Paula I loved the videos. Hidey sure was mantling. Belle had a time getting it away from him. Just got to watch the shading also. Amazing how Belle and Lib take care of their little ones. Oh fed the fish. BBL
I'm back!!! Sidney nest is having a feeding and the largest eaglet is in the rear with the 2 younger ones up front! Don't know how long it will last!
I was taken to eat at the OutBack! Sooooo Good!
Raining here. Paula loved the Milestone videos! She is acting more then just a 'going on 7 weeks' old eaglet. Really progressing! Won't be long my buddies!
Link to Mason's candles Thanks Jim, Mits & Deb for keeping them glowing! Parents also need our prayers & positive thoughts for the upcoming years of caring for their son. Bless them!
I'm new to the cam but I love to birdwatch. It's now 9pm EST and I see both parents are not in the nest. Do they always leave the chick alone at night and how old is it exactly? Today I thought it was going to take flight when it was testing it's wings against the wind. TIA. Kat
Hi Kat! The eaglet is 6 1/2 weeks old and is old enough to be alone at night. The parents are probably both right in the treeabove the nest. That is where they usually are at night when there are eaglets in the nest. The eaglet won't fledge until around 11 weeks, give or take, but as you saw today is starting to strengthen her wings. (We don't know if it is a he or she, but we like to guess)
Thank You Deb! I read all I could today but couldn't find it's age, or much about behavior. I'm eagle ignorant I see lol. I've learned so much just watching the nest for one afternoon. I'm glad they are most likely close and I had wondered, were they just beyond the camera, roosting. :) Thanks again, I will try to tune in daily to watch. That 2nd fish that parent brought today was large! And she covered it totally, after that one shot of the fish, blue gill looking size and shape, that was it. Totally covered their catch as they devoured it. Take Care Kat
Covering their catch is called mantling! That's the first we've seen of it so far this year...time will come very shortly when the parents will drop in with the fish, the eaglet will mantle it and eat it all by itself...and the parent will just take off! It's a real trip when you watch 3 of them do it!
Been having internet problems tonight....maybe weather related. AND, horror of horrors, I've got a roof leak in the sunroom....always something new to worry about. And it hasn't really been raining hard. ARGH!
Jo, it was good, and no continuation! I always have thought that pink dogwoods are "cultivated" and don't grow in the wild. But I have noticed that often the wild ones have a slight pink tinge early in the blossoming stage....maybe Megan can tell us more! Why can't you take pics of yours??
Wanda, the L-O-T-V are blooming...boo! Will take pics tomorrow if no rain. Apparently my lilac isn't going to bloom...nor my rhododendron. Just leaves. Two peony blossoms starting. But they rarely develop to maturity for some reason. Last year I had one for the first time in about 8 yrs. Told ya'll...no green thumb here!
Oh, Jo, misunderstood!!! Yeah, I need new glasses, too....just can't seem to get an apptmt. to jive with daughters' schedule....I can no longer see to drive after they dilate my pupils---takes several hours for me to "recover"---I also see everything in blue during that time....wierd!!! No one can explain that one to me! Good night, dear friends. Pleasant dreams and blessings. Margy.....where are you???
Whoooooo's Awake and Whoooooo's Asleep? Just returned a little while ago from a visit with the grandson in Morgan County, took a little nap during cartoons, don't worry I don't keep him up late!
Saw four nice wild turkeys in a field there, all hens I think.
Just looked at the Lake Washington Baby Eaglet pics on the Maine Forum, TFTNS as Deb calls it ☺...and also just saw a little baby-tending and wiggle wiggle a few mins ago too, did not see the eaglet.
Who can tell with all the stuff in the nest at Finney Water....???but I saw what looked like an egg to me...more to be revealed...could not get a screen grab :(
GOOD THURSDAY MORNING MARGY AND MEGAN. Glad to hear that Hidey had a little fish for breakfast even if it was from the tail end. He is really getting big, but sure wish he had someone else to bond with.
NORMA I have the one computer on the Stork nest that we have watched before and it looks like there are 3? eggs sitting under the mother? I hope they hatch before school is out.
Not much new here. Bought a new computer; just have to find the time to try and figure out how to set it up; maybe this weekend. That will be a pain.
MARGY Sorry to hear that Betty Pulson has died. I'll read the obit when I can get some time .
Hope everyone on here is doing ok, MITS back from her trip (?) in one piece and everying just hanging in there and watching and blogging.
Time short here , so have to shut this down. All have a beautiful day and hopefully sooner than later I will be able to be a part of it all again. (Hugs to all)

Good morning, everyone. I think we may have some sun today! It rained again during the night, but I slept right through it. We don't need anymore now for a while.

MORNIN' MOVIN'JIM!----What's new with you?-----I have had a busy week----haven't been on much!-----have work-out this am too!---Cloudy---temp 49° here this am---expecting more showers!!----
WOW! JIM---The 'little one' ho!---feels left out!----BELLE & LIBERTY are not giving her a fair share!! No wonder she is GROWING & GROWING!----adorable!! COOL---
Still catching up on blog, but Yes, Norma, front page article about Ms. Pancake. It does not give a cause of death, but say that it was a health issue. So sad. we used to have a nurse at the hospital whose name waws Pancake....wonder if related?
When I posted at 0146 this morning I thought I had seen an egg....but with all the nest things in there, could not get a very clear pic. On Suz's first email I thought it looked like an egg...I think there is one there. Female was doing a 180 every few minutes...Hope we can get a clear view of SOMETHING there, but lady bird sure seems to want to stay close to the action!
Hope everyone is having, or is going to have, a Great Day, perfect spring weather, cool and beautiful. My Megan Flowers are doing well, so far so good ☺
GOOD MORNING LADIES AND JIM... It is a cloudy morning here and only 51°. I'm watching Hidey and there is just no joy in his/her life. Can't wait for her/him to fledge to find "something to do" besides lay around in the nest.
Good Morning All! Cool and crisp and not too wet! Our cam I think would be condensation on the lens BUT I thought it was one big puddle also! lol Our big gal is up preening! Hidey is learning all her nest skills! Love the videos!
Did you fill your bucket through the night, Lynn! I have heard from Loretta - taking a break and getting things back in order. Good to hear from you Candy! Perhaps we will hear something about your friends grand daughter in the news but it is such a tragic loss. Also the young woman about to graduate from the Mount who was struck and killed while jogging is another loss. They are just starting their lives.
NORMA, the Pancake girl supposedly died of a medical condition, but authorities have stressed that it is not a contagious disease. I guess they are trying to alleviate fears of "Swine Flu". When Gene and I were active in the Elks, we traveled a lot in WV and became friends with a 'Happy Pancake' from Sistersville. With a name like that, they have to be related. Anyway, an autopsy will tell exactly what she died from. So sad to see someone so young die.
Good Morning, Jo...speaking of joggers, did you notice the photo of the joggger as we were taking our bus tour. I thought it was funny to see someone jogging that far away from civilization. Hope SNAPPY didn't get her. LOL
PA Falcon cam News: 4/29/2009 Peregrine Chicks Should Hatch Soon! Based on incubation periods recorded in past years we should expect the first egg to hatch on or around May first. In the past one of the five eggs has failed to produce a hatchling. I will be interesting to see what happens this year.
Wanda - both Jenny & Kristen watched all the slide shows this Tuesday and they laughed when they saw our Jogger! I guess she was a local but I wish she had a dog, a big stick for fighting off Snappy or a co-jogger! lol
Good morning all!!!! Yet another cloudy cook day here. See that OK is not on.....not enought son. Have HI up, thought for sure I would miss the hatching, but maybe not! Yea!
Oh yes thank you Paula the videos were EXCELLENT !!!!
Was alittle worried when I looked at comments. Seen emails addy's posted. I can remember everyone saying "No Don't Post In Here Your Email Address"!!!....but all is well ( :
I have some afternoon fun too. Lynn hates this....getting pic taken for license. lol Monkey on the photo....rememeber the email that went around and you clicked to see your picture and it was a monkey lol that's going to be me today.
I watched Hidey this morning. When parent flew out of nest. Hidey positioned herself as if to fly out behind parent. Then just started flapping wings like crazy lol
Can hardly wait to tell all of your about our day yesterday!
We went to the banquet at Texas Motor Speedway. This banquet is given for blood donors over 10 gallons. Jack is at 15. Since we went to the speedway last year I did not want to go there again. We have our choice of where to go and I wanted another place. However, good friends wanted to go here and we did want to go with them. AND I AM SO GLAD WE DID!
We got to ride with professional drivers (one rider per car!) in bright yellow corvettes. Four cars took off at one time....in formation. LOL Anyway, we hit the curves at 105mph and the straightaways at 120mph. (They had slowed down a bit and spread the formation out a bit as we did this IN THE RAIN!) Yes, I was very nervous!!! But, I loved it, it was soooo much fun! I am not a NASCAR fan, but I am a fan of experiencing life! (As long as it does not involve height!!!)
So far Denton ISD has not closed. Denton is an hour north of us. That is Laurel and the boys. Fort Worth has closed, 15 miles north of us and Cleburne just a few miles south of us has closed.
Lolly, how lucky you were to get to experience that thrill! I've gone 120 on a motorcycle on a straight stretvch of rode, but have always wanted to feel the speed on a track, pulling G's!!! I have also been up in an aerobatic plane (a Citaborea) and did loops and snap rolls and barrell rolls and a hammerhead stall, if any are familiar with those. THAT was the bestest adventure I've ever had!! Have a fun day, Margy!
Dana, you are probably/maybe choosing the wrong time to go to DMV!!! Last and first days of month are normally SO BUSY that it takes hours!!! I'll wait til next week...and then maybe go to Bardane!
Jo, fortunately no bucket needed....it was just a dripping and not a streaming leak!! Paper towel did fine. It was coming down right onto the middle of the glass-topped coffee table!
Two indigo buntings out here. There was one here earlier this morning that was quite a bit bigger than the other. I have had 5 male grosbeaks and 2 female. I love spring!
Lunch time here. I was hoping to mow some more, but the downpour around 8:30 took care of that. The SUN is out, haven't seen it since Saturday or Sunday, it is so nice to see.
I didn't make it past the picture, too much for me. I hope they catch whoever did it and it's too bad they can't do to him, what he did to that Bald Eagle.
I have a new adventure planned. Just informed Jack. Hee Hee! We will travel to the northwest, park our trailer, take the several ferry rides to Hornby Island and stay at a bed and breakfast. Now does that not sound like fun! I googled "where is Hornby Island" and now I am all set to go! We have sort of talked about another west coast trip next spring. Hmmmmm! This is a possibility. Would like the economy to improve! That might help!
GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! I slept in for a while this morning, and then it took forever to catch up on e-mails and blogs. Beautiful day here in SoCal-- sun's out now, no wind yet, and 71 high is predicted. Momma hummer is on the nest. Will try in a minute to get a picture! Must go to the high desert today to check on our house up there (inherited from my parents), and make sure all is OK. It's 95 miles one-way, and I hope traffic isn't too bad. Whole trip should take about 3 1/2 hours. I see that Hidey is sprucing up her feathers again, and sticking out one big yellow footsie! Well, BBFN, I gotta hit the road running! Have a great afternoon. :o)
Yes, tried going in through Hancock, plus a couple of other "backdoor" routes...thought maybe just too much traffic....didn't have any problem yesterday. Mits, article is dated today. The other instances they talk about were either '05 or '06 I think it said.
News Alert 1:54 p.m. ET Thursday, April 30, 2009 Obama Security Advance Team Member Has Suspected Case of Swine Flu A member of the security advance team for President Obama's recent trip to Mexico is suspected of having contracted swine flu.
ok Lynn will go back and read your link, like I said that chat gets hot and heavy sometimes, a native american women got on and complained people were blaming all natives..
Here's a tidbit about Vancouver from Fodor's Travel:
Between mid-November and mid-February, the world's largest concentration of bald eagles gathers to feed on salmon at Brackendale Eagles' Park (Government Rd. off Hwy. 99, Brackendale), about an hour north of Vancouver
No, Lynn, that was as close as anyone could get to take pictures. The helmets were heavy and very snug. Also, the fit in the car was snug. We were belted in very securly, very snug.
4/30/2009 :: First Egg Hatched! The first of the five eggs hatched mid-morning today. Typically, the female lays an egg at one to two day intervals. Stay tuned throughout the weekend to see if all five eggs hatch.
Lynn, from the results of recent blood tests, she is still in the secondary phase, since they think April 1st.....last year she did a 75 day gestation period before they called it off, talking to a keeper, her gut feeling is maybe 3 weeks from now. but Mei is such a mystery as all all pandas, nothing has showed up on recent ultrasounds, but they really don't expect to see anything till time gets closer, and even then it doesn't always show up, Mei is around 250 lbs, and cub would only be 4 to 5 oz's.
Well, my blood counts are a lot better today. My hemoglobin was 11.4 I think. They are going to do iron studies and she said I may need 1 more treatment but will know more when those studies come back. She also gave me antibiotics because my legs are not looking the best where I hit them with the TV.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 400 of 557 Newer› Newest»Great videos, Paula! I am glad you got the mantling one!
Well, our Hidey is feeding herself!
Hidey is picking at nestovers....
Deb, lucked out on both of em...been in and out of my office all day....was in when they happened...and they were loud so I could hear them!
He has to learn how to hold it down with his foot! That will come soon enough!
Awww, she is acting like a big girl now, moving sticks and picking at the nest.
I am glad you were in the right place at the right time, Paula. I can't get Hornby open at all. I'll have to try the wide angle.
What in the world is she doing now. Head moving 90 miles a minute!
Paula I loved the videos. Hidey sure was mantling. Belle had a time getting it away from him. Just got to watch the shading also. Amazing how Belle and Lib take care of their little ones.
Oh fed the fish. BBL
Check out those talons on those big ol feet!
Love it that Hidey is closer to this end...nice view!
Thanks Ceil...
Sharon, he rubbing/cleaning his beak really fast!
That Hornby chick is a real peeper!
I had to restart my computer to get HI to open.
Adult back in our nest...
Watching HI at present.
Quite a lot of people are ecstatic over the HI hatch....was the first nest that many people first watched 4 years ago...
Both adults our nest!
I am having trouble getting our live feed back on...anyone else???
Cam finally back on....Belle in nest with Hidey...tidying up...
I love getting to see Liberty and Belle flying towards the nest.
It looks like the little baby is getting protected again! :)
Link to Mason's candles Thanks Jim, Mits & Deb for keeping them glowing! Parents also need our prayers & positive thoughts for the upcoming years of caring for their son. Bless them!
I agree that our nest pic right now in the damp cool rainy night is the most
heartwarming scene!
I have had my pop up on since my return from dinner.. not freezing. It is going strong.
belle is moving around..gonna leave I think
And she flew up into the tree.
I'm new to the cam but I love to birdwatch. It's now 9pm EST and I see both parents are not in the nest. Do they always leave the chick alone at night and how old is it exactly? Today I thought it was going to take flight when it was testing it's wings against the wind.
TIA.

It's been a busy phone night here, cutting into my cam watching!
Hi Kat! The eaglet is 6 1/2 weeks old and is old enough to be alone at night. The parents are probably both right in the treeabove the nest.
Take Care
Kat
Covering their catch is called mantling! Finney on the Water has the osprey in the nest. No ferry - missed it again!
Jo, it was good, and no continuation!

Thanks Paula - I am anxious to see the
GOLDEN egg.
Good Morning, Jo...speaking of joggers, did you notice the photo of the joggger as we were taking our bus tour. I thought it was funny to see someone jogging that far away from civilization. Hope SNAPPY didn't get her. LOL
PA Falcon cam News:
4/29/2009 Peregrine Chicks Should Hatch Soon!
Based on incubation periods recorded in past years we should expect the first egg to hatch on or around May first. In the past one of the five eggs has failed to produce a hatchling. I will be interesting to see what happens this year.
Hi to all in Eagleland
Exciting things happening again.
Thanks Paula
Loon egg

Sorry for friends loss Norma.
Wanda - both Jenny & Kristen watched all the slide shows this Tuesday and they laughed when they saw our Jogger! I guess she was a local but I wish she had a dog, a big stick for fighting off Snappy or a co-jogger! lol
Ditto that, Thanks Paula! can't wait to see that/those Golden Eggs again ! ♥ ☺

Hi Lolly !
'Bye now, or I am going to be Late !
Wanda - I saw you included the jogger in your pics...
Hi Margy bye Margy ( :
I watched Hidey this morning. When parent flew out of nest. Hidey positioned herself as if to fly out behind parent. Then just started flapping wings like crazy lol
Parent at BWE...eatin' time
Parent just arrived!
HI parent up
Parent just flew into our nest
Will catch up on things later after I get back.
Plan on creating a blog with pictures. Will let you know when I get them posted.
Other news, school districts are closing here until at least May 10 because of Swine Flu. Every day more and more cases.
HI egg is hatching, but not complete yet. That little Hope is sooo cute!
Lolly - I was wondering if those closings were close to you or affected your grandkids
I would have been nervous on the track in the rain, too! Maybe not so much on dry track, tho.
I'm on the phone but watching Hornby!!!
good morning everyone
So far Denton ISD has not closed. Denton is an hour north of us. That is Laurel and the boys. Fort Worth has closed, 15 miles north of us and Cleburne just a few miles south of us has closed.
Paula, you would have loved it! I kept telling myself that they would stop the rides if they considered it too dangerous.
Boy, my brain and fingers are sure out of sync....I meant to say "stretch of road"....argh...hate when that happens!
Dana, you are probably/maybe choosing the wrong time to go to DMV!!! Last and first days of month are normally SO BUSY that it takes hours!!!
I'll wait til next week...and then maybe go to Bardane!
Oh my! Hope is quite the chirper!
Hope is very vigorous and vocal for her age. Very precocious!
Or, is she very hungry?!!!!!
Good morning Mits. How the heck are ya?
Jo, fortunately no bucket needed....it was just a dripping and not a streaming leak!! Paper towel did fine. It was coming down right onto the middle of the glass-topped coffee table!
Two indigo buntings out here. There was one here earlier this morning that was quite a bit bigger than the other. I have had 5 male grosbeaks and 2 female. I love spring!
Shurnlea, how are you feeling? How are the legs? ANY abdominal discomfort????
lunchtime! I caugt an adult on the still cam that I just happened to have opened which the live cam froze and had to be restarted.
Parent in the nest on the far end .... fish under the cam....
Lunch time here..
ajsmolski Check out the Hornby cam

Are ya'll calling the HI chick Hope??
that is the name that Doug Carrick gave it, Paula
Thanks, Mits - guess I missed that info somewhere!
Eatin time at HI - looks like end of second egg is about off....
Doug's name is in the left hand corner of cam, he is the man responsible for it being there
WoW! 1520 viewers at Hornby...
At least the Hammers are taking a lunch break! lol
I'm off to get ready to go pick up new specs. Be back later this afternoon.
BBL
Yup, Familiar with that name...
Hee Hee! Just figured out a place to do my walking/excercise and keep and I on the HI cam! We just finished...heading outside for a "walk a bout!"
BBL
Wings flappin our nest
Lunch time here. I was hoping to mow some more, but the downpour around 8:30 took care of that. The SUN is out, haven't seen it since Saturday or Sunday, it is so nice to see.
HORRIBLE, TRAGIC NEWS. So very sad and cruel and criminal...
Richmond Eagle
That is Richmomd, Vancouver, British Columbia. Reading the article reveals many atrocities in the recent past. Just awful...it makes me sick.
I didn't make it past the picture, too much for me. I hope they catch whoever did it and it's too bad they can't do to him, what he did to that Bald Eagle.
I am back off to work, BBL.
Parent at BWE - long feeding session
Both BW cams are stuck...was wondering about that feeding session!
Can't get the page to open...just as well, probably don't want to see the picture either...read the description...
You could all look for our periscope there!
That WOULD be a great trip, Lolly.
BTW, that article came from one of Doug Carrick's feeds. And I can't get either Hornby cam open...trying to do so is where I ended up with that item.
Feeding at HI...second egg not hatched yet!
Hey Lolly...you can visit the Saanich/Sidney too while you're up there. And make sure you drive Route 1 up the coast...
My HI is freezing on me. Is that common?
when there are so many viewers mfm, it is.
have fun ms. bookwoom
Belle just brought in some more greenstuff.
Hedgie - I guess you already tried going thru the Hancock site?
Nice up close shot of Belle's beak...looks perfectly fine
was that the article from 2006, Lynn...they were talking about that on HI this a.m. I think...chat goes way to fast
Mei is really restless today
Wonder what the stats on our live cam are?
Hedgie - try out this link
Hornby - up close
looks like the 1st hatch in PA peregrine falcon....broken egg to the side
thought I saw some fluff, but no sound from chick if there is one
Yes, tried going in through Hancock, plus a couple of other "backdoor" routes...thought maybe just too much traffic....didn't have any problem yesterday.
Mits, article is dated today. The other instances they talk about were either '05 or '06 I think it said.

Obama Security Advance Team Member Has Suspected Case of Swine Flu
A member of the security advance team for President Obama's recent trip to Mexico is suspected of having contracted swine flu.
bet he is more than concerned now....
Did you see it Mits! Little fluff ball!!
ok Lynn will go back and read your link, like I said that chat gets hot and heavy sometimes, a native american women got on and complained people were blaming all natives..
Mits, it was found Sat. Newspaper up there printed story today. In '05--48 mutilated eagles were found in vicinity in two seperate areas.
seen it Paula, just wondering why I'm not hearing it chirp, must still be too tired from the hatching
yikes, had PA up too loud and train scared the beegeeous out of me
Here's a tidbit about Vancouver from Fodor's Travel:
Between mid-November and mid-February, the world's largest concentration of bald eagles gathers to feed on salmon at Brackendale Eagles' Park (Government Rd. off Hwy. 99, Brackendale), about an hour north of Vancouver
Wouldn't that be the field trip of a lifetime????
Paula, we aren't showing at all for yesterday or the past week on Beakspeak....maybe Steve will see your post and get us figures.
Belle is right in front of cam, and the fuzziness shows on her feathers, too.
Okay, have new blog ready. LOL Go to Speed Racer!
Yes, Paula, we have done HWY 1 and our plan is to do it again. Beautiful!
Mits, did anyone at the zoo yesterday give any indication of their gut feelings about Mei????
Good pics, Lolly.....didn't anyone take one of you IN THE CAR????
No, Lynn, that was as close as anyone could get to take pictures.
The helmets were heavy and very snug. Also, the fit in the car was snug. We were belted in very securly, very snug.
Going to mow!
BBL
4/30/2009 :: First Egg Hatched!
A really wee butterstick! Praying for a positive outcome this time aorund!
we all have our pseudo-thumbs crossed Lynn, that would be just so awesome.
today is the day for another egg at BWO....so here is hoping for a 3egg clutch for them, but if it is only 2, that is ok also
and BWE and O are still down
Well, my blood counts are a lot better today. My hemoglobin was 11.4 I think. They are going to do iron studies and she said I may need 1 more treatment but will know more when those studies come back. She also gave me antibiotics because my legs are not looking the best where I hit them with the TV.
I find it Amazing that pandas only give birth to 4-5oz cub...
Hidey looks soooo comfy in the bowl...footie stretched out
I sent Lisa an email...didn't know if she was aware or not.
Here's that bald eagle story
Mutilated Eagle
