Glad to read of all the hips and tips for foot aches and pains, Hedgie knows that I have some of the same problems.... I tried Judie's exercise at work last night, and could feel it exactly as she said! And I have done that rolling a ball under the feet, it can be torture but it is Good Pain ! Catching up on older posts. Hope everyone is doing well... Lynn, I see you are "better" than you were, but we want you to feel perfect! I got hungry reading the Soup Kitchen menu ☺
Jim We were adding our middle names on here yesterday .... do you want to share yours with us? I love the name James by the way.....it is also the name of my Grandson... xo
Osprey party at BWO - looks like three at the nest and Adult... sundown at Finney Land...those birds look ready to go also Jim, did you see they were ringed, on the 19th of July and the information on the weights is on the site
I was the one that wished Diane Flanagan a Happy Birthday and spelled her name Dianne....so that started the Diann/Diane mix-up going on the 23rd ! Sorry, but I think we have it all straight now
Hello Margy! Glad to see you survived your shift and got some good sleep. I was proud of you getting home & going right to bed. It's not always easy to do.
Linda: I loved your post about picturing all of us being in the same house together ! I hope your day, and everyone elses's on here is going well Alison is a beautiful name...and thank you for your kind remarks to me, and all the others...♥
I know a set of twins, boys, their middle names are "A" and "B" - I kid you not! The first one's middle name is "A." LOL And then there was Harry S Truman, and the S is just that, S !
I am headed to Berkeley Springs shortly to pick up Grandson James for a few days of R&R here...
it will be good to get back on schedule, my friend's husband with broken back, he is starting to move around, in a lot of pain, but was glad she could have this entire tour off, and I enjoyed working with different people for a change ! ☺
As far as I can tell, Jo, things were quiet upstairs ! ☺ Bee-You-tiful day here, as you are enjoying weather-wise too I read... Glad Marvin was well-loved and tended to in your absence ♥
Decided to do my Bible reading/listening while on the exercise bike. I am reading Job and today's reading was Job 38 & 39 when God speaks to Job. So powerful!!
God asks Job in Job 39:27-30 "Does the eagle soar at your command and build its nest on high? It dwells on a cliff and stays there at night; a rocky crag its stronghold. From there it looks for food; its eyes detect it from afar. Its young ones feast on blood, and where the slain are, there it is."
I guess I should eat something healthy for lunch if I want to lose some weight. I'm getting a hunger headache. Maybe egg salad today? Lite mayo, I know!
Amazing Linda! I was just reading about the eaglets release tomorrow and people asking how will they get their own food!
I'm trying to sort out what's happening next there. Here's a bit from Ed Clark's discussion this morning online on what we can expect after the five young eagles soar off on their own tomorrow:
Ed Clark, WCV: Right! WCV will have a web-cam operating, starting on Thursday morning, at 9 a.m. EST.... The first shots will be of this same enclosure...but with different eagle, of course. We have plans for two other cameras, but we can keep secrets too!!! It will be very exciting for all of us, though, I promise you!
How cool is this on the eaglets reactions to be free? ! ! ! ! !
Ed Clark, WCV: Hard to explain, but you will see it if you watch... At first they are all about getting out of our arms and getting up away from being held... it is completely a reaction to what is being done to them. Then, all at once, often when they are perched in a tree, they will look around and start moving their heads around rapidly, as the excitement builds, and they will explode out of the tree and their new life begins... Not all of them are obvious about it, but some are.... Once you see it, you'll never forget it.
Prayer request: One of my Train buddies is desperately wanting to quit smoking and I told her I would have my eaglet momsters do some praying! Her name is Karen. :)
Last comment from Ed Clark at WCV, and this is so beautiful.
Ed Clark, WCV: You're right, but sometimes it take a minute or two for them to realize that there are no walls... We had a gunshot golden eagle in captivity for 16 months while his severe wounds healed.. When he was finally released, he flew low, for 100 feet, the length of our flight cage, and he'd land. He kept looking up, like he could not figure out why there was nothing above him but sky. He'd fly another 100 feet and land, and look up. Then, after about three of these, he figured it out... He exploded off the ground and headed for the horizon!! It was great.
Hi Lori - Marvelous Marvin just came in off the deck for the cool hardwood floor in the house - or did he come in just to make sure we, his faithful servants, were here for him.
Hi, Everyone, I have been pretty busy here this morning. Got up early and swept up bird seed on the patio, watered all the outside plants, and pruned some of my rose bushes. This heat has not been kind to them. Some of them look like they will recover, and others look like it's doubtful. Trimmed those back and fed them. We'll see.
Now I need to run to the Post Office. Wanted to say hello first, though. No eagles again this morning?! Hope we see them tonight!
Sharon, saying some quit smoking prayers for your Train buddy, Karen. BTW, you have an e-mail.
I'm waiting to hear back from the doctor's office about the reports I did for them. Please say some prayers that they decide to send me more!
Well, better run. Will check back in when I get back home. HAGD, everyone!
Will surely say prayers for Karen to have inner strength to fight that tobacco demon! Sounds as though she is ready for the fight! Health and money are great incentives!
He is the cutest, JO! Give Marvin some scratches for me, please. xxoo
HERE IS THE SCHEDULE / TIMELINE FOR TOMORROW'S RELEASE OF THE 5 EAGLETS IN VIRGINIA.
Ed Clark, WCV: The "event" will begin at 11:00..... we'll have some introductions and a few welcoming remarks, logistical information, and ground rules for visitors. We will explain what is going to happen, what the birds might do, and how those things should be understood. I'm guessing that it will be about 11:15 to 11:20 before we actually get out the first bird.. We will tell its story, get everyone ready, count it down and give it a toss..... It will take 15 minutes or so between birds. We need to let each one either settle in a tree or clear the area, before we put up the next one. The last one will be about 12:10 or a bit after.
Seeing an eaglet released is an amazing experience. Up close, the powerful legs and talons and the deep rich color of the feathers is breath-taking. Watching one soar to a tree top is happiness. The location for tomorrow's release is a stunningly beautiful area. I wish we all could be there.
Good Afternoon to all the people on the blog and Lurkers.
Caught up on comments now. So of course made some comments when I was reading to catch up.
Thanks Hoda for putting the link for the Chapman wedding up. Amazing...Prayers when she goes to that place that helps people walk. They are "truly a pair in love". ( :
Prayers for Candy's eye surgery.
Lynne2 praying you find just the right car. I know what you mean daughter just went through selling hers and buying a used smaller car and better gas mileage with a lower payment.
Mema Jo sounds like Ed really had to keep prepared for anything. Sounds like he could hardly see. So HAPPY you are BOTH home safely!!!!!!!!!
Prayers for Suzan's that God will help with whatever her illness is. (((Hugs)))
Linda you are on the prayer list too. Sorry for all you are going through.
Andy happy neck/shoulder and such pain has eased up. You have really done a great job at all that studying you had been doing. Now for it to pay off!!!
Lynn-Hedgie hope that pain will helps you. Sorry for all your going through with the leaks and now the door not closing.
I still say "spray with bitter apple". Stopped many of my friends dogs from chewing.
Wanda keeping GG in prayers also. Yes bless her heart she did feel better because it was numbed. Hoping the shot helps her. Wanda thank you for the seeds you sent. ( :
Lolly so glad to hear you are at the beach. Tues 12:37 comment you made. Sounds like all the family made it safely too. Have FUN!!!
Good Morning Lori for you itching you might try CalaGel. It is clear and when you rub it in it drys. Great for insect bites, poison Oak and Ivy itch relief. Even good for minor cuts, scrapes, minor skin irritations. Dries the oozing and weeping of poison ivy, oak, and sumac. Helps the itch from mosquitoes too.
Margy glad night shift hours are over for you for now. I know you will have a ball with James. ENJOY!! You deserve some fun time!! ( : ((HUGS))
Lolly glad the muscle relaxer is helping Jack. Oh boy no seaweed hit that water and make those sand castles. Have FUN!!!
Lori I too am waiting to hear what your Dad tells you about what he did for his PF. Nice that you are going to ask him for us ty. ( :
Mema Jo they had those recumbent bikes at the Wellness Center in Winchester. Ed used it with his exercises.
Hedgie-Lynn I can't agree with you more. I hate it when Quad Graphics does that in the summer. So many looking for summer jobs. Sometimes I really think our Country has gone to pot. I still would not live in any other country though.
You know my first name and my middle Victoria. I have no problem with age. Since I have my Dad's genes and he died at age 58. I am happy to have become 62 this past May the 9th.
Sharon putting your friend Karen in prayers for quiting smoking. How is your other friend doing?
Andy prayers that the doctor sends you more work.
Thanks Mema Jo for putting up that video. I really cracked up with laughter at the ending.
Where is the release of the Eagles going to be at? Judie said The location for tomorrow's release is a stunningly beautiful area but where is it at?
The eagle release Judie and I went to was July 25, 2009. There are several pictures and a video on my blog on that date. I was using my new camera for the first time, and the video is sideways. I thought I should hold the camera that way because the eagle would be going up. I did not know that I would not be able to adjust it on the computer.
Tomorrow's eagle release is along the James River, I believe the plantation is just south of the Williamsburg area. It is lovely and the birds should have plenty of food.
Good grief, it has been two years since I met Shirley down at Mason Neck Wildlife Reserve. Hey Shirley, still got those hot pink pants?
Lori, when you arrive...Fresh FM contacted Darth wanting permission to "set up" at our National Night Out Against Crime community potluck block party. We usually get some news coverage such as Channel 7 and police presence and politicians, etc. We tried to look up the station but have little information. Can you offer some insight? Would rather it be your station. Thanks for any help.
What a marvelous verse from Job, Linda!!! And isn't it inspiring to know that our majestic bird graced the masses even way back then, and they recognized it as such?!
Catching up again. Carolyn was here.....she and Liesl had some fun lovin' time. And not too long after she left, I got the door CLOSED! I'm afraid to re-open it, LOL!!!
Its a bitter sweet moment with the eagle--this will be their almost last meal so sad but so happy that they will be out there for us to watch in the future
JudyE I think of all the places even our nest where they would have none nothing. The eaglets probably would have died.
Now they will have their chance for "soaring the skies" just as an eagle should. I know still some don't make it. I pray these three make it to adult hood.
Judie, right you are---Berkeley Plantation is a beautiful place....I love them all, but Berkeley has always been one of my faves! How ironic that I now live in Berkeley Co. in the renegade state! Remember how cool it was that two of our then-newbies actually MET at one of Dr. Clarke's releases???? Just look how far we all have come since then, right Judie and Shirley???
Praying for your friend, Sharon! Many of us know how hard it is....you included!!!
I love watching them fly ( : Now they will "soar" oh just think what that will feel like to them. Praise God for this wonderful place that has cared for them.
I, too, like CalaGel better than anything, DanaWV. No pink junk....but it still SMELLS like caladryl! And that is one of my favorite smells. I always have a bottle on hand.
All this talk of quitting smoking is great...of course, it's something I need to do and would like to do ASAP -but I'm so afraid of failing. I'd rather set myself up for success but don't know what to try this time.
Lori - I wouldn't know what to recommend, but we're certainly here for support. Just about every waking hour you could chime in when you want a cigarette and we'll talk you out of it!!
I just got off the phone with my father about his heel pain. He went for painful reflexology that didn't help much. He didn't take any medicine, but said what has gotten rid of it twice was STRETCHING exercises ... one of the exercises was like a leg squat, standing up straight then bending your knees going down on the balls of your feet...there was another where he used to always hook his heels under a bench or chair and stretch them that way. Hasn't had any since. He said anything you can do to stretch the muscles in your feet will help. That's from Al Naturale as I call him!
It is doubtful that the eaglets will return to the nest area---at least not in the near future.
Meat tenderizer does work well, but like baking soda, it's messy! Do you know that in the old days, liquid meat tenderizer was used to dissolve food caught in someone's throat?? Pre-Heimlich days!
My favorite when I think of or see eagles. Well just my favorite verse Isaiah 40:31
But the that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.
I do have a sheet of exercises that, of course I am tending to now that I am in so much pain!! The key is going to be to stick with those exercises. The night splints really do help with that stiffness in the morning.
I wasn't here and I'm hoping this isn't a repeat but such encouraging words concerning Mason's daily recovery that it's a "read again" article from his dad.
Hi, Gang! I just came in from filling the bird feeders again, and had the most amazing experience! While I was hanging up one of the feeders, one of our Cooper's Hawks flew from our big tree to the back block wall, nearly parting my hair in the process! I think it was the female hawk. She sat there and looked at me for a minute, then took off. Wow! Got to see her REALLY up close and personal! That made my day! She didn't catch anything. Hope she doesn't go hungry, just hope she catches her late lunch elsewhere. :o]
So these NBG eaglets having never hunted will have that natural instinct kick in once they are on their own tomorrow? They will be able to fend for themselves?
I too thought they would be moved to a hatch box first. Maybe someone from our blog can ask that question when they do the chat.
Thanks Mema Jo I missed it the first time. Sorry Margy ty for standing in and putting it up while Mema Jo was gone. I did miss it though. Good to read about Mason. ( :
Good afternoon all. I too wonder about the Norfolk Eaglets and their release tomorrow. I hope they do not confuse other humans as possible food sources, since they are used to sweeping down over humans and are rewarded by food...yet they said that it is in an area where there are adult eagles so maybe they will learn from them...I wish them well.
Linda, Hope you are feeling better.Enjoyed your chatty posts this morning, no eagles sighted from what I understand.
Some of the exercises mentioned on the blog are ones we also do in yoga class...up against the wall and the can roll under the feet. Good show everyone...
I very much like JUDY E's avatar. I do not like the goings on in the store about bringing in the temps though...It seems like such a harmless place when you all call it Wally WOrld, yet I think about how often they make their employees insecure with their tactics...Now that I know JUDYE I would be very upset if these tactics affected her job.
When I was a Sears Store in Hagerstown. I got to talking to a young lady that works there. She mentioned she is tired from running the highway to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I ask her why, she said, "That her boyfriend name Chris is 27 and is in ICU with Pancreatitis. He has been in for over a month in ICU. May today be moved from ICU.
JUST ASKING EVERYONE TO KEEP THIS YOUNG MAN CHRIS IN YOUR PRAYERS.
LYNN very smart of you to think of the hatch tower. I will be curious to learn why they did not think of it prior to the release.Yet they have all been terrific with the care of the Norfolk Eaglets that I am trusting that they know what they are doing.
Liesl just decided she wanted to play ball----little imp! She is really doing very well with bringing it back to me and dropping it!! Still need to get inm one more "lesson" for the day, but will wait until after dinner.
Please continue your prayers for Robyn and Tori that will be leaving August 5th to see the specialist in Colorado. It still seems that "only a lung transplant will correct Tori's condition".
Most definitely will continue prayers for Robyn and Tori. How is Tori doing now? Has she been able to stay home since she was released from the hospital without any incidents?
Linda, a hatch tower serves as a kind of halfway-house....fledglings leave the nest and keep returning for 6 weeks or so as they learn their lessons. Supplemental food is put in the towers, since trhey don't have parents assisting them with provisions.
Linda, I think Tori has been stable since she got home....she had a follow-up apptmt. today at Children's satellite facility near Judie. Haven't heard anything yet.
Painter guy says now not returning until Monday.......MAYBE a few hours Fri. AM. ARGH! What a mess things are....don't know whether they will do clean-up or not.....carpet is a mess of wet. gloppy junk....railing are all splattered....even mulch is covered in the goop in places.....I know it's unavoidable, BUT that doesn't make it any easier for me to cope with.
OMG I just got off the phone with June in NC she since 4:47 talk long time I have such dry mouth from talking so much and now I heading out to eat BBL still have to read todays blog since 1:27
Linda, turns out painter works at Lowe's---in the paint dept. Bet he paid a lot less for the product than what he charged me! He apparently also teaches some music students, and he performs at the Rumsey Tavern at the Clarion where we momsters gather for our meals.
Is anyone else have camera issue intermittent fuzzy around the leaves odd lines (small ones)Weird in away sort of hazy when the wind blows ok now out of here just had to ask
We are having severe thunder storms in my area right now. I wonder if it will clear in time enough to go paddling? periodic heavy rain also.
The leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Official Opposition, Jack Layton, has announced that he has a new bout of cancer. He overcame prostate cancer not too long ago.I feel sad about this news,he is the working man's woman's advocate. We will miss him in Parliament. He asked for a temporary leave and was granted it. He nominated a woman to lead the party and become the leader of Her Majesty's Loyal Official Opposition. She seems young to me and I have to learn more about her.
The reason it comes in my junk box is because of the email address is noreply-comment@blogger and I don't want that in by email address book when I send out jokes Funny thing is my email is always on the puter and it is always on junk mail not inbox That is how important it is LOL
I got my son the electric cig for his birthday and he loves it hasn't had but 10 cigs since the 30 and that was when it was charging You get the nicotine but not all the nasty tar etc
I stopped smoking on the patch I told that story awhile back didn't want to stop but had bought all the patches for 4 people for when my parents were to visit and they didn't come down because of dad copd so we all used the patches and stopped was amazed the habit that was hard to break was reaching and having something in your hand so I just used a bic pen without the pen part It worked FLA now has a free quite hot line that gives you all meds also
EW Liquid meat tenderizer melting food stuck in throat What about our insides it doesn't effect it? That is sort of meat I would say LOL another silly question.
I was wonder why they didn't put live bait in the pen for them to practice on
I'm watching the triplets play in the water I will miss then I am so mad that I forgot to ask for tomorrow off
Back from Soup Kitchen... we had a nice crowd, 45 guests. Had to make extra noodles and extra veggies. The beef and gravy held up (I made a ton of it!) Dustin took care of our simple dessert, cool peaches. He also helped the guests carry "Free Food" to their cars and served a bit. He did wash a few pots, but didn't stick around with that job very long:) He enjoyed the fellowship and wants to come back the next Soup Kitchen day. I'm so glad he enjoys helping others:) We had a wonderful supply of clothing, shoes and toiletries that nearly flew off the racks and shelves. So good to see that we are getting the items that these folks are needing!
WANDA, your menu for tonight made my mouth water ! HMMMMM, good ! Good for Dustin, thank you God for blessing so many of us with wonderful grandsons !
For WANDA, MARGY, JUDIE and any other veggie growers, this joke is in the current Reader's Digest under "Life's Funny That Way":
Harold of WI says:
I visited my daughter bearing gifts:summer squash from my garden. "What should I do with them ?" she asked. "Whatever you would do with zuchinni," I said. "All right, we'll give them to our neighbor."
For some reason that struck my funny bone when Seth read it to me and I laughted til' I cried !
He loves to read the RD jokes or some from the "Pretty Good Joke Book" on our Saturday/Sunday times together. Another round of applause for the blessing of grandsons !
LORI, you are, too. I know smoking is a hard habit to kick. My dil and a close friend in AZ both quit with the help of a hypnotist. One session did it ! Well worth the cost.
LINDA, how neat it is that we share the same birthday ! I've only met two others with that b.d. in all my years. Glad you got a kick out of LORI and me Monday morning as we fumbled our way through Pennsylvanians and Dianns,Dianes n' Di's. Wound up with an Abbott and Costello-like routine before we were through. I read back over it earlier today and got confused all over again. LOL
It's actually called a hack tower. They used them on the Channel Islands to release eaglets too. Also, the chick from the CRC nest was in a hack tower.
WANDA so good to hear that things went so well at the SOup Kitchen. The menu sounded delicious and what a blessing that you all are able to provide what people are needing in the store part of the experience.AWESOME.
Over on FB, Candy's sister commented to us that... "I am Candy's sister. She called me briefly to say that all is well and her operation went just fine"
Keep praying for her to recover and heal swiftly. ((hug)) ♥
Great Garden Joke Kay!....... oh my Going to visit granddaughter and she said tomatoes would be waiting for me and did I want any zucchini? I asked was it in a loaf or was it muffins? BAD MEMA !!
Another interesting day on this blog, full of good hints for living, remedies, good information and links as well as the sharing of prayer requests. I'm heading for the recliner and some mindless TV watching----translation, I'm going to be napping all evening ! Have a great evening, a good night and I'll see you in the morning, Early Birds. 7 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥'s for LIBERTY and {{{{{{Mega Hug}}}}}}for all of you !
JO, I always come back after saying "so long" as I just can't resist taking a look at the latest posts. Hilarious response to the zuchinni question ! Your sense of humor is delicious and I love you !
Good Evening Everyone! Thought I might be able to go thru the secret passageway to the internet at Park. But, NO!!! Online went out Sunday, Verizon was supposed to come today. Anyone seen a truck???? Have to do everything by hand, cash register doesn't work, so write rec'ts & can't enter any info, sales, etc. until it's fixed!
Osprey cam was working in office & we got it onlkine a few times. It's still showing the 2 young chicks with Dad. Smaller one doesn't go after fish, so Greg has been adding extra chunks to nest. The other is a bully & I think Dad just puts food in the closest mouth!
I have a black and white male, neutered, cat that was a pita today. He must weigh 30 lbs.
I decided to remove the food dish after they were finished. He likes to graze all day and my female is skinny.
My male, Bandit, followed me like a shadow today and meowed enough to break your heart. I surrendered and gave them some food then took the dishes and put them on the kitchen table.
Jim's been saying to feed Missy on the table because Bandit is too fat to jump up that far. ☺☺
Oh my manners!! Hello everyone.
I've been meeting with the morning crew the last 2 days and I think I'm back on schedule.
Wanda the menu sounded delicious. So glad Dustin has found his way at the Soup Kitchen ( : Happy things are working out for the clothing and needs shop.
Stayed away longer than I planned. Got a call from a very dear friend of mine tonight. We've been missing each other on the phone for 2 weeks!
Turns out she is having a lumpectomy tomorrow. She has breast cancer and this is what the doctor recommends. She will also have to have chemotherapy and radiation because of the size of the tumor.
PRAYER REQUEST, PLEASE...
Would you please pray for my dear friend Connie and her surgeons tomorrow? She knows the Lord and her church will be praying for her as well Her surgery is scheduled for 11am, but she has to be there at 6am for things they have to do like inserting a probe.
I know she is in God's Hands and he will keep her in His Loving Care!
PAULA - I think they may have put live fish in the tubs tonight, too. The guys that fed the eaglets didn't say whether they were alive or not, but they came and posted that they gave each eaglet three fish and they put three fish in the water for them to get later.
evening all! Came home tonight to find the landlord and my husband trying to deal with the old apple tree in the front that fell sometime this morning, but not all the way. It was uprooted about half way and falling. It's gone now :( But it was more than half dead, and one of the big dead branches was falling into the Crepe Myrtle, so now that has a better chance of growing well now!
Zucchini....my co-worker Janice made and brought in some Chocolate Zucchini cake today!! We needed it...it was one sad disaster after another today at work.
Linda, Connie will have prayers from Momsters, I'm sure. She is in His loving hands and in His care. We'll be anxious to hear from you tomorrow or the next day as to how well Connie did. ((hugs))
Jo, my next door neighbor has a lab named Coby, he and Nick love to play and run around together. They have both been very good staying in the front yard while off leash.
Since Lynn put her treefrog pic on awhile back, been meaning to comment about ours that we've never seen! He's out back somewhere doing "brrrup brrrip" almost every night.
Just read Linda's post----prayers by the buckets for your friend, Connie. She's very brave!
In case I konk out in front of TV, prayers also for those ailing, in pain & Dana's friend's friend, Chris. Pleasant Feather Dreams to all ;>)
We have a guy coming to resurface the driveway early tomorrow morning, so I know Dennis will want to head to bed early.
I may bring my laptop upstairs, but if not I want to say good night and sweet dreams to all!!
Prayers for healing for Lori's Mom, Lori's bee stings, Lynn's scapula, Kay's friend, Tori, Jack's neck, Lolly's BIL Dan, Sharon's friend Karen, My friend Connie, Candy's healing from surgery, NCSuzan in her recovery after hospitalization, and so many of our aches and pains! Lord, thankfully you know each and every one of them and we pray for Your Healing Hand on all our Momsters and Dadsters, their families and friends.
May God bless us all and the critters we so dearly love! May the NBG Eaglets be safe. May they find abundant food in the coming days, weeks and months. ♥♥♥
Learned something interesting, and disturbing today. We were doing an ultrasound on a very sick dog. The belly had to be shaved. Dr C made a comment about hair not growing back on animals that have been shaved and have cancer.
Brother had his belly shaved for an ultrasound several months ago, when he was really sick. While no masses were found, lymphoma could not be ruled out. He also had his leg shaved when he came home after being missing, for his IV. The hair has never grown back in either place :( I never even gave that a thought until I heard Dr C's comment today. SO, he may have cancer after all. He is due for another follow up check up in a couple of weeks. He's doing pretty well! He has not be asking to go outside. He has not been eating all that well, though, but he is eating. Just not like I'm used to seeing him eat.
Oh LYNNE 2 sorry to hear that Brother might have cancer...Keep us updated.
Prayers to all who are in need tonight.
I just came back in from paddling and I saw an Osrey nest with an adult and a chick. The adult took off as our boat came close. We paddled in the rain. There is a family of ducks(7chicks and the adults) which kept coming towards us whenever we slowed down both sides of the lake...so cute and so funny
Linda, most definitely sending up prayers for Connie for complete recovery.
Lynne, sorry about the apple tree---another species that is not deeply rooted. Sorry your day was so rough. Isn't it nice that Wanda's gs like to help with the Dusting??? LOL!
I did not renew my RD subscription last year for the first time in 40 yrs. It has deteriorated in quality and style and size so badly in the last few years that it no longer is the RD that I knew and loved. Parade in Sunday paper has followed the same path. Very big disappointments to this journalistic gal.
Hoda, Brother (aka Freakshow in a Fur Jumpsuit) has lived at LEAST 9 lives! I have posted many stories of his adventures (or MISadventures) and he has had a really good life! He got sick back in the winter with really bad diarrhea. Bloodwork and ultrasound were inconclusive but it is between Irritable Bowel Disease or lymphoma. Until and unless other symptoms start to occur (like this lack of hair regrowth), we don't know for sure. He's quite comfy for now!
DUSTING....OMG I am becoming the queen of typos!!!
Lynn, that apple tree is SO old. I'm going to count the rings. I'm guessing 50 years old. Like most of the few remaining from the orchard of long ago, it was in really bad shape. I'd been hoping the landlord would have time to cut it way back to give the CM some breathing room. But nature took it's course.
Glad your door finally closed! Less humid for the next couple of days so hopefully it will un-swell.
sure do Paula...it's been a long time since I've worked at a "real" vet hospital. But my coworkers ROCK as do the bosses. Great support and good humor, and just enough fuzzy kittens and loveable old dogs to equalize it all out!
I think I'm heading to bed as well. I want to get up earlier tomorrow. Maybe even pop in on the early birds. Not REAL early, but earlier than normal for me!!

Have a Good Day !

Sorry, but I think we have it all straight now
Hello Margy! Glad to see you survived your shift and got some good sleep. I was proud of you getting home & going right to bed. It's not always easy to do.

I hope your day, and everyone elses's on here is going well
Alison is a beautiful name...and thank you for your kind remarks to me, and all the others...♥
I know a set of twins, boys, their middle names are "A" and "B" - I kid you not! The first one's middle name is "A." LOL
And then there was Harry S Truman, and the S is just that, S !
I am headed to Berkeley Springs shortly to pick up Grandson James for a few days of R&R here...
Going back to finish reading the last thread.

Thank You Steve - Triple splits are a
bit much so thanks for this fresh thread.
Hi Margy Hope all is well in your 'burg.
Thanks Morning GLori
I was asleep within a minute, I think...
it will be good to get back on schedule, my friend's husband with broken back, he is starting to move around, in a lot of pain, but was glad she could have this entire tour off, and I enjoyed working with different people for a change ! ☺
As far as I can tell, Jo, things were quiet upstairs ! ☺
Bee-You-tiful day here, as you are enjoying weather-wise too I read...
Glad Marvin was well-loved and tended to in your absence ♥

Hag-Hair, well, we all have that condition sometimes ☺
MARGY - Glad you got some rest and can work on getting your days and nights back on track!!
Did my "biking" and now am going to ice my feet and achilles tendon. So glad I didn't get lost on that exercise bike!! LOL
Getting some thunder here. Riley is getting nervous again.....
Interesting that you have the PF pain, too, Margy. Obviously weight isn't the culprit with you!!
guess it is time to deal with MY Hag-Hair and head out the road

Jo, how is that Marvelous Marvin?
Well Hello There Sunshine Linda !
Catch you fine pals later on
xoxo
Forgot my manners and to thank Steve for the new Tuesday Thread.
Gracias Steve!
It's all His Plan!!
I guess I should eat something healthy for lunch if I want to lose some weight. I'm getting a hunger headache. Maybe egg salad today? Lite mayo, I know!
Amazing that God made the beautiful ostrich, yet it can't fly. But God also made an ostrich able to outrun a horse!! Cool stuff!
Good afternoon my eagle budlets!
Gooooood Afternoon Double E-S!
and Yes, prayers for your friend Karen ♥
Good to See You ☺
looks breezy at the nest
Hag Hair tucked up under clips
out the door,
xoxox ☺ ♥
Hi Lori - Marvelous Marvin just came in off the deck for the cool hardwood floor
in the house - or did he come in just to
make sure we, his faithful servants, were here for him.
Hi, Everyone,
I have been pretty busy here this morning.
Will surely say prayers for Karen to have inner strength to fight that
tobacco demon! Sounds as though she is
ready for the fight! Health and money
are great incentives!
Ed Clark has been through this so many
times that he sure can relay the feelings of Release! Someday I'll watch
this in person! I hope!
I'd love to be therre tomorrow to, but the best view will probably be right on your monitor. Glad their broadcasting it.
Lori - lover of bulldogs - you must watch this one if in fact you haven't already seen it over on FB
Dog tries to drag his pool indoors
they're not their...
They are for me ---- Try it again, please. If it doesn't open - go to FB
because Carol put it on your page! lol
LOL! Jo, I was talking about my spelling - not the video.
OMGosh, the dog is hysterical! That is one smart bully! Too funny. but I'll take my mellow FloBear anyday. :)
That video of the bulldog trying to get his pool in the house was a RIOT!!
Thanks for sharing Jo!
Seeing an eaglet released is an amazing experience. Up close, the powerful legs and talons and the deep rich color of the feathers is breath-taking. Watching one soar to a tree top is happiness. The location for tomorrow's release is a stunningly beautiful area. I wish we all could be there.
tee hee Lori! I was going to tell you
that 'They're not their' was incorrect
english! lol
My feet are going up!
Incidentally 97.1 almost made it clear into DE .........
Judi I remember when you and Shirley went to witness a release... Someday I
will be blessed to see that
Now my feet are up! Join me friends...
Jo - We can put it on our "bucket list."
That would be amazing to see. I would imagine tomorrow's event will be quite crowded.
I know what you mean daughter
just went through selling hers
and buying a used smaller car
and better gas mileage with
a lower payment.
Mema Jo sounds like Ed really
had to keep prepared for anything.
Sounds like he could hardly see.
So HAPPY you are BOTH home
safely!!!!!!!!!
Prayers for Suzan's that God
will help with whatever her
illness is. (((Hugs)))
Linda you are on the prayer list
too. Sorry for all you are going
through.
Andy happy neck/shoulder and
such pain has eased up. You have really done a great job at all that studying you had been doing. Now for it to pay off!!!
Lynn-Hedgie hope that pain will helps you. Sorry for all your going through with the leaks and now the door not closing.
I still say "spray with bitter
apple". Stopped many of my
friends dogs from chewing.
Wanda keeping GG in prayers also. Yes bless her heart she did feel better because it was numbed. Hoping the shot helps her.
Wanda thank you for the seeds
you sent. ( :
Lolly so glad to hear you are at the beach. Tues 12:37 comment you made. Sounds like all the family made it safely too. Have FUN!!!
Tuesday Morning hoping all have a good day.
Good Morning Lori for you itching you might try CalaGel. It is clear and when you rub it in it drys. Great for insect bites, poison Oak and Ivy itch relief. Even good
for minor cuts, scrapes, minor skin irritations.
Nice that you
are going to ask him for us ty. ( :
Mema Jo they had those recumbent bikes at the Wellness Center in Winchester. Ed used it with
his exercises.
Hi Dana - Glad you caught up. It can be a bit much at times.
The release is at the Berkeley Plantation in Charles City, VA
It will be broadcasted on the regular Norfolk website, so we should be able to see it live.
They say that is on the James River, so they should have some good hunting territory if they stay close by!!
Wish we could all be there, too.
The man handling the eagles is Ed Clark. Three were released that day.
That release was at Mason Neck State Park in Northern Virginia.
THANK YOU FOR THE NEW THREAD STEVE and the reading shall begin
I knew there was a new thread because of toooo few comments in my junk email to read LOL
Has anyone informed STEVE that we have no sound Just was wondering!
LORI I forgot to say I love the turtle story on your home page at work Love the wheel to cool
About to feed the NBG eagles for the last evening meal at their current location!!
It is a beautiful place for the release. Does anyone know how far from their original nest at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens this site is?
I wonder if they will make their way back to their NBG nest.
JUDIE - I'll send an email to LYNN who can forward it to you with the information you need...not that I know a lot.
Driving on Maquest ist shows 1 hr. 23 minutes from Charles City, Va. to Norfolk Botanical Garden.
From my place it is 3 hrs 42 minutes.
Still have the hot pink pants, Judie. In fact, you can see the pictures on my blog from July 25, 2009.
Of course it is much closer for the eagles time wise to fly back to Norfolk Botanical Garden.
Speaking of itch My daughter has discovered a home remedy plain meat tenderizer for mosquito bites she say works wonders
That sounds about right, DanaWV.
It would be shorter as the eagle flies.
Here they are for the feeding at NBG if anyone is interested!
So funny how those eaglets fly over and around the guy who is feeding them!!
I've heard meat tenderizer works by neutralizing the poison from bites, but I'm not a big meat eater...no tenderizer in the house.
LYNN you have mail for JUDIE
Its a bitter sweet moment with the eagle--this will be their almost last meal so sad but so happy that they will be out there for us to watch in the future
LINDA, thanks for the heads up! It's great to see a human in there to give some reference to the size of the space.
JudyE I think of all the places even our nest where they would have none nothing. The eaglets probably would have died.
Now they will have their chance for "soaring the skies" just as an eagle should. I know still some don't make it. I pray these three make it to adult hood.
There he is back.
lol he did the wiggle
Info from FB: new address.....
Bev Riffe bevriffe@comcast.net
Your welcome, Lori ☺
The eaglets are probably mad that all they have done so far is give them more water!! They are looking for the good stuff!!!
Did you happen to catch it when they were soaring down over Ben and Vinny? Amazing!!
Wow, all three of them jumped off the perch!! At just about the same time, too!
Thanks Mema Jo ( :
Shirley It is MUCH closer to you.
They're going to do a zoom after the guys are done!
At our last Open House Dinner. Didn't we send monies to this place. Cause this is where they keep Buddy at also isn't it??
I, too, like CalaGel better than anything, DanaWV. No pink junk....but it still SMELLS like caladryl! And that is one of my favorite smells. I always have a bottle on hand.
I've not watched a feeding at this location. The last time I saw feedings was when they still had the big nest.
JudyE---I think Paula brought the sound issue to Steve's attention last week.
LOL----so Momsters only rate your JUNK mailbox???? :(
All this talk of quitting smoking is great...of course, it's something I need to do and would like to do ASAP -but I'm so afraid of failing. I'd rather set myself up for success but don't know what to try this time.
Lori - I wouldn't know what to recommend, but we're certainly here for support. Just about every waking hour you could chime in when you want a cigarette and we'll talk you out of it!!
Linda, it's about 70 miles inland from the nest. Nest is in Norfolk; release site is along the James River upstream.
Lori, email forwarded to Judie!
Well I wonder if it is possible that they will head back that way???
It is doubtful that the eaglets will return to the nest area---at least not in the near future.
Meat tenderizer does work well, but like baking soda, it's messy! Do you know that in the old days, liquid meat tenderizer was used to dissolve food caught in someone's throat?? Pre-Heimlich days!
My favorite when I think of or see eagles. Well just my favorite verse Isaiah 40:31
But the that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.
Thanks LYNN for the forward and LINDA for the support --- love you guys!
I'm going to waddle off to bed now since it's been a no nap day.
Have a good night everyone. I love you all and wish you wonderful, peaceful sleep. Prayers for Sharon's friend, and Lolly's Jack, and for Candy.
Thanks for asking your Dad, Lori.
I do have a sheet of exercises that, of course I am tending to now that I am in so much pain!! The key is going to be to stick with those exercises. The night splints really do help with that stiffness in the morning.
Thanks again! ♥
How is your Mom doing, Lori?
Wishing you restful sleep and sweet dreams, Lori ♥
Mason's update from July 23
I wasn't here and I'm hoping this isn't
a repeat but such encouraging words
concerning Mason's daily recovery that
it's a "read again" article from his
dad.
Thank you, Lori. I'll check my mail.
Jo, Margy filled in for you and posted the Mason update!
Linda, we can only hope and pray. I still don't know why they weren't moved to a hatch-box first.....
One of the eaglets is perched on that wooden box like thing right now kind of staring at the camera!
It sure will be a busy day for them again tomorrow.
We can all pray for their safety and well being from here on out, that is for sure!
Lynn, What is a hatch box? I have heard of the hatch tower at the NC Raptor Center. Is that the same thing?
Good afternoon all. I too wonder about the Norfolk Eaglets and their release tomorrow. I hope they do not confuse other humans as possible food sources, since they are used to sweeping down over humans and are rewarded by food...yet they said that it is in an area where there are adult eagles so maybe they will learn from them...I wish them well.
Good Afternoon Hoda!! Nice to see you!
Yes, Linda....tower is what I actually meant to say!
Howdy, Hoda!
What is a hatch tower and how does it help them?
Liesl just decided she wanted to play ball----little imp! She is really doing very well with bringing it back to me and dropping it!! Still need to get inm one more "lesson" for the day, but will wait until after dinner.
Please continue your prayers for Robyn and Tori that will be leaving August 5th to see the specialist in Colorado. It still seems that "only a lung transplant will correct Tori's condition".
Most definitely will continue prayers for Robyn and Tori. How is Tori doing now? Has she been able to stay home since she was released from the hospital without any incidents?
News alert----Judge Perry ruled that Anthony jurors names are to be released.......
Linda, a hatch tower serves as a kind of halfway-house....fledglings leave the nest and keep returning for 6 weeks or so as they learn their lessons. Supplemental food is put in the towers, since trhey don't have parents assisting them with provisions.
Windy at the nest...camera is acting up, goes with horizontal lines. Interesting shadow designs, and no eagles!!!
Linda, I think Tori has been stable since she got home....she had a follow-up apptmt. today at Children's satellite facility near Judie. Haven't heard anything yet.
Hoda, same cam stuff for me, too. Wind is quite gusty here, too.
LYNN The motion of the leaves is like wings flapping and when I am not looking directly at it I trick my self into thinking eagle wings...I wish!!!
Thanks for all the answers, Lynn!!
So sorry you have such a mess and no idea when things will be back to normal. Wonder why he isn't going to work this weekend?
Gotta go fix dinner.
BBL
Don't kill the messanger please
ost recent attack occurred Monday at the Fair Oaks Mall
OMG I just got off the phone with June in NC she since 4:47 talk long time I have such dry mouth from talking so much and now I heading out to eat BBL still have to read todays blog since 1:27
Saw that on the news, Dana.....sicko on the loose...guess he'll be nicknamed The Slasher.
Linda, turns out painter works at Lowe's---in the paint dept. Bet he paid a lot less for the product than what he charged me! He apparently also teaches some music students, and he performs at the Rumsey Tavern at the Clarion where we momsters gather for our meals.
Time to practice HEELING! BBL!
Is anyone else have camera issue intermittent fuzzy around the leaves odd lines (small ones)Weird in away sort of hazy when the wind blows ok now out of here just had to ask
Yes JUDY E Camera is acting up because of the wind. LYNN said she was experiencing it there too...Have a delicious supper.
Hedgie-Lynn sounds like he has taken on too much to do.
The nest area continues to be windy, but the dramatic shadow play is gone as it is rather sunny over there now...
I got my son the electric cig for his birthday and he loves it hasn't had but 10 cigs since the 30 and that was when it was charging You get the nicotine but
not all the nasty tar etc
I'm so glad he enjoys helping others:)
We had a wonderful supply of clothing, shoes and toiletries that nearly flew off the racks and shelves.
SHARON, Karen is on my prayer list.
Back to mowing...
WANDA so good to hear that things went so well at the SOup Kitchen. The menu sounded delicious and what a blessing that you all are able to provide what people are needing in the store part of the experience.AWESOME.
Wanda, your Dustin is a wonderful young man. He helped me when I visited the nest last year.\
BTW! Thank you for the seeds. Received them today. Can't wait to plant both.
God bless you, Capt. & Dustin for all you do for us and others.
Over on FB, Candy's sister commented
to us that...
"I am Candy's sister. She called me briefly to say that all is well and her operation went just fine"
Keep praying for her to recover and heal
swiftly. ((hug)) ♥
Great Garden Joke Kay!....... oh my
Going to visit granddaughter and she
said tomatoes would be waiting for me and did I want any zucchini? I asked was it in a loaf or was it muffins?
BAD MEMA !!
I should have bolded CANDY's name - 2 comments up
Another interesting day on this blog, full of good hints for living, remedies, good information and links as well as the sharing of prayer requests.
I ate, too, but thirsty, so bb1~~
Jo, love your cat avatar.
Jim's been saying to feed Missy on
the table because Bandit is too fat to jump up that far. ☺☺
Oh my manners!! Hello everyone.
I've been meeting with the morning crew the last 2 days and I think I'm back on schedule.
Time to spend some time with Jim.
bbl ♥♥♥♥
Catalina has a eagle in it #18
a very noisy 18
Had the NBG eaglets online at their rehab place & all 3 ended up on the big swing perch. Hope I can get that channel tomorrow at Chelsea.
RETRACT! Now they say that Perry decided to keep juror names secret for a bit longer!
I guess 18 is calling for food
I think our eagles have stood us up once again. :(
I know that Ed Clark knows what he's doing....just wish there were explanations as to why, since it is a diffrent scenario from what we're used to!!
Two Harbors and West End both have eagle in the Boy #18 is still calling out
I was thinking the same thing so far I haven't seen the cam move of course I have been watch 18 also I sure wish I knew if they were in the area
that should have been watching I forgot my ing I hate that when it happens LOL
Hoda That is so sad about Jack Layton. Prayers for him and those all around him.
Heading for recliner
Now the West End eagle has joined in the calling but he is laying in the nest
Thanks, Paula---I KNEW that hatch didn't sound right, but I couldn't come up with the right word!!!
So great that Candy's
sis posted.....I had just checked a little before dinner to see if there was any news. All sounds well!
I do believe we are going to be stood up again also so I am heading for some mind numbing TV
I probably won't be up early since I don't have to be to work till 9 I love my sleep time and being my luck if I get up they won't be there
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
Well I'm calling it a day

Kay, glad you stopped in!
Cute zucchini joke!
Light just came on..
Goodnight, JudyE....and Kay---part of the early bird contingent!
Wanda, excellent turnout for woup kitchen! Congrats.
SOUP kitchen!!
Loved the joke
Wanda the menu sounded delicious.
So glad Dustin has found his way at the Soup Kitchen ( : Happy things are working out for the clothing and needs shop.
Oh, and JudyE, they did give the Norfolk triplets some live fish, I think it was last week.
Kay, I love Reader's Digest...I should probably subscribe to it...My Mom always did, and we took them to the beach.
Wanda, great soup kitchen menu, glad Dustin enjoyed it!
Had the dogs out running tonight, after I got the WHOLE yard mowed and trimmed!
LOL Jo, that is too funny about the zucchini! And thanks for the update on Candy, I haven't been over to FB yet.
Thanks!
PAULA - I think they may have put live fish in the tubs tonight, too. The guys that fed the eaglets didn't say whether they were alive or not, but they came and posted that they gave each eaglet three fish and they put three fish in the water for them to get later.
Don't know if they would be alive or dead!
Paula - you just commented that you had
the (dogs) out running
Is that just out of habit, gal?
((hugs))
Prayers for your friend Connie, Linda.
evening all!
Linda, Connie will have prayers from
Momsters, I'm sure. She is in His
loving hands and in His care.
We'll be anxious to hear from you
tomorrow or the next day as to how
well Connie did. ((hugs))
Glad to read the message that Candy's surgery was successful and that she is OK!
And very nice to read about another successful soup kitchen, and Dusting helpin!
The bulldog and the pool video was too cute!
Helping.....that's what I meant!
Will do, Linda ♥
Jo, my next door neighbor has a lab named Coby, he and Nick love to play and run around together. They have both been very good staying in the front yard while off leash.
Lynn That is a funny typo!
Woup Woup (Sounds like a fog horn)
Diann, you have a cat that weights THIRTY POUNDS??????? I'm going to feel the need to lecture you on the health hazards!!!
Now I remember that Nick was to have a
play date with Cody! I think that is
great but you caught me off guard
Prayers for Connie.
Congrats to Wanda and the Capt. on a successful soup kitchen.
Lori and Lynn, thank you. Lori, will be in touch. Would love to have you "scoop" any competition.
The night light is on for anyone who needs to arise in the night and for those who come in late from the West Coast. Restful sleep for all.
Thanks for all the Momster prayers!! Momsters Rock!!
Oh Hoda, you have lots of nice sightings while paddling.
Lynne, hope that Brother Cat does not have cancer.
Lynne, let's hope that Bro Cat just wants to be hairless for the summer.
Hoda, great that you were able to paddle despite the precip. And so nice that the osprey entertained you and the ducks kept you company!
Loretta, I find it so amazing that the frogs can make SO much noise and still be so illusive!
Linda, is your driveway very long?
Oh, yes, forgot---prayer's for the young man that Dana mentioned. Too much pancreatitis in young people these days....worrisome.
Hi,
The video of the dog pulling the pool into the house was just on CNN.
I am burning out on car shopping. Half the dang people don't call back anyway. Worse than looking for a job! Anyone got a cheap car for sale???
watching Animal Extractors on Nat Geo Wild....really cool extraction of a huge bee hive from an old house.
Removing a black bear in Tahoe. Pretty interesting show.
Well, we're upstairs in bed and Dennis has already fallen asleep.
Shhhh I'm sneaking a little more blog time before I turn in!! Just wanted to check in for a little while!
Lynne - Sorry the car shopping is such a pain.
Lynn - Our driveway is kind of long - not too long! I don't know! It is definitely much larger than your average driveway that would handle four cars.
Dennis put my car in the barn so I can go to work tomorrow. I am not going in until the eagles release is over!!
Lynne, wish I knew someone with a car to sell!
I'll bet you do have some rough days at your job (((Hugs)))
Heading to bed, I'm beat
Watch out for the split!
(((Hugs for all)))♥
HODA - It's great that you're so active!! You must be in good shape with all that yoga and paddling!
I'm sure you could do that yoga on the paddle boards with no problem!!
sure do Paula...it's been a long time since I've worked at a "real" vet hospital. But my coworkers ROCK as do the bosses. Great support and good humor, and just enough fuzzy kittens and loveable old dogs to equalize it all out!
Lynne, my daughter has a friend selling a YELLOW VW bug! Don't know details but I can find out!
Nite Paula and Nick!
I think I'm heading to bed as well. I want to get up earlier tomorrow. Maybe even pop in on the early birds. Not REAL early, but earlier than normal for me!!
Sweet dreams to all and prayers for all!!
Good Night!
