Good grief Jim, that poor chick hasn't been fed yet? Sure hope it's still around through these terrible rain storms! Good morning, world. Raining very heavily out there, and thunder boomers shook my house this morning! Flooded streets, and lots of debris in the water. Be careful. Not raining here now, but not sure it's finished. 52° in PA, 53° in VA, so glad of that. Least it's not freezing! But rivers are gonna be up today! Reading Lisa's update on BWE, gues our father is very delinquent. Sure hope he comes around pretty quick, before our chick gets too weak. Our poor eagle is tenting like mad keeping the eggs dry, and BW just now is either turning the egg or checking on the chick. Back over them now. BW parent looks soaked, so they're getting the rain too. All have a good eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly.
See Mei's cam is still kaput! Poor Mei is still trying to get up to her grotto! She never made it yesterday, and cam is on same loop today. She outta be pretty tired by now. Tai bug is sleeping on his rocks, cutie bug. And SD has Su Lin on cam, not our baby, so so much for panda viewing.
BW mom has her head back under wings, she's soaked! Poor thing. Ours still mantling, but haven't seen pic update, so it may be frozen. Not even spidey's web has moved.
Well, BW lady has been awake since I've been here. Our eagle pic I don't think is updating. Time had stopped for a while, but it's updating now. Still about 7 minutes slow, but that's becomming normal now. Cam clock loses about a minute a week. But I've been watching closely, and I do not see the pic updating or changing at all.
Well just never mind. Pic IS updating, eagle is just not moving much. STill mantling, and I guess getting rained on, but eagle is moving, cam is updating! Phew, glad of that!
Still a little dark, but it looks like Norfolk nest is empty. Eagle was there at 11 pm before camera pic became to blurry to see any more, most thought it was the female sitting in nest then.
Mornning, Megan. Haven't seen anybody in the NBG nest this morning. Those storms were terrible last night! Our eagle woke up a little while ago and turned eggs, and Lady BW has been up a couple times turning egg and checking on chick, but she's been sleeping for a while now. Maine cam is covered in rain, can't see anything.
Our lazy butt male is on the BWO platform. Don't see any foo he brought in, but sure wish he'd bring some to mom and baby! He's up close and personal. He's drenched too.
Got 3 awesome pics, sent to Lisa. The first chick was still moving head when 2nd one was coming out of shell, so she's aware she's getting a sibling. Mom came back and watched for a refresh, then back on them. So awesome to see!!! So now we need the lazy hubby to REALLY get on the stick and start supplying food!!! Oh, mom has head down in egg cup. Chick is not totally out of shell, but shell looked like it was broken in half.
Mom has checked on the chicks a couple times, but now sitting comfortably on them. Ours awake and looking around, but still on the eggs and wings out a little, but not much. Rain must have stopped, or at least slowed down!
Megan, that is an old pic. The cam is not updating! With the warm weather and all the rain, there isn't any snow left. At least not that much. Date is 3 Mar.
Good morning everyone. Looks windy but dry right now at the nest. Hoping for sunshine ahead today. Where is our Meteorologist?
Thanks for the picture Suzanne. Couple of cuties there. Dad must be doing something right. He's gonna have a good day fishing I ams ure. Ican feel it in my bones, and you know how accurate my ones have been.
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!!---It's a dark windy a.m. here in WV--"HOME OF BELLE & LIBERTY"---temp. 42°!!!----LOOKING FORWARD TO A GLORIOUS DAY!!!----What HAPPENINGS will this day bring---ENJOY!!
Today's Shepherdstown weather- Mostly sunny and windy. Highs in the lower 50s. Temperatures steady or slowly falling this afternoon. West winds 20 to 30 mph. Gusts up to 45 mph this morning. FIlling in til the meteorologist gets here...
Tonight Mostly clear in the evening...then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 30s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the evening Thursday Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.
Morning Norma and Glo. We have 2 chicks at BWE! Unfortunately, lazy butt dad is hanging out at the osprey platform! He doesn't even know he has a 2nd chick, good for nothig. Mom is waiting for him. I'll send pics around of the chick totally out of the shell. Already sent to Lisa.
MORNIN' SUZANNE---MEGAN---INDIANA DAVE---SHARON & GLO!!----WOW!--MEGAN we are getting the 'GUSTY' winds---forecast sunny --- windy & temps falling in the afternoon---highs to be around 52°!!!
SUZANNE---LISA has a "few words" words about lazy DAD!!---MOM--may have to go after him & kick some butt to get him there!!---If he can't fish---he can baby sit & MOM will bring home the bacon!!! ho!
Hahahaha! The VA cam just came up again, and there's an eagle perched on the branch to the right.
As I was watching the bird perch there, I saw a squirrel just start onto the nest next to the trunk of the tree, the eagle heard it or saw and started to swing around.... the squirrel was gone in a heartbeat!! Then you could see the little booger hopping and skipping from branch to branch all the way around on the underside of the nest...
The eagle's looking down, so I reckon he's following the imp, but can't catch anything that small and quick, especially at close quarters.
Glad to hear the second chick at BW has hatched, haven't looked at the pics yet.
Keep your eyes on the nest all day now to make sure that male you've been putting down does his duty. Maybe the family won't starve after all if you watch very closely.
Maybe you can report back once in a while and let us know how you feel about him. OK?
Morning, Jim! I think unless he improves, he sure doesn't deserve the name of Lord BW!! Think Dead beat dad is more his style! And name. There is an eagle on the osprey platform, and mom looks like she's waiting for dad to show, but don't know if the one on BWO is her "hubby."
MORNIN' JOANNE---The WV nest has NOT hatched---but we have 3 eggs in our nest!!---The BLACKWATER NEST (located in MD)---has 2 hatched chicks as of this a.m.!!!---One was hatched yesterday!!---One early this a.m.!!!--AWESOME SIGHT!!
Did anyone see Mom bring Dad in and show him the chicks like they usually do??
That ritual seems to trigger a lot of positive action toward caring for the young by both parents. Maybe she skipped that step, and he hasn't gotten the idea particularly that he is a father.
Usually when the babies are new, dad supplies the food for mom and them. For some reason maybe he is just not that bonded to the mom or babies. Only time will tell.
Jim, I didn't see her bring dad in to show him either chick, but dad has to be around in order to do that. I don't think she has seen him either. I caught a switch on the nest yesterday, around 6:30 or so, and that's the last time I've seen both eagles in the nest. The BWO eagle took off right before mom got back on the babies. Was watching both cams, like Megan, I was waiting for her to show up at the osprey platform to get dad. If that was dad.

Good morning, Suzanne.
Please look for the first egg of the second clutch at Norfolk.
And for signs of normal food acquisition and the feeding of the chick at Black Water.
Thanks,
Jim

BW checking on baby again and/or turning egg. Our cam still frozen. It probably drowned! BW has squiggly lines, but not all the time.

Our eagle is turning eggs and moving, first time since 4 I've seen them move! Now 0548! Lady BW still sleeping.
The time would be cam time, It's 0556 now for real.
Morning, some soggy looking eagles this morning. What a line of storms that came through here last night.
Still a little dark, but it looks like Norfolk nest is empty. Eagle was there at 11 pm before camera pic became to blurry to see any more, most thought it was the female sitting in nest then.

He just flew off. Maybe (HOPFEULLY), he's gone hunting for food for his family!!
That's got to be the Mrs at Norfolk. She's the one that likes to eat the bark off the trees, which is what she's doing right now.
Good Morning; WOW I think i will
come back later,it's going to
take a while to catch up on reading.I'll wait till steve opens

Right on BW schedule for him, 35 days. Good mommie, slowed the first hatching down and now they're only 2 days apart. Ok dad, get on the stick!
Mom has checked on the chicks a couple times, but now sitting comfortably on them. Ours awake and looking around, but still on the eggs and wings out a little, but not much. Rain must have stopped, or at least slowed down!
Tesoro eaglets are standing tall, and I lost NBG. They have some great pics added, though. They did catch the mating yesterday in the pine tree!
Our cam is frozen again.
Cool, our nest!

WHOA DANA----There is a PACE of DONKEYS feeding this morning!!
MORNIN' MOVIN'JIM!!----I bet the EAGLE could have grabbed "SKINNY" in a sec. if he wanted to!!!
Hope we didn't upset Jim with our criticism of the male at BW....
OK, what I'd like to know: Is there a eaglet hatched in the WVA nest?
Someone asked where I was from the other day. Here is our website and we post pictures daily.
http://www.hostingphpbb.com/forum/index.php?mforum=peregrinefalcon
It is new...it used to be connected to Greentreks but they ran out of funds.
All are welcomed to join in...I need help in collecting pictures and uploading to photobucket and posting. LOL
BTW, I'm in NW CT...
VA SITE is swaying in the wind & an EAGLE is perched on the limb!! BEAUTIFUL SUNNY a.m. in VA!!!
Hello and welcome, Joanne. Thanks for the info. We have not had a hatching yet in WV.
eaglets on view at BWE
Here's a link to the most recent Island Update...this time it's a "Northern Island Update" which I didn't see until this morning.
Steffi's Catalina Report can be seen by clicking on the "IWS Updates" at the top of the page..if you haven't read it already.

Wow, what a difference in the size of these 2 eaglets!
Mom left, babies visible in the sun!!!!
Hurry, still visible.
WHOA!!!---This is #666!!---Isn't that supposed to be BAD LUCK or something like that!!!!
adult is off chicks at BW. Let's see if she gets Dads attention at the other nest.
[:~)]
Jim
She's been gone a couple minutes, glad the chicks are in the sun. Hope she find the old man and gets him motivated!!
Keep waiting to see her show up at BWO and give that eagle a scolding..if it's dad.
Did anyone see Mom bring Dad in and show him the chicks like they usually do??
That ritual seems to trigger a lot of positive action toward caring for the young by both parents. Maybe she skipped that step, and he hasn't gotten the idea particularly that he is a father.
They're not Einsteins, you know.

Jim
BWO eagle just took off.
Mom is back.
Somebody is on the chicks, and Dad is gone from the BWO nest. Did anybody see what happened?
[:~)]
Jim
Usually when the babies are new, dad supplies the food for mom and them. For some reason maybe he is just not that bonded to the mom or babies. Only time will tell.
I think that is Dad on Sylvia and her sibling. What do you all think?
Hi Everyone! There's a new thread started! Come on over!
NEW THREAD. COME ON OVER.
Looks like it could be, Sharon. Wish that cam was a live feed-miss so mush with 30 sec. refresh.
I'll tell it again...
New Thread
started.
