We recently held a meeting here at NCTC to discuss new plans for this year's eagle cam. We are fortunate to have a new staff member on board who previously worked for a company that sells webcams for use with wildlife, so our expertise in this area just took a huge step forward.
We should have a game plan for what we plan to do this winter, and when we have some decisions , I'll post them here. Some ideas includ: multiple cams, robotic cam that can be controlled remotely (moved), and audio so we can hear what's going on.
Can't say how this will settle out just yet, but we are excited for a new nesting season, assuming our pair comes back, which we ceretainly anticipate.

Yes Norma opening it in Real Player works fine. You might find if you double click that little movie it goes Full screen.
OR right click and choose Full screen theatre. To get out of it, hit Esc tab on your computer. Mine is upper left hand corner. Find escape FIRST or you could bein the Theatre forever,
You can also drag click and hold the bottom right hand corner and make it as big as you want.

Click there It will pop up some choices..
.Choose my Videos..
.then you will see screen that says Save attachment as.
Give it a name in the first line.
Anything like ya know Baby panda etc Hit save, and you will have it in your video.
You can do the same thing when people send pictures except you choose My Pictures instead of My Videos.

Hello from rainy Shepherdstown. Just wanted to clear up any misunderstanding about my post last night. I lurked for a long time, and I always suspected that that particular Anon was a lurker, not a regular--just wanted to make it clear that it wasn't this lurker. I don't understand what's going on with Mei and Tai--those chutes are so confusing. Good luck to everybody's teams--especially Shepherd and WVU! It's raining very hard at the Ryder Cup in Ireland--don't know if the English ladies are affected.

SANDRAFROMSHEPERDSTOWN, the chutes that Mei and Tai are in the past fews days lead to the new Fuji Film Asian Habitit, that Mei, Tian and Tai will be moving to in a few weeks, they just pratice with them going thru the chutes, so when the time comes, to move, it will not be so scary for them. Hope that clears your confusion.
If you go to the front page of the pandas, go to the left side and click on Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat, it shows the outside exhibit, it will be state of the art for them, can't wait for the big move!

They just trimmed all the trees to look like something from "Broom Hilda," trimmed the hedges and lawns, AND they installed all new, energy-efficient, antique looking light fixtures in the area.

Yes, GLO, We pay China, one million dollars a year to have the pandas here, San Diego, Memphis and Atlanta., with the promise that any offspring born heads back to China at 2 yrs of age to help them produce more pandas.
With that said, GLO The National Zoo in Washington, did have Ling-Ling and Shing-Shing here until the late 1990's when they passed away after being here since the mid 70's. They produce cubs, but none survived passed a couple of days.

OK, as long as we are on the subject of tuna salad sandwiches....
I'm supposed to be eating more fish, for the good cholesterol, but less salt for the usual reasons; so I've been trying this and that...thought you might like to try a couple of things.
1) Replace salt AND pepper with 'Mrs. Dash,' which has beau coup spices (good) but no salt of any kind.
2) Replace salt with 'Morton's Salt Substitute'...just as good as the real thing.
3) The idea for today... Replace a glop of 'Miracle Whip' with a glop of ketchup whilst replacing salt and pepper with Mrs. Dash....
Result ... fairly interesting, so while I am eating it, I am placing a pinch (large) of crushed (mine were already crushed) 'Sun Chips' between the slices of whole grain bread for added 'crunchiness'... heavenly........
Wash it all down with a cool chug of 'Diet Coke.'

Wow that was so neat...I went into NU it was dark. Then I caught the sight of something "white" decided to stay awhile. It was an adult Eagle eating. Everything was dark of course except its head and feathers at tail ahh beautiful. It was like watching from a moon lite dark night. I watched for 7 mins. and 8 seconds don't know how long it was there before that. Then it flew up in tree. Oh that would have been beautiful in fraps.

Andrew is a very happy camper. He went to a friend's house to watch WVU and then was going to the Bluefield Barons game (semi-pro team here).
Concession stand was really slow. Not a big crowd at all. I am glad today is the day I volunteered to work cause it was so easy! :)

When you are at CT site, they have a little picture of a camera under the main window, you can just click on it and it takes a picture for you automatically, you don't have to save it...might help next time you see that white bird there.

Sharon that Adult Eagle tonight at NU was something to watch in the dark. It was neat. The white head and you could see the shadow effect of the body and then oh my those tail feathers showing up white. Especially when she/he bent over to pick up pieces of food to eat.
