Thanks for the new thread, Steven. Thanks for the heads up, #1 Floralgirl! Hope your ear and sinus infections are clearing up! Anytime, Robyn. Still no BW visitors yet, but hoodie still hanging out in Finland, and lots and lots of donkeys in Bonaire!
The donkeys are on one of the many Bonaire cams. http://www.bonairewebcams.com/DonkeyCamLarge.php This one is for the donkeys. Too cute. Use this one for all available cams: http://www.bonairewebcams.com/TheWorks.php
You can pick whatever cam you want from "The Works."
We were looking at the reef cam last week, I think. Right now a boat is going over, and fish are swimming on the reef. Makes you want to get to the shore!!!
Well, my goodness... MOOOOOOOMMMMMMM! Bai woke Squiggles, how cute is that. Well, no Squiggles isn't moving, she wants to sleep. Bai is telling her get up NOW. Squiggles, being a baby, is totally ignoring mom. Too funny! Now Bai's gonna sit there and just watch the little one.
Well, mom won and Squiggles is awake and nursing. Bai is too cute, she almost always wiggles her left foot when she starts nursing. Wonder why? And can't tell is Squiggles is nursing, or just up, cam is still out of focus. Oh, no, she's laying down, and there went Bai to join her. Ok, now they're both gonna go back to sleep.
Blackwater cam has a Pop Up (Stand alone) cam that you can bring up & keep up so you don't need to pop in & out all the time. Click on the right hand side of Osprey Page the POP UP CAM You should be good to go!
Checking out Tai & he is up in the tree having a blast! I am wondering what gift ButaButa will receive today for her b-day week long celebration? She had fun with her large yellow car yesterday.
Lisa at BW has updated the Osprey Nest Update ... 09/05/07: We've updated the Osprey Cam Web Log with news about the eagles we've been seeing on the platform.
Also, the web log contains current migration news and also news about our website.
She sure is a good, mom, Robyn. They are funny to watch. Good morning, Jo! Wow, you must be sleeping well, you're up early this week. Nice to see you on here at this time of day. I just had a turkey sub for lunch, I was starving. The girl over there asked me this morning why I always got lunch around 7:30 or so. So I told her, that was my lunch time more or less, and by that time, I'm starving. Hummm, it was good. Did you check out the donkeys? They're so cute...
I am thinking that it is about time for another cub exam out there in SD so we know if we have a little Prince or Princess! I really do vote that it is a Princess!
good morning all, Hi Rob. Has anyone checked out the second finland osprey site. There has been a bird there on and off for the past few days and am wondering what kind it is.Anyone know. Can't read finnish. lucky can read english.
Morning, Bobbi and Paula. Bobbi, Paula's right, they are called Hooded Crows, commonly called Hoodies. They're common in Finland, but we don't have them here. They're really quite beautiful, google them, there are some good shots of them. Oh, and welcome aboard!!! Glad to see you're blogging!
Thank you, Suzanne for the welcome. I'm new to blogging so excuse If I make any mistakes but enjoy your site and all the people on it so much. Feel like you all are friends already
Oh my, Bobbi, mistakes are authorized, so who cares? We just have fun watching the cams and comparing notes. And then watching more cams...and more notes. And before you know it, we've been all over the world and have 500 comments to prove it. Just too much fun, right everybody?
Oh wow, ok, so when are we leaving? Oh yeah, did read that. Eagle Talons enroute too, I think. Cool. I want to see one of those wood herrons, or whatever they were. Dang, still haven't read that article. Such wierd looking birds, but sure can see where they got their name...their beak looks like wood.
BTW BOBBI-- I used to live in Ft. Pierce and Vero Bech area as a child. Dad was in the Navy. For many years, after Mom & Dad retired, We would visit the area in the Winter. After my Dad died, we would take my Mom there to visit friends after Christmas every year. When our friends died, she didn't want to go back. It has been about 3 years since we have been there. I really miss visiting Florida.
Panda Cam is up - has a '1 day to go' sign on a brown bag for ButaButa inside ... Last seen, she was outside sleeping up on the log platform..LunLun was greeting the visitors! lol
Morning, Mits. Check your mail, should have a dup. Hopefully!
Robyn, my sister and I used to visit grandparents every single summer, in Tom's River in Jersey. Loved it. Haven't been to the Jersey shore in years and years.
Robyn, it is the best time at the beach. Crowds start to dwindle late August because of the different school schedules, but there were alot of New Yorkers here last week, they like our beach:)......Bobbi, so glad to see you here....we love your daughter and grandaughter, they are special
DC Panda Cam: Mei and Tian are sitting together with their fruit cycles or apples (?)...... Tai is out running around in the yard..not knowing what to get into!
Mits, nobody has been there. I even thought the pic wasn't updating, but it is...shadows are moving. Hum, after yesterday I want to see them again....about everyday will be good!!!
Sept. 4: Our Osprey Cam link has not been working for the past several days and we are investigating the problem. We are having new computers installed and it's possible the Osprey Cam may have been de-activated accidentally. However, my colleagues at our Coastal Center at Milford Point -- who can actually see the nest from a telescope in our Nature Center -- report seeing the smallest hatchling today still hanging around the nest. The adults (and, we believe, the larger hatchling) have left the nest and are heading for points south, somewhere between Florida and Venezuela. But it is not unusual for the remaining Osprey chick to elect to stay around the nest (even up until mid-October) hunting, honing its flying skills and fattening up before beginning its southward migration.
That would be Tai Shan, he is always by himself...BTW, I did see my osprey yesterday, dip into the ocean about a 100ft from me, snatch up a fish and head for the bay, flew right over my head, if he had dropped the fish would have landed on my face. A seagull tried to catch him, but gave up real quick
I haven't read your astute comments as yet, but I did read some of the good stuff Lisa has posted on the BW Osprey site. You should probably read it too when you have time.
Have fun today...it's a beautiful morning so far here in So Cal. 71°, 70% humidity, supposed to rise to 79° before long.
I had been wondering about Anne & her leaving for AK....I went on this mornings thread and found her comment after the new thread was up..... Heidigirl said. Good Morning all,Just checking in before I go to work. Its seems I had one of those nights when I woke up every hour.Yuck. I didnt get to the computer last night until you had gone to bed. May you all have a beautiful day and find much to smile about. Hugs.
Well, didn't see a single visitor to BW today. Darn. Squiggles is still alone, you can almost see her in the dark. Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Good Afternoon all my eagle friends. I loved the Sandhill Cranes video. Check this out if you want to know more. I have had this book forever. Those of the Gray Wind The Sandhill Cranes By Paul A. Johnsgard
Winner of the 2004 National Conservation Achievement Award and recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award (2001), both sponsored by the National Wildlife Federation.
"One doesn't have to be a naturalist to find pleasure in this brief yet highly intriguing tale of a timeless ritual."—Living Today
"This is a very special story, a classic of nature writing that combines the keen observance of the scientist with the sensitivity of the naturalist. The result is a timeless story of the American landscape, wild creatures, and man."—Outdoor Press
"Sensitively written, scientifically accurate as to the bird's habits and instincts, and gracefully illustrated."—Seattle Times
“Describes their life cycles as they have taken place since time immemorial.”--Lula Leverenz, Wild Bird
With Paul Johnsgard, we follow the annual migration of the sandhill cranes from the American Southwest to their Alaskan mating grounds and then home again. It is a flight unaltered in nearly ten million years. By presenting various cycles of the migration in four time periods from 1860 to 1980, Johnsgard, a prominent naturalist, is able to show how man's encroachments have imperiled the flocks. In each section there is interaction between a child and an adult brought about by some ritual event in the migration of the cranes. The story is enriched by the author's exquisite illustrations, by Zuni prayers, and by Eskimo and Pueblo legends.
Jo that plant like the purple you got last year. I got 2 off Megan red this year. Planted in hanging pot. We love sitting in kitchen watching them come to the plant.
Did your plant come out again this year or is it a annual?
Would love to plant alot but can't take care of it. Still can't walk on grass or uneven because of back. It's ok....knee helped my back alot...I happy surgery did so well.
So I'll plant things in hanging planters and maybe next year some boxes off my ramp railing.
Well I spent 2 hours at the DMV for them to tell me they dont' know what happened to our motorcycle tag. Then I went to work to talk to the judge and waited for like an hour and decided to come home and get something to eat and guess what????? They now have an arrest. So I am off again. No panda nap for me.
Hi Paula - you about ready to get through your 'hump day' and head home? What would we do without pandas and falcons? My SD cam is down - just says CAM ZONE.. Must be really busy. Quite a spotlight on Frieda...I read the Q&A just published and the galleries that were updated are still not real current......
I see Tai has a box, bucket and I couldn't tell what the other object was until he tramped on it - I guess it is his blanket (?) Has some apple treats also. I was remembering when Mei taught Tai how to do the stand on hind legs Ray Charles dance! Haven't seen that in quite some time!
Jo-that is the rest of the tags story, they don't know where they are. Then I put a pot on the stove and there must have been something under the burner cause the next thing I know the whole thing was on fire. Now my house is full of smoke and I am worn out trying to clean it up. I am running away.
Some days it just doesn't pay to even start by getting out of bed!
Things usually do get worst before they get better..... I think your day's events make that a Proven Point
Take a cold shower! Laughing with you not at you because I sure have had those kind of days - Just had a burner fire on the stove 5 days ago - Hubby did it - not me!
Yep! I made it out to the mailbox! I will go out this evening - Ed and I usually go somewhere for an hour or so. I am not yet energetic enough to go Stir Crazy! BUT I FEEL IT IS COMING ON SOON!
Haven't been able to see Squiggles for a long while. Could be cam problems or maybe they are checking baby out to see if it's He or She. I miss the little Princess.
I had forgotten to ask Dana when she was on this afternoon if she had heard from Nilla - last we knew she was calling Dana and going thru the tunnel! I hope she had a safe trip home to WV!
We have forest fires on all sides of us and the smoke is horrible. the sun this morning when I went to work was bright orange-pink. At least it has cooled down. I work about homes in the way of the fires.
Okay my brain is fried. I read Anne Maries post and thought it said Floralgirl. Thought we had forest fires around here somewhere. Thought I must have set something else on fire and didm't know it. Sorry can't take the blame for fires in CA. LOL
ANNE-MARIE-- Went through Florida once when they were having Forest fires and it was frightening. They eventually had to close the highway. When are you leaving for your cruise? Has your brother gone home yet?
Oh Jill I worry about you. LOL. Candy I'm glad your there. I leave Sat morn early for San Francisco. I',m packed but I haven't zipped up yet. I jeep thinking of things I forgot.
Slow down Anne - Candy hasn't been on for awhile - That's Wanda asking when you're leaving --- When is it going to be Zip Up time? You have that needle & thread kit?
ANNE-MARIE-- Where do you board the ship and what is it's name? What are you looking forward to seeing most? My goodness, I wish we could sit down with a cup of coffee and talk about your trip.
Your all great... We have a big fire southwest of us near San Jose and one north of us in the Sierras. I couldn't even see a mile away when I was at the office. The wind is blowing north which is great because it bring San Francisco cool air but its not helping the fire.
Wanda I wish we were close enough to sit down too. Its wonderful to find friends that are interested in the same things I am. When I said I was booking an appointment in Sitka at the Eagle reserve believe me I was alone. My traveling partners wanted to know why. They just don't get it. Wasn't the video of the cranes wonderful?
Anne-Marie you will love the cruise, my mom and dad took a 2 week cruise to Alaska with mom's sister and husband and they had a great time and the eagles they saw in Sitka was MANY. If you search online for Sitka Alaska webcams there are so many to choose from and some are eagle cams *hint hint* :).
OK bragging rights, after such a busy summer I pulled an A the first half of my semester, I started 2 more classes for the second half of the semester monday. YAY ME. *hopping of my soapbox going back to my corner*
Jill trust me it gets better, when you stop setting fires lets do lunch within the next few weeks.
Anne, Wanda's Capt Gene makes a drink that everyone raved about! I had my oxygen on and I think Wanda said that I couldn't have one! lol SOOOOOOOO everyone else liked them but I can't swear by them since I didn't even get a teeny tiny taste!
Robyn I know how hard it is to go back to school with a family. I went to school during the day when they were in school and worked graveyard. I slept when I could. No one understands like someone who has done it. You go girl and you deserve all the brownie points there are.
ANNE-MARIE--You can have all that to eat and much more. I gained 3 pounds on our cruise.I have just now gained 2 pounds listening to Paula and Megan talking about ice cream. Blue Bunny is my favorite brand. I like Banana Split among others.
I used to sit on the back porch of my grandmothers house and wait until the milk was skimmed and the cream was brought to me to churn into ice cream. Always vanilla and then she would stir in fresh peaches. I would churn until my arms would ache. My big cousins would have churns too and I would always try and out do them because they were bigger.
I'm not sure what The Capt. puts in his Eagle Talons. It was something he put together just for our gathering. He loves to cook and concoct new drinks and receipes.
I don't know where you are JO--but it is almost time.... Maybe you could get your hubby to drive you to The Eagle Nest tomorrow and watch the cam being installed.
I am right here - I was hoping that 'someone' with a very good camera would be over at the Sycamore taking a few pictures for everyone to view! Believe me - I am thinking about it! lol
OK, I now have the camera, but I'm too far away and haven't been able to figure it out yet. Jill that leaves you. Take some aspirin and go for it.What do you say?
Wish I could go over tomorrow, but there is this little thing called WORK that seems to get in the way!
Summer is almost over, just brushed 3 lbs of dog hair off my 2 dogs...shedding like crazy...so I say go for the rootbeer float before it's too cold to enjoy it!

LOL, yeah, I think they're cute too, Megan!
Well, mom won and Squiggles is awake and nursing. Bai is too cute, she almost always wiggles her left foot when she starts nursing. Wonder why? Ok, guess Squiggles told mom that if she had to wake up, least mom could do was feed her. So Bai is washing and nursing Squiggles.
Bai is such a good mom!

OH, bet that was thrilling, Mits! How cool!!! LOL, but be glad he didn't drop that fish!
PAULA, also SD has 7 pandas and DC only has 3. I was glad to see him Suzanne, thought he had flown south last week
Bai is outside, and little Squiggles is alone. You can almost see her/him, right above the time.
Yeah, hope he heads out soon, Mits.
True, Mits.
Cool on the osprey fish catching. Next time take a video!
LOL!!!! I don't even have a camera here.
GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY...

Get your coffee Jim
There's a great day out there just waiting for you! lol
Just put my fall wreath and rug outside the condo, renters must think I'm crazy, but don't know when I will be back, so I like the lived in look.
Don't forget Maggie's pumpkin!
Squiggles still alone, and they zoomed in. She/he's sound asleep.
I think that Squiggles is all alone - it takes awhile to adjust your eyes to the darkness of their cam......
They finally zoomed in on the chublet :)
Geesh, crazy operator! Zoomed back out again!
Hoodie back.
Well, didn't see a single visitor to BW today. Darn.
Squiggles is still alone, you can almost see her in the dark.
Time for me to hit the road. All have a great eagle/panda day.
Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Glad you made it over the 'hump day' Suzanne. See you tomorrow.......
I think I best take the advice I gave to Jim and go see if there is a great day waiting for me out there somewhere! lol

Hi Mits true a "reader" lol
Oh Jo I love watching butterflies
Dana - did you see Bob Quinn's butterfly pics from BW? Very nice.
Yes I did Paula he really does take beautiful pictures. Wow I always think when I see his work. We are so lucky to have him share them with us.
Humm something is stopping me from getting Conn. Osprey webcam. I wanted to see if "Oscar" the seagull was there this year.
I sent you back an email Jo. Thank you. ( :
Dana Paula has comment today up around 11:13 concerning the CT Osprey Cam
You're welcome, Dana! <:)
Jo thank you went back and read it thank you Paula too. Mits my "reading eyes" are missed things lol....
BBL
Buta Buta may be waking up - they are both in the hammock!
BBL
Yeah mine miss some things also, Dana, but my sister is a good reader and lets me know if I have missed something....BBL:)
Well I am off to get my panda nap Ed's getting his so I better get mind in before he makes alot of noise around here lol
Take Care Everyone later
Have you all read the new questions and answers on the Frodo & Frieda site? One of the questions is mine... {;=)}
Jim
Well I spent 2 hours at the DMV for them to tell me they dont' know what happened to our motorcycle tag. Then I went to work to talk to the judge and waited for like an hour and decided to come home and get something to eat and guess what????? They now have an arrest. So I am off again. No panda nap for me.
Buta Buta just went BOOM down off the tripod logs! At least she is awake!
I noticed 2 new galleries of pictures on the Frodocam.... Now I will go check out the Q&A - Yours better be a good one, Jim. lol
Jill - no rest for the weary! We'll hear the rest of the 'motorcycle tags' story when you return.....
Jim, that was a very interesting question!
They shut the door on Bai - it's darker in there now...
Where's Tai?
Door now open for Bai - she is peeking out...nope, sitting up now, probably time for chubby to eat some more soon
Nope, out goes Bai, In comes Tai = treat time.
Chublet still alone....snoozing away...
Morning light should be shining on Frieda soon.
Time for lil rascal to nurse, Bai is back!
Reading the Panda Cam update by Jay Pratte (my favorite trainer) and I just got the biggest laugh at his last comment - it concerns our name for Mei Lan of ButaButa (Sharon started it)...........He says
..Readers can look back to compare these, but yes folks, a stick of butter CAN evolve and grow.
BUTA BUTA OUR LITTLE PRINCESS
Please read the update
I think we have now entered the
"Silent Zone"
BBL
BYE, BYE JILL
Some days it just doesn't pay to
even start by getting out of bed!
Things usually do get worst before they get better..... I think your day's events make that a Proven Point
Take a cold shower!
Laughing with you not at you because I sure have had those kind of days - Just had a burner fire on the stove 5 days ago - Hubby did it - not me!
jO - HAVE YOU MADE IT OUT OF THE HOUSE YET...SORRY FOR THE CAPS!
My SD cam is not working either....Tai snoozin...
None of the SD cams are working - must be technical issues!
Hump day is over...heading home!
Yep! I made it out to the mailbox!
I will go out this evening - Ed and I usually go somewhere for an hour or so. I am not yet energetic enough to go Stir Crazy! BUT I FEEL IT IS COMING ON SOON!
Yeah JO. I am going to a soccer game to relax. Later.
Haven't been able to see Squiggles for a long while. Could be cam problems or maybe they are checking baby out to see if it's He or She. I miss the little Princess.
NILLA--
Are you home yet? You need to check in with us. We want to know how your trip went.
SUNNY--
We haven't heard from you in a while either. Did you capsize your Kayak?
Wanda - Paula and I both found that
None of the SD cams are working - must be technical issues!
I had forgotten to ask Dana when she was on this afternoon if she had heard from Nilla - last we knew she was calling Dana and going thru the tunnel! I hope she had a safe trip home to WV!
Jo--She is probably mentally and physically exhausted. We'll hear from her soon.
Hello, Ladies! Back from walking the doggies...gotta go pay some bills...yuk!
Hi Everybody... anybody home.?
We have forest fires on all sides of us and the smoke is horrible. the sun this morning when I went to work was bright orange-pink. At least it has cooled down. I work about homes in the way of the fires.
Okay my brain is fried. I read Anne Maries post and thought it said Floralgirl. Thought we had forest fires around here somewhere. Thought I must have set something else on fire and didm't know it. Sorry can't take the blame for fires in CA. LOL
ANNE-MARIE--
Went through Florida once when they were having Forest fires and it was frightening. They eventually had to close the highway.
When are you leaving for your cruise?
Has your brother gone home yet?
JILL--
How did the rest of your day go?
Oh Jill I worry about you. LOL. Candy I'm glad your there. I leave Sat morn early for San Francisco. I',m packed but I haven't zipped up yet. I jeep thinking of things I forgot.
Jill I['m still studying the camera. What did you mean about multiple pictures and single pictures?
jeep?
I get so frustrated at how slow this blog is.
Slow down Anne - Candy hasn't been on for awhile - That's Wanda asking when you're leaving --- When is it going to be Zip Up time? You have that needle & thread kit?
Mercy, no more caffeine for me. I'm sorry Wanda. I guess I'm over tired.
Jo, needle and thread. I'll go put it in now.. Thanks.
Hello, Heidi. How close are the fires? How big is it?
That's OK Anne-Marie. You should hear some of the names Candy calls me!
ANNE-MARIE--
Where do you board the ship and what is it's name?
Jo I found some dress tape at Victoria Secret on line , Shhhhh. That will keep my dress in place so it wont show too much.
Jill, you need an eagle talon:)
First of all , What's in an Eagle Talon? and I'm I old enough to drink one?
There is a cam for the ship I'll be on. Its the Dawn Princess. I leave San Francisco Sat morn. You can watch me. If I fall over board tell someone.
I had my oxygen on and I think Wanda said that I couldn't have one! lol SOOOOOOOO
everyone else liked them but I can't swear by them since I didn't even get a teeny tiny taste!
YOU GO GIRL, ROBYN !!!
Robyn I know how hard it is to go back to school with a family. I went to school during the day when they were in school and worked graveyard. I slept when I could. No one understands like someone who has done it. You go girl and you deserve all the brownie points there are.
So Gene makes them and we dont know whats in them. Hmmmmm. Wanda keep an eye on him and maybe we can learn his secrete.
Way to go Robyn! I have been there and done that too. Took me 14 years. I'm done!
Wanda, send Anne the Eagle Talon recipe. And send it to me, too!
Mmmm, picked up some Blue Bunny Ice cream tonight. Chocolate brownie flavor. Yum!
I'll take the brownie YUM...will need chocolate real soon lol
Thank you everyone
Nice going, Robym!! Ice cream..I just had some triple chocolate.
You girls are so naughty. I'm saving my calories for the cruise then when I get back I will repent.
My cousin just called. She is on an adventure in Mexico.
I want shrimp, lobster, halibut, salmon. With lots of white wine and maybe a potato thrown in.
ANNE-MARIE--You can have all that to eat and much more. I gained 3 pounds on our cruise.I have just now gained 2 pounds listening to Paula and Megan talking about ice cream. Blue Bunny is my favorite brand. I like Banana
Split among others.
I'm not a chocolate person. I love caramel and fruit . Maybe black cherry is my favorite.
Thank you Jo for putting my comment on after I went to bed last night. that was very thoughtful of you, as usual.
I like caramel too. With chocolate is the best, but I'll take it on apples anyday. :)
Ok, I'd like and Eagle Talon, with some Blue Bunny chocolate brownie ice cream and a lobster tail with butter, PLEASE!!! BOOYAH, ROBYN!!
Helen Your the best. ! You make me laugh in an empty house all by myself. I haven laughed out loud in so long.
Oh, yes and then lick the paddle.
Yummy.
Licking the paddle is a right if you churned it.
BRB
Here I sit wondering if it is too late to make an A&W rootbeer float considering I lost a few pounds this past 3 weeks, grrrr decisions decisions
You are all so bad!!!! shame on you gals
Thank you Anne...Go for it Robyn, it will be a celebration float:)
Of course it is alright to have a rootbeer float Robyn, just don't eat breakfast.LOL
I don't know where you are JO--but it is almost time....
Maybe you could get your hubby to drive you to The Eagle Nest tomorrow and watch the cam being installed.
Go for it Robyn. You can only be 65 and wonder why you didn't do it when you could. Cut the carbs tomorrow. Don't tell your mom I said that.
Ok, I'm outa here, before I eat more ice cream:) Nite all..
Robyn you have a great Mom. We have been emailing.
I am out of here.......
GOOD NIGHT LADIES....
REST WELL.....
GOOD NIGHT JIM....WHEREVER YOU ARE.
I think she went to get her a float.. An A&W is summer time to me.
Wish I could go over tomorrow, but there is this little thing called WORK that seems to get in the way!
Summer is almost over, just brushed 3 lbs of dog hair off my 2 dogs...shedding like crazy...so I say go for the rootbeer float before it's too cold to enjoy it!
