Oh, those pics are too funny! Man, Lib and Belle are serious about their nestorations this year! Hammer in nest, hope Lib doesn't make Belle too mad over which branch is gonna go where. Too funny!
OK, so this is home for the day. I'll repeat what I put on the other thread. I met Nu at the Shepherdstown Market last Sunday. Nice guy. I told him they got a new camera, but I don't think he knew he was putting it up yet!
Mits, click where Steven says there are more pictures here at the beginning of this thread. You will see the pics of the cam installation. AT the top of that page, click on eaglepicturewinter2006, shows you pics of L&B in the nest.
Time for me to hit the road. Wow, what an exciting time! Those pictures are beautiful, but man, scary! That's waaaay up there! Thanks for the pics!! All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
WOW!!----UNBELIEVABLE!!!---I FEEL I HAVE DIED & GONE TO EAGLE HEAVEN!!!---THIS IS TOO COOL!!!--THANKS STEVEN---TODD---MIKE, et al-----WE LOVE YOU!!!----
Mei is asleep above the hammock, looks like she got some kind of new toy, but I can't tel what it is. Looks almost like a blanke laying in the hammock.
Great photos! Wonder what kind of cam that is -- looks a bit like our brand.
Seeing the campus photo brings back nice memories. A couple years ago, I got a Friends grant that allowed me to take a FWS Internet Developers class at the NCTC. The class lasted four days, so I was able to stay in one of the lodges. I had such a great time.
NCTC is a beautiful facility -- I really envy the FWS employees who get to go there on a regular basis.
She looks bored to me, let's get this party started before she goes back to sleep. I think the keepers are all out celebrating and forgot her. Poor Baby.
Happy Birthday, Mei Lan! Thursday, September 6 at 11 a.m. Today’s the day! Mei Lan turns 1, and you’re invited to the birthday party! Guests enjoy cake and the birthday girl snacks on celebratory treats! Keepers stop by for Q & A at 10:30 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.
Whilst clicking around on the front page of the blog to see if there are any more pics (like nestcam shots), I opened "FWS website" and found some pretty interesting articles, which you might like to read.
I so very much have to add my Thank You to Steve and any one else involved in getting the cam up the tree. Added thanks for taking and sharing photos with us. Have been at a Staff Meeting all morning but in my heart I very much wondered what was happening at that special tree at NCTC. Now I know. Thanks again so very much.
Just returned from my eye exam and WOW What do I see! How beautiful it that Steve Mike Todd Nu Scott and all FWS persons THANK YOU !!
If I had a hammer I'd hammer in the morning I'd hammer in the evening All over this land I'd hammer out danger I'd hammer out a warning I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters All over this land
Been most of day in Winchester getting my discharge for my knee surgery.
Glad you all have been talking about things. I read and enjoyed.
Most exciting for me is the CAM !! Thanks Steven, Mike, 2 other guys from NCTC. Then also the tree crew thank you.
I got to tell you all that "hammer" in the nest worries me. Remember we were going to take either Jo or Norma and slingshot them into the nest. Maybe when we over shot them one of them had a hammer and it landed there. Or so the story might go: Belle started out getting Liberty by dropping branches each on bigger than the other. So maybe this year she dropped a hammer for him to catch. lol
Ahh an immature eagle wonder who it could be... ( :
Holy Cowwww i am jumpin for joyyyyyyyy seeing those pictures!!!!!!!!!!!! Howdy Folks i am so happy to be back in the real world of trees and grass and no tall buildings!!!! The trip was abust.. they didnt stay and are living with me right now.. They both got jobs at a Latino store here and things are working out great!!!! Although we did go to Ground Zero very emotional and took pictures which i will get on here soon...We made the best of a bad situation and i held on for dear life when going thru traffic...lol So the nest is looking great and hearing Lib n Belle are around exciting and even more that a youngin was around also!!! I will be back going to check on Buta Buta .. Oh Jill Tonna is going to stay with me a few weeks also, she called last night and said grandmaw can i stay with you alittle while and of course i could not say no, BUT i will set ground rules and yes she is working at Wild Wings... BBL
DC panda cam 2 is interesting Mei and Tian playing on the wire cages near the outside.... Now they are inside... now they disappeared but I can hear them.........
Hi GloBug!!! And thanks Paula yes i am very happy that even thou things were so hard this weekend it has all become so much better all the way around... Oh i saw those beautiful pictures of Lib & Belle and just shed a tear they are so bonito--beautiful in spanish... haha i am learning alot of Spanish...(HOPE THAT RIGHT ANY WAYS)
Welcome back Nilla...I too think you sound much happier. Tis a tough way to love a baby and have it be really far away form you. They change so fast and can't even really call you on the phone and chatter at you. Hope you are feeling well enough too.
Hey Dana nope didnt get stuck but stopping afew times was enough for me... I had head down and eyes closed most of the time.. Oh and then when we were getting on the NJ turnpike John got on with the truck well we were 2 lanes over and i was 1/2 out the window stopping traffic to get over..lol Lord knows where i be if we could not get on that ramp!! lol Glo your right we took Diana to doctors yesterday and she weighs 14.4lbs and i had Jasmin yesterday and she weighs almost 11 lbs they are both doing great....
Great Nilla. Glad everything seems to be working out but I hope you have a really big house. Joey said Tonna was working the other night. Strange because I didn't ask him. Usually getting info from him is like pulling teeth. I am going there for dinner tonight, I will see if I see her.
I just happened to click on the SD Panda cam a second time, and it took me to the main site with multiple cams.
Some of them like Del Mar Beach is very familiar to me. It used to have a floating, wood pier like the Scripps Pier (La Jolla) on another cam, and it originally stretched out far enough for ships to unload people bound for a stay at The Hotel Del Mar.
I don't recall it that far back, but it was still sizable when I was a kid, and the Hotel (a lot of Movie stars used to stay there, especially during the Del Mar Racing Season) was still going strong. Neither is there now.
The pier remained usable for many years, even though it would lose sections from time to time from heavy, storm surf; but, finally it became too damaged and too dangerous, so it was dynamited and cleared away.
If you have time, take a look at some of the other cams on that site...there's a Scripps kelp cam, which will give you a little idea of what it was like to spear fish and abolone dive near the La Jolla cliffs perhaps a couple of miles SW of this cam. Similar fish, but there are reefs where we went and the kelp was heavier, the fish better camouflaged.
I believe the area we used was over-fished by professional abalone divers later (like many areas), but now it is a National Marine Park. You probably can't take fish OR abalone now.
Yes, Jim -- I think it was a kestrel too. We've seen them visiting before -- in different seasons -- on the platform.
Regarding eagle migration: Our resident eagles don't migrate. They stay in the Chesapeake Bay area throughout the year, just moving around when they're not breeding. As winter approaches, we do get migrating eagles that are coming down from the northern states, and during the summer we might get some immature eagles visiting from Florida. They tend to migrate north to avoid the intense heat during the summer months.
I'm not sure why the eagles haven't been back on the platform. But it does look like the resident ospreys really are gone.
Paula - I was out your way today - Met some previous work gals over at Panera's on Rt 26. I'll have to meet you one day for lunch - Today was the first time I have driven for 5 weeks!! I'm free (sorta)
Thanks for the great info on Kestrels and migrating eagles in the Black Water Reserve, Lisa.
Paula, I saw the bird in the corner also, but I thought it was a sparrow or something looking for fish scraps. I guess it probably was looking for something...they eat insects as well as rodents and small birds. I remember seeing Kestrels (Sparrow Hawks around my place) frequently, near our place in Del Mar Terrace. They love telephone wires, or even barb-wire fences (or posts) for hunting perches. And we would often see them facing into the Pacific breeze, hovering over the grass watching for mice or whatever below. I always liked them especially because of their color and interesting habits.
I checked the Panda site for the examination video, but I found only the text report so far, Mema Jo...I'll look again. I'd like to hazard a guess on the sex of the little fella (ette), but I don't know anything about Panda young. Gotta wait another week like everybody else.
Good morning, eagle world. And good morning Jill, Jill, and Jill. Sometimes those blogger gremlins get up early! And I hope you're in bed too, as are most normal people in this area at this time of day. Beautiful night out, sliver of a moon, coming up orange, but getting whiter. Gonna be a warm one, had my seranade all the way down, and it was 77° at home, but only 74° here. Bit backwards. Few deer, 2 cats, no cops that I could see, very uneventful ride down. AND BAI IS NURSING SQUIGGLES! I'm so glad to see the pic back! Missed those guys yesterday. Want to go back and look at the cam installation pics again, they're great! And of course, our Lib and Belle this past winter hanging out at home. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly! Oh, Bai isn't gonna make it, she's going down for the count. No, she's sitting up again. Seems she can't get Squiggles situated.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BAI YUN HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
Bai is sweet 16 today! What a great mommie! And both mommie and baby are sleeping, baby laying on one of Bai's arms, using the other arm as a pillow. Bai is moving her left leg and foot around, too cute. Anyway, Happy Birthday Good Mommie!
Well, 2nd Fin osprey cam is stuck on yesterday, fish is updating there, but not sure about the marina. Bai and Squiggles are asleep, BW MT, hope the eagles make an appearance, or maybe the Kestral that was there yesterday. No falcon in PA, and Bonaire fish cam is still down. Bummer. BBL
Candy, if you come on shortly, Happy Friday to you! Hope this 2nd week was better for you with the kids! But you have 2 days to recuperate before it all starts again. Have a great weekend.
GOOD MORNING SUZANNE AND ALL YOUR EARLY BIRDS IN THE PJ CLUB. Boy have I sure missed a lot on here. I'll have to catch up on my mail and blogs tonight. Hat PTA last night so never got on, and had no time at school yesterday/
Very interesting pics of our new cam being put up AND OUR TWO EAGLES ARE FLYING AROUND THE NEST AND STARTING NESTORATIONS. I am sooooo excited. Yaaahooooooo! Kids will shortly be coming in, but wanted to say Hi to you all and let you all know that I still care about you and am still plodding along in school.
Marek, our Polish kid, went home yesterday for how long we don't know. Soooooo the computer is mine anytime of the day. :)
All keep blogging so I can catch up and you all have a GREAT DAY!
Candy, sure glad you can finally access your computer anytime you want! Isn't that nice? Hope your houseguest works things out with his girlfriend, if that's what he wants to do, but in the meantime, enjoy your freedom!
Haven't visited cams this morning, kinda overslept and had to drive Tori to school as the bus pulled up as I took off to get her. LOve the fact school is 3 miles away compared to her last one which was 10 and had no bus service.
Looks like a nice day, need to mow and weed later but school comes first and a ittle procrastination.
No Wanda yet?
Thanks Suz, got a 94.10 brng my GPA back up, but still on the Dean's List
Hey Suzanne, going to try the sleep thing again. Been up with you most of the morning. LOL
Hello Everybody else.
Robyn, I am so tired I am sitting here trying to figure out how it could only be 3 miles to Hedgesville from your house, thinking Tori was in HS. DUH. She's at Spring Mills right? Need sleep really really bad.
Jill you need to rest your mind, I notice you have been here several times this week late at night. Yes, Tori starts HS next year, her best friend goes to Hedgesville Middle all they talk about is sleeping over each others homes next year so they can take the bus together. I keep reminding her to get through this year first lol.
Yeah, poor Jill. I'm getting to the point where I look for her when I logon! Nobody else is up at that hour but Jill! I have horrible hours, but at least they're consistent! Glad Tori's doing so much better, Robyn. This year will fly by, then she'll be tons better and can do sleepovers and stuff. That will be fun for her.
She has been doing sleepovers since we returned from vacation. She is having a sleepover tonight and going to one tomorrow. Her best friend is having her 13th b'day here so she can have a pool party. I am closing the pool next weekend.
Sounds like a good time, Robyn, and definately sounds like she's improving! Always depressing to close the pool, isn't it? Means snow isn't that far off. UGH, that's an ugly thought!
Oh no Suz, I am ready to close the pool, somtimes it can be ust too much work tending to it. I am ready for the fall. Already planning my halloween party.
Oh ok. I like fall too, I like decorating! I try to undecorate everything and put everything away for the summer...less to clean, so more time to be outside. Not that it mattered this year, but it will again. But I always like getting my fall decorations out.
Good grief, I'm losing it. Robyn, I saw your comment to Jill about resting your mind, but I did not see Jill's comment right above that. Thought you were talking to her from her early comment before I got on. I'm going blind! Jill, sorry, I did not see your comment. I think I need some sleep too, more than I thought I did! I hope you get some sleep, Jill!

The moths are finally off the cam in Brisbane, and you can see Frieda! First time all day without the fuzzy moths blocking part or all of her.
Think Lib and Belle would consider selling that Million Dollar view they have?
Time for me to hit the road. Wow, what an exciting time! Those pictures are beautiful, but man, scary! That's waaaay up there! Thanks for the pics!!

Yea, when's the par-tay start in Atlanta?
I'd hammer all day long:)
Paula, I thought it was 11 but haven't seen anything yet.
I'd like to hammer the guy that put that stupid pop up message on the Atlanta site every 5 minutes.
Lil birdie at BW
Great photos! Wonder what kind of cam that is -- looks a bit like our brand.
Seeing the campus photo brings back nice memories. A couple years ago, I got a Friends grant that allowed me to take a FWS Internet Developers class at the NCTC. The class lasted four days, so I was able to stay in one of the lodges. I had such a great time.
NCTC is a beautiful facility -- I really envy the FWS employees who get to go there on a regular basis.
Lisa - If you email Steve, I'm sure he would be happy to answer your question!
I hope it is as reliable as your cam!
Hi, Lisa, hope the cam works as good as yours...NCTC is a beautiful place and their food at the big lodge is great.
Yes, maybe I will email him. I always like to know what types of cams other people are using.
Regarding the NCTC food: Yes, the food was wonderful. I wish my workplace had a cafeteria like that.
ya'll are too funny. Thank you Stephen for the new cam I have yet to see the pics as I just got back online.
Wonderful news to return home to.
Kudos to the Stephen and the tree crew
errr Steven
WOW!! awesome view of the nest!
I would love to go up in that bucket:).
They finally put a note on the SD site.
Panda Cam is currently experiencing technical difficulties.
We hope to have it restored shortly.
Mei is wide awake..time to serve the cake!
Did Mei get some treats?
Carol/Anybody: Where is the migration spot at Mt. Storm. Seneca Rocks crew wants to go up there.
Apparently she's not getting a cake! :(
I didn't see anything new. Mei has been asleep until just a bit ago. I have been checking about every 15 minutes. I am sure others are checking too.
Buta is awake and playing in the hammock
That fast and she is gone.
Now she is playing with her new ball. Trying to sit on it. Can't quite figure out how tho.
playing with a pink ball
Mits whats that in the hammock. Looks like a blanket but it is really stiff
I'm not seeing the hammock now, but looks like a block of ice from her cake on the floor.
Tooooo funny, she is rolling all around the ice and having a ball.
She thinks she can eat bamboo....
I know you're gone Suzanne, but have a good day...great descriptions.
I went back to the earlier comments this morning...thanks, Floral Girl. I'll try that approach to the automated systems.
IS EVERYBODY HAPPY?? WHERE'S THE LIVE FEED?? WHERE DO I CLICK??
JIM
I give up. When did the cake show up? I missed it. Was gone like 5 mintues.
By the way, did you read the "Catalina Report" yet? Steff reports some good and some bad news, and there are some good photos.
Jim
Oh,YAY! thanks for the cool pics, Steven!!
Whilst clicking around on the front page of the blog to see if there are any more pics (like nestcam shots), I opened "FWS website" and found some pretty interesting articles, which you might like to read.
Jim
New birthday update on Atlanta panda page.....Jim, NCTC is not broadcasting on the cam yet, just put the cam up early this a.m.
What? I missed the cake! Waaa..
It was there, Paula, a mint scented ice block:)
Paula How did we miss the cake. Snuck that bugger in when we looked away for a second I guess.
Just returned from my eye exam and
WOW What do I see!
How beautiful it that
Steve Mike Todd Nu Scott and all FWS persons THANK YOU !!
If I had a hammer
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters
All over this land
How remarkable that a hammer is in the nest!
Guess Belle really wants help with the nestorations this year
Do you think that they removed it from the nest?
I think the hammer belonged to the tree guy...Can you tell us Steve? Or did L & B bring it in for nestorations?
Where is Spunky..????
I can dream, can't I..????
Who could say it is not Spunky Jo. Your guess is as good as anyones and I'll 2nd that name lol
The hammer was put there to get an ideal of the size of the nest.
I wrote Steve and ask him about the hammer. Sorry it wasn't Liberty or Belle.
Steve said: Nu, the climber for Valley Tree put the hammer there so we could gauge the size of the nest.
So now we know if Belle gets mad at Liberty it's not there she can't "knock him over the head" during a arugement. hee hee
LOL Steven great minds think alike. lol
Steve - so how long of a handle did the hammer have? lol
Could not resist asking that one...
Squiggles is in full view
Neat pic of her ty Jo
NFL Football season starts tonight.
Happy will be for some
Sad it will be for others
I hope they have birthday pictures on Mei Lan's site tomorrow.

OH Man now I should go back and edit my hammer story. I like my version better though LOL.
Thanks for the clarification Steve, that was my initial thought.
Nilla - sorry NY didn't work out for them, but you sound happier anyhow :)
Is it Friday yet?
Hi GloBug!!! And thanks Paula yes i am very happy that even thou things were so hard this weekend it has all become so much better all the way around... Aww,,,Momma and baby in SD are back on, snoozing side by side...
Haven't seen the eagles on the Osprey nest lately. Have you??
I wonder if they were stopping over on their migration trip, resting and feeding.
Jim
Could be, Jim. Haven't seen a one today...
Might BBL
Great Nilla. Glad everything seems to be working out but I hope you have a really big house. Joey said Tonna was working the other night. Strange because I didn't ask him. Usually getting info from him is like pulling teeth. I am going there for dinner tonight, I will see if I see her.
How old is Dianna again? I forget.
I just happened to click on the SD Panda cam a second time, and it took me to the main site with multiple cams.

Jim
It seems the wrong time of year, but I think there might be a small bird trying to nest in the far right corner of the BW Osprey nest.
I've seen the bird 2-3 times today, and there is some fuzzy material in that corner, which I don't believe was there before.
Jim
The bird is back for the 6th time, and it's on the near side of the box.
It took a while, but I think I have I.D.'d it as a Kestrel.
I think I will send you a pic.
Jim
MAINE NEST is back on-line after being hit by lightning. but no eagles
I'm not sure why the eagles haven't been back on the platform. But it does look like the resident ospreys really are gone.
I snapped some pics of it earlier too. It was on the far right corner for awhile.
Today was Squiggles' third veterinary check
Sex still unknown
WHAT? They still don't know Squiggles gender? I think we ought to send Mits and Jill to SD and let them straighten those panda keepers and vets. out!
There is a video of today's exam.
Check your email Wanda
I went over to the IWS Discussion Forum after Jim's comment:
...By the way, did you read the "Catalina Report" yet? Steff reports some good and some bad news, and there are some good photos. Jim
K71 was found dead by Steph. All the others have been tracked and should be ok.
Thanks for the heads up Jo. I wish they would show more of the cub in those videos! :(
The interviews aren't that great.. More Cub - I agree!
Steph's golden eagle is beautiful!
Paula - I was out your way today - Met some previous work gals over at Panera's on Rt 26. I'll have to meet you one day for lunch - Today was the first time I have driven for 5 weeks!!
I'm free (sorta)
HOOORRAAYYY! Jo drove her car today. That is always a good sign when you start driving again.
Were you nervous? Felt good didn't it?
I'm free most any day for lunch Jo - we need to do that!
I love Panera's too!
It sure did feel good. You're right about that.
Glad you made it out on your own today!
I AM GOING TO CALL IT A NIGHT.
Have to get up at the crack of dawn and start my Mother's Yard Sale.
JO--I trust you will still get a good night's rest even if you can drive now. You still have a way to go yet. Take care of yourself.
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE---
Glad your back NILLA.
Howdy Wanda!
Yea, that's a shame about K71. They're not sure what happened to him. He was one of the eaglets that hatched naturally.
strange that K63 was also hatched naturally...... Maybe we just aren't there yet?
If you want to view the 3rd exam go to the SD site, click on the panda, and in the fine print click on the
Exam Videos.........
Still no sex yet, huh....HMMM, think they need a second opinion. 50-50 chance it is one or the other:).
Yep! I think it is a little girl, too! You're Funny!!
I think that I am going to start getting ready to hit the hay!!!
Talk to you all tomorrow.........
Good Night
Pleasant Dreams & Peaceful Sleep
It is FRIDAY already
Yea, Jo, but A63 was on Santa Cruz and K71 was on Catalina. It was a big deal for him to hatch naturally on Catalina.
Well, she has had one boy and two girls...
GOOD NIGHT, EVERYBODY IN EAGLE LAND/GOOD MORNING AND TGIF MAÑANA.
JIM
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE:)
Did somebody say Panera???????? I am there LOL
Mits, I think they are sending us to SD to straighten them out. Think we better take the cane with us. LOL
Personally I think that guy needs to go back to vet school. He doesn't seem sure of anything. Wonder if he has ever looked at a panda before?????????
Morning Suzanne, hope I am not here when you get here.
Morning Suzanne, hope I am not here when you get here.
Morning Suzanne, hope I am not here when you get here.
Sorry about that. it would let me send it but apparently it was sending it. BLOGGER BUGGERS
Hi Suzanne, guess you not on yet. Going to bed again. Hopefully for awhile this time.
Ok, both situated now, Bai going back to sleep while Squiggles nurses. Awwww, Bai is also petting her back, too cute!
Oh, before I forget, very important
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BAI YUN
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
Bai is sweet 16 today! What a great mommie!
And both mommie and baby are sleeping, baby laying on one of Bai's arms, using the other arm as a pillow. Bai is moving her left leg and foot around, too cute. Anyway, Happy Birthday Good Mommie!
Just brought up Frieda...no moths, how nice. Clear pic of her.
Took Bai a while to get settled, but they are both sleeping now.
Bummer.
BBL
Feeding, then snoozing time in San Diego. Bai is on her back, Squiggles is still nursing, way too cute!
Read the blogs from Wed yesterday, and Congrats to Robyn for pulling an A first half of her semester! That's awesome!
YOU GO, GIRL!!!
Morning Suz, Candy... TGIF
That's great, Robyn! I'm sure your thrilled to be on the Dean's List, that's just awesome with everything you've got going on now!
No, no Wanda yet...maybe she's sleeping in on a Friday. I'd kinda like to try that too, but there is always Saturday...get to sleep in then. Sorta.
Oh, my first Ewwwwiiieee in BW this year.
Bai just did a big rollover in her sleep.
Donkeys are getting out and about in the sun. Love watching them, Robyn, thanks for the link!
Wow, look at all the donkeys! Looks like they have more, or is it just me???
Oh no Suz, I am ready to close the pool, somtimes it can be ust too much work tending to it. I am ready for the fall. Already planning my halloween party.
I enjoy the pier cam Suz, I like to ee he different fishies lol. There is the occassional diver and swimmer
Oh ok. I like fall too, I like decorating! I try to undecorate everything and put everything away for the summer...less to clean, so more time to be outside. Not that it mattered this year, but it will again. But I always like getting my fall decorations out.
Yes, the fish are pretty. I've never seen a diver there. Looks like a gar is there now.
Feeding time for the donkeys.
Ewwie still hanging out at BW.
Ewwie just left. Maybe we'll get an eagle visitor now!
Oh, Robyn, there is a diver on Bonaire Reef Cam!
Robyn, sent you a pic.
Good Morning
COME ON OVER
TO THE NEW EXCITING
THREAD FROM STEVE
I miss diving, the last time I officially went diving was in Martinique then afterwards I took my stress rescue course, that was early 90's.
