Thank you Ceil and Steve.

Andy doesn't sound good to me.

ceil said...

Good grief. Tell everyone about the new thread and then I stay over on the old one.
Hi Anne Marie.

Mema Jo said...

I sure hope everyone will realize that the previous thread has lots of good news on it - read back if you weren't here this afternoon - THANKS.

Thank you Steve for the new thread and Ceil for the heads-up.

Reminder: KOO IS AT THE ZOO

Mema Jo said...

I was certainly thinking about you at Market today, Megan. Was perfect weather to be over there I just didn't have any traveling companion!

Mema Jo said...

Megan - does the market run up into Dec when you bring in the Wreaths?
What month(s) are you not there?

Mits said...

thanks for the call over Ceil:)

Mits said...

Andrea, sounds like a stressful job to me, is it like a bill collector.

Judie said...

Back for a visit. This was a BLT night. Yummy!

Andy, I would be very careful. I don't think I would take a chance. Something less risky, and more local, is just around the corner! You can also check U.S. BBB and ask for corporate prospectus, financial reports, etc. Hope the weather is cooler and fires are put out quickly.

I am happy Koo was found and rescued but sad to anticipate the outcome. At least it will be more humane.

I love Poe's stories -- and really don't care who he married. Have a very old bound volume. Would love to have the mystery surrounding the midnight visitor to his grave solved.

Megan, so happy you had a good market day!

Forgot what else I read on the other thread but hope everyone had a nice dinner, happy Shirley found her vacuum (with guys is a congenital defect), hope Laurel likes the new patio clock. Hi Ceil, Jo, Lynn, Anne-Marie, all others I missed. Hope everyone is having a nice evening.

Going to put my painful feet up for a few. Later.

Judie

Mema Jo said...

Bill Collector would not be up my alley. I guess I'm not impressed that it isn't based in the USA. At home would be ideal & I hope you find that kind of opportunity Andrea.

I sure hope the fire burns out soon!

Hi Anne Marie... I am happy to hear you are starting to feel a bit better.

stronghunter said...

I was thinking along the same lines as Mits and Ceil, Andy. But it depends on your needs, too. I would be looking in the medical field, even a job as a receptionist in a doctor's office or hospital would put you in the right place to network.

Judie said...

Just a quick check on Diego. Bai Yun gone again. Mits, what does she do when she leaves? Eat, exercise, pray for a babysitter?

Judie

Mema Jo said...

Ok, so who will meet me on Jan 19 at Poe's grave in Baltimore to witness the 'Poe Toaster' bringing the 3 roses and bottle of cognac? It has always intrigued me!

magpie said...

Hallelujah Hawaii !
New thread, thanks Steve, and for Ceil and Mema Jo hollering!

magpie said...

I like cognac, Mema Jo ...I might be game for that !

magpie said...

I agree, very much informative and interesting information on the last thread....what a development for Koo....will be very interesting to see how all this works out. Thank God she has been rescued and appears to be in a wonderful place. Love that link from Shirley, showing how the place looks in Summer, Winter and Christmas time! And so grateful to our NatureNut for getting the information to us, and staying with this saga ! Thank You !

Wonderful to hear from Anne-Marie, especially that 1) she is feeling better and 2) that her grandson is with her! ☺

Judie said...

Hey Jo, that would be a great adventure.

Just never been able to figure out why, with so many people watching and spying over so many, many years, the visitor has never been seen much less apprehended. It seems I remember something about the original visitor could no longer be alive so someone has stepped into the mystery role.

Maybe we could get Shirley to join us -- she probably knows tons of information.

Judie

magpie said...

Andrea
I am late getting on with this, but I am so very sorry about what happened with Jake, and hope your sister and the family are doing okay.

I tend to agree with the others, not so sure I would want to tackle the bill-colllecting job...

Judie said...

NEST ALERT. EAGLE IN NEST.

magpie said...

Megan -
I am sorry I did not make it to Market! I am knee-deep in this project for brother Fred's 70th Birthday project, have pictures and documents, stickers and cards all over the place, playing Beat the Clock....but I will surely make it in the next few weeks to come! Must have some Megan Posies! I would have loved to hear Chelsea, and the Banjo! ♪ ♫

Judie said...

Poof

magpie said...

I'll say Poof, I missed it altogether, but, maybe more...
Good for Judie! It couldn't happen to a nicer more deserving gal today !

Mema Jo said...

Diego has the little hind leg digging in! He'll be crawling soon if he keeps that up! lol

Mits said...

Judie, Bai steps out to eat, drink and stretch her legs...

Mema Jo said...

WOW! Judie that visit was for your eyes only! I was looking at Panda.

Judie - it was the Adult eagle - right?

magpie said...

Mits

I had to laugh, seeing where you heard "Woof" on your computer and wondered if I was around. Right about that time I was hitting the snooze button !

I have to tell you all, that during my nap I had what I would call a nightmare: Dreamt that there was an "alien" blogger on, who kept changing their moniker, and who was saying all kinds of very unkind things to us and about us!
This is what really probably caused me to say Woof !

hedgie said...

Andy, maybe you could ask Chrissy if she knows anything about the company? Think you need more specifics before making a decision! And if cash payments mean "in person" i would certainly arrange to meet them someplace....like at the police station or a bank!!!!

Shuttle on Final Path to Station
Sun, 30 Aug 2009 09:34:30 PM UTC-0100

Space shuttle Discovery began rendezvous operations at 3:29 p.m. EDT and has performed a series of minor maneuvers to close the gap with the International Space Station.

At 6:27 p.m., eight miles away from the station, Discovery used its left orbital maneuvering system engine for an 11-second Terminal Initiation burn, placing the shuttle on the final path for docking at 9:04 p.m. About an hour before docking, while 600 feet directly under the station, Commander Rick Sturckow will guide Discovery through a nine-minute back flip to enable station crew members Gennady Padalka and Mike Barratt to photograph the shuttle heat shield.

wvgal_dana said...

Andrea I wouldn't mess with it especially since it isn't here in USA. It is hard enough doing "bill collection" even in ones own town let lone across the pond.

Something special will come your way.

Good Evening my friends. I am looking for LYNN. I only have a few minutes and then BIG BROTHERS COMES ON. Lynn...I tried to email you the OFFENSIVE video that was on my facebook and it didn't work. It just showed up again on my FB page. If you want to see it...go there as soon as you can. I will be deleting it again. I think it needs to be seen by a lot of agressive drivers, but apparently it offended some FB people:(

JO, you know I will be more than happy to make any arrangements necessary with Clarion for Open House!

Mits said...

interesting shots on NASA TV now

floralgirl said...

Market in Sheptown runs until the end of December, the last Sunday before Christmas. I will disapear at some point and then magically reappear the weekend after Thanksgiving with evergreen wreaths. I don't know yet when I'll be thru with flowers, a lot of that decision lies with mother nature...

magpie said...

Hi Wanda...

Hedgie have you noticed the Billboard for The Rumsey Tavern in the same spot, above Christian Caine's - where the Charlie Daniel's billboard was ?

magpie said...

Like your new avater, Megan !

magpie said...

Thanks for the info, Mits - going to head over there now, but I was going to try to crawl back in for another nap before I go to work at midnight.

magpie said...

Sure hope they are pleased with the photos of the thermal heat shields.

magpie said...

I was pretty tempted to drive to Baltimore for Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and asparagus!

Mits said...

they took about 90 seconds worth of pics of heat shield

Hi, gang,
Thanks for the valuable input about the job offer. I don't think I'm going to go with it. Sounds like too much stress, and I don't like, either, that they're out of country.
Watched a bit of the local news, and boy, are we in for it! The biggest L.A. area fire (which, thank God, is not near me at all), the 'Station Fire', has burned for 5 days and destroyed 35,000 acres so far. It's now headed for Acton, CA, and the Antelope Valley. They're announcing mandatory evacuations for an additional 6,500 homeowners. It's the biggest fire in that particular area in 40 years; the communities either burned so far or threatened are Pasadena, Altadena, Glendale, La Canada, La Crescenta, and Acton. About 12,000 homes are being threatened, and so far 5 civilians have been injured--because they wouldn't evacuate when told to do so. This fire is almost out of control--only 5% contained. They don't expect full containment until Sept. 8th! The winds are about 8 mph right now, but low winds make it hard for the planes to see where to drop fire retardant! The sky looks horrible in that direction. Good thing the wind is blowing the smoke away from us, and to the north.

just gorgeous views of shuttle...

wvgal_dana said...

Wanda how does the video get on your facebook page? Do you send it to others on their facebook page?

magpie said...

Agree, Mits....surreal....

Mits said...

yeah, hard to believe this is live:)

Costume Lady said...

DANA...the video was put on my page by my "Maybe, Italian cousin". I don't know how to do anything with it but delete it. Can't move it anywhere!?

Mits said...

what was it about, Wanda, I don't do FB?

wvgal_dana said...

Wanda can you delete it??? Oh my I just opened my fb page and Wanda your name is there and under it is the video??????

stronghunter said...

Trying to keep up with the shuttle and keep hearing interesting sounds at the nest. Clunking around and a little squeak awhile ago.

Mema Jo said...

Wanda I think you can HIDE it.

It is yuck!

Judie said...

Thanks, Mits. Thought she might be searching Yellow Pages for a wet nurse/baby sitter/nanny.

Ah, sheesh Margy, ya gotta stop getting into Lolly's G&Ts. Alien bloggers! Ah ha, maybe that's the answer -- an alien blogger is the visitor to Poe's grave.

Jo, yes, I think it was Liberty. Still hear tap dancing on mic.

wvgal_dana said...

This is a video about automobile accidents and pedestrians being hit by automobiles. IT IS VERY VERY GRAPHIC !!!!! I can understand why some would not want to see this video. Some may not be bothered by it but I'm very sure some would definitely be sickened by it.

Mema Jo said...

Don't hide it - that only means I can't see any of your comments on wall-to-wall. I wasn't fast enough
to undo it! Boo Hoo.........

magpie said...

Oh, the white shirts and ties and that confident voice...this is great!

Mema Jo said...

I am so fascinated with the NASA TV

I just never in all my years thought that I would be able to witness all this!

stronghunter said...

I will throw a Poe theory you way, folks . . . there is one theory that Poe died of rabies. Ever hear that one?

Mits said...

I think I have heard that Shirley

Ms Bookworm said...

Oh, Margy,
I love meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and especially asparagus!! Wish I lived closer.
Well, it's dinnertime here, so gotta ruh for a bit. Will try to come back later. TTFN!

floralgirl said...

Dana, at the top of the page where it says 'what's on your mind', you can write comments or underneath the comments box you can attach videos or pictures or links. If you see a video online like on you tube, there is a spot there where it says share, and you can click on the f for facebook and it will let you post it on your page. Same with many news stories, you can share them on your facebook page.

stronghunter said...

It was in my 9th textbook, along with several other articles. I thought it was very interesting.

Mits said...

you all might want to use the full screen for the docking sequence:)

stronghunter said...

We had meatloaf, green beans, and potatoes tonight. Will mowed the grass and I figured he was hungry. He likes meatloaf.

Mits said...

hubby is always happy when I make meatloaf:)

stronghunter said...

I wonder if Will is going to be upset if I buy a riding mower when he moves out? Maybe I should get it before then.

Mits said...

nah, Shirley, wait till he moves out:)

stronghunter said...

Only problem is getting a riding mower and two cars into the garage. I suppose it can be done, just need to get some other stuff out of there.

stronghunter said...

He is talking about moving into a 6-bedroom house with five other people. There would be a dog (the Jack Russell), a psycho cat and a turtle. I wonder . . .

Mits said...

how old is here, Shirley?

stronghunter said...

Plenty old enough to be on his own--29.

Mits said...

oh yeah, time to go:)

Mema Jo said...

Thanks for the Market info Megan.
Shirley - I had not heard the rabies theory on Poe's death.
Wanda - if you already deleted the video - why does it stay on FB off to the right side under highlights?

stronghunter said...

He shared an apartment in Northern Va with his brother for awhile.

floralgirl said...

Ew... that video is too violent for me, didn't make it very far, I ain't watching it.

Judie said...

Oh Lordy, Shirley. Stop and think -- a riding mower lost in your basement! Wait till Will moves out, definitely.

Think I may have a vague memory of story of Poe dying of rabies but not sure. Do remember the story he died intoxicated and found on side of a street in the city -- he had gone "mad".

Costume Lady said...

I am waiting onLynn to see the video before I delete it again. As I said before, I don't know how to email it to her. I tried to email it from Romolo Concovia (MY COUSIN?) and it appeared on my fb again???

floralgirl said...

Good grief, I must be tired, I read Shirley's post as there will be a dog, a psycho, a cat and a turtle...

hedgie said...

Megan...any word on the street today about Mason? No update on Caring Bridge since mid-month.

floralgirl said...

Things are going well for them, I talked to his godmother last weekend, I think. They are just getting into a routine, and he gets lots of visitors and stimulation. I think being at home and surrounded by family and friends is the best thing for him right now.

stronghunter said...

Will said the cat is a crazy little kitten, but he does not think it will get along with the dog. However, it is a big house.

hedgie said...

Okay, Wanda, watched video. Don't understand what was objectionable....especially in view of the recent PSA released in England!! Think it should be shown in every high school class!

Costume Lady said...

Lynn...did you look at the video? You were asking about it and it has mysteriously appeared again. I am about to delete it again.

stronghunter said...

I have to get ready for bed. Five-thirty comes early.

Costume Lady said...

AMEN! Lynn, that is exactly what I thought. Make those kids watch it and maybe they will think twice before showing off or not pay attention. I'm going to show it to Dustin for sure! It does have a sensible ending, if you noticed.

Costume Lady said...

Nite, Shirley. Hope you have a good week.

hedgie said...

Yep, Margy, the Rumsey ad has been up there for quite a while.
Andrea, how close to Highland is the fire??

paula eagleholic said...

Evening, all.

Got home at a decent hour, got the dogs fed and found some leftover pizza in the frig for dinner. Working on laundry now. All caught up on the blogs. Nice to see that Lib and Belle visited several times.

Sounds like everyone had a fairly good weekend!

Definitely making progress down at Moms...but will be a couple of weeks yet before we can put it on the market. We figured out the 2 floors we are painting...the square footage of the house excluding the basement is almost 2300 square feet...we are painting over 2x that amount...

paula eagleholic said...

Chatty tonight...have to catch up again!

magpie said...

Welcome Home Paula!
Bet your pups were all over you!

stronghunter said...

Good night and God bless!

See you tomorrow.

magpie said...

Oh, a heartmate between Discovery and ISS - wonder what that means, sounds nice ♥
From the South Pacific to Brazil to the Ukraine in 30 minutes...totally awesome !

magpie said...

You would think they are just about standing still.

paula eagleholic said...

Oh Margy, I have been taking them with me every weekend. Nugz is full of paint! They were so tired tonight, they both fell asleep in the back seat sitting up!

wvgal_dana said...

If my daughter was still in High School. I would want to have a slip sent home that I would have to sign to see or not to see; "NOT SEE"...JMO

magpie said...

Oh, Cool, Paula...sounds like they are "helping with the painting! "

We always miss you on the week-ends!

paula eagleholic said...

Nugz has paint on hime because he follows me around the house and lays in the room I am painting. Boo has paint on his head...don't know how that got there.

The 6 year old girl across the street said "Your dog has bird poop on his head!" We about died laughing!

paula eagleholic said...

Aw, thanks Margy :)

I miss ya'll too!

I'll be glad when everything is done and we can all have our weekends back!

wvgal_dana said...

Oh Paula that is so funny what the little girl said lol lol lol

hedgie said...

Have you seen the British one, Wanda?
It's about texting...but so was some of the one you had.
Have heard the rabies connection about Poe, along w/ syph, TB, and who knows what else. It was probably cirrhosis of the liver that got him!
Thanks for that info, Megan.

magpie said...

Ninja Turtle Glo Sword is appearing...at the nest....

paula eagleholic said...

I saw that PSA on texting... graphic as well, but certainly gets the point across. I haven't seen the one on Wanda's page...this computer doesn't do videos very well, or facebook.

magpie said...

I saw the British one, Lynn..the little car into the tractor trailer?

Very grahic! Was sent to me by a FF at the VA Fire Department....
never rolled up on anything qutie like that in my years running calls..

magpie said...

So it is daylight in Afghanistan I suppose...ref the Discovery and ISS

Judie said...

Yikes! The Ninja Turtle Glo Sword is back waving around and making noises.

Wanda, AND a lost vacuum concealed in the riding mower!

Welcome home, Paula. Glad progress is being made and the pups are happily decorated in the latest colors.

Goodnight Shirley. Have a great day tomorrow with the kidlets.

magpie said...

Paula!
Are you taking pictures?

Would especially like seeing NUGZ !

Costume Lady said...

I can't delete the darn thing now, or Hide it either!
No, Lynn, I haven't seen that one.

When Karla was 14 or 15, we came upon a car accident and made her look at what can happen if you aren't a careful driver....she looked inside the car and it was one of her friends:( The friend was crying for her Mother. I think she had a broken leg. Karla says she has never forgotten that. I hope it helped her in some way.

magpie said...

So we know the ISS will be over the Wild and Wonderful US in the morning !

floralgirl said...

I'm so confused, beacuse I have the sound down, and I'm going between about 4 screens, are the shuttle and ISS connected now?

Mema Jo said...

That view from the shuttle is
AWESOME !!

magpie said...

Yes, Megan...docking is complete, they won't open up the hatches for another hour or so.....or so.....that will be mentioned here again shortly.....

hedgie said...

Wanda....who said the video was offensive and who made you remove it before, or did I misunderstand???

Mema Jo said...

Looks like creamy icing on a cake down there!

floralgirl said...

Got it, thank you.

magpie said...

Oh Gosh Mema Jo, don't get us started on food talk ! ☺ ♥
But, you are so right.....! Wish I had gotten the cheesecake I was looking at at the grocery store earlier today ☺

I am caught up on this page, need to read the last one yet.

It was a very sad day at the tower. We had an Osprey get hit by a car, two very badly broken legs. It was little A36. Janie, Roger and I watched it try to land on the tower three times and knew something was wrong. She ended up in the water, so Janie and I took off in the boat and got her. She is comfortable for now and will go to the vet in the AM for x-rays, but Janie thinks they will be too bad to heal correctly.

paula eagleholic said...

Aw, poor osprey.

floralgirl said...

That's sad Deb.
Off to bed- nite all.

Mits said...

so sorry, Deb:(

Mits said...

off to watch HGTV....good night all, prayers being said for all in need:)

deb said...

Don and Roger made a sling for it out of a mesh and nylon carry bag. They made a slit for its head and feet. Then they took the handles and made it so the bird can hang safely in the sling tonight.

I was doing okay until Janie teared up, that did me in, too. In my head I know that all of our birds are not still flying free, but the reality right in front of you is not fun.

wvgal_dana said...

:( so sorry for you Deb for Roger, Don and Janie too...poor Osprey

Loretta I was thinking with all your work with Osprey. This year and last year Paula and some others getting to work with osprey's. Deb getting to work with them. This has brought us more and more information on osprey and their chicks. Maybe more interest is beginning to take place in their health, how they live and how to help them with injuries.

I think it's about 50 miles from there.
Deb, SO sorry about the osprey hit by a car. Hope and pray that it can be helped. If not, at least it won't be suffering.
My SIL called this evening, and she sounds like she's doing better. Thank you all for your prayers for her and BIL.
Got two more questionable sounding replies to resumes. Will explain them tomorrow.
Margy, praying for your BIL and your sister. Also for you!
Am getting pretty tired, and think I'm going to call it a night. Prayers for all. Sleep tight, and I'll talk to you tomorrow--hopefully early enough to see the eagles at the nest! The motion detector porchlight is ready to go, the night light is on, and the eye scanner lock is enabled. G'night!

Nwes : Ranua Zoo has been contacted this morning. Koo is fine! At first it was very scared and tired, it has had lack of food.. Today Koo has accepted fish to eat! Koo is in good hands, and it will get all possible care. They have exprience there, they have had one Osprey earlier, it got medical help, recovered and was returned to nature!more later

Good morning eagle, panda, and various other wildlife-loving friends!! I think there is an eagle in our nest this morning although it is under the smudge and hard to tell in the dark.

That is great news about Koo. Now we know she will be taken care of for sure.

Monday morning came way too early for me!!

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Okay, I take that back. I don't think that is an eagle after all. Whatever it is hasn't moved in an hour, just a thing I reckon.
