You know, we haven't seen the uncovered egg yet, maybe Belle was hiding 2. I saw her when she flew in. She landed at about the 6 O'clock spot, flew over to the 12 o'clock spot and then directly onto the egg cup. Never saw the egg.

She is going to keep us guessing but I tell you, I am so grateful to see her in that nest. Last night my heart started racing, started sweating. I am really praying for a better eagle year than last year (better year all the way around really).
Just looked back at the AM picture that Steve sent, and there it is, our 1 little, beautiful egg!

Morning, all again! Sharon, if she saw Belle fly in, the poor egg was unattended for a very long time! But I'm glad she's back now. IT's not freezing out, but it's not that warm either. And the wind has sure picked up!

It kind of looks like subtle lines going through the pic. If so, that might explain the flat-sided egg.
SUZ, they have both been looking at that egg since it was laid as if it had three heads. So maybe they do know something that we don't.

Maybe the eagles are just as confused as we are, Sharon.
It seems they incubate it, but not for long. Like they are trying to, but maybe they sense something is wrong with the egg.
Think I'm with you, Sharon. They have both been back, but neither is too interested in sitting on the egg. It was showing a few refreshes ago, but now looks like it's covered. Guess we'll find out for sure around the beginning of March (7-11ish) when it should hatch.

Just heard from Helen's sister. She said she just heard from Helen and she is doing well. She said to keep praying and pass this on to everybody!
I think my biggest concern at this point is the fact that the egg probably wasn't turned during the night.

Observations over the last few minutes - Belle was incubating the egg. Liberty brought in a fish and left. Belle is eating the fish. Maybe that is what she needs to get another egg out!
lol We always said that they were Too Full To Fly! You may be right that she will sit in that egg cup & give us ONE MORE EGG!

Yes Sharon I think that is what has happened too. Belle has been in the nest, it is Lib coming and going. Maybe just Maybe she is restless. I would say today is our last chance for another egg and even then its gonna be pretty tough on a younger sibling.
OK cup off tea is gone I am off to shovel some more. argh.
If she laid the egg the morning of the 4th before cam came back up. Today would make 2 days between lays. Remember good boy "Spunky" was 4 days and he survived.
Also just read a note on Maine forum by Joe Foreman who is one of the photographers from Norfolk....he says sometimes they stay off the egg some intentionally to slow the incubating process so that hatch time is closer for second or other eggs. All sounds promising.
As far as the look of the egg. They have brought in more grassy material this season than last. I believe the egg shape is from the grass around it. The grass causing the different look to it.
I believe because of the bad weather they has last season. They know that the winter is going to turn. So they have put the cup deeper and lots more grass. That way when laying on the egg/eggs. The snow can't melt into the cup. As we had last season.
Yes mother nature can spin us a differnt story. We can DO NOTHING but pray.

GLO, what you just said about slowing the process to let any other eggs catch up makes a lot of sense. That makes me feel better.

Maine looks like a winter wonderland, but cam may be disappearing shortly. Sea already has, as has some of the tree...covered in snow, and it's still coming down!
Tesoro parent sitting with chicks. Paula, I've been trying to watch NBG off and on all morning, and still haven't seen the 2nd egg. And it kinda makes your stomach flip flop a bit!
See our Belle is back on the egg and mantling. Guess it's raining there. Cloudy here and windy, but no rain yet. Everyone coming in says it's 70° outside, but I was out an hour ago, and with the wind, sure doesn't feel like 70! But we'll see when I go home. Back shortly to say good-bye for today.

This morning (my time) when I saw the MT nest and no egg I got a fright! I came straight to the blog and caught up on what was going on. The tension actually gave me a headache!
But all is well now and we have calmed down, haven't we? lol
Geula, I have calmed down but with a little skepticism. Last year definitely made me gun shy!
