Good morning. Off to hug a custodian.

Also smart to respect the secretaries. . .

We have some kind of in-service training today, but they did not tell us what it is. I hoped it would be on the e-mail this morning, but it is not.

HORRIFIC story in our morning paper!!---a 3 day infant boy was left in middle of the bed--w/Mom answered phone--she returned w/phone--PIT BULL was on bed---sniffing child--she attempted to get dog away--PIT BULL attacked the baby & child was mauled to death----(happened in HARDY CO--which adjoins our county)

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' BLUEFIELD SHARON!---Are you back home?---depending on you to keep us informed as to TOM'S progress----PRAYERS ARE WITH SISSY & TOM!!!!!----

Costume Lady said...

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE...
Yes, Norma, that is a very disturbing story. Why anyone would have a PIT BULL around a baby is far beyond me!

Costume Lady said...

Sissy says she can't get online at the hospital, but will let us know anything as soon as she does.
PRAYERS for them.

Costume Lady said...

I keep missing you on here, Margy. Everytime I get on here, you are going to sleep! Rest well:)

normabyrd said...

MORNIN' WANDA!---I can't imagine why ANYONE would have a pit bull---PERIOD!---I know some folks who do have one----& say he is harmless---

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Well, Tom has gone to surgery. Sissy is at the hospital and talking to me on IM. She can't get online otherwise and it is driving her nuts!

normabyrd said...

Thanks---SHARON!---sending prayers and love!---BLESS HER HEART!---

Hi Sharon, glad they got him in surgery now...as you know, sometimes they keep you waiting for hours!

That's absolutely horrible about the baby being mauled to death. That poor mother will suffer for the rest of her life for such a stupid thing to do! My husband and I are working on a trust for our children after our deaths. We walked out of the Attorney's office yesterday and went to a new rest. for lunch. Jim got dizzy and almost passed out in the waiting area. Almost scared me to death. He thinks he was just dehydrated due to working on his tractor that morning and not getting enough liquids. Everyone, drink lots of fluids. Love, Gwen

Eagle-Eyed Sharon said...

Gwen, is he feeling better now?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Gosh Gwen, is he okay today?

NatureNut said...

Good, Good Morning Everyone in Eagleland!!!!Got my eagle fix today~~~~when driving by the open marshy area by eagle nest, a BIG juvie holding fish flew off of top of tall, dead tree trunk! First time I've seen one there since probably May. And behind office, osprey chirping in a tree right by me. (Of course couldn't see him until he flew.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,CANDY
& MOST IMPORTANT----Safe, quick surgery for Tom & all the best to the Bluefield delegation.

gwen of s.c. said...

After filling up with fluids and food, he came home, got right back on the tractor and worked until late last night. He's a good doctor but doesn't take care of himself and has no common sense. He will not listen to me! He's back at work today. I told him he doesn't need to take any more time off. Gwen

gwen of s.c. said...

How do I find the racoons at pen. pix or whatever. I can't remember. Thanks, Gwen

Tom is in the recovery room. The procedure went well. They were able to do it all through the scope, no big incision. Off work 2-3 weeks, no heavy lifting for 6 weeks. God is so good to us!!

deb said...

Tom and Sissy, I hope everything is going smoothly this morning

Lynn, I hope your daughter gets the job today!

Yes, today is my day off. I am waiting for the dryer to ding, then I will be off for bird watching.

NatureNut said...

YAY, Yippee! Tom's all done----he will feel SO great w/that pesky GB gone.
No lifting for 6 weeks? No wonder I was in trouble--hauling garden stuff after 4 days. That's how good you feel!!! ☺

BTW, been intrigued w/Andrea's bird, so copied & printed. Saw it was from UK. Checked my Eur books and sure looks like a Pied Wagtail. Magpies have all black head--this one has a white face.

deb said...

I am adding my Happy Birthday to my Mom and my Dad. Kind of a sad day here, today.

ceil said...

Good morning all. I am at work today because tomorrow we will be on the Choptank River at a crab feast. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANDY AND MANY MORE. Miss you.
Loretta Jim did the same thing. Felt great and did everything. Doc said he could. Different doctors have different opinion. Glad Tom is doing wellGwen hubby should take it easy in this heat. I got to go BBL

At 2 PM mountain time today, one of the biggest blast will happen at Crazy Horse. 4.300 tons of rock will be removed from 300 feet below his head. I wonder if it will show up on the Web cam.

Very thankful that Tom is finished surgery - that was a quickie thank goodness! Hugs for you Sissy!

Gwen - you have described 'most' men!
You just have to take a hold of him!

Judie said...

Sissy, so very happy Tom's surgery was uneventful -- except removal of the gallbladder. Here's a prayer for a restful recovery over the next few weeks.

Ceil, happy crab feast tomorrow.

Gwen, funny thing about doctors -- one of mine said cholesterol was a bit high and ordered a special test, number came back 64, found out his was 240 -- ha! What's the saying? Physican heal theyself?

Lynn, fingers crossed for daughter!!!

Okay, off to do more laundry then some errands.

Judie

deb said...

I am off to see the Osprey, it looks like it will be a beautiful day! BBL, I hope to find out where Gabby is today. :)

Mema Jo said...

How's the weather down your say Mits?

Mits said...

right now warm and humid.....:)but sunny

hedgie said...

Terrible story, Norma. So very sad. People fail to understand that there is an appropriate way to acclimate a dog to a new baby arrival in the home, and to never fully trust ANY breed of dog to be left alone with a baby. Of course, it's also stoopid to leave a baby on a bed. We had a recent incident around here where a mother put an infant in bed with her grandmother and the woman rolled onto the baby and suffocated it. I'm sure the heartbreak of these cases is punishment, but there should still be criminal charges. JMHO.

hedgie said...

Yippee, Tom, out of surgery already! Great news! Just tie him to the recliner when he gets home, Sissy!

Gwen, Drs. don't make very good patients, do they? Ask him what he would have told a patient under those circumstances!!! Is he a gentleman farmer or a real one?? We used to have lots of them here!

Thanks, Deb. Her interview is at 11.
Your Mom and Dad shared a birthday? How cool. Happy Birthday to them, too.

NEW TREAD !! ☺

that would be NEW THREAD

hedgie said...

Deb, that will some blast!!! Hope they show it on the news tonight.

Going to the movies this afternoon...youngest daughter won tickets (radio station thing that she and co-workers win very often!) so we are going to see The Time-Travellers' Wife, and then an early dinner out.

Been on phone "arguing" with receptionist at Drs. office about my osteoporosis IV med---pit was supposed to have been ordered last month, and they haven't done anyhting yet....ARGH!

Mema Jo said...

Almost time for me to head out the door to meet past co workers for lunch.
Their lunch times are short, so I'll be back before you know I have gone!

BBL

hedgie said...

Stupid blogger cop just ate my message.

Loretta, so glad you got to see a juvie! And good ID on Andrea's bird! New one on me!

Trivia: ala Millionaire last night---Vultures are called a venue when in a group on the ground, but a kettle when they are circling. How about that? Remember all the vultures we saw on the manure piles at Patuxent??

Ceil, crab feed on a boat. Sounds like heaven! Enjoy!!!

paula eagleholic said...

So, I take it our cam is down until they climb the tree?
