It appears from the observations of myself and some of the members of the Maine blog that the female at Norfolk has begun her second clutch of eggs.. Alleluia!
Had to reboot and by the time I got back I had missed all the action.
Thrilled to know that is the female on the Norfolk nest. Wahoo!
Paula, have a question. I have my live video set to always be on top. Some times it works and sometimes it doesn't. Like now when I clicked to start typing, away it went.
OH NORMA, 1:38 LEFT IN THE GAME Don't go now. It is nip and tuck. I can't watch. Now 1:02 to play with a time out. We just lead by four points. Ooooohhhhhhhh!!!!!!
Oh go ahead and have a good lunch. Talk to you later.
Well I just watched the Mom at NBG (Norfolk) do the wiggle wiggle and tucking materials towards her. Contragulation to Norfolk. They in their 2nd clutch believe they have an egg....GREATTTTTTTTTTTT !!
Great videos, Paula! Don't know how you do it. I'm sure not a techie! Been watching NBG & she IS finally sitting. Can't see well into the bowl when she's up. Saw Belle making herself & bobbleheads into "needles in a haystack"! Put yesterday's (15th) update pics in the Nook here.
Belle says to Liberty, "Honey I only laid 3 eggs 2 have hatched. Dear even when the 3rd hatches. You'll be a good provider. This I already know. Liberty Dear take a break. You don't have to impress me sweetheart". lol
well I love that we can sit here and chuckle over them having way too much food than about wondering where and what they have to eat for themselves or their little ones. WE are once again so very blessed.
The interesting thought is that I bet he has caught more than we see, because I haven't really seen either of them eating on the nest very much...so he has probably caught more for just him and her to eat.
Wow! looks like it's feasting time in the nest..Pretty windy here, as you can see by the tree swaying, last gust was 27 mph. Sun is in and out of the clouds.
Have a question of those of you who have done more eagle watching than myself. Watching Norfolk and wondering how can you tell when she is laying an egg? A moment ago when she was stirring around the camera really zoomed in close.
Lolly, the eagle will maintain a low posture position in the nest, leaning forward at times. Sometimes you will see them rock from side to side. When the eagle lays the egg, you will see them lean forward, then you will see the tail move upwards when the egg is laid. They let the egg harden for around 10 minutes, then they start to incubate it. It can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour to actually lay the egg once they are in position.
That was suppose to be "limb"....the Dad was there earlier. He flew off. Female was sitting up in nest looking around. Finally she left... if there is an egg no one if on it.???????????
Good Afternoon! I arrived from Hedgesville safe & sound! Winding road of good old West Virginia. I thought all you W V residents voted to have the Wild & Wonderful logo used instead of what I still see on the sign as I enter WV... We're Open For Business... I think it is.. Had a beautiful drive and wonderful vistit with 3 great grandkids & 1 granddaughter & 2 daughters & 1 son-in-law. Can't forget my special guy John! The grandkids have a very special loving home on 3 acres with lots of planting room - What would you do with 99 blueberry trees(bushes)? ([°?°]) How about that one Jim...?? lol
Over in Maine Forum they are saying it was Mom on the limb that flew away. Dad was in the Norfolk nest and then he flew away. I'm just glad whomever is there is back on the egg !!
I usually say I live "20 minutes from the Sycamore Tree" - my claim to fame lol I'm over the mountain into the state of Maryland.. Little town west of Frederick called Middletown. I would be about 1 hr west of DC & Baltimore,MD......
Hi, eagle & eaglet lovers! I had to come to the office today to see if we have a new babe yet and to watch our eagle family. I was just watching the feeding and it looked like the fish was real close to one of the eaglets and it was trying to eat a piece hanging off the fish near the eaglet's head. Would they try to do that or at this point in time are they wired to only take food from Mom or Dad. I remember watching the nest 2 years ago and when the adult dropped a peice in the nest by accicent, the eaglets didn't go for it (until they were a lot larger).
Jo no egg has been actually spotted there. If you remember about that nest. If is "extremely deep". The action of the eagle video as though laying an egg. Then the actions of the eagles "rolling the egg". With the actions of the eagles that lay in the nest doing the "wiggle wiggle". Is what everyone is going by. Jo since they don't have the cam set to look down into the nest. Let me add this Jo; "I'm not climbing that tree to yell back that this is or is not an egg". ( :
HI CAROL IN WV---HAS BEEN A FUN DAY--A LITTLE BIT OF BICKERING BTWN PARENTS AND A LITTLE BIT BTWN THE LITTLE ONE, TOO! BELL REALLY WORKING ON THE FLUFF THAT LIB BROUGHT IN EARLIER
Hi Carol Oh I'm not saying that she didn't. I'm just saying I think she do due to all the actions. That they are commenting about over there. I am also saying; "I'm NOT climbing that tree to look to tell everyone for sure".!! lol
Hello Carol of WV! I really thought you would show up at the office to get some of that filing done!! lol DEB: I jest watched the NBG video that Peggy got - Sure looks like Egg Laying to me. Guess well know if they start incubating.
As we see BWE exposed so often, this word from Lisa on her Nest Update is reassuring ( a little )
Nest Update 03/16/08: We've noticed the occasional eaglet sitting at the parent's chest at night. This is usually a sign that the chicks are getting better at controlling their own temperatures. Good pic of the little one
Yeah - JO and DANA - we'll know in 5 weeks. Maybe she experiences "false pregnancies"! Hi, ROCKING - I haven't conversed with you before. Welcome on here. My only computer access is at work, so my time on here is limited - "free" time during work hours. I spent a lot of time before logging on here today reading Friday evening, Saturday and today's blog comments. I also watched several of Paula's videos. They are so great for those of us whose time online is limited. Thank you, Paula!!!!
GEULA - It's a harsh cure - It's called "Empty Nest Syndrome" and will occur in 4 months. But the addiction is not truly cured, because it becomes active again in 6 months.
Yeah, DANA - I did read that about Jennifer in the earlier blogs, but I forgot it. So, I probably lied when I said I had never conversed with you, Rocking!
Remember when we were trying to figure out about the eggs in the nest 2006. Who was it that kept picking someone to put in a big sling shot and shoot them into the nest. lol
Carol I had Rockingcr mixed up with Kirine (she used to be Jennifer). Kirine had to make up a new name lost her information to get on blog. Sorry didn't mean to mix things up there for you Carol.
Believe me, DANA, it doesn't take much to get me mixed up. You can see, I went right along with you, with no hesitation! Ha Ha1 I guess we're both a little crazy!! You know, I was thinking - when the leaves come out, the nest won't be so bright! I like you video, Glo. This eagle family makes us all HAPPY. Several times yesterday when I was at home, I'd think about those 2 bobbleheads and how cute they are and I would get a big grin on my face.
The difference between our nest and the BW nest is so striking. But all 4 chicks are thriving. It will be interesting to see if that continues. If Lady BW is the main provider, will she be able to keep up with those growing eaglets? I guess the same situation happens with humans - some kids have it better than others.
Yes, they are, NATURE. And it's hard to explain to folks who don't get addicted. The woman I share an office with - all last week when I would say "Awwwww" - she would say "must be the baby eagles"
ROCKING - I live in Upper Tract, WV, in Pendleton County. Spruce Knob, the highest point in WV, is in this county. I work at a non-profit organization and do the accounting here. Our office is on top of a ridge with a gorgeous view of the North Fork Valley and Spruce Knob ridge. We ocassionally see bald eagles flying above the valley. Also see turkey vultures floating on the thermals. I also see eagles and ospreys along the river on my way to and from work. I love living here!
According to her table, Maine is late, but they have had a lot of snow this year. Maybe the eagles are just waiting for the right weather. (not sure if eagles can do that or not)
Glo, I keep the sound down, otherwise the dogs bark at the crows!!
CAROL IN WV--ILIVED IN BERKELEY AND JEFFERSON CO IN WV FOR ABOUT 15 YEARS---NOW MOVED TO MID CENTRAL KENTUCKY AND LOVE IT!! SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A GREAT JOB!!
Just returned from Naturenut's Nook The osprey pictures are really good - & the sunrise... I would have been late for work that morning because of just pulling over watching all those beautiful colors in the sky!
TIME TO FIX DINNER--MY LITTLE ONES ARE HUNGRY TOO! NO FISH FOR US TONIGHT, THOUGH!! :) CAN'T GET OVER THE STINKY FISH THIS AFTERNOON. WILL CATCH BACK UP LATER HAPPY WATCHING EVERYONE!
Here's the scoop - someone (maybe Lolly & Sharon) mentioned that something was distracting our eagle couple. Son just stopped in to visit (really just to get a free meal lol) but he was over at NCTC. GUARD let him in & he was along the Day Care road viewing the nest. He didn't see any fly ins or outs but he mentioned about about seeing a hawk - when I asked if it were a red tailed hawk he said no that it was mainly brown.. So what do you think?? Juvie?? Son would not know enough to ID it except that it didn't look like a red tailed hawk. BTW - Guard must have said he knew "THOSE LADIES" ! lol
Well, I'm out of here for today. I didn't get much filing done, JO. Hopefully that third babe will hatch out tonight or tomorrow. Bye. "Eyes to the nest, where life is the best."
MEMA JO--I AM WAITING FOR A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL FROM A FRIEND AT NCTC IN REFERENCE TO THE SAME--THEY HAVE A GROUP COMING IN TODAY SO DON'T KNOW IF I WILL GET A RESPONSE BACK TODAY OR NOT
Mema Jo, Your hawk could be a juvie, or red-shouldered. If smaller, maybe a Coopers. They both have brown dorsal sides & are seen in your area. Cooper has longer tail in comparison. Maybe we'll find out from Rocking's friend. Glad you liked the pics. :-)
Hey Mits, just lurking and catching up on the blog. We just won today by the skin of our teeth. Any team can be beaten on any given day. Our team is no different. Whoeer wins, so be it, is how I feel this year. Lately we haven't been playing to deserve to win. Time will tell. We can still be friends, no?
This blog is getting really confusing. We have two Jennifers, but one goes by the name of rocking cr and the other Kirine, who changed from Jennifer. I think at my age, it is time I got a tablet here so I can write all this down to get it right. :)
Naturenut - I had 2 cooper hawks this past winter come down into our neighbor's yard... They are beautiful .. Took me a while to ID them having never seen them before... Hubby said Jo get over here - there might be one of your eagles in the yard....! I think they are about the same size!
I can see Spidey's web whipping in the breeze. I hope the wind blows it down before he totally blocks out our view with webs or himself. :)
Hey, I think that I am getting outnumbered here in basketball. ;0 I'm going to have to put a stick of dynomite under the Tar Heels to make them go faster and work harder. :)
HEY NORMA, PAULA AND MITS are ganging up on me and my Tar Heels.. :) They have to beat Choppin State. first!:) I need some back up here!!!!! Hey, we lost almost every football game this fall. We need to win something.
43° here in the valley and breezy & at the nest it is 42° with 10 mph winds.. BUT Good News is that on Monday it will be Sunny with highs in the lower 50s (I'm not sure how you get highs in the lower 50s but that is what is says)
Our eagle's head is tucked under his wing as the 2 little eaglets underneath stay warm and hopefully the little unhatched eaglet is starting to peck through the shell. Maybe the eaglet wants to relate to St Patty! With all the egg rolls he should come out dancing the jig!!
Dana - that is one good sign that there is an egg. Did you watch the video that Deb found from Peggy on the ME forum? It's around 4:08 on this thread......
HEY CAROL---GREAT TO SEE YOU HERE!!!----Yesterday at the polls---every time I started talking about the EAGLES---Got kinda quiet!!!--- ----More talk of recipes!!!--ho hum!
Hey JO I am still here inbetween trying to clean and do wash. I don't know when Josh will be coming in for Easter, so I like to get most of it done early and then I can finish up once I know.
Hey MITS, There is our third name for our three eaglets. Patrick would be perfect. We had two good ones earlier for the first two.
Deb, it is ok to cheer for MSM, the little tiny school, (if they make it to Friday) against the gigantic big school....who gets all the TV time and publicity:):):):):)!!!!!
I hear you all talking about people looking at you sideways so to speak when you tell them you are on the puter watching eagles and all other animals. Their loss our gain. We aren't the wierd ones, they are. They don't stop long enough to think about anything but themselves; not any of God's little creatures. I for one don't care what they think when they look at me all excited. Poop on them or maybe a good poop shoot. :)
HEY CANDY!!!---DON'T WORRY---BE HAPPY!!---NO one is going to beat the TAR HEELS!!---ho!---I thought DUKE was beaten!!!---I know WV played Fri.--Haven't read Sat. papers!--scanned Sun.!!!---YEAH TAR HEELS!!!
WHOA HELEN!!---Since you haven't been on for a while----TAI TOLD ME:---"don't tell mits-- normabyrd---but i like you BEST of ALL"!!!!---Can you believe that???----- ho!
Paula, I just found the bracket t-shirts at Dick's Sporting Goods, my son always got them when he was younger, but the last time MSM went, no one had the bracket shirts

Hi Rockingcr ( :
Boy Belle had fluff going everywhere. Even covered herself for a second lol
She wants to keep the wind out..

Lolly - I keep the blog minimized to the left hand side of my screen, just in case that doesn't work on mine either...but I haven't had any problems
Wow - a second clutch at Norfolk!
good for Norfolk
Well I just watched the Mom at NBG (Norfolk) do the wiggle wiggle and tucking materials towards her. Contragulation to Norfolk. They in their 2nd clutch believe they have an egg....GREATTTTTTTTTTTT !!
Belle must have decided this season she wanted a " soft plush" bed lol
I just got home and missed the big event at NBG. Paula did you get a video of it?? If not I am sure someone on the Maine forum did.
A happy new beginning at Norfolk, I am so happy!

Seal Rocks lost an egg yesterday...not sure what happened - cam had been off all day and came on around 4pm. It was noticed in a video around 6ish
Rattlesnake Canyon pair lost both their eggs - they think the parents were not attentive enough to them....
Paula loved the video of the rabbit Liberty brought in. Got hubby to computer to see it..WOW weee!! Thank you just kept rewatching it. ( :
I bet they did, too, Paula. I am headed to see your poop shoot video.
I missed it the first time, but second time around I read your message about when to see it. How funny, thanks, Paula.
Lib is back!
OMG look at that fish!!!
I think they need a backup nest just for food!
He has a live catch for her. He almost put it on Belles back lol
Must be eagle Thanksgiving with all that food!
LOL ok so she isn't getting up and he doesn't really want to haul that whale up and over her. Hmmmm MTBR

OK, time to clean out the fridge, Belle!
Belle says to Liberty, "Honey I only laid 3 eggs 2 have hatched. Dear even when the 3rd hatches. You'll be a good provider. This I already know. Liberty Dear take a break. You don't have to impress me sweetheart". lol
IS LIB STANDING ON FISH? OR IS HE TRYING TO LURE BELLE OFF OF THE EGGS SO HE CAN HAVE ANOTHER TURN?
She is looking at him like "you figure out where to put it!"
NWR FEEDING--THE CHICKS LOOK SO BIG!!
well I love that we can sit here and chuckle over them having way too much food than about wondering where and what they have to eat for themselves or their little ones. WE are once again so very blessed.
Maybe Lib's trying to serve her "Lunch in Bed"!
The interesting thought is that I bet he has caught more than we see, because I haven't really seen either of them eating on the nest very much...so he has probably caught more for just him and her to eat.
Belle is up and on the back of the nest
OK fine I will work on cleaning up some of the leftovers
The tree is swaying pretty good
Lib flies to this side of the nest
Fresh for the kids and the old for the parents
He just grabbed the carp
He is munching on it while Belle feeds the chicks...it truly is an eagle thanksgiving!
Wow! looks like it's feasting time in the nest..Pretty windy here, as you can see by the tree swaying, last gust was 27 mph. Sun is in and out of the clouds.
oh yeah and then there's this rabbit here from yesterday,
They all have full tummies! Now who will do the dishes?
I think Liberty wants to feed the children the fish he brought in. Belle just keep wiggling further down onto them lol poor Liberty
Liberty flies off
Have a question of those of you who have done more eagle watching than myself. Watching Norfolk and wondering how can you tell when she is laying an egg? A moment ago when she was stirring around the camera really zoomed in close.
Both at norfolk!
Female eagle at NBG just left nest. Zooming out don't see on limg.
Lolly, the eagle will maintain a low posture position in the nest, leaning forward at times. Sometimes you will see them rock from side to side. Paula....Thanks!

Well Dana She faked us out and the rest of the world also about the 3rd egg... We'll just wait this one out.
Mema Jo, The Norfolk pair are incubating and have been for over an hour.
They are behaving as they never behave unless they have an egg in the nest cup.
I'm 100% sure they have begun their second clutch.

Eagle at LW.
Just returned from Naturenut's Nook
The osprey pictures are really good - & the sunrise... I would have been late for work that morning because of just pulling over watching all those beautiful colors in the sky!
I MEANT FOOD OUT OF EGG CUP NOT NEST--SORRY---WAS THAT OR IS THAT THE RABBIT? SHE SEEMS TO BE SETTLING BACK IN
Just got a chance to find Bob Quinn's new Photos.Spectacular!
If I could learn to be that good, that's all I would do!!
MAMA CALI TRYING TO KEEP HER LITTLE ONES UNDER HER--SHE HAS BEEN PRETTY ACTIVE ALSO
Hi Jo! Thanks for the info. So, it not's just me getting off the feed being on top.
Went and took a nap. Still nursing a back spasm. More fun! :(
I am sooo excited that you really think there is an egg at NBG!!!!
TIME TO FIX DINNER--MY LITTLE ONES ARE HUNGRY TOO! NO FISH FOR US TONIGHT, THOUGH!! :) CAN'T GET OVER THE STINKY FISH THIS AFTERNOON.
WILL CATCH BACK UP LATER
HAPPY WATCHING EVERYONE!
Here's the scoop - someone (maybe Lolly & Sharon) mentioned that something was distracting our eagle couple. Son just stopped in to visit (really just to get a free meal lol)
but he was over at NCTC. GUARD let him in & he was along the Day Care road viewing the nest. He didn't see any fly ins or outs but he mentioned about about seeing a hawk - when I asked if it were a red tailed hawk he said no that it was mainly brown..
So what do you think?? Juvie??
Son would not know enough to ID
it except that it didn't look like a red tailed hawk. BTW - Guard must have said he knew "THOSE LADIES" ! lol
Well, I'm out of here for today. I didn't get much filing done, JO. Hopefully that third babe will hatch out tonight or tomorrow. Bye. "Eyes to the nest, where life is the best."
MEMA JO--I AM WAITING FOR A FOLLOW UP PHONE CALL FROM A FRIEND AT NCTC IN REFERENCE TO THE SAME--THEY HAVE A GROUP COMING IN TODAY SO DON'T KNOW IF I WILL GET A RESPONSE BACK TODAY OR NOT
Let us know what you hear for sure.
MEMA JO-- I WILL. MAMA CALI IS FEEDING I THINK--SHE HAS HER BACKED TURNED SO HARD TO TELL.
BE BACK LATER--HAVE TO FIX DINNER!!
Back...Hee hee Jo "he know them ladies" lol lmbo
Mema Jo, Your hawk could be a juvie, or red-shouldered. If smaller, maybe a Coopers. They both have brown dorsal sides & are seen in your area. Cooper has longer tail in comparison. Maybe we'll find out from Rocking's friend.
Glad you liked the pics. :-)
Love your pics, Nature:)
Hey CANDY if Mount St. Mary's University wins their game on Wednesday night against Coppin State....we get to play your team on Friday.
Don't beat up on us too much:)
The only team I can't stand and will not be rooting for is DUKE!!!!!! I hope they go down early, but probably won't.
This blog is getting really confusing. We have two Jennifers, but one goes by the name of rocking cr and the other Kirine, who changed from Jennifer. I think at my age, it is time I got a tablet here so I can write all this down to get it right. :)
I take it we still only hae two bobbleheads in the nest yet. The two cuties at BWE have been out alot today. They are sooooo cute.
Yes Candy, we will still be friends:):):) No matter who is playing I always cheer for the under dogs....yes, still two chicks and tons of food:)
And now we have Jo's son over there disturbing our nest.:):) What else is going to happen?
Glad to see that Carol made it into work to take a weekend peek at our nest and that NBG has one new egg, and hopefully more.
Oh geez, there goes my dryer buzzer, BB
MITS I just wish they would throw that old ripe fish overboard. BB
Naturenut - I had 2 cooper hawks
this past winter come down into our neighbor's yard... They are beautiful
.. Took me a while to ID them having never seen them before... Hubby said Jo get over here - there might be one of your eagles in the yard....! I think they are about the same size!
something is flying over the nest
doing the eagle roll
eagle up and digging
back down
don't know when the last time they ate, haven't been watching that much today
Wow - I missed the selections....will have to gry and catch up on them!
I haven't been watching much, just peeking in now and then...college kid is home...that means I have to cook!
Yes, Candy, we will still be friends after we whup your butt! LOL (wishful thinking!!)
Paula, MSM and Coppin State on Wednesday night
Up and checking - still see an egg, or at least the top of it.
LOL.....Paula, chance of a snowball in hell
Any new happenings at the NEST?--Noticed she keeps checking----
both Eagles NBG
I can see Spidey's web whipping in the breeze. I hope the wind blows it down before he totally blocks out our view with webs or himself. :)
Hey, I think that I am getting outnumbered here in basketball. ;0 I'm going to have to put a stick of dynomite under the Tar Heels to make them go faster and work harder. :)
HEY NORMA, PAULA AND MITS are ganging up on me and my Tar Heels.. :) They have to beat Choppin State. first!:) I need some back up here!!!!! Hey, we lost almost every football game this fall. We need to win something.
BWE It's dark now - Do they know where their mom or dad is??????
A parent has returned to the nest at
Blackwater. Nesting over the eaglets now. Whew ! That's a lot off of my mind.
43° here in the valley and breezy & at the nest it is 42° with 10 mph winds.. BUT Good News is that on
Monday it will be Sunny with highs in the lower 50s
(I'm not sure how you get highs in
the lower 50s but that is what is says)
Candy Where Did You Go?
They didn't do you in already,
did they?
Well so far eagle is staying in nest at Norfolk.
Our eagle's head is tucked under his
wing as the 2 little eaglets underneath stay warm and hopefully the little unhatched eaglet is starting to peck through the shell.
Maybe the eaglet wants to relate
to St Patty! With all the egg rolls he should come out dancing the jig!!
Candy is doing the laundry, Jo
Dana - that is one good sign that there is an egg. Did you watch the video that Deb found from Peggy on the ME forum? It's around 4:08 on this thread......
I was hoping that our last egg would hatch today.
if it hatches tomorrow, can we call it Patrick:):):)?
Jo ist's going to hatch remember we kept waiting for Spunky to come out of the shell too.
I usually root for the underdog, also, but I think I will wait for this game to be over, before I doing any cheering. lol
HEY CAROL---GREAT TO SEE YOU HERE!!!----Yesterday at the polls---every time I started talking about the EAGLES---Got kinda quiet!!!---
----More talk of recipes!!!--ho hum!
I forgot to post that when I typed it, am definitely going to bed earlier tonight than I did last night.
Yep corned beef and cabbage tomorrow...and ham and easter eggs next Sunday
HEY CANDY!!!---DON'T WORRY---BE HAPPY!!---NO one is going to beat the TAR HEELS!!---ho!---I thought DUKE was beaten!!!---I know WV played Fri.--Haven't read Sat. papers!--scanned Sun.!!!---YEAH TAR HEELS!!!
I agree poop on them....but no one wants to talk about them.
OK, Norma....I'm telling Tai Shan you are being mean.
HEY NATURENUT!!---Where are you pics posted?
WHOA HELEN!!---Since you haven't been on for a while----TAI TOLD ME:---"don't tell mits-- normabyrd---but i like you BEST of ALL"!!!!---Can you believe that???----- ho!
Norma - click on her name and go to Naturenut's Nook blog!
Speaking of poop -
Hey Jo did you watch the poop shoot video? :)
No, I can't Norma:):):)!
NORMA, I think that WV made it in. They play Arizona in the West bracket. American U made it too. They play Tennessee in their first game.
I saw you and Candy talking earlier, Mits. That's when I checked the TV and saw the selections had been done...
Gonna have to go find a bracket thingy to print out!
Luv ya , Candy!
Paula, I just found the bracket t-shirts at Dick's Sporting Goods, my son always got them when he was younger, but the last time MSM went, no one had the bracket shirts
