that is kind of hard to do, there are 40 plus cams that we watch at the top of the screens during the day, to keep up with them, when they are outside, less at night time, and where she is now only about 6 cams on her.
Hi Guela...< it's a funny thing about that sound, sometimes there is a persistent hum for awhile, sometimes not....and now, just cool easy breezy sounds !
just sent out an email to addresses that I have, just talked to ED Mema Jo has pneumonia, CT revealed it...at first they thought she had food poisoning, but she is on heavy duty antibiotics, will go back on Tuesday.
That could be why she was so warm on the bus on Tuesday, she may have been coming down with it then. I am glad they caught it and can treat it at home.
I told him call if he needs anything to call, but knew with all the kids, he would be helped out, and what a blessing they were for him and Jo, and he certainly agreed with that
Margy it is good to see you are feeling better. All that yelling. LOL Jo you know you will be in our prayers. Get well quickly. Deb I was hot on the bus also.
I was hot on the bus, too!!! I didn't really think that Jo's cough sounded any worse that day than normal. I was more worried aobut her leg being in a dependent position for so long---felt that she should have been on the bed w/ it elevated while we were traveling. Those of us w/ respiratory conditions know that pneumonia can develop almost overnight, so it's very important to get started on antibiotics the day the symptoms start.
Just read Margy and Helen's emails about Jo. That lady sure needs a break from illnesses! I guess her faith and family and friends brings her through...she's a much loved person! I know we will all be praying for her speedy recovery.
As for Jo's sweating...she always sweats. Anytime we are together in the Eagle Express, I give her a wet washcloth to wipe off with. Her hair just drips with sweat! Might be her medication. I sure hope our trip didn't do-her-in! Our boat ride, on the way back, was a little chilly. She did have a coat on, but nothing on her head. Margy was bundled up, but still go laryngitis. Probably from coughing so much.
Both members of the pair were on "Finney's" nest looking as though they were guarding against attack. And the female is on the other one at almost dark ... in fact she's lying down now.. she might be ready to lay eggs soon.
Quite breezy here...and at nest, too, I'm sure. Wish Hidey would stop w/ the wingersizes for now. Wind is working against me with my clean-up detail...argh! Hoping it will die down come evening and then maybe I can get something accomplished a bit easier. It is 93 here.
I know, Wanda.... i asked her a couple of times if she wanted to! Guess she was afraid she'd miss something...LOL!!! Thanks, Jim, for update on hummers. I just saw one at my feeder! Don't know where his competition is!
Good PM Everyone. Have not been on here for a couple days & just looked back to learn of Mema Jo. Good grief!!! She seemed fine here on TU, except for warm on the bus tour, but it is stuffy in there. I wondered if something was up;, as she sent me an email question, I wrote her back, but she never responded. ☺ ♥ ☺ to Mema Jo. The osprey cam here has been showing some HP activity, but NO egg laying yet!? I took my own advice & went out to eagle nest at lunch time. Adult was sitting right below nest, but only saw one Flapper. Flipper & Floppy must have been resting. I will not be on much early next week as beloved BIL, Perry passed away Fri. AM. F Home visitations on Mon., funeral on TU. We knew it was coming, but he was so chipper at his wedding last Sat. Didn't expect it this soon. He had a long, eventful life.
Loretta, I am so sorry about Perry. I am glad he enjoyed his wedding last Saturday and that you all got to share it with him. Prayers for you and all of Perry's family and friends.
Hello, Harlowe. Loretta, so sorry to hear that Perry passed. So glad that he and she had that week as marrieds. Hope that she is doing as well as can be expected. Was Perry Franks' brother?
'Golden Girls' Star Bea Arthur Dies At 86 Beatrice Arthur, the tall, deep-voiced actress whose razor-sharp delivery of comedy lines made her a TV star in the hit shows "Maude" and "The Golden Girls" and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.
Golden Girls Show reminds me of GeeGee describing herself after she had her stroke. She said,"Have you noticed that I walk like Estelle Getty on Golden Girls? I have the Getty Shuffle"!
Loretta so sorry to hear about Perry. I was thinking of you before and wondering where you were. So glad the wedding was last week. Condolances to you and your family.
Carol, you get more used to them being close to the edge the older they get. Next comes using their wings whenever it is windy out, that makes nest watching exciting.
Hello all....been out enjoying the beautiful weather today and had to check on Hidey. When I first looked in I thought it was Liberty or Belle in front of the camera and then looked again and it was Hidey. He/she is growing so much. Now all alone in the nest.
Hello Evening Eagle Pals....sure is nice to see everyone ☺
Loretta.... I'm so sorry to hear of Perry's dying, but it is comforting to know he had a little extra time do some of the things he really wanted to do. Prayers for comfort for all...
Ceil... Thanks for putting me on the list for prayers... I know they work !
Just reading your all's posts reminds me of a few more things.
I have the absolute bare basic cable package, which was fine with me because it had Maryland Public Television, PBS, and WETA...so what happens? For some reason ComCast yanks MPT and PBS off! ( I will be calling about that)
So I watch the Hallmark channel early after midnight, three episodes in a row of a show I have not seen for awhile: The Golden Girls - now I read about Bea Arthur passing away...she sure put some smiles on MY face early this morning.
Sara - I thought the very same thing when I hadn't been able to watch the nest for two days! where oh where did our little baby go ? but he (or she) still has that baby squealing sound ☺
I saw my first one yesterday. For the second year in a row....it was crawling on the extension cord I use for the leaf blower....don't know whether it's the orange that attracts them, or the electric current flowing through it. I tend to think it's the latter, as I and many others have also experienced ants that are attracted to electrical outlet boxes!!
I thought it was very interesting. Soak a cotton ball in liquid soap. Hold it on the tick for several minutes and when you remove the cotton ball the tick is supposed to come off, stuck to the cotton ball.
Interest, Lolly.....guess the soap makes it withdraw head, and it's legs get caught in the cotton! Worth a try, for sure. Just always wash site good afterwards with soap and water and apply antiseptic and antibiotic ointmt.
Some of you were mentioning high temperatures earlier...well, at Back Creek this afternoon, three adult women, and 5 children were swimming and having a great old time. Also, three area residents were there wading with their two dogs, a border collie, "Angus" nearly blind, and wonderful Beagle named "Hudson."
I did a little experimenting and have opened up a new blog link, called Wildflowers in West Virginia. I still need to study and work on what I am doing, but there are few pictures on there from this afternoon. Deb you were asking about Swinging Bridge, well, it surely is not very romantic looking, just consider it "the bridge where the Original Swinging Bridge Used to Be a Long Time Ago..."
Oh, by the way, man that has creek property and a wonderful house, is a Botanist! Wanda tell Gene: confirmed on the Ramps !
Yes, Deb...always want to encourage them to retract head first...tweezing can force the saliva into the wound if head is still under skin...hot match, or healthy drop of alcohol usually does the trick. And maybe soapy water!
Bee stingers are the same way...if you try to use tweezers=same result (venom instead of saliva!). Scrape with edge of credit card or table knife to dislodge.
Thanks for great photos, Margy!!! And thanks for id'ing the star chickweed...have some and didn't know what it was!!! You're doing very well w/ your camera!
I pull them out of the dogs, so no matches around their fur. It is hard enough to get them to hold still when I check them. I'll remember the soapy water and try that, but now with tick prevention stuff from the vet they don't get as many.
Lolly Since I moved into this apartment four years ago, there have been two black and white cats that just ease along from one apartment bldg to the next, they must be twins! But, last night, there was also a whiff of "the other kind of black and white cat" in the neighborhood.
By the way, I was not one of the people swimming in the creek today! ☺
Hedgie... I am not always positive on my ID's and am always open and ready for corrections, but these seem to match my wildflowers book... Did not get any ramps today, but did get permission to get some! I wasn't dressed to go too far afield.
Thanks for the encouragement ♥ Back in a little while.
Thanks Deb...hey, how does the tick prevention stuff work on humans? We would pay dearly for something that works for any upcoming nest visits!
These two dogs today...Angus, nearly blind, 13 and already living one year past predictions as he has a large tumor in his abdomen. Hudson, the beagle, was found the very same day the owner's lost another dog, "George" (no details on that) - during a visit at the Hudson River....they were wonderful, I should have gotten their pictures, darn it!
I have to tell you one more thing: The resident who is a botanist, pointed out an area where a family of 6 beavers, several years ago, pretty much dammed up the creek and caused it to divert and create a little island. He said "Thank goodness they didn't like the walnut trees." They have since moved on he said. I did not see the beaver today.
I worry about putting it on them, somehow doesn't seem like it could be good for them. It is a liquid that goes on the skin. Vermillion has a flea problem in the summer, so it is either the medicine or fleas all over the dogs and the house.
My Cinnamon had an allergic reaction to the flea/tick preventative last year. So using herbal this year..,.eucalyptus oil on collar. Hope it works! Lolly....stay cool....we were hotter than you! Turning in...sleep well all...prayers for all as always, and special ones for Jo, Dana, Loretta and extended family, and Margy.

The way Mei Xiang is acting today, would not be surprised to go to the 24/7 pregnancy watch very soon
Good shot of the HH Osprey chicks, they are so cute. Oops, mom got in the way.
they are adorable and so are those RTH chicks, such sweet faces.
That would be exciting, I hope there is a little cub in the future.
that is odd, turned off the cam on Mei Xiang...
Maybe someone hit a wrong switch?
that is kind of hard to do, there are 40 plus cams that we watch at the top of the screens during the day, to keep up with them, when they are outside, less at night time, and where she is now only about 6 cams on her.
she may be outside....
High today in Bethesda MD is supposed to be 86° it is already 87°
O at Finney's nest
I think that Leaf is driving Hidey Crazy! He was just trying to eat it ..was so funny
nope she is still inside
O in Finland nest too
O in Finland has a nice fish
suddenly I have sound at our nest......wonder of wonders!
2 O's at Finland eating the fish, that is a good sign:)
O's sure are at Finland...thanks for the alert, Mits...so beautiful, the close up...
Yes it is. I wish you could control how it zooms in on that cam.
I think several years ago we could take pics when Finney was in the nest.
2nd O just arrived at Finland nest
I think I was taking pictures last year, pretty sure I might have a few of when the Sea Eagles were there too
Anything before that, I wasn't born yet (to all this fun...☺)
Got to see what the outdoors is like for awhile...
Take care everyone...always nice spending time with "you'uns"....xox
That little orange "circle of love" at Finland is fascinating ♥
Hi Guela...<

That could be why she was so warm on the bus on Tuesday, she may have been coming down with it then. I am glad they caught it and can treat it at home.
Thanks Helen, for getting the information to us.
Well, glad that Jo can stay and be treated at HER ROOST - and surrounded by all the bird and animal activity if and when she feels like it.
Thanks for being the messenger, Mits, Ed makes a perfect choice when he contacts you ♥
JO: WE ARE HOLLERING ALL OUR GET WELL WISHES AT YOU...HURRY BACK TO WELLNESS...AND GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL THE CAREGIVERS...
I told him call if he needs anything to call, but knew with all the kids, he would be helped out, and what a blessing they were for him and Jo, and he certainly agreed with that
She has had a rough winter and now spring...hope the summer is better.
That's one stellar couple who have raised a wonderful family...
Thanks again Mits ....you have a tough job breaking tough news to us, but you do it with grace and comfort...
Margy it is good to see you are feeling better. All that yelling. LOL
Jo you know you will be in our prayers. Get well quickly.
Deb I was hot on the bus also.
Gotcha, Ceil, I only remember hearing about Jo sweating so.
So sorry to hear the news about Jo....well-wishes going out with hugs and love. Hope she beats it quickly!
I was hot on the bus, too!!! I didn't really think that Jo's cough sounded any worse that day than normal. Lynn, I kept suggesting that she go lay down for a while, but she whined and pouted and said she was OK and having a good time:) Gotta love her!

There is a lady on the snowman cam Changing the gooses clothes to rain gear.
Hidey sure is getting close to the edge.
Well it's taken me two hours to find my get up and go and head out the door....
think some sunshine and Vitamins D and K will go a long way (I think those two come from sunshine...)
You folks, hope you enjoy the day and see/feel/hear/smell/taste and imagine, some of your favorite things!
Jim You are the Hummingbird Man! Thanks for keeping us updated on that nest...
xo
OMG it is standing on the side. We need to bring the OK eaglet here to keep Hidey company
Ok, enough is enough and too much gets nasty. Jo has had more than enough now. Love you Jo!
Maybe Hidey thinks we need some excitement in our lives. She sure is making my heart pump a little harder and faster.
I agree Sharon. It moved back and then it does look cute looking over its world. Saying I am going to be out there soon. Flying like mom and dad
Got to get ready for Mass. BBL
Jo will put your name in the prayer book. You also Margy.
lol....that eaglet likes to take chances..
Good PM Everyone. Have not been on here for a couple days & just looked back to learn of Mema Jo. Good grief!!! She seemed fine here on TU, except for warm on the bus tour, but it is stuffy in there. Loretta, I am so sorry about Perry. I am glad he enjoyed his wedding last Saturday and that you all got to share it with him. Prayers for you and all of Perry's family and friends.
I am loving this eagle. Does anyone know how old he/she is? I've been watching for 3 weeks..
Hidey is 6 weeks old today!
Welcome, harlowe, it is very easy to get attached to the Eagles.
Our eaglet, "Hidey, Miracle, etc" hatched on Mar. 14.
Welcome aboard!

'Golden Girls' Star Bea Arthur Dies At 86

and who won a Tony Award for the musical "Mame," died Saturday. She was 86.
didn't realize she was that old....
adult in nest
Adult, our nest. It brought something, but I don't know what yet.
BWE update...
Nest Update
04/25/09:
Technical note:
We see the cams have been stopping; we think the issue has been fixed.
The OK eaglet is spread out with one leg sticking out.
I must have been seeing things, I don't see anything in the nest.
thought I saw something then adult moved and saw nothing
poof adult
Too bad about Bea Arthur. Last time I saw her, the age was really showing. She was sure a good actress.
Golden Girls Show reminds me of GeeGee describing herself after she had her stroke. She said,"Have you noticed that I walk like Estelle Getty on Golden Girls? I have the Getty Shuffle"!
I liked her, too, Lynn, I hadn't seen the news.
Lolly, we (Redskins) got your Longhorn Orakpo (sp?) in the NFL draft today! Due in at Redskins Park on Monday.
It has been awhile since Dana popped in, hasn't it?
Temps are record-breaking in some areas around here. Possible thunderstorms brewing....hopefully to cool it off! 94 still here.
Yes, Deb, it has. She's been having a lot of trouble with her back and leg. Sent her a card Th., but she hasn't opened it yet.
Just checked...no new thread. Steve must be having a busy weekend.
Bea Arthur died of cancer...spokesman declined to say any more.
Hidey, MOVE OVER! You're giving me gray hair!
Loretta so sorry to hear about Perry. I was thinking of you before and wondering where you were. So glad the wedding was last week. Condolances to you and your family.
Hidey has been wondering the nest, checking out the world around the nest. She is peeping, I wonder if one of the adult is near by.
Carol, you get more used to them being close to the edge the older they get. Next comes using their wings whenever it is windy out, that makes nest watching exciting.
Hi all! Peeking in really quickly to see what is going on, First thing Hidey did was scare me, Never have seen him that close to the edge. Yikes!
Loretta, so very sorry about your BIL. It is so very neat that he was able to really enjoy last Saturday.
SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT JO!!! PRAYERS FOR A QUICK RECOVERY. Don't like it when a momster is sick!! There's too many holes in the blog recently.
My but Hidey thinks he is all grown up sitting so tall like that.
Parent flew in by the mic.
think someone just landed on a lower branch nearby
she keeps looking up.
little thunder near us, but no rain
Wanda, hope you are catching Il Divo on Streisands' concert on Ch. 9!!!
We are supposed to get rain, I sure hope we do. It is very dry in this corner of the state.
I wonder when Hidey ate last. I haven't watched steady enough to know.
I was wondering the same thing Deb, have not seen any food at all when I have looked in today
Hello all....been out enjoying the beautiful weather today and had to check on Hidey. When I first looked in I thought it was Liberty or Belle in front of the camera and then looked again and it was Hidey. He/she is growing so much. Now all alone in the nest.
It even looks like Hidey's head is tucked under a wing tonight.
Hi, Sara.
just looked at the boardwalk in Ocean City Maryland...looks like it is July
Sara, I hate to be forgetful, but that IS a barred owl on your avatar right?
Did you catch our comments about Greg at Patuxent calling in the barred owl? Paula has a video on the EM Blog...holler if you can't find it..!
It was, literally, a HOOT !
Saw something this afternoon I had pleasantly forgotten all about for at least ten months:
( a tick )
I haven't seen one yet, Margy, but they are warning everyone to really be careful this year. They are supposed to be really bad here.
Thanks for mentioning ticks, I had been meaning to treat the dogs. Now that is taken care of.
Did you recently get a email about how to get rid of a tick on your skin?
I saw my first one yesterday. For the second year in a row....it was crawling on the extension cord I use for the leaf blower....don't know whether it's the orange that attracts them, or the electric current flowing through it. I tend to think it's the latter, as I and many others have also experienced ants that are attracted to electrical outlet boxes!!
I thought it was very interesting. Soak a cotton ball in liquid soap. Hold it on the tick for several minutes and when you remove the cotton ball the tick is supposed to come off, stuck to the cotton ball.
No, Lolly...is there something new???
Margy, I saw something in Journal Junction about the PBS thing....wonder what gives!? Do you have Comcast? Maybe you should switch to Verizon FIOS.
If anyone gets the National Geographic channel.....tomorrow night is "Waking the Baby Mammoth" show....sounds quite fascinating.
I wonder if it works. I always just use tweezers and pull it out slowly, so you get it all. I hate those things, gross! Bugs, spiders, ick!
Interest, Lolly.....guess the soap makes it withdraw head, and it's legs get caught in the cotton! Worth a try, for sure. Just always wash site good afterwards with soap and water and apply antiseptic and antibiotic ointmt.
good night everyone...rest easy:)
Woof! I totally do not like Ticks!
And I come from a very freckled family so sometimes....it can be tricky checking for them!
any tips hints ideas solutions MOST WELCOME especially before any Spring/Summer Nest Visits!
(Remember last year...ugh! )
xoxo
Yes Hedgie I saw the comment in Junction, checked it out and was aghast...I don't remember getting any notice. :(
Good Night, Mits...
Best wishes for restful sleep for you too...xoxo
Some of you were mentioning high temperatures earlier...well, at Back Creek this afternoon, three adult women, and 5 children were swimming and having a great old time. Also, three area residents were there wading with their two dogs, a border collie, "Angus" nearly blind, and wonderful Beagle named "Hudson."

I did a little experimenting and have opened up a new blog link, called Wildflowers in West Virginia. I still need to study and work on what I am doing, but there are few pictures on there from this afternoon.

Hey Lynn, we turned on our AC today. Will turn it off shortly. It got up into the upper 80's and humid.
I will forward to Eaglet Momsters....the article I received about ticks.
I am off to bed, Night everyone.
Just saw on the weather that storms are headed towards the OK nest. Major hail as well. Concern for the eagles!
