I will camp out also for homemade fried chicken. Have not done that in awhile. Jo, I love grilled cheese with tomato on it. If I am in a diner I always order grilled cheese my husband says you can have that at home, but it taste better when I don't fix it. Red I love shrimp.
I had never had grilled shrimp until I discovered this little cafe. Now I grill my own a lot but theirs is the best. I guess mine would be called bar-b-que shrimp as I do them on the charcoal grill.
Hope your chicken gets there soon, Megan. The shrimp sound delicious, Red. My grilled cheese with left over homemade potato salad was great. Yes, Ceil, I love a thick slice of tomato with mayo on my sandwich also! The price on a grilled cheese in a restaurant keeps me from ordering but they do taste better then home grilled.
I make a good grilled cheese. I use real Mayo and Kraft Delux cheese slices Spread butter on one side of bread and put in a skillet on high temp burner. While first side is getting brown I butter the othe side. When Sandwich is finished it is golden brown but very buttery.
Evening everyone! BIG Blog today. Was real busy at work, but lurked a little & definitely looked at Babylanta!!!! I wanna go down there and hug him too! Maybe Wanda has some Panda costumes we could rent & pull off a raid!!!! Too tired to cook, but am hungry & have 2 steaks thawed out, so I've got to pop them in the broiler!! Yum Yum, but not on the low cholesterol diet---nothing is! BBL
09/19/08: As we mentioned earlier, we've had an immature turkey vulture on the nest. And here is a photo of the adult. Notice how the adult has a reddish head and a white tip at the end of its beak.
Although the vultures sometimes sit on the platform, they've never tried to nest there.
That's the kind of thing my daddy would do with my mom's mom!! Silly things that made everyone laugh, and brought tears to Grams' eyes! She loved him like a son.
You guys are making me hungry..I'm moving on to chocolate ice cream. Hedgie- I did have gloves on today, if that's what you were refering to. But these staples have been in for 7 years, and were very difficult to get out- it took me several days to get them all, and I have blisters on my fingers where I was holding the pliers.
Yes, I still have lots of hummers here, some are really fat and I have seen a few really small ones, they are males, young ones, they don't have all their red on throat. They will all be gone soon, it's getting so chilly at nite. Then I will be very sad:(:(:(
Poor Meg...wonder if you had sprayed them w/ WD40 if it would have been easier?! Wanda, goota admit, I don't like to share my pumpkin pie!! So I always bake an extra just for me!!!
No, they were stapled into batten tape, which is thick plastic, most had to be pried or pulled out. 48' GH, and a staple every inch down both sides, and across the top front and back. Been putting the job off for weeks, but have to cover it before it gets cold, or you can't work with the plastic.
Grease your hands up good w/ Neosporin (as long as you aren't allergic) tonight and wear white gloves to bed! Blisters should feel much better in the morning...and don't pop them! Let them break on their own.
Not this time, he was working, and I am stubborn, so I did it myself. Have to get it ready to be recovered then he will help me do that. My motto is, if I can do it myself, then I will. Besides, he seemed to think I would need lots of help to get it done, so I had to prove him wrong- I am woman, hear me roar!!!
Well, Hedgie - not as much progress the last two days...they were thinking at least another week, she's still on the ventilator....about ready to call for an update...
Well, they had to give Mom the BP medicine again...low BP...hoping to wean her off of it again through the night - she's been on the vent all day...still has some fluid on the lungs...they will try again tomorrow...not big steps back...just small ones.
Bless her heart, she has, hasn't she Paula. I used to take pneumonia kinda lightly, thinking antibiotics could fix it, until I had it myself. That is some tuff stuff Paula. Your mom is obviously a fighter. God is in charge!
It is a rough road, Paula. Nobody realizes how many people still die from pneumonia. And it is much more serious in an elderly person than in a young adult. Prayers still going up for her, you and your family. Night, Sissy...even tho' you are probably already gone. Yes, I think they do put food out in PA.
Good Evening...I am been busy getting some things in order........ Looks as though our raccoons left the PA woods and went to the Okie Bird feeders!
Megan that sounds like a major job you are tackling! Thank goodness you scheduled it when the rain was not in sight! Are you at Markets this weekend or getting ready for the Pumpkin Patch? Lots of MUMS for sale in front of the grocery stores and at nurseries. Will you give the link to where you will be going to us.
I have done the nightly snake search; not under the bed, not in the covers or under the pillow, not under the dresser or chest of drawers, so, I guess it is safe to go to bed (light stays on til he's found!).
Is everyone aware that there's a vaccine to prevent phnuemonis now. Anyone over 65 should have it.
Can Pneumonia Be Prevented?
For some causes of pneumonia, yes. The pneumococcal vaccine is safe, it works, and one shot lasts most people up to 10 years. People who get the vaccine are protected against almost all of the bacteria that cause pneumococcal pneumonia and other pneumococcal diseases as well. The shot, which is covered by Medicare, can be a lifesaver.
I'm quite sure I missed EVERYONE tonight...but just in case, Hello to anyone who's still around! Never got a chance to get back on after finding my red clothes....car battery died on me at grocery store, so I am $83.00 poorer...but don't have to worry about car not starting again, as it failed me twice this week.
Good Health and Rest Wishes to Everyone..
xo On for a bit, checking cams and emails...and waiting on the Sea Eagles.
Sissy is hooked on Pix PA! Yay! (That rhymes....)
DEB gets the prize for seeing our beautiful Eagle Friday evening...! xox
Yessirree, I am the last one on all right...just went through the day's blogs, and had a good laugh with all the snake stuff! Been watching a nice 8-point buck at PA woods, and Hooded Crow at Finney's nest. Guess it's time to batten down the hatches, after one more little thing..
I lied, I am still here. Had to do an email to a sibling.. I don't have snakes, but a very delicate and feather thousand-legger just marched across my computer table....
Its larger parent was "slithering" up a nearby wall last night!
I watched Lun Lun and baby late last night, after I signed off. Lun was nursing and bathing baby, so I didn't get to see very much. But I could see enough to see baby is getting his little black saddle. It's going to be so much fun watching him grow up.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE.....MARGY I'm not the miracle woman...I just sent you the instructions...PAULA AND DEBtaught me how to do it, they are the miracle ladies
Good Morning, Helen. My Mom had the pneumonia shot, twice and got pneumonia three years ago. She was only in the hospital for 3 days, so maybe if she hadn't had the shot, she would have been sick a lot longer.
MITS - Okay, you are the MIRACLE MIDDLE WOMAN ! I feel like I've almost entered the 21st Century now!
Friends are participating in an Alzheimer's Memory Walk starting at 9 AM (walk starts at 10) at War Memorial Park in Martinsburg, going to head over there for a send-off. Should be participating...but cannot due to a work commitment....this illness touched my life severely with first my mother, then my young sister. And many of you others on here as well I'm sure... So Cheers for the Walkers this mornings.
Heading out for bit. Good Beautiful Saturday to everyone in all our feather and fur corners, here and abroad !
September 19 Mei Xiang and Tian Tian have been spending a few hours each morning together for the past three weeks. It is as though nothing has changed when they are reunited after their long separations. Silent play is followed by long naps in their respective enclosures. What a treat it is to watch them so active and engaged!
They usually start out eating bamboo side by side. Mei Xiang always reaches over to take Tian’s choice piece of bamboo, forcing him to find another piece. After eating, the play begins!
It is not unusual for them to use the trees, as well as the deadfall in these tumble and wrestling sessions. Both Mei and Tian solicit play by bouncing up into the air, their heads tossing and paws waving, until they make a solid landing on the other’s body. They usually tire after one or two sessions and then they go their separate ways. Lately, Mei Xiang is back to napping on the side of the grotto in yard two, while Tian Tian rests inside the grotto in yard one. Some of the rotten deadfall has met its demise under their recent antics and will need to be replaced. Meanwhile, the rotten wood is great for scent anointing, a sort of panda perfume.
While the adult pandas’ activity and appetites have improved, Tai Shan is still rather inactive, consuming only small amounts of bamboo. During the summer months, the pandas become lethargic and reduce their bamboo intake. Gradually, they pick up their appetite during October and November. This is also the time of the year when we see the pandas graze on the grasses in their enclosures. Tai was observed eating a paw-ful in very slow motion, before losing interest in it.
He was moved to yard one this week so that he could investigate the adults' scent and observe their activities. Tai quietly investigated their scent marks, occasionally vocalizing with just the softest chirp, before taking a long nap.
Red - I never knew there was a pneumonia vaccine until I read about it last week when I was reading up on pneumonia. I only thought there was a flu shot. I'll make sure my Mom gets that as well as the flu shot. They think she may have aspirated (inhaled) something into her lungs to cause the pneumonia, they're not sure. Pneumonia is way worse in someone w/ emphysema, which my Mom has.

I bet sssssheee is..it's Friday. My wonderful MIL is bringing me fried chicken. I am waiting patiently.
Megan - the flowers on your avatar are beautiful... What are they called?
one of these days, I am going to plant myself right on your front step, Megan, and wait for that fried chicken;)
I'm going to the local cafe again and having grilled shrimp. They are so delicious. I normally cook dinner but Fridays is eat out time.
That is asclepias- 'butterfly weed' It is an annual variety, gets about 4-5 feet tall, and quite large. It is the plant monarch caterpillars eat.
now where can I get fried chicken down here??????
Ok, but if you sit on the front step, the hummers will dive bomb you..
I'll take my chances:)
I will camp out also for homemade fried chicken. Have not done that in awhile. Jo, I love grilled cheese with tomato on it. If I am in a diner I always order grilled cheese my husband says you can have that at home, but it taste better when I don't fix it. Red I love shrimp.
Have a good evening everyone. Will try to get back later.
I had never had grilled shrimp until I discovered this little cafe. Now I grill my own a lot but theirs is the best. I guess mine would be called bar-b-que shrimp as I do them on the charcoal grill.
If she doesn't bring it soon, I'm gonna pass out...took my meds an hour ago, they make me nauseous, or maybe it's cause I was watching the news...
LOL Megan. News can do it too.
yeah, I think it was the combination of meds and news...got to change channels.
I'll BBL
I make a good grilled cheese. I use real Mayo and Kraft Delux cheese slices Spread butter on one side of bread and put in a skillet on high temp burner. While first side is getting brown I butter the othe side. When Sandwich is finished it is golden brown but very buttery.

DEER AT PA
just ran away...
Did you find some chicken, Mits?
sadly, no, Paula...so I just fixed some plain pasta..no sauce, cupboards are bare here
osprey at WW
and of couse the egg is still there
Raccoons at PA.
That is sssso ssssad, because the fried chicken was sssssso good..
I don't know what I want, so I'm just munching on some chips.
:(:(:(, I'm sure it was, Megan:(:(:(
I would bring you some if you were closer...
tee-hee.....open your door.....just kidding:)
Paula, You promised you would take care of yourself...chips won't work.
yes, Paula, at least have some veges with them...like onion dip.
Try a baked potato with some cheese and salso on it. Quick and nourishing.
Helen, you are bad!
Have a grilled cheese sandwich.
I know, Wanda;)
DON'T PUT SALSO ON IT...TRY SALSA!
Gene is bad, too. He tells me he doesn't have any fun if he is good!
Speaking of BAD...check out what Gene is doing to my Mom on Wishes.
that is why I like, Gene:)
awww how nice of him to be so helpful:)
Oh, Buddy, you sound so sad....why are you crying?? Breakin' my heart.
Paula, you are a brave soul!
Megan, aren't you wearing gloves???
Not right now I'm not..
We laughed so hard at him and Mom, I thought we would be asked to leave the restaurant. She is such a good sport!
what fun you must have on these dinner nights:)
how is your grandson doing, Wanda?
Gene is good sil!!
Dustin wasn't with us tonight, but Karla says he is doing really well. Goes to hospital in Dec. for a check-up. Energy level is much better. Thanks
That's the kind of thing my daddy would do with my mom's mom!! Silly things that made everyone laugh, and brought tears to Grams' eyes! She loved him like a son.
Lynn, Mom thinks so. Remember, she gives him a whole pie and only a piece to me!
Well, they were multigrain chips...no dip!
I had a good lunch, fish and fries!
Aaaha..multigrain.. healthy chips.
Paula, you crack me up.
Actually, had too much fried food at lunch, tummy really doesn't want anything else...
Paula, did you ever get your garden finished?
Showing a bit of favoritism, huh, Wanda?? Was it his favorite kind?
Shoulda had a V8!
Had a yummy dinner last night....mashed potato, italian sausage and cheese quesedilla - corn ones at that...
Of course, Lynn. Peach.
Yes, Wanda, it's been done...just haven't posted the pics...
When he goes to Hunt Camp, she bakes him a pumpkin pie. She gives me a piece to take home. This is true!
Don't forget, Paula. We'd like to see it.
Made with corn tortillas that is.
Gotcha, Wanda!
Megan, I haven't seen a hummer for 2 days. Are yours still around?
Yes, I still have lots of hummers here, some are really fat and I have seen a few really small ones, they are males, young ones, they don't have all their red on throat. They will all be gone soon, it's getting so chilly at nite. Then I will be very sad:(:(:(
Poor Meg...wonder if you had sprayed them w/ WD40 if it would have been easier?!
Wanda, goota admit, I don't like to share my pumpkin pie!! So I always bake an extra just for me!!!
Of course I meant on the staples, not your finger!!! LOL.
Paula, any idea how much longer they are going to keep your mom in ICU?
No, they were stapled into batten tape, which is thick plastic, most had to be pried or pulled out. 48' GH, and a staple every inch down both sides, and across the top front and back. Been putting the job off for weeks, but have to cover it before it gets cold, or you can't work with the plastic.
Did hubby help you with this job, Megan??
Grease your hands up good w/ Neosporin (as long as you aren't allergic) tonight and wear white gloves to bed! Blisters should feel much better in the morning...and don't pop them! Let them break on their own.
Gonna take my book and head to tub to get warmed up! Not crazy about this cooler weather, but it is saving on electricity!!
Megan, I hear that roar loud and clear!
Lots of coons in PA.
Well, Hedgie - not as much progress the last two days...they were thinking at least another week, she's still on the ventilator....about ready to call for an update...
Ok, I am new to the PA cam. Do they put food out there in front of that camera to attract the animals?
I still have hummers galore at my house. I know they will be leaving soon though.
Paula, I have been praying for you and your family.
Well, they had to give Mom the BP medicine again...low BP...hoping to wean her off of it again through the night - she's been on the vent all day...still has some fluid on the lungs...they will try again tomorrow...not big steps back...just small ones.
It's been a real balancing act trying to get everything right...pneumonia sure is nasty stuff.
Hang in there, Paula, I know this is tough for you, never easy when a parent is ill.
Mom made a comment when she went into the hospital that she hadn't been hospitilized before...she has really made it up with this time!
Thank you, Sissy.
I haven't had a chance to really tell Mom how many people are pulling for her...maybe this weekend I can tell her.
Bless her heart, she has, hasn't she Paula. I used to take pneumonia kinda lightly, thinking antibiotics could fix it, until I had it myself. That is some tuff stuff Paula. Your mom is obviously a fighter. God is in charge!
Well, my wonderful eagle/panda/varmit buddies, I am outta here. Night, night, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite. See you in the morning lite.
I have had pneumonia the last 2 winters....no picnic...:(
Putting the dog to bed, and I won't be far behind. Pleasant dreams for all, and God bless us every one. G'night.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
I guess I missed you Thelma, but hope you have a nice weekend. Give Buddy an extra pat for me.

Got to see Baby Luney for a second this morning.
