New thread.
I have been racing back and forth to DC the past few days. I had the honor to be in the audience on Tuesday at the Main Interior Building when the President spoke for the 160th Anniversary of the Department of the Interior. Had to go back down yesterday to DC as well...

I pretty much like all birds:)
but PANDAS are still my 1st love:)
I AGREE PAULA!!!----If I get near our nest---FREEZE--FREEZE & very difficult to refresh----really get hangs-up!!!----Wish we didn't have such long--long blogs----???
Hmmm, wouldn't the live vultures eat the dead ones? They are scavengers, after all.
I don't think we have a baby yet. There has been no food delivery or anything to indicat a baby is there yet.
Looks like a bird snack at BWE...
PAULA---That article was from CHARLESTON GAZETTE----They say the VULTURE will have nothing to do with their own DEAD BIRDS----Thus scaring them away---
Eewwiie at BWO I think
No food needs to be delivered for eaglet for first 24 hrs...
Looks like Lord BW on the chicklets at BWE
BWO UPDATE......
Nest Update
03/06/09:
Our Great horned owl has been to the platform on three different occasions now. Although we enjoy seeing such a beautiful bird, he won't be welcomed by the ospreys when they return.
Great horned owls have been known to prey on osprey chicks and more rarely osprey adults.
Interesting fact, Norma!
but food gets delivered usually as soon as one is hatched.
It's a warm 51° at BWE!!!
I couldn't tell---can only see the back!
yes, Paula, think it is him, he has a short body from head to tail when he is in the nest.
Yes, Lib starts bringing fish as soon as he is aware of a hatching!
Good morning! Took a while to go through the blog!
SHARON.....Happy Birthday!!! Have a great day!
DANELLE.....Happy Birthday!! Hope your day is very special!
So glad Jo's surgery went well. If any of you talk with her, tell her I've been thinking of her.
We are breaking camp right now, heading to Fredericksburg, TX. (By way of eagles nest!) Should have Wifi at the next campground as well.
To all of you......have fun watching our nest! I'll be back on early afternoon for me. I think!
NORMA...once again, Friday morning breakfast "ain't what she used to be!" :(
BBL
Nope no food needed for the eaglet for several hours but as I remember last year that Lib was hauling in a "whale" of a celebration up there in that tree.
both eagles at HI
I think I recall aobut three of them with flies before it was all said and done and everyone was hatched LOL.
Can see boats going by at HI
RED---When the chick hatches---It doesn't eat for 24 hrs---They survive on the yolk---
Could the food be for MOMMA??
She is up!
All I got to see were two eggs, the rest of the nest was hidden.
well did anybody see anything :)
got slow mo here...can see 2 eggs...
darn it just plopped eagle back on eggs.
I did see a spot on an egg, at least it looked like that to me. I'll get a pic and put up
I have pic of three eggs. Will post as soon as I process it.
%$#%& feed, couldn't get the eggs, but looked like 3 to me
Not sure if we had a switch or just a stretch but did get to see 3 eggs
Eating at BWE
Well I am off to run some errands. BBL
Didn't get to see crap on that!

Well I definately saw three eggs but I lost my photo. Sorry.
Nice long feeding at BWE!

And a wiggle wiggle
2 cute fish crows at BWO
I'm back...got all excited....so much so that I thought I saw Belle "tending" something...until I got to where you all saw 3!!
Would somebody please fire the blogger cop. I have typed in my password at least 8 times and he won’t let me in.
Glad to hear that Jo is sounding perky (or loopy!!). Gotta tell ya'--when I take Percocet, i turn into a real chatterbox! My girls always laugh at me. But...not too long ago my youngest had a big toenail removed and her MIL gave her a Percocet, and she just wouldn't hush, either!
Nice breakfast...good crowd--think we had 22 people....restaurant loves us!
FINALLY....geesh!
GOOGLED---***"VULTURES ARE ONE OF THE FEW BIRD SPECIFIES THAT ARE AFRAID OF THEIR OWN DEAD!!!
Charles Town is in the same county as Shepherdstown---
Good morning all. I need coffee. Just stopped in to see about Jo and our Belle. The sun is shining and my fruit tress are blooming . Its going to be a beautiful day. Its a birthday day for special people. Maybe a chick too. BBL
Interesting that they would be afraid of their own dead, I bet the biologists would like to read their minds!
They are such fine looking birds you would think they would be afraid of their own living!
ROFLMAO, Sharon!!
wow...big mouth open at BWE
the otter girls are out at NZ, Jo loves the otters.
good one, Sharon :)
Egg roll!
Once again, I saw nothing but a frozen eagle mid-roll. :(
Sharon, you are on the ball:)
It's my birthday! I am in a good mood today and you all are having to pay the price for it! :)
calm sunny day at NBG
Started out as a cloudy day, but sun is out and it's already up to 66...of course, along w/ the nice temps come the bugs....saw a big blow fly when I was outside, and last evening saw a wolf spider---ugh---hate them the most!
still overcast and 59° here.
Red tail Hawk is laying in the nest at Portland.
hope she is on an egg, Deb:)
Beakspeak top 5 from yesterday...

Dellwo Birdcam

USFWS Eagle Cam
(Bald Eagle)
Kodukakk
(Tawny Owl)
I hope she is, too. It is hard to see her between the bars until she moves.
Deb, what is the latest on Redoubt?
New Blogger cop message for me:
Server Error
The server encountered a temporary error and could not complete your request.
Please try again in 30 seconds.
I almost missed her, then she moved:)
They just keep posting the same message over and over again. The only thing they change is if you can see the volcano or not on the cam.
Redoubt volcano has not erupted. Seismicity is low, and includes small, discrete earthquakes.
Webcam images are dark. No anomalous activity is seen in mostly-cloudy satellite images.
AVO continues to monitor Redoubt closely and the observatory is staffed 24 hours a day.
I've seen that one before, also have to post my name and password several times a day...don't know what is wrong.
thanks, guess we will know if it blows...
Decorah eagle has two eggs now, happened sometime yesterday, but first seen this morning.
egg turning nctc nest
now fluffing and freezing
Yay, 2 for Decorah!
both eagles at HI
Checking Live---how many eggs??? Shadows-hard to see...nuts.
LOL, I zoomed right past that 2 egg info on IA over in the CHIL chat!
Feeding BWE
Think my Live is frozen, but parent sitting behind eggs & looking down--maybe was a roll. Took pic w/camera.
I found it at the Forum that Never Sleeps!
I am taking off for a while, BBL.
chicks in view BWE
eagle BWO, don't know what the food is at BWE
What... my chick turned back into an egg??........man....
That's about the looks of it, Megan!
I am trying to make it out the door, darn phone.
I still have Portland open. You can't see the egg, but they just did a switch, so there must be one!!
Okay, I am really out the door this time, before the phone rings again.
Is that Peter cottontail at BWE???
I just sent a pic to myself to enlarge, thought it looked like Bugs.
oh yeah looks like Peter, see the cottontail
Hi again. I don't see any notice that one of the eggs at the Allen's Hummingbird nest has hatched.
Is that food at BWE a bird or a rabbit?? Looks like rabbit leg and fur, but I thought I saw a bird's tail, and Paula said it looked like a bird to her....

Jim
"Server Error" reminded me. I tried the new "critterzoom" link to the new Kent cam, which Deb gave us a couple of days ago, and it worked perfectly then; but I haven't been able to open it since.
Well, I asked about it on the Kent Forum, and the Administrator said something about a group of servers, which are in CA somewhere, have been down a lot for a couple of days.
Could be why you couldn't get through too.

New thread!
Come on over!
Happy Birthday Sharon and Danelle!! Hugs and prayers for Jo.
I'm going to a retreat in Shepherdstown all weekend, so take good notes so i can get caught up on the action when I get a break.
Looks like SnowWhite and Frosty and bunny for lunch?
JIm - Peter cottontail is a rabbit, not a bird!
