Three tornadoes ripped through Virginia on Monday, with one hop-scotching across the southeastern part of the state and leaving behind a 25-mile trail of smashed homes, tossed cars and more than 200 injured residents. Nest in Norfolk seems fine,cam is up and running.

Morning, all. Wanda, those "pixels" are a bug, right in the middle of the web and cam pic. Before it gets daylight, the IR reflects on that darn thing, and that's the only thing you can see! Need to get a big broom up there and knock that web down.
I lost Scotland. Can anybody get it?
SUZ, I know about the bug, but right now, I have a group of pixels right where the chicks are. Turned Real Player off to see if they would go away and lost my Feed. I give up.

Welcome to a slightly damp new instalment of the osprey diary! After a fantastic weekend the weather has become, to use the Scottish phrase, “a wee bit dreich”. It’s quite wet but the ospreys are coping fine.
We wish to thank everyone who has contacted us with concern that the female has not been fed but we can assure you all that the male is bringing in fish. He does tend to bring meals in at rather sporadic intervals, but this is entirely natural. To a two-foot tall bird a good-sized trout goes a long way.
Despite being exposed to the elements in the nest, the pair is looking well and healthy and they are doing a grand job of taking care of their eggs. We are now reaching the half-way point, so hopefully it won’t be long until we are hearing the pitter-patter of tiny talons… or at least the chirping of three very hungry little ospreys!

I am making progress processing my pictures. I took over 1500 pictures, so it is going to take a long time to get through them. I will send out a favorite later today. I went to a Birds of Prey workshop and had a blast. I got to spend about 1 1/2 hours within 10 feet of the bald eagle that Wildlife Experiences has. I am having trouble deciding which ones are the ones to keep. I have pictures of a tawny owl, peregrine falcon, gyrfalcon, red-tailed hawk, harris hawk, Eurasian eagle owl, screech owl and the eagle. On top of that, I have pictures of Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and the Badlands.

DEB, you are much worse than I with your picture taking. I took 600+ photos and thought that was a lot! I'm anxious to see the "Eagle Owl"...never heard of it. Did they finally get Crazy Horse finished? The time that we were there, it wasn't completed and they wouldn't let us near it. Hurry!
The face on Crazy Horse is done and they are stating on the horse now. I don't think we will ever see the finished product in our lifetime. They won't take government money, which would make the project go faster. There philosophy is that the tax payer shouldn't be paying for it, only people who are interested in it.
OUr kids are resting in the nice warm sunshine....the breeze today is cool.
Hot Darn! The wind has blown away that bug! I can see clearly now!!

Well, Paula, basically it's a beautiful, rehumidified 69° right now in So Cal.
Earlier the forecast was for it to top out at 69, but they updated it to 79° with normal on-shore winds today.
Tomorrow is supposed to cool down to about 70, but we'll see what they have writ down tomorrow. Hahaha.

Good morning, world. Chilly out, 38° in PA, 41° here in VA. Brrr, after being so nice. Had to bring my tomatoes in again last night. Poor things, they're never gonna get any sun!
How very cool! Somebody got up to the nest with a long broom! Spidey's web is gone, along with his treats!!! Belle is in the nest with the babies, sleeping at 5 o'clock, and the kids are pretty much in the center of the nest all snuggled together. How very nice to see the nest at this hour again! Ok, I'm a happy camper this morning!
BW kids are sound asleep, osprey on eggs, can't get on 2nd Finland nest again, but jackdaw on her 5 eggs. Both ospreys are in Finney's nest. All have a great eagle/panda day. Eyes to the sky, see the raptors fly! Good grief, they're talking about ice cream here now. Makes me want some for breakfast!!! Course I could eat ice cream at any time of the day or night, so breakfast seems good to me.
Whoa, here comes spidey. Guess he didn't like his web destroyed. Bummer. Now he needs to move, that's just too gross first thing in the morning. Besides, nervy thing, blocking Belle. Who does he think he is????

Here's hoping this will post. My computer hung up a while ago and had to hit the emergency off switch to shut it down! (Pull electrical plug outta computer, works every time.) So at the moment, nothing open but blog and our nest. Let's see if the shutdown helped speed this up a bit.

Hello Wanda- sometimes when I refresh the page, I see the sun moving. Other times it is just a still pic. Only you and Gene know if you had too many eagle talons last night..lol....
