Howdy Folks.. what a great day Jill and i had over at NCTC .. Like she said her friend( she flirts more tham me..lol) but he is an old friend of hers called Steven and he greeted us.. we watched the live feed for couple hours... Jill took some video hope she gets it on here soon.. Was waitng for Lib to fly in but the dinner belle rang at 5pm and no Lib...To see the live feed and hear it was great.. Just heard alot of wind today but Steven says when both eagles get together they yack n yack.. He also said NCTC has paid it share of expenses for the live feed just waiting on "The Friends Of NCTC" To pay their share.. I asked if they had enough money and he said yes and was going to call them tomorrow to see what the hold up was... We met another very nice man if i remember correct David Clinger he has something to do with articles... We even spoke with the cleaning lady..lol and invited her to the blog everyone was very nice... Oh some didnt know we named the eagles n laughed.. Just to see Belle in real time was wild... she got up several times n those eggs are really deep in the bowl and she kept pulling fluff around her maybe sensing the rainy weather soon....Thanks again to NCTC for the welcome and letting us watch the live feed... Sharon if Jill didnt need to fix dinner for hubby i would still be there..lol
Conrats on the new arrival at Blackwater also... Geeez i watched all weekend waitng n it hatched out while we were at NCTC go figure...

I can see the article now saying::: The ladies of the NCTC blog had a sleep over at NCTC listning an waiting on the 1st egg of the season to hatch... Sleeping bags and snacks and a lobby full of the sounds of eagle lovers waitng for the sound of peeping from the nest...LOL

NILLA I can't get the stupid video to download. I have tried and tried. I have done it before and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. It is on the phone, I can watch it.
And I only flirt when it is absolutely necessary to get what I want. You would think after 40 years of seeing it he would be immune but.............

I have seen the BW baby since the first pic. Maybe tomorrow. I think they are supposed to have sun there in the morning.
Well, after spending much of the afternoon in email and domain name HE**, trying to fix things at work, I was just so happy to all of a sudden look up and see that baby eaglet hatching at BWE!
I have to pick the brat up from work at 10:15 or my butt would already be in the bed. I am in too. Can I bring my 4 dogs? Naw, they would drive everybody nuts, especially at 2 a.m. when they have to go out and potty! :) Buphals is the spokesperson for the other 2 boys. He makes it well known that it is time to go out.

ya know, it is not like we are casual watchers at Tesoro, didn't we watch that whole saga last year, where they would not abandon the nest even after the eggs did not hatch, and the drama this year, where it looked like they were going to nest elsewhere, the list goes on....really disappointed in them

I live in MD about 10 miles from DC and work part time at Patuxent River Park. We have our first viewable eagle nest now, but not close to Vis.Ctr. Should have our osprey cam running soon. :-)

Nature, I remember I was frustrated at first, too. After you post for awhile, you get to quit logging in (at least I do). If you ever delete your cookies, then you start all over again. I haven't had the password problem you were having, so I can't give you any hints there.

Nature, we have all had problems at one time or another Mine, like Debs, stays logged in unless I clear my cookies out. Then I have to sign in. Just make sure your password is something very very easy to remember.

Paula, This nest is close to the entrance road, up a creek. We think it is an expanded old osprey nest. I hope they're not too close to traffic. Can sometimes see top of mom's head. We assume she's on eggs

I told you the battery on my SRT-4 (which is 5-years-old today) barely cranked over last night...
Well, after charging it some last night (driving the long way to and from the market), it started easier this afternoon. But I decided to take it to Sears and have it checked anyway, and am I glad I did.
It did act like it was charging up and holding it more after the trip to Sears, but they put it on the tester for a couple of minutes, and it failed right at the end of the test ... probably would have died and stranded me somewhere soon.
Long story short ... they acted very professionally, I acted very cool and mentally competent, whipped out my Sears credit card, and I am now the proud owner of a DieHard battery with a 6 year warranty. The car starts like a brand new pocket rocket, and everyone involved is happy.

The battery in my car was almost 7 years old when it died. In the police department parking lot. Alway great when a bunch of macho guys are looking at you and asking when the last time the battery was replaced was and you say Never? Hey it was doing just fine, not a peep til I parked it that day.
Saw the video, and like someone on the clip said, "we can see there is such a thing as a live feed at Shepherdstown." Not much on viewing the eggs though....

(real story-by the time I got the camera back on video she was done showing us the eggs. Her timing is really good. LOL)

Good morning, world. OH THANK GOD!!! WE HAVE A CHICK!! I'm so glad Lady BW's first chick hatched yesterday, that's wonderful news! Had to open that cam right away to see what I could see, and lo and behold, Lisa has a chick being born sequence on there. Lovely! I was beginning to worry, chick HAD to hatch yesterday! Sure glad it did. Ok, our first local baby. How exciting!!! Oh, GONNA BE A GOOD DAY!!
Phew, catch my breath.....
Deep breath. Ok, ready now. Beautiful night out, 55° at my house, 57° here in VA!! At this hour! Hope it stays that way for a while, but this is March, so we'll see. Wow, our eagle is awake, got the glowing eyes going on. Looks long enough to be Belle, but Lib usually takes the night shift, but light is shining on tail, so can't really tell how long the tail is.
Had a baby opossum at the cat dishes this morning, and Norma, that puppy was all black. Even his toenails were black. He had a white "blaze" if that's what you call the mark on their snouts, but that was the only light color. Other than the pink hairless tail, of course, and I didn't see his belly. Bit too close for me. Anyway, turned the light on as usual, got the cat food for the dishes, and there he was. Still eating. So started to close the door and leave him for a few secs, let him go away, but here comes Kitty Tat for breakfast! Well now what? So nothing. What a surprise. Kitty Tat strolled over to one dish (I have 3 out), so I kept opening the door and talking to the cat, and the opossum kept eating! Doesn't he know they aren't supposed to like light and be afraid of humans???? This guy didn't. Finally walked out, talking to the cat, filled his one bowl, and the opossum went over behing a planter and started eating out of another bowl! Good grief. So went to the 2nd bowl and filled it, and the opossum finally took the hint and walked over by the side of the house where the birdseed it. Then I got to fill that bowl. I have Chef's Blend out in 2 bowls, and Purina Naturals in the 3rd. Seems first choice for the opossum was Chef's Blend, then he had to get his daily vitatmins, so he nibbled on the naturals. He didn't run, just sorta walked over there, and since Kitty Tat didn't bother him, I presume he went back to finish his rudly interrupted breakfast after I left. What a hoot! Just talking about those guys. But this was another small one, probably a teenager, about 8 or 9" long, not counting tail. I have a family that lives close and mom brings her babies to the buffet every year. Only saw her once, usually see the teenagers, and that's really not very often. Thankfully! They do give you a start at 1:45 in the morning. But I should have expected it, all bowls have been MT in the morning for about a week or so, so somthings been eating.
Well, now my heart has calmed down a bit, know we have a chick, Lady BW has her head down now, and has moved position, so guess she's getting chick comfy. Man, this is gonna be a good day.
All have a good eagle/panda day. Oh, she's scooting all over the place trying to get her and the chick comfy. Second one should hatch Wed or Thurs, cool, hopefully they will be very close in size that way.
Our eagle still awake and just kinda looking around. Has changed positions, but didn't turn eggs. I'm thinking that's Lib, now that I can see the whole body.

Lib is turning eggs, I can see them peeking!!
Lib's a little fussbudget this morning, still turning those eggs! Guess he can't get them the exact way he wants them!
Lib got the eggs settled, put his head down to go back to sleep, and something woke him up. Head shot up and he's looking around.
They changed the viewing times on the PA cam, ugh! Least amount of time now for image changes is 6 seconds! That can be a long time with a lot of wildlife on cam. Used to have mine refresh every 2 seconds. Get used to it, I suppose.
Don't forget your daily clicks, the counts are going down lately. Both Lady BW and Lib are sleeping.
Both BW and our eagles are awake and looking around. Maybe switch and/or food time. Oh, have to read back, did Lord BW ever bring the Lady BW anything to eat yesterday? I don't see leftovers.
Oh, switch at BW, egg turning our nest! How cool! Ok, now Lady BW looks like is turning her egg, checking her chick. Was that the Lord BW on eggs this morning? This one sure looks bigger. Maybe. Sitting down on egg, now so can't really tell. don't know who was there and who is there now on BW. Our cam locked up, oh there it goes. Eagle back on eggs. Still think that one is Liberty, but again, wouldn't swear to it!
BW eagle is up trying to get chick and egg comfy. Haven't seen chick yet, I don't think. Well, yes I have, how cool is that!!! Chick was out a little from under eagle's chest. Sure glad it's not cold out this morning, it's actually very nice. Ok, now I'm excited!!! Eagle back down.
Good morning Suz. It was pretty exciting yesterday to see the new eaglet for the first time. I was trying to figure out if it was a leaf or a baby! :)
Both eagles are awake, and BW eagles is moving grasses up by chest. Our eagle just laying on eggs and looking around.

I've had occasion to see young possums being weaned and dropped off by Mama at the cat food dishes a couple of times. And the little boogers are pretty cute at that age.
Mama was BIG, but not HUGE, and fairly ugly by that time.

I think they might have switched at BWE, no adult in the pic, but I couldn't pick out the chick. I saw the egg, two pieces of shell, but not sure I saw the chick???

Hey, good morning, Jim! Yes, the opossums are kinda cute at that age, but they sure do lose it as they grow up! That was kinda cool this morning, but the little bugger didn't want to go away.
Did you just see the chick, shells, and egg at BW? Eagle left for 60 seconds!! Very nice of them to show us the baby so early!
Hope you can get back to sleep. After knowing we have a new baby, sleep would be about the LAST thing I'd be able to do right now!

It's getting light in the East...just opened Norfolk and the second eagle was just landing on the nest... both busy making it ready now.

Thanks, Jim. You can see it if you look closely! So nice of the eagle to get off and show the baby to us. Just brought NBG up in time to see an eagle on the branch fly off. Now they're looking for him. Oh, found him in the pine tree he likes to hide in. Jim, you can't go to bed now, too much going on out here!
