Tornado warning now cancelled.

Have a great weekend, catch ya'll on Sunday!

stronghunter said...

Good news, Paula. Have a nice trip and a good weekend.

wvgal_dana said...

Paula be careful going to your Mom's place. Hope it is not in the tornado warning area.

Shirley sounds like your doing great starting your year out.

Wanda pizza Friday night....this is getting to be a trend...meatball day changed too. We will all be mixed up on our days in here lol

Working with a osprey flying above..Now that's the life!!!

Megan we were in Maryland earlier...was hoping we brought WV rain with us to you.

hedgie said...

Shirley, what kind of poster would/could you put on the floor??? Did you get the email I sent you yesterday??
Sissy, you are living the good life!! How is Tom feeling?

wvgal_dana said...

Facebook....I can't seem to keep up with the blog. How do you all keep up with both?

Eagle-Eyed's Sissy said...

Tom is doing pretty good, bruised and sore but good. He is down here in front of me on the boat fishing. I just saw a great big spider! Gotta go! See ya'll tomorrow!!

stronghunter said...

Will check my e-mail, Lynn. I have to be at home to do that, so they are piling up. The school's network blocks all Yahoo mail.

It is really a neat poster, called a treader. It is made of heavy plastic, and you stick it to the floor.

Last year I got Mark Twain coming up from out of the ground with the remark that "the report of his death was an exaggeration." It has been there for a year and still looks great. Survived the custodian's summer scrubbing and polishing, but I had to leave it behind in my old room.

The one I got this year is on Shakespeare. I loved the Twain one, but I want something new this year.

Mema Jo said...

missed it Megan - That is about the 3rd one in a row that I didn't see and
I love rainbows. Glad you got to see it.

Taking a break - Be back soon.

stronghunter said...

Read your insurance info, Lynn. Thank you. I need to do some research for sure.

stronghunter said...

Dana, you have e-mail.

stronghunter said...

Dana, I am not doing that well on Facebook, either. Anyone who has asked to be my friend, please do not be upset if I haven't answered. I am not ignoring you, just not able to keep up.

hedgie said...

Dana, I don't spend much time on FB---just check it a couple of times a day.

Shirley, hope it all made sense!
Love the Twain tread poster idea! Did you ever see Hal Holbrook do the one-man show on Twain?? It was a winner!!! Saw it at the Kennedy Center about 20 yrs. ago, at least.

hedgie said...

Shuttle Discovery launch NOW scheduled for Tues. at 1:36 AM.

stronghunter said...

I have seen it. I do not remember where, though.

Yes, the Twain is the best one, and I will be teaching American Lit., but my old one got inherited by another American Lit. teacher, and I want to be different. Since I'm doing both American and British literature.

It is something you can't take with you. Once it's stuck to the floor, you can't reuse it.

stronghunter said...

Stopped mid-sentence--

Since I'll be teaching both American and British literature, I need posters for the Brit lit too.

stronghunter said...

Oh my, a couple of times a day. I might look a couple of times a week.

stronghunter said...

I think something is clunking around at the nest. Keep hearing little sounds and it does not look that windy. Would be funny if Hidey sleeps there most nights.

wvgal_dana said...

Lynn the Charlie Daniels show in September. Have you ever been to the place where they are having it, when they have a show? Does it get congested? Do they patrol
it during the show like when something is at the fairgrounds?

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley I am hearing it too. It is not like a rain drop off a branch. Not sure something moving??

wvgal_dana said...

Shirley I once did try facebook. It was hard for me to keep up and stay on the blog too. Then they came up with the thing about facebook going to own all the pictures. I thought well since I can't keep both going (hadn't really done anything with facebook) I would drop it.

stronghunter said...

Really sounds like something moving around.

stronghunter said...

I think I remember something about FB saying they own the pictures.

hedgie said...

Dana, we went last year. I wouldn't say congested.....there's lots of room----plenty of picnic teble seating near the food vendor; chairs and benches at the porch pickin' area....I don't know for sure, but think it's just lawn seating (field!) for the big stage, but you could probably bring folding chairs. Handicapped parking is right next to vendors. My ONLY complaint was the generator noise from the vendors drowned out the porch pickin' music when we were "shopping" and eating.
I've already gotten our tickets. $20 online, $25 at the "gate". Wasn't there after dark to know what the lighting is like for walking purposes.

stronghunter said...

My children post on FB. I learn a lot about what is going on with my sons on there.

hedgie said...

Oh, and yes, there are deputies patrolling as well as the alcohol commission enforcement officers because of the Beer Garden (ID checks, I guess). Never saw anybody drunk while we were there.

hedgie said...

Dana, if you are a country music fan....Reba is on CMT now with a new show. Ch. 327 on DirecTV.

Congratulations to Bob!

Judie said...

Good grief, I leave for a while only to return to find out I have to go to the store to buy VODKA -- sure hope I can get a refund for the G&T. Also have to get a bigger pizza pan for Gee Gee.

The blog cop has been telling me my password is incorrect for about two days. Have to try about three times.

Shirley, hope the posters will be terrific. How different are the syllabi for two different levels of learning expectations?

Paula, hope your visit was a nice one.

I'm all confused about meatballs and hope I don't fix them on the wrong day -- might get kicked out of the nest. Course, I could always blame the vodka. Plan to try the bacon pasta tomorrow night.

Lynn, maybe we saw Hal Holbrook at the same time as we saw him at Kennedy Center about 20 years ago. Great performance. He's always been a favorite of mine.

Sissy, so happy Tom is better.

Found out this afternoon that Frank will have a heart catherization next Friday. Seems the nuclear stress tests on Monday and Tuesday indicate one wall of his heart is not receiving enough oxygen. He had a quadruple bypass in 1990 and two stents put in in 2001. Ah, just what one needs, yes?

I know I've missed someone or someones trying to catch up. No offense.

Tired tonight. Turning my light off but leaving the night light on for others.

Judie

wvgal_dana said...

Prayers for Frank's cath. on Friday Judie and for you too.

Lynn sounds like maybe I might be getting a ticket with 2 others.

By the way how do we know if SIL = son in law or sister in law?

Raccoon convention as PA.

wvgal_dana said...

Got one climbing a tree...up up up it goes.

Judie said...

Had to turn my light on again because I remembered that looking at Hidey's House there is no Boris. Wonder where he/she is living these days.

Thank you Dana.

Okay, light off again but night light on.

Judie

hedgie said...

Judie, we can at least assume that we were both at the theatre the same night and made a pre-determination connection that has finally culminated in this friendship!!! Cool!
Sorry to hear that Frank has to have a cath....hope that they don't have to do anymore than possibly another stent. Will be praying for you both.
Dana...good question!! I have wondered on occasion, but most of the time the reference is made with another noun so that i can usually interpret it right!! Guess we should clarrift Son-I-L or Sis-I-L!!!
Good to hear that you are planning on going! Saw so many people I knew last year.

stronghunter said...

Judie--the dual enrollment classes have to include the college writing assignments in addition to Am. Lit. The straight eleventh grade is just Am. Lit., then there is a 12th grade which is Brit. Lit.

I'll be disappointed if the posters don't show up tomorrow.

What about your classes, Judie? I can't imagine having 200 students.

Prayers for Frank, Judie. Do keep us posted.

Hal Holbrook--I know I saw him on television, and I saw a live performance somewhere, and I am not 100% who did that. It has been so long ago. It was not at the Kennedy.

Sissy, good that Tom was able to get in some fishing today. Too bad you had to deal with a spider.

I have to make sure I have what I need for bacon pasta. We really like that bacon wrapped shrimp.

hedgie said...

Lots of severe weather east of us....glad it missed us, but feel for the folks affected ....hope all of our momsters/dadsters are okay and w/o damage.

stronghunter said...

Dana, you have a point. It could be either son or sister. I had not thought of that.

stronghunter said...

Lynn, just turned on Ch. 7 so I'll see the weather. Been watching CNN.

hedgie said...

Shirley, bet the bacon pasta and bacon shrimp would go together nicely!
Chances are that if you saw Holbrook in a one-man show, it was A Night with Mark Twain--I think that's what it was called.

deb said...

I am turning out my light, later than usual for me. Night everyone.

stronghunter said...

I think it was Holbrook, but I also saw it on TV. Sometimes my mind plays tricks on me, and it was a long time ago.

stronghunter said...

Probably should not overdo the bacon!

wvgal_dana said...

Remember when we were talking about "now they say beer is good for you bones and osteoporosis". I said something like just wait they will come out later with beer is bad, meaning causes something bad. Well news is about to tell, "why beer is bad for men".

Let you know soon what the news say's. If it does tell......

hedgie said...

Calling it a day. Worked hard in between blogging!! Got the cleaning done for another week or two!

BTW, Judie, when you check back in...I almost always have to attempt log-in 2 or 3 times before stupid blogger cop takes my password!!!

Goodnight fowl friends! Sleep tight.
Prayers and peace.

stronghunter said...

Looks like we could get storms later tonight.

Mema Jo said...

I got caught up in Criminal Minds reruns. Hadn't seen 2 of them - I like that show!

stronghunter said...

I saw what looked to be spidey's long leg on our cam for a moment tonight. I think spidey is there, just not on cam right now.

stronghunter said...

I have many of spidey's cousins on my front porch and around the garage. I can hope they are eating the mosquitoes.

stronghunter said...

Oh--one more thing. Yesterday at open house, one of my students came sailing into the room on one of those little scooters. I said that I hoped he wouldn't be coming to class that way.

Not a bad way to get around the building, actually. Wish I could pull it off.

PA Nana said...

I'm about to go to my chair for the night, but before I go do any of you notice when Koo looks into the camera it's like he's staring right at you?

Also, did anyone notice the camera change at PA woods? It was like another camera view. If that's common I must have missed it before.

Anyway,
G'nite all and God bless

stronghunter said...

It does seem like Koo is looking right at you--gets to you more than when the others do it.

stronghunter said...

Goodnight for real, now.

Other part of news for wine drinkers:

The family had a great time at GeeGee's Pizza party. Couldn't find a Pizza as large as her table top, so we brought 3 large ones, with various toppings. We did have some Vodka, but I can guarantee you that we didn't put it on the GROUT!
Round about 8o'clock, GeeGee said "Hey, you all can stay as long as you like, but I'm going to bed"...told us we could stay all night if we wanted to...and off she went. I went in to check on her just before we left and she was sound asleep:) She is a hoot.
Well, you all can stay as long as you like, but I am going to bed.

GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE

This is getting to be a habit...getting on late after everyone has gone to bed.

Well, the boys are gone. :( Took them home to their momma. Joey had gone to the Cowboys game. Jack took care of Jacob while we went to meet the teacher night with Joseph.

WANDA.......thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! The seeds arrived. So exciting! Have to do some serious thinking about where they will go in the garden. Must be a special place!

JUDIE.......will be anxious to hear about your Bacon Pasta and how it turns out. It is so simple to prepare.

SHIRLEY....sounds like you are about ready for next week. Posters are so popular with the kids. Laurel is stressing out..big time! She has a new principal and she is coming on strong. She cried a couple times tonight. And, that UPSETS me! I told her to just concentrate on her kids the next few weeks and forget the demands of the principal. She will be busy with demands on her! Laurel teaches
6th grade reading and had 100% of her students pass the state mandated test this past year. She is doing nothing wrong!

Pizza tonight was good. Had not made it in a long time. We only ate one since Joey was not there, so Laurel froze the other for next week. She was thrilled with the meals.

Okay, time for me to call it quits. Tomorrow we do the yard and then I can rest. ha! Also, have to post the picture of Jacob sitting in front of the dryer waiting for Bunny Bear.

Nite all! Sweet dreams! Have a great weekend. Relax and enjoy!

Good morning!

Flash flood watch. My weather alarm went off early this morning.

The strangest alarm was sounding last night when I came in from work. The thing was screaming away. When I checked, it said the reason for the alarm was "unknown." Go figure.

No telling how long it had been going off. I feel sorry for the pets when that happens.

Lord, we need rain, but not too much of it. Please send us enough and then let it stop.

Lolly, your daughter is a treasure if 100% of her students passed the state test. No way should the principal be making her cry. It sounds like she is a very consciencious person who takes everything to heart. I hope it gets better and suspect it will.

Reading is so important for the kids. If Laurel is sending them on with that ability, it is a gift they should appreciate, and so should the principal, dang it!

Some people should not be administrators.

I hope nobody had a bad storm last night. We had some rumbling storms come through, but nothing too bad.

Been thinking about the little Jack Russell. I think it would be the perfect doggie for Norma. They can bounce off the walls together. I can just picture that. I'll even throw in the kid on the scooter who came to visit me at open house.

Wear the dog and the kid out for me Norma; give them back nice and calm. (Kid isn't mine until the spring. You have plenty of time.)

stronghunter said...

Well, good morning, Norma. I had no idea I was going to come in right after your comment.

You are our #1 Momster today!

And you are already bouncing off the walls. Bless you.

stronghunter said...

The little guy is about two years old. I told Will that I think he's really cute, but I don't know that I would want to have one at this point in my life. For sure, I would have to fence the back yard.

He comes bounding across the room and leaps right into my lap. He seems to think that I must be greeted this way--repeatedly. If I hold up a pillow, it does slow him down.

stronghunter said...

Glad you enjoyed the game, Norma. I am a Redskins fan, but I do not hate Dallas. They have definitely done better than the Redskins in the recent past. (Don't shoot me, Redskins people.)

GOOD MORNING,NORMA AND SHIRLEY...
Forget about having a dog for a pet. You need to have BUTTERFLIES. They don't make any noise or jump on you, you don't have to take them for a walk and they don't get fur all over the place. Their food is free and they don't get fussy about it...they just keep on eating it with no "I didn't want this, I like the other kind"! If you get tired of having them around, just open the door and they will reward you for all your TLC with a breathtaking flight. They linger around for a while, as if to say, "Thank You" and then take off to beautify the life of others as they pass from one house to another. Gotta love a pet like that:)

Good morning, everyone.

I too remember when Alaska and Hawaii became States. Also remember pinning.

Was born the day the first atomic bomb was tested. Mom said the world was never the same. I think she might have been referring to my arrival.

Have to rethink the bacon pasta tonight. Forget we have to go to a new home cocktail party about an hour's drive away.

So glad the pizza party was a success and I sure like Gee Gee's style - know when to call it quits!

Jo, Criminal Minds is about the only cop type show that actually uses terminology and psyc profiling correctly.

Shirley, how long is West staying? What's George got to say these days?

Wanda, I really like the butterflies as pets idea. Such a gentle thought.

Lolly, so sorry about Laurel's experiences with the principal. I'm sure all will settle down soon. We've all seen this a gazillion times -- absolute power corrupts absolutely. Just give Laurel lots and lots of hugs from all of us.

Well, off to glance through the paper, drink more coffee, and do some ironing before the nasty humidity builds up.

Cheers,

Candy, Karla's in laws have a beach house in Carolla (sp) near Duck. She saw the bird which she thought was a Juvie Eagle on the railing of the deck, about 3 ft. away from her (she was inside peering out of the window.
Couldn't get her camera focused fast enough. She was there for 2 weeks on a sort of Sabbatical. It did her a world of good, clearing her mind of lifes problems, but the problems were still there when she got home. I think she is rested and better able to handle her problems now. Hope they are Molehills now instead of Mountains!
I do pray a lot that she can handle everything that life has been throwing at her, lately. She's my baby and I love her so much!

Wonderful Sat. AM with a nest visit by our Belle (?), as well as Candy coming home!! Thanks, Deb, for getting pic, because i was only about 30 mins. late on your email alert!!!

Norma and Candy, there are relatively inexpensive programs/cable to use to transfer your stuff to a new computer. It's not a big deal at all! And whatever you have saved on your server (like favs/bookmarks) is really saved on them, so will be there when you get online!

Wanda and Lolly: glad your pizza evenings were so great. Lolly, hugs for Laurel....she'll be ok---it's probably just the "start of the year" butterflies w/ a new admin in place.

No football comments from here...until this evening!!! And then, Loretta, we'll have to be wswitching back and forth between the game and the race...argh...hate when they do that!!

Margy...go to bed, dear girl.

MORNIN' HEDGIE!---Thanks for the info!---I must get a new one before winter---I haven't been on as much since W/CENTER!--

ps--you are just a child----

Wanda, sorry to hear that Karla is dealing w/ difficulties. Surely hope time in Corolla and surrounding area has helped clear her mind and given her some new perspective. If a PLACE can help soothe a troubled mind, OBX is THE place!

MORNIN' MITS!---Guessing you are still at the beach!---No problem in FL!

Thanks, Lynn. Will tell you about those problems sometime!

Good Morning All! Soooooo happy to see that you have migrated back to our nest, Candy! We really have had you in our thoughts a lot!
Well if we wouldn't be so privileged to have Deb on here, I would never have known or especially seen our beautiful couple in the nest. Just to look at the pics is so thrilling - like Stopped my heart!
I wonder how Mauley (Donna) is doing?

Guess the sun shining at OC if Mits is heading to the beach. Bet the surf is ROUGH! No sun here.

Glad to hear it is beach weather down there - gd celebrating b-day this weekend down at the house..

To answer someone's question from earlier--little doggie will be here until Monday, I think. The arrangement is between Will and his friend. The friend went to California.

Quick visit.

Koo all alone on the nest. Lonely.

Wanda, prayer for Karla.

Decided to delay the bacon pasta. I don't want to rush through it because if its as good as it sounds (reads), I want to take my time. Decided a salad will work so we won't be starved at the cocktail party where everyone pigs out on good tasting bad stuff.

Overcast here. Maybe more storms later.

Cheers,
Judie

Oh, forgot. Does anyone have an update on Bandit?

Judie, I went looking at the Delta nest site and found a picture of the nest tree from Google Earth that shows how close to the road that nest is.

I read some comments, but haven't gotten to a recent update yet.

I posted the picture on my blog. That tree is overhanging the road.

Dana, I'm not sure what safety factor they are most concerned aobut, but it sounds like ROAD/TRAFFIC safety! I'm not worried....I just don't want it to rain!

Jo, I swear, I think we were separated at birth...I was just thinking earlier about Mauley! Haven't heard anything in a long while. I know her daughter was having healthe problems and she may be caring for those 6 children. Then, again, Mauley herself, has had health problems. Whatever the situation may be, I wish she would hop on here and let us know if there is a problem so that we may lift them up in prayer. Well, lets remember them in our prayers, anyway!
For our new friends, Mauley (Donna) is from Kentucky and was pretty much a regular on here for a long time. She is a lovely lady and always had good, fun things to say.

Still looking for something about Bandit......

Thanks for the info, Wanda. I do not think I had met Candy before either. Nice to get to know her.

Jo, in the forum I was reading, they were still discussing the issue of whether Bandit should be rescued. It would take awhile to read it all.

Good afternoon, everyone!

Have had a busy morning. Exterminator found TWO dead rats in the recessed lighting shelf in our living room. Didn't find any more in the adjacent attic crawl space, thank God. Gonna get more glue traps to replace the ones the rats were stuck to.

On a lighter note, we had a great time with my SIL yesterday! Met at TGI Friday's, and were there for lunch AND dinner! Spent more than 4and a half hours just talking and having a lot of laughs. Like a mini vacation! By the way, they have some really good appetizers and soup/salad combinations!
Need to read the blog and catch up.
Will do that now, and be back in a while.
