Hello all:) Going to be a beautiful warm day here, Hidey is gonna be looking for shade later.
Hey Deb, I'll trade you one carolina wren alarm clock for your cardinal alarm clock. Keep in mind, the wren is set for 4:50 am, and has no snooze function.
Have a great day, I'm off to play in the plants. Hope to see more hummingbirds today:)

deb said...

I'll have to think on that one, Megan.

Norma, kayaking was on Wednesday and my arms did fine. We were only out a couple of hours, so it wasn't too strenuous.

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' MEGAN!----I just watched the video on BWE at the site of the 'REBELS' banding----They looked calm--cool & collected in these pics!!!

Norma, sorry to hear about your friend. We went to the wake last night of my sister-in-law's nephew, 23 years old. He has a 3-year-old son who is the spitting image of him. Such a sad time for everyone. His father just died in February.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
It is a beautiful, sunny morning here in Martinsburg/Shepherdstown. It is 49° and going up to 76°...what more could you ask for on a Friday. Saturday and Sunday are going to be beautiful, as well, but quite a bit wamer!
By the way, Megan, I have a Robin nesting right outside my bedroom window, and I find the Robin THE most annoying wake up call I have ever heard. She fusses ALL DAY LONG! She doesn't have a snooze button either..LOL

Costume Lady said...

Candy is in THE OUTER BANKS of North Carolina. The fires are several hundred miles away in South Carolina. CANDY IS SAFE FROM THE FIRES, BUT HURRICANE SEASON WILL BE UPON US BEFORE LONG:(

ceil said...

Morning all. I live in the city. I will trade you all your birds if you take my annoying neighbor. He comes out around 6 or 6:30 with coffee sits on his bench and yells at everyone going to work. He also has a radio that does the fire and police calls. We do have lovely birds but they do not drown him out. He has been good lately because we have complained to him. Sorry to vent on this beautiful day

psmith said...

Could today be the day? The little one seems very interested in the outside world today. Lots of exercising of the wings too.

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' WANDA!!---Thanks!---That is good news!---I knew that!-----As our high school math teacher would say: Norma ---Put your 'THINKING CAP' on!! ho!

ceil said...

PSSMITH it will be a few more weeks before this eaglet will fly.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I hope today is not the day. It will probably be over a month before Hidey is ready to fledge. Has to get flight feathers in, practice a lot more on the wingersizing!

ceil said...

Have a great day everyone. I better get started. See you later

normabyrd said...

SORRY---PSMITH---SORRY!--misspelled your name!!

Costume Lady said...

SMITH...It will be long time, yet, before Hidey Fledges. Thank goodness. We want to keep him in the nest as long as possible. We enjoy watching his antics:) We will have a field trip in June to to watch him practicing "flying".

latest update for Mei....

Hi Panda Group: MX's hormones are still elevated. This is good news and gives us some hope that April 1 was actually the start of the secondary phase - giving us more time to see behavioral and possibly ultrasonographic changes. Fingers crossed.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

For the people new to our nest, just imagine 3 eaglets doing the wing flaps at the same time in the nest. That was more than nerve wracking!

Dark clouds have rolled in...looks like it's getting ready to dump...don't recall that they were calling for anything....yuck!

hedgie said...

Yep, raining now.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

They had mean people there, right?

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Did we watch that one last year?? Seems like it was probably a couple of years ago.

normabyrd said...

HEDGIE!---It's raining?----WOW!---that's unexpected!!

paula eagleholic said...

Yes, Hedgie, chance of passing tstorms next couple of days!

Mits - those were nasty people there! They have sound now....cool. Someone there said the WDFW Osprey has an egg today!

Mits said...

looks like that rain will be at nest maybe in the next 20 to 40 minutes....if it does not dissipate

Mits said...

yes Sharon, some people that we actually knew were very mean...:(, then last year you had to pay to get a good view.....this year view looks good, have not read their chat yet

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

The word "dissipate" used to be one of mine and Donna's favorite words. We used it a lot, even when it made no sense!! :)

Mits said...

I had to use my spell-check for that one:)

Mits said...

Woods Hole opsrey nest has an egg, think I read that

Lolly said...

Good morning! Whoa, when did Hidey get so big? He/she is growing too fast!

Nope, Norma, no sub at OK this morning. Looks like it is windy there again. You can not believe the wind that was there last Sunday morning. I had to brace myself on the van to stand up!

Norma, there is a picture of Jack on my blog. You know I have to take pictures of my Jubby!!

hedgie said...

Where is the APP-ART nest, Mits? Not familiar with it.

normabyrd said...

HEY!---You MOUNTAINEERS should take a drive this weekend!!---The RED BUD & DOGWOOD TREES ARE just AWESOME!-----I know I said that earlier this am---but it is truly a beautiful sight!!!---(ONLY HAPPENS ONCE A YEAR)!!-----ho!

Lolly said...

Hey Norma, have already traveled to east Texas for the Dogwoods and my many redbuds are already leafed out. Beat you!!!!! :)

A little cloudy here today. Rain is supposed to start possibly this evening and all of next week it is supposed to rain. PTL!!!!!

hedgie said...

Paula....tech questions re: photos...on the Netbook, can I put all the pics I have downloaded onto a flashdrive and then put onto PC? ON PC, can I transfer folders of photos onto a disc and then delete from Picasa (and then just use disc to view them in future)? Do I just use a CD-R disc or do I have to have another kind?

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' LOLLY!---Yes!---I can believe how windy it was at OK!!---We could see how swift the water was----that's why we were so worried about you all!!!----THANKS for the PIC!----HANDSOME KID!!---ISN'T HE?----ho!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Is the baby smurf cam up?

hedgie said...

Mits, when you say people you knew were mean at APP-ART...do you mean folks from OUR group??? Or frequent posters on other chats that you all knew?

Mits said...

former blog people, Lynn

Mits said...

Ct nest is having problems, Sharon.

hedgie said...

What's the smurf cam, Shar? You all are pulling new ones on me!!! LOL!

Lolly said...

I hate to leave such grand company, but it is time for me to walk/excercise. My jubby is pressuring me to get my morning in action. I am so s-l-o-w moving in the morning and that is the way I want to be!!! Sigh.....need to get up earlier.

Bye.......BBL

paula eagleholic said...

Hedgie - Answer to tech questions....all yes...you've got it exactly right

Although, everytime I bring up Picasa, it scans for new photos...you may want to change that option if you are just going to keep them on the CD

Hedgie - when we found app art a couple of years ago...the people making comments on their chat/blog were nasty to everyone...It may be different now...haven't checked it lately

paula eagleholic said...

Looks like Belle was covering Hidey, but she's gone now...

Hey Margy...

hedgie said...

Late morning starts are what retirement is all about, Lolly!!

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am thinking it was the CT Osprey cam? They had brought a blue teddy bear in the nest so I called the baby, "Baby Smurf". One of the hurricanes blew the bear out of the nest but the baby had already fledged. He would stand on that bear, lay on it.

magpie said...

* Hi Paula and Everyone Else *
The White stork was just up and there are surely two white eggs on the nest. Sound is pretty bad on that cam, like there us a short circuit or something in it.
White Stork Nest, Germany

Deb hope you didn't have to call in a plumber, but Norma might have the name for a good one from last summer if you need to ☺

Hope everyone has a good day, and that we see Mema back on here soon.

I've pretty much coughed my brains out the last couple of days so anything else I try to say probably won't make much sense.

Mits said...

Saw the coolest thing this morning on my elementary bus run. Mature bald eagle caught a rabbit in a field and headed to the nest. Pointed the eagle out to the kids but didn't mention the rabbit (LOL). Now I gotta go over in my truck with binocs and try to find the nest.

hedgie said...

Thanks, Paula!! Netbook keeps saying that memory is low (think it defrags whenever it says it because it says it is restoring memory or something like that!)--and I know pics use a lot. And don't what to bog down PC with alot...I have about 4 yrs. of pics on it!

So why do people have to be so nasty? Makes no sense....can't all just get along?? Peace on Earth!

MARGY...you're up and about...how are you feeling today??

Mits said...

Tai Shan is eating among the spring blossoms

Mits said...

driver lady, is that the NCTC nest you are talking about:)?

hedgie said...

Welcome, driverlady! What a cool vision, huh? Where are you located?

hedgie said...

Margy, are you taking a good cough medicine? Can imagine how you feel like holding your head together when you cough that much...been there!...and oh, the headache!

Just heard that Texas is the worst place for hair!!! (humidity=bad hair day) Never thought that TX was particularly humid except along the coast! Have things changed since I was there in '68???

paula eagleholic said...

Hidey is 6 weeks old tomorrow!

paula eagleholic said...

Lots more wing flapping!

paula eagleholic said...

Moving some fluff, and walking around the nest...learning how to balance better...

paula eagleholic said...

I am new to this site and really enjoy the Eagles and see that you talk about other cam. can you tell me where I can find them?

Mits said...

A bald eagle nest located along the Potomac River is the focus of this live Web cam maintained by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS). The nest at Shepherdstown, W.Va., is on the grounds of the USFWS National Conservation Training Center, on the historic river upstream from Washington, D.C. The nest has been active now for four seasons, fledging several juvenile bald eagles. A large international community viewing the bald eagle Web cam has developed as a result of the presence of the nesting pair. Eagle cam fans are currently celebrating the hatching of a new eaglet. Check the cam regularly and see what’s for dinner and how the new family is fairing.

dragonmyazs said...

Thanks hedgie, my kids love this one so I'm sure they will love the others aswell.

hedgie said...

dragonmyazs said...

Florida, lot's of osprey nest but I don't know of any Eagle. I'm sure there are some I just don't know where.

hedgie said...

There used to be one in Port St. Lucie (where my mom used to live) but it's no longer an active nest. Not sure if there's any others or not.

paula eagleholic said...

movin said...

Sharon--
I learned recently that ants, which smell and taste with organs on their feet, will not walk on a greasy or oily surface.

So, I've been using old Crisco (with transfat) or Vaseline at the contact points between my feeders and the hanging or mounting devices, and I've had zero ants on the feeders.

If you're just hanging them by a wire, put a band all the way around the wire someplace, and that will keep them off too.

paula eagleholic said...

Look at Hidey standing at the back of the nest....no doubt you can see him over the edge from the ground.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Jim, my hummingbird feeder is actually attached to a suction cup on the window. I have tried Vaseline before and they just went right over it.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

It would be kind of hard to put Crisco on my window! :) Although, I know that Crisco is the very best!

Mits said...

lol....industrial strength ants.....must have put their booties on Sharon

paula eagleholic said...

Can't wait to see Hidey start getting some air!!

Mits said...

its the only kind I use, or used to use.....not much frying going on in this house:(

paula eagleholic said...

Spray the suckers...

paula eagleholic said...

My Crisco looks really old and nasty! I think I need some new stuff!

Guess I should chuck it, huh?

Mits said...

yeah spray them with Windex, no ants and you will have clean windows;)

Mits said...

sure it has a long shelf life, but if it looks nasty, chuck it.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, I can't get my popup cam to work. It is just showing part of the main web page and I can hear the sound.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

I am hoping this Crisco has a really long shelf life! ☺ ☺ ☺

paula eagleholic said...

I think I did pitch it...need to buy a small container, just to have on hand!

paula eagleholic said...

I think Hidey is watching the flies at his feet!

Mits said...

yes, my pop-up has not been working all day...

paula eagleholic said...

Osprey still laying in the BWO nest

paula eagleholic said...

I don't use the pop up, but I tried it to check it out...all I get is the upper left hand corner of the cam page....not the cam itself...except for a tiny sliver of it along the bottom of the pop up window.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, you can go to the edge and stretch the box where it shows the whole page but that is kind of useless.

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

It is still up on my laptop because I have had it up since yesterday.

paula eagleholic said...
