feeding BWE and osprey at BWO

Lolly said...

Good morning! Sort of quiet this morning. Usually when I get on there are more blogs to catch up on.

Cool here this morning and the wind is still blowing. Yesterday the sky turned grey and we had smoke in the air. Texas fires west of us, lovely, just lovely!

Just checked OK and they have white tops on the lake. Also, could see one dud egg still there in the nest.

Had to look hard for our eaglet, he
is hard to see when asleep and not moving around.

normabyrd said...

Didn't know the PA PEREGRINE FALCONS' nest now has 5 EGGS & she has laid 5 eggs for the past 4 yrs!---(another catch up for me)

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' LOLLY!----Your avatar certainly shows that SPRING has reached TEXAS!!----Your flowers are AWESOME!----(even if you did quit making home made bread)----ho!

Lolly said...

I meant "white caps", when I typed the other I knew it sounded funny. Maybe I should go back to bed. :)

Headed to Denton this afternoon. Have Joseph's baseball game to attend, as well as two little boys to hug. Need a fix!

Lolly said...

Good morning Norma! Jack made bread yesterday and he had toast this morning for breakfast. The smell almost did me in!

Mits said...

see Norma that is why you have to read the posts on the threads and you would have know that, you don't even have to go to PA site except to watch the cam.....we report everything here...lol

normabyrd said...

PAULA---Did you notice how white one side of the REBELS' nest is???----Maybe they hired TOM SAWYERS to paint the nest!---ho!

Lolly said...

Yes, spring is definitely here. We have so much in bloom. The roses on the front fence are spectacular and have not reached their peak. My first poppy opened yesterday, right next to a dutch iris that has been open for several days. And, the clematis on the "zebo" (gazebo} is blooming.

normabyrd said...

Thanks MITS for the info!!---Will remember that----but I enjoy seeing the changes------even if am a week late---ho!

normabyrd said...

LOLLY---Tell JACK -- I thought I smelled that bread this am!---ho!
ENJOY your day!!!

Decorah eagle meal in the nest is just too graphic! Yuk!

Costume Lady said...

LOL...Hidey is doing nestorations!

normabyrd said...

OSPREY on the CONN nest---Her feathers are spread---almost like she is tenting--but not quite!----I LOVE that site----all they need is a 'blue bear'! ho!

hedgie said...

Check out Finland water nest!

Costume Lady said...

Speaking of graphic, Lolly, did you see my video on Facebook?
I'm probably going to get expelled from facebook for putting it on there:)

Lolly said...

Whoa! HI is really noisy today. Must be a flock of migrating grackles.

magpie said...

Good Toss, Lynn....
That Osprey has the whole jewelry store on her neck ! xo

hedgie said...

Lolly, Decorah is kind of yukky, but sure love the color and the up-close look-see!
Osprey still at Finland.

magpie said...

Both adults at BWE...stunning

hedgie said...

Wanda, did you email Steve to find out who to call (at all hours) in case Hidey goes over the edge?

Mits said...

Tai is going for a swim

normabyrd said...

I found an OHIO PEREGRINE FALCON located on the ledge of the RHODES TOWER in Columbus Ohio!!----I had to hunt & peck to find it!!---She 'SCOUT' has 3 eggs----due the end of April!!

Mits said...

Norma you have mail.

Lolly said...

Need to run into town to the grocery store!

Have a great day eagle friends!

magpie said...

...our first reaction, Lynn....is going to be call 9-1-1 !!

Just think of all the 9-1-1 centers nationwide to get that call!

....just crackin' a funny....It would be very helpful to have some contact numbers...if Hidey takes a Hike! xo ☺

nicole said...

Thanks to all of you who post here. Someone posted the beakspeak website yesterday for me and my boys spent the evening checking out the other nests. Hidey is our first love, although really enjoying the OK nest too...They are so amazing i am having a hard time doing anything other than watching these cams!

Costume Lady said...

No, I didn't email Steve, Lynn, but If Hidey goes over the edge, call me and Gene and I will rescue him. Gene can keep Mom & Dad from attacking me while I pick up Hidey. I'll just keep him til NCTC opens up. I have plenty of squirrels around here for food:)

Costume Lady said...

WELCOME, NICOLE. Come visit us often and stay late!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Greetings everyone. Just want you to know I'm alive and well dodging thunderstorms today. I'm still watching the nest and Hiddy and lurking here some. Just too busy to talk a lot. I'll keep in touch.

Mits said...

I saw you briefly on BRS blog the other day, Red, take care.

paula eagleholic said...

Hope you are feeling better, Red.

Thanks for checking in!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Good to see some Dadsters on here today! Hello Jim and Red!

Mits said...

been keeping an eye on the RTH at Portland, and she will not get up.

Mits said...

God Bless everyone, talk to you all later:)

deb said...

Hi everyone. Just checking in to see Hidey alone and an Osprey in BWO. Off to check the Portland Red-tail to see it any hatch has happened.

hedgie said...

I'm not familiar with the 12-3 ritual....is it a special Catholic observance? I am always so sad on this day so I am going to keep busy with cleaning.
And just had a phone call from a friend who is home for the week from FL to see her mom and dad...going to meet up with her for lunch tomorrow...a pleasant surprise.
Is the guard shack number listed
anywhere? Wanda....we don't want you to get arrested!!
BBL.

deb said...

I hadn't heard of it either, Lynn, I was thinking ti must be an East Coast thing, but guess not.

deb said...

Parent, our nest, looks like Belle.

paula eagleholic said...

Parent in the nest!

Hidey takes a poop shoot, and is ready for lunch!

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey is doing more nestorations!

paula eagleholic said...

Wasn't really lunch, more like a couple of bites of nestovers...

movin said...

Hedgie, Deb. It's been many years ... but I think 12-3 were the hours that Christ was on the cross; so there is always a vigil during those hours on Good Friday.

I don't know if it is only Catholic or not.

C(°Ù¿°)D

Jim

movin said...

P.S. I can't seem to find the comment that made you wonder about '12-3,' but I don't believe that is the official name of vigil (which name I've forgotten). It's just the hours during which it takes place.

deb said...

Thanks for the info Jim. Helen and Margie were talking about it.

Still all three eggs in Portland.

deb said...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I am wondering if Lib is sitting right there to keep the little turd from falling off. Working pretty well if that is the intention.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

“From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land.” Matthew 27:45

hedgie said...

Thanks, Jim....don't remember it being part of Presbyterian observances. Makes sense, as you explained it, tho'.
We had (I think my sister still has it) a beautiful huge oil painting of Christ on the Cross that my dad painted when he was a young man. The canvas was frayed and the paint badly cracked, but it was so special. Wish I had it now.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Ok, I need Hidey to go back to hiding. Making me nervous here.

sara said...

Getting a little too close to the edge!!!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Ok, I am thinking if Belle bring some food in, then Hidey would turn away from the edge of that daggone nest.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Sara, we go through this every year but that does not make it any easier to watch.

sara said...

Has one ever fell? Just tell me no.

movin said...

Both O's at BWO now, and it looks like they've been busy bringing in reeds... too bad they don't have heavier sticks from trees and bushes available to them.

You see them in other Osprey nests, but I don't think they've had any for this nest for at least two years.

C(°Ù¿°)D

Jim

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

No, one never has, and that is the truth.

sara said...

I don't think I can watch. :)Liberty needs to kick him back in the nest.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Sara, did you see that I live in Bluefield?

sara said...

I did but I was a little busy this morning and didn't get a chance to respond.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I keep minimizing the screen and then putting it back up. Driving me nuts.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Now before we were worried one eaglet would knock another one out of the nest. Oh my, Libery just moved away from in front of Hidey.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

There we go, turned back towards the middle! YEAH!

sara said...

Now Hidey just needs to sit there. No moving...

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Parent rustled up some nestovers and Hidey is eating now, sitting in the middle of the nest.

paula eagleholic said...

Lib just arrived!

paula eagleholic said...

Think he was just checking things out...think he went up in the tree.

Belle has grabbed that fish from the back of the nest...Hidey has waddled over...he wants more lunch, I guess. Belle is eating with her backside to Hidey.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Ok, so I guess that has been Belle in the nest the whole time. Thought it was Lib.

paula eagleholic said...

Belle took off, not sure if she went up in the tree of not.

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey just sitting there with those big ol feetsies sticking out....parent just flew off the tree and behind the nest!

paula eagleholic said...

LOl Sharon, sometimes it sure is hard to tell, ain't it.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Now that is amazing. Trying to build up that side of the nest!

ltl said...

yeah, way to make us feel a little better!

sara said...

Doing home improvements to build up the sides a little.

hedgie said...

Glad to see that Red joined us for a few lines!!
Had to laugh at the whitewash comment earlier...think it was Paula's!! Can you imagine how much worse it's going to get?? Just hope he doesn't hit the cam lens!!!!

paula eagleholic said...

Parent is back!!

Looks like Lib

paula eagleholic said...

Welcome, Itl.

There went Lib off the back

ltl said...

thanks, paula. this cam is my new favorite show (just turned on to it yesterday), and i'm looking fwd to talking to ya'll.

I like the Nest Cams site for Decorah and then from there I get the X-cel cams

I've been checking on the red tail hawk as you have been - looking for a hatchling which could be any time now.

hedgie said...

Encouraging news about Mason. Thanks Jo for reminder....I forget to check! How are you doing today? Any special plans for the weekend?

Mits said...

Hello, back from shopping for the M&M girls....getting ready for Church services.....don't know where the 12 to 3 started and how, just was something we did at our house, and I did some searching on the web and it depends on whose gospel you read and what clock whether Roman or Jewish, many different determinations and discrepancies out there...so take your pick:)

Mits said...

Great news for Mason:)

hedgie said...

Move over, Hidey! Stay away from the edge!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

This has been a nerve-wracking day watching Hidey. He is geting a little too brave for me!

Mits said...

here come the geese

Mits said...

lol....the geese flew right by the nest and woke up Hidey

magpie said...

Regarding the Noon to Three observance, yes, for me it has always been what I had been taught was the time of the crucifixion, leading up to the final hour....I suppose it might be a Catholic thing, but not sure really about that. I liked your posted verse from Matthew, Sharon .It was a peaceful quiet time here, but I have to admit I fell asleep after bringing to mind all the names I was including in my prayers....it is a very long list. Sometimes I just say,"Everyone in the World" because everyone in the world needs a prayer.

Good Evening Wishes to all....

And Yes....Hidey makes me so very nervouse being that close to the edge too, but I trust that the parents are keeping close watch of their little toddler...☺

hedgie said...

Sharon, I think he's just a little too brave yet! Nest housekeeping has apparently cleaned out all food remnants.
Checked beakspeak, and we are still not on the most-viewed lists. But had a lot of trouble getting live cam up today, so seems there must be a lot of viewers!

magpie said...

I'm going down for a snooze, have to go to the office later to make some fire investigation tapes...
hoping that eventually our local arsonist/s will be identified and apprehended.

deb said...

Whoa, incoming tree. Look out in the nest. Hidey ducked but got hit with the stick first. Now both parents are eating.

Gabriela said...

Any idea what Lib is eating with such relish??

Gabriela said...

Looks bony. Squirrel, maybe?

NatureNut said...

NatureNut said...

OH NO! There's a leg across the lens. But I can see adult's blinking eyes at edge of nest. Guess she's keeping Hidey in.

deb said...

Spidey is back and more than a leg! Yuck

Mema Jo said...

It's been a quiet day at my house - I hope Lib & Belle are going to use all those new sticks to build a high baby gate for our Hidey! I see the guard standing duty on the edge!

Adult is in the nest with the 2 BW eaglets tonight.

Mema Jo said...

I can't get the LW streaming feed up/running.
I thought that NBG had a night light ?
I'm not have much luck viewing this late in the evening..

paula eagleholic said...

I got LW slo mo up

deb said...

When I open the Kent cam, I get LW live feed.

deb said...

I think you need to watch if a newcomer posts a link on their first post. That is what happened last year.

Mema Jo said...

How did you do that Deb? Did you need to wait a long time before it came up?

Mema Jo said...

Deb - I'm sorry - you said KENT - I can get that Live Feed too. What about your LW Live Feed........

paula eagleholic said...

Me too, Deb...I did accidently click it first thing, but realized my mistake and tried LW...their live feed link isn't working..

Hello and good night, went to church, then dinner, watching TV now, lots of stuff to do tomorrow..take care

paula eagleholic said...

Jo, we are both getting LW live on the Kent link...not Kent on the Kent link....from the WDFW page.

deb said...

I don't know how it happened, I went to check the Kent nest and instead I am watching the LW nest. It says Kent at the top, weird.

I am off to bed, have to be up at 5, Roger and Mary getting to my house at 6. Night all.
