Have you been watching NU eaglet? He starts flapping & dancing around like he is defending himself against something.Oh, no. Maybe it was the lightning & thunder - Now the rain is really coming down on the MT nest. I Guess he went off on a limb under some leaves.
It is very hard in the beginning to see the panda cub, and, especially at the angle they have the cam. If she lays on her back we might get a peek at the cub.
I keep forgetting, Mits, that you are a pro at watching this baby panda since you've been through it once before. So with your advice, I am telling LunLun to just lie on your back & relax!!
Hi Jo, Mits and Paula. Glad you're feeling better, Mits. Enjoy that siesta, Jo, then come back and tell us all about the good food you had today. Making bouquets for tomorrow, BBL.
Pretty slow day in here. Floral girl I bet your Fresh and Dreid Bouquets are absolutely gorgeous this time of year. I think the fall colors are so very striking. All the mums up here are stealing the show right now, although the dashes of color from the other surviving annuals in peoples gardens also look very pretty. They should, they have had ample rain for sure this year. last year nothing, brown dried, miserable going into wnter. This year lush, and green grass that you really can watch grow before your eyes. Saw it myself this morning
Going out with friends this evening. Will BLOG at ya later or tomorrow. Enjoy your evening with the Mamas and the wee ones!!
I just have to say that I remain totally amazed at that big ball of fur, and the way in which she cradles and cares for that little stick of butter. My usual question. When does she eat?
JO I think LUN has found the curled up position to be to her liking. This is so different than when I watched Mei. First of all, you could not see Tai because he was so small, but, you could certainly hear him. Mei's birthing den was smaller, I think. but, the cam was really good.
hey everyone, been busy working on the presentation for my rescue group... going to rehearse with the speakers (Jody & Dave) on Monday, see what we need to tweak.. catching up on laundry, hubby and I went to lunch, taking care of my birds, etc....
5:37 pm phx time, peregrine chick feeding time! only see two heads right now... wait, maybe that's three... so hard to tell one Fuzzball from the next if they don't raise their heads!!!
i'll check back later, see what there is to see...
BTW, China owns all giant pandas in the US, as far as I know -- they're just "on loan" to us, I guess even the ones born here. it's true that the cubs are not named until they are 100 days old. i think that has something to do with making sure they actually survive... the public can vote for a cub's name at some zoos, but the pool of names will already have been chosen, i think... i could be wrong, it has happened, once or twice ;-)
hi floralgirl! how's the bouquet business? i'd love to have a flower farm, if only i had (1)the energy (2) the land (3) the money and (4) the know-how! LOL
Thanks again, DAna... I got the e-missive in question.
While I was opening the link, I discovered the pics didn't load, so I checked my "Internet Options," deleted what I could see, increased the size of my cache, and they load beautifully now.
While I was in there I changed some of the fonts...how do you like them??
Hello everybody and good evening. I have been out and about all day. Just got home. Watching Lun Lun and Buta Buta and Frieda and the falconettes although I haven't seen the falconettes yet.
Flower business starting to slow down here, Birdgirl. Nights getting cooler, almost time to start cleaning up the gardens and getting ready for next season. In Nov. it will be time to start making Xmas wreaths. Hello, Jim.
PAula- I did grow some mini pumpkins this year, had a much better crop last year though. Squash bugs are really attacking my pumpkins this year. Grew birdhouse gourds, harvested about 40 them last week. I can't sell them at the Shepherdstown market cause it's not on my application, hoping to change that for next year. Pumpkins take up so much space, I usually grow the little ones up a trellis, works really well.
FLORAGIRL The white pumpkins were big sellers last year on the Eastern shore. I usually make a fall/thanksgiving arrangement of orange and white pumpkins with the small gourds, some mums and the artificial fall leaves, since they stand up better than the real ones, I do throw some of the real ones around, the arrangement goes on my top step.
Oh yeah Mits, love the Baby Boo white pumpkins! Your arrangement sounds nice, love using leaves. Hoping to grow mini pumpkins and gourds next year to sell at market. Yes, us gardeners are always planning for the next season, hoping for that great harvest.
I would have thought that the Frodocam people would have posted something on the website about the 3 hatchlings but then again we have to remember it is now Sunday noon in Brisbane so the website people are probably out for the weekend.
We plan on making them into birdhouses, Paula. last year we drilled holes into 4 of them and hung them out, all had birds nesting in them this Spring. Really the hardest part is getting them to dry, it takes a while.
Howdy everyone - hope all are well? Was nice to see Chrissy dropped by earlier. And Bird Girl. Where's Nilla? Haven't seen any blogs from her :( Miss her for sure. Jo gorgeous day for a picnic - did everyone have lots of potato salad? I ate a Hartle's sub today for lunch - stopped at the new shop (Bev and Dave's I think it was called?) on Virginia Ave. Yummmy
Football game this evening - we lost by one point - but it was a fun game overall. Score 7 to 6. We missed a 2 point conversion...
Hi Belle Sorry to hear about the 1 point. I'm sure the band did great! I think everyone has packed it up & went to bed. I confessed to a 2hr sleep after coming home from the picnic. Weather was great - slight breeze every once in awhile. Were you in Hagerstown for the game or just for feeding your hunger? Don't ya love those onions! LOL I am missing Nilla also - I thought she had this weekend off from work - hopefully she is doing ok & keeping busy with fun things.
Hey Anon who adopted the lil kittens - how are they doing? Are you getting any rest? I hope they're thriving. Do you have special food for them? I know walmart sells kitten formula and little nursing bottles, at least I remember seeing them there at one time... are you doing ok with keeping them warm and their bedding clean? Poor babies... but so lucky you found them - best wishes to you and them!
Guess it is drizzling down under - rocks look darker and 'shiny' like they're wet and the 'greens' are growing like 'weeds' LOL at least she can get a lil drink from the leaves if she needs it.
I read the Brisbane weather log & it stated that since 9am (their day) they have had 5.6 of rain. I can only assume they mean 5 inches.. Some of the areas had 26-27. I just notice the rain a few minutes ago - She was feeding them & all of a sudden she was nesting over them with rain drops on her.
hmmm think they would use metric to measure their rainfall? would that be 5.6 mililiters? Not sure. Poor Frieda - tired and damp - is it cold there? Temp is probably in metric too - I'm lousy at those conversions
Think I'm goign to close down for the night, also... praying all our little ones have a good night/day while we're away. I'm with Chrissy - so exciting to have them, but now I worry, too
Hey all, just checking in on Freida.. it's 12:30 am Phoenix time, and I've been working on the presentation for the last four hours. It's taking so long because not only do I have to edit photos and original artwork (from Dave) to fit the slide, I'm animating just about everything in the slides. (Any of you with PowerPoint experience knows what I'm talking about!)
I would be farther along if it hadn't been for a "bird run" I went on earlier. Jody calls me, tells me someone reported "a hawk or an owl in the bushes, east of" a particular intersection which is only a few minutes away from me. it's dark when I get there, so I drive around slowly, with my flashers on, pointing my flashlight in all the bushes. i see nothing. so i get out and start walking around, look in and around bushes. not a single shrub went without my investigating it. still nothing. and not just nothing there NOW, no evidence that anything like "a hawk or an owl" was anywhere near there. so I called Jody, and she told me that we don't have any more information than what she gave me... the person who called her was a police dispatcher, who had been given a message by another officer, who had been flagged down by a passing motorist who (supposedly) showed the officer the bird, which was supposed to have a broken wing. and the officer didn't take the name and contact info of this person! ARGH!!!!
I have to say, it drives me nuts when we don't get enough good details -- or the person reporting doesn't stay with the animal, or at least put a box over it or something -- and we volunteers spend time on a "wild goose chase" (sorry, had to do it!!)... I feel bad when I have to give up, because I still wonder if the bird was there and I just couldn't find it...
Of course, people who call in a found wild bird always want it to be something exciting, like "a hawk or an owl", when usually it's a grackle or a dove! Not always, of course, we certainly do get our share of raptors. Still, it amazes me how little people know about basic bird physiology. I guess it all depends on what one is exposed to as a child, and how interested the person is to begin with. We get plenty of good-hearted folks who tell us that lots of people just walked by or drove by the injured animal, not caring. That really pi$$es me off (excuse my language). Especially since it's almost guaranteed that the injury was caused by humans in some way.
Gosh, I didn't mean to rant so much. I guess I'm just frustrated about it....
Well, Freida isn't budging, and I'm pretty tired, so I guess I'll go crash now. I don't want to get up, though, because my cat is sleeping on my lap, tucked into my shirt (she loves to burrow -- she's a hairless cat, with some fuzz mind you, and that's a trait of the Sphynx). She's so warm and soft, and purring lightly, it's so soothing... ahhh.... :-)
Hope everyone has a good night/morning/afternoon/evening and take care!
Floralgirl When you make birdhouses from the gourds, do you put a little perch on/in them? And how small do you make the entry hole? Just curious; it's a common misconception that the hole has to be large... only has to be large enough for the bird to squeeze through!
Alright, now I'm really going to bed... sure wanted to see those Fuzzballs...
Good Sunday morning to all! Hope everyone has a great one. Birdgirl- I always make the smallest hole possible in the birdhouse gourds, used my Dremel todo so. We had chickadees, finches, and a wren family move into them this year. Didn't put any kind of perch on them.
Nope, early morning wax is all mine.( now that would wake you up!) Well, off to finish bunching up flowers and load the van for market. Have a great Sunday!
Good Morning All. Beautiful day here in Ocean City. Going out to look for some dolphins~~~~~ this time yesterday there were dozens of them all over and the ocean looked like a lake, so calm.
Good Morning all. Floralgirl I would love more info on how to make birdhouses from the gourds. Doreen Wow sorry to hear about your accident sounds like a pretty big "owie". Hopefully you are somewhat on the mend!!Mits. There ya go making me homesick for the ocean again. Everyone do have a Wonderful Sunday. Blog at ya later.
Good morning Mits, Glo and Doreen. Doreen, my my, when you do it, you do it right, huh? My dogs stepping on me hurt, can't imagine a horse! Hope you are feeling better now.
Mits, enjoy that beach. Hope you see lots of dolphins today.
Hi ya, Sharon and Glo. just checked in on "our own loveable panda" He is trying to eat a tree branch and looks exhausted, sure he will head to the grotto or tree limb for a nap soon.
ROFLMBO at TAI, he got so mad at a leaf that he tried to grab, and then he hung on to the tree limb and dropped to the ground, and got up and attacked the tree limb.
Good Morning my buddies Very interesting reading on the blog. Doreen I hope you can stay on top of things!Jess is one very large horse-that had to hurt so much !! BirdGirl I can understand your frustration in not finding the injured bird.. it's like losing your child in the crowded store! Mits Don't forget to give us a dolphin count - beauthiful day in MD Sharon You said you frapped LunLun - anything to send out? Did you frap a Frieda feeding? I guess Brisbane will change their home page since it is Monday down under. Norambyrd I hear you want a four wheeled Jaguar! WooHoo! Red I presume. Floralgirl Beautiful day for a market.. I would love to purchase some of the birdhouse gourds. Glo You enjoy your day-walk in the sunshine!
Awww my post got lost... Just saying goodmorning to everyone and describing how nice it is to watch LunLun - she's so gentle and careful with her little bun bun :) Feel so sad for the panda mom that had twins and accidentally crushed one while sleeping - they took the other one from her - don't think they HAD to do that - she probably just couldn't keep track of where two were - poor dear must be so grief stricken at having no cubs suddenly. They should've taken one of the twins in the first place and hand reared it... oh well, I am sure the experts know best.
Gorgeous day here - wish I didn't have so much to do
Doreen! SO good to hear from you and you definitely win the award for the most original and undeniable excuse for being away from the blog! Yikes. I hope Jess is properly contrite and will be extra cautious about where her feetsies land in the future. You've bunged yourself up properly, I hope you've seen Dr. and gotten everything set to rights and giving yourself time to heal?
Good time to need to rest a lot - watching Lun Lun and her new little bun bun bundle :)
Floralgirl Sounds like your gourd birdhouses are quite the prime real estate in the bird world! You definitely did it right to have so many types of residents! I use a Dremel in my "art stuff" -- I looooove my Dremel!!! It's great for shells, ceramics, glass... and, of course, fixing the deadbolt on the front door!
Doreen OMG!!!!! You definitely had a good reason to be away... I hope you are FOLLOWING DOCTOR'S ORDERS so you can heal properly. How is it your horse, with dinner-plate sized feet, managed to step on your foot but not with the frog????? My mom was raised with horses, she's been through the same thing with a draft horse, but her foot was under the frog... I sure hope you get better soon! Anything I -- or any of us -- can do, let us know!
All Okay, have to get back to work on my presentation now.... I'll check in later!
Thanks Mema Jo. I just went to the NU site and see that darling in there. He reminds me of Spunky too. Looks a little breezy there today. Great for my eaglet fix. Thanks again!
Enjoy your BBQ - I've been watching LunLun in hopes of seeing that cub. No luck - LunLun keeps the cub tucked real close to her. Eaglet in NU nest gave me my eagle fix for the day! Brisbane still hasn't changed their home page. Guess it will happen soon & hope the put up the photo sent from here of the 3 fuzzy chicks. BBL
Jo I've been trying yesterday and today in Lun Lun cams to see that baby....everytime she feeds she turns towards the wall. Guess she is telling us no way not yet for the cameras..lol
Hi Dana. I thought I was bloggin alone! I may be headed for a siesta soon. I figure that LunLun has her back to us so that she can use her feet up against the wall to safeguard the cub will only be able to go so far should he squirm out of her arms.
Dana, take the darn thing back & get a different brand to try. Mine is large but I do small cuts of meat in it with no spitting problems. Knock on door - Son came to visit. BBL
Mei is inside eating bamboo and Tai was up a tree until climbing down he fell out. He's ok..
JO IS JUST COOKED THE GREATEST SUPPER...MEAT SO TENDER...small red potatoes nice and done...before I take this one back next time I cook with it I am going to try another outlet...maybe this one I'm using makes it get too hot...
They still don't say three babies - maybe they need another picture from us showing all three beaks more clearly before they'll believe us? Did anyone send one of those more recent three chick pics?
I don't know. I know i sent the same one we all seemed to have seen together as I believe others did as well. i thik they take the weekend off over there, but yes it should be mon morning there. Maybe they want to see the third one themselves first, and with ll the rain, they aren't getting too much opportunity. We have 4 new fuzzies to see ,and right now we are hard pressed to see any of them LOL
Not staing in here right now, just wanted to say hello etc. Just not feeling the greatest. Too much on the eyes right now to be at the monitor too long. TTYL
Hope you get your headaches straightened out Glo, if that is what is bothering you again today. Maybe you should try some of Nilla's remedies... coke with ammonia something or other from the soda shop, head in hot bathwater, something with vinegar? I think those were ideas.... whatever works for you, I hope you find it and feel better soon
Back from my cookout. Had a lovely time. Getting ready to head back out again. Lun Lun is still being that wonderful protective mother. Frieda is a drenched, soaking wet falcon. Bless her heart.
Hi Sharon :) Glad your cookout was a good time :) Status quo here all around - peaceful in its predictability, mostly. Poor falcon needs a towel and a roof! Those babies haven't seen daylight today that I have noticed.
7:15 pm Camera view changed - seeing long length of ledge Can see parent beside the nest with the catch of the day I guess ----ughhhhhhhhh! Now parent is gone. I can't keep the pic up when I type on the blog. Closer view now of chicks.
Belle : read some of my comments before yours - Didn't see all 3 little heads, just 2. The camera was changing angles & the feeding didn't last long at all... Wasn't long enough to feed all 3.
Sorry I looked at screen saw lUN LUN getting up and saw baby, posted right away and they changed camera Now she's back with little one didn't have frapper on :-(
Yes I did. I still think its cute as ever!!! So what ever it looked like to you before, pretty much the same. I'm sure it was squaking for MaMa. Might have seen a tinge of shading like hair coming in.
Lun Lun looks like she's about to do sommersaults when she changes positions - but she just flops gently to her side cradling the babe all the while - haven't even caught as much as a glimpse of the white/pink fuzzball
I got the cam pulled up just in time to see her get back to the baby and roll snuggle it - saw something yellow in a bowl as the camera was following lun back to the nestbox area - I don't have frapper - need to look into getting it, though I guess
I wish they had sound so we could hear the baby & they say the mother panda purrs to her cub. That would be great to hear. Mits had said that Mei didn't eat for quite some time after Tai was born.
I need to be able to skipp eating for a few weeks - And she wasn't eating hardly anything for a week or more before bun bun arrived. She definitely seems to be loosing weight - I can see her vertebra when she bends and rolls
Lun Lun continues to be a great mother. She keeps the cub covered most of the time, but we are able to see occasionally. It looks healthy and strong. Newborn giant pandas have very little fur and cannot regulate their own body temperature. Thus, it’s very important that the mother hold the cub constantly to keep it warm. Dr. Rebecca Snyder Curator of Giant Panda Research and Management
I imagine everyone has read this - but just in case...
About 10 mins ago, Mei came up to the "ledge lodger" and grabbed a hold of his back and pulled him away from the ledge, he moved a little, than went back to sleep. What a good Mommy. I'm surprised they are giving Lun something to eat. Mei refused to go out of the birthing den for weeks and the first time she did it was for a drink of water and when she heard Tai cry out, she immediately ran back to him. Not eating is a normal behavoir of new panda moms.
Alittle earlier Mei was eating bamboo below on rocks. Tai was laying up top on rocks near the scarey place. He must have really wore himself out today.
LOL there ya go mits - lets get a little corporate competition going there!!! Then we'd have 3 views at once, sound, replay and a commentator 24/7 to give us moment by moment updates
Belle, thanks for the update. For some reason I hadn't read it. I keep looking at F&F home page to see just when they are going to update that info & post the pics we sent them.
DANA I didn't know we were about to get some rain. Thanks for telling me. Will get my cats inside. Oh! the other evening I was calling& calling Scar to come in and getting very aggrivated that he wasn't coming. The I stopped to think that the last time I saw him was when he did come in with Tigress. I went to the computer room where the door is closed & there he was - looking at me like "what do you want?" I really had a bad case of CRS !!

Good Afternoon!
Mits, you feeling better?
Hi Jo!
Oh my, that NU nest is really rocking....
Hope your conference went well, Steven.
Good thing you yelled that! Hi Mits & Paula (so far) Back from picnic and it was great! Checking the cams & the blog & email before I take my siesta!
NU had an eagle in the nest eating. He's still there.
LunLun may be nursing the cub - she is sitting up-just wish she were facing the cam.
I am really going to take a quick nap!
Steve Thank you!
Raining at NU, eaglet gone...:(
Have you been watching NU eaglet? He starts flapping & dancing around like he is defending himself against something.Oh, no. Maybe it was the lightning & thunder - Now the rain is really coming down on the MT nest. I
Guess he went off on a limb under some leaves.
May soon be able to get a glimsp of the cub - LunLun is sitting facing the cam now. She is holding the cub but you can't really see it.
Feeling better than yesterday, thank you, PAULA Think I have turned the corner, I hope....
That is some rain they are having at NU..think they left a half eaten fish.
Hope your conference was a success, STEVEN

Hi Paula, Jo, Floralgirl and Mits (sorry Mits didn't know you was sick hope you are feeling better)
Every time I get to see Lun Lun awake, she is nursing and she turns towards the wall lol. Think she knows we are watching.
Hi Glo didn't see you before I blogged. Think we were blogging at same time. You going to kick up your heels?
I just have to say that I remain totally amazed at that big ball of fur, and the way in which she cradles and cares for that little stick of butter. My usual question .When does she eat?
Yes Dana I am going Round dancing tonight.
I forgot Mits ... see where Tai is sleeping?? Hope Mei doesn't stretch...wouldn't be a good thing for Tai......
Glo..
I just tried to access your store at CafePress.com using the original link, but I got a message saying they couldn't find it.
Have you closed it or moved it??
Jim
Jim Glo went out for the night. I did go in and check the site. You are right. Not Found...in case Glo doesn't see this I'm sending her an email.
Ok Jim I have emailed Glo about the subject of the "can't get into products at Cafepress"
Thank you, Dana, I appreciate your efforts.
Having a good Saturday?
Jim
Jim and all who may have forgotten like I did......the cafe address is

well it didn't print all the way across but that is how to get into the products.....
Wow just looked alot of new products oh boy
JIM CHECK YOU EMAILS

Hi Bird Girl!!
hi floralgirl! how's the bouquet business? i'd love to have a flower farm, if only i had (1)the energy (2) the land (3) the money and (4) the know-how! LOL
Hey everyone: YES! I found a page on CNN for naming Lun Lun's cub. i'll email the link to the group, so it doesn't get cutoff here...
ALSO, there was a link to a streaming live video into her den, runs on Windows Media Player.
Thanks again, DAna...
I got the e-missive in question.

hello Jim
Hello everybody and good evening. I have been out and about all day. Just got home. Watching Lun Lun and Buta Buta and Frieda and the falconettes although I haven't seen the falconettes yet.
Flower business starting to slow down here, Birdgirl. Nights getting cooler, almost time to start cleaning up the gardens and getting ready for next season. In Nov. it will be time to start making Xmas wreaths. Hello, Jim.
Evening all!
Hello Paula!
Hello Paula! and Mits, and Jim, and Floralgirl and BirdGirl!
I sure do wish Lun Lun would turn around and give us a good shot of that cub!
And I sure do wish Frieda would get up for a minute or 2 so I could see the 3 hatchlings!
Floralgirl,
Do you do anything with pumpkins or gourds?
PAula- I did grow some mini pumpkins this year, had a much better crop last year though. Squash bugs are really attacking my pumpkins this year. Grew birdhouse gourds, harvested about 40 them last week. I can't sell them at the Shepherdstown market cause it's not on my application, hoping to change that for next year. Nope, Sharon, only the picture that you sent.
Floral,
Do you make the birdhouse gourds into birdhouses and sell them that way, or just leave them whole?
Paula, you get 1/2 can of wax!
CONGRATS. PAULA, HERE'S YOUR WAX.
Oh yeah Mits, love the Baby Boo white pumpkins! Your arrangement sounds nice, love using leaves. Hoping to grow mini pumpkins and gourds next year to sell at market. Yes, us gardeners are always planning for the next season, hoping for that great harvest.
Hmmm, what should I do with my wax?
I would have thought that the Frodocam people would have posted something on the website about the 3 hatchlings but then again we have to remember it is now Sunday noon in Brisbane so the website people are probably out for the weekend.
Paula, start at your ankles and work your way up! :)
Soembody is adjusting the camera a little bit in Atlanta.
Too bad they didn't install a camera in the wall there where she sits all the time.
We plan on making them into birdhouses, Paula. last year we drilled holes into 4 of them and hung them out, all had birds nesting in them this Spring. Really the hardest part is getting them to dry, it takes a while.
Can't wait for that darn falcon to get up any longer, off to bed, early morning tomorrow. Nite all,
Sharon,
LOL, but Already shaved 'em!
Floralgirl,
Good point, forgot it was Sunday down under!
Paula, LOL, lucky for you!
Floral,
You going to sell any birdhouses?
PAULA, DON'T STOP, KEEP GOING...
Going to stretch out and watch a movie.
Good night and sweet eagle/falcon/panda dreams, my friends of fine feathers and fur!
Good night everyone..sleeping falcons and pandas are making me sleepy too.
Night all that are leaving to sleep or watch a movie...tc
Frieda just doesn't want to be seen getting up tonight I think ... now since I said that maybe she will
Looks like it's you and me, Dana!
Freida does look like she is snoozin...
Now she is awake...
Both parent falcons at nest, feeding.
Well I can now say "I have seen 3 little white fuzzy falconetts"
so white and fuzzy oh my
Now you can see all 3. Hungry little guys! Wish I could tell if it is Frieda or if it is Frodo doing the feeding.
Yes I am still awake. Nap was more of a deep 2 hr sleep then a siesta.
Rain drops falling on my head .......
she is so water repellant......
Cover those babies
Good Momma Frieda !
I MISS SPUNKY, INBETWEEN & BIG BOY I remember when it rained on our kids - Belle was right there for them.
I ALSO MISS SOMEONE BEING ON THE BLOG WITH ME
Shhhhhhhhhh! Everyone is sleeping.
I'm here Mema :) Never fear, you're never alone here :)
Hi Belle
Sorry to hear about the 1 point.
We were up in Hagerstown running errands - the game was a home game :) I got some pictures, but haven't taken them off the camera yet
Too late to call Nilla tonight, I guess. I haven't seen the falcons or Lun Lun and Bun Bun or Mei and Tai yet today - busy day - missin the lil ones!
LunLun is in the same place she was when I saw her last night. She looks so sweet all curled up snugglin her babe
Home from the dance,I'm hungry now for me and for LUN LUN Snack and then bedtime here. Rest well everyone. I'll BLOG at ya tomorrow. Good night.
Hi, Jo, Belle, Glo and Dana if you're still here. Just popped in to say goodnight!
Welcome home Glo - you dizzy from all that dancin 'round? Hope you had a fun time :)
Hi Paula and goodnight :) How's your new college entrant doing? Let us know :)
Frieda looks like she's sleeping... nope guess not - eyes were wide open next refresh... I bet she is tired!
Guess it is drizzling down under - rocks look darker and 'shiny' like they're wet and the 'greens' are growing like 'weeds' LOL at least she can get a lil drink from the leaves if she needs it.
Thank you for my ChickenDance, Belle. Really was good!
Glad you enjoyed it - I found it looking through some old emails I'd saved and thought it was worth sharing :)
Seems like everyone is heading to bed or already there -
Yikes - just looked at the time - no wonder! Lost track of time with the football game...
Belle, I am signing off for this evening. Want to download reunion pics into an album. Take care.
Good night & sweet dreams of seeing a little tiny panda cub & 3 fuzzy little hungry chicks..............
Lolove
hmmm think they would use metric to measure their rainfall? would that be 5.6 mililiters? Not sure. Poor Frieda - tired and damp - is it cold there? Temp is probably in metric too - I'm lousy at those conversions
Sweet dreams Jo - see you tomorrow!
{{{{{{hugs}}}}}
Think I'm goign to close down for the night, also... praying all our little ones have a good night/day while we're away. I'm with Chrissy - so exciting to have them, but now I worry, too
Oh and good morning to all those who get up before I do - probably most of you!
Speaking of early risers - Suzanne, did you get your computer hooked up Saturday??? Where are you???
Not gonna post again - giggles Sharon will have to post 5 times to get wax or wait 'til morning :) Neener neener neener :) Love to all!
FIRST!! to wish you a happy Sunday....
There is one advantage to being 3 hrs. behind you Easterners...I can just wait until you head into the lands of knod and 'zzz's.
Jim
SECOND TO WISH YOU A HAPPY SUNNY SUNDAY
There is an advantage of being a 'night owl' - you can stay up with the Westerneers.....WHoo Hoo!
Goodnight Jim & Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
Bird Girl
Good Sunday morning to all! Hope everyone has a great one. Birdgirl- I always make the smallest hole possible in the birdhouse gourds, used my Dremel todo so. We had chickadees, finches, and a wren family move into them this year. Didn't put any kind of perch on them.
Will Sharon's radar go off as she is sleeping and lead her to the 100th post?
WOW!!!DOREEN That had to hurt...so sorry...hope you are on the mend, and, you are excused from not posting. Take Care!
Good morning Mits, Glo and Doreen. Doreen, my my, when you do it, you do it right, huh? My dogs stepping on me hurt, can't imagine a horse! Hope you are feeling better now.
Mits, enjoy that beach. Hope you see lots of dolphins today.
Glo, I hope you have a wonderful day.
Mei and Tai are having their a.m. fruitcicles.
SHARON get your frapper out, good pic of Mei and Tai.
Good Morning my buddies
Very interesting reading on the blog.
Doreen I hope you can stay on top of things!Jess is one very large horse-that had to hurt so much !!
BirdGirl I can understand your frustration in not finding the injured bird.. it's like losing your child in the crowded store!
Mits Don't forget to give us a dolphin count - beauthiful day in MD
Sharon You said you frapped LunLun - anything to send out? Did you frap a Frieda feeding? I guess Brisbane will change their home page since it is Monday down under.
Norambyrd I hear you want a four wheeled Jaguar! WooHoo! Red I presume.
Floralgirl Beautiful day for a market.. I would love to purchase some of the birdhouse gourds.
Glo You enjoy your day-walk in the sunshine!
Awww my post got lost... Just saying goodmorning to everyone and describing how nice it is to watch LunLun - she's so gentle and careful with her little bun bun :)
Feel so sad for the panda mom that had twins and accidentally crushed one while sleeping - they took the other one from her - don't think they HAD to do that - she probably just couldn't keep track of where two were - poor dear must be so grief stricken at having no cubs suddenly.
Bird Girl
If anyone is out there -
Eaglet in NU nest
He so reminds me of our SPUNKY
Been watching Lun Lun. She is so precious with that cub. Mei and Tai are sleeping. Still dark in Brisbane.
Going to a cookout. BBL!
Thanks Mema Jo. I just went to the NU site and see that darling in there. He reminds me of Spunky too. Looks a little breezy there today. Great for my eaglet fix. Thanks again!
He just flew up into the tree. Glad I got to see him.
Eagle in NU
Just flew from nest up onto tree branch
2:30 pm Another Eaglet in the NU nest. Flew upward on a branch.
Hi Dana. I thought I was bloggin alone! I may be headed for a siesta soon. I figure that LunLun has her back to us so that she can use her feet up against the wall to safeguard the cub will only be able to go so far should he squirm out of her arms.
I'm sure of that Jo she is such a good mother...
No eagle in Maine but the water is so so blue wind blowing it is a beautiful scene.
If you nap have a good one.
I don't see where NIlla has been on here for awhile have you spoke to her?
I'm beginning to think I need to buy a "smaller crock pot". That might be why the lid is popping up. Cause it's always when the meat is about done.
Eagle in NU down off branch back in nest
Dana, take the darn thing back & get a different brand to try. Mine is large but I do small cuts of meat in it with no spitting problems.
Knock on door - Son came to visit. BBL
Mei is inside eating bamboo and Tai was up a tree until climbing down he fell out. He's ok..
JO IS JUST COOKED THE GREATEST SUPPER...MEAT SO TENDER...small red potatoes nice and done...before I take this one back next time I cook with it I am going to try another outlet...maybe this one I'm using makes it get too hot...
Aww just checked on Freida...except I htink it is Frodo on the chicks right now. That bird is drenched!!!
Has to be Frodo, thatis nOT Freida's eyes. Hopefully she is off eating AND bringing back food and an umbrella "wind resistant!!!
Thanks for the reminder Glo - forgot it was finally daylight time down under... it is still raining?
They still don't say three babies - maybe they need another picture from us showing all three beaks more clearly before they'll believe us? Did anyone send one of those more recent three chick pics?
Ummm yes!!!
That poor falcon is so wet - I bet the babies are toasty and dry though
I don't know. I know i sent the same one we all seemed to have seen together as I believe others did as well. i thik they take the weekend off over there, but yes it should be mon morning there. Maybe they want to see the third one themselves first, and with ll the rain, they aren't getting too much opportunity.
We have 4 new fuzzies to see ,and right now we are hard pressed to see any of them LOL
Yes I think the babies are fine too. Amazing parenting in teh bird Kingdom!!! Oh and Panda too!
The little ledge lodger is at it again.
And there is an eaglet in the NU nest with a stick in his mouth!
Frieda looks madder than a wet hen -- errr- falcon1
Okay, I am gone again. Be back around 8:30 or so.
Hi Sharon :) Glad your cookout was a good time :) Status quo here all around - peaceful in its predictability, mostly. Poor falcon needs a towel and a roof! Those babies haven't seen daylight today that I have noticed.
Eaglet in NU nest..
Eaglet flew out from NU!
Boy wet falcons are a sight!
Dinner time for me - leftover picnic foods..........
I think the eagle got tired of waiting for someone to bring him dinner and he left.
Frieda has bags under her eyes.
eagle back at nu, looks like a different one, can't see its head.
everytime I go to look at him close up, he disappears.
CONGRATS MITS
you're right on que! #150
I'm still eating BBL
7:10 pm Falcon off the nest! I can see two of their heads. Now I only have half the pic. Food should be there shortly.
7:15 pm Camera view changed - seeing long length of ledge Can see parent beside the nest with the catch of the day I guess ----ughhhhhhhhh! Now parent is gone. I can't keep the pic up when I type on the blog. Closer view now of chicks.
Frieda is now there & feeding the chicks. Camera view keeps changing. Sorta close. Hope someone else is viewing all of this.
All I can view now is Frieda's tail end. Camera not capturing the chicks on the other side of her. You know, like the DC cam.....
My cam is froze there
Little Eaglet back in NU nest. Getting dark outside - Maybe he'll spend the night. He is lying down.
Dana - which cam... Frieda?
Looks like the rocks are drying - maybe the rain is done? Did you see all three chicks? I haven't seen them yet
Belle : read some of my comments before yours - Didn't see all 3 little heads, just 2. The camera was changing angles & the feeding didn't last long at all... Wasn't long enough to feed all 3.
There is an eaglet in NU
Panda baby now
Frodocam isn't updating properly - hope they're tending to it - thanks for the report Mema :)
The eaglet at NU is slowing fading into the dark of the night.. Funny how only his feet & few white feathers on his tail are visible.........
LunLun refused her apple.. Glo did you see the baby?
Sorry I looked at screen saw lUN LUN getting up and saw baby, posted right away and they changed camera Now she's back with little one didn't have frapper on :-(
I can see how a giant panda could roll on a baby...LunLun just did a rolly polly movement but had cub in hand, I guess.
They stuck something else in there before the apple. she knows its there, but no she walked away. man you know I hate hunger!!!
Yah I read that. Its gonna be a long 2 or 3 weeks for me and lun Lun LOL
I need to be able to skipp eating for a few weeks - And she wasn't eating hardly anything for a week or more before bun bun arrived. She definitely seems to be loosing weight - I can see her vertebra when she bends and rolls
I can't see how she can roll and move so much and not let me get a glimpse even of the baby - she rolled on her back and I thought sure I'd get a peek
Yes it sure is something how Lun Lun rolls onto her head, rolls and moves around holding on to that baby.
Sunday, September 10
Lun Lun continues to be a great mother. She keeps the cub covered most of the time, but we are able to see occasionally. It looks healthy and strong. Newborn giant pandas have very little fur and cannot regulate their own body temperature. Thus, it’s very important that the mother hold the cub constantly to keep it warm.

Curator of Giant Panda Research and Management
I imagine everyone has read this - but just in case...
About 10 mins ago, Mei came up to the "ledge lodger" and grabbed a hold of his back and pulled him away from the ledge, he moved a little, than went back to sleep. What a good Mommy. I'm surprised they are giving Lun something to eat. Mei refused to go out of the birthing den for weeks and the first time she did it was for a drink of water and when she heard Tai cry out, she immediately ran back to him. Not eating is a normal behavoir of new panda moms.
THANKS, JO, didn't realize I had past that milestone.
Alittle earlier Mei was eating bamboo below on rocks. Tai was laying up top on rocks near the scarey place. He must have really wore himself out today.
Couldn't CNN spring the few extra bucks for sound? What about Coca Cola or Home Depot, they are 2 other big companies based in Atlanta
We are really getting the rain here now.
LOL there ya go mits - lets get a little corporate competition going there!!! Then we'd have 3 views at once, sound, replay and a commentator 24/7 to give us moment by moment updates
They also have the Atlanta Falcons they make alot of donations to places.
You have mail Glo
Dana? Rain? Really? No signs of rain here - wow...
BELLE BELLE BELLE
Time to view the chicks!
8:24pm
Man that was fast. Frieda is back & has already tucked them under her breast..........No feeding.
FROM THE BRISBANE HOME PAGE

Just finished watching 3 new videos on Brisbane site........Very good!
Very kewl Jo - new videos :) thanks for letting us know :)
Vicky I like your posies!
Hi Vicky! I talk to the walls sometimes! How was your visit with the grandkids?
Vicky, your flowers are very colorful. You think they'll stay fresh so you can keep them a couple days??? LOL
I think Frieda was feeding the lil ones some abc food (already been 'chewed') in that video
OK I'll take it LOL
Figured Sharon would arrive back just in time to get it, waited for a minute and nothing LOL
I JUST LOVE THOSE FALCON FUZZBALLS!
Just stopped in to say hello!
Congrats,BELLE I was really expecting to see SHARON in the #200 spot. VICKY I REALLY like the flowers. Are they fall asters?
