There have been sharks in the Potomac Megan, just not this far north. Down around DC. Oh and a couple alligator and a manatee. (And who knows what else.)
Well, Jo may be right, because on the 30 sec. cam I have seen Belle's head move around, but not on the feed. Are you guys seeing any movement on the live feed? maybe I need to refresh.
Been watching the cam at PH. Both eagles were on the nest and daddy was rearranging the "furniture" LOL! Mom snapped at him then she got up, moved to the branch at the backside of the nest, called out something then flew off. Daddy seems to spend the most time on the nest. He must be "henpecked" or maybe I should say "eaglepecked" LMBO! Daddy rolled the eggs, readjusted the soft stuff then settled down with the wiggle.
Hey donnie! I've been watching for you. I told hubby about the Nature Preserve yesterday, and he informed me that we had already been there! But we approached it from a different direction one day, and I didn't realize it was the same place. Nice place and we'll go back. He said to ask where Betty's is in Shep?
I looked up pics of both carp and catfish. Looks more like the catfish. The carps face in more pointy. Don't see any feelers, like a catfish would have, on the fish in the nest but pic isn't very clear there anyway.
Folks say the "Catfish are bigger than that." or "Carp are bigger than that." But all fish start out small and grow. Couldn't it be a young or half-grown catfish or carp? ;-)
Potomac River - Borders between MD/WV and MD/VA. Freshwater fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass, tiger muskie, crappie, channel catfish, redbreast sunfish, walleye, and carp.
To me, the fish looks like it's laying belly-up. Is that how others see it? And, if we are looking at its underside - it looks like it has a very large mouth. I know that catfish have large mouths - do carp and bass?
That's what I see to Paula, head at 4ish on it's side - she has eaten a chunk out of the middle just back of the head - I vote for Large Mouth Bass! but that is one huge fish!!!
Could be - you might be right, PAULA. I can see that now - but, I swear, I saw it different before. Maybe it was due to a change in sunlight & shadows. Maybe - time for a computer break for me!
Speaking of whales...went whale watching a few yrs ago. Actually got to see a whale. The boats don't get close at all so you really need binoculars LOL!
I went to Hawaii last year at the end of February, when the Humpback whales were there for mating season. I went on a dolphin/whale watch cruise and got to see a male breaching and another one slapping the water with a pectoral fin. Also saw the spinner dolphins and a couple of sea turtles -- it was so cool!
Yeah, its really awesome! The whale we saw was breaching and then spouting. Then all the way back to the harbor there were dolphins swimming next to the boat...like if they were racing us. Was cool! Also, went to breakfast one Sunday on the end of the pier and walking out to the restaurant we saw dolphins jumping thru the waves. They were so playful! Would love to be able to swim with dolphins sometime.
Message from Anne at work Cat fish are in the family of bottom feeders and are most active at night. Its doubtful one would have come to the top. Carp are in the goldfish family and come to the top often. I vote on carp.
Sorry Norma, but JMHO, I'm sure a fish of that size was probably caught on the MARYLAND side of the Potomac River...tee-hee:):):), we are famous for our sea food.
I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel:) Not to be graphic, but things have stayed where they are suppose to stay the last 12 hours...just feel weak.
Eagle incubating up & off eggs Other eagle still eating Looks like wind is picking up a little Back on the eggs with a wiggle wiggle Did not roll eggs;;;
Starting on the other half of the fish End with head is all gone
If anyone has the video of the whole fish. I would like them to send it to me please...( : Didn't have a chance to see it whole. I would appreciate it ty. ( :

We have large mouth, small mouth, striped bass, walleye, perch, I think crappie, not sure about pike (I know they are at Sleep Creek State Park think they are Potomas WV side, sunfish, carp, catfish, snakehead, trout and rainbow trout (how about 24" long caught WV side potomac), may be others that I can't think of right now.
SNAKEHEAD? I thought they got rid of all of them. Aren't they the ones that crawl up on land? Maybe it's something else. Too big to be some of those Dana.
Sorry to have missed Wanda - glad you were on for her Glo - Sounds like the trip is going very well - Well enough for her not to want to come home-YET.
Thanks for posting the Feed Blitz video early, Glo.
LOL Jill you are so right hmmm shoudl I go edit it takes a long time to get that done though LOL. Well I said Thank you at the end to Liberty and Belle does that count LOL
Jill there are different size snakehead and no they coudl never get all of the out.
If anyone snapped a picture off the 30 second refresh cam. With the fish in the nest. Please send to me or put in the Momsters album. I want to enlarge it please ty ( :

HI DANA! Trip back was a breeze; not much traffic at all and we stopped in Richmond to have lunch with friends. The worst part of coming home was getting all the stuff back into the house and get the laundry started. :( Thanks for asking. It was just a little bit warmer down here too.
The barbels (feelers) on catfish do not sting. They have extremely sharp boney ends on their fins. Many fishermen not wearing gloves to remove them from hooks are regularly spiked or slashed!! We have first aid kits at Park. We just went for seafood B'day dinner---Lobster, YUM! 4 hours left to get a chick present, plz, plz.
I saw the eagle at the Libby Dam in MT when you alerted us Deb.

Good evening everyone! Good evening mema jo. It was a crazy day at work, so I didn't get a chance to get on. Just now catching up on all the posts. Looks like no eaglets yet!
Thanks for the heads up JO. I feel better. BTW is the Owl cam 2 the one with all the eggs; nine or so. That poor parent owl is having a time of it trying to keep alot of fluff balls under her and warm. I have to smile. Poor thing. It looks like she is sitting on a cloud.
Well, it seems as if all the eagle parents have calmed down for a good night's sleep. So, I think I'll get my clothes out of the dryer and get ready for a day at school tomorow. Good night all. You have a peaceful and restful sleep. Tomorrow brings a new day with new happenings.
Oh thank you Paula hope we get to see Dr. Sharpie again.
Karen which park do you work in? When I was about 10 yrs old. Bigger brother always use to tell us. The blood on our hand came from the "stingers" on the catfish. I never wanted to ever catch one again. When I did I would run to my Dad for him to take them off. Couldn't squeal on brother just said I don't like them. lol Dad couldn't understand because I would always try things.
They think they spotted Papa Cali the other evening. I am just wondering what she does with the little hooties when and if she goes out as usual in the evening. ??
She/he doesn't have her/his head tucked under now. I didn't know if I saw some raindrops or if it was Spidey's web blowing across the cam... It's still dry here in the valley.
Thx so much for the Happy B'days. Got to get up at crack of dawn, so doubt if I'll be able to do chick checks til 12M! If I can manage to get to work before time clock ticks, I'll stop & watch for our PRP eagles. Prob just see the nest as usual. Oh well, that's something to look forward to & the ospreys too! :-)
Donnie - usually my best weather report is to know what Wmspt or Sharpsburg is having - if South Mountain doesn't block it - I'll see the exact same thing. Took a look at your pics - those 2 little kids - well I would have just loved to have picked them up and taken them home with me! Also, Donnie I am an old retiree from WFHM..... Gave them 13 yrs ! Loved it !

YEAH Sharon. But I think that is breakfast lunch dinner and a midnight snack. Unless they are expecting company. LOL
Sorry Megan, that was Jo that asked the shark question.
The egg that is now near 12 is bothering her.
Beautiful shot of both adults side by side at NBG.
Never mind...
Hey MeMa Jo Don't go swimming in the river
Well, Jo may be right, because on the 30 sec. cam I have seen Belle's head move around, but not on the feed. Are you guys seeing any movement on the live feed? maybe I need to refresh.
Now my live feed is working again.
Just saw Belle tuck some fluff in close to her. Maybe she's antsy because she senses the rain that's on its way.
lol Glo That's exactly the message I got!
EGG ROLL
Didn't see a thing!

Hey, Jill you can change real player to keep up to 12 hours worth of rewind...I wasn't on when the fish was brought in
HOw do I change it Paula? I didn't see any place to change any setting.
The Norfold eagles are really beautiful with the sun shining on their feathers!

I looked up pics of both carp and catfish. Looks more like the catfish. The carps face in more pointy. Don't see any feelers, like a catfish would have, on the fish in the nest but pic isn't very clear there anyway.
Sunny
Bettys is on the main street in Sheptown on the right, after the square, about half way between the sq and the next stop sign.
(how that for not good directions to Bettys>)
My guess is a smallmouth bass or walleye
Folks say the "Catfish are bigger than that." or "Carp are bigger than that." But all fish start out small and grow. Couldn't it be a young or half-grown catfish or carp? ;-)
I like the Bass idea. Maybe a bit wide?

I think it is laying on its side, head point to 4ish, tail pointing to 8ish
I don't know what it is...
I just wish I could fish that well. (trout?)
your so fast with the info Paula... thanks
That's what I see to Paula, head at 4ish on it's side - she has eaten a chunk out of the middle just back of the head - I vote for Large Mouth Bass! but that is one huge fish!!!
Have we ever had whales in the Potomac?
BW babes in view!!
Could be - you might be right, PAULA. I can see that now - but, I swear, I saw it different before. Maybe it was due to a change in sunlight & shadows. Maybe - time for a computer break for me!
LOL Iris - whales?
Well, it was "A whale of a fish" HA HA
Those BW fuzz balls are fattening up and growing. Soooo cute!

I think it is Belle on the eggs now. And - NO - the day is not over yet.
Yes, that's Belle
I am back from picking up the dogs. No baby yet, I see. If the picture were clearer and you could see the tail, walleye have a white tip on the tail.

Hint - don't look at the 30 second cam!
hell no, not looking at the 30 second cam:):)
And don't watch BW, where they are getting a bloody good meal!

Jim
Take care Mits - Turn on a panda cam for awhile!

I too am glad it is just black/white
I think Lib brought in the fish.
Paula has it in her earlier remarks

Two eagles in a darkening Maine nest. The poor eagle sitting in the nest had been calling out to the mate, and I think that dinner has arrived. They both seem to be eating.
What a pretty pic they make with their white heads and tails against the darkening skies.
Darn. Missed Wanda and Gene. Hope they got my email. oh well Glad they are having a great time
DANA-I said I didn't remember if catfish stung. Never had the experience. And glad of it.
wonder if MAINE EAGLE is going to spend the night?
SNAKEHEAD? I thought they got rid of all of them. Aren't they the ones that crawl up on land? Maybe it's something else. Too big to be some of those Dana.
well, guess not both eagles gone at MAINE
Glo, fantastic video! Loved the music. lol Since I can not get the live feed, except for every once in a while, I really enjoyed watching it!

Eagle in Libby, Montana nest.
EGG ROLL
I SAW 2 EGGS - 1 may have been
hidden
TRYING TO SPOT THE 3rd
There goes the wiggle wiggle
Did anyone see all 3 eggs?
Three eggs still visible. Parent seems to be unsettled. Can't seem to get the right fit in the egg cup.
Yep! It's there~
Just changed position and all 3 were
very visible...... DARN IT!
COME ON OUT LITTLE EAGLET
Pulling fluff around the cup now and seems to have settled in again. The way he got up and looked at the 3 eggs, I wondered, but nothing.
Don't you think that it would be better for a hatching tomorrow when the temp. got in the 50's than the cold night now?
I told Josh before I left up there that I was going to sleep nights in his bed so I could watch our nest during the night. :)
Deer on the PA cam
Jo Has anyone sent you a picture from our 30 sec. refresh cam of the fish. That was in our nest?

Dana, you have mail
If you can't stand watching the BWE cam with the reddish meat. Then don't go to the Deer Cam now. Fox with a deer carcass.
Check the deer cam out. There is a fox or dog and another dead deer carcus.
Fox or whatever it was flew the coupe. I just minimized our cam and there was the dead dear and a bushy tailed fox, I think. Now the pic is back to the way it was; nothing showing. Maybe I am losing my mind.
Geez DANA am I ever glad that you saw it too. I couldn't believe it. Is that the same dead deer that you were all talking about earlier?

Well, it seems as if all the eagle parents have calmed down for a good night's sleep. So, I think I'll get my clothes out of the dryer and get ready for a day at school tomorow.
Good night all. You have a peaceful and restful sleep. Tomorrow brings a new day with new happenings.
Happy Birthday, Naturenut!
Raccoon in PA
Happy Birthday Sunny!
Eagle awake, looking to the left
G'nite Candy!
Howdy, Danelle!
Looks like some sort of hawk was on the dead deer earlier today.
They are going to take the eggs from the West End this Thursday or Friday.
I'll post here when I hear something more definite
Son's Basketball team lost :(
Looks like everyone is busy....BBL
Hi Paula! Thanks Mema Jo for the Heads up. GLO-you did a great job!
BBL-Jon and Kate Plus 8 is on.
Hi Danelle
Oh thank you Paula hope we get to see Dr. Sharpie again.
Karen which park do you work in? When I was about 10 yrs old. Bigger brother always use to tell us. The blood on our hand came from the "stingers" on the catfish. I never wanted to ever catch one again. When I did I would run to my Dad for him to take them off. Couldn't squeal on brother just said I don't like them. lol Dad couldn't understand because I would always try things.
Big stretch at the nest- an egg roll and back on eggs.
Don't know how many have been watching Mama Cali, the Great Horned Owl in CA with 3 eggs. Well they have hatched.

Marcia has a youtube video on the Maine Forum

Marcia
I got to see the owls on the video, but she has them hidden right now.
Rolling those eggs
They think they spotted Papa Cali the other evening. I am just wondering what she does with the little hooties when and if she goes out as usual in the evening. ??
She/he doesn't have her/his head tucked under now.
I didn't know if I saw some raindrops or if it was Spidey's web blowing across the cam... It's still dry here in the valley.
Looks like it's raining lightly there-one egg looked different, couldn't get a good look.
Our eagle is looking all around -
maybe mate is up on the limb.
I do think there is Tenting happening and I do see rain drops coming down.
Jo, just let the dog out and there is a very very light rain coming down right now. Good eyes.. I had no idea.
Thanks, Donnie. I couldn't really tell if it were rain, snow or our
famous Spidey's web! lol
Donnie, I am over here in Middletown MD - not far from you or from Megan or from the NEST!
GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE does look like rain at the nest.
Nite, Mits. Hope you feel fully recovered from that flu bug when you awaken in the morning!
It is getting a bit more steady now. No wind. thats a good thing. Jo, check yur yard next I think the reain is going your way.
Both eagles in LW.
Just one batch of showers passing thru-shouldn't be too bad.
Wow- forgot w/ daylight savings time you can watch eagles until 10pm!!
Loved it !
My deck is wet!!
