I am sooooo glad that they are doing this to give Mei a more quiet setting.......
Visiting the pandas? You can see the Zoo's male pandas outside from early morning until 3 p.m. each day. The Panda House will be closed until further notice. We don't know whether Mei Xiang is pregnant but due to her her early estrus and the Zoo's large spring crowds, Zoo staff made this decision to give her a quiet environment. Thanks for your understanding.
The noise level is awful....no need for the screaming and yelling to be going on, I know San Diego does not let its visitors to pandas do all that yelling
It is so exciting that our Sharp-eyed Paula saw that first egg at BWO! Now, an Osprey on the nest all night tonight! I could tell Paula was getting a sneakin' feeling in her comments leading up to the Egg Sighting! A great way to kick off the week-end.
I just saw one of the adults fly under the nest, apparently to another tree branch, and after about a minute, they're now in the nest with Hidey. The flight pattern was from upper right to lower left corner. Question: what does the tree look like? How many branches are above and below the nest? Just curious.
Is there a way to tell the adult eagles apart when they're not on the nest together? I think that's Belle there now, but not certain. Sometimes the camera causes a 'fun house effect' and they appear to change size as they move around. OH! Now Liberty is there on the nest, too! Made a slight adjustment to the furniture, and now he's gone again. That IS Belle!
Lisa just sent me this: "I think it might be delayed incubation -- she's back now. I remember last year they were off the first egg for a while and we got all excited, but then the incubation was more constant when the second egg arrived"
Hello! I am new here on the blog but have been enjoying the eaglet's adventure for several weeks. Can some one, however, tell me if what I am seeing at the Palmetto Osprey site is normal?? Looks like an adult is down and bloody - no movement at all. Am I seeing things? I haven't gotten a response from taht blog site. Thank you. Melanie in Oregon
Heart failure. Melanie, the red is from the sun, that happens every night. It looks like the cam is stuck, since it should be dark there. The cam is in Hilton Head, SC.
Hi all! Late getting on. Worked in the yard til late and then we ate dinner on the patio. After dinner we just sat and enjoyed the evening. Such a pleasant time of year. Everything is green and it is not terribly hot.
So excited for BWO! I know Lisa is celebrating!
Went right to the snowman cam. Want to see that bear again. I could not believe it when I saw him last fall.
Phew! Thank you, Deb. Didn't mean to scare anyone - I was just very concerned and couldn't figure out what I was looking at. I knew it was dark back Eask, but my computer continues to behave like the cam is refreshing. The chicks are adorable and after having found Hidey's cam and the RTH cam in Portland, and the 3 eaglets banded yesterday, my coworkers and I are now hooked! Beautiful birds, all. Mel
Oh! That would be wonderful to access that cam. We see a lot of hawks here in the Rouge River Valley, So. Oregon, but I've never seen an eagle here in Oregon. Thank you. Mel
There is one egg there. The poor eagles had about 1-2 weeks of incubating in snow, they always looked so cold. They have names, I'll have to see if I can find them, I don't remember what they are.
Oregon Oregon's breeding bald eagle population increased from 20 pairs in 1971 to about 500 in 2007 (5, 146). Eagles now nest in 32 of 36 counties and are especially common at Upper Klamath Lake, along the Columbia River below Portland, at Crane Prairie and at Wickiup Reservoir (136).
We use a lot of abbreviations here, so make sure and ask if you have questions. We have been trying to post links, since we have had a lot of new people on in the last few weeks. Sometimes, though, we get going to fast.
Thank you, Deb for the site info and the history. Have dialed into the Deschutes cam - magnficient scenery. Lady O and Cascade it is. We are now hopefully out of the "snow season".. seems to last longer into the first quarter of the New Year each year. Weather trying to warm up the past few days, but now we are back to frost at night and windy during the day. Should be warm, though, for birth of the new eaglet. Thank you again for your assistance. I'll check all the cams tomorrow and hopefully I'll be able to make better sense out of what I am seeing in the Osprey nest. Good evening, all. Mel
Deb, when I clicked on the Oregon nest, I got the message that it is not a trusted site and it was recommended to close that page. I guess it is a cam you watch regularly and there have been no problems?
Yes, we have watched it for a few years now, Lolly. Last year there was some sort of territory fight, then a snow storm and they abandoned the nest. It is nice to see they are doing well this year.
I finally had a moment to get on here and now it's bedtime:(. Just wanted to tell you that my photos of the Road Trip will be delayed a little longer. I had a slide show on my blog, of Gene's photos and accidently deleted it, now I can't get it back. Will work on it in the morning.
Sending out a call for Jo and Dana....hope you are both NOT SICK! Wishing you both a good night and hoping to see you tomorrow. Many MIA momsters and dadsters...Dave? Red? Vicki? Wishing you all well, too.
MORNIN' PAULA!---I guess I am not with the program this am either!!------Well!---BIG BIRD was seeking food earlier this am---She grows over night!!!---and isn't she the independent one too!!!!

Good morning, everyone! Boy, look at Hidey exercise those wings! Caught a poop shoot a few seconds ago, too. Doesn't she look grown up today? I was enjoying the mockingbird concert a few minutes ago. Haven't heard ours here at home yet. Hope the hawks haven't caught him!...Nope, there he goes. Guess he waited till after daylight to sing.
Hidey sure is getting herself all prettied up! Paula eagleholic, did you say this is Hidey's 6 week birthday? Well then, Happy Birthday, Hidey!:o]...Gotta go for now; going to my niece's baby shower/brunch. Have a few things to do first, but will check back in when I get home. Have a great Saturday, everybody!
Hi, Deb, Lucky you-- I've been up and about for four and a half hours already! Anybody know any good remedies for insomnia? This is getting really old really fast! I think I must be stuck in the wrong time zone.
Good morning, Deb! Got to bed earlier last night and up earlier this morning. Have been going through all the cams. Have not done that for a while. Takes a while.
Chance of showers here today, but tomorrow through Tues is supposed to be a major rain event. That would be great! Not only do we need rain, my house needs me indoors. Afraid I neglect house cleaning duties in favor of working outdoors.
Norma, you know what I really need to do? Clean my closet! I have clothes that too big. Hee Hee! Also, I am finding clothes I have not worn for a while that fit!
Threw one pair of rayon capris in the dryer trying to shrink them. LOL It is wonderful!
Good morning, Lolly! Thanks, normabyrd, I'll try that tonight. I usually watch TV till I fall asleep, but just woke up early today. I'll catch a nap this afternoon, most likely. Well, gotta go now, darn it! Have to do a bit of housework before the baby shower/brunch. Catch you guys a bit later. Have a super day!
Morning, gang. Late start here. Ended up being up late last night....phone calls from across the country...so overslept this morning. Good morning everyone! Been busy busy at work but had to check on all the babies. What in the world is the lunch buffet at the sutton center nest..looks "feathery"
Hi all! I have a fear of heignhts...would someone please tell that big little eagle of ours to get away from the edge? I mean, like a poop shoot is okay, but standing there and lookig out or over or down is just TOO MUCH!
We sit here and worry and the eaglet is enjoying the view! I would think that the nests with more than one chick is where most of the falls from nest happen. One eaglet bumping anothre out.
Is that a feather next to Hidey blowing in the wind?
think it was a coot then, Deb....yes more of a chance of falling with more chicks, or some prey like out in CA last year that knocked them out of the nest, but know that L&B are really close to the nest, even though you can't see and hear them.

Keep your fingers crossed for a good season at BWO....they're due!
Gonna go play outside with the dogs!
You are right Paula. They are due for a good season. Congrats to BWO and Lisa.
Hidey is now looking for food and I think it has found some old leftovers.

Sounds like a good idea. It can get very loud when bus loads of children get together.

well looks like Hidey is going to look for her own food in the nest
nice wingercises
So, that's really our Eaglet in the nest? Are you all sure someone did not switch babies when I was out of commission these last couple of days?
What a difference a few days and a bunch of fish makes !
Glad to hear that they made that decision, Mits. Let Mama Mei have her pesce and quiet.
I know Margy, turned it on one time today thought it was an adult.
Hi Margy. How are you feeling? Hope a little better.
Me too Mits! I thought it was Belle leaning over cleaning the nest or something.
Hidey is really enjoying flexing those wings this evening! So, heart failure will surely cure whatever I'm taking medicine for.
xo
Eaglet at Sutton looks he has been rolling around in dryer lint!
Making a comeback, Ceil - thanks...
You can't keep a good woman down.
( You're kind, Ceil ! )

Holey Moley, that little old unhatched egg is visible again at Sutton :(
I just saw one of the adults fly under the nest, apparently to another tree branch, and after about a minute, they're now in the nest with Hidey. That was Belle that just left...Lib is on the back.
He is lighter in color and smaller than Belle. That's about the only way to tell. Sometimes it's a real crap shoot!
You can also tell by their habits sometimes. Lib likes to perch at the back of the nest
Ms. Bookworm, Mema Jo has a picture of the tree as her avatar, I'll find it for you.
I'll direct you to some pics of the nest in a moment
Paula, do you have tree pictures handy?
Belle is back...
Also, you can se more of Lib's tail than Belle's tail
Here's pics from last years visit - more of the whole tree in the second half of the pictures
June 7th visit
And Jo's pic is on my webpage...

Thanks! I appreciate the info. Very helpful! :o]
egg in view at BWO
No Problem!
And Hakuna Matata!!!
LOL, heard that today, just had to throw that in there too.
Thanks, I figured you would have them. Jo hasn't been on today, unless I missed her. She had chills last night, so I hope she is feeling okay.
Wowwee,,sure can see that egg good now!
Egg showing at BWO!
geshundteit, Paula.
I see Mits already said that. :)
I emailed Jo, have not heard from her;(
that's ok Deb:)
That BWO nest looks pretty darn good considering that was a completely empty box!
And been enough HP there, should be about a dozen eggs ;O
I think they have it just they way that they want it, stream-lined, not cluttered
Osprey off the nest at BWO!!
Awww, hope Jo isn't too sick...
Opsrey back
Parent at BWE
Osprey gone again from BWO.
Osprey off the nest again.
Looks like parent spending the night at BWE
You can see the Wildwatch Osprey egg now, too.
That was laid today, too, I think.
I saw your post earlier, so I checked and found them incubating.
BWO still off the nest...wonder if osprey is perched on the cam?
Just checking in. What's going on at BWO? This is concerning.
BWO in nest now...egg showing! Maybe she's antsy because she's getting ready to lay another!?!?
There we go, back again. What's the weather like at BWO? if it is warmer, the egg should be okay uncovered for awhile.
Lisa just sent me this: "I think it might be delayed incubation -- she's back now. I remember last year they were off the first egg for a while and we got all excited, but then the incubation was more constant when the second egg arrived"
Or maybe she got the egg too hot. It's been a warm one in the sun today.
That would be really quick for laying, there is usually 1-2 days between eggs. It could be inexperience, since this is a new couple?
Yeah, Lisa! Thanks, Bob, for posting her answer.

She's settled back down now. Good girl.
The bear has been coming to the Snowman cam already. I just read that they are waiting for its nightly visit.
TH and WE chicks are really getting big too....so are Caltrans triplets!

At least, I am pretty sure that is what we are seeing. Sometimes the setting sun is so bad, the whole nest is red.
I watch that nest a lot, but was gone all day and hadn't check it.
Lolly, it sounds like it is late tonight, just our luck it won't show up.
Snowmancam

BEAR!!
It just went behind the snowman.
I see that Bear....
still visible on the "yellow still" but I just a tail flick on the other feed
I hope Lolly checks, she was wanting to see the bear again.
Are you feeling better, Margy?
You can just "bearly" see him!
Bear is ooching its way out a little
Bear is sitting down.
Then up on hind legs, now walking like a bear again.
I'm dozing off...gonna hit the hay...going to Mom's over the weekend...will check in tom morning...
Oh Man just up on its hind legs -
Yes, Deb...better by the hour, thanks.
Good one, Lolly, glad you caught him!
Did you see him stand on his hind legs?>
When I was watching last fall a bear stuck his nose right up to the cam. Cool!
Wonder what is keeping his interest behind the snowman?
Good question, Lolly, doesn't he know we want to see him ???
On the blog they said it tore down a feeder, I wonder if that is where it is?
I am tired, so going start winding down and read a little. Night everyone.
How exciting...a BEAR!
do you think that he is dreaming of flying? he stretches out one wing .-maybe it is growing pains.. .
Nite, Deb.
Bear is still on still cam with every refresh, in one position or another...but not showing at all on live stream....????
I finally had a moment to get on here and now it's bedtime:(.
Just wanted to tell you that my photos of the Road Trip will be delayed a little longer. I had a slide show on my blog, of Gene's photos and accidently deleted it, now I can't get it back.
Will work on it in the morning.
Did you see the games you can play while watching the snowman cam? LOL That is what I have been doing. Crazy!
G'night Paula and Deb.
Hey, Wanda! Let's tell Margy it's time to get back in bed!!
Wanda, now there's a picture blog cop, huh?? Bummer! Know you'll get them back on...no rush! Did you post them to the yahoo album, too?
Margy, just because you are feeling better, doesn't mean you can stay up all night...It's bedtime!
No, I didn't post them to Yahoo Album...Blogger photo cop was not responsible...just a dumb move on my part:(
Sending out a call for Jo and Dana....hope you are both NOT SICK! Wishing you both a good night and hoping to see you tomorrow.
Many MIA momsters and dadsters...Dave? Red? Vicki? Wishing you all well, too.
Good Night, Deb
Good to see you back Wanda,
that bear is giving us the slip
Yes, Mothers....I am headed for the pillows (again, for the 50th time in two days! )
Good Night, Hedgie, Wanda, Lolly, mgmccfolkart, and everyone still up and about..xox
Soon as I posted I saw the bear on all fours, now where is he ?
Lolly, didn't notice games....but was looking at some of their blogger chat.....strange! Of course, we've commented on thst before!
I think he want high-tailing past the goose and out of sight
Nite Margy. Hope you have a good nite's sleep and wake up feeling much better in the morning!
Have the house open and can smell a black and white kitty. Glad my black and white domestic cat is in the house!
I think the bear is still behind the snowman. Just saw a little movement.

And back again at WW
Hi Lolly - slept okay, just can't shake the cough !
Thanks...
Windy again at OK. Another bad feather day!
The cough can linger for a while! Even when you are feeling much better! And, I am sure that is rough for your line of work.

We sit here and worry and the eaglet is enjoying the view! I would think that the nests with more than one chick is where most of the falls from nest happen. One eaglet bumping anothre out.
Is that a feather next to Hidey blowing in the wind?
I missed whatever was in the OK nest. If it was black with just a little white on the face, that would be a Coot.
I now think it is a leaf next to Hidey.
think it was a coot then, Deb....yes more of a chance of falling with more chicks, or some prey like out in CA last year that knocked them out of the nest, but know that L&B are really close to the nest, even though you can't see and hear them.
yes, it is from the tree they brought in the other day:)
SPLIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
