I was just trying to read the Momsters email and was wondering why I can never view the Panda Cam Postcards that some of the Members send in the column. Can you see them?
Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Finally got to see both of them in the nest this morning! What a wonderful sight! Thanks for the heads up, Megan, and good morning.
Not sure Wanda, a lot of times I can't see things you guys can view, I live in a dial up world:( I already have 6 screens open and if I open another to check I'll probably crash the computer.
Wanda, sometimes the pics don't show up for me either, I get a little red x. But if you scroll all the way to the bottom, the pic may be there. I couldn't see some pics like that either, and sometimes they show up, other times they don't.
GOOD MORNING BIRD GIRL--Hope you are with us this morning and are feeling well for this special day. I don't sing very well, but here goes: Happpppyyyyy Birthdaaaayyyyy Toooo Youuuuuuu. Have the best ever day!!!
Wanda, that's what I was talking about. I can't view them from the original sender, go figure. But if somebody responds to the email, SOMETIMES, the pic is at the very bottom. I mean very bottom, scroll down as far as you can. That's the only way I can view the postcards of Squiggles. I did get Crissy's original pic, but it was at the bottom. Don't know why that is, and it drives me nuts.
Morning, Robyn and Glo! Yes, it was so nice to see them this morning! I was excited! And I saw a Great Blue Heron in BW very early this morning, and that was exciting. It's a good day!
Good morning, Norma! Norma, do you know what an addiction is???? In your case, your ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRSSSSSSS. Did I say that right?
Morning, Jo. YES! I finally got to see our Liberty and Belle in the nest this morning! I was thrilled!!! So so happy they made an appearance. We have a decent cam pic, now it would be nice if they popped in again, but probably not until tonight. They don't visit during the day. And never mind about the decent pic...it's going south again.
What is Bai doing? She reaches down and wakes Squiggles, but Bai is sitting there wathing her. Oh ok, as I type that, she picked the little one up to nurse.
Sometimes I have troubles with the pictures like Suz described...they show up at the far bottom of the email. Also, if you right click on the small red x, and click on show picture, sometimes that works. The other thing to do is to go ahead and save or open the picture, and then maybe you can see it.
LOL!!! Mits, too funny! Look at her, she just grabs Squiggles and pulls or pushes her whereever she wants her to go. Hilarious. One of these days, Squiggles is gonna really get mobile, then Bai won't be able to roll her anymore.
It is a GLORIOUS day here in WV--temp. 59°---expecting warmer weather!!----MEGAN have you started your "PUMPKIN TOURS"?--I still have pics of Grand Kids in a 'pumpkin patch' when they lived in Shepherdstown!!!---
I love watching SQUIGGLES too & I have noticed that I am getting more "blank" pics lately than in the beginning----But isn't she just too--too much!!!---I agree SUZANNE---she has a mind of her own & when she gets stronger---WOW!!----CHRISSY'S pic was one of the best!!!
Hey Jo:) Can you send me Jill's email? I have had 2 employees change their mind in the past 2 days about working, and I need to see if she wants to help any days.
Sea Otters: Yesterday afternoon I was able to spot all 6 Otter Brothers playing around at the DC zoo cam! Sea Otters DE Zoo They are fast little critters Then I went to the Monterey Bay site and watched their otters! Sea Otters Monterey Bay Aquarium
You know me, I like little critters like burrowing owls and such! Bookmark the sights
One PANDA in DC is "sunning his tummy"----One is taking a nap--with face close to camera!!!---Both are ADORABLE!!!----Can't tell them apart in these pics!!---
I hope everyone is well. I'm up early to go to the Dr.'s, but I'm thinking I should start getting up earlier again. I think I probably get more done in the morning, and it's sunnier and funner to kick back in the afternoon anyway.
Graf, huh, Jo? One thing to say, that is a training area for the Army, and he should be VERY GLAD HE IS PERMANENT PARTY!!!!!! And not a trainee. Say THANK YOU, GOD! It's not a bad area, but they get LOTS more snow than where I was! That's why the trainees don't like it so much. Too much snow. It is a beautiful area, though. A tad north and way east of where I was, on the other side of Nurnberg, but close to the Czech border! Just think of all the crystal he can buy in Prague! Nuff for here, I'll send ya an email.
Morning, Jim. I hope your Dr's appt is just sort of a follow up or something, but nothing serious I hope. Jo, like the name Mr Patience for the BW eagle. He sure is that, he sits there for hours! But that is so nice to see! Squiggles is still alone, and as dark as it is, you can almost see her about 12 o'clock. Have to look for the contrasting black, or you'd miss her.
HEY JIM!!!---Wishing you a GOOD report from Dr.-----I heard that it never rains in Southern CA---(ho) SO what's with this RAIN DANCE---Did you invite MEGAN to dance!!!--She brought us RAIN!!!
Well, I do love Boston and haven't been there since I was sbout 12. I'm glad Jim's getting the rain, now we need it back... we are still 6-7 inches down for the year.
Fingers crossed all, Tori gets tested for Honors Math next week she is apprehensive as it may change her class schedule but I can't see her acing a class she already took last year when she needs to be callenged.
Jo I thought it was me so I opened it twice. I had friends who would fly to Boston to get bagels then return home with them. I still prefer NY bagels :)
CURSES HELEN!!---I missed the fighting---but check out "LITTLE PRINCE"----He is so enjoying that stream of water---Attempting to make the water flow faster!!!---LITTLE IMP!!!
Jo, that link got us to the login page of Yahoo groups. Norma, I have it up, but don't watch it steadily, just glance occassionally. Actually working, and watching BW and Squiggles mostly. Have other cams open but minimized.
ATTENTION---Just talked with DNR person & he says he doubts an EAGLE or HAWK will pick up a cat or dog--(because they will put up a fight)---But he said the GOLDEN EAGLE probably would & at night HORNED OWLS are dangerous!!!
You're welcome, Jo. If he has any questions, let me know. He will love that area! Robyn, that's great news about Tori! I'm sure she'll do quite well. You should be so proud!!! But of course, you are!
We have a hawk that comes around every once in a while, but he can't get the birds at my house, cause his wing span is too big to get between the house and where the feeders are. And I don't think I've ever seen the outdoor kitty around when he is. He comes in and stands and looks around on my fence, then flys off into a tree next door. Well, in winter. He would never get in that tree now with all the leaves, he can't land. They do have large wing spans, and they have to fit. Haven't seen the guy for quite a while, though, but my neighbor saw him about a month ago. Evidentally he makes the rounds in the neighborhood!
OOh, keep your pets inside, ladies, the boogeyman might get em..... We have coyotes around our area. Never seen one myself. I always keep our little dog in sight. I know the hawks won't pick up cats, I can't even get them to take these darn squirrels.(sorry squirrel fans)
Gonna hit the road early. Get ahead of all the accidents that seem to happen on Fridays. Maybe I'll get home in time to take a nap before Meerkat Manor, and I won't fall asleep tonight. Yeah, right. Sure glad it's on on Saturdays too! Take lots of pics of our babies this weekend. We've got a nice start on the 2007 eagle cam season in Momsters! Bai fell asleep, but just woke up and is looking out the door again. Oh, there she goes, keeper must have left. Yup, Squiggles all alone. Give her a sec, she'll be bringing in more bedding! All have a great weekend. Blog at ya Monday. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
MITS---I always call on you to cuss---I don't know how!!!!---But I so LOVE to watch those two!!!---HE usually runs & she chases!!!---THEY DON'T SET A GOOD EXAMPLE FOR THE "LITTLE PRINCE"------ho!---HE IS SO "SWEET"----
HELEN----I had that trouble when I was attempting to get back on after I talked with DNR!!!---KEPT REFUSING ME ENTRANCE!!!----Thought you folks had VOTED me off the BLOG!!!!!----(don't ever do that)
Hey all! I stumbled across a nature photographer with some nice eagle shots if anyone is interested - E.J. Peiker. All his stuff is good but here's a link to his bald eagle shots:
Good morning all. Just a quick note to tell you that squiggles is now a bona fide movie star. Just saw her on Fox news. She is beautiful and so roly poly.
It has been interesting to read the various replies about whether a hawk would take a kitten. Some say "yes" and some say "no". Maybe it depends on the type of hawk, the availability of food, or how hungry it is. If it happens, maybe it is something that has not been observed and communicated very often. I'm sure that there is a lot that we do not yet know about nature. Today's communication technology, including webcams, is sure to greatly increase our knowledge and understanding of this world we live in and share with other creatures! Aren't we lucky to live now and have access to these wonders!
Wanda, Hi. I'm not 100% sure yet whether I'll be able to be there on the 20th. I'm going to be away the 2 weekends before that one. If I do come, I may not stay for dinner. I'll let everyone know the week before the 20th.
CAROL---I'm glad you read GARY'S remarks about the HAWK or EAGLE carrying off a dog or cat----He retired this year from DNR---You are certainly correct about so much info available to us now!---I marvel when I happen to see one of the Grand Kid's text books----WOW!! Looking forward to seeing you 10/20!!!!!
BOB!!!---Those EAGLE photographs are UNBELIEVABLE!!!!----BEST I have ever seen!!!!---I also glanced through his other photos---How could ONE choose???---I appreciate your sharing them with us!!!---
Check out Frieda.......still darkness However, looks as though her head is down and maybe checking under her. Off to the left of her wing can you see any white fluff?
Norma - I love finding gems like that. If you look at his scenic shots he lists over 20 states and 19 countries in his index but none from WV, VA or MD. Maybe we should invite hime to the NCTC Open House! LOL
I just quickly checked out Peiker's home site. He is some talented photographer. I could not believe all the photos he has on that site. The photos of some of the National Parks and of Arizona and Utah are breath-taking. I'm going to have to spend some serious time looking at his site. Thank you, Bob, for the link.
Tonight BILL MOYERS JOURNAL (PBS) looks at the life and legacy of Rachel Carson. Rachel Carson and her most famous book, SILENT SPRING, are often credited with inspiring the modern global environmental movement.
The program will feature writer/performer Kaiulani Lee and her 15-year journey to spread Rachel Carson's ecological message to the world.
Ahhhh - eagles swallowing whole fish - technology showing us things about nature we didn't know before. I remember when we watched our 3 eaglets that I was totally amazed to see that eagles (and other birds?) sleep on their side. I loved to see them laying on one side, with their upper wing and leg stretched out. Remember when we were all amazed to see that eagles catch and eat turtles?
Just a quick hello again, then off to get Tori at the bus.
Since the falcon incubates her eggs approx. 36 days they should be hatching around the 25th of Sept. Just a few more days. Been curious so I looked up some of their info about F&F. I may have over or undercounted my digits (forgot to count my toes) lol

One eagle left at BW. Bai and Squiggles still sound asleep, lucky girls!
Bai waking up, dragging bamboo and covering Squiggles. That is so cute! Then she'll pick Squiggles up and nurse!
Yup, there she goes, has Squiggles and all the new bamboo down by her foot. Snack time...

Bai is sitting up, and was looking up at cam. Squiggles still in all that hey/bamboo sleeping, but think mom's gonna wake her.
Uh oh, Mits, is that good or bad? I was trying to do the Eeeeeeeers thing Norma does so well. I got it right here, went back and looked at hers!
What is Bai doing? She reaches down and wakes Squiggles, but Bai is sitting there wathing her. Oh ok, as I type that, she picked the little one up to nurse.

The Roll the Squiggles game is now in progress...

Norma, pandas are on the move at NZ
Tai is on cam #2, and Mei and Tian are on 1, and snarling.

Mits, what is Bai doing? She kinda pokes Squiggles, then sits and watches her. Is she trying to get Squiggles to start crawling around?
Morning, Jim!!
Door just opened, did you see the light? Think Bai's gonna go check it out. Uh oh, covering Squigs up first!
Morning, Jim!
Looks like Squiggles is starting to walk...
All the baby elephants are getting a bath too.
Jim
She is probably telling her to be quiet....she will not walk for a while yet.
Great photos. Thanks Suz and Sharon and Jo.
Suzanne Send me an email sometime and tell me about
Grafenwoehr, Germany. Orders are now definite for Patrick.
I hope everyone is well. I'm up early to go to the Dr.'s, but I'm thinking I should start getting up earlier again. I think I probably get more done in the morning, and it's sunnier and funner to kick back in the afternoon anyway.
Have a great day.

SOMEBODY MAKE SURE MEGAN SEES THIS. I have to go back to work.
Well, I do love Boston and haven't been there since I was sbout 12. I'm glad Jim's getting the rain, now we need it back... we are still 6-7 inches down for the year.

Norma, I have it up, but don't watch it steadily, just glance occassionally.
Actually working, and watching BW and Squiggles mostly. Have other cams open but minimized.
Norms, are you cursing again?:):):)
Bai's den door is open, and she's watching something out there.
Where is squiggles?
Bai has her in her left arm, she's holding her close, so I'm guessing a keeper is out there cleaning up. She's really watching!
There, Squiggles just moved. If you look at Bai's left shoulder, there is a "bump" That bump moves every once in a while.
Thanks Suzanne. Link are great also!
Mits - you have mail.
GO TORI
You sure are making your Momma Proud!
ATTENTION---Just talked with DNR person & he says he doubts an EAGLE or HAWK will pick up a cat or dog--(because they will put up a fight)---But he said the GOLDEN EAGLE probably would & at night HORNED OWLS are dangerous!!!
Moon must be shinning down under because it's 1am and you get a pretty clear view of Frieda.
Good info Norma. Hopefully all the outside cats are fighters!!!
You're welcome, Jo. If he has any questions, let me know. He will love that area!
Robyn, that's great news about Tori! I'm sure she'll do quite well. You should be so proud!!! But of course, you are!

That is what I did just before I lost it. It has come back on but it is
not clear - lots of lines.
Now it is clear and beautiful...
Hey all! I stumbled across a nature photographer with some nice eagle shots if anyone is interested - E.J. Peiker. All his stuff is good but here's a link to his bald eagle shots:
E.J. Peiker
If you have time check out some of his other stuff too (Including other types of eagles).
How did you get a Saturday off?
That will be your long weekend!
mine came back on but had the time of 40 minutes ago, refreshed cam back with lines, now it is ok.
BBL....
Good morning all. Just a quick note to tell you that squiggles is now a bona fide movie star. Just saw her on Fox news. She is beautiful and so roly poly.
Bob That is quite a 'find'.
Very impressive and interesting bio.
Those photos are breathtaking--sure had good subjects to capture.
Wow! Those are some great eagle pictures he took. Thanks for sharing the link, Bob.
Time for me to leave the PJ Club room. BBL
OMG, Bob, those eagle photos are beautiful! Some of the best I have ever seen.
I couldn't get shots of an eagle that close unless it was stuffed. He has a great feel for capturing the light on his subjects in a marvelous way.
I bookedmarked the eagle pics, how beautiful!
I have no problem getting into the NCTC site but at times it will go black but next reset it comes back.
errrr bookmarked

It has been interesting to read the various replies about whether a hawk would take a kitten. Some say "yes" and some say "no". Maybe it depends on the type of hawk, the availability of food, or how hungry it is. If it happens, maybe it is something that has not been observed and communicated very often. I'm sure that there is a lot that we do not yet know about nature. Today's communication technology, including webcams, is sure to greatly increase our knowledge and understanding of this world we live in and share with other creatures! Aren't we lucky to live now and have access to these wonders!
Hi CAROL---
DANA--What did you think of Kid Nation Wed. night?
Carol, are you coming on the 20th?
Eagle at BW
THE WWF (WORLD WILDLIFE FUND) HAS ANNOUNCED THE WINNER OF THE CONTEST FOR THE WORLD'S "CUTEST ANIMAL" IS THE PANDA!!!!!
"Mr Eagle" at BW
Wanda, Hi. I'm not 100% sure yet whether I'll be able to be there on the 20th. I'm going to be away the 2 weekends before that one. If I do come, I may not stay for dinner. I'll let everyone know the week before the 20th.
Think Mr eagle has lunch...which is where I'm headed...
BOB!!!---Those EAGLE photographs are UNBELIEVABLE!!!!----BEST I have ever seen!!!!---I also glanced through his other photos---How could ONE choose???---I appreciate your sharing them with us!!!---
Hi Carol Remember we'll get together for LUNCH in the NCTC cafe!
RIGHT ON!!HURRAY FOR THE PANDA
Panda Nap Time ..........
Check out Frieda.......still darkness
However, looks as though her head is down and maybe checking under her.
Off to the left of her wing
can you see any white fluff?
Norma - I love finding gems like that. If you look at his scenic shots he lists over 20 states and 19 countries in his index but none from WV, VA or MD. Maybe we should invite hime to the NCTC Open House! LOL
I just quickly checked out Peiker's home site. He is some talented photographer. I could not believe all the photos he has on that site. The photos of some of the National Parks and of Arizona and Utah are breath-taking. I'm going to have to spend some serious time looking at his site. Thank you, Bob, for the link.
OK, I wasn't gonna look, was gonna save it for later....Exquisite!
Did you see the eagle swallowing the whole fish?
I didn't know eagles would swallow a whole fish like that. That surprised me.
Bob, I was watching Limuw on the Santa Cruz nest this year, and he did that! Then he chucked it back up! It was too funny!
Now that I think of it, I think K26 swallowed one whole too!
From Lisa if anyone's interested:
Getting light in Brisbane...Jo, thought I saw white fuzz earlir, but think it was just her feathers.
that's earlier.......
So I guess 4 more days before hatchings....Bob, great site, thanks...
My guess would be Monday for F & F
Frieda is wide awake and in color
Frieda looks stunning today. I would have to say the motherhood agrees with her.
Awwww, baby eewwiiee at BW
