Hi all! What a morning. Had a regular dentist appointment. Told them a tooth was sensitive to cold. I have an infection, so now I am on antibiotics and after that a root canal and new crown coming up. Not fun, but it is the expense that kills me!

Yes, chance of rain in our area, but so far just sprinkles. Lowreeda needs to step up her rain dance! ☺

Deb, looked at your pictures. What a loss for your family. So glad you found comfort in being with each other.

I love all the hummingbirds in CO. When we camped we used to be able to put out feeders. You would not believe the number of hummers. Can not put out feeders anymore in the Natl Pk. They do not want to attract bears.

hedgie said...

Oh my, Deb, that is too bad. So many kids his age don't take their diabetes seriously enough. What a shame.
Cool license plate!

Back to visit.

Been pondering the J. Moran attack. Just have to be discreet -- politicos have noses that easily become disjointed.

Again, so sorry Deb but welcome home.

I was wondering about the Delta eaglet with no branches to practice with. Hope it decides to branch up higher before really taking off. In the nest resting quietly now.

Vick quit the construction job some time ago.

Later,
Judie

Back, again.

Been meaning to mention that the Delta nest eaglet is alone like Hidey was but is very quiet compared to our "mouthy" in-your-face brat. Interesting to me.

Judie, I'm wondering how Vick could quit his job...wasn't that part of his sentence...to work that job? Maybe he worked at it as long as he was supposed to. Don't like him...never will, and whatever team hires him, will no longer have my respect, even if it is the REDSKINS! (Oh, Lord, forbid!)

hedgie said...

Just went outside to get a break from looking at job postings, and saw my Myrtle Turtle, crawling in under the wood pallets! 2nd sighting!! So glad she is "home'! Does my heart good.

Jim, you need to read the blog more often!! Deb experienced her loss at the same time you did. A lot of us had asked when you were leaving for Minnesota when we were expressing our sympathies, and never got an answer....and now we know that you didn't go.

hedgie said...

Wanda, had heard that Vinnie Cerado said that the Skins have no interest whatsoever in him! TG!

OH NO MR BILL

New York — Michael Vick has been conditionally reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.

Lolly said...

Off to buy groceries! Gotta eat!

Mema Jo said...

lol if he can find a team that will sign him.

Believe me that I regretfully state there are some dumb*** (dumb bunnies)
out there in the sporting world.

Judie said...

Back.

Wanda, Vick's quitting the construction job was reported on news several weeks ago. I used "quit" because that is how it was described. I think he just had to have legal employment rather than a specific type.

No turtle here but do have a toad that lives on the patio under an empty overturned flower pot.

I also heard the 'skins are not interested. Regardless of talent, I would NOT like to see him play professionally anywhere -- would be just another message that bad behavior isn't really all that bad.

Lolly, sorry about the dental work. Seems like a real good excuse to slack off for a few days or weeks or months.

Back to the laundry room. Almost done with that.

MITS do you still follow BRS the trucker photographer? He came near here last week and I went to a truck stop and had dinner with him and got to pet his Truck Kat.. He's a very interesting person. Vicky has met him twice BTW, I still breathing better with the new meds and have been trimming limbs on the trees in my yard. Not much blogging lately.

Mema Jo said...

Hi Red
Mits & I both open BRS site to see where he is headed and I like to read his blog comments. Mits told us that he was headed to your area and I am glad to hear you were able to meet up with him. Take any pics? His blog is the best way for me to see that Vicky and you are alive and well!

hedgie said...

They just announced in news teaser that commissioner reinstated Vick...what a bunch of bull. "means he could be playing ball by Oct." LET'S HOPE NOT!!!!

Red said...

I have photos of him on my lounge page.

Mits said...

Red great pics, he seems like such a great person....:)

hedgie said...

Red, we saw that you were going to a camping excursion with Big Rig Steve...is that still on?????
So glad that you are breathing easier.

Hi, Everyone,
Have pretty much been surviving by laying low & panda napping. Not doing very well with the humidity & heat! Norma, we did enjoy our trip to the beach on Saturday. When you see waves that huge it makes you feel very insignificant in the scheme of things! Quite a reminder of the power of our Creator!
Talked to SIL this morning; she's miserable with the heat, too. For that matter, my Hubby wants to move to Alaska if it's cooler there. Seems like it usually gets worse in September. Hope not this year!
Have been enjoying the company of a night heron fledgling parked on our front porch. Will try to do a picture for you guys.
Many prayers being said for Lynn and her daughter. Losing my job a year and a half ago was one of the worst experiences of my life, but it got me to where I am today, so wouldn't change it. Sure glad I have you guys for support! Makes all the difference.
Still a blue screen on the live cam, I see. Glad the blog still works--or I'd be jonesin' for some conversation! Have lots of studying to do for tonight. Please pray that I do OK on the test tonight! Also have a speed test in my Keyboard class. Hoping to better that, too. Thanks so much, you gals & guys. I need to take another shower. SO hot & sticky!
Better get some lunch, too. BBIALW to see how things are going. :o]

Mits said...

well I have been stuck out on coastal highway for 2 hours, storms, wind, hail, torrential rain....came home and my balcony furniture, sailed around the balcony, headed west, don't know if anything is broken, can't go out yet still too much rain , wind, lightning.........bet we have gotten a couple of inches from this storm.....

Red said...

I'm probably not going on the camping trip. Its close to where I live so I think someone assumed I would be there. I may have other plans for that date.

Ms Bookworm said...

Whoa, Mits, better batten down the hatches! Hope all is OK. If only we'd get some rain here! Hang in there! Here's a picture of our heron baby. He's a character--tends to 'walk like an Egyptian', the way his head moves. We're trying not to let him see us too much, so he doesn't get too tame. Might not be to his advantage.

hedgie said...

Too bad, Red. Think your name was on the list!
My goodness, Mits, what a mess. Didn't see any storm alerts come across for OC. Hope nothing is broken....assume you have indoor parking?!?
Good luck tonight, Andrea. You'll do fine...we have lots of faith in you. Thanks for support.

Mits said...

yeah, I did see them coming but so often they go right past us, this rain was coming from the south, and is coming right up the coast like a freight train.....

Mits said...

I just thought I had time....duh me!!!!!!

stronghunter said...

Good afternoon. Ran some errands. Hunter and I went to Carl's for ice cream. Carl's in Fredericksburg is kind of famous. You line up in the parking lot to get your ice cream. Everybody in town goes to Carl's.

Came home and was going to take Hunter out to the battlefields and try to get sume wildlife pictures. Car wouldn't start. I kind of think it is the starter. I think this is where I came in to this group. Somebody had a starter problem.

Just glad we did not get stranded out in the battlefield somewhere, though I do live very close.

Might be getting the car towed tomorrow. Right now, I figure I'm just staying home.

stronghunter said...

. . . that's some wildlife pictures.

stronghunter said...

Lolly, at lease if I am stuck somewhere for awhile, it is in my own house.

stronghunter said...

. . . at least if I am stuck . . .

Judie said...

Mits, so happy you made it home safely. Hate being stuck on the road somewhere in bad weather. Hope all porch things are okay, too.

Andrea, best of luck tonight. Know you will ace the tests.

Shirley, what an inconvenience with the car. Just so happy it didn't konk out on Saturday. Hi to Hunter.

Off to contemplate refrigerator contents for dinner options. No, first going to check out Heron baby.

Judie

Mits said...

phew, nothing damaged, thank you Lord, the WBOC helicopter is flying over the condo, might be some damaged nearby.....I swear when I jumped out of my car along the highway to get out of it sounded like a freight train going by, door almost flew off the building as I entered the store

Mits said...

hmmm, might have to have a G&T to settle my nerves:)

Mema Jo said...

Glad you are safe Mits!

Mason's journey HOME

Mits said...

what great news about Mason....been thinking about him alot today, thought tomorrow was the big day....God bless them all,:)

hedgie said...

Heron is cute, Andrea....how tall do you judge him to be? Can't tell for sure form photo....about a foot?

hedgie said...

Best of luck to the Ellsworths.

Costume Lady said...

I was reading Mason's parent's journal and came across a joke that is lame, but made me giggle. Just for those who didn't read down that far...

A doctor from BMRH, goes into a bar, orders a Hazlenut Daiquiri. The bartender is out of hazlenut and substitutes Hickory for the Hazlenut. The doctor says " Hey! What kind of a drink is this! "The bartender says " It's a Hickory Daiquiri Doc!"
LOL

Mits said...

that was cute, saw it Wanda:)

Mits said...

I'm sitting here watching the lightning rods (people) on the beach and in the ocean, lightning is still around, police have been by to tell them to leave...

hedgie said...

Stupid people, Helen!

Costume Lady said...

RED, good to hear from you and glad you are doing better. Who is the lady in your photos? Is she a trucker and where did you all eat?

hedgie said...

Interesting and scary story on news just now at OC about "shorebreak" waves that body slam you intothe hard-packed sand and can cause serious injuries...interviewed one teen who is now a quadriplegic because of it. Lifeguards having training sessions daily and demonstrations for people on the beach. Warning systems in effect.

Costume Lady said...

STOOPID people:)

ceil said...

Good news about Mason. I know they are excited and hope it helps him to be home in his own surroundings.
Deb young people think they are invincible.
Red glad you met up with Big rig Steve and TK. I watch every now and then.
Mits glad the furniture is okay this time.

Costume Lady said...

Police should arrest those on the beach who don't leave after being told to. STOOPID!

Red said...

The lady is a friend of BRS that works at a truck stop near me. She is a member of the BRS road crew.

Mits said...

beach patrol have been by here 3 times, beach is closed, I think the police might be busy with some other things right now....Lynn, the past week, rip currents have been happening.....you can just be there up to you knees and get in trouble, saw a big man last year...get slammed by a wave close in, and he broke his wrist, it was just hanging and he was screaming, such pain, poor guy...

Mits said...

going to scrounge around in fridge, looking for left overs, friend coming down tomorrow afternoon, going to other friends house for low country boil tomorrow night:)yummy:)

hedgie said...

Deb, heard that Verizon is planning on laying off 8000 employees and contractors by years'end----sure hope that you won't be affected!

Mits said...

we got 1.45 inches of rain, Wallops Island, south of here, got 6 inches

Mits said...

oh Deb, I read that too, hope not:(

hedgie said...

Mits, what does a low country boil include this far north??

Mits said...

it has been awile since I ate it, but local seafood, corn, potatoes, bread to dip...

Judie said...

Just checking in before heading back to kitchen.

Beginning to have some concern for Steve. Anyone know if he's okay?

Got caught in rip tide as child. Horribly scary.

Judie

hedgie said...

Sounds pretty much the same as down south, Mits!
Must have been very scary, Judie. Any after-effects? Do you swim?

floralgirl said...

Howdy all:)
Glad you're ok, Mits, sounds like a nasty storm.
Sorry about your loss, Deb. Such a tragic death, he was so young.

Cool heron pic, Andrea

Michael Vicks = garbage

Hubby saw garter snake earlier going across the yard with a large toad in his mouth. Stupid snake is supposed to be eating mice and moles, not my garden toads.

Mits said...

the nerve of that snake!!!!!!

hedgie said...

The poor toad should emit enough toxin that it kills the snake...wish, wish!

ceil said...

Lynn when we went to the memorial service on Saturday found out the cousin's husband was born in Parksburg WV

paula eagleholic said...

Mits - glad you survived the storm. Never heard of a low country boil!

Megan - bad snake! bad snake!

Shirley - sorry about the car, but it's good it didn't happen on Saturday!

Red - glad you are feeling better! We miss you!

Judie - Steve has been known to disappear from time to time. He's a busy man!

paula eagleholic said...

I think Deb works for AT&T, not Verizon.

paula eagleholic said...

This is what I got when I searched for it...does sound yummy.

INGREDIENTS
Old Bay Seasoning to taste
5 pounds new potatoes
3 (16 ounce) packages cooked kielbasa sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces
8 ears fresh corn, husks and silks removed
5 pounds whole crab, broken into pieces
4 pounds fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
newspapers
beer

DIRECTIONS
Heat a large pot of water over an outdoor cooker, or medium-high heat indoors. Add Old Bay Seasoning to taste, and bring to a boil. Add potatoes, and sausage, and cook for about 10 minutes. Add the corn and crab; cook for another 5 minutes, then add the shrimp when everything else is almost done, and cook for another 3 or 4 minutes.
Drain off the water, and pour the contents out onto a picnic table covered with newspaper. Grab a paper plate and a beer and enjoy!

Mits said...

hopefully it is the 8,000 IT people working in India that get the boot:)

Mits said...

yes ma'am, that sounds like it, forgot about the kielbasa:)

hedgie said...

Yep, Paula, that's it except down south instead of kielbasa it was a spicy cajun sausage. Mmmmm-good!
Oh, I was sure it was Verizon.
You can bet your bottom $ it WON'T be the foreigners that get cut!
SHirley, think it ws Megan with the starter problems before---she can probably give you some good tips!

floralgirl said...

Shhhh....don't mention starters, the old van has been starting right up for weeks. Got my trusty hammer just in case it doesn't. Anyway...NEW THREAD is up!

stronghunter said...

Hi, Lynn. Kathryn already whacked it with a hammer, but there wasn't enough space for her to get a good swing at it and it didn't help. I remember hitting a starter with a hammer being discussed before and thinking it sounded reckless.

Kathryn actually knows quite a bit about fixing cars,so I did trust her to give it a try.

I can't remember if I have towing insruance. I will find out tomorrow.

I already know that I need a new serpentine belt, so I'll just get that done too--and a state inspection. Might as well spend a whole bunch of money.
