That is the 1st I've seen the WE cam zoom in to the nest area. That is a pretty long distance to zoom...
Hopefully the gorillas will come back into cam range momentarily.......
most of the Asian Trail are using the PZT cams, and if no one is there operating them, you might not see them again til they move into view, but someone was manning them a little while ago, don't have too many volunteers to do them yet

Good Afternoon, Mits I have to laugh at you. I have been cleaning my bedroom closet since 8:00 this morning. I swear I'm not watching that channel any more. I started to unpack and figured my closet was too messy and I could find anything. Its a good thing I'm not married and have to share it.

Norma, the sloth bears are more fun to watch then the pandas, have alot more personality and like to interact with the visitors, pandas are really full of themselves, like some humans. The cloudeds are so beautiful, the other day when I was at the zoo and watching them on the cam, Tai came up to Mook and was nuzzling her, and she nuzzled him back. They are hoping for a baby cluded from these two, but so far, no luck.

Norma, Tai and Mook are the clouded leopards, Merlin and Hanna are the sloth adults, and Bala is the sloth cub. There is no plan right now to get the sloth bears together again, Bala will be 2 in January.
Yup, Norma, she has taken to wandering all over that ledge, now that she has found her "feet"

Today's Raptor Report
As I was driving home from work, going up Rt 15, I saw an adult bald eagle soaring over the road. I was headed north and he was headed south, right over me! It was about 50-75ft above the road...I looked, and then I had to look again! There was no mistaking it!
Jo and Suz - You will know where I am talking about...right past Mr Naturals, right before Lewistown and the 7-11 that sits next to the road!
Our nest looks perfect...great time for a visit!!
BW is still stuck on the eagle pic.
And Clemson is whooping Maryland's butt...again!!

I was driving out to the mall and could have sworn I saw and immature eagle. Guess it isn't too far fetched since it was only about 4 blocks from the quarry. By the time I got turned around, it had disappeared somewhere.

I couldn't pull over, cause there was a small overpass over a creek and then an intersection, then it was too late!
I usually see Ewwiiess - first time I've ever seen one flying in Frederick county, although I know others have.
Jill i would not be a bit surprised not last year but the year before i was walking out my back door and there was eagles flying in the sky would have been towards airport road... I know Jo remembers that... I about crapped my pants and called Jo right away... If i rememebr i had just came home from the nest also or maybe it was after the kids fledged that year...

Mits i recently cleaned and organized my kitchen cabinets too.. I was amazed to find i had like 5 bottles of ground cinnomon and atleast 4 bottle of Garlic salt... Then i have 1 drawer in frig i kept like little pacs of thsi n that you get from getting take out... Ketchups,,, MAYO... CHINESE... out it went in the trash...
same here, Nilla, because I can't see or remember I have it, I just go out and buy more, and not going to do that anymore, because now I can see what I have.....just read the update from one of Mei Shengs keeper at SD, brings a tear to my eye for them, they are really going to miss him, don't want to think of Tai leaving, but I know it is for the good of the species that he must return to Chins, and he will do great.
I have thought about that also when Tai goes.. i wonder if they sedate them for the trip??? I know when i took Tinker to Florida i went to vets and got some Acepromo to keep her calm.... Will be a very sad day when he leaves for sure... I do want to get back down to see him once again since its cooler...
Crazy Emeril is having a Halloween show and he is dressed as a doctor and eevryone in audience has costume on too... Speaking of costume our Wanda must be really busy making loads of money seeling hers at store...

I got to watch afew of the Meerkat Manor shows today and went to Animal Planet page and read about how Flower died...She got biten by a big snake...nothing could have saved her and they would not intervene to save her.... sad and them Kinkachew died on a show also... We get attched to those animals ... Watched it since it started few seasons back...
Like the one in SD he will be prepared, as for noise, can't get any noisier than an urban zoo like DC, especially now that they are building the new elephant exhibit
Oh yes your right i forgot about that going on and remember its right across from the Pandas... By the way when we went to Florida and to Animal Kingdom i saw the giraffe from DC zoo they took that day i came down... That was what the man driving the truck said when telling us about the animals...
Nilla, I have my own tootsie rolls. Love the flavored ones too. ONly time you can get them and then you have to buy them in a pack with a bunch of other stuff, I give that out at Halloween. We usually have Tootsie rolls at work to get us through the night with no food. Life sustaining Tootsie Rolls.
You know which quarry I am talking about? The one at Kentucky and Martin.
Anytime you want to go to the zoo, let me know. I love the zoo. Almost went last Thursday when we were in Rockville for teh soccer game but it started to rain so we left.

The National Zoo put out a DVD called "Meet the Pandas: Washington's New Power Couple," and it showed Mei Xiang and Tian Tian being brought over from China.
The plane was a special plane set up just for the pandas, and they kept them in roomy cages and fed them treats during the flight. They didn't sedate them because the flight is so long. But they had keepers in the cargo area to make sure the pandas were okay.
It's a long flight so the bears were eating and sleeping a lot, and that's about it.
They both seemed to do well even though the plane was a totally new experience for them.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE that is correct Lisa, they never sedate any of the animals at the zoo unless, it is absolutely necessary. I saw that show on animal planet, Lisa Stevens and Brenda made the trip to bring them here. Half of the time of a pandas day is spent either eating or sleeping.It is hard to believe that Mei and Tian have been here since December 2000.
Good Morning all, its still dark here. My internal alarm goes off even if I dont want it to. I had to reset my pass word. It wont let me in this morning either.
Wanda I forgot to tell you that I wore your necklace to the train and I got bomb barded with requests to either give it to them or tell them where I got it. One lady I'm sure would have taken it away from me if she could have. It was funny. You could easy sell them at the gift shop for quite a profit. There are plenty of eagle people that feel as we do.

The nights are good for sleeping and the days warm. the trees are just starting to change, We get fall here but not the dramatic colors you do. Not even in the foothills. I would love to get hold of one of those Virginia Sugar Maples I saw. I wonder what it would do here? I will finish today too. I still have quite a bit to do.

Already this morning, after I opened my nestcam sites, Explorer "encountered a problem and shut down"...twice in quick succession. So, I deleted everything possible having to do with Real Player (which seems to be involved in the conflict), restarted my computer, and downloaded a new version of Real Player...restarted the computer again.
Took a deep breath and opened all my camsites again, and not long later Explorer "encountered a problem and had to shut down!!"
Explorer is "very sorry" though.
So, here I am again.............

It seems Adobe owns both the flash player and Real Player now, and maybe they are relying on common files too much. So when I open Petes Pond and the SD Panda at the same time they conflict with each other...one uses Real and the other uses flash player.
???? Just one possibility. I already searched MS data, but maybe I should contact Adobe.

There isn't one cloud in the bright blue sky above Seneca Rock - really beautiful. I had the doors & windows opened - but when the sun goes in it is down right cold.... Closed up the house and had to get my sweater!
I started to view those AUSSIE videos ... they progress backwards in time, probably because they're in the southern hemisphere.

I'm not sure, Wanda! There was always a plant on the ledge last year - But I can't believe we didn't see it until now except maybe because of the camera's view just not picking it up until now.

Last years Frieda had laid her eggs very close to the vegetation, and they were hatched there also, just haven't seen it because these guys have been on either side os the ledge, not much in the middlew like previous years...
ours should be coming in for a visit soon, goin got fix dinner now.
