Norma, last night we stood at two different feeder spots and we had 5at each area at the same time, we seem to have more hummingbirds and butterflies than ever this year.
There's a short update on Mason's site from one of the AAngels , and do keep your positive vibes flowing, hopefully he will be sent to rehab hospital this week.
Hummers are migrating now and you will be getting many many more as they pass through. Here is a pic of one of my feeders a couple of years ago about this time of year as they migrated through North Alabama.
In that photo it looks like it's at night but it was just at sundown and I think they were filling up for the night. My flash made it look darker than it really was.
Good Morning! Do I hear a panda singing? lol I do see the good ole' sun a shinning! Looks great! Thanks for letting us know that Suzanne is still a commentator for us!
Red we'll miss you & your dessert!Love your hummer pic. My daughter in TX gets tons like that around now. We normally have 3 regulars. The boy left 3 weeks ago, but ladies and others are still around.Got quite a few females here at the Park. Thx Jo for the Atlanta B'day Party link. I was disappointed the zoo didn't show much. Sent that link to Suzanne & she loved it. Sent her my meerkat link too. Put the exotic butterflies on Blog last night.
I just checked out the Sea Eagles album for today....Suzanne and me snapped different pics.....Suzanne's are great shots and I love her captions. A must see!
I just called the Atlanta Zoo to donate bamboo but found they only go within a 60 mile radus. I live about 160 miles. Maybe I can sell fishing poles. lol

MORNIN'--RED EAGLE---DANA---PAULA --- JO & NATURENUT!!----RED---Thanks for the pics of your HUMMERS!-----I bet it takes big bucks keep that crew fed!--ho!---Beautiful photograph!!!-------
Love the butterflies, Loretta. Each time you post photos of them, I get excited thinking about starting a "Butterfly Gardden" next Spring. I don't have time now...Halloween is acummin!
MEGAN!----I have had MASON & his family in my thoughts & prayers--When he goes to rehab--will that be in the area!----Didn't realize for a long time that he was a relative!!---GOD BLESS!
I am sorry RED EAGLE that you can't come to see us in October!!! If you can't come---we have been wondering if you could mail us one of your SPECIAL CHEESE CAKES?-----We will be waiting with bated breath-------
I forgot to answer Wanda earlier, sorry! These feathers were sent to me in an email (there are a lot more than this) from Ozzie, my friend who turned me onto this wonderful site and in turn blessed me with all my eagle buddies!
Thanks for pennant info, Mits. I either missed that offer, or maybe have jsut forgotten seeing it...I have absolutely no wall space left to hang anything! I do have a lovely tiffany-style lamp that has the Redskins shade...think it was Danbury.
Sorry you won't be here for open house, Red! Sure would have been great to meet you! Beautiful butterflies, Loretta! Sharon, is Ozzie still a momster/dadster? Never heard that name here before!
Dana, checked my pics again (they don't load well here) and the first butterfly in the 2nd set is not the Malachite (green) but the black, white & blue. It is a butterfly but don't know it's common name. To Wanda re: comment on meerkats---in the bottom right corner of rock is a meerkat playing in the sand. This blog makes pics appear a lot darker than normal.
Sharon, I was hoping those feathers were for sale somewhere. I have Southwest decor in my living room and they would be a wonderful addition. Too bad :(
LYNN, you mentioned an ill friend and her name was Maridel. Is she from Martinsburg? I used to know a Maridel Albright (I think that was her last name).
On the front page of our newspaper today. Is a picture/article of a gentleman that was drafted at age 18 into the service. What is exciting about the picture. Is the gentleman's name is Byrd. Where the picture is taken. Him and his wife are sitting on a couch. The wall behind them has all different pictures of birds. Different shapes and sizes of frames. The largest frame and picture in the center of all is a beautiful bald eagle. Neat huh...
Gene's Grandmother made a quilt many years ago with each state and it's flower and bird. There were only 48 states at the time. It is so pretty and it was given to me when she died. I have never displayed it because I'm afraid something will happen to it. Silly, huh?
yikes, Wanda, hey Capt....we know what Wanda wants for her birthday.
PRICES: Unless otherwise stated, paintings are $250. All pieces are fully framed, triple-matted with acid-free mats, wire-hung, with UV glass. Framing size averages around 8 inches by 18 or 19 inches, and is cut to the proportions of each feather.
If you are in need of a commissioned feather without a frame, I'll only do those for active purpose such as smudging and healing. Otherwise, you're much better off to get the framed piece, as it will survive for decades protected behind glass.
Wanda, I still have some things my Mom made for me:), including a crochet red, white and blue vest made during the bicentennial year....no way I can fit in it..just can't give it away.
Loretta they are ALL beautiful butterflies pictures!!
Megan you could be right about being needle point. I sent around an email with the link but the pic is so small. Still can recognize the Bald Eagle though. ( :
Hi all! Had a fun day yesterday celebrating Jacob's 4th birthday. all went well and we had fun. I was giving him a bath about 8:30, he looked up at me and said "Thank you Grandmommy for my presents". Melted my heart.
Today I had a luncheon, retired teachers. It was was very enjoyable. Always like seeing many friends.
Looks like I am still working as a hurricane Magnet. Ike is headed Texas way...we're supposed to go to the coast (down near Corpus this time) on Monday. Will have to wait and see what happens. Just paint a target on my back!
Either Nethy and Dashar are liking the fishing where they are, or the weather in the Channel region is still bad, because they are both moving enough to tell they are alive but not enough to be called migration.
Actually, they won;t be coming back to the British Isles again for at least two years, so I guess there's no big hurry. Much better to be roosting in a fairly warm clime and feeding up than to be blown off course to who knows where.
Oh, Mits!!!! I did not think that far ahead! Yes, bring your umbrellas, bungee cords, etc. And, I will apologize ahead of time for bringing a storm to you.
Lolly, hopefully Ike will be long gone before Monday! Of course, if there is damage, that would change your plans. Hope it doesn't happen! Could veer off towards Mexico!
Wow, Lolly, Ike should be gone, but I understand shelling is wonderful after a storm! Hope there' no big storms in Oct. at nest. Visitor just came in who is looking for areas for hiking, fishing to bring his small grandchildren. He asked if we had snakeheads!!!! Not yet! As far as I've heard they've been in streams off the Potomac.
Got a Fall Hiking Spree going on thru Dec. 12 designated trails in many Parks in this county. One is here. If I can get a second wind, might try it after work--if not, then Sat.Path is pretty close to the eagle nest!!!If you complete 6 of the 12, you're eligible to get a small shield for your hiking stick.I don't use the stick---it's bigger than I am! BBL
Loretta, I take it hubby was NOT a pol!!! What did he do at the Senate? What...you don't drive in the city??? I really don't mind doing so...it's the getting there from here that's a pain! I still know my own old routes through DC very well...and it hasn't really changed TOO much since I did it all the time. But compared to most other cities, did you know that it has the most logical layout?
That means I would have three 5 year olds right now! Heaven forbid! I find it difficult to keep of with three grandsons!
You're sharp Mits! LOL
Yes, the hurricane should be gone by Monday, but depending on where it goes in there could be lots of flooding between our home and the coast where we are heading. It will be wait and see. Going to meet my sister there. They are from the Houston area, but are gone at the moment in their RV.
Loretta, Jack and I have hiking sticks that are covered with shields! We get try to get them everywhere we go and do at least a little hiking or maybe just a lot of walking. LOL
Well, she may need her head examined, but she will probably make a ton of money off the publicity so can hire plenty of help! Better her than me, LOL!!
A 59-year-old woman in France has given birth by Caesarean section to triplets, who are said to be in good health, according to the Paris hospital that is treating them.
"Everything went smoothly," a spokesman at the Cochin hospital told Agence France-Presse. He said the babies, two boys and a girl, were delivered Saturday night
The woman, who is married to a man in his 40s, reportedly went to a private Vietnamese clinic willing to overlook the age limit set at 45 for egg donation and in-vitro fertilization, AFP reported.
But like the 59-year-old woman, age limits have not stopped other women from seeking IVF overseas.
Earlier this year, a 70-year-old Indian woman gave birth to twins after receiving IVF treatment.
And in May 2007, Frieda Birnbaum, 60, gave birth to twin boys, becoming the oldest woman to give birth to twins in the United States.
Birnbaum told FOXNews.com she underwent IVF in 2006 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The twins were delivered at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, N.J., via Caesarean section.
Monday, September 8 It was another good day and night for Lun Lun and cub. Rest came much as one might expect for a nursing mother – short-lived bouts of sleep interrupted by the occasional cub vocalizations. Lun Lun responds by cradling him closer or repositioning herself in order to keep her cub warm and comfortable. The cub is nursing well and gaining weight, and Lun Lun continues to appropriately attend to his needs.
Because of the excellent progress, the frequency of cub checks is being gradually reduced. At this morning’s 5 AM check, he weighed in at a hefty 208.1 grams; a gain of 16.6 grams in approximately 12 hours. As she has done before, Lun Lun took advantage of the break. However, once eating, drinking and other personal matters were out of the way, she exhibited great eagerness to return to the business of mothering. Debbie Forde Curatorial Assistant
Oh my gosh!! Is he the sweetest thing or what?? They said he is starting to get the black markings. I have written an email to them begging for a live feed of him and Lun again!! Please give us back the baby Panda!!
When I emailed Atlanta this morning, I was just asking for an explanation as to why they weren't doing that! Of course, I have not heard back yet either.
Just a quick check in....Mom is doing OK...will see her tomorrow ...brother and I are going to check out nursing homes...I think they are moving her to the nursing home on Wednesday...so we have to pick one out. This whole thing is a big education!
I'll get to sleep in my own bed tonight....probably stay at Mom's house tomorrow night...don't know when I'll be back on...
Hello and Good Night to Everyone...got switched to midnights for the rest of the week so probably won't be on here much...I'll be watching for all the Eagle updates though...Fabulous pic from earlier. Thanks for Sharin', Sharon!

Jo, did you see the turtle shell in the nest????
I was wondering what that was in the nest.
Dana, that first one, Malachite, is a butterfly.
BTW, I see a huge round blob near center of nest too. Have they been grocery shopping? There is a smaller round object that does look like a turtle shell.

GOOD MORNING, YOU BIRDERS.
Have a good week.
[:~)]
Jim
Lynn, he has come on here just occasionally but he is the one that sent me the link to the eagle cam in 2006. Don't think he has ever been a dadster!
Jim, If you are still here. I asked Lisa at Blackwater and she said that the flowers are tickseed sunflowers
Sharon, I was hoping those feathers were for sale somewhere. I have Southwest decor in my living room and they would be a wonderful addition. Too bad :(
Wanda, try here!

LYNN, you mentioned an ill friend and her name was Maridel. Is she from Martinsburg? I used to know a Maridel Albright (I think that was her last name).
Those look different than these though.
SHARON, thank you so much. Guess what I want for Christmas?! Or, my birthday is sooner. LOL
I love Southwest decor:)
These are more like it!

Make that 100%!!
lol...Lynn, hope she enjoyed herself in Vietnam:)

It was another good day and night for Lun Lun and cub.

Oh my gosh!! Is he the sweetest thing or what?? They said he is starting to get the black markings. I have written an email to them begging for a live feed of him and Lun again!! Please give us back the baby Panda!!
we begged them 2 years ago to give us audio......never happened
BTW...Magpie found out she has to work a few more night shifts. Hope she is sleeping now!
I e-mailed them also Sissy and asked when they would put the cam back on Lun Lun and cub. No response.
I'm calling it a day. I'll see y'all tomorrow.
see ya, Red.
Good night Red!!
Sharon emailed them this morning too. Maybe if we do it often enough, they will listen. (A girl's gotta have a dream :))
I know they tried 2 years ago to get changes but it did not happen. I am going to think positive.
When I emailed Atlanta this morning, I was just asking for an explanation as to why they weren't doing that! Of course, I have not heard back yet either.
Are you saying that Atlanta does not have the cam on the new baby new panda? I am sooo confused..70 yr old women having babies..
Yes, Megan, that is what we are saying! Cam on Buta and Yang Yang but not Lun Lun and little Luni!
EAGLE ALERT - OUR NEST!
That is unbelievable.. Has it been that way since that night they took the cub for a while to feed it?
hmmm, just got my Delta airline weekly specials....only $69.00 to Atlanta.....maybe I just ought to fly down there
yes, Megan, since last Monday.
and that's why she is called Eagle eye! I was just in sheptown looking for them..
that was fast...
Yes, right after I saw the hand reach in and pick it up that night, they have yet to have the camera back on the baby!
Thanks Eagle Eye for the pic. You click quick!
Sure wish she would come around again.
Would love to know what it is in the middle of our nest and even more so I would like to know what they are going to do with it!
Buta is sacked out on the edge of the trapeze thing she lays on. She looks so uncomfortable, but she must not be. Spends alot of time there.
Sissy - where are you watching Buta?
Sissy, how are you getting Atlanta?
Sissy - are you just checking to see if we are alive and alert??????
