Thanks for callover, Kay!

Hoda, I could not live without ice "on tap" 24/7/365!!!! All I drink is iced tea!

Cool----Condoleeza Rice was present for the unveiling of the Reagan statue in London!!

Pretty bad news report out of FL----family there on vacay from TEXAS...man got bitten by a rattlesnake. Gee---he could have stayed home and had that experience!!!

Kay said...

MARGY, I love that touching picture of James at the gravesite !

JUDY, the fireworks kicked off here on Friday night and there have been some Sat/Sun and tonight so all the burbs can get theirs in. Tonight there will be Clintonville boomers 2 miles south of me and Worthington boomers 2 miles north. Each 4th it seems like I'm in the middle of a war zone !☺

HODA, it must be the AZ desert rat in my, but I use ice cubes, lots of them, year round. I have iced tea every day, too, LYNN. My idea of a good drink is, you fill a glass to the top with cubes and then you add the beverage ! Getting along without an icemaker would be roughing it to me !

Kay said...

HODA, that should be AZ desert rat in me----or in my blood---take your pick !

Kay said...

LOLLY, JACK and their homemade ice cream are heading for Denton ! LOLLY, your outfit sounds stunning ! Will hope for pics or video. Would love to hear Joey sing. How is his diet going, by the way ? I wondered how he would manage while camping out and being faced with the delectables I know you all had.

Kay said...

Sheetz had no lemonade, now ain't that the pits ?

magpie said...

Good One, our resident Punster Kay !
Oh, we could very well have some real boomers to go with the fireworks later...

Thanks for the Call Over Kay!

Thanks Steve for the New Thread, and to you and your NCTC Staff for keeping that Nest Cam going for us ! Happy Holiday!

Hello,

Settled into my recliner with the new computer on my lap. Kathryn and Hunter are both back home. We went out and bought some crab legs and corn on the cob. I have coleslaw to make, so we are ready for a nice supper. Both Kathryn and Hunter have seen fireworks already this weekend, and I am perfectly happy to watch fireworks on TV. I am wondering if it might not rain. It is raining now, and has been so hot and humid today.

I am pretty tired this evening. Last night, Lucky decided to tell me cat things at about 2:00 AM and again about 3:00 AM. Loud meows both times. He was missing Kathryn. I picked him up and put him on my bed; he growled, hissed, and ran off. Okay, Lucky, be that way!!

JudyEddy said...

VWGAL DANA use ibuprofen or Motrin I have never had any luck with Tylenol product for pain

I'm at 1:00pm comments 58 to go I'll be there shortly LOL

Kay said...

LYNN, I wish I could drink my tea straight. Grew up on Mother's Oklahoma sweet tea and can't get over it ! I use a bit of Splenda nowdays.

Thinking of you and MARGY as you head for GG's and a grand evening with her, WANDA, GENE et al ! My best to the whole bunch !

Kay said...

What ? LYNN, is it your impression that they are going to reconvene for all the jury comings and goings ? Judge Perry, Casey n' everybody ?

JudyEddy said...

Looks like the fireworks are going to be rained on pop up storms are heading this way BIG LINE OF SHOWERS in TAMPA NOW I may have to sign off

JudyEddy said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
JudyEddy said...

BIG LINE OF SHOWERS OK lets try it one more time

JudyEddy said...

YEP it worked the storm is in Tampa now so I may have to shut her down

Hoda said...

I drink my tea straight too and usually hot. I am partial to ice tea with lemon as a treat...Mom Batchelder used to steep her tea in the Oklahoma sun, when she lived there, and it took a bit longer when she did the same thing on Cape Cod...It made the tea very dark and clear...delicious.

Kay said...

HODA, P.E.I. did it up right, didn't they ? Kate is so cute in ponytail and navy theme dress ! Beautiful couple !

Kay said...

SHIRLEY, LOL Lucky ! Just like a cat and so different from the way a dog would have snuggled in ! Hope you'll get a good nights sleep tonight now that Lucky's family is home !

stronghunter said...

I do not know if I will be taking the computer back this week. The high school is closed all week. I do not know about the central office.

Can no longer access my school e-mail. I am sure I have been removed from the list.

Kay said...

I'm getting no sound with the nest cam. No thunks n' clunks being heard here. :(

stronghunter said...

BBL.

Kay said...

SHIRLEY, I'm sure it's kind of a strange feeling to find you've been removed from the school computer. You may not be in their puter system, but are, I'm sure, not forgotten ! Rejoice in the sign that you really are Retired and free to move about the country !!!!

Kay said...

HODA, I used to make sun tea in AZ and it is a lovely clear color with good flavor. Here in OH where the sun sometimes hides I've become very fond of my Hamilton Beach ice tea maker ! I drink coffee black and can't figure out why I can't do the same with tea.

NatureNut said...

Thank you for the 4th Celebration Thread, Steve!
Just talked to daughter in TX~~~no fireworks there---burn ban even at lake in Austin. She lives about 30 miles away & fireworks are done at Park on (little) Colorado River that runs right thru Bastrop. One place is doing a laser light show. So Lolly is lucky to see something at her side of TX!
BTW, I've always had the big red and white icon for Blog on my desktop. Today I thought it was gone, but NO!It changed itself into a round earth globe! As a test, I sent shortcut on Fubby's desktop and got the Big B!!! DUH!!!
Getting cloudy here, but weatherman doesn't think will be anything to bother fireworks.
JudyE, hope you don't get rained out. Hope it's the usual FL rain-in & out!!

Kay said...

The neighborhood pyrotechnic "kids" are already competing with their sizzlers n' whistlers, even though it won't be dark for about 3 hours. I hold my breath. About 30 years ago when I was in real estate in Tucson, a vacant house I had listed was heavily damaged when an errant firecracker landed on it's roof.

Kay said...

DANAMO, I just ran back over the posts and see that you came sneaking through with a sweet "Happy Independence Day". Sorry we all misted it ! Hope your family has had a great holiday---maybe a poolside cookout ?

glo said...

In Honor of the beautiful birds that drew us all together I just stopped in to say Happy July 4th everyone,

Kay said...

We missed it, DANAMO. Our eyes misted over as we read your message and realized you cared enough to say, Hey !☺

Lynne2 said...

MISTED it??? LOL!

Hello all and Happy Birthday America!

We had another working/fun weekend getting a LOT accomplished at my MILs.

Haven't read back but I sure hope everyone is well and having a fun weekend!

HODA give the camera a test drive before the rowing just take a video of nature of something practice makes perfect Just a thought

Hoda said...

Lynne 2 is back...WELCOME HOME I hope you had a great weekend.

Good to read Glo and DanaMo entries too...

It was a liberating feeling for me when the school district took me off the email list Shirley...Enjoy your new computer.

JudyEddy said...

I have read the blog and the storm is upon us just got off the phone with son Getting noisy out and its not fire works

Lynne2 said...

We finally saw several pairs of Bobolinks out in the back field there! Found a Luna Moth, too. And another kind. They seemed to like hanging out on the big flag in front. OH, and while working in the yard, I found a robin nest with four eggs in the baby crab apple tree!

Daisy had a bit of a rough time though. It stormed late Saturday, and then again yesterday afternoon and last night late again. Between, there were fireworks going off all over. (although very cool to have a mountain top view of displays in several locations!) I think she is glad to be home!

JudyEddy said...

SHIRLEY what kind of puter did you get I still want to get one one day then I will need a router I think got to figure out what all it entails to have one with a desktop also I will buy the cheapest since this is my main one for pic just want one I can sit down on rocking chair with so cheap should do it I would say I hope

Hoda said...

I laugh JudyE as I think my cell phone takes video also. Best probably to concentrate on the regular camera since I know how to download from the camera to the computer or is the right word upload??? Good idea to practice is right...

I just hope when I actually get to record the Dragon Boat Paddling that you all are not disappointed...so I put this worry aside I think it serves only to make me more anxious.

JudyEddy said...

LYNN2 Aww baby eggs to cool

JudyEddy said...

LM being engaged with storm comin BBL

Lynne2 said...

Steve will have to make a trip to the dentist tomorrow. Of all bad timing....he's got a terrible toothache. It's bad enough that he's getting pretty miserable at this point, and add to that, no more dental insurance.

Anyway, that's about it for catching up....need to go fold clothes and switch over the washer load to the dryer.

Hoda said...

Very strong winds at the nest...The leaves move and the railing beneath is now totally covered in the Virginia Vine, I could hear the wid also...I wonder if they will show up with such a wind?

JudyEddy said...

They have landed in winds higher than this sometimes we thought they would blow out of the nest

Hoda said...

Lynne 2 so sorry Steve has a toothache and do you have clove in the house? If he puts some on his tooth it will take the pain away. Sorry also for having to go to the dentist without dental insurance. My dentist does it with a sliding scale...lower for no insurance and lower yet for being out of work...I hope you can make a deal with the dentist.

JudyEddy said...

LYNN2 Check with your health dept we have some assistance

Lynne2 said...

thanks Hoda...no I don't have any clove in the house. I am pretty sure our dentist will work something out with us, I hope.

Kay said...

HODA, not to worry ! We just want you to have a grand time--if you get pics, great--if you don't, there will be another time. We don't want you stressing over such a thing !

How nice to hear from you, GLO ! How is your daughter ? She's still on our prayer list !

LYNNE, good to have you back ! Glad you had a productive weekend, but had time to enjoy fireworks. All except for Daisy, that is. What beauties you beheld, Luna Moth, Bobolinks, Robin's nest---lovely !

Well, what do you know, all of a sudden the nest cam sound came on. Can only hear wind, but at least it's working for a change.

Kay said...

LYNNE, do you have alcohol in the house, as in Bourbon ? Just a dab on and around the tooth can ease the pain---Numbs It for baby's gums is high in alcohol content as I recall.

JudyEddy said...

this is a must see

Just awesome this was on eaglecamaddicts from 2007

Kay said...

LYNNE, went to my health folder and found this.

TOOTHACHE: Make a paste of one teaspoon of cinnamon powder and five teaspoons of honey and apply on the aching tooth. This may be applied three times a day until the tooth stops aching.

Until the tooth stops aching ? How about til' you can get to the dentist !☺

Hoda said...

There goes again a large camera shake and the thud on the camera. Not the wind I do not think

JudyEddy said...

That nest had three adults at the end is that the nest that had a three some that was mentioned back in March?????

JudyEddy said...

the attic has something making noise

JudyEddy said...

That could be a branch I guess also

Oh I hope I didn't cause a ruckus over the camera didn't want to make waves no pun intended

Kay said...

JUDY, great video, by our GLO, aka eliasgrammy, I believe. There was something about 3 adult eagles there, but I can't recall the details. All three look mighty puzzled as to what happened ! Wonder how long it took for one to go fishin' ?

JudyEddy said...

Didn't it make you feel sooo good I loved it I posted on the Shepherdstown page also

JudyEddy said...

Is that storms I hear at the nest?????

stronghunter said...

Hi,

Dinner is over, dishes in dishwasher.

Kathryn and Hunter are on the porch giving Luna a bath. Kathryn thinks that maybe she should wash away some of the Frontline.

My new computer is a Dell Inspiron. I got it at Costco.

Noticed with the rest of you that the sound has come on. I hear clunking sounds, but it could be the wind.

Hoda said...

Oh BUT WHY DID THEY TAKE THE EGGS AND WHERE DID THE CHICKS COME FROM?WHY WERE THEY NOT LEFT IN THEIR ORIGINAL NESTS?
Good question how long did it take them to figure it out and go fishing???So many questions the video brings up for me...also how come three adults on one nest??? There is a lot I do not know...

stronghunter said...

I will have to check out that video.

Kathryn said that she saw lots of Ospreys at the river place. They were fighting over fish. The nest seems to be deserted.

JudyEddy said...

hodathis is what was on the video on facebook some of it
After the onslaught of DDT the eagles nests in CA continue to recover some still with a little human intervention. Watch as Dr Sharpe makes a return visit to.....

JudyEddy said...

light is leaving the nest and I still here clunking oh its rain I think

stronghunter said...

Lots of different features on this computer that I am having to get used to.

I do have a desktop in my bedroom, but I have gotten too used to having a laptop now. I haven't used the desktop in years. It was doing all kinds of strange things when I stopped using it.

JudyEddy said...

th dr put the chick back in the nest after he hatched them they were th eagles real eggs that they took out from what I understand just wanted to make sure of ddt it was on the Eagle Cam Addit page on face book are you friend with them

JudyEddy said...

SHIRLEY has demons in her old dest top and wow that was thunder on the cam

JudyEddy said...

I think with the storm they aren't going to show up WOW the tree is swaying

Hoda said...

I thought it was Dr. Sharpe!!! Thanks JudyE for the quote from face book. I had read that they had taken some of the fragile eggs and hatched them in a lab. This was from another video where Dr. Sharpe was talking about his being a grandfather, he felt like one because of the chicks who are now eagles and having their own chicks with the shells strong enough to remain in the nest...This now makes sense.THANKS JUDY E...

JudyEddy said...

Our storm went over north of me so the neighbor are out in full force BOOM BOOM POW big time and thats just the neighbors and wait till later still storming north people seem to be waiting I wish I had a mic so you could hear I hope they get it out of their systems before nite nite time BBL LM

Hoda said...

But THREE adult eagles on one nest!!!that still remains a puzzle for me...

JudyEddy said...

BIG lighten flash there I hope the eagles are safe somewhere a tree isn't safe in my book LM

JudyEddy said...

DID I say I was watching the trial I did set the DVR for both channels today Yeah ME

JudyEddy said...

YES HODA THERE WAS A CASE OF A NEST IN CALF WITH THREE I REMEMBER IT FROM WHEN I JOINED IN MARCH I JUST MAY GO LOOK IN THE MARCH 20 OR AFTER MAYBE

JudyEddy said...

I did leave a question on the eaglecam addict page and ask about the three adults in the end was it a threesome hope they answer I will let you know of course if they do

Hoda said...

Well the rain at the nest makes it look as if the feed was coming from Nelson BC !!! LOL !!!

Hoda said...

Thanks JUDY E...I will try to go back to the March blog also and see what was said. I appreciate your letting me know when they answer you about the three adults.

PAULA would probably know, I think she watches the California nests and she knows Dr. Sharpe

Judie said...

Lynne2, sorry about Steve having a toothache and not having dental insurance makes it even more painful. I hope all will be resolved quickly.

JudyEddy said...

1992 to 2008 that nest West End had a three some going on funny Go figure its I guess on the page with the video I haven't checked yet Sue on FB posted it

JudyEddy said...

I now wonder that happened to the three some and that was a long time 1992 to 2008

JudyEddy said...

I asked Sue on the page what happened will let you know ok BBL

stronghunter said...

Watching the fireworks in DC. Spectacular!

stronghunter said...

Good night, Judy.

Lynne2 said...

oh yay, my yahoooooo neighbors are setting of fireworks and poor Daisy has HAD IT.

Shirley, hope Luna is doing better today.

Been reading back at the speed of light.....sounds like I'll be needing to order an extra large MOMSTER size roll of bubble wrap for feet, knees and heads!

stronghunter said...

I think Luna is better today, Lynne, but Kathryn found irritated spots in several places, including her neck, so she is collarless.

Luna has sensitive skin.

She has been bathed and medicated with Benadryl.

Lynne2 said...

aw that sucks Shirl, maybe the vet will put her on some pred tomorrow? Has she had Frontline on her in the past? Pretty rare for a reaction, but it's been know to happen for sure. But if it was more than 48 hours post application, the baths won't remove it. But the baths will make her feel better! Be careful to apply cortisone cream to places she cannot lick only. Spot washing with dilute Dail liquid soap can help, but as Lynn said, dryness is really important so use the blow dryer on the low setting. Sure hope she feels better soon. Hot spots are the worst.

Happy 4th Again!!

Enjoying the Macy's Fireworks in the confort of our living room so we could stay home with our dog who FREAKS out with thunder and fireworks that go BOOM!!

SHIRLEY - Glad you got the laptop home and working okay and that Luna's hotspot is looking better!

LYNNE2 - WELCOME HOME!! Now we can sing along with the fireworks! I'm sure you're tired, but glad you're home safe and sound!

HODA - Thanks again, for loving our country as we do!!

KAY - I know you said you'd be home, too!! No bugs, no traffic and a birds eye view!!

We went to a friend's today for a cookout and party at their lake, but came home early for Riley (our dog). It was fun. They have such a great set up and lots of people and food. Was a beautiful day in the mid 70's and low humidity.

Geeze.....I have lots of catching up to do again......

Lynne2 said...

oh, and the dose for benedryl in dogs is 1/2 - 2 mg per pound. I'd split the difference and go with 1 mg per pound.

Linda said...

MARGY - Touching avatar.. ♥

LYNN - I'm like you!! I like my beverage with ICE!! Love that ice maker in the fridge! Although, I don't drink my water all day too cold, so I will drink more!!

UNSWEETENED TEA FOR ME!!

WOW, Lynne - do you think we could sing like Leanne Rimes is singing now?? Accapella.....Amazing Grace!! Awesome!

Linda said...

Hoping LYNN, MARGY, and WANDA are enjoying their time together. Wish we weren't all so far apart :(

Lynne2 said...

oh no Linda, I'm now watching the DC fireworks and we are singing ELVIS...and American Trilogy.....OH I WISH I WERE IN DIXIE

Linda said...

GLO.....Thanks for stopping in to say Hi and wish us a Happy 4th!! Wishing you a Happy Independence Day on this wonderful day. We sure do miss you and wish we'd see more of you!!!

stronghunter said...

Hi CarolAnn,

Good to see you. It has been awhile.

BEagle said...

Happy Independence Day to everyone. I sure hope you are having a fine holiday.

Sorry to hear about Steve's toothache though. Ouch.

I did a little personal dedication of this day to our will be long remembered Liberty and Bell.

Linda said...

Ooooops, Lynne! We watched that already. Hmmmm The six barges along the Hudson with the fireworks in unison is nothing short of amazing to watch.

Anyway, you missed an awesome song with Leanne Rimes singing accapella Amazing Grace!!

stronghunter said...

We went outdoors for awhile. It is like a war is going on around here. Large fireworks to the east and west. One mortar landed on the street about a half block away. Loud explosions everywhere. I came back in and found that the critters needed comforting.

Linda said...

Lynne - Dennis is dealing with a pretty bad toothache, too. It was bad for about 10 days, then got better for about a week, and now it's back. He has even been to the dentist several times in the last few months. They probably stirred something up!!!

Hope Steve feels better soon. Toothaches are NO FUN!

Lynne2 said...

saw the Macy's finale!

Linda said...

Hi BEagle! Happy 4th to you, too!!

Hope you had a great weekend and Independence Day today!

Lynne2 said...

you know Shirley, when we were sitting outside Saturday night, and it was still very cloudy from the storm, we could here the echos of fireworks, and see just flashes off in the distance. It really gave me the chills, thinking that it sounded like what so many people, both now and in the past, have heard and seen as the battles of war were closing in.....

Lynne2 said...

Oh shoot Linda....hope Dennis feels better sooon too! Steve has had a problem for some time, on and off, with all of his remaining upper teeth. We should have had them all pulled as planned last summer when we still had the insurance.

Linda said...

Why am I so tired after sitting outside all day hanging out with friends and watching the kids have a blast in the lake and on the jet skis? I didn't even do anything!! LOL

Lynne2 said...

Hi BEagle, yep, I did too.....

stronghunter said...

When our Sassafras was an older dog, I came indoors on the 4th to find her walking around peeing all over the house. Poor thing.

stronghunter said...

After the big explosion down the street, we drove down to make sure no one was hurt, but we did not see anyone. We do not know what happened, but it was obviously not supposed to happen that way.

Linda said...

Thanks, Lynne! ♥

BEagle said...

Poor lil Sassafras. Fireworks can be traumatic.

Shucks... I missed Leanne Rimes singing Amazing Grace w/o music?
Oh no...it will take a while to live that down! She's awesome.

I have to make this visit short. Got to go out then to hit hay.

Prayers for all of you esp. Steve-O's tooth and that you find the way to fix everything.

Lynne2 said...

OK folks, heading to bed. Good night and prayers for you all, and GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Linda said...

Good Night, Lynne! Sweet Dreams!! God Bless You!

stronghunter said...

Luna and Flash calmed down when we came in.

I am sure it is not just the noise but also the smell. The whole neighborhood smells like gunpowder.

Linda said...

SHIRLEY - Hopefully things will quiet down now. In FL, they did fireworks all over the place past midnight. It was so tough on the animals!

We closed up the house and turned the a/c on to help the noise!

Funny dog story--

I went over to Will's apartment to get him to help me with the computer. I had taken my CD notebook and was going through the CD's there, and West, Will's
roommate's Jack Russell, started climbing the wall. Literally climbing the wall. And doing pretty well at it.

It turns out that West was seeing the reflections on the wall from the CD's. He knows to look for them there because wristwatches and all kinds of jewelry cause reflections on that wall.

West can be seen greeting a lobster on my blog.

Hello Eagle Pals

Back from a wonderful picnic at GG's
with Lynn, Wanda, Gene, their daughter Denise, Grandson Brandon and gal pal Katie, and great friend "Q"
also GG of course! And another little trio of cousins...
Rain did cause cancellation of fireworks, but we had enough fireworks of our own ☺ Just talking and laughing and eating fabulous food fare

magpie said...

I live the closest to home, so made it back here first...the others should be just about home by now also

Will check back and see what YOU ALL have been up to...

Fireworks show postponed until tomorrow night...
it was close, they probably could have almost had them...but there was quite a rainfall between 8 and 9:30

stronghunter said...

I know I have told this story before, but I'll tell it again--

Will was playing with West with the laser pointer. He had West chase the pointer up to the laundry room door and then turned it off and went in the other room, but West kept trying to get into the laundry room.

Will had to come back and bring the light away from the laundry room and point it somewhere else so that West would not think the thing he was chasing was IN the laundry room.

Linda said...

God gives us strength beyond our understanding. I truly believe and KNOW that!!

As much as I would love to stay up and hear about LYNN, MARGY and WANDA's 4th celebration with Gene, GG and Wanda's family as well as LOLLY's fun at Laurel's tonight......the sandman is hitting me as well.

I hope you ALL had a wonderful 4th celebration honoring our independence and those in our military who have fought for our freedom. Thank you to them for their service. We really can't thank them enough!

Special prayers for SHARON as she recouperates, for Lynne's Steve and his toothache, for TORI's healing, for Robyn going through all of this, for Bre's Dad, for Lori and her Mom, for Gene, for PAULA and NICK's safe return home, and for all aches and ailments for our momsters, dadsters and families.

Sweet dreams ♥♥♥ Prayers for all in need. ♥♥♥ Thank you for your warmth and friendship ♥♥♥

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

Funny story, SHIRLEY!!

MARGY - So happy to hear you had a fun night. Sorry the fireworks were postponed :(

Was waiting to hear how much fun was had. No surprise that it was a wonderful picnic!

Night ♥♥♥

stronghunter said...

It was raining here, too, Margy, but there were all kinds of fireworks. Big ones.

It looked like there were two big shows near us, one to the north and one to the south, but I do not know who was putting them on.

stronghunter said...

Sounds like a wonderful celebration, Margy. I am glad you all were able to get together.

I am having a little trouble getting used to the new keyboard. It has a number pad, so I have to focus on a different section.

I'm trying hard to avoid adding too many new words to our Momster dictionary.

magpie said...

I haven't seen a spello aka typo yet, Shirley
seems you are doing fine

Hugs were duly delivered to Gene, Wanda and GG....
Gene had Plan B and moved all the picnic arrangements into the garage...Wanda was taking some pictures and Denise also, maybe they will be available in the next day or so
Yes, lovely evening, lovely people...

noisy here and all around also, Shirley, guess most people here and there went ahead and set off their fireworks, still are in fact

hedgie said...

Good late evening! I'm home after a delightful evening with wonderful hostesses and host. Yummy dinner....fireworks were rained out...but good company is what is important!!!!

Kay, Judge Perry told them he would see them all at 8:30 in the AM....so guess that is the plan....dumb if you ask me!

hoda, I used to make sun tea, too---my SIL still does. However, recent reports talk about "brewing" bacteria.... :(

Kay....the coinky dinks are mounting: I used to sell real estate, too!!!!

Hi, Glo!! Glad you stopped in!

Shirley, it's amazing how quickly they can remove us once we are gone....kind of like: "here's your hat, don't let the door hit you on the way out!"

But, hey.....don't look back! Only ahead!

Fourth Celebrations still on TV---Macy's--great fireworks. They must have about 6 spots where duplicate shots go off at same time!!!
DC had great guests this year---Josh Grobin--one of the best.
Nearby Rec. Ctr. shot off some fireworks. Had to walk up the street as a curbside treee has grown enough to block the view. Got about 40 to save. Not very good---blurry (they're moving), but colorful!
Gotta do the do for AM work---BOO.
So, Pleasant Feather Dreams to all ;>)

hedgie said...

JudyE---I think we had previously talked about the eagle threesome at the nest along the Potomac River outside DC (near the Wilson Bridge).

magpie said...

Wishing you luck Pa Nana Diann, and praying that you get the results and the relief that you need !
(( hugs ♥ ))

Hoda, West End is part of the Channel Islands and Cataline Island project of Sr. Peter Sharpe. They were not having any luck hatching because the eggs were too thin due to DDT poisoning. Dr. Sharpe would remove the eggs from the nest, replace them with dummies, and hatch the chicks in an incubator. At the appropriate time, he returned the chicks to the nests.
So successful that now the population out there is fantastic!!! No to worry---all is well!!! Google it and you will find plenty of videos about the project, and wonderful Dr. Sharpe!

Ready to call it quits for the evening. I will have to make some phone calls tomorrow to see if I can return the computer.

OK, what's up with Lori's Mom??

Not going to be able to catch up on other thread....

Saw Margy and Lynn went to Wanda's and had a great time.

We saw lots of fireworks on the way home....especially in Gaithersburg, just about drove under them, they were at the fairgrounds which is right next to 270 ...

Nick and I had a great weekend at the beach...he was off the leash all weekend, never once had any intention of running off...got to make a new friend, (Gracie, we call her the dingo dog!) and he loves Michael and Laura and my brother Steve, and my neighbor Tim who gave him a treat ☺

He ran up and down the beach at full speed, chased Gracie, Gracie chased him, got in the water, and tore up a bed pillow and a box of Suddenly Salad ☺

We went to the fireworks in Crisfield last night, on the water. Really cool...it was at a marina, lots of people on boats blowing their horns. We also picked up a couple of dozen crabs and had those before the fireworks, then afterwards came home and drank margaritas and played scrabble.

Had a fantastic weekend! Hope everyone is doing well, please fill me in on anything important I may have missed!

CarolAnne....as with so many facebook lonks, it just takes me to my own FB page. ARGH! So irritating. What was it about???

Thanks for the updates, Margy!

Bird sighting today, was one juvie eagle headed from north to south, and then a little while later, 3 opsreys flying overhead...2 of them had fish! Think they were trying to get rid of the 3rd one! They circled over for about 5 minutes!

Saw a cool pair of mallards, and the osprey chick in the nest...they only have one this year...not sure if I got a pic of the chick or not! But did get to see it! Also saw some cormorants yesterday and today.

Oh and the hummers kept buzzing my brother outside, LOL

hedgie said...

Good grief....isolated showers/storms every day for the next 7. UGH! We don't need more rain!

Part of the reason that they probably decided to postpone is that after all the rain yesterday (4")..they were probably afraid to try to pull the pyrotechnic truck and fire truck into the field---might have sunk out of sight!!

hedgie said...

Paula, Lori's Mom is apparently going to need some open heart surgery. She'll know more soon.
Glad you had such a great weekend---more fun than work, I hope!!! Oh-oh---pillow and salad-----hope the pillow wasn't feather!!!

Margy, will post some pics this week of Nick! I can't believe how lucky I am, he is a really well behaved, gentle soul. Trying to teach him to play ball! Don't think anyone ever played with him much!

Hi, Everyone!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, AMERICA!

We have had a rather lazy day here, and it felt good! Just kind of sat around like two bumps on a log. The dog park closes for holidays, so no chance to take Emma there. It's just now dark here, but haven't heard any close fireworks--they're illegal in our city, so that's good. They usually do a big display at Anaheim Stadium and at Disneyland, but probably not quite dark enough yet.

Say, good to see Glo and BEagle here, also Bob Quinn and CarolAnne.

Welcome home, Lynne2! Hope you can get Steve's tooth taken care of tomorrow. He's on my prayer list!

Shirley, congratulations on your new laptop! bet you will soon be used to the different keyboard, and up to speed. Hope Luna's bath helped her.
She's on my prayer list too!

Sounds like a good time was had by all at Wanda and the Captain's, in spite of some rain!

I'm also praying for Lori and her mom. Please keep us posted!

Well, I'm going to go watch some of the celebrations on TV. Praying for everyone with ailments/infirmities, including all creatures. Making sure the porch light is on. Enabling both security systems. Sleep well, everyone, and I will talk to you tomorrow. God bless, and goodnight!
Love all of you! :o]

What a great evening we had at GG's! No fireworks...rained out, but, we moved the tables and chairs into the garage and stayed nice and dry and enjoyed some spirited conversations.
Always glad that Margy and Lynn can join us...2 special ladies:)
I guess everyone has headed to bed, so/ I'm headed there, too.

ANDY, that's just silly to close a dog park on holidays! WOOF! FloBear protests that, too! Thanks for the prayers for Mom.

DIANN, prayers for a good xray result and the shot you want that will help your pain! Can't say that I've ever prayed for a shot - OH YES, only once, was so sick I begged for compazine!
Kittens LeRoy & Bobby send their love and good wishes to you Diann!

Lori O. said...

Thanks so much to everyone for prayers for my Mom. I know Momster prayers are powerful and appreciate it so much. She is expecting a call from Pittsburgh today to tell her when they will do her heart surgery - this week or next week.

LYNN, you got some good toothache remedies there! Anyone ever considered LYNN & LYNNE'S Eaglet Momster's Remedy Book - For Humans and Pets! Together you two have us all covered!

SHIRLEY, frankly, I prefer that you let the cats walk on the keyboard. I had a cat Frankie who sent messages of her own to everyone I emailed.

Lori O. said...

PAULA, glad to have you home! I'm very happy for you and Nick! Did you get the osprey chick pic?

Ice Tea? No thanks, Diet Caffeine Free Pepsi, please, and I'm trying to cut down on that, and all the other fake sugars in my diet.

I hope everyone enjoyed the Capitol Fourth on TV last night. I went to bed too early to see it, but I know it's always a great show. KAY I know you said you were going to watch it.

JOSH GROBAN is just amazing. He came into the studio and sang 2 or 3 years ago. He's even more amazing with bad accoustics and no back up! And, a very nice, humble, normal guy.

Lori O. said...

WOW -look at that. Little LOLLY snuck in here and I didn't even know it.

Hello LOLLY! Are the fireworks bigger in Texas, too? :)

JUDYE, thanks for all the videos you post. I'm going to have to start a file of them so I can go back and watch them when I have time, instead of going back through all the posts and trying to find them. JUDY, is there one place you put all the video links you post? CRS gets the best of me most times! :)

Lori O. said...

HODA, don't worry about taking the pictures or video. Sure we're very excited about it and can't wait to see it, BUT it will all come together when it is supposed to. I don't wish you any stress over it...It's not an assignment, just some fun with friends. ♥♥♥

Hello Lori,

Having trouble getting back to sleep, so I checked in to see what is going on. I see that you are already up and on the go. I have always wondered about how those of you who get to wake everyone else up manage. Obviously, you get up an go to work while we are all sound asleep.

Yes, the fireworks show in DC was spectacular. So was the show from my neighborhood and nearby areas. Either lots of people have very illegal fireworks, or there are some public shows that we don't know about.

We did wonder about the huge explosion that went off on the street about three doors down. (street level) Something misfired and it was remarkable. I am glad we were no closer. We did not see anyone else around, so it must have come from somewhere else.

stronghunter said...

One of the great things about working where you do is the variety of people you get to meet.

The most memorable person I got to meet when I was working at the television station was Jesse Owens. He was certainly very nice.

I only worked there for a few months before I went back to teaching, but it was interesting, and always looked impressive on my resume. I was in promotion.

stronghunter said...

I'll see up later on this morning. I am going to go back upstairs and see if I can sleep now.

stronghunter said...

I'll see you, that is . . .

Lori O. said...

SHIRLEY, I'm so sorry I missed you. One of my few chances to have someone to chat with during my hours and I missed it. I didn't know you worked in TV! Media is very different than people suspect when you get to see it behind the scenes.

I hope you were able to fall asleep. Sweet dreams, Shirley, and love to all your little critters. ♥
