eagle at Maine #2
update from OK.....
30 March: A very interesting sequence of events takes place about 10:35 CDT. The male brings in an
American Coot and begins eating it. A large stick is in his way, and he spends a moment rearranging
it several times. The female rises and the male begins feeding the chick, who clambers over to
get closer to the coot. The female begins burying the unhatched eggs in the nest lining. Shortly
thereafter, the female leaves and the male unburies the eggs and settles on them, by all appearances
ineptly excluding the chick for a few minutes before allowing it to climb under for brooding.
He seemed focused on the eggs, although they will almost certainly not hatch at this point.
raining at Decorah nest, eagle tenting
Limbo stick is gone
At least it isn't snow
MORNIN' DEB!---OH YEAH!!----That 'lil one' needs food!!!---She is so tiny!--ho!---She is a CUTIE!!! Sorry you are having such lousy weather!!--You don't have snow do you?
No snow, Norma, it was supposed to start overnight, but now they have moved it to later today. That is good, means I shouldn't get much at all.
My forecast:
RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW LATE THIS MORNING. SNOW AND AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON AS NORTHERLY WINDS INCREASE TO 20 TO 35 MPH. WHILE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE ONLY EXPECTED TO BE 2 OR 3 INCHES... THERE WILL BE ENOUGH SNOW FOR THE STRONG WINDS TO CAUSE LOCAL VISIBILITIES OF A QUARTER MILE OR LESS IN BLOWING SNOW. THE SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW WILL DECREASE RAPIDLY THIS EVENING.
MORNIN' JO!---I read that you have a cold----you listen to ED!!--think of you often---take care woman!!! I have classes this am---can't wait till I get back & talk with ANNEMARIE---(her roots are in ROMNEY)---That should be easy tracing---most people in this area have done that-----DOES THAT MEAN I CAN CALL HER 'CUZ'---ho!!
They aren't always CORRECT!!---Will pray this is one of those days!!----Keep those little dogs WARM!---ho!---
Here you go, Norma:)
Have a great day all, busy sowing seeds here, back to the GH- beautiful sunny day! Shake Rattle and Roll♫♪♫♫♪

Hi ya' Megan and Dana....believe you've both been MIA!
Deb, hope the winds blow the snow away completely!
Beautiful day here, but it's supposed to be downhill for rest of week...but we can sure use more rain!
a new stick has been added to Finney's nest, right over the snow, wonder who did that?
And A Good Eagleland Morning to you Lynn and Megan.
Been trying to figure which Osprey nest to watch....wow we have a lot of them lol
Seems like BWO nesting materials are being used at an uncamed nest.
Yes, Dana, SO many nests to watch....too time consuming...feeling guilty here that I'm not getting much accomplished...LOL...maybe not TOO guilty!
That's wonderful news, Steve. Can't wait!
Morning, all.

The Cape Coral Osprey cam is back on, it looks like there are chicklets.
I am trying to decide if there are two or three, the cam isn't on the best place to see..
Osprey at BWO.

Same female as the other day, and I don't believe she is removing materials.

CT osprey cam is on

Okay, how many of you reached out and knocked on wood? LOL I know I did.
STEVE....that sounds so fantastic. Lotta happy people knocking on wood!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!....Slept in this morning, have read paper and now finishing up my coffee. Slow start, but that is okay! Going to do my excercises and then work in the yard all day. We had a teeny bit of hail before rain last night, but all is okay and it is a glorious day! Heading to the nursery to get impatients and whatever pleases the eye!
DEB...sorry about more snow. What a bummer! Wish I could share my sunshine with you.
Gotta go check cams!
Feeding in CO!
Two cute little chicks in CO and a dark spot on one end of the third egg.
Two eagles on the nest at Finney's on the water. Beautiful picture!
I am having trouble getting NBG this morning. mmmmm??????
There are no chicks in the Hummingbird nest at the moment. Both fledged, and I don't know if they will return for a rest now.
Did anyone see if they both were in the nest last night?
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Lolly...put on your sunscreen! Found out last night that my BFF in CA has a skin cancer on her nose. What's that white sunscreen for noses??? Snooty??? Something like that...LOL!
NBG video is not opening for me either, Lolly...
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
zinc oxide??
No, Jim, didn't look at hummers at all yesterday!
I can't get NBG either, Lolly...it's been off and on for several days for me.
Might have that in it, Mits....been too long since I've bought anything for sunning that I don't remember!!!
Time to get ready for dentist apptmt.--getting the final crown on. Then to hospital for quarterly chest x-ray. And then to store for dog food. See you all later this afternoon.
osprey in Kentucky nest
Both osprey in BWO, one is bringing something in,
The Osprey chicks in CC are huge! Walking on their own already.
I'll try that one more time, Hidey has worked her way out of the nest cup and is sitting next to Belle. For those of you who get e-mail, just ignore me!
Back to the couch, I have an upset stomach today. It is starting to snow, I was so hoping it would miss here.
Good Eagleland Afternoon Jim, Lolly and Deb.
Is that sticks I see again coming into BWO?
Baby Looney is asleep sh----
Thanks for the input concerning NBG. I always get worried that it is me!
Have done my exercises. Made a major break through today on weight loss. Down 24 pounds now. That makes 16 to go. Hope I can do that this next month, though it is so slow it may take a little longer. Clothes are baggy!!!!!
Sun has set at Finney's. Pretty view! No eagles. Saw Hidey bobbing in the nest.
Going to get beautiful, run some errands,, PUT ON THE SUNSCREEN :), and work in the yard.
Have a fantastic day everyone. Talk with you later.
A lady at the therapy pool had gotten at place on her nose. She loves the sun. It was skin cancer had surgery and some cosmetic surgery to fit it.
I have Milford Conn. up Kidd in at the nest. I hope to see Lola too. They are both suppose to be there.
This is the nest were once they had the "blue teddy bear".
Cam isn't in right position for Kidd and Lola's nest. Use to be able to see better water in background. Oh hi Lola. ( : Nice to see you doing nestorations.
Happy you and Kidd are home. What's new for your nest this year.?? Both in the nest.
I hope the pair at BWO can be left alone this year. To mate and have chicks. They will have to be on guard all the time in order to save this nesting place for themselves.
Wow, lots of sticks in the BWO nest!
Hidey is all over the net, made it back to the nest cup.
Greetings from sunny cool western PA.
I've been reading the blog but haven't posted--I can't keep up with you all.
I see our eaglet is doing well and that we may have a better camera situation.
My birding friend and I went out last week and met a man who showed us some long-eared owls. Then an unusual duck for here, a Eurasian wigeon. I am trying frantically to learn my ducks. Big order for this previous backyard birder. Also we were told about another eagle nest, about 5 miles from here. We think we will be able to see it when the trees get leaves, unlike the other one near here. Anyway both nests have a parent sitting.
Mt. Redoubt left a little ash in Anchorage over the weekend. My DD says it just makes the snow look dirtier. Breakup is just starting and they expect another year of Easter egg hunts in the snow.
Could someone post the link to the CT osprey cam, my link just gives an error message.......thanks
=^..^= Lynne
Hi, Lynne. Good luck on the ducks! They can be hard during non-breeding seasons. Right now they are a little easier, but a few are so similar it is hard. I would love to see a Eurasian Widgeon, we have American Widgeon here.
Deb, I would never have gotten it by myself.(The Eurasion Widgeon) And nearly every female looks alike! I hope a spotting scope is in my future. Binocs just don't do it.
You are right about a spotting scope. I lucked out big time on mine, bought a used one at the SDOU meeting last fall!
Check out the osprey pair at BWO...sure looks like some sticks are a stayin' !!
They have really been busy today, Paula, it is so nice to see them there!
Granny - here is quickie cut and paste for CT osprey cam...cam tilted out of whack...but on.
http://www.ctaudubon.org/action/osprey.htm
Looks like they even brought in a nice chunk of marsh mud
Lots of sticks at CT
Wonder if they changed the cam view on purpose??
From BWO site:
Finally, some meaningful action.
Tuesday we saw an osprey bring in a meal. We also saw an osprey with nesting material and some general chasing about.
There are pictures on the BWO page.
Milford Conn. Osprey Kidd and Lola
If it say run or download AXIS you want to click YES
I thought i saw a big crack in the last egg at CO, but it is grass. It does look like there is a nice size pip hole.
There is a new thread with a new video of our family!
HEADING FOR NEW THREAD
Hi Gang. Been off 'puter for awhile, so don't know if you've heard about the computer worm/virus called CONFICKER.If it does or doesn't do anything by Apr. 1, it is recommended that no later than 6 PM EDT Mar. 31, today, you should turn off computers & disconnect from the Internet. Unplug any Ethernet cables & check news before reconnecting on Apr. 1. Got this at work, but applies to everyone.
Plz add my BIL, Perry, to your prayer lists. Heard last night he has pancreatic CA, metastisised--said he has 1-2 weeks. He went to hosp over weekend, couldn't eat, & came home Monday.Quite a blow--he can do anything. Maybe God needs some work done by an expert.
Hidey is out of the bowl, at the back of the nest!
don't know if you read it...
