, that's qwhat I've been spraying on the stink bugs that hang on my screens, I don't know if it makes them smell good, but they are streak free! Just remind me next spring, Suzaqnne, I grow all sorts of butterfly/caterpillar plants. LAter- have a great weekend.

Suzanne said...

Mema Jo said...

See you later, Megan! May the sun shine for you on the pumpkins!

Suzanne said...

Mema Jo said...

And there went Liberty

I bet they come back later! Maybe not 5 times - but that nest really does need some side-build-up

Suzanne said...

so, had to go back and read what I missed while watching Lib and Belle and Bai.
Morning, Paula, thanks for the heads up about BW. I tried it this morning earlier, and it was down, so I just closed it.

GREAT NEWS for a MOOREFIELD EAGLE!!!---heard on NPR & in paper this a.m.----"A bald eagle found more than a year ago with a head wound & other injuries will be set free on Fri. The Wildlife Center of VA plans to release the bird at the South Branch Wildlife Management Area north of Moorefield. The adult male bald eagle was found along an area railroad in May, 2006 with a large wound on the top of its head & other injuries to its back & leg. Officials suspect he may have been injured in a fight with another bald eagle. Bird taken to DNR Wildlife Center's clinic in Waynesboro, VA where it was nursed back to health."-------Moorefield (HARDY CO.) adjoins my county (HAMPSHIRE) & (GRANT) county on the other side!!---JILL'S home county------

NORMA--You have to be careful of those Hikes. We went to the mountains last Saturday (a family member had 2 acres of land for sale at 10,000.00 which is a steal, and while walking on the nearby trail, I came upon a big, fresh pile of BEAR scat. I decided I didn't want that property. My Mother wanted to stay until she could see the Bear. I would do ANYTHING her, but not that. We left.

Suzanne said...

Norma, Sheba has always been top cat, since the second I brought her home from the shelter! At the time I only had Pharaoh, and brought Sheba home, she hissed at him, he didn't care, and she took over from there.
When I brought Gypsy in the house, (she was a stray), I still had the 2, Pharaoh and Sheba. But took Gypsy to the vet before I let her meet the others, and shots and everything, and he told me no shots, she was pregnant! So she had 5 babies, 3 of which I still have. Gave 2 away, one to a friend, and one to my sister. Pharaoh was a good surrogate mother for Gypsy, but after the kittens grew, he didn't get along all that well with her, and she knew her place. Now that he is no longer there, she is coming out and about more...read...on my lap CONSTANTLY! Or at least as much as she can between a couple of her kids and Sheba. But everyone seems to get along ok, not great, but ok. Don't think Gyps has the personality to be an alpha. If anyone can dethrone Sheba, it will be either Precious or Tinklerbelle, Gypsy's daughters. But hard as they have tried several times, Sheba ain't giving up her throne!

Suzanne said...

Norma, I'm so glad you finally got to see some divers! No, wasn't watching, so glad you got to see them.

normabyrd said...

WANDA----Lots of BEAUTIFUL places to hike in this area----BEARS would scare me too!!!----Long time ago--a bear was in my lawn--(I wasn't home)------Next day---talked to DNR friend---(GET THIS)----He ASSURED me if I was sitting outside & had no food----BEAR would be afraid of me!!!!----SOME READING & FEW YRS. LATER!!---"I DON'T BELIEVE HIM"----ho!---

paula eagleholic said...

It is beautiful outside here now.

normabyrd said...

SUZANNE---That is so interesting!------The story of your cats' lives would make a good book for children-----You know--"AS THE CAT TURNS"----ho!---"GYPSY" will always be # 1 with me---I have seen her pic & she is so COOL!!!!

normabyrd said...

VERY CLEVER JO!!!--I saw that comment!!----Isn't it time for your "PANDA NAP"?---(ho)

Suzanne said...

LOL, thanks, Norma. I thought about writing a book when the kittens were born, how they were born, then their first year or so. Got busy and never had time. Maybe one of these days. Gypsy loves you too, I always give her extra pets now and tell her they're "from Norma."

Mema Jo said...

Not quite - I didn't get up as early as Mits did! lol

HELEN---Any names picked out??--"HELENA" maybe?

Suzanne said...

Not to change the subject, but Jo and Norma, what do you think they mean about learning the fate of Meerkat Manor on the 28th? They've been saying that for the last 2 weeks, and I'm hoping they're not taking it off the air! I'm wondering if the clash of the klans, which seems inevitable between Flower's group and the other group, if something happens to Flower and her gang, and they're gonna take it off the air. You guys have any ideas?

Mits, I'll be you are on the ceiling! 5 cups of java will do that to ya! Guess a nap is outta the question...

Hi, everyone. Fall is in the air up on this mountain where I am. It's 58 degrees, with a brisk breeze blowing. I read the entries about bears and had to let you all know that bear hunting is a really big thing in Pendleton County. 121 bears were checked in by hunters last bear season. I have mixed feelings about bear hunting - but have decided that we'd probably get over-run by them if they weren't hunted. One of my objections to the hunting is the way it is done. These big macho bear hunters send their radio-collared dogs out into the woods and then they sit in their pick-ups along the road with antennas sticking out of their window, tracking the dogs. I always feel like giving them the finger when I pass them sitting there, but figure I might get shot if I do!

Norma, Dana is down here. Hedgesville Tennis Coach. His son Dustin is the starting quarterback for Martinsburg. Truth be known he is probably a grandfather too. His first wife was a real treat and the oldest daughter is just like her. I see Dustin and the middles sister quite a bit. They all 3 went to the same baby sitter as Joey. Dustin fell when he was small and knocked out his front teeth. I had never seen him with front teeth because they left the babysitters. Til Joey's senior year he came up to me and started talking. Had no clue who he was because he had front teeth. He hangs out down the street with one of Zach's friends. And as I type this and look out the window there he is. Looks a lot like the Peters"
