I e-mailed Lisa yesterday because I was so worried about them and the female eagle. She said the mother needed to eat and they hoped that is what she was doing. Back at BWE.
I keep waiting for an osprey to come in, I have just seen the pictures posted so far. Osprey have just been reintroduce to SD, don't get to see them too often.
I did, they were great pictures. The females are so striking with the neck like that. The only one I have seen close up was a male, didn't have the necklace. Otherwise I have just seen them flying.
Paula, I enjoyed watching "Evening Stretch" too. Our adults are used to perching to sleep, so I bet it is not easy for them to keep the position on the egg cup for long hours... anyway, thanks for your Videos too! You and Glo both do a great job of keeping us all up to date!
They are awesome birds. I got to go on a banding expedition at Nature's park last year. Lisa from BW went also...was a really neat experience. Did you see my pics from that?
You can see the color on the live feed better when the clouds are out....it's not real brilliant, but you can see some green and the yellowish of the beak
Hi Deb. No. I have dial up. Just have the picture with the 30/90/two min. refresh! I did check out the live feed at work when no one was looking! That was amazing. It actually was a video someone had linked of Belle feeding the chicks!Too cool!!
You are right, Lolly, just look at the different places those of us who blog are from. Who knows how many are watching and not blogging! Steven has a map on the main page that shows where people watch from. It is covered with dots.
thanks, Deb, I remember vaguely, Sharon calling me when I was in the hospital, thought she was telling me about 3rd egg, must have been under the influence of pain meds...:)
i was the one that saw bell lay the 3rd egg and reported it , it was an exciting time i was so shocked i didnt even get a pic right then but it was fast also
Have you ever been to Blackwater. I am looking at the Osprey cam and wondering if the nest is in a marshy area and then is that a river in the background in front of the trees?
Ok, thanks, Paula. I was looking at the map from their site and was trying to get my bearings from where the nest was situated. I really enjoyed the banding pictures. What a wonderful experience!
Does anyone know the incubation length range of bald eagles. I think I've read the average is 35 days, with a range of 33 to 37 possible. Does that sound right?
There was a real good picture of the nest in the album, Paula. it shows the Visitor's Center in the background. That helped me map it out! Thanks, again.
Hi Gang! I've been away for most of the day, and just read the blogs. Y'all are funny! I love the name of Brutus for #3. He/she will need a big tough name and a big will to live!
Thanks Paula! That's good. I was just thinking that if indeed the first egg was laid on the 4th, it took 38 days to hatch. Thought that might have been kinda long. Was thinking maybe our two ckicks were eggs 2 and 3, hatched at 36 and 33 days. Hope not! We want 3 chicks!! Guess we'll see soon enough.
I somehow got behind you, you describe it and I sit and wait for it to happen. I must have goofed it up when I rewound it once. I will have to reset it later when nothing is happening.
Deb, I tried re-winding several days ago, and it messed me up, so didn't even try....but something had gone on, and think they may have put the fluff on the chicks to hide them....eagle just took off
I just do quick ones, because I know you will have the good long ones up!
I had to go watch Opening Ceremonies for the State A Boys BB Tourney. Students from Red Cloud were going to perform the Lakota Flag song, so I wanted to see that. It was good, three age groups, High school, middle school and elementary, all male.
No, it is called SnapZ, a program for Mac's. I tested a bunch and this one did the best job for me. One day I will experiment in editing them, but will get used to step one first.
I don't think you notice the fish when the sun is shining on the nest during the day. I think they are still remnants from when Lib went on his fishing trip when the eggs were first hatching.
Yes, Jo, we are pretty sure it was the Easter bunny, or at least a close relative!
When you see it live, you miss some of it. It is nice to watch it over and catch the details you missed the first time around. I didn't realize how long it took Lib to stop panting.
Hi everybody, hope everyones evening is going well. I got allot done this afternoon and now going to take it easy. I hurt the knee. Karen you mentioned before that you could hear seals at PH. I saw a program on the island and it stated it has a very large population of elephant seal.
#2 son came over and planted azaleas for me. Cant do the shovel with the knee. I got 5 plants at the dollar store. We will see if they make it. If not I tried. Everyting is so green and beautiful but it wont be. When you guys get your spring I will be fighting heat and trying to everyting alive.
One of the neatest things was talking with Megan on the train trip and she explained the different trees and bushes along the way. Its always been a love of mine.
what confuses me is why they havent thrown it out of the nest. Why are they keeping it? If they dont want it I wish mama bwe could get it. I have been watching her and she is a single mother.I feel for her. I have been there.
Hi rockingcr - I sure did. I also saw Mama Cali's 3 white fluff balls lying in a heap when she took a break last night. Mama Valmont (CO) One of her two hooties was peeking out from under her trying to get mom's attention. Cutest little face!! & I know she was being very noisy. Thanks for the heads up
#3 son put me in a single sink 10 inches deep in the kitchen and I love it. It fits a baby or a dog just fine. all I have to do it sanitize it. its great.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 507 Newer› Newest»BW chicks have been left alone a lot today.
I saw your post, I just wanted to see where it was, You can see it now. I am not good at seeing spots on it.
I think he dropped a fish on her, or next to her. she jumped up and drug it out of the bowl
I e-mailed Lisa yesterday because I was so worried about them and the female eagle. She said the mother needed to eat and they hoped that is what she was doing. Back at BWE.
Looks like Dad to me at BWE
I keep waiting for an osprey to come in, I have just seen the pictures posted so far. Osprey have just been reintroduce to SD, don't get to see them too often.
Chicks at BWE are eating :)
Did you check out naturenuts pics? The osprey have returned to the Patuxent River park.
I had to ask what they were, the first time I saw one. I really liked watching them hover over the water, then down they go.
Thanks, Iris.
BW babes finally covered up!
Belle is napping!
They are awesome birds. I got to go on a banding expedition at Nature's park last year. Lisa from BW went also...was a really neat experience. Did you see my pics from that?
Which reminds me, I never loaded my videos of that day to that album...
Eagle at Kent 2! You can just see the tip of its head right now.
No, i didn't are they in the momsters albums? Eagle moved to Kent 1.
Feeding time again
Can see egg. Looks pretty whole to me
May be me, but I only see the one chick and the egg.
Come on, eaglet #3, it's time to see the world!
The one is flopping like crazy. The second chick is partly hidden by the fluff.
At Patuxent river park - I don't have the video in there, I'll have to try to remember to do that
Osprey banding pics
Did you see the chick all of a sudden pop up! Too Cute!
I see the 2 day old chick, but the 2nd chick I see now looks like it is brand new..... so where is yesterdays chick
And now it just fell over...aww Mom got it a snack...these guys are just too funny!
guess that 2nd one is the chick from yesterday, looks more wobbly today, than yesterday
That was both of em, Mits...newest one was on this side of the egg.
That was more like a snack...guess the 2nd one was still full and sleepy!
I am up to Friday nights' posts now...
You can see the color on the live feed better when the clouds are out....it's not real brilliant, but you can see some green and the yellowish of the beak
Ok, I'm outta here...gotta go to Walmart, then home...catch ya'll later!
still b and w here.
Me. too. I had a little green yesterday, but it didn't last long.
Did you see the Kent eagle was in the nest a while ago? it was there about 10 minutes between the two cams.
finally have caught up on posts since thursday a.m.
Popping in to say I am headed out to mass.. All looks quite in the nest bed! TTUL
from reading posts and Lisa's pic, I am delighted the osprey have come back to BW:)
our eagle is up
Both eagles in NBG, I wish they would stay. It is funny to see them checking out the squirrels.
eat, flop, eat flop, etc.
Are you all sure the third egg is still there? Got on about 15 or 20 min. ago and the first time the picture refreshed, saw nothing but chicks!?
You can see the top of the third egg, it is mostly covered by nest fluff.
Welcome, Mike. Are you watching the live feed?
Never mind. Picture just refreshed. Belle/Lib up and feeding the two chicks. I can now see part of the third egg. Sorry!
They get their tummies full, then start pecking at each other. Typical siblings! lol That 3rd egg is really deep in the cup!
It is hard to find sometimes in all the grass and stuff they have around the egg cup.
As I was watching this feeding, I got this mental picture of folks all over the world glued to the monitor. :)
they keep us guessing, Mike
Hi Deb.
If you can watch youtube, click on Paula's name, then go to her blog. She has some really good videos.
hey Deb, there is an eagle in the Libby Dam nest
does anyone remember how many days between 2nd and 3rd egg hatching?
Thanks, opening it right now.
it can vary, AJ, depending on when they 3rd egg was laid. I think this one was the 6th or 7th of Feb.
Just went visiting. Tesoro eagles look huge! BC seemed quiet, eagle on nest, Maine has snow and looks and sounds soooo cold!
The second egg was laid on Feb. 6, hatched on March 14. Third egg was laid on Feb. 10
Lake Washing ton eagles are in the nest.
well it could be several days before this one hatches , dont you think?
I had to go check Paula's list, I couldn't remember either, Helen.
thanks, Deb, I remember vaguely, Sharon calling me when I was in the hospital, thought she was telling me about 3rd egg, must have been under the influence of pain meds...:)
Eagle at BWO.
Yes it could, AJ. Would be nice if it is sooner, so they are closer in size.
yes, AJ.
I don't have pain meds as a good excuse, just plain forgot!!
that eagle will not be visiting the BWO nest too many times, now that the osprey are back in town
i was the one that saw bell lay the 3rd egg and reported it , it was an exciting time i was so shocked i didnt even get a pic right then but it was fast also
Have you ever been to Blackwater. I am looking at the Osprey cam and wondering if the nest is in a marshy area and then is that a river in the background in front of the trees?
That's right, I remember now, AJ. You were there for the first hatching, too, right?
yes i was i always watch hwe at night well i have to go bye all bbl
Just rolled the player back to catch the feeding...looks like Belle ate a bit also....
That 3rd egg will be 35 days tomorrow
BW has lots of marsh around the cam, but they also have lots of little waterways, where they can increase the water level back around there
Deb - you might be able to see them through that Picasa link....I think I have some BW albums in there and also on the yahoo group
Ok, thanks, Paula. I was looking at the map from their site and was trying to get my bearings from where the nest was situated. I really enjoyed the banding pictures. What a wonderful experience!

feeding again

back down on chicks
Hi Gang! I've been away for most of the day, and just read the blogs. Y'all are funny! I love the name of Brutus for #3. He/she will need a big tough name and a big will to live!
Mike - I have heard 32-38 or 39
OUr first egg was 38 or 39, second was 37
My Osprey videos are on youtube...
Deb - Here are the banding videos. They are pretty short, 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 minutes
Day old Osprey chick
Banding video
Those hatching times match up well with the 2006 season.
Gonna go take the dogs to the park and throw the tennis balls...BBL!
That day old chick is sooo cute. It was sure chirping away! I was enthralled with the pictures, the video is awesome.
Gotta go. Break time's over. Two crying toddlers just woke up from their nap. Hope the third egg hatches soon! See ya
feeding at BWE
both eagles at NBG
Nice fish at BWE. Both eagles in NBG. Male brought in food for female.
our eagle is up again
not feeding them, just sitting there.
second one flew in
oh dear, brought something in with legs....protein
that is one tired eagle that just flew in, wonder if there was a fight to get what it wanted
with all the commotion, chicks got covered with fluff can barely see them
eagle is still out of breathe, looking up at the sky.
I somehow got behind you, you describe it and I sit and wait for it to happen. I must have goofed it up when I rewound it once. I will have to reset it later when nothing is happening.
Deb, I tried re-winding several days ago, and it messed me up, so didn't even try....but something had gone on, and think they may have put the fluff on the chicks to hide them....eagle just took off
the mystery food is at the 1 o'clock position
I wish we could hear this part, I wonder what is going on.
Eagles left NBG. I wish they would end our suspense and lay an egg.
eagle in nest ducking down watching sky
The back legs are really long, maybe a rabbit??
when I saw it come in, it looked heavy, could be a rabbit
Both eagles in BWE, I hope this is a good sign. He has been around more yesterday and today. Looks like she is eating.
I have a little clip loading of when Belle was moving it. They take forever to load, so I keep them short.
both eagles BWE
Wow - what a flight up from the right! Could see him coming all the way!!
MIGHT BE INCOMING AT THE NEST, eagle just ducked and said something
It has 4 legs! LOL
Hmmm. rabbit would be appropriate for easter week coming up!
Here kids, something new to taste!
Sorry - I was commenting on the rewind!
Mits - you just have to try the rewind slowly...move it a couple of minutes at a time until you get used to it.
You can see the egg
woo did you see that,,,just chased something away
checking things down under
wonder if there are vultures around that would like that carp
Had to rewind again! Think the chicks are fighting under her...her wings came out real quick and she sort of jumped
Hmmm gonna have to look at that again!
I put up my short version of the dinner that Lib brought in on my page,
Cool Deb - I am saving a longer version now,.
I'll have to wait till my movie is saved...takes too much out of this machine to do 2 complicated things at once!
Are you using Snagit, Deb?
thanks, Deb, that was some big time mantling when it was brought in, eagle was plumb tuckered out
Up digging and a pretty wing stretch again
I just do quick ones, because I know you will have the good long ones up!
I had to go watch Opening Ceremonies for the State A Boys BB Tourney. Students from Red Cloud were going to perform the Lakota Flag song, so I wanted to see that. It was good, three age groups, High school, middle school and elementary, all male.
Neat Deb, looks like he barely made it into the nest with that catch! Mantling big time for a short time too!
No, it is called SnapZ, a program for Mac's. I tested a bunch and this one did the best job for me. One day I will experiment in editing them, but will get used to step one first.
My cam is either freezing up on me, or Belle is not moving much.
I shut down everything and started over, it is working better now.
Belle snatched that rabbit as soon as he brought it into the nest...he looked quite hot and exhausted.
Eagle at LW.
Here's the long version
Rabbit for Dinner!
when I left I saw 1 fish and 1 rabbit.....do I see 2 more fish now??
It really wasn't the easter bunny - right?
Back from mass - extra long being Palm Sunday celebration.
See our eagle with head tucked under.
I don't think you notice the fish when the sun is shining on the nest during the day. I think they are still remnants from when Lib went on his fishing trip when the eggs were first hatching.
Yes, Jo, we are pretty sure it was the Easter bunny, or at least a close relative!
OMG Paula... that is an awesome capture!! My daughter saw the rabbit and left quick LOL! She has a weak stomach. *giggle*
Good evening to my friends of fine feathers!! Been out and about all day and just got home. Going to read the happenings of the day. BRB.
that was awesome, Paula
I was wondering about that Deb...thanks for the clarification.
HELLO MISS SHARON:)
When you see it live, you miss some of it. It is nice to watch it over and catch the details you missed the first time around. I didn't realize how long it took Lib to stop panting.
It is nice to see extra food at BWE tonight.
MEGAN, is going to be unhappy that it was the EB, there goes her chocolate.
I was concerned, poor thing looked like he needed a drink, bunny must have given him a chase and a fight.
LW eagles are having a long visit tonight.
Hi everybody, hope everyones evening is going well. I got allot done this afternoon and now going to take it easy. I hurt the knee. Karen you mentioned before that you could hear seals at PH. I saw a program on the island and it stated it has a very large population of elephant seal.
Glad you're home Sharon & hope you enjoyed your day.
Hi, Sharon and Anne. Hope you didn't hurt your knee too bad, Anne.
Make sure to watch Paula's video, posted at 8:01 pm.
Thanks to Mits for the bunny alert! I was at the park with the dogs....
Been on the phone playing catch-up with a girlfriend...gonna see if I can do any other videos from today.
THANKS to you and Deb to identifying what it was, I just knew it had legs when it was hauled into the nest:):):)
Oh I got Paulas video. Super , thanks so much. I still can only get PH on the islands. Cant get the other sights. really funny.
just throw some Miracle Grow on them Anne.
Oh my, have to do the fish guts video!
Oh I do. I love the stuff.
glad my stomach is better this week, Paula, might want to put some kinda of warning on that fish gut video:)
One of the neatest things was talking with Megan on the train trip and she explained the different trees and bushes along the way. Its always been a love of mine.
I could use the fish guts in my garden LOL
there you go....good fertilizer
Maybe someone can ship that nasty carp to you, Anne!
Hey its an idea. Remember my new guy is in the nursery business.
After watching all those flies on the fish, I wouldn't touch them with a body suit on!
ah come on ,its just extra protein.
#2 son is going over my car and truck to make sure mechanics are ok. I really appreciate that.
Alright now, she's right, fish is good for plants. I fertilize with fish emulsion, really makes plants grow, but boy does it REEK!!
gulp, queasy feeling coming back:):)
Ahhh, the smell of rotten fish...reminds me of the beach house!
Ooops, sorry Mits!
what confuses me is why they havent thrown it out of the nest. Why are they keeping it? If they dont want it I wish mama bwe could get it. I have been watching her and she is a single mother.I feel for her. I have been there.
hey, I don't get those smells at my beach place:) Ocean City cleans up every night:)
Anne, the dad did pretty good today, nothing like Lib, but way better than at first.
High tide will take it out!
Deb I'm been watching him and I really think he is very young or sick. something is wrong.
feeding time our nest
He is small, too thin, and just not with it.
That was a good egg roll. It looks like it must be pretty windy there.

Light rain passing through here and at the nest, just a slight wind.
BBL I really must bathe Heidi. what has she been rolling in?
Thanks, Megan, glad it isn't too bad. Spidey's web is moving. Maybe it is Spidey moving it.
Thanks for the heads up
Yeah, I just walked outside, winds only 5-10 mph, and most of the heavy rain went below us.
