Norma, George Burns once said "I was always taught to respect my elders, now I'm at the age where I have no one to respect". Sometimes I feel that old too. lol
RED & CEIL----I remember JFK'S assassination as if it were yesterday!!!!----That is the day our world changed---(in my opinion)---then came--RFK--MLK--etc. ---I GREW UP!!---now remembering 9/11----
Interesting comment from person who was in the Pentagon at the time of the attack... She said that NY got too much media and that the memorial at the Pentagon was long overdue. Now she feels a certain amount of closure. She has a point there.

Lolly and Jack also have their train tickets for 10 the 19th. We are definitely committed now!
Sitting here waiting for the hurricane. We are expecting just rain, but really anxious for those on the coast. My sister's home will get it, but when they left (they are in west Texas in their RV) they put up their shutters. Her daughter and fiance are leaving Houston and going to their house west of Houston. My sister is mainly concerned about all her halibut in the freezer. They went to Alaska last year...came home with lots of fish they caught. They are just sitting in their RV waiting for the weather to clear to go home.
JO---I will hunt for the ticket---I remember sending it back to ANNE MARIE---(but I am most certain she returned it to me)----IF I FIND IT I WILL SEND IT TO YOU TO GIVE TO SOME ONE!!---SORRY---will get back with you!!-----& will check to see if it is still good!!
Wanda, it was very beautiful, and, somber....we had tickets from 1:30 to 2:00p.m. to visit it, but had to leave right after the ceremony, hubby had to get back to the office. But it will be an easy monument to visit. After tonight it will be open 24/7, no security necessary....just go and visit, so we will go another time:) Hope you got to see it on TV....they also had American flags in one part of the parking lot, over 2,000, one for each victim, who lost their lives that day.
Yes, I did get to watch it, Helen. I was interested in the public's remarks about the Momument, itself. I think it is beautiful. Each person that died that day at the Pentagon, has a bench and a small pool of water in their honor. Friends and family can sit and reflect on the life of their loved one.I saw a few doing that and it looked so fitting.
yes, they can, as we all can, they did not put them in alphabetical order, the are arranged youngest to oldest...the youngest was 3 years old so the bench is 3 inches high, and the oldest was 71, so his bench is 71 inches tall...also to read the names, if it is facing the building they died in the Pentagon, if the name faces the sky they perished in the plane....they are set facing the direct path the plane took right into the building
AFTERNOON FOLKS!!---What time are you all taking the train ride--10/19?-----10:00 or 2:00---I have honestly been trying to get on the blog forever!!----I ordered THE ticket for 2:00?----(bet that's wrong time---huh?)----This hasn't been my day!!
Helen, I didn't know about the varied heights of the benches. How can anyone sit on a three inch high bench or a 6ft. high one, comfortably? I guess I misunderstood the arrangements. That is a problem that I have; I don't listen to the whole report on anything...I get tired of the long-drawn out details. My bad!
JIM...thanks for the update on Buddy. I wonder if he will ever be released into the wild? He is such a sweetie. Bless those who have dedicated their lives to caring for our wild critters.
Thanks DEB & RED!----I called them back---closed at 4:00---Will call tomorrow!!!----Every time I have gone---we went in afternoon--wasn't thinking!!----what else is new?---Just been a busy day here!!
Prayers for all on this 911 Anniversary and for all others in need. Hope Paula's Mom is better & so glad to hear Sissy's Tom won't need more surgery. Hope he will feel better soon. Wonder if Megan is up to eating a chocolate donut! Then we'll know she's OK!! Was real busy at work Wed. & had to go for Xray today. Since I was all dressed, talked hubby into going out to dinner!!!! Dr. appt. in AM & then off to work! I may not be on here much!
This lurker is baking a cake for the family reunion. Then tomorrow I'll be making potato salad. Then if it rains Sat everyone can come here for Tater salad and pumpkin cake.
I believe I'm calling it a night. Although I believe I'll reserve the right to lurk every now and then, K?! LOL Hope you fine eagle momsters and dadsters have a good night. See ya in the morning light.
Thanks for the heads up Mits. I personally think they should show this stuff on a regular basis. I think we Americans get a little complacent and forget this stuff happens to us!!
I so agree with you, Sissy, they were interviewing some young people on a local station last night, and their thought process was, it is the past....I think my jaw dropped to the floor, tell that to people who lost loved ones......NEVER EVER FORGET!
Mattie said most of the kids at school didn't know what today was. That is so sad. Mattie and I watched a video someone had made from their apt. across from the WTC. It touches Mattie's soul and I want it to. I don't want to be morbid with her but I do want her to understand the magnitude as much as a 10-year-old can. And I think she really does. I think that is our responsibility to do that.
Good evening, gang. Been a long, intense day. Watched the coverage of the Pentagon this am; took SIL for eye apptmt. Ate late lunch w/ daughter, and then had bad upset tummy after I got home. THink it's just too much emotional upheaval the past two days. Paula, how's your mom? Hope she is doing better. Megan???...how are you, floral gal? Every cimmment about 9/11 is right on...can't get complacent, kids should know--even at 10!, dispatcher's were very affected, too, etc. Both of firefighter sil's were on duty that day...Shannon at Fairfax and Charlie at Air Guard, and while not directly involved in any of the action, the alerts/precautions/implications not to mention the feeling of loss in the brotherhood was profound. Great pics of Buddy...tried to copy the talon pic for Paula, but no luck. Interesting update on both him and baby panda.
Hedgie - on the photos look at the bottom for CAROL - good view of the windows as they are in all the cars. There is only 1 open car and if you look at the pic of ANNE that is where she is.
Good to see that Vicki dropped in today...but she sure didn't stay long! Hey, Vicki!! We've missed you! And Candy, we're still wondering how you are!!!
YES, SISSY it was an intense show......I'm not a morbid person either....just wish everyone will remember this date, and the wonderful men and women of the services who have fought for our freedom today, like they have for many years. But these service people of today are most special because they have volunteered their services, as Ryan said, they ain't in it for the money
Hedgie I went last year and won't go again this year. So far Lolly & Jack and AnneMarie, her brother & his wife have their tickets. There were about 9 or 10 of us last year. With my oxygen and Iris' cane we were loaded first and anyone with us were allowed to come. Once loaded my daughter went looking for the others while we saved some seats! It worked out that we were all in the same car.
Only saw it for one refresh, was definitely the tail, and the head was more in the shrouded zone....bird was smack in the middle of the nest stretched out from 11 am to 5 pm more or less... I didn't get a pic.
It was quick Sissy - wasn't sure at first but then when it disappeared I was pretty sure - just wasn't going to sound the alert until I was sure...but how could say , Oh, now it is gone! Quick Look ! ha - nothing has changed since then that I can tell..

Nest Update
09/10/08:
Folks have asked about the yellow flowers seen in the field behind the nest. Those are tickseed sunflowers.
Also, good news to report -- Duke, the young osprey from South Carolina, has crossed the Caribbean Sea and made it to Panama.
UPDATE FROM LISA
HELLO EVERYONE...beautiful dedication ceremony at the Pentagon today. Just so hard to believe it has been 7 years.
HELEN, what did you think of the Memorial?
Wanda, it was very beautiful, and, somber....we had tickets from 1:30 to 2:00p.m. to visit it, but had to leave right after the ceremony, hubby had to get back to the office. But it will be an easy monument to visit. After tonight it will be open 24/7, no security necessary....just go and visit, so we will go another time:) Hope you got to see it on TV....they also had American flags in one part of the parking lot, over 2,000, one for each victim, who lost their lives that day.

I wasn't home this morning to see the program, it sounds like it was a very nice tribute. The memorial sounds wonderful.
Norma, they made their reservations for 10 AM.
Osprey at Wildwatch!
Hello all in eagleland.
Thoughts and prayers for families who lost loved ones on this 7 year anniversary of 9/11.
Prayers always with our troops.
Hope to see some fine eagles this evening-since it is staying dark a little later I haven't been able to see Liberty and Belle for a while. :(
Hello T-bird!
We finally got a new update on Buddy.
Bluie link below....
C(°ï®¡°)D
Jim
Buddy's update
Helen, I didn't know about the varied heights of the benches. How can anyone sit on a three inch high bench or a 6ft. high one, comfortably? I guess I misunderstood the arrangements. That is a problem that I have; I don't listen to the whole report on anything...I get tired of the long-drawn out details. My bad!
Hello Eagle-Eyed Sharon. :) Hello Jim-thanks for the update.
come on Liberty and/or Belle!!!
Norma, I bet you can exchange the 2 PM tickets for 10 AM ones.
So that is what a sedated eagle looks like! Bless his heart. He has come a long way!
JIM...thanks for the update on Buddy. I wonder if he will ever be released into the wild? He is such a sweetie. Bless those who have dedicated their lives to caring for our wild critters.
Thanks, Jim. Great news for Buddy. Lets keep our fingers crossed.
Wanda, all I heard were benches and pool when they spoke about them. You are fine. You would not believe some of the things I do.
Thanks DEB & RED!----I called them back---closed at 4:00---Will call tomorrow!!!----Every time I have gone---we went in afternoon--wasn't thinking!!----what else is new?---Just been a busy day here!!
Geez, poor Buddy looks wasted:(, glad he is doing ok
Interesting update on Atlanta cub.
yeah, just saw that, was going to post, but graph didn't come out right.
Looks like an EAGLE in our nest.
I'm not sure if it is, Ceil...spidey is in the way
Whatever it is in our nest, is moving.
Maybe it is Spidey or his supper.
It's an eagle. See it's head mostly. I get so excited I forget to take a picture. Oh well.
it's not an eagle unless it doesn't have a body-i'm going with spidey's dinner
ofcourse i have been known to make a mistake or two LOL
Thelma I was just going to say or maybe not. I guess it is spidey's dinner.
I see what you are talking about, but I think it looks like a drop of water....with a face:)
Thelma, I am so bad I thought I saw a body.
I thought I saw a face....
Spidey really can cause some illusions!!!
Well I tried to get an eagle tonight.
It sure doesn't take much to get us excited, huh!?
and we appreciate that:)
I ditto that MITS
LOL I am going to call it a night before I see something else that is not there.
GOOD NIGHT CEIL......LOL:):)
Good night-don't let the bed bugs bite.
I'm off to fix a light dinner...hubby on his way home, and then there is packing...headed back to beach tomorrow.:)
later Helen
hey you lurkers-whatcha doing? :)

hadn't heard of him MITS, I'll check it out
Prayers for all on this 911 Anniversary and for all others in need. Hope Paula's Mom is better & so glad to hear Sissy's Tom won't need more surgery. Hope he will feel better soon.

There were so many heroes that day!!
Sissy I am so thankful you did that for Mattie... I can't get over the school systems not having some kind of recognition/remembrance for today
I can't either! This is a day we SHOULD never forget. I think it should be a national holiday, a day of remembrance.
You know 911 dispatchers were having the worst day as well. God bless you Magpie!!
Wow, this is really intense! 102 minutes that changed history, for sure.
Good evening, gang. Been a long, intense day. Watched the coverage of the Pentagon this am; took SIL for eye apptmt. Ate late lunch w/ daughter, and then had bad upset tummy after I got home. THink it's just too much emotional upheaval the past two days.

Still-cam frozen at 6:xx something...anyone else notice?
My still cam is not frozen, Hedgie.
Must just be mine then, Bev. TY.

Gotta call it a night-----Pleasant Feather Dreams All ;>))

I love you my eagle friends. We are blessed.
Goodnight Loretta and Bev. Blessings on all.
