I am finally on my computer at home, but have a friend wanting me to go shopping with her, I should be cleaning house, but will go with her as I haven't seen or heard from her all week. Just wanted to let you know that I am still with you sin spirit and heart if not on here physically. BBL
Congrats to Mits for being number 1 on the blog today. You go MITS!
GOOD MORNING JILL, MITS, PAULA AND CANDY and all you other friends sleeping in.
It is a beautiful morning here in Shepherdstown/Martinsburg. I just bet Lib & Belle are hopping around from limb to limb in their Sycamore tree hoping some of us will come and visit them soon. Enjoy this beautiful day and have a wonderful Holiday.
MITS-- Wow--that email was kinda a slap in the face. Thanks for his address; he will be hearing from me. I was not very happy when he became Mayor. Don't know him, but didn't have a good feeling about him. I will measure my words very carefully, but he will know how the the majority of the people in this area feel about the Farmers Market.
I don't know if e-mailing him will help, or make him dig in his heels more, if that is the case, he is a true politician...just like the digbats down here at OC.
Morning Mits, Paula, Candy, Jo, Wanda, gorgeous day today nice breeze coming in the house, cloudless sky, who could ask for a better day.
Watching the Bonaire cams and still looking nice there also.
Need to run to DMV and get truck registered and inspected that is it for my day going to take it easy rest of day. I'll be closing the pool in 2 weeks so we might as well enjoy this weekend and next.
Off to peek at some cams quickly then off to DMV.
Morning mom :) I know you are out there lurking (she is here daily to catch up also)
the tufted titmouses (mice *g*) are really noisy today

WOW! CONGRATS!!!! PAULA!!!!----"A BOY"-----Our little group is growing in the best way!!!-----Soon HELEN will be making an announcement!!!!----NOTHING BETTER THAN A NEW BABY!!!----
Norma I see many daily they try and push the chickadee around that is why they are so noisy, like just before. I believe I need to get more seed as I am running low.
I love the cardinal, especilly in winter when they stand out against the snow :) so petty!
GOOD MORNING NORMA & ROBYN-- The Titmouse is one of our favorites. They let us know the feeder is empty by sitting in the tree riht outside our kitchen door and twittering their heads off. When the Capt. fills the feeders back up, they stop fussing.
I think my BOY FINNY is taking a Labor Day Vacation----or else he is out hunting DAD to find him FOOD-----because he is hungry!!---FINNY is what you would call "REALLY-LAID-BACK"------

good morning everyone, happy labor day to you all. Hi robyn, yes, I am a lurker but will try to come on more often. Wish we had some cool weather here am really waiting for next month when it changes. By the way, rob, we had a visit from two woodstorks yesterday in the back yard. Haven't seen them in awhile. Will try to get picture next time they come.
HELEN----I received an email this a.m. from the WORLD WILDLIFE FUND (WWF)----They are having a contest called "WORLD'S CUTEST ANIMAL"!!!!-----GUESS WHO I VOTED FOR???---My animal is black & white!!!---ho!!!!I will forward it to you & any one else that wants to vote---- anyone else interested w/forward-----Think it ends 9/21/07----
MORNIN' BOBBI----I guess you are going to have to move to WV to enjoy our beautiful weather---ho!--(come on up)!!!!I wanted to know about the WOOD STORKS----There were pictures of them on a bird magazine I receive!!!----I think I ask you about them when you first posted!!!----They are really "different" looking!!!--
Time to go out on the deck and get some warm sun rays! No special plans for the day - Maybe hubby will take me to market tomorrow morning to see the gals and get some flowers. and a quick trip to the nest --
GOOD MORNING JILL-- Go sit on my Mom's porch. She has all the birds that are in our area there, along with deer, foxes, ducks, geese, raccoons, possums, squirrels, groundhogs, cows, horses and the crew from Martins Landing.LOL
Hi, sorry I didn't answer before this but I couldn't get on here with my password. Just found it by error I hope. As for the woodstorks, they are really not a beautiful bird like the eagles but they seem to be really gentle.I would say they stand about three feet tall or maybe a little bigger. They also seem to be really gentle. Last year they were here with a baby. Don't know what you call a young woodstork and did not seem to be afraid of humans. They were only about 20 feet from me and did not try to fly away. They have come here for the past four years. They mate for life also. In the back of me there is a runoff in case of heavy rains and when there is water there they come to eat the tadpoles and whatever else is there. Though, when they are in flight they are really graceful. The eagles down here starting their nests in november and are about three miles from where I live. In the early spring you can see them flying over the back patio on the air currents.
BOBBI-- The Wood Stork sounds interesting. I'll have to look it up and see what it looks like. Your wildlife sounds very interesting. Ladies...maybe we will all hop into the Eagle Express and pay a visit to BOBBI!!
BOBBI---Thanks for the info on the WOOD STORKS---I think they sound so very interesting----would love to see one!!----BOBBI---You know I think I may move to your area---It truly sounds beautiful!!
NORMA--That would be fun wouldn't it? We have so much fun in Florida. It is a beautiful state and so much to do and see. We haven't been there in about 2 years. Miss going there in the Winter months.
Good Morning all, boy have I got allot to do this weekend. I'm so glad to have three days off. My pretty home looks like a bomb hit it. I need to set four outfits out for work and then pack so I wont have to disturb anything.I slept until 8:00 this morning. It felt so good. Bobbi there is a small park in Holiday that is on a river that empties to the gulf and its just down from the house I was staying at. I would go down there and spent hours watching the storks and all kinds of birds. I went to the library to get a book on birds because your birds are so different than what I have here. I try to do that where ever I go. I even learned what a Crackle was. We don't have them here either.
You all are welcome down here anytime you are in the area. Plenty of room. There is so much wildlife here much more than in New york where I was from. When we first moved here we had red foxes, bobcats, bobwhites but there has been so much building they seem to be disappearing. Every february or so we have all the birds flying back up north from south america, etc. pass thru. We are constantly stopping and picking up gopher turtles crossing roads and putting them back in the grass. People are really into preserving the wildlife here. We also have osprey nests about two miles from here on the waterway. They seem to stay here all year.
Annemarie, if you are going to be on the ship most of time take a warm jacket or coat because it is cold outside on the deck, especially when you are near the glaciers.
ANNE-MARIE-- I was going to let you know what I took on our cruise to give you some idea what works and doesn't, but we went to the Carribean and that is a lot different than Alaska. (What was I thinking?) Just be sure to take some slightly fancy clothes for evening if you like dressing up (don't forget the RED DRESS).
Waiting for breakfast to cook, anyone hungry? I have the red dress. I also got some dress tape to make sure it doesnt "slip" and show too much. I am taking three formal wear and work clothes for evenings and jeans, boots, tennies, for adventures. I bought a raincoat last spring and its warm with a hood so I should be ok.Undies for 11 days and nightwear.
Wanda the hair is a problem I will have to deal with. I'll put a scarf in, good idea. I have long very fine curly hair and it frizzes. I may have to wear it up all the time.
BOBBI-----I looked up a couple of WOOD STORKS---They look beautiful & graceful in flight!!!----SORRY I just had a phone call from daughter in FL & we talk & talk--ho!---enjoy hearing about your many birds!!!
HI ANNE-MARIE----Have been thinking of you & your brother---I pray he is getting better!!!---That has to be hard figuring out what clothes to take----I imagine you will see every thing!!!!----I bet you look good with that "wind blown" look!!----What special tours did you sign up for??---Comfort should probably be #1 except for the formal clothing!!----Maybe I can sneak on board---You will need a valet---ho! HOW MANY MORE DAYS!!!
Bobbi - The Florida Osprey do not migrate from what I have read...no need to, really. Water doesn't freeze, stays fairly warm, should be good fishing all year round for them.
Thanks Norma for remembering my brother. I know, I should be working, but I finished breakfast and I'm waiting for it to settle. Hows that for an excuse? He is being winged from the IV today and maybe home in a few days. I have a hard time believing it until I see it. The hospital called me to pick up my husband and 15 minutes later he was dead. We will see. I know that all of your prayers were the helping hand. I am so grateful and thankful to all of you. I'm not breathing easy yet but I am hopeful. Norma you can come with me anytime.I'll even leave a suitcase empty for you to crawl into. Now thats love...:)
The "LITTLE PRINCE" is in heaven now!!----He is leaned back--- enjoying his 'FRUIT ICE'----& he knows that MOMMA BEAR can't take it away from him!!!----AWESOME!!!!
I'll get the cane to you, Norma - you don't have to worry about 'illegal' then! lol This conversation is so amusing! I think that by the time you are finished packing, Anne, you will need 2 valets! Count me in with Norma.
norma, we live 45 miles above palm beach and 20 miles below vero beach on the east coast. We are where the New Yorks Mets have their farm team so get to see and meet the players during spring training. Love the west coast of florida especially around destin. If I were an eagle or osprey sure wouldn't want to live anywhere else. We also have a lot of sandhill cranes here and if you want to see courtship they are a piece of work. They have a crazy dance they do and the sounds they make can't describe. They are also not afraid of humans.
You guys dont help much. I can get into trouble all by myself with out your help. Your suppose to keep me on the straight and narrow. Both front and back yards water going. Washing in . Drying in, and to the kitchen to do a load. Its a good thing I dont have to pay for water by the use. Ok Jo, you get the third suitcase. Heidi is under the bed. I wonder what she did? Maybe she wants to go.
OK Jim,see how he shows off? LOL. Southern Cal has beautiful weather. Its going to be 102 here today. Its cooling off. Hey Jim at least we have four seasons. 15 minutes of spring and 20 minutes of fall.
I was just taking a quick swing through the cams I have up...
Kent seems done for the season...what do you think? They hung around the nest patiently for quite a while, but once they took off, they were gone! Has anyone read anything about the eaglets on the Kent Forum? (I don't have that link, I don't think)
The Santa Cruz cam is sort of up again, but it looks more like an old rug with strange things moving in it right now...probably low power.
Rain in Sitka, Heidigirl! But the weather is notoriously bad there (or good, if you are a rainbird)..remember WWII? I hope you are headed to more moderate parts of Alaska though.
I just lost my comment Rats.. Jim, I leave from San Francisco, 1st stop Victoria, next Sitka, Juneau and then Ketchican . Then a two day drift home.My daughter keeps Heidi when I wander. She lives about three blocks away. Two of my sons will collect mail and take care of the watering. My grand daughter is staying in the house and feeding the cat. I'm set.
NORMA, i can't believe that you would do something illegal and squeeze inside Anne-Marie's suitcase, which I hope she has finished packing by now. Mayabe she needs to take a trunk.
MITS School wasn't too bad for the first week. We have one student that crys because he has to come in from the playground, the computer lab, etc.(should have waited a year). We have a little girl that throws a fit each time she can't do something. Another girl who is a very obstinate little girl and a boy that I have told that I won't pick him up or drag to wherever he has to be, and he has to be watched as he is always wandering off and hiding under or behind something. So other than that, we finally started out with 18 children and will go into the second week this coming Tuesday, hoping for a better week. :) I am just pooped once I get home at night trying to train the newbys to the ways of big school. Our Kindergarten teacher that went to first grade this year is just smiling away; saying if she knew lst grade would be so much easier than handling K Kids, she would have moved up long ago. Am I mad at her for leaving us to go to first grade, you bet you I am.
We have a much lower group than last year. Some can't write their names, some are still using capital letters, and some just don't want to do anything but play. Other than all of this, being only the first week of school, things are going smoothly. :)
I have been going in at about 6:45 in the morning and getting out between 5:30 and 6:30 each day; no, I only get paid from 7:30 until 3:00pm, but I have to stay with my teacher to get things caught up.
Really, I'll start to enjoy them more when we get through the first month and get them settled down and into being Kindergarteners.
WANDA Did I understand that the Momsters now want to take your Eagle Express to Florida to visit Bobbi? That should be some trip with all drinking eagle talons the whole way down. Since Norma wants to go to Alaska in Anne-Marie's suitcase, maybe we could put her in your trunk.:) That might make room for me to go with you all.
NORMA you can have your WVU game. I am listening to the Caroline Tar Heel versus James Madison U. game and we are leading in the beginning of the second half 30 to 7. I have my UNC shirt on and my UNC flag out, and am using my UNC coasters and will soon be sporting a UNC antennae ball. I just hope we do better in football this year or I am going to look silly.
BTW our PE teacher graduated from WVU. She also likes Duke, so we have a good time ribbing one another.
JO So good to see you on the blog more often and sounding like you feel much better as each day passes. I don't know where we would be without you leading the way on here. You can take as many Panda naps as you want; just keep blogging. :)
JIM You are sending some real good emails. Keep them coming. I hope you arae enjoying not going to work by now. Maybe I'll be in your position by next year; that is if I make it through the little monsters this year. :)
JILL you keep those bad guys straight, but please don't send someone to look in Anne-Marie's luggage. You might find a few of us there.
ROBYN hope you got to the DMV ok, Is Tory settling into school now that she has gone through her first week. I hope so. The first day is always so challenging and new. Also, it is so nice to see your mom on the blog now.
Well, I guess everyone is out for supper. Carolina just scored another touchdown and now I have to go to supper. Hope you all have a peaceful night. Tomorrow brings us a new day.
HELLO CANDY-----WVU WON BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!------GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!------JAMES MADISON isn't too far from ROMNEY-----I'll root for the TAR HEELS!!- Where is your PE teacher from in WV?----That's COOL!!!---We certainly miss you!!!!
Candy I taught Head Start for 4 years. Now you know why I went back to school and got my RN. I'll take lots of pictures if I have room for my camera. I'm bushed. Its time for dinner then maybe I'll get some energy back. BBL
Hi, everybody, Not too much to report as far as the birds go, is there?
Candy, I was reading your reports about the Kindergarten kids, and it made me realize how much it has changed.
There was no "preschool" when I grew up, and I don't know if anybody knew how to read and write in Kindergarten...mostly socializing and finger painting.
I think they deliberately discouraged people from teaching their kids reading and writing before the professionals scheduled it in the First Grade. My mother was a voracious reader and would read to me when I was a kid ... lot of Mark Twain, which I loved...but she made no attempt to teach me earlier.
I don't know which way is better, and kids don't have any control over how and when they are taught anyway, but it sure is different now schedulewise.
I was caught in the Sputnik thing, when all of a sudden, everything Americans had been doing educationally was either wrong or late. And I do recall kind of running out of learning time in High School because of the new changes.
In math we had only gotten to Trig. and Solid Geometry in High School, but immediately in college you should have had AT LEAST one semester of Calculus. That put a lot of people behind the 8 ball.
Just went to the Bonaire cam to see if it was raining on the beach, and there was a msg, that TS Felix had turned into a Cat 1 Hurricane and was passing 100km, north of the island, and they may experience cam problems....
Hi, I happened to be checking the Finnish Osprey nest, it's early morning there now, and I think the fledgling might have migrated...no sign yet, and it must be after 9 a.m. there.
If you get up fairly early, check the nest please.
GOOD SUNDAY MORNING TO YOU ALL-- JIM, I have checked in on Finny several times this morning and have not seen him yet. You may be right about him migrating.
JILL-- My Mother lives down the hill on the right side of th Hospital on Lupton Dr. and Old Mill road. The Tuscarora creek runs through the bottom of her property. I guess that is why she has so much wildlife in her yard. The wildlife from Martins Landing passes by on their way to the convenience store up the road at the filling station (I guess that is where they are going). Sometimes they stop and rest in her yard and that makes me nervous..
Good Morning Wanda Yep! I slept well. Had my coffee and toast and on the computer already. NO sign of Finny - he and his dad were eating pretty darn good last time they were at the nest. I can't remember if I even saw them on Saturday.
Another beautiful day. Hope market goes well for Megan and Paula.
That's right Wanda you told me that. I would be a little nervous with them in the back yard too. Guess they are going to Sheetz? Why not go to the one on Rock Cliff, it would be closer. Guess they haven't figured that out yet.
GOOD MORNING JO-- Good to have you as company this morning. I am about to get ready for church, so I won't be on here much longer. Have a beautiful day.
JILL-- There is a chinese couple that comes into her yard with a backpack and picks her tomatoes and peaches. Don't know if they are from the Landing or not. I have chased them out twice and they stand there and make motions to me and speak in Chinese. I think they are trying to tell me that they mean no harm, just want to reap the harves of my Mother's hard work!

Is Megan at the market today? I got a curt reply from Mr. Mayor of Sherperdstown...guess the vendors are a touchy subject.

Wanda, I have read all the notes from the meetings and talked to vendors. Do you think one of his aides wrote back, or is he that rude?????
Thanks, Mits, I got it. I haven't had a chance to read the meeting notes yet...will brush up for the next meeting...

I think I need to borrow somebodies backyard to get some good bird pics. Any volunteers?
GOOD MORNING BOBBI--
I have been wondering about the Wood Storks. Are they welcome visitors and do you feed them or are they a nusiance?

I'm going to go and get out of this night gown and get some breakfast. Blood sugar is dropping. Back later.

have to go fill up my bird feeders, darn squirrels emptied it out again. Anyone have any ideas how to keep them away other than the obvious. bbl
I have my eagle sweatshirt too. Thanks Paula
BOBBI-----I looked up a couple of WOOD STORKS---They look beautiful & graceful in flight!!!----SORRY I just had a phone call from daughter in FL & we talk & talk--ho!---enjoy hearing about your many birds!!!
Well its off with me for a while. BBL
I am putting a George Strait CD in and I'm getting some work done.
BOBBI---Where do you live in FL?---My youngest with (5 little ones) lives in LARGO---(between TAMPA & ST. PETERSBURG)---
Parent and Chick in CT
Great pic, they both are standing there with a fish <(((())))~~
PAULA--GREAT pic of the CT OSPREYS------Each standing on their FISH & eyeing each other----Thinking MINE--MINE!!!!--
Thanks Norma for remembering my brother.
FINNY is still absent!----
ANNE-MARIE----That isn't LOVE---That's ILLEGAL!!!----But Thank You!!!!!!
Oh come on... Dont you want to be a stowaway ? Dont tell Jill..:)
OK this is it. BBL
The "LITTLE PRINCE" is in heaven now!!----He is leaned back--- enjoying his 'FRUIT ICE'----& he knows that MOMMA BEAR can't take it away from him!!!----AWESOME!!!!
iLLEGAL, BUT FUN!
I'll get the cane to you, Norma - you don't have to worry about 'illegal' then! lol
This conversation is so amusing!
Good morning (PDT), everyone...
I thought I had signed in already this morning before getting sidetracked, but I don't see a comment from me, so....
I WAS opened to this site though.
It's a beautiful day here in So Cal, but it's already 85° and supposed to reach 89°.
How's your day going??
Jim
Did anyone see that Dr. Sharpe has written the Santa Cruz report this week. It's kind of short, but there are a couple of interesting photos.
Jim
Just heard from Nilla she is running around in New York seeing the sights. She seen Statue of Liberty. Been to ground Zero. Right now they are heading for the Holland Tunnel. I think she said she is going to keep her eyes closed lol. Said tell everyone Hi.....
OK Jim,see how he shows off? LOL. Southern Cal has beautiful weather. Its going to be 102 here today. Its cooling off. Hey Jim at least we have four seasons. 15 minutes of spring and 20 minutes of fall.
BTW - The Santa Cruz cam is back up...
Howdy, Dana. Tell Nilla to eat a piece of cheesecake for me!
Its pouring cats and dogs is Sitka . Rain predicted for the next 10 days.

ANY ONE LOOKING FOR THE WVU/W MICH GAME IS ON THE "MASN" CHANNEL ON OUR CABLE!!!!!
GO EEEEEEEEERS !!!!
ANNE-MARIE----I'll keep HEIDIGIRL for you!!!!!!!
Jim
TOUCHDOWN----WV---GO EEEEEEEEEEEEERS!!!!!! 7-0!
I'm set.
BOBBI So glad to see that you are blogging now. You sound like you have a wonderful spot in Florida; all the birds and wildlife./
ANNE-MARIE You just go to Alaska and have the time of your life, but remember to take pics so we can all share in your adventures.
PAULA Congratulations on being a new grandmother, and another boy. I am still waiting for my son to settle down and get married.
HELLO CANDY-----WVU WON BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!------GO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!------JAMES MADISON isn't too far from ROMNEY-----I'll root for the TAR HEELS!!-
Where is your PE teacher from in WV?----That's COOL!!!---We certainly miss you!!!!
Candy I taught Head Start for 4 years. Now you know why I went back to school and got my RN. I'll take lots of pictures if I have room for my camera. I'm bushed. Its time for dinner then maybe I'll get some energy back. BBL
Hay Candy good to see you on here....grandbaby is coming in January,,,just found out yesterday it will be a boy...now onto the names...hmmm...
Hi, everybody,
Not too much to report as far as the birds go, is there?
Jim
All have a good night...off to market tomorrow, will check in later!
GOOD NIGHT ALL....PAULA IF YOU SEE THE MAYOR...TRIP HIM FOR ME:>).

Just went to the Bonaire cam to see if it was raining on the beach, and there was a msg, that TS Felix had turned into a Cat 1 Hurricane and was passing 100km, north of the island, and they may experience cam problems....
Good Night Everyone
Peace to You & Yours

Here's to a sunny Sunday morning coming tomorrow!

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE. HAVE A GREAT LABOR DAY WEEKEND...ENJOY, ENJOY!!
Jim
Just got back from the picnic.
Wanda-I said I wanted to take pictures of wildlife not Martin's landfill leftovers. LOL. Take it you Mom live in or near Autumn Leaf?
Pretty sure searches of suitcases with out probably cause are illegal. That means whoever is in the suitcase has to be still
Hi, I happened to be checking the Finnish Osprey nest, it's early morning there now, and I think the fledgling might have migrated...no sign yet, and it must be after 9 a.m. there.
If you get up fairly early, check the nest please.
Haven't seen Dad this morning either.
Jim
GOOD SUNDAY MORNING TO YOU ALL--
JIM, I have checked in on Finny several times this morning and have not seen him yet. You may be right about him migrating.
JILL--
My Mother lives down the hill on the right side of th Hospital on Lupton Dr. and Old Mill road.
GOOD MORNING JO--
Good to have you as company this morning. I am about to get ready for church, so I won't be on here much longer. Have a beautiful day.
JILL--
There is a chinese couple that comes into her yard with a backpack and picks her tomatoes and peaches. Don't know if they are from the Landing or not. I have chased them out twice and they stand there and make motions to me and speak in Chinese. I think they are trying to tell me that they mean no harm, just want to reap the harves of my Mother's hard work!
Time to get ready for church.
REMEMBER, YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH MORE IN ONE HOUR WITH GOD THAN ONE LIFETIME WITHOUT HIM.
Have a Blessed day.
GOOD SUNDAY A.M. EVERYONE:)
HEY----COME ON OVER---NEW THREAD!!!
GO---EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERS!!!!!!
