GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE.

iT'S still dark out in So Cal, but it will be a beautiful, sunny 89° at its zenith today.

Hope you are battened and tethered down for the big wind. Good luck.

Morning Jim. I think Baltimore is going to get more wind than rain. When that happens the Inner Harbor floods.

Wonder how Candy is this morning. Looked a little rough down there on the weather channel. 70-75 mph winds. That ain't nothing to brush off!

magpie said...

Hi Sissy -
I hope we hear from Candy too...guess it's not the best computer weather for her right about now, huh?

I don't think any of us saw any of OUR eagles this morning...
And no Sea Eagles, just a few Hooded Crows in Finland awhile ago.

BWO has a eagle on the perch: It is a very slow refresh there, been about 20 mins already..SUITS ME!

xo Back in a bit, getting some mail ready to mail...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
I would like to say that it is good to be home, but it isn't! We had to cut our trip short by two days. We didn't want to get stuck in Va Beach if the Hurricane was a bad one, so we headed out Thursday evening after dinner. Took our time getting home and pulled into Martinsburg last evening at 5o'clock, just in time to go eat crab legs with GeeGee.

ceil said...

Welcome home Wanda and Gene, Sorry your trip was cut short. Glad you are home safe and sound.

MITS said...

Welcome home, Wanda:)

ceil said...

Aww beautiful picture of Tai sleeping in the rain. Nice close up. Bear can sleep anywhere. Sounds like me.

floralgirl said...

Glad you're home safe, Wanda:) Sorry you had to come home sooner than you wanted to.

Wish I could sleep that sound:)

Mema Jo said...

Good Morning Everyone in Eagleland Seeing you all on here brightens my day already!

I know that GeeGee appreciated your coming home in time for Crab Legs.
I was going to start hollering for you today if you weren't home ahead of the storm. Praying for Candy & all along the storms paths.

MITS said...

from the looks of the radar, Jo, this look like more of an inland storm than coastal...go to weatherunderground.com and put in any place you want to see in their search engine than check all the neat radars, and storm trackings

It is a little warm and humid in Balmore this a.m. They expect flooding at Fells Point and the low lying areas around here. Mason's on the 4th floor so I think we'll be alright. Mason had a great night last night, no spikes! This is the longest period since he's been here with no incidents, knock on wood. Let's keep it up and get him on the road. Along thoses lines, please notify me or Sylvia if you are planing a visit, we are trying not to introduce any new infections .

The nurses are great in this new wing for Mason, but we have to keep up with the music, their tastes might not the same. Some of the music we play doesn't even have words!

Don't forget to check on the Shepherd football game today (see the journal entries of the last few days) and The Greene Turtle event Monday.

Keep the basements dry!

Love Brian, Syl, Mason and family

MITS said...

it is so nice to see and hear the rain:)

ceil said...

There is or was a Green Turtle in Fells Point.

Dana was looking for the Birthday Party pics from Karla's birthday, we all searched and find they are Gone...You had said Sunday you were going to send pics on to your family after posting...

Can you put those back on ?
She really wanted to see them !

Welcome Home, sorry you had to cut it short...good decision, but unfortunate circumstance.

Have a Good Safe Day All, stay home if you can !

Mema Jo said...

Ceil I think the Fells Point Green Turtle is still there - at least according to the web site.

Electricity is blinking

I may get lost..... You'll know why

Bob Quinn said...

Well, I didn't win anything at the Pleain Air photo contest. There were some really good photos entered. I thought they did a pretty good job selecting the winners.

I'm actually at the gallery now. I volunteered to staff it for the morning shift. Pretty lonely. Not a single visitor so far. It does give me a chance to study the photos. I'll have a better idea next year of the elements that go into their top selections.

Raining here in Easton but the weather is not too bad so far.

ceil said...

Sorry to hear that Bob. We would have picked everyone of your pics.

magpie said...

BOB - You are always a WINNER with us...maybe next year we can be the judges !

Enjoy your Day. We are watching an Eagle at the BWO Osprey platform, he looks very soggy !

xoxo

MITS said...

that's ok Bob, we still like you:)

Bob Quinn said...

He does look soggy.

It's killing me that most of the wildlife drive at BW is still closed. You can see the OCam platform from a distance but you can't get close enough for any decent photos. I might have to resort to photographing people. Heaven forbid!

NillaWafer said...

Yup Magpie buckets and blowing from the north side ways.. crazy huh? lol Mits the Fells Point Festival is October 4th and 5th always go down for it.. Go to Harbor and take the boat over.. MITS said...

I have never been to the Fells Point festival:(

Costume Lady said...

BOB, sorry about the contest. Was it a first time entry for you? Good thinking on your part to study the winning photos, now you will know what the judges are looking for. You know that we love ALL your photos, don't you? I'm still waiting for another FOX photo to go with mine that I got at the Open House last year. I bought two beautiful "woodsy" frames while in VA. Beach to put
my fox photos in. I guess you don't see fox as often as eagles and osprey. I can wait.

Costume Lady said...

Margy, about the birthday photos: I copied and pasted them to e-mails to those at the party who wanted copies and then removed them from my blog. All my blogs were getting crowded with photos that didn't need to be on there. I will see if I can bring the KARLA photos back up and post them again.
I don't know how else to send photos to friends any other way: if I e-mail from Picasa, they arrive as JPEG numbers and then the recipient has to download each one. This is a more friendly way to receive photos...

Bob Quinn said...

Wet flowers is an excellent idea!

This was my first contest of any kind. It was definitely fun. I'll be trying my hand at more of these in the future.

Haven't seen any more fox that close up. That day was a rare opportunity to see all the kits rollicking around.

NillaWafer said...

Mits it is a good time and they have alil park and chairs and i always try and see a band from Louisianna that cajun music people dancing its great and bands that play our kind of music from the 50's n up.. They jitterbugg and have a fun time..

NillaWafer said...

Jitterbug now theres a word i havent used in a long time... Oh those were the days of Sock Hops and slow dancing close.. Ahhh if only we could turn back the hands of time.. What would you want most?????

NillaWafer said...

Unless something changes the weather channel just showed the projected path for Ike and its going to Louisanna again!! I sure wish my daughter would move back this way she lives right out side of Laffeyett (SP) in the middle of the state.. her husband works on oil rigs in the Gulf..Worry once again..

Mema Jo said...

Bob, I know you must be very disappointed in those judges NOT being able to see what we all see in you photographs. Maybe you're not a Blue Ribbon to them BUT we sure don't feel that way. WE EVEN INVITED YOU TO DINNER WITH US - & you know where that is! (((HUGS)))

Mema Jo said...

Nilla - did they close down the oil rigs when Gustav came through.

hedgie said...

Good rainy day folks!
Wanda & Capt., glad you are home safe and sound...I-95 closed north of Richmond due to downed power lines.
Bob, so sorry you didn't win anything. But you and your pics are winners to us!
Been raining here since midnight...Inwood, too, Margy and Nilla....did it just start in town a little while ago? Or had it stopped and then restarted?

Mema Jo said...

Once it started here, Hedgie it hasn't stopped. Slowed down but then down pour would start up again.
No wind to speak of yet......

They are calling the path of Hanna the I95 Storm. Says it is following it right up the coast until it shoots out to sea

Mema Jo said...

Taking a break

NillaWafer said...

Jo they always shut down the rigs and send the men in land .. but not always home. They send them to like Texas to work..She has rode afew out by herself.. Katrina they didnt get out in time and stayed thru that also.. He wants to move back this way but they just bought another house and she graduated from LSU and going to school once again to be a lawyer.. She is a CPA now and graduated top of her class on deans list.. Oh i dont know where she gets her smarts from..lol They are both career people and no childern in the future...

movin said...

I remember the 'jitterbug' and the other sounds and dances of the swinging era very well, Nilla.

That was "The Greatest Music of the Greatest Generation" indeed!

There's still a station or two that carry it on-line around So Cal; and there are some that 'stream' swing and jazz on-line, in case you feel the need for either a fast 'jitter' or a slow, close dance.

...or buy a CD. There's a lot of it on CD now.

I wonder how many of us are here today because of a slow, close dance. I know my parents met at a dance just across the border in South Dakota ... could have been Sioux Falls.

And they even danced to the sounds of Lawrence Welk a time or two before he became nationally known.

They ought to bring back close dancing and such...we were a much more civilized people then.

Altho it's been raining, have birds at the feeder and some of the reg. pigeons under it munching away.
The young lady I mentioned, Sienna, that was suffering from lymphoma passed away in early Aug. I said that the next eagle I saw I would name for her.I saw one flying out of the trees at Park a few weeks ago & called it her name. That was a Sat. & the next day, Sunday, an all white dove/pigeon was at our house!! Chills or what?? I'll put it on blog.
