Margy & Sharon, forgive me for being a dummy, but how do you get the still cam? I've always just watched the Live Cam, but would like to know how to get to the other one.
yes neighbors, upstairs this time, and they are owners, went in after midnight, and heard nothing for the rest of the night, thank God...so got a good nights' sleep:)
I'm going to get on my soapbox for a minute. I can't believe that the Scottish courts are releasing the Lybian Lockerbie/Pan Am bomber on compassionate grounds because he's dying of cancer. What kind of compassion did the 271 people who died get from him??? WRONG decision.
even though Bill is out hundreds of miles from us, we will probably still feel some effects from the storm...high seas, dangerous rip currents, beach erosion and coastal flooding...
...sigh...friends have a 9 year old with them on their vacation...figure it will be educational at the very least...hard not to enjoy SOMETHING at the beach
Okay, got the cards out, now pen to paper and stamps and stickers to envelopes.
By the way, looks like Koo has breakfast. Didn't see whether she came back to the nest with it, or if someone made a food drop. Somehow I missed it. Think Margy said Koo had taken off, though.
it will be interesting Margy, but doubt if he will be able to go in the water, but who knows, it could stay much farther out and have limited impact...but always good to be safe rather than sorry
Grannyblt so glad you have a faster speed now, so you can enjoy more cams. I love that PA cam with the sound. Sorry Margy you don't get sound there. I just settled back in the rocking chair, listening to all the creatures playing around and the wind blowing, with leaves falling.
I don't know Andrea because earlier this AM. I saw Koo with a fish and I was surprised. Didn't see parent bring it in but parent took it from Koo, then Koo flew out of nest.
First let me again say how excited I am to be an official eaglet momster and how much I appreciate being welcomed into the nest.
Koo still eating.
Megan, thinking of you and hoping the troubles are resolved quickly.
Diann, a prayer for your frined George. I'm sorry about the stubbed toe but so glad you had an extra bulb for the night light.
Lolly, never thought about an Armadillo in the yard but, of course, never lived in TX. We don't seem to have Armadillo critters in VA.
Hey Norma, think about it -- if Jim gets a good looking nurse and if he's as smart as I think he is, he'll stay a litte "under the weather" for quite a while.
Gloria and Dexter - have a lovely day at the marina but watch the sun and heat!
Okay, I'm going to attempt to get to a mall today. Hate to make the attempt these days because walking is so painful. But, need a new suit blouse for school.
Hey, Judie, you were already considered a Momster!! But good that now you will get interesting emails from many others. I agree about going to a mall.......I so much prefer strip shopping centers...much less walking, parking right in front, etc.!
Good morning! Have just a sec. Joseph want to play Stay Alive. So glad we saved all the games from when our kids were little!
Only two armadillo holes in the lawn this morning, but a dozen or so daffodil bulbs dug up. He digs the same one up every night. I have put some metal spikes in the ground, maybe that will keep him out.
I am looking forward to getting on earlier...will try next week! Need to be on when our Norma is on!!
Good Morning All! I'm a little late getting starting this morning.. early phone calls and then dozed off! I have my regularly scheduled CT this early afternoon then a check up next week. I hope I continued to feel as well as I have recently. Must be living right or just hanging out with the right group of friends!!! I really think that is it. I want to read back on old thread.
Thanks for the Still Cam up/running. Would love to see our eagle family again! soon! anytime!
BTW, saw the most interesting thing last evening--gotta share it. Just as the sun was getting low in the sky, almost all of the 40 or 50 birds eating seeds in our back yard suddenly flew off and didn't come back. One or two were still there, but that was it. It got REALLY quiet out there, too. Went closer to the patio window for a good look around, just as one of our resident Goshawks flew in and landed on the far edge of our patio cover. There was still one bird out there (only one)--a female house finch. She was perched on one of the seed feeders, and had been eating up until that moment. When she saw the hawk, she froze, obviously scared silly. The hawk walked across the patio roof edge, going directly over the finch in the process, and when he got to the other side of the patio roof, he took off and flew to a wire half a backyard away. The finch saw him go, but still didn't move even a teeny bit. After a couple of minutes, the Goshawk flew over our house to the big tree in our front yard, where their nest is. The finch STILL hadn't moved at all, and she stayed frozen in place (I don't think she even blinked!) for another 15 minutes! I stayed there watching her, because I wanted to be sure she was OK. She finally took off and went around the side of the house to the front. We have 3 finch nests out front, under the eaves. I have never been more fascinated in my life! Apparently that finch knew that if she moved a single feather the hawk would see her. Amazing.
Sure, Sharon! No problem. Not such a long name to type, either.
Jim, I didn't see whether the fish was dropped off, or whether Koo brought it. Check out Magpie's 10:00am and 10:20am postings. I've been going back and forth, and have been away at just the wrong time. Guess I need 2 computers! Wish it were doable.
By the way, Jim, sorry you're a bit under the weather. If you have a chest cold, be sure to drink lots of HOT liquids. Chicken soup really does work, too. Take lots of naps! Hope you're feeling better real soon! Prayers being said for healing.
Golly, I just realized what time it is here! I need to stop by the school this morning and buy the books I need and get an accurate print-out of my class schedule. Guess I'd better get going. Will be back ASAP. :o]
Currently At 12:12PM[ More ] 89°F RealFeel® 100°F Winds: SSW at 10mph Mostly Sunny Humidity: 64% Dew Point: 76° F Pressure: 30.00 in Visibility: 10 Miles
Boy oh boy, Deb, I would LOVE your weather! Wanna trade? There's a heavy marine layer right now, that should burn off later; current temp is 68, with 82 expected high.
Well, I'd really better get this show on the road and go buy my school books. Hopefully won't take too long. BBL.
Norma, if you are back yet.....sorry I don't understand your email problems....have never taken your name off my email list...today I get a message that AOL still has my email of today in your queue, but that it is full!!!! Is there anything that any of us can do to help you with accessing your mail????
Thanks, Deb....brief but still cool!!! Know Norma hasn't been able to access, but if her email is through her server, it has to be there!!! And this is the first time I've gotten any kind of return about it. Just think she must be missing a setting or something!! A call to their help desk might fix it---if she can someone who speaks real English!
Hi, Megan, Hate to say hello and run, but gotta go buy some school books. Can't say it often enough--how much I like your new avatar! Happy to see you here this morning/afternoon! Hope your day's a good one! BBIALW.... :o]
The original link was in German, not Finnish about Koo's osprey nest in tall pine tree in Finland.(surprise, surprise) It was posted by ljames on Bird Cam Forum. I put it thru Google for English translation. Finney Osprey Nest
I'm sorry, Megan. Wish there was something I could do to help. I did remind Bill again about tile jobs, but they seem to be jsut doing school carpets now---not much other business happening.
Jim, even tho' there was tragedy and much fear, it sounds like everything is going to turn out well. Sad that the parents won't be able to complete the upbringing of their offspring, but excellent that the chicks were successfully rescued, and injuries appear to be quite fixable. Release from the hatchbox in the not too distant future plan sounds like a good one!! Thanks for alerting us!
I'm confused, Loretta.....only a couple of recent date entries....don't know what they were talking about!!! Nothing understandable pertaining to our deformed Koo that I could make out! The translations sure aren't too good, are they?
Yes, Lynn, it starts out mostly about the camera & general osprey info on the island, but further down is some interesting stuff about migrations and previous osprey trips.I thought that pic was neat, I always thought nest was on some kind of metal tower.
Hmmmmm....learn something new everyday...a little history blurb in our local newspaper just taught me that an area man who was one of our customers when we (ex) did Sunday delivery of The Washington Post back in the 80's and 90's, named Paul Ignatius, was a former president of that publication AS WELL AS former Secy of the Navy (1967-'69). In '69 he bought a farm in this area, which is where he was living at the time of his death. Wonder why we never heard that story before?!
You gals must have a larger view of the pics than I have.....don't see any water!!! Do love the pic of the nest tree! Guessing that a storm snapped off the top, thus making an ideal location for the birds. I' too' had thought that it was a man-made nesting platform!
You don't usually make the news unless you die or do something criminal!
OK - CT appointment only took an hour or less... Waiting for the film took the longest!
Headed over to Post office - Sometimes faster if Germany has things shipped to me and then I ship to Germany. Disney Halloween outfit just came for Samantha to be Belle! Izzy is going to be a Puffy Pumpkin. And Izzy is at the Scared to death age concerning masks! Told Christine Good Luck - she didn't even like Mom in her Eeyore outfit or Dad in his Redskins mask! Don't blame her about the Skins mask! lol but Eeyore! No way!
Thanks guys:) It is so humid out there today. Lynn, big job he's been hoping for came thru today, so he'll have work for at least a week or so. Just in the nick of time, I might add. BBL- Hope I don't make the news..lol...
Megan is hot & cranky??! We had 2 BIG thunderstorms yesterday at 12N & 4PM. I was trying to drive in the first one---DUH. But today ALL my deck flowers in pots were wilted!!!! BOO Just had to water everything. Will attempt to go to store in hot & cranky car!!
That IS good news, Megan! A week is better than 'nuthin'----and if it comes when needed the most, then the Lord has provided. Will continue to pray that there's another one right aorund the corner. If you make the news, does that mean we need to come bail you out???? Just holler! We'll be there!
Hi, everyone, I made it back from school. Turns out I don't have to take another Keyboard class! Apparently I passed the speed test for Keyboard IV! Will keep practicing, though, to see how fast I can get. This blog is perfect practice! Yay! A perfect excuse for being here!!! Found out they don't have the shipment of books yet for my Pharmacology class. Hopefully they'll get it by next week. Got my Anatomy & Physiology book. I'll have Pharmacology on Wed. evenings, and Anatomy/Phys. on Friday evenings. Sounds like a plan! Megan, I don't blame you for being cranky! I get really grumpy when it's hot, but ESPECIALLY when it's humid, too. Yuck. At least you don't have MY problem for the day, though. I'm waiting for the exterminator to show up and get some obviously DEAD critter out of my attic. I think it's probably a roof rat, but who knows. Could be anything from a mouse to a raccoon! All I know is that it isn't smelling like a rose. Hope they get here soon, or we'll have to go OUT to dinner, and we're trying to cool the spending this week. If we gotta, hope we have some good fast food coupons!
A downpour happened just as I was ready to walk out of the Post Office. Headed on over to son's for a short visit with him/wife/sons. I thought I would see a rainbow but I didn't find one. Megan - Good for Hubby! You two need a break and what a good reason for this one. Get's old hat not being able to work at your trade! God is Good and He knows all! Hedgie (when you come back on) let us know about Carolyn's first day at new job! I am so late getting my 3:00 cup of coffee - maybe I'll just do half a cup!!!
Yikes! Lynn and Dana, batten down the hatches, and hang on tight! Hope it's not a gully washer! You guys sure do get some crazy storms back there. Hope the winds aren't too bad. Saw the damage to Central Park in NY on the news early today. Pretty scary!
Megan, so happy about the job. Hope that helps reduce the cranky even if it can't make the heat/humidity go away.
Getting windy here with some "maybe" thunderstorms later. Sun still out and feels like 100.
Picture this: Megan arrested, carted off to pokey, huge mob of momsters & dadsters storm the pokey with "free Megan" signs!
I've tried looking online for brands/style I like but everything seems so young these days. All I want is a plain ole suit blouse to wear under sweaters for school. Sheesh! I did ask a sales person (associate) at Lord & Taylor and she said the Fall stuff isn't in yet. Still trying to get rid of summer stuff with clearance.
Andy, happy you don't have to take another keyboarding class and that you found a book. I hate to have students buy books anymore because they are so very expensive. A psyc text can cost over $100. Sure hope the deceased is quickly removed -- don't need stinky in your life.
A few years ago we kept finding the guest bedroom all messed up with stuff strewn around. I figured it was a critter that got into the attic. Closed the bedroom door and left a window open overnight. Problem solved! Got lucky!
Okay, I see it is time for my daily forage through the frig. for inspiration and food.
Awesome slideshow of 36 pictures on that link Loretta thanks ( : In case you didn't find it (hope this works) click here: SLIDESHOW 36 PICS of FINNEY LAND NEST
Hi everyone! Blessings around. I can't seem to get caught up on the blog, but in the meantime I'm glad to hear the good news about Koo.
Haven't called our friend George yet. I can't seem to get the courage to be supportive at the moment. His wife, Sally, was my best friend when they lived here in town. He followed a job to Alabama and we only see them 2 times a year when they come to visit their children/grandchildren; though we do talk on the phone every couple of months.
Darn weather! It's so humid and one nasty storm passed, now we have a tornado warning and lots of thunder. Didn't someone want this weather? They can have it with my blessings. Geez, I'll never get caught up. Take care and God bless!
Deb, thanks for the pictures of the Crazy Horse blast. Amazing how quickly they get it done!
Jim, I read the news in the Channel Is. reports. Not good news at all, but at least they were able to rescue the babies. Hopefully they'll mend quickly. Feel sorry for the parents, though. They must be traumatized! I never realized that invaders ever raided another nest! Learn something new every day.
Loretta, the info about the Finland ospreys was very interesting! Thanks! Nice to get a really good look at the nest tree.
Judie, buying books for school is relatively painless--for now, anyway. Since I have a student loan, all I have to do is sign for them. Won't be painless when I go to pay back the loan, though. My Anatomy textbook is a paperback book about an inch thick, and roughly the size of a binder. It was $63.00! Crazy.
Well, gotta go water my gasping patio plants. Can't believe how much water they've needed lately! I think a lot of them were potted in very sandy soil by the growers. Water seems to go straight through and out the bottom! Be back a bit later...
We have been to Ft. Worth to Omni and saw BUGS. Then we went to Braums and had our ice cream cones. Yummy! Now I am trying to find a moment to rest. Boy, they keep us busy!
I have forgotten what it is like to watch cams. LOL Diego, is it? I have not even had a chance to watch him. Have seen some cute pictures.
Bigger than a stick of butter but smaller than a breadbox: Our new panda cub's first exam could happen any day now - care to guess how much the itty-bitty bundle of joy will weigh? For reference, at about 3 weeks of age, big sis Zhen Zhen barely scooched the scale at 1.5 pounds back in 2007. Here's a photo to help!
There weren't any rescues/rehabs of the CHIL eaglets....2 were found dead this past week, one from the West end nest, the other from the Twin Rocks nest.
Andy, when do your classes start again...next week? 40+ yrs. ago my text books cost more than tuition, and it sure hasn't improved. There have been law changes (at least here in WV) that prohibit college bookstores from being the sole provider. Schools have to release text requirements to other sellers who can order/stock as they wish and can compete against the college store!
I found the water! You'll never imagine where it was ! lol It is the Gulf of Bothnia! It's on the map that shows where the Camera is located. I'll send you an email - took a pic of Halluoto.......
OMG...4 Kent Island High School football players in critical condition from HEAT effects....total of 9 on way to hospital. When are people going to learn?????
Chemical Overwhelms Kent Island HS Ball Players Reporting Mike Perry BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Click to enlarge1 of 1 A chemical causes football players at a local high school to fall ill.
Captain Mike Perry reports several players of the Kent Island High School football team passed out during practice.
At least 12 players have been transported to the hospital; four players were considered to have life-threatening injuries.
Officials say a chemical used on the field may be to blame for the injuries.
Hazardous material units from Queen Anne's and Anne Arundel counties are on the scene.
Players have been transported to both Anne Arundel County Medical Center and Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
That is not good news. The humidity takes your breath away! IMHO Coaches) should be asked to take 10 laps around the track and see how far they can go without collapsing.
oh there's the answer from Helen. That's awful ! Too darn stinking hot to be on the football field anyway! Someone is going to be in big trouble if that is a chemical problem !
Andrea - your email to me from last night hit my "spam" folder for some reason so my reply might hit your "spam" folder...hope you feel it is safe to open it. Got to figure that one out...something on my end no doubt.
Glad your doctor app't went quickly Jo....hope the results are top notch !
Dropped back in...Oh my so sorry about my comment about Channel Island. Read it then typed it wrong...darn! Sad they lost 2 eaglets dead...washed up on shore I believe.
Thanks Paula for the correction.
Now what is all this about the football players at High School. No doesn't sound like in comments it is the heat.
I am home, I would give you our humidity, it is at 66% right now, but it is not much different than yours at 72%. (I used Shep. as reference) we just aren't feeling it, because it is so cool out. If I could give you anything, it would be the rain. We have plenty.
Megan, so glad to hear about the job. I hope it opens up some more doors!
Deb - I just "watched" the Crazy Horse blast, thanks, but I bet it is a lot more exciting with Sound! I tabbed into my favorites for when/IF I get my audio problem fixed. Thanks !
Well, since the Cash for Clunkers program has been so successful that GM called back 1500 laid-off workers and plans to increase production by 60,000, the government now announces they are ending the program Monday. Does ANYBODY know what the H they are doing in this country anymore?????? JMHO.
8/20/09: Technical Note Due to the light activity at the nest, we will be taking the Eagle Cam offline soon. It will be back online in late November for the start of a new season.
So sad about the Catalina eaglets. I wish nature could always, always be happy.
Am concerned about the football players. Should have to have signs posted indicating chemicals applied and practice should only be in the earliest morning hours.
Lord & Taylor still here but probably not for long. I had tried some other places, less expensive, but sometime they have nice things at good sale prices. I do appreciate that there are still some nice places for customers to rest which I dearly needed.
Have to go now because SOMEBODY got me hooked on The First 48 Hours.
Pat Warren reports several players of the Kent Island High School football team passed out during practice.
According to the chief of Queen Anne County Emergency Management Kevin Aftung, about a dozen football players at the school exhibited signs of heat exhaustion.
The players and a coach were transported to four area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
Fifteen other players and their parents remain at Kent Island High School under observation for heat related illnesses stemming from the practice.
Officials say initial reports of a hazmat situation were unfounded although Aftung says they have yet to rule anything out.
Stay with WJZ.COM for updates to this developing story
it was just so weird, that they were all dropping like flies., they had the hazmat crews from Queens Anne and Anne Arundel County there, so that probably fanned the flames of something more than just heat, but still, c'mon coaches, where is the common sense
Thunder storms in the PA woods! I wonder where the cat is hiding out! I guess over the past we have seen 2 cats at separate times.
Thanks for the update on the Kent Is football players, Mits. I hope they are able to keep it at Heat Exhaustion and that no chemicals were involved. Players will recoup better.
Carolyns' first day at work went well---she mostly did file work all day, but did get to meet her 6 co-workers, one of whom leaves tomorrow to have a baby---it's apparently her job that she got. She has her own little office. She can dress VERY casually--no public contact involved. So far, so good! Thanks for all prayers and good wishes.
Believe me, Jo, raccoons are VERY nasty with each other and other animals, and fight viciously and make horrible sounds when they do. They think that all food products are theirs, and they don't want to share. The deer can give them what-for with a well-placed hoof smack.
Smell-a-cam would be a Hoot ! I would settle for Hear a Cam right about now. Have done what little trouble shooting I can do....for now. Still cannot understand how I can hear the two Scotland Osprey nest sites....
Update on the football folks is encouraging also.....hope it means changes for all future events nationwide! This is a near-tragedy which can be avoided...
Needless to say, any sound-related emails I receive, are not doing a whole lot for me.... can't even up some of them up due to a message about no audio...
Judie, I hope you find a blouse. Surely someone has put out fall things by now.
I put the little doggie outside on a lead. He's quiet and can't get to George. but I need Will to come home and take over. Last night, I left him downstairs in his crate, but I thought Will would be home by 9:30.
My day went well. Met lots of parents and students. At least one student will be in my class for the third time--ninth, eleventh, and twelfth grades. Several others are mine for the second time around.
I can see the rain falling and the raccoons....just can't hear anything, aaah, just like old times but it's live! One problem is that I cannot identify for sure what my Audio Device is....still checking through places I have never been to on this computer, but should have been way before this. The microphone icon has disappeared from the icon bar...have checked speakers but when I got to the computer volume control that is when it says "No Audio Device..." Will keep plucking away at it when I have time, but just hoping Video survives. Won't get to listen to any of the songs that Megan links us up to though...
Thought about Red, Hedgie, and thanks to all of you for suggestions. Maybe Jim will pop on and give me a clue too, and I have a co-worker who is a computer who is pretty sharp might call him up after midnight... I would love to hear the soothing rain and even the thunder !
Now I have to do some other computer maintenance, might not make it back.
So, if Not... Good Night my Eagle Pals ! God Bless Us, Every Single Special One
Margy go to your start Click on Control Panels Click on Sounds & Audio Devices
See if you can find anything...... Not that you know what you're looking for lol Place your sound icon on the task bar Check the volume control for your speakers...... That's all the help I can be....
Evening!☺ Been trying to write on here twice & power goes out!!! 3 times today---Duh! No storms, didn't hear a bang on a pole. This last time it even knocked out the street lights! Flashlight is at opposite end of house of course! Had a little kitty help as I slid up he hall---little furry feet in front of mine. Maybe she was the guide!
I'll be darned---put on PA Woods and all of a sudden, loud noise & raccons backed up----automated feed machine shot nuggets out to the ground! How clever--I never did see anyone carrying a bucket of food there!
I appreciate your all's help...I did send a message to Red... something will reveal itself here sooner or later, don't exactly have the time for it right about now...

Best wishes for a good day for you ☺
Thanks Steve and Margy. We certainly are tickled pink that our cam is back up.
Koo is on the launch pad...
And just flew out ! ☺
Good Thursday morning everyone
all caught up on mail and post, have a good one.
Ha, Mits, I beat you this morning! You must have had a good nights' sleep, so obviously quiet neighbors!
Nice to see still cam up, but glare too bad right now to make out anything.
Congrats, grannyblt, on broadband. It will be much harder now for you to walk away from puter!
Good morning, everyone!
Thanks, Steve, hope your Thursday is a good one!
Margy & Sharon, forgive me for being a dummy, but how do you get the still cam? I've always just watched the Live Cam, but would like to know how to get to the other one.
Andrea, copy and paste this

yes neighbors, upstairs this time, and they are owners, went in after midnight, and heard nothing for the rest of the night, thank God...so got a good nights' sleep:)
wow, Koo is back, and has a fish, was not watching closely enough to see how it got there !
Hi Helen ☺
And Andrea....☺
Don't you dare call my friend a Dummy, Ms. B

Thank you, Sharon! Fantastic!--and thank you, Steve!
By the way, looks like Koo has breakfast. Didn't see whether she came back to the nest with it, or if someone made a food drop. Somehow I missed it. Think Margy said Koo had taken off, though.
Thanks Steve for getting the still cam up and running. Nice ( :
Good Eagle Morning Margy, Grannyblt, Sharon, Mits, Lynn, Andrea and earlier friends.
Koo has a fish and is holding it with right talcon and eating.
it will be interesting Margy, but doubt if he will be able to go in the water, but who knows, it could stay much farther out and have limited impact...but always good to be safe rather than sorry
Do you think Koo might have caught breakfast for herself? I haven't seen any of the rest of the family around the nest. I sure hope she did!
Didn't see parent bring it in but parent took it from Koo, then Koo flew out of nest.
..sounds dreamy Dana ♪ ♫
Andrea, I had seen Koo alone, then Koo with a sibling, and/or maybe a parent.
Good morning, everyone. Thank you Steve.
First let me again say how excited I am to be an official eaglet momster and how much I appreciate being welcomed into the nest.
Koo still eating.

Hi, Dana. That was't very parently to take Koo's fish, was it?? BOO!
Okay, gotta go. Kids are impatient! LOL
Have a great day!
Amazing.
Judie - your Momster mail message is
WORKING....... WHOO HOO !
That must have been great Andrea to witness. No such thing as a
birdbrain as is sometimes used in our slang expression - no stupidity there!
No, Jo, absolutely not! That finch is as smart as they come!
cub in view..SD
Interesting observations, Andrea. Their innate sense of self-preservation is surely a blessing.
BTW....does anyone ever call you Andie??
Thanks, Jo. Now I can go off to the mall.
Judie
Looks like Koo made short work of breakfast. She was wingercizing, and now has company on the nest.
I am staring at the Still cam waiting for the trees to start swaying... lol
Remember that you can strike F5 to refresh and update the pic.
I am going to break away and get ready for my day.
BRB
You can call me Andy if you like.
Kids in grade school used to tease and call me 'Andy Panda'--pretty appropriate, considering!
Say, looks like Koo has taken off!
Sibling/parent still on the nest.
+Good Morning+
+Everyone+
I see Koo is eating...with a struggle...but I don't see if she is bringing them herself.
Did you see??
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Maybe if I type Andy, I won't have to change your name from Andrew to Andrea every time (just had to as a matter of fact! :)
Koo's back. Don't know the ospreys well enough to tell who her companion is.
meanwhile, there is a beautiful osprey at Finland nest
2 Osprey at Blackwater AND
look at the eagles' nest.
Fresh pine and all!
update from BWO
08/19/09:
It appears that our mother osprey is still with us and still feeding Braveheart herself. We'll update the web log this weekend
Jo, we must be watching the same cams:)
Lunch time here. Just need to catch up on this thread.
By the way, Jim, sorry you're a bit under the weather. If you have a chest cold, be sure to drink lots of HOT liquids. Chicken soup really does work, too. Take lots of naps! Hope you're feeling better real soon! Prayers being said for healing.
Deb, so glad you're better today!
Hope you're having a good day.
Golly, I just realized what time it is here! I need to stop by the school this morning and buy the books I need and get an accurate print-out of my class schedule. Guess I'd better get going. Will be back ASAP. :o]
Koo is off!
My day is going good, but it is only 63 here, with no sun. BRRRR! It is August, Weatherperson!
...and Koo is back.
here Deb, you can have some of my heat.....

Good, home for lunch means day is halfway over, sort of , Deb...
Love the goldfinch/goshawk story, Andrea...Survival of the Fittest...
Need to mail what I just wore out my Eagle Pen on...
TTFN xo
I would gladly take some of your heat, very strange weather here this summer.
ZZ's older sis, Su Lin, is investigating an enhancement thingy... with her fangs.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Boy oh boy, Deb, I would LOVE your weather! Wanna trade? There's a heavy marine layer right now, that should burn off later; current temp is 68, with 82 expected high.
Well, I'd really better get this show on the road and go buy my school books. Hopefully won't take too long. BBL.
Norma, if you are back yet.....sorry I don't understand your email problems....have never taken your name off my email list...today I get a message that AOL still has my email of today in your queue, but that it is full!!!! Is there anything that any of us can do to help you with accessing your mail????
Crazy Horse Blast:
Crazy Horse
It is no wonder you missed the blast, one blink and it was over!
cool....thanks, Deb....
Lynn, Norma's e-mail has been down for quite some time, I think ever since she got her computer back.
Out the door........
BBL
Me. too. bbl
Oh please, if Deb is taking our heat, can she also take the humidity???
Hello all:)
Hi, Megan,
Hate to say hello and run, but gotta go buy some school books. Can't say it often enough--how much I like your new avatar! Happy to see you here this morning/afternoon! Hope your day's a good one! BBIALW.... :o]
Hi, Megan....are you feeling more chipper today?
Chpper?? Sorry, I'm feeling hot, sweaty and aggravated...
Channel Island Reports
I don't know if you've read the Channel Island Reports yet this week... 'clicky' link is above.
Warning. There's some bad news in the Catalina Report, as well as some very interesting clips and pics.
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
Boy, look how full Koo's crop is!
C(°Ù¿°)D
Jim
AARRGGH---I just said Hello & copied a link & went to preview. Tried to get back to Post & "Webpage had expired"!!!!
Will try again....
Loretta - great Finney nest info.
You can now really see the nest and the water near by and other trees.
I love it when you have a visual - I never knew from where the fish were coming! Thanks so much for bringing it over!
No way!
BBILW
Now, Jo, there's nothing scary about a Skins' mask!! E. will be lovely as Belle!!!
When will you get the good result news from your CT????
Back for a visit.
The mall was not a successful shopping trip. Oh, well. Maybe next month I'll try again.
Megan, sorry you're hot, sweaty, and cranky. Sending cooling thoughts your way!
Andy, thanks for the goldfinch story. If only humans had such great survival instincts. Hope you got the books you need.
Okay, next to check the critter cams. Wonderful picture of Diego -- just precious.
Wonder how Shirley's doing with the students and their parents? Would rather deal with students, myself.
Jo, hope the report was good!
Later,
Judie
Thanks guys:) It is so humid out there today. Lynn, big job he's been hoping for came thru today, so he'll have work for at least a week or so. Just in the nick of time, I might add.
BBL- Hope I don't make the news..lol...
Megan is hot & cranky??! We had 2 BIG thunderstorms yesterday at 12N & 4PM. I was trying to drive in the first one---DUH.
But today ALL my deck flowers in pots were wilted!!!! BOO Just had to water everything.
Will attempt to go to store in hot & cranky car!!
Yeah Megan, God is good!
That IS good news, Megan! A week is better than 'nuthin'----and if it comes when needed the most, then the Lord has provided. Will continue to pray that there's another one right aorund the corner.
If you make the news, does that mean we need to come bail you out???? Just holler! We'll be there!
Judie, sorry you didn't find a blouse you liked. Do you do any internet shopping?? So much easier!!
We will definitely bail you out Megan, no matter what the charge! Unconditional love is what I have found around here!
Thanks Deb that blast took seconds.
Jo prayers for a good CT Scan coming
your way.
Andrea that was a truly scared finch!
Jim happy they got rescued.
Oh poor Megan...needs one of those
mist thinys to walk through.
No jail time for Megan. She has
a "get out of jail FREE CARD".
Loretta going to check out your
blue link.
Hi, everyone,
I made it back from school.
Storm close by---sounds like it's on the river...only about 2 miles as the eagle flies, so shutting down. BBL.
Just ran out put windows up. Started pouring the sky has opened!!
You should go look at DIEGO and his
momma.
Quick visit.
Judie
I need to close down...... Jammed up my Firefox....... BRB I sure hope.
Awesome slideshow of 36
pictures on that link
Loretta thanks ( : In case you didn't find it (hope this works) click here:
SLIDESHOW 36 PICS of FINNEY LAND NEST
Andrea glad you got 2 of your books and your schedule. That way you can make plans. Happy you don't have to take another keyboard class.
Megan a job for hubby fell in place, in time is wonderful. Happy that stress is removed for awhile.
Storm missed me again! Dana, did you get anything? Megan or Jo??
Yeah, we got about 62 drops of rain...I counted them all...
Another yellow jacket attack at Rock Creek today! Poor kids...ouch!
Ok, see now that Dana and Jo got some rain. Sorry, Megan...that's how it was here yesterday!
4 new lion cubs made opublic debut at the Norfolk Zoo today! Cute little guys.
It's been that way for weeks, storms build and then disapear or go right by us. Oh well, what ya gonna do?? water of course, so I'll get back to it.
From the San Diego Facebook:
Bigger than a stick of butter but smaller than a breadbox: Our new panda cub's first exam could happen any day now - care to guess how much the itty-bitty bundle of joy will weigh? For reference, at about 3 weeks of age, big sis Zhen Zhen barely scooched the scale at 1.5 pounds back in 2007. Here's a photo to help!
Very interesting link on the Finney nest, Loretta. Thanks! I followed another link from there, it gave info about ospreys they were tracking!
Need to fix dinner bbl
There weren't any rescues/rehabs of the CHIL eaglets....2 were found dead this past week, one from the West end nest, the other from the Twin Rocks nest.
Andy, when do your classes start again...next week? 40+ yrs. ago my text books cost more than tuition, and it sure hasn't improved. There have been law changes (at least here in WV) that prohibit college bookstores from being the sole provider. Schools have to release text requirements to other sellers who can order/stock as they wish and can compete against the college store!
Thanks for the slide show link, Dana...I didn't see that!!! Maybe that's where Loretta and Jo saw the water...going to look now!
Nope, still no water. Hmmmm....
Yepper! We had another downpour that lasted a little longer then the one earlier. Grass is going to grown - I mean the Clover is blooming!
Hedgie - I need to look again at the link and find that WATER.........
I found the water! You'll never imagine where it was ! lol
It is the Gulf of Bothnia! It's on the map that shows where the Camera is located. I'll send you an email - took a pic of Halluoto.......
OMG...4 Kent Island High School football players in critical condition from HEAT effects....total of 9 on way to hospital. When are people going to learn?????
Chemical Overwhelms Kent Island HS Ball Players Reporting
Mike Perry BALTIMORE (WJZ) ― Click to enlarge1 of 1
A chemical causes football players at a local high school to fall ill.
Where is Kent Island, Hedgie?
Good news for Megan's man....
regarding the hot and cranky, I would have made a squirt gun and water balloon attack if I could have...☺
Oh, very tough news about West End and Twin Rocks....
And miserable about the critter in the attic, Andrea....if it's a roof rat, better dead than alive I guess....
Lord and Taylor....haven't heard them mentioned for a looooooong time. Good luck seaching Judie...
Good Afternoon everyone
so much news on here takes time to remark on all of it !
That is not good news. The humidity takes your breath away!
IMHO Coaches) should be asked to take 10 laps around the track and see
how far they can go without collapsing.
When is Common Sense not appropriate ?
oh there's the answer from Helen.
That's awful ! Too darn stinking hot to be on the football field anyway! Someone is going to be in big trouble if that is a chemical problem !
Thanks Mits! Can't imagine why that wasn't a know factor before practice started out on the field.......
Praying for those kids!
Kent Island is on the Eastern shore, Margy....right after you come off the Bay Bridge.
Keep checking our Still Cam and refreshing....... No body there!
they need big prayers....:(
common sense....can someone tell me where it has gone:(
Andrea -
your email to me from last night hit my "spam" folder for some reason so my reply might hit your "spam" folder...hope you feel it is safe to open it. Got to figure that one out...something on my end no doubt.
Glad your doctor app't went quickly Jo....hope the results are top notch !
I see both adult osprey at the platform
BWE experiencing some interference.....
Remember I don't have any Audio so if you all start hollerin' about an Eagle Visit, I ain't gonna hear it :(
Field probably should have had those little sign like the lawn companies put in the grass after spraying.
Oh dear me sending whatever prayers are needed.
I am home, I would give you our humidity, it is at 66% right now, but it is not much different than yours at 72%. (I used Shep. as reference)
we just aren't feeling it, because it is so cool out. If I could give you anything, it would be the rain. We have plenty.
Megan, so glad to hear about the job. I hope it opens up some more doors!
Lynn, the only water I see is on the maps.
Blue Jay coming in for some bird seed.
No others are there but he still has to
act like he is King of the Feeder.
Just a flitting around....
Now saying possible chemical on field causing illness. MTBR.
Mits has it covered.......MTBR. On the Eastern shore, Margy.
Even if it is the heat, someone should be in big trouble!
Deb - you're right! It is the map that shows the Gulf of Bothnia where the next is located.
Hope your day went well.
Thank goodness for indoor jobs!
I knew the cam was where it is cause I had looked it up on a map a long time ago....I thought Jo and Lowreeda were seeing water in pics of nest!! Duh!
Deb - I just "watched" the Crazy Horse blast, thanks, but I bet it is a lot more exciting with Sound! I tabbed into my favorites for when/IF I get my audio problem fixed. Thanks !
Andrea...
Congratulations on your testing successes..
Time for tomato sandwiches, back in a little while.
xo
Breakin' for the 6:30 news
BBILW
More rain, please move to the East Coast.
I am going out to dinner tonight, one of the Interns last night in SD. She heads back to college on Monday. BBL
Well, since the Cash for Clunkers program has been so successful that GM called back 1500 laid-off workers and plans to increase production by 60,000, the government now announces they are ending the program Monday. Does ANYBODY know what the H they are doing in this country anymore?????? JMHO.
Lynn did you read in newspaper where the guy used the "Cash for Cluckers" to get rid of the car he fatalitly hit someone?
BWE update....
8/20/09:
Technical Note
Due to the light activity at the nest, we will be taking the Eagle Cam offline soon. It will be back online in late November for the start of a new season.
Sure is nice to see our nest, even if it's MT. Looks like they have been working on that weed!
Dana - thanks for the slideshow link.
Deb, thank for the crazy horse link!
gotta go feed the dogs.
Hailing on PA deer cam
Can't be it has to be the way the water is hitting things/
Yep, Dana, saw that report....unbelievable.
Just stopped by for a very quick visit.
Judie
Hope you enjoyed dinner out tonight, Deb.
Jo, earlier a Dove tried to take a cooling bath with two Bluejays -- Bluejays were having none of it --not into sharing, I guess.
Shirley must be home about now. Bet she's slam wore out. Wonder if she's even going to have the energy to say goodnight?
Back to 48 hours.
Judie
Deer and raccoons at Pix
I think there's a fawn
Hi,
Got home a little while ago. Put away groceries, fixed some soup, and let out the little doggie.
Need to read the posts.
update from WJZ TV....
The heat and humidity sure can be nasty, especially when dressed in uniforms and pads and such.
I felt bad the uniformed soldiers at Arlington last Friday - but I did hear their uniforms are breathable at least.
sounds like a storm nearby at PIX-PA, the raccoons fight with each other too.
it was just so weird, that they were all dropping like flies., they had the hazmat crews from Queens Anne and Anne Arundel County there, so that probably fanned the flames of something more than just heat, but still, c'mon coaches, where is the common sense
raining at PA, looks like steam coming up from the ground....
Thunder storms in the PA woods!
I wonder where the cat is hiding out!
I guess over the past we have seen 2 cats at separate times.
Thanks for the update on the Kent Is
football players, Mits. I hope they are able to keep it at Heat Exhaustion and that no chemicals were involved.
Players will recoup better.
well those kittys would not have a chance with that crew at PA
I'm listening to the woods' sounds
I keep forgetting it has sound...
Wow the racoons can be nasty sounding at times...... I didn't know they sounded like dogs.......
Thunder busters !!!!
Dawn at Finney nest...
Carolyns' first day at work went well---she mostly did file work all day, but did get to meet her 6 co-workers, one of whom leaves tomorrow to have a baby---it's apparently her job that she got. She has her own little office. She can dress VERY casually--no public contact involved. So far, so good! Thanks for all prayers and good wishes.
that is great, Lynn...
watching the raccoons, is like some sort of horror movie...nasty little buggers.
Believe me, Jo, raccoons are VERY nasty with each other and other animals, and fight viciously and make horrible sounds when they do. They think that all food products are theirs, and they don't want to share. The deer can give them what-for with a well-placed hoof smack.
good for the deer:)
good thing we don't have smell-a-cam, wet raccoon and rancid feed probably would be awful:(
Smell-a-cam would be a Hoot !
I would settle for Hear a Cam right about now. Have done what little trouble shooting I can do....for now. Still cannot understand how I can hear the two Scotland Osprey nest sites....
Sounds good Lynn...!
off to watch a new ACE OF CAKES on the Food Network
Update on the football folks is encouraging also.....hope it means changes for all future events nationwide! This is a near-tragedy which can be avoided...
Margy, have you read anything on their site that might help....
Needless to say, any sound-related emails I receive, are not doing a whole lot for me....
can't even up some of them up due to a message about no audio...
if you left click on it twice, it goes to ZAP TV, try that.
I can see that a lot has been going on today.
Hope the football players will be okay.
Sorry about the eaglets that did not survive.
Everyone take care.
Good night.
Late night Shirley....welcome home ! We were not extremely chatty today...
Margy, at least it can't be your sound card if you are getting sound from some sites!! Maybe try emailing Red and see if he has any suggestions!
Great news about First day on the job. Filing might sound trivial but it is sure a good way to see what it's all about!
Margy these raccoons really growl!
But the falling rain sound so smoothing.
WHOO HOO
LOOK AT THE HAIL IN THE WOODS
I can see the rain falling and the raccoons....just can't hear anything, aaah, just like old times but it's live!
One problem is that I cannot identify for sure what my Audio Device is....still checking through places I have never been to on this computer, but should have been way before this.
The microphone icon has disappeared from the icon bar...have checked speakers but when I got to the computer volume control that is when it says "No Audio Device..."
Will keep plucking away at it when I have time, but just hoping Video survives. Won't get to listen to any of the songs that Megan links us up to though...
It does look like hail the way the drops are bouncing...maybe just an illusion.
Oh too funny a raccoon shaking off the water just like a doggy does...
and looks like the wind is really swirling some insects too!
Margy go to your start
Click on Control Panels
Click on Sounds & Audio Devices
See if you can find anything......
Not that you know what you're looking for lol
Place your sound icon on the task bar
Check the volume control for your speakers...... That's all the help I can be....
Is it insects or leaves......?
beautiful dawn at Finland nest now.
Evening!☺
Been trying to write on here twice & power goes out!!! 3 times today---Duh! No storms, didn't hear a bang on a pole. This last time it even knocked out the street lights! Flashlight is at opposite end of house of course! Had a little kitty help as I slid up he hall---little furry feet in front of mine. Maybe she was the guide!
Congrats to your daughter, Lynn on first workday!
Want to see the Cake Ace---maybe during commercial can check PA and hear some noise.
MARGY, CAN YOU HEAR ME????
I can hear you loud and clear Loretta...just cruised through some settings can't get anywhere.
I'll be darned---put on PA Woods and all of a sudden, loud noise & raccons backed up----automated feed machine shot nuggets out to the ground! How clever--I never did see anyone carrying a bucket of food there!
Pretty, two each at the Finland land and water nests
I appreciate your all's help...I did send a message to Red...
something will reveal itself here sooner or later, don't exactly have the time for it right about now...
Okay, I't going back to some maintenance...
Back later...maybe much later...
xoxo Before the Split...xoxo
Short visit.
Shirley, glad you had a good day.
Lynn, very happy Carolyn's first day was a good one. Keep us posted on her progress, please.
No storms here in Northern VA. Maybe tomorrow. Really humid. I WANT SOME COOLER WEATHER NOW!
Margy, hope you get the audio problem solved. Course, for me, sometimes silence is blessed.
Okay, time to try to get some sleep. Turning off my light but leaving the night light on for others.
Split coming.
Judie
