Thanks Mits and Steve. As I said on comment #200 on the other thread -

I LOVE STINK BUGS!

MITS said...

NO YOU DON'T:):):)!

MITS said...

They remind me of prehistoric animals:):)

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Okay, maybe I don't. I just scooted a dead one out the back door. Dogs stepped on it. Thelma gets about 10 or more in her house every day. Wonder what their purpose is?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Little Luney is getting to be quite a mouthful for Lun Lun.

By the way, Beverly had an appointment and will be back later.

MITS said...

they exist just to annoy us....JMHO!

MITS said...

and they crunch when you step on them....yuck:)

awwww how cute Lun and Luney

Halyomorpha halys (Stål), the "Brown Marmorated Stink Bug," was accidentally introduced into Allentown, PA around 1996 from China or Japan.

The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug feeds on a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and other host plants beginning in late May/early June including peaches, apples, green beans, soybeans, cherry, raspberries, and pears. Damage to host plants from the Brown Marmorated Stink Bug is typically small necrotic areas but ranges from leaf stippling, catfacing on tree fruits, seed loss, and transmission of plant pathogens.

During the summer the stink bug produces offspring that survive the winter as adults by entering houses. They enter houses through cracks in windows and the foundation and may be seen in large numbers during September and October. Due to the noxious odor produced as a defense mechanism, the stink bug causes a nuisance to homeowners. Since its introduction into Pennsylvania, it has established itself as a potential risk to agriculture as well as a nuisance to homeowners and has been steadily spreading throughout the eastern United States.

MITS said...

hmmm, thought it ate screened windows:(

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

So, that is a BM stink bug, huh?

MITS said...

roflmbo....Sharon, guess so:)

Hence, the smell...

For those who missed my comment (#200) on Sunday's thread....

**GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY**

Fog was forecast for this morning in So Cal, but it has turned to light rain with occasional thunder in the distance. [:~D]

W. site says it's supposed to get to 82°, but for now it's cooled off.

I'm glad you liked the puzzle, and thanks for all the compliments ... not too bad for a nineteen-year-old, which I was last year. Remember??

Have a good day... Think I'll take a peek and see how well the bail out is working.

hedgie said...

Oh, Megan...you are funny!!
Jim, guess you saw where the bail out was voted down.
I have been trying and trying to organize my pics in Picasa.....I am so confused. I can't seem to move folders into exisitng albums, and if I move pics from one folder to another it doesn't take them away from the old one....if I try to delete from the old folder it deletes them form everywhere. Any suggestions, photog pros??? I have a headache from trying--it's been hours!

paula eagleholic said...

Thanks for the new thread and the update, Steve!

got to go out again..bbialw:)

paula eagleholic said...

Hedgie - the help section??? I don't do any picture moving once they are in place in Picasa...but I do find that if I move them through regular windows copy and paste or move feature, picasa will pic up the changes next time you open it...

MASON UPDATE

Lolly said...

Helloooooooo! We are back home. Had a fantastic time at the beach. It was very interesting to say the least. We went to Port Aransas which is by Corpus Christi. The beach was covered with debris from Galveston. Along with vegetation there were TV's, Sofas, chest of drawers, tables, photo albums, coffee makers, unopened bottles of beer, coke, milk, etc. plastic chairs, plastic every thing!!!! shoes, staircases, docks, signs, railroad ties, lumber, etc, etc, etc. It was soooo sad! We saw this Monday night and Tuesday. It rained Tuesday so we went to the State Aquarium in Corpus. Tuesday night I told the others "I have to do something. Let's go to the beach in the morning and do our part." The others were all for it. We cleaned about 1/2 mile of beach, picking up what we were able to pick up. The city of Port A had crews picking up larger stuff. They took our garbage bags and piles of "stuff". Buy the end of the week it was surprising how clean the beach looked. The water was beautiful, clear as could be. You could wade out and see your feet in hip deep water. I loved it! We had good food and great time visiting with sister Sharon and BIL, Dan. The weather was beautiful after Tuesday, not too hot....just right. Pleasant to sit out any time of day and cool in the evening.

We have now unloaded the trailer, cleaned it and will take it back to storage for a short while. Will get it back here at the end of next week to start getting ready to head east. Wahoo!!

Did I miss anything? Jo did you send out anything more about the open house? I do not plan to go through all of last weeks blog!!!!

Wanda, have you found your snake?

Lolly said...

Hi Anne Marie! I am also excited about going east!! Look forward to meeting everyone.

Hey, and we LOVE grits. Jack is from Georgia and he introduced me to them long ago. We eat them for breakfast frequently.

wvgal_dana said...

Hi Lolly sounds like you did "volunteer clean up" on your trip. Jo sent an email out about the food.

Hi Anne Betty's use to serve breakfast all the time. Maybe they don't anymore. That's a question someone will have to check out.

Lolly said...

Right on, Mits!

The last post off of Loch Garten Ospreys: Posted on Monday, 29 Sep 2008 at 5.29 pm

Just got the data - as of 3pm today (29th) Nethy was 50km NE of Rennes (France) and Deshar was still flying, he has missed the Azores. He was at an altitude of 500m and has so far flown 1978miles (3185km). The facts are now clear - on his current course the next landfall is 2470 miles (4000km) away in Suriname,South America - that distance is 3-4 days away.

I will post a more detailed blog with the satellite data tomorrow

Anne-Marie said...

thanks Mits for the up date.

Anne-Marie said...

Lolly did you get your tickets for the train. Its wonderful

Lolly said...

Yes, we have our tickets. They are in a pocket in the van.....ready to go!!!!

Anne-Marie said...

Lolly you have got to see Sharons house. It dates back to the 1700's and the town looks like something off of a p0ost card. I was raised in the west and had never seen anything like it.

Lolly said...

We will be getting there the evening of the 16th. That will give us time to rest up and nose around a little on Friday.

Anne-Marie said...

thanks Dana for keeping us informed. I am so lost having my computer go on the blink.

Anne-Marie said...

what are you eating sat night. I had the crab cakes last year and they were great...

hedgie said...

Welcome home, Lolly. Glad you had such a nice trip. How generous of you to volunteer like that...it must have been sad discarding peoples' memorabilia.
A-M, don't know the restaurants in S'town well enough to know what's open for breakfast. But they sure have some nice ones for dinner!

Anne-Marie said...

apparently Victoria doesnt have as many secret's as she thinks she does.

MITS said...

Everyone sounds so excited about Open House. It makes me smile to know that our little corner of WV makes so many people happy. The foliage should be beautiful and of course, the company is OUTSTANDING!

I do not eat breakfast out in our town very often, but do know that Shoneys in Martinsburg serves GRITS, plain and with cheese. The cheese is VERY good, and yes, the plain does taste like cereal.

movin said...

I saw that report on Deshar and Nethy too, Dana...

She appears to be in good shape, but it looks like something went wrong with Deshar's navigation system. He was on the wrong course from the start, and it would be a miracle if he could make it now.

Too bad, but I don't think anyone knows what's going wrong or has any idea of what to do about it.

ceil said...

Welcome back Lolly. I have kept this neighborhood back and front clean for years. I am sure we will find Jack and you some good grits.

Red said...

Here's something that will help you with first time grits eaters. Lot's of butter, salt and pepper is needed. Just plain grits are sort of bland. Take it from a southern boy. Also everyone should go to a Cracker Barrel for breakfast at least once. Best breakfast in town, anywhere.

ceil said...

I love Cracker Barrel Red. When my husband and I travel we stop at lots of Cracker Barrel. Love their corn bread.

wvgal_dana said...

Jim I must say you really got me interested when you posted the first "tiny url". I thank you..it is great to look at the map and follow these two osprey.

I know Jim Deshar has been off course so to speak. It's hard to believe all that way and no land fall. David on the Loch Garten Osprey page said "he has been wrong about Deshar before on making it". Surely hopes he is wrong again!!!!

Mema Jo said...

I have returned and I need to read from 5:00 until now.... I do see that Lolly is home and that AnneMarie's computer must be up/running........

I'll be right back after catching up on the last 2 hours

YES SIR I DID GET BUCKEYES

Costume Lady said...

We stop at a lot of Cracker Barrels, also. They love Campers and motor homes and we love them! Their parking lots are always full not matter where we are or whatever time of day it is.

Costume Lady said...

JIM, do you think there could be something wrong with the navigation system?

wvgal_dana said...

For those coming to our area of Martinsburg. The Friends of the Norwalk Foundation just brought back "the last classic car that was manufactured in Martinsburg in 1914". It will be on display for anyone to see on Oct. 12 North Mall Foxcroft Ave.

Photo here now Classic 1914

MITS said...

Cracker Barrel is the best...the only time we ever had problems was one up in New Jersey.....Ceil, can you remember the city?

wvgal_dana said...

Jim in reading it has been known for Osprey to land onto a ship. So many on the blog there are praying Deshar finds one. I'm sure you too Jim have read that. They say his device that sends back information is working fine.

hedgie said...

Jo, don't oversate that sweet tooth!!! They are yummy, aren't they?
Cracker Barrel has always been one of my favs, too. Looked and found that Bob Evans also has grits. Anne Marie, we have both in Martinsburg, which is just a short ways up the road from S'town.

paula eagleholic said...

I want to know what a buckeye is, too!

Mema Jo said...

PAULA COMPTON

You googled it the last time I
mentioned it - you even put the
entire description!! Remember it
looks like a Buckeye but it tastes
like chocolate covered peanut butter!

Mema Jo said...

Hey Sharon - I have a jar filled with 123 Stink Bugs and they are
coming your way! lol

Mema Jo said...

MITS - I threw the apple out in the
yard for the bunny rabbits...

He knows I have them - they were on his credit card - Hubby just doesn't know how many I have eaten.....

paula eagleholic said...

LOL Jo, I thought we had discussed it before....off to go google...

paula eagleholic said...

I remember it now :):)

The buckeye confection, made to resemble the tree's nut, is made by dipping a spoonful of peanut butter fudge in milk chocolate, leaving a circle of the peanut butter exposed. These are a popular treat in Ohio, especially during the Christmas and NCAA college football seasons.
