Osprey just flew into Finney's nest. Sure wish we could take pics this year, that was awesome! Oh, wings out getting ready to go again. No, just stretching wings or scaring something. OH 2ND OSPREY ARRIVED!! Oh cool, both parents are back. First one still in nest, so I presume they're his parents. Both hanging around.
They're both standing there, but both kind of have their wings up and out a little. Can't see their chests, so don't know if we have males or females or one of each. 2nd one that flew in still has wings kinda up. Now that one turned around toward the one that was in the nest. Both looked at cam, and now both are defensive positions and looking out. Guess time will tell.
Good grief, I'm talking to myself! 2nd osprey that arrived is sleeping standing up. Must just be getting back from migrating home. Oh, took off, and other one is looking way up. OH, now I get it. Mating time. So...that was the female in the nest, the male just arrived, and now he's mating. Alrighty, then. We'll have eggs again this year! Cool.
off to get coffee, going to be 85° here today, up until 2 weeks ago I could get Finney's nest, now I can't, must be part of the conspiracy of the fws.gov
Good morning, Helen. I don't know what to tell you or Norma about Finney's site. It's the same addr I was using last year, and I've been checking it for about 3 weeks. When it opened the other day, Finney's pic was gone, and said wait loading in Finnish and English. Then it just came up. It has a different look this year, and some different sponsors listed on the side, and you can not take pics (grrr), but it loaded. Norma, if you have the site up but no nest, what are you seeing? There is no home page, just the nest. Is it loading? Helen, do you get an error message?
NBG switch, one flew off. Norma, I don't know what to say. Do you have a grey screen where the nest is supposed to be? That's what I get when I first bring it up, then it tells me loading or whatever, then the nest comes up. I'm sending you an email. Tell me if the writing you see on the left of your cam is the same as what I'm sending you.
Helen, I have too. I don't know why mine would work and yours doesn't. Who else watched this nest last year? Did Dana? Can she get the cam up, or do you guys know? How bout Ceil, did she watch, and can she get it to come up?
SUZANNE---When I open yours--DON'T GET that----BUT down at the bottom of your page--on left---WORD [galleys]---(when I click that it brings up the same writing on my left as on yours!!!---make sense?
Both are in Finney's nest, and the male is just flexing his wing muscles. Has them in and out. And out again. Maybe this is a new male, and he's trying to impress the female. Or it's a new female. Who knows. Maybe they're just getting reacquainted.
Ok, Norma. When I bring up the site, I have the ads on the left and a grey screen. You can see the nest through the "screen" but it tells me to wait loading or whatever. It does take a sec or two to load, then the writing goes away, split second later the nest shows. Big wing flaps by male just now. Anyway, I only have the one screen. Background this year is grey, ads on left, and NO writing down at the bottom. Remember last year they had dates and whatever happened down at the bottom. This year nothing. Also this year the screen is way bigger, it takes my entire monitor!
http://www.saaksi.fi./
Try to cut and paste the above URL. Ok, Ceil can also get the site, and she's watching too. Oh, male bringing in a stick. Man, how cool, wings out, feet holding stick. Now they're both looking at it deciding where to put it. Ok, he's gonna put it and she's looking at the cam.
That's making me crazy now. Cannot understand why you can't get it! I know you used to, so why can't you get it now? CO babies are all lined up looking at parent. They're adorable.
Good Morning Suzanne, Wanda, Norma, Mits, Jim, Dave, Megan, Delphia and Watchers. ( :
Oh Suzanne I thought you was watching the Finney nest on the water. As I watched it I didn't see any Osprey so I couldn't figure out where you were? lol Your watching the nest on land. Got it ! ( :
SUZ---I worked on it last night & thought---(CAN'T HANDLE THIS ANY MORE TONIGHT)---Please don't worry SUZANNE!!---I believe it will happen!!---ho! sometime?
Norma, the Mass was beautiful, the crowds were wonderful, it was an easy time getting to the Mass. Of course we got to the stadium at 6 in the a.m......No coffee, got hot chocolate, as hubby reminded me, this is a baseball stadium, and the vendors could not make the coffee fast enough. We saw a young priest that we have known for years, he was our sons' soccor coach back in the early days, has spent most of his time down in El Salvador, and is now stationed in SE D.C.....
When the POPE arrived it gave us goosebumps, he has such a gentle kind face, and you could tell he was happy to be there. The music was beautiful. Placedo Domingo was awesome, and his greeting of the POPE was very emotional.
We stayed an had a hotdog for about an hour after Mass, to let the crowds going to Metro die down a bit.
When we headed out we were greeted by some Catholic hate mongers, with their signs and catcalls about how we were all going to hell, but we sang hymns and smiled at them as we passed by, sure we ruined there day. but that is the joy of living in this country, freedom of speech. The weather could not have been better, and the silence at times during the reverent parts of the mass was awe inspiring.
I am blessed as this is the second time I have seen our Pope, way back in 1979, I was front and center at Trinity College when Pope John Paul II was here...it was a very emotional day, and we enjoyed it.
Hi Dana. I'm watching both. I'm watching the Finland osprey nest on the water, and Finney's nest on the island. URL is a few posts above. Did you watch that nest last year? Can you get the cam this year? It opened the other day, and the female is on the nest now. Check to see if you can get it. Takes a minute to load.
Good morning! Suzanne, thanks for Finney's nest site! Went right to it and it opened. I thought, where's the osprey? Whoa! He was right there, so big I couldn't see him!
A couple of days ago you were talking about the video's of the Scotland nest....where do I find the videos? I searched the site. Probably right under my nose! Apprently I have trouble seeing things!! LOL
Helen, sounds like you had a wonderful day, yesterday! I LOVE Placido Domingo, he's awesome. I saw parts of the visit yesterday on the news, and it did look like it went very well. I'm glad you had such a good time. Also glad you sang your hymns walking by the hate mongers. There's always somebody, I guess. Hope you ruined their day, and glad they didn't dampen yours! Osprey in Finland, looks like the female. Also looks like there was a switch in Scotland, but didn't see it. Just saw the wiggle wiggle back on the eggs.
Morning, Lolly! I'm VERY glad you could open Finney's site. Some can, some can't... hum, sorta like our 30 sec cam, I guess. On the Scotland cam, look right below the pic to OSPREY DIARY: read the latest news etc. Click on latest news, and it takes you to a different page. The videos are on that page, maybe mid-way down.
SUZANNE, there was no way they could dampen our spirit or our faith. BTW, kudos to Metro and their employees for being so nice and efficient...got to write them a letter of thanks
I took the wording from my address list last year and goggled it again, and somehow have gotten the 2008 nest site of Finney, did not put it in my osprey file yet....will see what happens when I try it from my favs.
OH, Helen, I'm so glad you got it!!! It' a different pic this year, they have moved the cam over to our left a little, and closer to the nest. Can't see the mountain in the back anymore. Was MT a sec ago, but an osprey in the nest now! Now we gotta work on Norma. Did you find the videos, Lolly? Cool, huh.
HELEN---I can't imagine how you must have felt!!--- AWESOME!! Then to meet a priest you knew!!-- All day yesterday--I kept saying this is a perfect day!!---I am certain it was an emotional day!!---That was not an every day occurrence!!!!---- ho!---(I would have loved to have seen PLACIDO DOMINGO too)!----You will always remember this day & can share with M&M some day!!!
Hey, Paula, saw your note and went right over to watch your video! Loved it, eatin' and peepin' is adorable! Think it' funny that the greyest one couldn't wait for another bite and moved over under mom. Figured since I was there, might as well watch the other 2 again. Love the first one where looks like baby is over the edge and one of the others comes to get him. Then squaks when he gets away from the edge. Like he's saying, I'm gonna tell mom, and there goes the beak, wide open. Too cute. Thanks for all your hard work!
It is a seriously windy day in Scotland! That tree is really blowing. Not sure what happened at NBG, but we're watching the folks on the ground, not the eagles. And what looks like a white stage, or something.
I wish Belle & Lib would have done more nestorations on the sides! Doubt anything will be done this late in the season. Guess we'll just have to hold our breath & pray that premature fledges don't happen.
but it didn't show up on the post, so I deleted, before I go to the great computer toom in the sky, I will master it or it will kill me in trying...tee-hee
Good morning dear friends. Have a blessed day and a wonderful weekend. I am so excited. Our community college has polled our faculty as to favorite websites, and of course, Mauley submitted NCTC. Guess what?? For our opening professional development before classes begin in the fall, I get to share with the college faculty my presentation of the history of the NCTC website, links, blog and Eagle Cam. I am humbled by the opportunity. Any one of you Steve, Paula, Mits, Sister Sharon, Glo, Suzanne, Norma, Mema Jo, Jim, Megan, Jill,Delphia, Dana and forgive me if I left out anyone, all the rest of you could do a much better job than I explaning the educational rewards of the Shepherdstown nest. I promise to work hard on the presentation. What isn't there to enjoy and learn from Liberty and Belle? Good thing they are going to limit my time. I intend to make every listener an Eaglemomster or Eagledadster. blessings donna
Just walked by---WOW #3 has finally figured this eating thing out!!---The little BEAUTY is on the other side & is just poking the food in!!---GOOD GIRL!!
Wow, Mauley, I think that's wonderful! I'm sure they will end up loving this site as much as the rest of us after your presentation! What's not to love? I think you'll do a wonderful job! Looks like tiny isn't tiny anymore! He's as big as the other two, and looks like he may pass them. If he does, I'm thinking he's not a he, but a she! Hum, be interesting to see.
OMG, just did something to see if it would work, and it did. Had Finney's site up, and right clicked, and selected save as background. Well, there went my eagle. I now have both ospreys on the nest as my background. LOL, kinda cool, they're both looking at the cam, but with the sun glaring that way, hard to see some icons. But now I know how to save pics...sorta. Cool!
Ok, sneaking out. All have a great weekend. Enjoy the cams, and blog all the info. Can't wait to get home and open the house again! Yeah!! Finally. Gotta wash the car on the way home, tho. Ok, gone. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly!
Good Day, all! Wow, sound! At first I thought it was coming from outside then I realized I was wearing the headphones!
Does anyone else here talk to the eaglets and tell them to bloody heck get away from the edge? Baby is causing me a few extra gray hairs today! Are we going to name them officially? Hope so!
Mauley is sneaking back in. Brought my laptop today so I could watch live cam, and be still my heart . . . . . . . sound and everything and a Little bit of fluff with a full crop. So funny and so pleasing. I love live feed. oops who heard the crow???????? Hope he stays away.
Have pulled a few weeds. Cream cheese Banana nut bread in the oven, 65 degrees, bight blue sky (after storms yesterday!) Life is good. Come on over for hot banana nut bread!
First time to get to the BLOG today and since i have to go to work this afternoon and evening it will most likely be my last time today. I see our kids have developed hangovers I do not like their new skill at all. ut they surely do look big, healthy and wonderful.
Good afternoon everyone; I have posted some more photos i took yesterday afternoon. With three young to feed both adults have to go and hunt for food and sometimes they are both gone at the same time.John with the DNR sent me the 2008 Eagle nest report. We have 86 active (eggs laid)nests plus 10 additional nests with eggs for the first time. So i think that is Great.
Eaglets are warm but Tiny is now looking for some shade. Her siblings are at the back of the nest & that is where she is headed. Her wings are spread a bit & panting is common.
# 1 & #2 born are still at back of nest sleeping in parents shadow.....#3 born is near the front of the nest towards us sleeping by her/his self. Oh well more room ( :
Hi Dana.. Beautiful day outside Sunny all day long.. Glad we got our AC checked out the beginning of the week before it's time to turn it on later this month.
If anyone wants to watch a Sea Eagles nest in Norway. It has a 30 second refresh cam and also a LIVE FEED with SOUND that you can turn sound on or off. Here is how to get to it:
On the same page to get to live feed look near top of that 30 second refresh picture to right says "LIVE-KAMERA" click on that if brings up another page which is the live feed.
Dana....thank you! Fascinating info about the sea eagles. You know, I really do not think those eagles on the Finland nest look like sea eagles after seeing these.
Lolly I thought you would enjoy that site I put up there plus the information in English. Very interesting about Sea Eagles. I'll be watching the nest in Norway to see if any chicks.
Hi Dana and Lolly... Dana, thought I'd let you know my Mom is back at home now and resting from her Epidural. She did well, as usual, said it didn't hurt. Dr. Yacyk said it would be a few days before the meds would take affect. Taking her for Crab Legs as a reward for her pain and suffering and patience. She really brightens up when we mention "Crab Legs"! Hope you are feeling better. They did tell her that if she goes out into the yard, not to go where it is uneven...
Wanda when are you taking your Mom for crab legs? Also I'm keeping her in prayer. I know "it is very hard to go in yard and not step on uneven it is ALL uneven".
Has anyone read how many eaglets are in the OK nest? There were four eggs, but watching now I have only seen two for sure. The cam has stayed up all day for me. I saw one clearly a little while ago, he is so big!
I was on the CHIL EagleCam WE - WRAY AND 01'S NEW SURPRISE ARRIVAL................They have their very own chick!@ It's not the one Dr Sharpe took.. It's all their very own doings! lol WE CONNECTION!!
Thanks for the alert about the WE JO...hadn't checked the forum since I've been home...totally amazing and wonderful news! They sure pulled a fast one on Dr Sharpe and Steff
Lolly = I have definitely seen 2 eaglets at OK, maybe 3. Have to go look again at the video I took the other day....Is tiny at the far end, he's hard to see
I didn't hear the sound you write about, but as a kid camping I heard plenty of what we called "Screech Owls." (Actually, there are two or three species that screech, but only one has the name.)
They fly fairly low in the dark night and try to startle prey into moving. And they sound like banshees from the evil places... Sudden, loud and high pitched screech.

It is a seriously windy day in Scotland! That tree is really blowing. Not sure what happened at NBG, but we're watching the folks on the ground, not the eagles. And what looks like a white stage, or something.

WOW really gobbles it down! They are really large bites.
Mauley I am certain you will do a
fantastic job in presenting our site!
Wow, Donna, that is too cool. I'm sure you'll convert them all!
left right, who to feed first...lol
Wow, getting quite a deep egg well in Finland!
I can't tell if both eaglets on the right are being fed... I think the one farthest back isn't getting much.
Go Tiny Go
Looks like a nice sushi breakfast!
DONNA, know you will do a fantastic job:)
love the way the can gobble it down as fast as Belle can dish it out
Just walked by---WOW #3 has finally figured this eating thing out!!---The little BEAUTY is on the other side & is just poking the food in!!---GOOD GIRL!!
Hmm, is it whichever peeps the loudest gets the mostest?
These guys are just too cute!
I think they all take turns getting the most...just right now it's Tiny's turn!
just lost my sound:(
Would you look at that crop on Tiny...you know what he'll be doing the rest of the day...PS's LOL
Tiny's so full he can't hardly move!
My sound went out too
Parent off the back of the nest...
SOUND JUST CAME BACK ON:)
Mom back and so is the sound!
Suz - the right click should allow you to "save as" also. That's how you can save pics.
Paula, when you right click on Finney's nest you get everything but "save as".
Hope so!
both osprey in Finny's nest
You're right Lolly....but try this page out...you have to manually refresh....but you can save the pic

Aww, look at the eaglets, right under the cam!
Mauley is sneaking back in. Brought my laptop today so I could watch live cam, and be still my heart . . . . . . . sound and everything and a Little bit of fluff with a full crop. So funny and so pleasing. I love live feed. oops who heard the crow???????? Hope he stays away.
Parent at BWE

Lots of mudballs at BWO
Can not see OK eaglets, but one did a wing stretch. Wow! It is big!

Sun going down in Finland. No osprey in nest.
Have pulled a few weeds. Cream cheese Banana nut bread in the oven, 65 degrees, bight blue sky (after storms yesterday!) Life is good. Come on over for hot banana nut bread!
Had to turn off Scotland Cam. It was too noisy to hear our nest.
First time to get to the BLOG today and since i have to go to work this afternoon and evening it will most likely be my last time today. I see our kids have developed hangovers I do not like their new skill at all. ut they surely do look big, healthy and wonderful.
Can someone please give me the site address for the Scotland nest? Thanks!

Good afternoon everyone; I have
posted some more photos i took
yesterday afternoon.With three
young to feed both adults have to
go and hunt for food and sometimes
they are both gone at the same
time.John with the DNR sent me the
2008 Eagle nest report.We have 86
active (eggs laid)nests plus 10
additional nests with eggs for the
first time. So i think that is
Great.
Indiana Nesting Eagles----Dave
Thanks, mema jo!!!
Just looked at your newest photos, Dave. I love the ones from your scope - those 3 heads are right there!
Eaglets are warm but Tiny is now looking for some shade. Her siblings are at the back of the nest & that is where she is headed. Her wings are spread a bit & panting is common.
Hello again everyone been helping someone with their computer. Most of day...back now ( :
Boy the sounds from are nest are terrific ( :
# 1 & #2 born are still at back of nest sleeping in parents shadow.....#3 born is near the front of the nest towards us sleeping by her/his self. Oh well more room ( :
Wingercises are taking place.
I though Pearl was going airborne!
Must be eating time as all 3 are
looking out for incoming food!
Hi Dana.. Beautiful day outside
Sunny all day long..
1st 30 second refresh
all on one line
http://www.smp.no/ornereiret.
asp?page=3544,
3641&lang=1#
On the same page to get to live feed look near top of that 30 second refresh picture to right says "LIVE-KAMERA" click on that
if brings up another page which is the live feed.
There is even a place to click for English. Where they talk about the Sea Eagles.
Beautiful sunset in Finland!
I got the url address all one line...
I can't bring up the sight. Can you email it to me?
Both osprey in Scottish nest & being very very noisy!
Hi, Jo! Isn't this a beautiful day?
I have my live feed up and also sound...I am a happy camper.
Ok Jo I will go send it to you..
Wanda when are you taking your Mom for crab legs? Also I'm keeping her in prayer. I know "it is very hard to go in yard and not step on uneven it is ALL uneven".
It is a gorgeous day, Wanda. Sure hope your mom can get pain free! She sounds like a real trooper!
Thanks Dana I'll look for it.
Did a panda cam check. Can't believe how they have all grown! ZZ isn't squiggly anymore.. They are all quite the climbers!
Jo check your email
bbl got to fix dinner
Thank you for the sea eagle site Dana. It's night time there, can't see a thing! Duh! So I'll try to check it out later tonight.
You can also put this address directly in your WMP
mms://media2.smp.no/Smp_orna
Got the link in email
Thanks Dana
That sea eagle site also has some current videos - click on video to the right of the screen, one is from 3/7/08
Dinner has arrived at our nest!
You think there is more food coming?
WHAT'S FOR DINNER???
If the food is in front of the adult, I think the eaglets are pecking at it. Shadows in the nest don't help
Adults are In Out In Out...
the look on the faces is like.....what??????
They are all looking as though
Where Did It Go
gone again..
Guess I better not wait any longer & go get my dinner!
BBL
I hear voices down below at the nest....
I wish Tiny's darker feathers would come in quicker! He's hard to find at this time of day!!
Gotta go mow...
I was waiting to see if someone was having a hard time finding him too.....didn't want to sound the general alarm of I could not see him;)
Eagle at KENT cam 2
eagle at KENT 2
awww, littl chick at BC is laying under Mom's chest...
both parents our nest....
Belle mantling and yelling at Lib
dinner is served, but I have no idea what it is.
Eagle at KENT cam 1
2 eagles at Kent on cam 1
temp here is down to 89°
looks like dinner is over and mom is straightening up the kitchen
think she is trying to eat the leftovers
off she goes, sure she is not going far, can hear a bluejay in the background
all are getting comfy, maybe it is cooler by the edge.
Has anyone read how many eaglets are in the OK nest? There were four eggs, but watching now I have only seen two for sure. The cam has stayed up all day for me. I saw one clearly a little while ago, he is so big!
Nope Lolly all I remember is there were 4 eggs..
Look at Tiny #3 born standing there on 2 feeties like "look at me"...hee hee
Tiny has been standing like that for a pretty long time - Then she spreads her wings...
Down she goes
she/he is really full of herself/himself:)
Tiny just isn't ready to settle down
That was the first I saw any of them standing like that
woooo, nelly, watch out when the big birds get up
Looks like they are all watching the same thing out over the side.
I hear a car very close by....
I was on the CHIL EagleCam
WE - WRAY AND 01'S NEW SURPRISE ARRIVAL................They have their very own chick!@ It's not the one Dr Sharpe took.. It's all their very own doings! lol
WE CONNECTION!!
Got to go do things see all tomorrow. ( :
What's that noise?
sounded like some kind of screaming or howling
dogs don't like it
our eagle better get away from the mic, or will not have sound
Was it a screech owl
I looked away and the adult was gone
I have never heard one, but it was really strange sounding
Spidey's web doesn't help to see what is what
I heard the dog...
You know with my hearing that I didn't hear the noise...
I can hear the eagles though when they are chirping. I love their sound
you can hear the spring peepers if you really turn it up, Jo, also chicks and birds still chirping
actually chicks are pretty quiet, it is the reast of the stuff in the background
Thanks for the alert about the WE JO...hadn't checked the forum since I've been home...totally amazing and wonderful news! They sure pulled a fast one on Dr Sharpe and Steff
Lolly = I have definitely seen 2 eaglets at OK, maybe 3. Have to go look again at the video I took the other day....Is tiny at the far end, he's hard to see
Good evening...
