Hi Shirley and Jo I just got to watch the video of the eagle release. It was fantastic. Ed Clark was so funny. Saw the one fly away and tears came to see such a magnificent bird. Wow.
Hi Wanda. Did you eat yet? We went out to dinner. I ate too much. Had a nice glass of wine. Waitress said I sounded like I needed a double. Told her I needed a triple Aww heck just bring the bottle.
Yes, Ceil, we finally ate Supper. It is still 86°. We just had Burgers and Hot Dogs and salad, so Gene didn't have to be standing over the grill very long:)
Whoops! I forgot to report on our Floralgirl Megan ! She was doing great and looked great! She was pleased that even though it was soooooo hot she did a good business today with the crowd! Told her I forgot to bring her a Smoothie from Mellow Moods but someone had already done so. Yepper! Her buckets were about empty! She has a canopy so it does afford her some shade.
BTW...we were talking about playing instruments a few evenings ago, and I said that my Dad used to strum the guitar when he was courting my Mother. I wondered if he sang to her, and I remembered to ask her today. She lit up like a Christmas tree and had all kind of tales to tell. She said he used to sing "If I Could Be With You One Hour Tonight", which must have been her favorite. Then she sang it to us. Such joy to hear her sing!:)
Megan is such a hard worker all year long, but standing in this heat is brutal. I have been there and done that. Use to sell Antiques and Collectibles at the Double Toll Gate Flea Market, between Winchester and Front Royal. It was a wonderful place to sell my goods, but after 10 years, I had go give it up. I worked it alone and there were times that the heat got to me so bad that I didn't think I would be able to drive home. Now that Gene is retired, I'd love to do that again, with his help. I enjoyed it so much in the Spring and Fall when the weather was nice.
Yes, Jo, she really brightened up and it really cheered me up to hear her talking about a time in her life when she was so young and carefree... (and in love)
Hello everyone, hope your weekend was better than mine. Went to Greenville, s c to see a new baby in the family. She is beautiful and healthy, mom is 42. We were worried. However the hotel reservation clerk put in something wrong, and they had us booked in another city hours away. They were totally booked, so we had to stay in a dump in another town. We piled furniture around the door in case anyone tried to break in. It was terrible. We had Talmadge, age2 with us and his mom. We were all so disappointed. Greenville is beautiful and has a river park running through the city.At least we got to see it today and had a safe trip home. God is good. Gwen
I picked this up from the I picked this comment up from the Haines page.
"This nest has a single camera overlooking it, and due to the network bandwidth costs in this part of Alaska we're only able to bring you still frames every few seconds. We're about to bring you created video at 10fps from our archives - watch for it."
Gwen I get most of my cams off Beakspeak. BWO is Blackwater Osprey Someone will give you the Finney nest. It is Saaski something like that It is on beakspeak under osprey Not much help am I.
Gwen - you might want to (if you already haven't done so) set up a Bookmark Folder titled CAMS or Eagles or anything you wish and save these url's in that folder for quick retrieval.
Sorry for your disappointing stay at the motel. You feel like being able to demand the hotel find you decent lodging! Happy to have you home safe & sound!
Temps have dropped somewhat - Now would be the time for Gene to grill! Lightening bugs are still around and my hummer was here yesterday even though my flowers of the spring/summer have about had it. I need to get some Mums in the flower pots. The crazy geranium is still blooming out front !
I am going to have to set up a bird cam folder, too, Jo. I have pushed my educational links down on the favorites list. Now that school has started, I will need to use those.
I did have a great time at my Uncle's 80th birthday party. No Ed did not go. He gets too tired too easily. Party was in VA at Skyline Resort. Nice place.
I know I said I'd see you all in the am and now it is evening. I was working till 3:30am then up early today also looking where to gets medications cheaper. Trying to find replacements for the Brand Names to talk to dr about for Ed and myself.
Evening All.Think the 3 hummers I saw today worked out a truce to visit the feeder at different times~~~~no more wars ☺ Gwen, what a bummer about motel. They should have definitely called to find you a room! Glad to hear Ms. Megan did OK today. Wanda, that is such a precious story about GeeGee & singing her song yet! Shirley, good luck at school. Of course the students won't be there yet.
Oh dear, Lynn, I did not see that. Is Millionaire on tonight?
We had a librarian from our rival high school in Culpeper County who won three times on Jeopardy. His wife is librarian at our school. She was really excited. You would not have known he was from Culpeper because they said he was from one of the New England states since he had lived there once.
Shirley, Giant is affiliated with Martins'---or vice versa!---and Martins' has been doing the gas thing for a number of years. Thanks for password, Jo---will look at pics now!
I think they should pay for your room at the other hotel. We had a problem with Holiday Inn once. We were on the way with our baby to visit my mother at Christmastime, and decided to spend the night on the way, so we picked a Holiday Inn.
The guy did not tell us we would be surrounded by high school football players and cheerleaders. If he had, we would have gone on. We spent the night listening to kids running along the walkways and got numerous phone calls all through the night. The next morning the coach banged on our door and yelled "Breakfast!" My husband opened the door and said,"NOBODY tells me when to eat breakfast!"
The motel guy said that he did not want to tell us there was "no room at the inn." All he needed to do was tell us the facts and let us decide what we wanted to do.
We got our money back when we wrote to corporate headquarters.
I was going to grill chicken, but just too hot! So I baked it in the oven, put some BBQ sauce on it and then broiled it....still tasty! Corn on the cob and sliced toms with it---I'm full!
Lynn, Just read back & see that Ken got home from hosp~~~Yippee! Dana, glad you had a good time at that great party--Best to Ed. Gonna see what's left to do in kitchen---boo
Dana, how old is Ed? Is he on Medicare yet?? There are SO MANY Part D plans, and you really do have to do your homework---it's a real pain. Went through that w/ my SIL, and now will have to pick one of them myself this fall...argh!!! Thank goodness, I only take one rx med!!!
Paula, so glad everything went well Friday and for the weekend.
Tell you what.....Camp Hawkwood has just started and I am worn out! Of course, it started out with me being up late last night. Boys are in bed and I have my feet up.
Nite Shirley...have a good week. It will certainly feel long, the first full week always does.
Nite Mits! Where are you home or beach? Jack and I are considering a short trip after school starts and we can get away. I would like to go back to the beach.
Hello again. I finished paying some bills. Always come up to my own computer to do that, so my personal business isn't on my work computer.
Paula, good to hear from you again. Glad to hear that the ceremony went well.
Lynn, my largest class has 24 students, so that's how many desks I need. One class, one of the dual enrollment classes has ll. That is going to be nice. I think the other one has 15. Not bad either. I don't remember what the other one was--somewhere between 11 and 24. The dual enrollment classes are supposed to be 80% writing for the college grade, so it is good they are smaller.
These students get both high school and college credit for their course.
Speaking of treasures from the former generation, I have my parents' college scrapbooks. My father's doesn't have a whole lot, but my mother's is chock full of all kinds of things including valentines and Christmas cards.
I also have a very formal written invitation from a young man--not my father--requesting the privilege of walking her home from church. It has a 2 cent stamp on it.
Paula glad you accomplished Mother's wishes. Happy you are home safe and sound. Yes they have been saying "beer" is good for the bones. Give them a year or two and they will be back saying it causes something other illness. So then it will be bad again for you tee hee
I don't have anything "pre Dad" of my Mom's from any men. I did find a nice poem she had, don't know if it related to my Dad or someone else. I'll have to recite it on here one night for ya'll.
Sounds as if everyone had a good weekend without any serious misfortunes.
Paula, so happy all went well and you are home. I did think about you and said a prayer from all of your eagle buddies.
Shirley, have a good first day of the first full week. Also, cardboard can be placed under the desk corners to slide the desk around.
Lolly, you have to explain camp Hawkwood to me, please. So cute about Gee Gee. What a lovely legacy she has for her family.
Glad Ken is home but sorry about the lousy digs Gwen.
Dana, very happy you enjoyed the birthday party but sorry Ed couldn't join you.
I'm sure I've overlooked some very important eagle momsters and dadsters. No offense. Just catching up. I think I need a G&T and a big spoonful of mustard.
I need to turn my light out now but will leave the night light on for others.
Hi, Everyone, It's pretty late back east, but just thought I'd jump on here and say goodnight. Never got back here this afternoon; too busy, and no chance. Paula, so glad everything went well for you and the family on Friday. BTW--re what you mentioned about cleaning the monitor, that's the story of my whole house at this point! Need to try to catch up this week when there's no school. Glad to hear that beer is good for your bones. Didn't think I liked it, but last summer found out I like Guinness. We went and saw a movie this afternoon--'The Time Traveler's Wife'. It was good, but a bit of a tear-jerker. Tonight one of the PBS channels here has been playing a Big Bands special while they try to raise funds. It's great to listen to those wonderful old songs! Well, I need to try to get some sleep--early alarm in the morning. Prayers for everyone (Lynn, so thankful Ken is out of the hospital! Thank you, Lord!) for all needs and for a good night's sleep. Will talk to you tomorrow. :o]
Yeah, I should do something to protect the floor or Annie will get me. She is the head custodian. You do not want Annie mad at you. She is a force to contend with! (I love Annie.)
Judie, Camp Hawkwood is the fun name we have given ourselves for this week. Laurel, our daughter, has inservice at her school all this week. The boys do not start until next week, so we are keeping them. We have something fun planned for each day. We have our Camp Hawkwood shirts made already. We did this last year, too.
Good to hear from Paula ☺ Lolly, sounds like fun and games at Camp Hawkwood! Put 2 bedtime pics of Finney's on blogspot. Just looked & one big foghorn is needed there now. Koo & sib were cuddled together.
Night all--early Reunion Comm. Mtg., so Pleasant Feather Dreams.
Hi, Paula. Glad you had a good weekend, and that everything went well Fri. Judie was passing by on her way to get groceries at the commissary! Judie, Hawkwood is the name of Lolly and Jack's "estate"!!!! Goodnight to all you fine fowl friends. TS Bill may be a hurricane by am! Hope our FL and east coast dwellers are ready to batten down the hatches. Sleep well. Prayers and peace.
I am home, late night tonight. The volunteers from Boise are headed home tomorrow so we had dinner tonight. Gabby took off today before 6:30 AM when the first spotter arrived, so no one knows which way Gabby flew. We looked all over today, but no sign of him. We hope he comes back tomorrow for some food.
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE... Jumping on here to wish Shirley and Judie a good and enjoyable school year. I hope you both will share your experiences, good and bad, with us as the year goes on. Looking forward to the "TALES FROM THE TEACHER" ;)
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO MITS AND JUBBY...GRANDPARENTS OF THE ADORABLE M&M SISTERS AND PARENTS OF A HANDSOME SON, KEVIN AND IN-LAWS TO A BEAUTIFUL D-I-L, ANNIE, WHO WILL SOON GIVE THEM A GRANDSON, BENJAMINE. WAHOO!
Good morning my fine and wonderful eagle and panda buds! Just how the heck are ya??? Doing well here at Granny Riffe's this morning, sun is coming up and it looks like it is going to be a beautiful day.
Sharon told ya'll Tom has to have his galbladder out tomorrow, didn't she? We are so grateful to have a problem to fix. Bluefield Regional was just the pits. Live and learn!
We had a great weekend at the lake and Tom's nephew's 38th birthday party, just a great time!!!
I saw the baby at San Diego pretty good this morning. Can't save pics from it or ya'll would have one this morning!!!
Hope everyone is well. Have a great day. Will be lurking while working. Holler if anything exciting happens!!
GOOD MORNING, Sissy, Margy, Deb and Shirley. Sissy, which hospital will Tom be going to?...Keep us updated on his surgery. Margy, have you been to bed yet, from you 12hr. shift? Deb, is your lawn boy still doing a good job?
He is going to be at Princeton Community Hospital. Supposed to be an outpatient surgery, home by the evening. We will see how that works out. When I had my gallbladder out in 1983 I had to be there a week, had a drain and all that fun stuff. Medicine sure has changed since then!!! Give Gene my love!!
GOOD MORNING EAGLE BUDDIES!---WELCOME HOME PAULA!!--HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MITS & JAY!!---MORNIN' & CONGRATS--SHIRLEY!--You are our #1 EAGLE MOM!--today & every day!-----MORNIN' SHIRLEY--WANDA--DEB--MARGIE & BEAUTIFUL SISSY!!!---Sending love & prayers to TOM!---(I NEED A CHEAT SHEET) as SHIRLEY calls it---I am not keeping up with our crew!!---'OLD BRAINITIS'--ho!---We are expecting another HOT! HOT! day here in WILD & WONDERFUL WEST VIRGINIA!!!---Beautiful bright sunshine -- blue skies--rabbits--& squirrels this am---teachers in school w/out students---Think I am going to enroll in 'CAMP HAWKWOOD' & let LOLLY care for me---ho!---LET US ALL 'LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR---HUG A CHILD--DANCE IN THE AM DEW & GIVE THANKS FOR OUR BLESSINGS!!!----LIFE IS GOOD!!----(
SISSY, I had my GB surgery in the late 70's and my experience was the same as yours...incision from heeeere to theeeere, drain tube and a weeks hospital stay. So different now. Just a small incision, removal of GB with a scope and then home you go! Still, his body will have been invaded and he should take it easy for a few weeks. Keep him under control;) LOL Prayers will be going your way.
SISSY---I have been watching the SD 'baby panda'---forgot how small they are---& still marvel at how gentle MOMMA PANDA is when handling them----such is nature---
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, HELEN AND JAY!!! 35 years of love and happiness, and a wonderful family...who could ask for anything more??? (Megan has the song for that, I bet!!!)
Good morning all. Morning started out great. We have no water. City says water main break but they don't know where it is at. Just one of life's inconveniences.
CEIL---Thought of you yesterday---I was watching a wildlife show from RUSSIA!---Beautiful little SEALS being born--but they have such a hard life---they are AWESOME!
Mits Jo and I had a race last night. Told her I was going to stay up and be the first. She said she would be. I won but she sent a ecard and mine went snail mail. We are even. The day Helen and Jay got married it was hot and humid. Had a good time.
Paula, no I only go by when I am on base to buy groceries -- maybe once a week or so. Just happened to be the same day as your Mom's internment.
Thanks for the Camp Hawkwood explanation -- now the shirt comment of last week makes sense to me. Enjoy the week with your little "hawks" on your fine "estate".
Happy anniversary Helen and Jay.
Sissy, Tom will be just fine. I had part of a disc removed in 2007 -- checked in at 10am, surgery at 12pm, home at 6:30pm, incision about 1" and superglued. Carotid was an overnight stay in ICU. Yes, medicine has changed.
I have been looking at the FLAMINGOS---on the RUSSIAN WILDLIFE show--I watched yesterday!---There were a 'zillion' of them---they were shown flying together---WHAT A SIGHT!!
Norma, everything is fine here at the stop light!! Wonder if ROmney misses it?? LOL! Ceil, hope the water isn't off for too long...hope you got your tea made.
HEDGIE---I hoped you would ask!---Just read in our 'weekly paper' the 'NEW MAYOR' wishes to buy a new light!---We do have 2 lights you know!!----SHEPHERDSTOWN has 0!
Hey Norma, sing along-It's West virginia, its west virginia, the pride of every mountaineer. come on you old grads, join with us young lads, its west virginia now we cheer! now is the time boys, to make a big noise, no mater what the people say! for there is naught to fear the gang's all hear so Hail to West viginia Hail!!!
Just went out to water flowers.....the wrens did complete their nest in the impatiens basket....one egg! Before I finished watering it, mom was nearby and scolding me loudly!!!!

Hi Ceil
Hi Ceil.
Hi Shirley
Ready for your Monday Morning?
Hi Shirley and Jo I just got to watch the video of the eagle release. It was fantastic. Ed Clark was so funny. Saw the one fly away and tears came to see such a magnificent bird. Wow.
Those are great videos, aren't they?
Hi Jo, Ceil and Shirley...
Jo how was Megan holding up in this heat?
Hi Wanda. Did you eat yet? We went out to dinner. I ate too much. Had a nice glass of wine. Waitress said I sounded like I needed a double. Told her I needed a triple Aww heck just bring the bottle.
Will and I had crab legs, broccoli, and baked potatoes. I had picked out the crab legs because they're favorites of his, and I thought he needed TLC.
Not entirely ready for Monday, but I will get there. It is still pretty relaxed until the students show up.
Shirley sounds good to me. I had imperial crab
is there a new thread:)?????thanks, Steve

That sounds good, too, Ceil. I think the grocery stores around here are trying to compete with Wegmans, so they are coming up with various deals, etc.
We have Giant grocery stores and they just set up a Giant gas station near here. You get discounts based on how many groceries you buy.
Thanks, Jo.
Yes, Ceil, we finally ate Supper. It is still 86°. We just had Burgers and Hot Dogs and salad, so Gene didn't have to be standing over the grill very long:)
hubby and I saw a beautiful osprey today with a fresh fish from the ocean, heading back to the bay...
I had tuna on toast....we went to breakfast this a.m. after church, so I was not hungry...
wanda so you had your mustard for the day?

I too don't care for the way it updates, Lynn but it's the only visible eagles around town now a days
My mother's name was Agnes. Dad used to sign Come Josephine on my flying machine.
I so glad you remember to ask GeeGee about her courting days I bet she was
very much alive again and that it made
her day !
I think that Alaska cam might be in a pretty remote location.

Goodnight, Shirley. Have a good day tomorrow. Hope you get all your desks....how many students in your class this year?

Is there a link to the Finney pics?
Everything went just fine on Friday...ceremony was quick, but nice. And Mom is now with Dad, on their 51st anniversary. Everyone loved the pictures.
We picked up a bushel of crabs and went back to the house, and had crabs, corn, tomatoes, potato salad and watermelon.

That beer (as you will read) is good for the bones !
Have you ever noticed when you clean one spot on the monitor you have to clean the whole thing?
I read that!
Night Mits and Shirley.
Didn't realize Koo was up, will have to check her out.

Judie
Sure wish Koo would get up, don't like her laying down like that.
It is hard to believe but my mother rode horseback to school. She lived up until we were using computers. So many changes in her lifetime.
Guess it's raining there
Koo did that the other night, too.
Hi, Everyone,
It's pretty late back east, but just thought I'd jump on here and say goodnight.
Thanks, Judie. I read that you pass by there (everyday?).
Koo is wingersizing now.
Yeah, I should do something to protect the floor or Annie will get me. She is the head custodian. You do not want Annie mad at you. She is a force to contend with! (I love Annie.)
Looks miserable in the Finney nest.
I will say goodnight again now. This time for real. See you tomorrow.
Missed the wingersizing. Koo all alone now.
Good to hear from Paula ☺
Lolly, sounds like fun and games at
Camp Hawkwood!
Put 2 bedtime pics of Finney's on blogspot. Just looked & one big foghorn is needed there now. Koo & sib were cuddled together.
Night all--early Reunion Comm. Mtg., so Pleasant Feather Dreams.
Gonna hit the hay. Catch ya'll tomorrow!
Hugs to all ♥
Loretta, Nice pics of Koo
My turn to say...
GOOD NIGHT
SWEET DREAMS

Good Night All
Prayers of thankfulness for all blessings
Prayers for all needs being offered
(((hugs))) ♥
Night all
Prayers for those that need them.
I am off to bed, night everyone.
I am off to bed, as well. Once again falling asleep at the wheel.
It is dangerous, I fall asleep while blogging.
Nite all!
Sweet dreams!
Prayers for all but especially for the teachers as they start the new year.
Deb sorry you missed Gabby taking off. Hope he does come back tomorrow.
Good night all. Peaceful dreams

Capt. is up and coffee is done...BBL
My lawn boy is Kayaking at the Boundary Waters right now. He mowed before he left and did a good job.
Off to work, bbl.
Have a good day Deb! Don't work too hard!!

Ceil, hope water is restored quickly.
Okay, off to take care of school stuff.
Cheers,
Judie
i was married on august 14 on a very very hot day---many moons ago!--(didn't mean to be so cute)
