They are great, Paula. I really like the the 6th one where the eagle is flying straight at the camera. What a shot. And I would love to see a tree with 12 eagles in it, like one of the pictures shows.
Steven I can't find the words to show how thankful I am to have had the chance to see those great, beautiful and wonderful pictures. Thank you so much for sharing them with us all.
I love it Vicky,it's really pretty. I liked that picture you showed the other day of that building with the planters full of flowers on it, too. Were they petunias ,I don't remeber. CRS
Steven, they are absolutely stunning! Thanks to you for all you have done for this group and for the eagles. Best wishes to NCTC and all it stands for. And starting with the children is great.
If it comes through right, my picture is now one that my brother took of an eagle at Dollywood. The eagle has a broken wing but is beautiful nonetheless.
Sharon I have windows media player.. The link on the panda cam page is just to install it... When you get a chance, please send me the link. I could, I know, go back & try to find it in the blog comments. BUT........... Thank you.
Just a few words to say hello.. While my eyes are open.. So nice to come here and see all those beautiful eagle pictures.. Thanks Steven.. So good to see Marie back and Sandra you need to get that blue name.. Dana hope your feeling ok after your shot yesterday and Thanks for coming to hospitol to see me again.. HOPE its the last time... Ok here it is middle of Sept and no plans on meeting for this month yet.. Jo get on the ball and lets plan something.. Well my mind is still moving very slow so going to say Niters... Hugs, Nilla... Will reveal more about this heart cath later..
Those babies looking up at their momma for that food is the most precious sight, especially from behind! Now if Lun Lun could figure out how to feed her baby with us watching like that, I would be a grateful soul! :)
Good to hear alittle from you Nilla; glad you are resting. That's a GOOD THING.
Sharon I am enjoying you new pic on here. Even went in to enlarge it. My that is a goreous eagle. Sorry on this browser I don't have spell check and I think I spelt goreous wrong sorry.
ROFLMAO! I was trying to concentrate on the babies instead of the one doing the feeding so I wouldn't see the blood and guts. Have no idea who it was! :)
Wow what beautiful eagle viewing pictures!!! I think we all got out eagle fix today LOL. Nilla So nice to see you felt up to quickly stopping in so we dont worry about you. Will look forward to hearing more form you tomorrow. rest well tonight.
I am going to bed early...Its been a fairly long week here.
Good Night everyone...Rest Well...Will BLOG at you tomorrow.
Sharon Thank you so much! Like you said before - there has to be a way to remove the F R A P S sign.
He really is a cute looking little bitty critter. LunLun just scoops him/her right up & rolls.... Loved It !!!! I'll check out your mailing & forward to others.
Yes, Mema Jo, the only way to remove Fraps is to pay for it, which I plan on doing before eagle season again. I hated it got in the way of the little Buta Buta's face but it was better than nothing.
Paula, praise the Lord, I just finished working. Been a llloooonnnngggg day!
Paula or Sharon Ok I have windows media player. I see your http addy for the panda cam. Where do I put that http addy panda cam in order for it to go to my windows media player?
Mema Jo, I think it was around 8 p.m. As far as the black and white thing goes, that is the way it is with Tai and Mei too. At night, they go into that mode. I watched them changing the settings on the screen tonight for Lun Lun's cam.
Well, I got home around 8:30 p.m., had a good day. Read and answered e-mails, spoke to hubby, read the blog and here I am. Haven't looked at any cams yet, going to do that now. So Good Night All! THANK YOU STEVEN FOR THE AWESOME PICTURES
Thanks, Suzanne. My brother took that picture at Dollywood. It had a broken wing so its permanent home is Dollywood. Sad but glad it is being taken care of.
Thank you for correcting my spelling sorry Sharon. I always feel badly when I mispell words. I which this had spell check. The Fire Fox site I have does but it won't let the blog up-date what people write. Looks like I'm the only one there all the time.
Good morning all. Sorry its still raining east of me right now. My forecast is for Sunshine later today or perhaps by tomorrow at the latest, LOL. No really we have sun in the forecast today for the first time in like 4 days. very chilly this morning. I think the weather moves east from here, well unless you are causing some Southern Weather Event that is blocking the progress of the Sunshine I am trying to share with you. can't give it to you, I need it too LOL. OK Off for coffee and dog treats. Will BLOG at you later.
Suzanne I thought it was your home number. Let me know tomorrow in here if you got one on your cell. Oh Boy I might have given someone else a "Happy Birthday" message LOL
I've been watching Lun Lun I just cried> Oh Sharon I got to see the baby (Buta Buta as you call him/her), it's still all white fuzzy no black yet. It's little feet were moving it was laying on its back.Him/her is so cute and tiny. Sniffle sniffle enjoying a part of life I would never have had a chance to see this well.
Yea Suzanne, I start to climb the walls when I can't get outside. I know what you mean about taking care of the hummer feeders. It is a lot of work. I'm lucky to work at home and have easier access to changing them. I know the hummers will leave soon:(( Last year I saw my last one on Oct. 1st. Already we seem to have a few extra birds that may have come from New England, NY area where the temps. have started to get cold, and our feeders are really being emptied as the birds bulk up for their journey. Always sad when they leave, spend all summer in the garden with them flying all around me, know some of them by sight, like pets to me, garden becomes so quiet when they leave.BOO_HOO!!
Floralgirl and Suzanne you just said a "dirty word" lol housecleaning especially vacuuming. Now that one is total not but yet there is the thing of have too.
Floralgirl I don't know if you would let me next year. When your hummers are all around you in your garden. I would love to visit you in the garden. To experience the greatness of hummers flying all around me. If one landed you me, well you can't pick me up just let me lie on the ground and enjoy it. What an experience for me that would be...on my..
I do miss my hummers from the other house. I am going to get me one of those plants next year that Jo got. It will be on my porch it is open and I can see from my windows. I wrote the name of the plant down. Since I can't do gardening I figure I can do some pots on the porch and a few boxes that hang off the railing. That way it will be easy for me to take care of. Will have to find out from you Floralgirl or get from you plants to put next year in the hanging planters off railing (like window boxes but plastic)
Well, my dogs were outside barking and barking and barking. Two came in but Hairy stayed out there barking so I decided to further investigate. I found that he had treed a raccoon. It looks like a young one, absolutely beautiful. I got Hairy in so hopefully it will feel safe to come down out of the tree! Dogs, dogs. I didn't know Hairy was a coon dog! :)
I have noticed that the birds are starting to hang around the feeders more. We keep them filled year round, but there are so many seeds and berries and bugs during the summer, they don't eat as much sunflower seed. Large flocks of doves in the yard this week. Think dove hunting season has started or will soon, they can hide out in my yard. I know I am low on seed, need to go get some.
Eagle at BW looks so soggy, good spot to groom and dry off. I've got to get back down there this winter, we saw lots of osprey and a few eagles when we went 3 yrs. ago. We get a lot of skunks here to, always wary when we go out, we love to walk in the garden at nite, so far no close encounters there. Although one morning I was going out the door to my van at 3:30 am to head to DC for some wedding flowers and I walked around the corner and came face to face with a skunk. I have never moved so fast in my life!!
Sharon Hairy says he's only doing what he was made to do lol .. He probably was telling you that the other dogs just reacted to him. Cause he is the great coon dog. lol
Skunks on my we have one (who knows maybe more I'm sure), and I call him Peppy La Pue wow he/she goes to peoples feeders and even in our yard are grugs. This all was an apple orchard and farm at one time. So in this ground is good eatens for skunks.
I leave my feeders up til I haven't seen any hummers for about a week. Other birds passing by your yard from further east will feed in your yard on their way by. Salvis Indigo Spires is one of my favorite plants, and the hummers love it! But it gets 3-4' tall and that wide.It is huge. There are so many other salvias that will work in pots. My pineapple sage usually doesn't bloom before the hummers leave. There is a great book called, A hummingbird in my house-the story of Squeak, by Arnette Heidcamp. It is about a woman in NY who found a hummer in her garden in Oct., long after he should have been gone, and brought him in to her sunroom and he stayed there all winter. It has beautiful pics and is a wonderful story.
Hi Doreen- yes, my life revolves around the weather. You might say we are obsessed with it at my house. It can make or break us The lack of rain when we needed it this summer cut my seaon short, costs me some major bucks. But hey, that's the lot of a farmer, already planting and planning for next year!!
I think they are trying and now I hear somebody speaking in the background in a language unbeknownst to me. Maybe it is Chinese and Tian Tian, Mei Xiang, Tai Shan know exactly what he is saying. They are Chinese, you know! :)
I hope these people taking at the National Zoo know their conversations are being broadcast. Could get pretty interesting for us and embarrassing for them.
My sister is feeling some better although she still is in atrial fibrillation. Not sure what they are going to do about that yet. Thanks so much for asking.
Yes, I am vacuuming up dog hair now even though I tried to convince the dog he should clean up his own hair, all he wants to do is attack the vacuum! Time to mop the floors...
I have a million and 43 sparrows on my roof this morning. I told them to eat all they wanted to!! There are a few mourning doves mixed in the lot of them. I do still have my tailless sparrow!
Blackwater has many eagles that stay there, Norma. My friend who lives just a little down river from NCTC has seen adult eagles fishing in the river a couple of tilmes in the past 2 wks. Plenty of food around for our eagles, no reason to leave now.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE Been catching up on the blog, interesting conversations this a.m. I just know in my HEART that our eagles are still viisitng our nest. Lisa said that some of the eagles at BW live there all year. Got to get there one day. Talk about cleaning, really should do that today. YUCK!
Loving that sound is back at National Zoo. SHARON I have heard some heated arguments between the construction people, some in English and some in another language.
Raining some hear at the ocean, but, not bad. Really should stay in and clean, but I don't want to....really would like to drive down to Asseateague Island to see the wild horses and other wildlife. Its only about a half hour drive. They have silka deer and probably osprey too.
Mt nests in CT and NU...think maybe the Osprey has left CT...not sure, think I saw one there yesterday...but activity level there has definitely decreased...
I guess they are checking out the cams for the new areas but they are driving me nuts with it! They had Mei and Tai inside a gate. I guess they were moving Tian Tian back to somewhere else cause they were in his spot. Then they opened the gate and opened a door and Tai and Mei went through the door and they shut it. It was wonderful how they were talking to them, telling Mei she was a good girl and Tai he was a good boy in the sweetest voices. I would venture to say they do that even when the sound is off. How could you not love these precious babies!
SHARON And that is what you need in these early weeks of panda cub watching. That's why it would be nice to have sound, we could hear TAI alot, but could not see him unless the zoo got a good pic of him.
The Virginia Extra section of today's Washington Post has a story about George and Martha, the Wilson Bridge eagles. Yesterday's Metro section had a feature story on the sloth bears at the Zoo. I don't know how to get these stories on the blog, maybe somebody else does. Both stories are available at the Post's Web site.
SHARON The keepers are absolutely wonderful with the pandas. There is a good video, I think, somewhere on the animal planet about when they were getting ready to bring Mei and Tian to the zoo, and Brenda, the keeper was still emotional about Ling-Ling and Shing- Shing, even though they had passed away a couple of years before, I'll try to find it for you.
Good Afternoon dear friends, Hope everything is great for you. I have to get back to grading papers. Mid term coming up. BBL God Bless You all today. donna
Bird Girl I love Hammy and the pic it's a great name
Paula I liked the "yes dear" lol. I'm glad you figured out the wick. That could have been a very bad experience for you. Plus how to explain it to the ambulance EMT or the ER dr I think there would have been laugher outside your curtain in the ER.
Norma I bet our Eagles are staying right around the area. Potomac hasn't froze over in a longggggg time.
MitsYes go to Asseateague Island while your in O.C. this time. It is wonderful having the wild horses even coming right up to car.
Sharon I copied the spelling off of Mits lol. I visited Tai and Mei awhile ago. Tai they were trying to find up a tree and Mei was laying on the sidewalk. Here is some ( ******* Angel Dust).
ROFLMAO..How would I do that DANA? Remember its me Mits, I don't know how to drive this thing. Didn't even know I could have temporay files are where to find them. Windows sent me 5 updates to update, don't know what they were and I let the windows defender scan my computer, because I have had so much problem with the zoo cam today.
I have returned from Dental - everything went well - just thought at one time that my jaws were going to lock! Can't have anything chewy or hard... I really want my Fudge Brownie sundae now!!! You all have had a beautiful day with the BW site & visiting eagles! Love it! DC cam is rolling all over the place. Maybe this evening I'll get to see Tai & Mei. LunLun is really getting a lot of sleep! Guess she needs to build up her strength for what is to come in the following months. Go see those ponies Mits! Mosquitos shouldn't be so bad with it having cooled down. Keep your windows up. Hi Norma - I usually miss being on the blog when you are--Go to read your comments. Don't get in email jail!
LOL Still around but very busy. Checking in to say HI. Going after gas now to Mow the grass again!!! You kow how much I love to do that!! Looks like its been pretty fun camera and somewhat sound wise on the bLOG today. TTYL
THE SUN IS SHINING HERE, TOO!!!Oh, Jo- I feel your pain...nothing worse for me than the dentist.TMJ problems with my jaw, cavities, root canal, OWWW!!! Norma FEAR THE TURTLE!!!
Dr. Mits here, yes, NORMABYRD I think the ones in captivity are very comfortable with humans, but the humans are very respectful of the pandas, you just never know with wild or domesticated animals.
Still raining slightly here in OC. Feel sorry for the lifeguards, who are still on duty til weekend after next. 10 til 5:30 p.m. and no one on the beach, don't know how they stay awake.

cnn_pandacam
Here it is. You will have to cut and paste it in 2 separate parts.
ROFLMAO! I was trying to concentrate on the babies instead of the one doing the feeding so I wouldn't see the blood and guts. Have no idea who it was! :)
Yes, I don't really mind the blood and guts, except I was eating ice cream and sort of losing my appetite.
Awww, did you see the way she gathered them up?
I heard some people saw BUN BUN?
LOL @ Floralgirl! Yea, not a really good site to view when you're snackin'!
I don't think we'll have to worry about those "weeds" too long...all that poop should kill em off pretty quick!

NIte, Floral and Glo!
Sharon, you still working?
The only way to remove the "Fraps" sign is to pay for it....
Thanks for the video, Sharon. Amazing how that big huge panda picks up that tiny little cub ever so gently in her mouth...
To watch Lun Lun and cub on the windows media player is you alls in color or black and white??
Yes, Mema Jo, the only way to remove Fraps is to pay for it, which I plan on doing before eagle season again. I hated it got in the way of the little Buta Buta's face but it was better than nothing.
Paula, praise the Lord, I just finished working. Been a llloooonnnngggg day!
Anyone else think that might be Frodo w/ the chicks right now?
Mine is in color, Dana.
What do I need to do to get mine in color it is black and white???
No, I guess it's Freida.
Sharon,
I imagine you are pretty beat...
Yes, I vote to say it is Frodo now with the chicks.

CONGRATS PAULA #50
What do you want for your prize?
Sharon, what time of day did you catch that Fraps?
Mema Jo, I think it was around 8 p.m. As far as the black and white thing goes, that is the way it is with Tai and Mei too. At night, they go into that mode. I watched them changing the settings on the screen tonight for Lun Lun's cam.
Time to watch some depressing news!
Then get ready to go to bed.
Then check back in one more time.
But just in case things don't work out that way, I better go ahead & say
GoodNight All My Eagle Buddies
Sweet dreams of all those eagle pics Steve gave us.............
Good Morning, Suzanne!

Really great photos, Steve...they are in my "Favorites" list now.
Definitely glad Nilla is back amongst us, and also that the few of us with lesser ailments are getting better.
Anyone seen any of the Liberty-Belle family lately??
Thursday already...hope everybody enjoys it.
Eagle buddy,
Jim
Good morning Suzanne, Marie, Jim and Doreen and everybody else in eagle lan. Getting ready to start working.

Miss Roly Poly Lun Lun is back live and in color! Doting on that little Buta Buta!
Thanks, Suzanne. My brother took that picture at Dollywood. It had a broken wing so its permanent home is Dollywood. Sad but glad it is being taken care of.
Good Morning Marie, Doreen, Sharon and Suzanne and lurkers.

Hi Floralgirl I seen it when I went to a site in Jamania hee hee
Jamaica sounds good to me!
Thank you for correcting my spelling sorry Sharon. I always feel badly when I mispell words. I which this had spell check. The Fire Fox site I have does but it won't let the blog up-date what people write. Looks like I'm the only one there all the time.

Well, I'm making some hummer food right now, these rainy days have had me stuck inside, forcing me to clean house..help, I'm becoming domesticated!!
Suzanne I thought it was your home number. Let me know tomorrow in here if you got one on your cell.
Oh Boy I might have given someone else a "Happy Birthday" message LOL

Suzanne I did see the one on 9/11.
Was this one today an adult?
I can definitely help you pick out plants to attract hummers next year.
Floralgirl that would me nice. A guided tour of your live garden creatures.
It will certainly be better I'm sure that Susan Crites tours of ghost.
More interesting and lively too. lol
Yes, no ghosts here!!

They have some kind of crackling sound at Tai and Mei's place. Haven't heard noise out of there for a while.
I think they are trying and now I hear somebody speaking in the background in a language unbeknownst to me. Maybe it is Chinese and Tian Tian, Mei Xiang, Tai Shan know exactly what he is saying. They are Chinese, you know! :)
WEll I'm off to walk at the Marina for a while Finally some sunshine
I see the talk about hummer plants is still ahnging around LOL. That's a good thing.
I definitely want some help with that in the spring
Blog at ya later.
ah, sun is trying to come out from behind the clouds. Off to get some work done. BBL
I hope these people taking at the National Zoo know their conversations are being broadcast. Could get pretty interesting for us and embarrassing for them.
Morning all, on this gloomy day! But I know the sun will shine soon! :):)
At least we have Floralgirl's, Dana's and Vicky's pretty flowers to brighten our day...
Sharon, is your sister doing any better?
Oops, Paula -just switched my pic.
My sister is feeling some better although she still is in atrial fibrillation. Not sure what they are going to do about that yet. Thanks so much for asking.
That's ok Floral, I love hummers too. He can feed on Dana's posies!
Floral, I know what you mean about housework...YUCK! Would rather work outside than in...and usually do everything else but housework!
Yes, I am vacuuming up dog hair now even though I tried to convince the dog he should clean up his own hair, all he wants to do is attack the vacuum! Time to mop the floors...
Eagle at BW!
Preening....maybe she'll stay awhile!
*** Eagle still at BW ***
I have a million and 43 sparrows on my roof this morning. I told them to eat all they wanted to!! There are a few mourning doves mixed in the lot of them. I do still have my tailless sparrow!
Suzanne, you were right. He came right back!
2 there now!!
It is so hard to get anything done with all these birds and animals being so busy! :)
**Eagle Pair at BW NOW!!!
Wow, what a treat, they're gonna let us watch them eat!
No, Norma, I don't think so, but we can pretend!
Blackwater has many eagles that stay there, Norma. My friend who lives just a little down river from NCTC has seen adult eagles fishing in the river a couple of tilmes in the past 2 wks. Plenty of food around for our eagles, no reason to leave now.
Thanks for that update, Floralgirl!
Isn't it just lovely!
Norma,
I love those feathered legs too....looks like they are wearing leggings...all eagles have those, look at the ones at BW now...
Suz,
Guess he went to find his own fish!
Eagle must be thinking he's still gonna get some,,,,back!
Guess she decided she really didn't want to share! Gone w/ the fish!
Normabyrd,
Yup, parents will stay, eaglets will migrate...
Suz,
Eagle minds think alike!
Pondering his next move....
And i am loving that EAGLE at BW!!!!
FLORALGIRL love your new hummer!!!
Must be raining in D.C.???
You can hear MEI bleating, she really does not like the drills.
They must be doing something at the ZOO, I keep getting knocked off their site. Reminds me of this blog.
SUZANNE, Tose eagles at BW are just fantastic. I am soooo enjoying seeing them.
Raining some hear at the ocean, but, not bad. Really should stay in and clean, but I don't want to....really would like to drive down to Asseateague Island to see the wild horses and other wildlife. Its only about a half hour drive. They have silka deer and probably osprey too.
He/She is looking straight at the cam. I'm thinking could be male. Aren't they smaller than the females.
Well I made it before noontime --couldn't take my eyes off of the blackwater site & the adult eagles.
They are beautiful..
Mits,
I think that is a male too...think the female had the fish..
Mt nests in CT and NU...think maybe the Osprey has left CT...not sure, think I saw one there yesterday...but activity level there has definitely decreased...
Morning, Jo!
Mits,
Drove thru Asseateague some time ago when the kids were smaller...got to see the ponies...so neat to see them roaming around...
wax
Since no one was going for it!
Congrat on being #200, PAULA
I was just about to state that my hummers have been missing for this week when I looked out the kitchen window & there he was! Still around.
I have good old dental this afternoon!
BBL
I'll take that with sprinkles, please!
MT nest at CT, but, I did see activity there on Tuesday.
*** 2 Eagles again at BW ***
Sprinkles or Sparklies??? Sprinkles sound like something you would put on ice cream.:):):)
2 EAGLES AT BW!!!!!!!!
SOMEONE IS FLYING BY...THEY BOTH LOOKED UP AT SAME TIME.
Wonder what they are watching?
Must be something flying around them...funny they are both looking at it at the same time...
Sparklies! Hmmmm, how about a wick? I could make some candles!
There was just a touch and go on the NU nest. Eaglet landed in the nest and immediately flew up into the tree.
MMMM! Yes, PAULA Watch your wick!!!!
My oh My! they are the preeners, aren't they?
SHARON Your eagle is staring at me...is he mad at me??? :):):)
Wooo!! Chest out, stomach in.
Mom eagle must be doing her exercises
No, Mits, he is smiling at you and admiring you! He can't be mad at you cause he loves you!
Your right, SHARON I do see him smiling, and, I love him too.
SUZANNE work on that puter at home, these eagles sometimes visit at sundown.
RA-RO!!!! Seems to be a slight glare at BW!
Is anybody watching Tai and Mei now? I love having the sound. They are with people inside the gate.
Now, Now I know where the wick goes!
I am having a really hard time getting onto the zoo site, and when I get on, it keeps shutting down on me whenever I go to change cams.
Male eagle looks eagle-pecked. He is sitting there keeping his beak shut.
Yes, NORMABYRD it is so good to see the eagles, I'm loving every minute that they are there.
Mits, maybe it is one of those "Yes, Dear" kind of days!
This is the afternoon funny show!! I love it.
Sure looks like it, PAULA
I am still patiently waiting for Lun Lun to leave Buta Buta again so I can frap him! :)
BBL, keep a watch on those Eagles for me....
SHARON And that is what you need in these early weeks of panda cub watching. That's why it would be nice to have sound, we could hear TAI alot, but could not see him unless the zoo got a good pic of him.
Eagle gone...eagle back..eagle gone again.
The Virginia Extra section of today's Washington Post has a story about George and Martha, the Wilson Bridge eagles. Yesterday's Metro section had a feature story on the sloth bears at the Zoo. I don't know how to get these stories on the blog, maybe somebody else does. Both stories are available at the Post's Web site.
hello all, just peeking in! hope everyone is having a good day!
Nilla glad to hear you're improving. Percocet is a great medication, isn't it?!?!
Sharon (I think it's you, anyway...) hope your sister is getting better... Must be really difficult for you to see her like that...
All I'll be posting a couple of pictures in my album of our presentation last night, later on today sometime...
Check in later,
Bird Girl
p.s. My picture is of my Golden Hamster, Hammy. I know, not real original for a name...
Thanks, SANDRA for the info!
Good Afternoon dear friends, Hope everything is great for you. I have to get back to grading papers. Mid term coming up. BBL God Bless You all today. donna
Is that Mei or Tai laying there?
I've updated, checked and rechecked, and this computer is just giving me a fit today.
I want sparkly wax.
Mits have you deleted your temporary files????
Then sparkly wax it is for you!
I think it is Mei lying there!
Which news station was that NORMABYRD? ABC, NBC, CBS etc.????
Look like it is raining pretty hard at the NU nest.
TERPS, TERPS, TERPS!!!
Thanks, NORMABYRD I'll look for that.
Found the panda video on MSNBC, too cute, NORMABYRD
Mits you have mail
4:10pm Thanks for sending the Sunshine, Glo. It is beautiful!
Okay, I am finished working now. Just watched that video. Loved it, loved it.
Heading to the hospital now to see my sister. BBL!
