Morning eagle dudettes and dudes. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROBYN!!! Sissy, I agree about the lymes possibility---make sure they check his liver enzymes! I had the strange page view of the blog often yesterday---think Margy mentioned it, too, didn't she? Seems okay so far today. It has happened in the past! ROFLMBO about Megans' bank and clunker!! You mean the brakeless van doesn't qualify? Too bad! And hope Russ's ears aren't burning! We had a bunny at the beach a couple of years ago---but NO fox! Perseid meteor showers peaking next Tues. night/Weds. AM!! They started end of July. Hope you get a chance to see them!!
Over night I watched when one adult and Koo were at nest, other parent flew in with a nice morsel, and the first parent flew off. Wish I could have gotten a picture. Koo was begging, seemed to be getting some, then did some wingersizing.
Best Wishes for a Great Day for All.
Am headed to Berkeley Springs in a little while to take James to see a Magician perform at a little restaurant called "The Earth Dog Cafe."
Prayers for Healing, Skilled Health Care Providers for Tom.
Yay on the Perseids, Hedgie, thanks for the Alert. Waning Full Moon and Summer Haze might interfere a little. Moon and Jupiter will be close tonight, if the clouds clear for us to see it.
Remember last year when blogger had the maddening green screen and type?? Argh! That was truly awful It still happens once in a while after blogger cop rejcts a post!
Wanda, how long have you been taking Evista? Have they redone the bone density scan? You might ask about having it repeated. I'm sure it is like all other meds---works for some, not for others! Like I said, I was on it for 4 years....w/o ANY improvement.
Does Evista cause hot flashes? I took Tamoxifen for 5 years and the hot flashes were terrible. My gynecologist thought I might take Evista too, but thought I might ask the oncologist; he said no.
Don't know why, but sometimes I am totally astonished at the downright brazenness of kids these days....article in paper about 3 Brunswick, MD kids arrested for setting fire to the new artificial turf at the Middletown High School football field. ARGH! Remember when someone cut out pieces of the new turf at Shepherd University a few years ago....PROSECUTE TO THE FULLEST!
I'm not sure, Shirley----if so, it's probably artificial, but I never had any hotflashes from it. My onc never took me off of it----until he got the scan result and found it wasn't working and switched me over to the annual infusion of Reclast a year ago.
Just did a quick scan of the blog, and am glad to hear that the parent has fed the Finney chick with the broken leg. Poor thing has enough problems without being really hungry too. Hope they decide to help it soon!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ROBYN! HAVE A FANTASTIC DAY!
Prayers for Tom, Sissy, and Sharon, and for Tom's doctors!
Little Gimpy heron is still here. He showed up at my patio door late yesterday afternoon. When I ran errands, I went to the 99 cent store, and found some Chicken of the Sea sardines in water. Put some out for him, and he nibbled some. He's been pooping like a champ, so has to be eating something. When I got close to him, he threatened to bite me, but didn't. I was getting concerned for him when dusk came, but just before it got truly dark, he vanished. I looked for him this morning at first light, and found him under our big tree, at the other end of the yard. He seems to be able to move the upper part of his broken leg (the thigh) now. He sits very still during the day, so maybe it's beginning to heal. The lower part of that leg still dangles, though. I'll feed him more sardines when he decides where he's going to spend the day. One of his siblings was sitting on the back of one of our patio chairs, keeping him company, late yesterday afternoon. Didn't budge with both Hubby and I standing at the screen door about 4 feet away. Gimpy didn't move, either. Seems to save his energy for the truly important moves. If he continues to improve, I won't interfere except with food and water, but if he deteriorates enough that it looks like a no-win situation, I will call animal control and see if they would be willing to euthanize him. A broken leg takes a while to heal, and if he can function well enough, I'd like to give him a chance. But if his quality of life sucks, I'd rather do the right thing for him. Never have heard from the Rehab people. Read on the website I found yesterday that this species of heron is the most plentiful in the whole world, and their range spans five continents. Guess Rehab considers them low priority. You'd think they'd call to let me know that, though, if they're still around.
Saw the new little panda baby on the news this morning--what a cutie! Will have to make a pilgrimage to San Diego when he's older and they have him out for people to see.
Andrea, that was so sweet of you to get the sardines for the heron! He might decide to NEVER leave, even when he's healed!! Agree with your plan, and hope that leg continues to improve. Most plentiful of the species----and I had never heard of it beofre you told us----I must be living under a rock!
Lynn, if you're living under a rock, I must be there too, keeping you company! I'd never even seen one of these herons until they took over our trees decades ago. Glad you agree with my plan. Have to be careful, because I guess I could be in big trouble for harboring a wild bird. But he's only in the yard, and hasn't come in to watch TV quite yet.
Megan, you are too funny. Maybe we can all get together to qualify for an AARP bailout?
Can't watch the ospreys anymore.
I may have to disapper for a day or two. Frank's maternal aunt died late last night. Not unexpected. Nursing home for several years, dementia, failing health. Was on comfort care the past several days. So, may have to go to N.J. Don't know all the plans yet.
Andrea, you are going to end up with a pet heron. Good for you seeing to his needs for food and water. I have stopped watching Finny's nest. I can not stand to watch it! If I did, I would start dreaming about it! Ahhhh!!
Enjoying a quiet morning, but having a few connections problems. Could not get SD panda up! Will try again.
Guess I will get back to my walking/excercise today.
Andrea, we are all wishing you could come to our OPEN HOUSE. I know you are tied up this year with other things, but maybe next year. We are worth the trip, I GAURANTEE IT! lol
LOLLY, I was able to get San Diego Zoo one time, yesterday and now, not at all, nor can I get OUR NEST:(
Gosh, Lolly, I need to start walking again, too. Maybe Gimpy Heron can accompany me if (God willing) he improves enough to need rehab for the leg! BTW, I can't watch the Finney chick any more, either. I'll get so attached that if anything bad happens to it, I'll be a train wreck! This heron situation is bad enough, thanks.
Oh yeah, my other new neighbor, the one that bought my grandmother's house -- my dogs started barking about 1 a.m. and he and another feller were out in the street cussing each other. Lovely way to wake up.
Judie, so sorry to hear about Frank's aunt! Even though her passing was not unexpected, I'm sure it's still a heartache. I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers your way! If you have to go to NJ for a few days, you will be missed! Take care, and hang in there!
Wanda, I wish I could visit you back there, too! Not much of a chance now until I've graduated from school, though. Then I'll need a job in order to finance the trip. (Unless, of course, I can qualify for an AARP bailout!)
Sharon, I haven't seen Hidey, Lib or Belle in so long, I can hardly stand it! Maybe when they fix up the camera soon they'll yank the Jimson weed 'tree' so there will be room in the nest for them to visit. I am concerned that if that IS Jimson weed, it would be harmful to the birds if they nibbled on it.
You know what, ladies, if we call ourselves the 'Liberty Belles', our favorite imp, Hidey, will be insanely jealous because we left her out! You KNOW how she always wants to be the center of attention!
Judie, a beach-blog party sounds like fun--we could bird watch and people watch!
Good idea, Sharon; I'll start my wing flapping right now!
Actually, I think I'd better fly to the kitchen and try to find some breakfast! I lose all track of time when I'm talking to all of you! Must mean I'm having fun!
Liberty Belles. . . makes me think of southern ladies in pastel hoop skits.
Andrea--wish I could send you some sardines for the little fellow. Guess he likes them, even when they are not regurgitated.
Good that the eagles have the sense not to eat poisonous plants. Noticed that it was blooming again this morning--though that was only supposed to happen in the evening, but it's cloudy and gloomy--maybe that makes a difference.
Hi Everyone! First I must compliment Wanda on her dinner that she wrot about late last night!!LOL Back from the dentist---not 1/2 as bad as I anticipated. The bicuspid that split had a root canal in '07--I don't remember that, so no tooth pain, only gum. He didn't pull it all, but removed cracked chunk--at least 2/3 of tooth, put in pins and post & built missing area up w/layers.(Just like Frank's car body shop!!!!) So it's fragile for now, but not gone. You're supposed to get caps as they get brittle & fracture. DUH, no one followed up on that.Maybe could have cap for awhile on it, but have to go see specialist if I'm eligible for transplant. Look out Bank of Loretta!
Judie, so sorry to hear about Franks' aunt. Even when expected, it's still a difficult time. Hugs to you both. If you go to NJ, please drive safely. We'll be here when you get back.
Sissy, where would you take Tom next? To Charlottesville? Did they do liver enzymes?
Well, Lynn, me and Sher talked about Charlottesville and after her ordeal up there, I am no so inclined to go there. Probably Roanoke or Charleston. They have checked his blood work, everything looks good from that standpoint. He is waiting now for the HIDA scan, had to take a bunch of laxatives first because of the contrast from the CT the other night.
The lady at Georgetown Law was interested in Dana's response from Sierra Club and HS statement, but haven't heard any response from Fay Fiore at the LA Times, who started this whole thing!
Last night, AM Finland time, the whole family was in the nest, then 2 sisters left & adult fed Koo lots of fish.I saw a scary sight there earlier---shadow of a BIG wing at top & Koo had her mouth open in horror!Got pic of that-sent to Suz.Everything was OK. Looks like all the white birds might be sea gulls.
Sissy, if you don't get the proper answers at that Hosp, tell them you'll sic your Panda on them!☺ Seriously, hope tthey can help Tom soon or 2nd opinion!I learned years ago in Support Group, you have to be your own advocate.
Both are about 1-1/2 hours, Charleston north and Roanoke south. Thelma lives close to Roanoke but we have alot of friends in Charleston (and Andrew is there now!!). I will leave that up to Tom. Both have good hospitals.
Oh, Lowreeda----my mouth is thumping for you---argh! Sounds terrible. How long will all of this take??? Maybe YOUR bank could get bailout money (Megan's couldn't!). Did they give you anything for pain?
Way cool. Just typed on someone from Holland who sailed his sailboat to New Bern, North Carolina! Now that would be an adventure for sure. Hit his head on a boat hatch and had to get stitches!!
All of the talk about Vit D yesterday...heard on a news report about children and teens lacking same, and they said that 10 mins. in the sun w/o sunscreen 3x a week is all it takes for natural absorption. Temp perfect for it today...but can't seem to get 10 mins. of sunshine!
Ain't no sunshine in southern WV for sure. They had a thing on the news the other night about the pools in the area losing so much money because the weather has been so cool. We got robbed right out of our summer!! And I was looking so forward to it!!!!

The whole family at Finland, and two hooded crows and boat at Finland.
Good Morning Everyone.

Good morning everybody!
Saw some little black bird, grackles probably, practicing their flocking and flying routines last evening :(
Wait a minute, have I already said that?
See all those flocking and flying birds at Finney too....
lol....I think so, Sharon, thanks for the Pat Monahan site
Morning eagle dudettes and dudes.

Okay, one more.
Piles of flying birds at Finney and that Hooded Crow is Deluxe at Finland Water.

Thanks for answering my questions, Helen. It is all very interesting.
I need to go shower and take care of some things. Suzi is expecting me by 3:30.
I have only had the new post thing once today.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
I just crawled out from under a rock and I'd like to watch Andrea's TV.
ROFLMBO, Andrea...you are so funny!

Gracious, if any of you gals can make it all the way out here to SoCal, you are most welcome indeed to watch my TV with me!

Not only are WE worth the trip but Liberty and Belle definitely are. Love those birds! Speaking of birds, anybody seen an eagle lately?
Oh yeah, my other new neighbor, the one that bought my grandmother's house -- my dogs started barking about 1 a.m. and he and another feller were out in the street cussing each other. Lovely way to wake up.
Ah, Sharon, Lib and Belle, they are included in the WE:)But, of course!
You know, instead of calling ourselves the Momsters, we could be THE LIBERTY BELLES;)
Judie, so sorry to hear about Frank's aunt! Even though her passing was not unexpected, I'm sure it's still a heartache. I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers your way! If you have to go to NJ for a few days, you will be missed!

Very good, Wanda. The Liberty Belles!!!!!
Thank you, Andrea.
Thinking about watching t.v. with you, maybe we could all come visit and have a beach-blog party.
Procrastinating: trying to watch Bai Yun but, like others, trouble with connecting; likely so much competition from a gazillion other voyeurs.
Well, must try to do something productive.
Judie
Nope! We're Momsters! Will always be Momsters! Liberty Belles sounds like a dance troupe!lol
Time for me to eat breakfast and then excercise.
BBL
Sharon, I haven't seen Hidey, Lib or Belle in so long, I can hardly stand it! Maybe when they fix up the camera soon they'll yank the Jimson weed 'tree' so there will be room in the nest for them to visit.

We could do a wingersizing dance!
Our birds are too smart to nibble on poisonous weeds!
You know what, ladies, if we call ourselves the 'Liberty Belles', our favorite imp, Hidey, will be insanely jealous because we left her out! You KNOW how she always wants to be the center of attention!

I had Starbucks Sumatra this morning!
Morning, eagle peoples!
Bald Eagle sharing brunch
Ah yes, my preview box is different too...cool!
Great story Paula!!
Still no word on Tom. I told them this morning that we want a referral out of here if this test doesn't show anything!!
What a contrast - eagle and turkey vultures! EWWIIEEE! :)
Sissy, hope today is a good day.
Judie, so sorry about Frank's aunt.

The eagle does look out of place with the turkey vultures, but they have to eat too.
