Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Did you see our babies this morning? TWO visits today!
Thanks for the heads up, Wanda.
Man, Jo will have a lot of pics to make a really nice slide show of the nestorations! Ok, sleepy head, rise and shine, pics are waiting!
Megan, you guys got a lot of rain? I head the thunder and lightening when I went to bed, and the rain started, but sure didn't amount to much. Streets could almost be considered wet this morning...in spots. I'm glad you got some, though. Good morning! Did you get to see Lib and Belle?
From what the news mentoned last night we got up to 1 inch of rain. Possibly more coming today.
OK Tori's test, seems her class was doing a review of last years work the first 6 weeks and they are stepping up to the next level of pre algebra which she didn't have last year. The guidance conselor said she did excellent on the comprehension area of the test and that they will keep her where she is as an enhancement and look into her abilities next year when she heads off to High School. Suffice to say, Tori is happy as she gets to remain with the schedule she has had. She is holding steady A's. Yes I am a proud MOM :)
Robyn, sounds like Tori did well, but she's happy to remain with her schedule. That's a good thing! Yup, bet you are a proud momma! I saw the Bonaire cams, with they would fix the reef cams! The donkey cam is working well, think that's the only one. Have the other fish cam up, and it's down too! You guys sure got a lot of rain! Wish we would get some just a tad north of you all! Maybe later this afternoon we'll get some. One can only hope! That lil Squiggles hasn't moved, and here comes mom!
By the way--I told the "Ladies of the Night" and now will tell the "Ladies of the Morning"....My shop opens up for the Season on Monday and will stay open until Oct.31. I will not be on here very often, so if you don't hear from me in a while, PLEASE don't think I am AWOL and throw me out of the PJ Club.
Must be a keeper nearby. Door just opened, and got light in Bai's den. She grabbed Squiggles and is holding her tightly. Lib and Belle are both doing nestorations!
Had to go to the bus stop, phone calls, etc. Wanda, I'm still looking for help, I would love it if you put a sign up. I'll send you the info. Gotta run, off to work fo the man..LOL-
I think it is time just to sit and enjoy watching these nestorations - I need a new way to display pics. It is a beautiful sight here in EagleLand - Lib & Belle made it thru the storm but are making sure their nest is in tact.
Suzanne I was coming into PA yesterday evening with family when that storm broke lose! Did you sleep thru it? I need to check earlier thread and my emails....
GOOD MORNIN' EAGLE BUDDIES!!---WOW! STEVEN!!---You certainly know how to get us up & movin'----SINCE YOU BLESSED US WITH THE NEW CAM!---I think some of crew----gets up before DAWN!!---Of course SUZANNE has been doing this forever----ho!----It's GREAT getting up & seeing those AWESOME CREATURES in the NEST!!!!----MANY THANKS TO YOU & TO WANDA ANNOUNCING THE NEW THREAD!!!!
Jo, the thunder started just as I went to bed, then heard a few raindrops, but that's it. It barely made the streets wet! My bowls of outdoor catfood were all dry this morning! So yeah, guess I slept through it.
BACK YET AGAIN! EVERYBODY SHOULD BE UP, TAKE PICS!
MORNIN' WANDA---MEGAN---ROBYN--SUZANNE & MEMA JO!!----We didn't get much rain here---But as ALWAYS--- It's a BEAUTIFUL DAY in WV--temp. 64°---& predicting rain today!!!---(keep dancing MEGAN)----BELLE made my day today---I saw her "leaning waaay over" & SHOUTING ORDERS to some one or some thing!!! SHE IS WOMAN----WATCH HER ROAR!!!
Paula, I LOVE your eagle! For some reason, I haven't been getting very many avitars coming through, and haven't seen one of yours for months. But this baby made it through, and he's beautiful!
BTW Delphia's (BirdGirl) email concerning Brisbane only having 2 remaining chicks...??? Photo shows only 2 - We won't see anything for a good many hours... I wish it weren't true....
Good morning all. Just caught the last visit but see they are definitely making their appearances today and working some at nestorations too. Great. Off to Staff meeting. Hope all have a good day. Thanks to those who sent some pictures this morning. I will look at them when I return. Even though I am not doing the NCTC Blog this season I will of course feature them always on the FTLOE BLOG....Looking for those special times to keep pictorial record of. Both doing nestorations which is what it soudns like has started to happen is wonderful. They are definitely the first pair this year to seriously be present together and start working at thier nest. I was thinking I might have to get to the nest at like 5 am on Oct 20 to see these two LOL, so glad to here that they are ocming bakc at a little better time :)
I was reading Jim's remarks... about the missing chick. I thought that the 2nd one was healthy looking . I think I agree with him that the 3rd one may be the missing one. Maybe we'll never know for sure. Just need to enjoy the 2 little fluff balls!
MORNIN' AGAIN-!!---Computer still giving me FITS!!----Going to read what I have missed!!!----MITS--MITS---Is it too late for me to boil water---or is this the DAY!!!
Well, there was something inside the third egg. Mits and I saw something poking out while it was hatching. I'll try to make a video from the pictures I took later tonight.
Wanda- Do you have a sign for your shop? I have been up and down that road 1000 times in the past week and haven't seen one.
Megan-I will be down tomorrow, (I hope) to learn my new job. Yesterday I didn't wake up til 11 and was going to come today but they changed my Dr. appt. to 11:00. YIPPPEEE.
CU later, Jo. Have a good one. Norma, I'm not having any problems. Sometimes I will get the cam logo, but the pic comes right back. Bai just pulled Squiggles up to her head, they're both sleeping.
No Norma, I am now a tour leader for Megan. From criminals to little people. Same mental level so I should be okay. Ok Ok, the little ones are probably smarter than the criminals.
Wow, Sharon, we sure are lucky today! Gotta repair that nest. You guys must have gotten one heck of a storm last night!
Lisa, don't knowo when cam came up, but it was up until I left at noon. Don't know how long after that, but it was down this morning at 4 when I logged on.
MORNIN' HELEN!----Just read your blog---I thought maybe this might be "BOILING WATER" day!!!----I was reading about FREIDA'S lost egg!!------SO SORRY!!----I need to catch up on my email too---Was out yesterday!!---
Mits, I read that on Yahoo. It was on the main page when I went to login and check my mail. What caught my attention was Vick was tested positive for maryjuana, or however you spell it, I know that's not right. Anyway, right below that is a link for other "latest stories" so I clicked on that. On the right, there are pics of pandas, and articles. Evidentally there was a big "world" meeting last week, and that's when China announced it would no longer lend out pandas to any other countries. I didn't read the reason why, but the gist I got from scanning was there were quite a few arguments with various countries and China, not necessarily about pandas, but lots of things, so China shut off the pandas.
I've been reading several articles, and, it sounds like they are not going to be giving them away as gifts, but will continue to lease them for biological and breeding purposes. They want the money, honey!
Ok, Mits! I hope you're right! Yeah, for a million bucks a year per panda, who can blame them! I just hate the fact that every single panda in the world belongs to China! BELONGS, for heaven's sake. Yup, Norma, saw the update. Soooo nice to see our kids there!!!
The "LITTLE PRINCE" is sleeping-- amid the bamboo--in his "FAVORITE SPOT"-----It's 83° here & I bet it's warmer where my "FAVORITE" little PANDA is sleeping!!!
Well glad China isn't taking all the pandas back.....glad Mits explained that one ty Mits.
Doing good Suzanne just "older dog" has been waking me around 5am. She has needs and it seems she has given me the 5am shift. I drag after an hour I do get back to sleep. Then don't get here till you are gone. Sorry but Glad to see you today before you went.
I had better say that before further delay, or everybody will be gone before I get my coffee and flavored oatmeal.
I went through the galleries present in Brisbane (16 and later), and I am convinced the third chick was never seen, and it probably didn't make that strangely shaped hole in the shell. In other words, only the first two eyasses actually hatched...case solved!
Dana, they were never going to take the pandas back, they just weren't loaning any others out. So if you had one, you're good to go, but any country that doesn't have one, and wants one, wasn't going to get it. But Mits clarified that, so I'm glad. It's always about the mighty dollar! Or yen.
Morning, Jim. Hope you have a great day. We had several visits by Lib and Belle today! They're decorating the nest with all that new greenery!
Bai is holding Squiggles and they're watching outside...must be a keeper cleaning again. Mom really holds that baby when someone is around! She's such a good mommie.
Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle/panda day. Hope Lib and Belle come back tonight to tuck the new leaves in! Or bring more. Wonderful to see them today for so many visits! LOL, Norma, I will pet the Madonna Gypsy and her entourage. (But don't tell my Queen of Sheba, she's under the impression she's the alpha cat!) Gypsy's just the mommie... Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
They are just not going to give them as "goodwill gifts", seems they are a tad testy with some countries. It is a fine diplomatic line when it comes to pandas.
Paula, I read that too. In fact the ones to Spain were the last, and that was only because of an agreement with the Chinese government and the King of Spain. I'll try to find these articles tomorrow and post links here. Getting outta here now.
AAAWWW! LOOK at the ATLANTA CAM!!--LUN LUN is lying in the hammock & the "LITTLE BEAUTY" is sitting there nursing---LUN LUN has her PAW resting on the back of BUTA head---It is so COOL!!!!!
Good morning, Norma (Suzanne, Mits, Mema Jo, Paula, Robyn, Wanda, Megan, Sharon, Glo, Jill, Steve and Lisa too).
Norma, I get a Large Box of Instant Oatmeal at Sam's, which has maybe 6 flavors, although 1 is unflavored. And the unflavored one is the only one I don't like (until I add flavoring), but I think the "Apple Cinnamon" flavor is the best.
[I was trying to think of something else to do with the unflavored oatmeal, and I'm wondering about meatloaf. Has anyone tried oatmeal in meatloaf??]
Lisa, the camera was working all day from about 7 onward, but it began to fade shortly after sunset and hasn't come back yet.
Sounds like what I thought -- the sun going down is when we lose the power.
Our cam tech just contacted me -- he hopes to get out there this afternoon. Hopefully he has a replacement part for the solar panel controller, as I think that might be the problem.
Paula -Mits-Robyn Do you remember when you were coaching the 3rd hatchling and one of you commented that He sure dried out fast? So what Jim is saying and what Robyn's empty egg photo is showing... There probably never was a 3rd chick. I now have my closure!
Jo, we were talking about how the 2nd chick had dried so fast, reading on their Q & A, it seems they thought it was 3 chicks.....Yeah, Paula, you would think that.....ER is back on tonight.
We use a solar panel/controller to charge the battery, which powers the cam and the microwave transmitter/receiver in the field.
Our cam tech thought he had fixed the problem with the solar panel, but now it appears the battery is not holding a charge, so it might be something else. It could be the battery itself, although in the past it's often been a problem with the controller.
Norma In case you are still on or come back while this post is still relevant for you the FTLOE BLOG Is here For the love of Eagles Blog
There is a cruise tonight running of the live eagle chatroom at 8 PM Eastern time. PLEASE PLEASE come a few minutes early especially if you haven't cruised before. We will finish up my part of what Iris has shared with me. Anne and I are organizing her cruise or two for the chatroom as well. For those of you who haven't stopped in for any of the cruises yet, tonight might be a good time to familiarize yourself with how the Chat cruises work so you are set to go when Anne comes in to narrate her cruise in a week or so.
OK got lots to do and a cruise to set up. Cam looks kind of yucky at the moment :( darn ...hope it clears up very soon, OK all better YES!!!!
Thanks for the advice on the oatmeal... One thing I noticed was the Apple-Cinnamon flavor has less in it (weight or cost considerations), so I've been using half of a plain packet with those, adding a little cinnamon and mixing. Makes a bigger, better bowl of oatmeal.
I might try one of the suggestions above also.
I learned to cook just to survive when I had to leave Mama and home, and while I'm not a great cook or a very interested cook, I am a very interested "eater," so I try to do a few things that taste good to me.
When I grew up, the only cooking boys did was on camping trips [or roasting a hot dog at a beach party...loved those], and I was really never very interested in it until I HAD to do it.
Wow Mits thats quite a bargain price for the little ones. Plus we get to feed them and take care of them, then send them back to China. What a deal. LOL
Hahahaha! Could be "retired people's work," Paula, but this time it's more like trying to put the clincher on the Medicare...did Part A, waited, studied, did Part B, more waiting, etc., now it turns out I didn't get the whole story. There are HMO and PPO plans and, and, and, for Medicare; and they vary by state and area...got to compare costs and features, and so on, and so forth..........
I'm kind of at sea again about it, but it will probably come together. In the meantime, there's regular Unemployment stuff and clean the "Darned" living area.
I know Sharon - That is where Lib usually goes too. What did they mean about Remote Camera - Can they move it automatically? I still wish we had a pop up cam!!!!
I see them, but they are just playing around, don't hear anyone talking......the otters at NZ that we were watching are Asian small-clawed otters. They are the smallest of the worlds' 13 species of otters.
Well I was going to grill pork chops for dinner but here comes the storms again. Hearing thunder now. Getting really dark. Hope it isn't as bad as last night.
Howdy Folks well from the looks of things and sound we are in for another thunder boomer big time... Ooooo so glad Lib N Belle are visiting the nest so much today hope it keeps up everyday... Well i got to spend alittle time with Jasmin today poor bay got 3 shots in her lil legs... Ohhh and took pictures of Diana... Can ya tell i love my grandaughters as much as ya'll love yours... BBL checking cams... and GloBug will be there for the cruise tonight .. hope your feeling better...
HEY HEY HEY Sharon could be worse and be snow..lol But we love the look of Bluefield when it snows on cam.... If what we get is anything like last night.... my lights are already blinking her at store and sounds like a freight train outside...
JILL-- You asked about my shop sign. It is another political thingy. We can only have it up 20 days on the Highway Right-of-Way. So, we choose to have it up the last 20 days of the month when the public is really serious about shopping for costumes. I know we probably loose a lot of customers because we don't have the sign the first 10 days, but what are you gonna do?
I just went over to Momsters to view the albums of eagle pictures and what agrand start to a hopefully fantasic adventure for us watching these 2 beautiful of Gods creatures excite and amaze us wit there tenderness and love of the eggs and babies... WOWWW its raining buckets out and blowing from the north side ways...

Those sleeepyheads don't know what they are missing. There is something special about seeing our pair EARLY in the morning.
I think JILL said Martinsburg got 1" of rain the first storm that came through and then another one came a little later. Haven't heard a total yet.
Glad TORI is happy with her results. HAPPY is good.lol
Looks like the Bonire cams are having difficulties this moring Suz
Robyn, sounds like Tori did well, but she's happy to remain with her schedule. That's a good thing! Yup, bet you are a proud momma!
I saw the Bonaire cams, with they would fix the reef cams! The donkey cam is working well, think that's the only one. Have the other fish cam up, and it's down too!
You guys sure got a lot of rain! Wish we would get some just a tad north of you all! Maybe later this afternoon we'll get some. One can only hope!
That lil Squiggles hasn't moved, and here comes mom!
Bai is covering Squiggles. Ok, find Squiggles!
LOL, sure is a good thing Squiggles has some black on her now, you'd never be able to see her!
Man, Bai really has her covered now!
Did Bai uncover Squiggles or is she still under the bamboo? Was reading email and didn't see.
Bai just rolled over and Squiggles was under her arm. Thought we were going to have to send out the Bush Wackers to find her!
Got to get busy. BBL
By the way--I told the "Ladies of the Night" and now will tell the "Ladies of the Morning"....My shop opens up for the Season on Monday and will stay open until Oct.31. Thanks for the heads up, Wanda, about you not being on her. We would surely miss you!
Dang, Belle just left, Lib still there.
Oh wow, Belle flying back in almost right on top of Lib, he had to move!
Did everybody get busy or go back to bed? You're missing visit number 3 for today!
I knew they would come back to see me once they knew I was here
Must be a keeper nearby.

Poof, gone again.

Robyn I have really not had any reply to my email concerning a Pop-Up cam like BW osprey site has :(
Wanda- Do you have a sign for your shop? I have been up and down that road 1000 times in the past week and haven't seen one.

Hi all,
I've been moving the last two days and haven't been on much.
How long was our cam on yesterday?
I wrote our cam tech when it first went down, then by the time he wrote back it was up again. Now it's down once more.

Eagle left. May be back, though!
Lib/Belle must have thought the nest needed a little greenery!
SUZANNE, where did you read the article about China not sending out any more pandas???
HELLO, SHARON
JILL---That's a DREAM job---If I lived closer---I would volunteer!!!----LOVE THOSE LITTLE ONES!!!----COOL JOB!!
Mits - I read that too. I think it was on a link from your friends site. Pandaopoly
OPPS, Forgot about that link, thanks!
MORNIN' HELEN!----Just read your blog---I thought maybe this might be "BOILING WATER" day!!!----I was reading about FREIDA'S lost egg!!------SO SORRY!!----I need to catch up on my email too---Was out yesterday!!---
Hey, Norma, nothing yet, but they did go out and buy a mini-van, they needed more room for babies.;)
Mits, I read that on Yahoo. It was on the main page when I went to login and check my mail. MORNING DANA!!!---You are correct---It's about time for SUZANNE "to hit the road" as she says!!---How are you feeling today?
The ATLANTA PLAY ROOM is MT---Just see a little green bucket hanging on the log!!!
Ok, Mits! I hope you're right! Yeah, for a million bucks a year per panda, who can blame them! I just hate the fact that every single panda in the world belongs to China! BELONGS, for heaven's sake.
Yup, Norma, saw the update. Soooo nice to see our kids there!!!
Morning, Dana, enjoy the pics!

GOOD MORNING, MY EAGLE LOVING FRIENDS.

Jim
SAFE TRAVEL HOME SUZANNE---BEST TO THE "MADONNA GYPSY" & FRIENDS!!!
MORNING JIM!!---I checked out the BEAUTIFUL "WHITE FLUFFS"--No sign of "one" chick!!!----
What kind of "flavored" oatmeal do you prefer with your "SEATTLE BEST" coffee??
Dana, they were never going to take the pandas back, they just weren't loaning any others out. So if you had one, you're good to go, but any country that doesn't have one, and wants one, wasn't going to get it. But Mits clarified that, so I'm glad. It's always about the mighty dollar! Or yen.
Morning, Jim. Hope you have a great day. We had several visits by Lib and Belle today! They're decorating the nest with all that new greenery!
Robyn, fish cam has been fixed!
Bai is holding Squiggles and they're watching outside...must be a keeper cleaning again. Mom really holds that baby when someone is around! She's such a good mommie.
Mits - That's what I had read, also. I hadn't read what Suz said.
They actually just loaned 2 each to Spain and Australia.
AWWWWW.
Jim
Tried oatmeal in meatloaf, don't like it,. I have used the same receipe that I got off a bottle of Heinz 57 sauce years ago.
I'll vote for the apples and cinnamon too, with strawberries & cream coming in a close second...
They have a Sam's where you live Jim....you don't buy that much in "stock form" do you just being (1) person?
Thanks, Mits, I wondered about how it would taste.
Can you say what it was you didn't like?
Jim
I don't like my meat loaf made with oatmeal either Mits.
Jim make some oatmeal cookies.
Okay, thanks guys.
Sounds like what I thought -- the sun going down is when we lose the power.
Our cam tech just contacted me -- he hopes to get out there this afternoon. Hopefully he has a replacement part for the solar panel controller, as I think that might be the problem.
Lisa how about the batteries or where the energy is stored
Jim, JMHO, but I thought it made it dry.
You can use the plain oatmeal in "no bake cookies" or "preacher cookies" as we used to call them, or in apple crisp.
Mits-What about the pandas born here like Tai, Squiggles and Buta do we pay a million for them too? Or just have to return them at some point?
The pandas sent to DC, SD, etc are a million a piece and are on a 10 year lease, any off -spring is about $650,000 a year, Jill
Geesh, Mits. You would think a baby panda was payment in itself!
Paula -Mits-Robyn
Do you remember when you were coaching the 3rd hatchling and one of you commented that He sure dried out fast? So what Jim is saying and what Robyn's empty egg photo is showing... There probably never was a 3rd chick. I now have my closure!
No cavities! Got my sticker & new toothbrush!
Jo, that comment was about the 2nd chick that was already there....
Jo, we were talking about how the 2nd chick had dried so fast, reading on their Q & A, it seems they thought it was 3 chicks.....Yeah, Paula, you would think that.....ER is back on tonight.
Robyn,
We use a solar panel/controller to charge the battery, which powers the cam and the microwave transmitter/receiver in the field.
Our cam tech thought he had fixed the problem with the solar panel, but now it appears the battery is not holding a charge, so it might be something else. It could be the battery itself, although in the past it's often been a problem with the controller.
Thanx for the clarification!
Thanks, for the info, Lisa....good luck:).
Just heard from our cam tech. He replaced the controller. Hopefully tomorrow, when he puts in the newly charged battery, it will work.
Fingers crossed:).
Mei and Tian are playing in their den
Jim
Wow Mits thats quite a bargain price for the little ones. Plus we get to feed them and take care of them, then send them back to China. What a deal. LOL
Did you see the SD cam is back and the baby is sleeping in the den??
I think this is the examination day too.
Well, I've got to head out and do some retired people's work.
Laaterrrrrr, Ladies...............
Jim
Is a nap retired people's work?
Might work in a nap too though.
Jim
lol Paula - you took the exact words right out of my mouth!
Jim You're pretty smart! I also add some plain to the Apple-
Cinnamon flavor- I think the dehydrated apple chunks must not weigh much!
I must find a way to get a better presentation of these beautiful eagle pics out to all of you. I don't mind placing in the album - its fun to do
Jo - Picasa is great. That's where I put my pics...
Paula I will be in touch. I just want to be able to give a link to everyone and then All Can See What We On The Blog See! BIT
HMMMM, wasn't he an Italian artist????:)

OK That is better - Back to the album.... Nilla should be coming on soon!

Frieda has color and also has that 1/2 egg under her breast....
Tai has his fruitcycle and is sitting right in front of his window for a 'crowd pleaser' !

I see them, but they are just playing around, don't hear anyone talking......the otters at NZ that we were watching are Asian small-clawed otters. They are the smallest of the worlds' 13 species of otters.

Well battin down the hatches once again... Poor Lib N Belle... THE WIND IS REALLY BLOWING OUT SIDE....
There are these drops of stuff coming out of the sky here in Bluefield. Somebody said it was rain but I can't remember what rain looks like!
Hi Everyone--
Yes, Nilla and Jill, it is getting ready to storm again. The leaves are blowing as if it were a hurricane down here on Shepherdstown Rd.
HEY HEY HEY Sharon could be worse and be snow..lol But we love the look of Bluefield when it snows on cam.... If what we get is anything like last night.... my lights are already blinking her at store and sounds like a freight train outside...
JILL--
You asked about my shop sign.
Bobbi, I was watching the National Zoo in DC.
Wow! The thunder is really loud. No lightning yet. No rain yet. Still VERY windy.
Mits - That was Picasso. :)
