Friday Update

We have the cam up at on the NCTC closed circuit system. We still have some technical glitches to deal with and some other work to get the picture online, but we're getting close.

The new cam is framing the nest a bit differently, it seems a bit closer than the old cam.

If I can get a frame shot I'll post it.

Blackwater Open House - October 6th

If you can make it, it's a great time. Suz and I went last year. We had loads of fun, even in the drizzle and cold that day! I hope the weather is better for this year's event!

Jill said...

Squiggles is at the door again. Do you suppose her eyes are starting to open and she can see the light? Or maybe she just senses that mom is outside. Still too cute.

paula eagleholic said...

Jill - they said on the video yesterday they could start to see the eye slits. The eyes are supposed to be open in a couple of weeks.

floralgirl said...

Cool , if you want to do the eagle prowl at BW with Zeeger you better register right away. They fill up fast.

We still have great pics from Paula & Suz when they went last year (in the drizzling rain)

That date is out for me again this year... Soldier boy coming to MD for the weekend. He'll be deployed at end of Oct...again.

Jo, sent you something on the old thread just now about the glaciers

Hi Jo, Just read the blogs and saw your question about glacier bay. That is really something to see. First you have icebergs floating around the boat. Not big but you can see down in the water how deep they go. They are white on top of water and a beautiful blue underneath. When you get to the glacier ship drops anchor for quite awhile. You are pretty close and get to hear and see the glacier calving into the water and hear the sounds it makes. The glacier not all white but a pretty blue green color. It is so quiet and still and then all of a sudden the the calving starts and the sound is loud and if you look carefully you can see when the next one will begin and watch it happen. Anne will love this. Hope she takes lots of pictures I have so many of this area

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the description, Bobbi

Thank you Paula for bringing it over.Didn't know how to do it. Still have a lot to learn.

Now yesterday my son was lifting a table and popped something in his back i begged him to go to hospitol which he was to stubborn to do.. Now he cant walk or has no feeling in his legs.. He is at the hospitol now and waiting news as i am at work... More news my step mother who you remember had the hernia surgery last year under went surgery this morning and is not doing so good they cant get her blood pressure stable... God Bless.

NillaWafer said...

Thanks Friends, Got a phone call from sister and she has stablized and doing alittle better but still touch n go and they are watching her carefully... No news on son yet... Daughter is on a very strong medicne for nerves Zanex?? Hopefully it will make her relax... I think we all now the healing power of prayer on this blog as each has helped each other in 1 way or another.. Especialy Sharon in her times of loss... What a great and loving family this blog is...

Costume Lady said...

Well Nilla, I think we were all placed here on this Blog for a reason. Too enjoy each others company and to be there for times when we need spiritual help and prayer. It was no accident that we all came to this place on the computer.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Sure do wish our cam was up so we could be watching Liberty and Belle in action - with sound!

Sharon are you going to make it to open house? I have a place for you to stay... smiles

Jill said...

NILLA-we will certainly pray for all of your family. I think the drug is Xanex. Great for nerves, will help her sleep. Now don't you take on any more problems for yourself, those 3 are enough for you right now. Sure you know what I am talking about. Will keep my ears open. Joey didn't work last night or tonight. Take care of yourself.

NillaWafer said...

Yes Jill i kow exactly what your talking about and NO i am not dont worry... Well seems son has left City Hospitol with a prescript for Percocet and Flexiril.. Because he has some feeling now in his legs when they pressed on his feet.. they didnt so a cat scan or anything but said something about muscels .. BUT if it worsened to get to a ER... Hey Jill thats the good ol docs at City Hospitol huh... Next trip Winchester you can beleive that!!!

Costume Lady said...

ER here in town is not very efficient.
I believe Flexeril is a muscle relaxer. Should do the trick. If he still doesn't have feeling in legs after at least 2 doses, he should go to Winchester.

Mema Jo said...

Nilla - prayer really does the trick!
At least around on this blog we have proof of it! You and your family will certainly be remembered by me.

My favorite: If He Leads You To It
Then He'll Lead You Through It :)

Mema Jo said...

Well, ANNE made it through the Glacier Bay area and is now headed to Ketchikan - Should dock there tomorrow at 10am AK time.(2pm our time) Just may see her on this dock the way the Port cam is set up...

Jill said...

Hey Nilla. Dr. Ellis is good and they just got a couple of new ones. Other than that forget it. Let poor little Zachary sit in the waiting room for 1 hour with a broken arm. Took a kid in with sniffles before him. Then told me I couldn't be sure it was broken. Yeah, that bone trying to push through his skin was perfectly normal. It's a wonder I am even allowed in the ER anymore. Good thing they switch employees faster than my kids need Drs. LOL. Hope your son feels much better by morning.

Jill said...

Nilla-if you are still here go check the jail website. The girl I told you about is in there. Guess she pled guilty.

NillaWafer said...

Oh Jill you have such a wonderful way with words...laughing... He heard something pop in his back when it happened... Now the only way he can walk is with the help of walker , because he can not stand any pressure on his legs... No wonder City is sued out the ying yang!!!

NillaWafer said...

Ok i checked Jill i dont know if thats the one who brought her or not they didnt get out of the car. But that woman named Harrell-Cook looks like a teacher with her glasses..lol Full house this weekend out there i guess...lol

Jill said...

It sort of looks like the one who picked her up there other night but I didn't get a good luck. Definately with her Sunday tho.

Jill said...

Yes Nilla full house. Told me to take it easy, they were starting to stack them up in holding. My answer, start putting bed in the cafeteria cause I am in a bad mood.

NillaWafer said...

Jo do you see something in the water beside the boat? Black i was thinking Porpis or whale???

NillaWafer said...

Hahahahaha and the night is young Jill.. All the weekenders reporting to... Dont see those black things now in the water Jo the water looks so calm...

Costume Lady said...

NILLA--I saw the black object too.
Wouldn't it be exciting if we saw a whale?

Costume Lady said...

There it is again; getting closer to the ship.

MITS said...

I saw the same thing this a.m., now seeing them again.

Mema Jo said...

Just got back on.....which bridge cam sight are you two watching

NillaWafer said...

Yup Wanda but i dont see it any more and the water is so calm .. I was really hoping while they cruised the Bay to see a whale breach or something jump... Its dark over where Iris is been looking at all the other ships at Sea also...

NillaWafer said...

http://www.princess.com/bridgecams/dawn_bridge_cam.html this is what i am watching of course all on 1 line

Costume Lady said...

I wonder if those are Glaciers in the distance....

NillaWafer said...

I cant tell Wanda there are some water drops on the camera lens now and ripples in the water...

MITS said...

time and date have changed because they are going by GMT time and not Alaskan time.

NillaWafer said...

Mits i want you to know i had to google GMT time to see what it was...lol Greenwich Mean Time atleast thats what it said it is???

NillaWafer said...

Hmmm i guess it doesnt get dark up there neither??? but for alittle while?

I'm sorry, I just assumed everyone knew it was Greenwich time, not sure how that relates to Anne's time, but I believe the wise woman knew that Anne is on Alaskan time:).

NillaWafer said...

Hahaha Thanks Jo now i am more confused than ever... Ann will be back and i will be just s lost as ever... Just Kiddin ..

NillaWafer said...

well i was thinking it is going on 2AM in the morning and she should be in bed sleeping..lol LOL who cares as long as she is safe and sound and having fun... Mits never assume anything when it comes to me ya know that..lol

MITS said...

Jo, I wonder if Anne's ship, will be where that big one was this a.m......Nilla, just think west, she started out in Calif, then went a little west of where she was:).

Mema Jo said...

I am so hoping that they come off right at that pier rather then use the Tender boats...Wouldn't that be great... It is the only port cam I can find for there. lol Just thinking that you and I are maybe the only ones that know what Anne looks like! I guess we could fool everyone about seeing her... but that would not be nice!!!

Mema Jo said...

Don't worry WANDA I would not fool you! Promise!
Is it raining in Martinsburg? Still raining here in Middletown.

MITS said...

I can see Anne now, coming down the gangplank, on the arms of 2 handsome man....she is very nice looking.

MITS said...

I really do like the earth-cam one. I watch there different cams all over the world

NillaWafer said...

Well now Mits i am confused Lord if she left CALI and went to Alaska wouldnt that be going North?? Maybe she got her and i a couple of those mountain men..lol

NillaWafer said...

Jo it is raining here just a little nothing much to speak of ...

Costume Lady said...

Nilla's got wax.

Mema Jo said...

I also like the EarthCam one.Good info all in one place......even the correct time & date! Have you played around with the 3 different tabs above the screen. Now that is cool...

Which one do you watch for the Bridge Cam?

MITS said...

SHE WENT NORTH-WEST:):):)

Costume Lady said...

Just a soft rain is falling, JO.

Wasn't Iris supposed to board her ship today?

Mema Jo said...

NillaWafer said...

The Regal Princess is anchored off Moorea,French Polynesis beautiful water and sail boat..

MITS said...

No I haven't, Jo, I'll go look.

Mema Jo said...

Wanda I thought at 3:00 Iris was boarding ship. However; when I look at the bridge cam for the Norwegian Jewell - it is still docked.

MITS said...

That was neat, alot of big ships come in there and dock.

Robyn said...

Good evening Ladies, where is the Jewel docked?

NillaWafer said...

Okie Dokie Jo got it... Yup Iris boat is docked and its still dark there...

NillaWafer said...

The way i figure it is these ships move like aconveyer belt just moving from one place to another and one after another on a continues circle? And from what have seen on tv and read the ship pretty much steer themselves...

Robyn said...

They don't feel like they move fast and the part I found interesting and Tori disliked is when they tell you the depth beneath you lol

Mema Jo said...

So hopefully tomorrow the Princess Dawn will come in there & dock at
10am AK time (2pm Picnic time for me)

Will you take some pictures.. Icons below cam..I can't figure out how to email image down at the bottom of the cam... and you just can't right click and take a picture...

NillaWafer said...

If you look over to the left and at the Industry section they have a man over board list... Yes and the ships and names of people who have went over board...

Mema Jo said...

Hy Robyn........ I would be like Tori!! lol

Robyn said...

her comment was,"I didn't need to know that!"

NillaWafer said...

HAHAHAHAHA NOW THIS IS INTERESTING READING:Notes: While falling from a cruise ship is a rare occurrence, a quick review of the Cruise News archives reveals that:

Males are much more likely to go overboard than females

Carnival passengers (16 incidents) are more likely to go overboard than passengers from other cruise lines...especially passengers on the Carnival Conquest

The average age of a passenger who goes overboard is 40 years

You are most likely to fall overboard on the last night of your cruise

For some reason, people from California and Florida go overboard more than others

Falling overboard does not necessarily mean you will die (8 people have been rescued, one after 18 hours in the water)

Most people who fall overboard are either drunk or doing silly things (climbing on the railing or between cabin balconies)

Mema Jo said...

Nilla I have no clue where you are looking at that list... See anyone's name you know or knew???

Mema Jo said...

OUR CAM STILL IS BLUE

BUT HAS CORRECT DATE & TIME!

NillaWafer said...

Jo on this page:

http://www.cruiseserver.net/travelpage/other/ship_cams.asp

over on left side a list of interesting things

Mema Jo said...

I see that they must have taken the
Carnival Conquest off the seas. No CAM anymore! lol

Nilla, I have no clue as to Iris' itinerary. Can't look up her cruise schedule because once it embarked - it no longer is published. I assume that Glo knows it. The Norwegian line doesn't have the headline on the bridge cam as to where it is or where it is headed.

NillaWafer said...

Let me check i found a place where you can track ships and where they are located at all times.. If only i can remember where it is now..lol

Robyn said...

it is somewhere on cruise addicts Nilla

NillaWafer said...

I cant find the site i found .. Well time to head home.. Hope everyone has a great weekend and stay safe...

NillaWafer said...

Yes Robyn i think so check there
... on alist on the left hand side i beleive...

Costume Lady said...

JO--I tried to email you a photo of the Princess Dawn and the black object in the water, but My server won't let me do it. I tried to do it several different ways, but no luck.

Robyn said...

Mema Jo said...

I guess we'll learn from Anne as to what it was. I would love for her to have seen a whale!

movin said...

Actually, Paula, I think GMT means Greenwich (Gren-itch) Mean Time.

Greenwich is a town in England which is on 0° of Longitude, so it is used as a world standard Zero point to calculate regional times from.

Should look both GMT and IDL up in Wikipedia...maybe tomorrow.

The Date Line is out in the middle of the Pacific. When you cross it from the States you go from 11:59:59 PM one day to 00:00:01 AM the next day.

Check it out, I think that's right.

Jim

movin said...

GOOD MORNING, EAGLE PEOPLE...

I see it has rained at BW, and there is a male Eagle on the nest...looks like half of the pair from last week.

I really want to be sleeping, because if I've kicked my cold enough, I'm going to a H.S. Reunion today down San Diego way...actually at the Del Mar Racetrack/County Fairgrounds.

I'm feeling pretty well now, but I need the rest...of course I've been wide-eyed for at least an hour.

Jim

The eagle has gone and a female Osprey is there now.

Jim

movin said...

Bai Yun and baby girl are sleeping comfortably side-by-side.

I like the infra red cam better in one way...I can usually pick out which end is which of the bear and which way she's twisted, and I can see the baby faster. Don't know why that is.

The Osprey appears to have some fish in her crop, so she will probably stay a while.

Good Saurday morning, everyone! Feels like fall out here. Remember to keep your eyes to the sky, with the migration of many birds starting, a wonderful breeze, and a storm in the air. so far today I have seen 3 hawks, and 2 bald eagles flying over my yard. The eagles were very low and appeared to be down by the creek in our development. We watched them dive and soar for 5 minutes before they dsapeared. They were both adults, and were flying together. COOL!!!!

Good Sat morning all. Off for coffee and dog treats soon. Yesterday proved to be one of the most exciting days in my life in more ways than one, MTBR at some point soon I think.

Iris's Ship remains at the dock in Istanbul and now has another ship facing directly at hers. I think we will see movement in one or both of those ships today. I have never been on a cruise. I would imagine it is possible to board a ship and stay docked on board for any period of time that the ship stays there. Unless there is a problem on the ship my guess is last night was spent in the cabin on the ship. the evening was spent eating their food, watching their shows and perhaps seeing videos or some such of all the places they will actualy spend time in the next 14 days. JMHO...My info says she will be in Ephesus tomorrow.
